Places to stay in Green Mountain
Surely the place you dreamed of as a child! The treehouse sits above a beautiful mountain stream. Close to parks, art and culture, great views, and restaurants and dining. You’ll love the treehouse because of the romantic coziness. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and families (with kids).
Idyllic 600 sq. ft. artist’s treehouse deep in the forest, 35 feet above a mountain stream with gently cascading waterfalls – just 45 minutes northeast of Asheville, NC. Just 45 miles west of Boone, NC. Perched high in the sky, this home offers sleeping for up to six. Follow the floating log staircase to a romantic upstairs loft with Romeo and Juliet balcony. Lounge in the window seat there, enjoying the best view in the house. Or enjoy the cozy sleeping loft tucked away off the living room. It's the perfect place to curl up with a good book. Stroll along the wrap around deck for magnificent views of the stream immediately below. Sit by the crackling wood stove and enjoy it's cozy warmth. The modern kitchen was made for a master chef. All the cookware, organic spices, and oils are provided to whip up an amazing meal. This is the place you surely dreamed of when you were a child! Designed and built by two imaginative and experienced natural builders, this tiny treehouse hamlet sits on 6 wooded acres with south – facing slopes at a comfortable elevation of 2,150 feet. It is near Mt. Mitchell, the tallest mountain east of the Mississippi and only twenty minutes away from the renowned Penland School of Crafts and the community of Celo, in Yancey County, where more artists per capita live than anywhere in the U.S. The Blue Ridge Parkway will get you within 20 miles of the home. The newly paved highways take you the rest of the way. With easy access to state-maintained roads and just 7 miles from all the conveniences in Burnsville, NC, this quiet, tucked-away eden offers the best of both worlds. An inspiring wildlife and birdwatcher’s paradise, its’ other features include: a view of the beautiful North Toe River from mountain plateau, magnificent rock outcroppings, a small sounding cave, nature trails and many edible wild plants. Simply walk across the street to enjoy the Toe River. It offers refreshing deep waters for swimming and excellent trout or bass fishing. Walk along the pebble shores and simply enjoy the beauty. The Appalachian Trail is within 15 miles of the home running along the NC and TN border. Take a short drive for a worthwhile hike. The home is also within 20 miles of the Roan Mountain State Park for another beautiful hike. *** please note the sleeping loft (not bedroom) is accessed by a fixed ladder. Best for school age children or mobile adults. Not suitable for younger children and older adults.
The treehouse sits on a completely private, 6 acre, wooded lot. It is within 2 miles of the quaint town of Green Mountain which features a genuine general store and post office. The neighboring town of Burnsville is about 1,700 people and is nestled in a valley surrounded by the highest peaks in eastern America, including Mt. Mitchell. It's small downtown is dominated by the Town Square with towering trees. Burnsville is located 35 miles northeast of Asheville, along the Mt. Mitchell Scenic Byway. The Mount Mitchell Crafts Fair transforms the streets around Burnsville’s town square into a festival affair for craft and art lovers, with more than 150 juried crafters displaying and selling. The annual fall Yancey County Dream Home Tour benefits Mayland Community College and features showcase homes in and around Burnsville. Our favorite dining spot downtown is the Garden Deli with a fantastic array of high quality sandwiches, plus dinner entrées on weekend nights (closed Sundays). Their beautiful outdoor dining is right on the Town Square, surrounded by lush plantings and flowers. Many love to drive around to find the area's 200 Quilt Blocks installed on the sides of barns and buildings throughout the countryside and villages. Nine driving trails take you to view the vividly painted squares. In downtown Burnsville, see the Quilt Block Sundial, the largest vertical sundial in North Carolina and the only quilt block sundial in the world, on the side of the Yancey Common Times Journal building near the Town Square. The eight-foot by eight-foot wooden structure features three sets of numbers for telling time: for daylight savings time, for standard time and one for local apparent time. A plaque beside the block explains how to use the sundial. The TRAC (Toe River Arts Council) Gallery downtown at 102 West Main Street exhibit local artists with changing exhibits and a great gallery shop. With work from over 100 artists in a variety of media: clay, glass, jewelry, painting, photography, fiber, wood, sculpture, mixed media, and more. The quality and diversity of art in the area is outstanding. TRAC sponsors the Toe River Studio Tour twice a year on the second weekend in June, the first weekend in December. Over 100 studios and galleries are represented in this free, self-guided tour. The famous art school Penland School of Crafts is just 13 miles east. About 10 miles east of downtown is the energyXchange with artist studios powered by landfill gas. Both are have galleries open most days. The Parkway Playhouse in Burnsville is a small professional theatre with shows from April through December. Yancey County (where Burnsville is located) is full of old and new Agri-Tourism experiences. Visit local farmers markets and farms to purchase fresh produce of the season & delicious homemade treats. And in late November and December, cut your own mountain grown Christmas tree. The scenic Blue Ridge Parkway is 19 miles away, via NC Highway 80 south. Go five miles north to Crabtree Falls and 11 miles south to the entrance of Mt. Mitchell State Park. The great village of Spruce Pine is just 14 miles east on US 19. Burnsville is about 35 miles northeast of Asheville. It's an easy drive (45 minutes) up I-26 West toward Tennessee. Take exit 9 onto Highway 19 East and go about 16 miles.
  • We very much enjoyed our weekend in the treehouse. We stayed for a weekend in March. Plenty of ways to keep the accommodations warm. The grocery store, less than a 15 minute drive ( with a Starbucks.... bonus) was great! We cooked dinner, kitchen has all your basics to prepare meals. Firewood, plenty of it!! The fire pit has market lighting..... there’s a hot tub.... perfect on cold nights!! Communication was extremely timely. If “ glamping” is your thing.... and looking for a cool, unique, relaxing, quiet getaway... and pet friendly..... you found it!!

  • Fantastic place for a quiet getaway. Lots of hikes and places to see within a short driving distance as well. Kitchen is very nice for those who want to cook.

  • Very nice

    Randall2019-11-07T00:00:00Z
  • We got everything that we had expected at the Tree House. It was very private and had great amenities. The driveway would probably be an issue if it was raining and we didn’t have 4 wheel drive. But was not a hard walk from the bottom if needed. The only down side was the toilet, it didn’t smell bad but it had a noticeable “port-a-potty” smell. I still would give it 5 stars because again, we knew what to expect. It was a very rustic tree house and al together was an experience worth the price we paid.

  • Excellent get away. Loved the privacy and set up!!

    Diane2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • This cozy rustic treehouse was a perfect 2 day getaway. Fire pit was great way to enjoy listening to the creek. WiFi did not always work because it was rainy and cloudy most of our stay but sure enough there a few good DVDs to watch! There is not much hiking or trails on the property but plenty of perfect little places to just sit and enjoy the ambience. We were able to adjust to the toilet but took a little getting use to. We loved all the little touches like a bottle of wine waiting when we arrived. Plenty of cooking utensils and cookware to make a meal. Coffee pot, dishwasher, washer and dryer are great amenities. We especially loved how secluded this tiny gem in the woods was and very quite. Thank you for such a wonderful stay as we truly enjoyed every minute of it!!

    Tami2019-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • We arrived at the treehouse on a Friday afternoon and stayed two nights. We were definitely thankful to have a Jeep with 4WD to get up the driveway to the treehouse - it’s pretty steep and rocky but with 4WD you should have no problems! We walked in to a bottle of wine and goody bag with a few snacks which was a really thoughtful touch! After unpacking, we drove up to Ingles which isn’t far at all - I think it took us about 10-15 minutes to get there from the house. We cooked all of our meals at the treehouse - the kitchen is equipped with all of the cooking necessities! We spent almost the entire Saturday by the fire pit which our 2 dogs also loved! We also made a few trips to the hot tub which was so peaceful and relaxing! The only two things that could be improved to make this place more comfortable is the stairs going up to the main bedroom (they’re very difficult to walk on because they’re not super stable and consistent and there’s no railing on the right hand side) and the composting toilet which was a little stinky but it did help to keep the bathroom door shut! Overall, we had an amazing weekend and were amazed by how beautiful the treehouse, the property, and the creek/nature surrounding were. Such an enchanted piece of property!!

  • Such a beautiful little barn right next to a creek! It was quiet and secluded. Our 3 year old had a blast playing with the rocks by the creek. The screened in porch is absolutely amazing! Its perfect size for our family of 4 with plenty of trails near by. Perfect for a long weekend away.

  • Spectacular. My favorite Airbnb I've stayed in. 10/10 would actually live there.

    Brett2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • This house exceeded all of our expectations. It was clean, all the amenities we needed were provided, and it was the perfect peaceful getaway. Be prepared to spend most of your time playing darts and ping pong on the porch!

    Justin2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • The house itself is beautiful. The decor inside is all very nice. The porch was a great place to get work done with the creek flowing right under you. The house is a little tricky to get to from the south (very windy dirt road) so I recommend going through Burnsville and coming back down 197. The local information given to you when you book is extensive and very helpful. We took a few restaurant and hiking recommendations that were all better than we hoped. Overall, this a great stay and I strongly recommend it to anyone looking to explore the area!

    Jared2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • This house was an incredible place!! My partner and I stayed for a weekend away and were absolutely blown away by the naturak beauty, the great set up of the house and how kind and considerate Kerstin and John were. The wifi and the TV were excellent, and the shower was awesome, with great water pressure. Would absolutely stay here again and I'd encourage anybody else to do the same!!

    Iris2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing interior and very cozy. If you need a getaway to a quiet mountain side, I recommend this place.

    Ilwhan2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • John & Kerstin's cabin was wonderful! Being next to the creek was so nice- the sound of the water was so peaceful. It was also very clear that they took time to think through everything we may need in the kitchen, which was very helpful! Their communication was excellent- would definitely return!

  • Truly a beautiful place. The best airbnb I’ve ever stayed at! The view is great, the area is quiet and close access to hikes, and the cabin is so cozy. Not a single bad thing to say about this place!

    Jenny2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Everything about Field and Honey cabin is perfect. The location, the incredible view of the mountains, the coziness of the cabin, the decor, all the thoughtful little touches, the inviting outdoor space. I have always dreamed of a quiet mountain getaway and Field and Honey was better than any dream. This spot will always have a special place in my heart. We had an incredible stay.

    Nika2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Field & Honey was by far my favorite AirBnB experience. Kristi was prompt, professional, and personal! The personal touches in the cabin made this a an ideal place for me to catch some R&R yet still have all of the comforts of home. The cabin is located in a private location which offered the quiet and peacefulness I was searching for. Their are lots of great recommendations on things to do in or around the area , but for those bad weather or down days, Kristi has thought of all the right touches to keep you occupied and cozy. Perfect place!

    Chris2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Wow, this is definitely a special place. From the little, thoughtful touches to the amazing, cool decor, we loved every bit of it. Would recommend to anyone. It is about 45 minutes away from Asheville, and there’s ample hiking right in the area to enjoy. We really loved unwinding in front of the beautiful fireplace every night with a glass of wine. What a treat!

    Rebecca2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect getaway in the mountains! Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for some relaxation.

    Sarah2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • This was the PERFECT cabin to relax and recharge. We picked this location because of the beautiful views, its proximity to Asheville and nearby hiking trails. While most cabins feel outdated, this one did not. She did an amazing job updating and decorating this cabin. Kristi was a wonderful host and thought of everything (i.e., welcome snacks, bath robes) to make her place feel like home. Kristi was very responsive and had great suggestions. Highly recommend this hidden gem.

    Patricia2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • The Field and Honey cabin and all the personal touches Kristi has put into the space are just wonderful. The cabin is so cozy and very clean. Hygge at its finest! Everything has been thought of as far as making the space feel like a home with a stocked kitchen, grilling gear, and bathroom products . The fireplace with plenty of wood was the perfect place to relax. The bed was very comfortable. The area surrounding the cabin was beautiful- it was too cold to spend much time on the deck, but we saw deer and cows grazing through the windows. The thoughtful and personalized welcome treats left by Kristi were the icing on a fantastic retreat!

    Libby2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • What an incredible find! Sparkling clean, beautifully appointed and oh-so-Instagrammable, this cabin radiates Hygge vibes from every corner. We were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary and Kristi thoughtfully provided a special treat for us upon arrival! The setting is isolated and private, without being remote. There are forest and mountain views outside of every window. It is close enough to town that you can run to a store for anything you may have forgotten, but you aren't going to want to leave. The minute we walked in (I hadn't even put my bag down), I told my husband I was sorry we had booked such a short stay. We will be back!

Aka “Trout lily cottage” is a place to disconnect from technology and re-connect with nature.
Update* Mattress toppers have been put on the beds and they are now very comfortable! The fireplace is electric and does not work! There is no WiFi and very poor cell service here (only Verizon works). It is a very steep drive way and a little tricky to find at night, but I will send you very clear instructions. It is an Entire 2 bedroom house with plenty of forest for walking! There is a full bath and a half bath attached to the master bedroom. This is time to disconnect from technology in an open spacious place clean environment! There is also a futon on the back screened in porch, that pulls out into a bed and is delightful to sleep on. FYI the back door , is tricky to lock/ unlock, you just have to pull the door up to do either!
A ten minute drive to the OOTD Gallery and Maples coffee shop, where they host weekly jams on Saturdays! 15 minute drive from Burnsville where you can find a grocery store and a small downtown with restaurants and shops, or Spruce Pine which also has a very cute downtown with many dining options.
  • It’s a nice space, very quiet, in beautiful woods surrounded by ridges. Kitchen, w& d, heat- all you need for comfort. No unnecessary frills added that jack up the price, which I appreciate. Great response time. Only drawback is the driveway but it is easy to park as far down it as necessary and walk.

    Jennifer2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • Julia’s place was perfect for our last minute trip to the beautiful mountains of Burnsville! We enjoyed sitting on the futon on the back porch during thunderstorms and listening to the creeks and rain. The driveway was pretty difficult, but my Honda Accord made it up to the top. The oven didn’t have a knob, but that gave us a great excuse to go get brunch and see the town in the daytime. Burnsville is gorgeous, and we would stay here again!

    Taylor2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect place for a quiet get away to rest and recharge from the craziness of life. Far enough away from the main road but close enough that you can venture out if you want to.

    Elizabeth2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Great accommodation for someone wanting to spend a short time on a rural setting

    Sergiu2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • This house was perfect for me and friends to have a getaway weekend. It’s small but very spacious and the rooms are bigger than expected. Julia suggested restaurants for us and also gave exact directions to the house. I hope to be staying here again in the future!!

    Jenna2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • This place is perfect! The backyard leads up to beautiful trails, also only 30ish minutes to one of the most isolated peaks on the Appalachian trail, Mt. Mitchell. Julia gave perfect directions and was very kind about checking in a little early.

    Mitchell2019-12-13T00:00:00Z
  • Such a great experience. I have never used Airbnb but this was an awesome house and we all enjoyed it.

    Tim2019-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • Julia’s cabin is the perfect place to stay if you’re looking for a nice, quiet mountain retreat! It’s in a great spot nestled in the mountains close to plenty of trails and waterfalls. Crabtree Falls was one of our favorites, totally worth checking out! The bed was super comfortable and they are plenty of extra blankets. Our favorite part was the back porch, the futon is the best place to read a book and listen to nature. As for the driveway, it seems intimidating when you first go up but after the first time you get the hang of it. I was in a Toyota Camry and had no issues. Me and my boyfriend already miss the place! Can’t wait for our next trip!

  • Carolyn's place is great. We found it very clean and plenty of room for myself, my wife and our two dogs. The cottage is roomy, the appliances are new. It was a cold weekend when we were there and the gas fireplace kept us plenty warm. The view of Celo knob is outstanding as well. We would definitely recommend staying there.

    Doug2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Very well-done space. Quiet and cozy. The gas fireplace made it very pleasant and relaxing to stay warm.

    Jamie2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommend Carolyn’s place. We had a late check in, Carolyn accommodated us amazingly. The light was left on and the place was super easy to find and check in. We only stayed a night, but was much cozier than a hotel, and would definitely stay longer for future trips. Carolyn had great communication with us, and responded to our messages promptly. Thank you again for allowing us to stay at your place!!!

    Nathaniel2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was a perfect for a weekend getaway! We wish we could have stayed one more day. Hiking around the property was fun, but as they noted take caution because it can be rather slippery. We also struggled a little bit down by the water because we were having to climb up rocks and over knocked down branches. However, we were fine with it since we had proper hiking gear. We can't wait to come back for another visit!

    Lauren2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Grate value. Good host

  • This cute little cabin is exactly what my friend and I needed to get away from our busy lives. It was both of our first visit to the mountains and we loved it. Amazing views and great hiking trails that you didn’t even have to leave the property for. It’s nothing fancy but that’s what gives it its charm. Definitely would stay here again.

We’re all about that!
I CAME HERE TO FIND MYSELF. IT'S SO EASY TO GET LOST IN THE WORLD. -John Burroughs- The quietude and serenity here will make you think you’re the only one(s) in The Back of Beyond with the exception of an occasional melodious outburst from the rooster Red, or the soft clucking of his bevy of egg-laying beauties. He and his ladies dwell at the Chick Inn at the end of Chicken Alley which meanders alongside our veggie and herb/flower gardens. It’s possible you may hear a small in stature/large in personality Shih Tzu pup or two using their words to welcome you. We delight in having the queen bed comfortably dressed for your arrival. The pristine bathroom is completely tiled with a smooth rock floor. The Asian-style rain shower (there's room for two if you like company) will bring a refreshing finish to your day before you slip between soft sheets to be lulled into a satisfying slumber (I’m a hopeless romantic). Here's another Wabi-Sabi special touch: To let you know how glad we are to have you here, we prepare a yummy breakfast the first morning (or when it works best with your plan) and deliver it either to your stoop or to your patio - your choice. You prepare your beverage; we bring your breakfast. Let us know your time preference. It'll be there. It's your call whether to eat in or on your patio. Breakfast in bed is an option - just let me know. If you can't wait to get on with your day, I'm happy to make you a 'bagfast' (a to-go breakfast in a bag.) For your other mornings, you might enjoy visiting the renovated Ingles Supermarket just 7 minutes away or one of Burnsville's breakfast-serving eateries. There are no actual cooking facilities at the Inn. Nada. Hey! You’re on holiday - that's no time to be standing over a hot stove. We provide you with a fridge, K-cup coffee maker, electric tea kettle, and toaster oven. We think of them as necessary little conveniences. There are beverages - java, teas, waters, hot chocolate with accouterments. Everything is right there at your fingertips in Wabi-Sabi. If you can’t bear to leave Shangri-la (...there are those who haven't!) and you’re jonesing for a quiet dinner at home, you do the take-out ordering from your choice of eateries in town; and if you'd like, my cabana boy husband (CB) will pick up and deliver to you. Then you go straight to wining and dining by candlelight on your garden-side patio. If you're chilly and/or need a bit more ambiance to set the stage, a gas-lit fire pit is right there.
The Wabi-Sabi Inn is a mere 8-9 minutes’ drive from the hustle-bustle of very artsy Burnsville with it’s thriving Town Square. Just after you leave our paved driveway you’ll traverse a very short patch of honest-to-goodness pitted, rutty gravel country road. Take some deep breaths...it's over in just a minute... Then it's yours to experience a relaxing drive into the village, passing idyllic hills and pastoral valleys dotted with well-loved, nestled-in homesteads. Some look very much like days of yore. Yesteryear. Days gone by. Ahhh...the charm of it is awe-inspiring. Just wait and see!
  • We absolutely loved Birds place! She could not have been more helpful with getting us there and making sure we had everything we needed. It’s a perfect spot for a mountain getaway. We would definitely stay there again!!

  • How does one even begin to describe what a stay at Wabi-Sabi does for the body, mind and soul? This place upon the mountain, and the family who lives here, are treasures upon the planet. Kind, warm-hearted, caring, and concerned, they look after their guest’s every need. I will miss them as much as I will miss this sacred space The cottage is quaint, cozy and artfully decorated. Inside and out there are captivating things that catch the eye everywhere you look, and one of my favorite things to do was to open the curtains in the morning and watch the chickens roaming freely right outside my door! I was so blessed to be here for a period of time where I saw the beauty of fall and the last of the gardens amazing flowers, as well as the first snow of the season and the magic of it sparkling under a full moon. There is so much here I will carry with me when I leave including a pile of heart rocks I found on my daily walks up to the ridge for the exercise and for the enchantment I found along the way, especially the heart made of snow! I chose to have Bird’s special breakfast at the end of my stay, and I will tell you, it was well worth the wait. Scrumptious beyond compare and a delight to the eyes in its presentation! I’ll look forward to returning just for the breakfast Bird so lovingly makes with care. Thank you for a most delightful stay. I am in gratitude for my time spent here and most especially for the time spent with each of you.

  • This is a super cute little cottage in the mountains. Bird greets you with a smile and shows you how to use everything in the space. It is also easy to communicate with her through messaging if you have any issues. She is also an amazing cook, and she made me a gluten free breakfast on my first morning there using eggs from the chickens they raise on the mountain. The space is perfect for a solo get-away and maybe for a couple. I don't think it could accommodate more than that. If you are just looking for a quick get-away, this place may be right for you. I was there to work on a manuscript and felt I had all the amenities I needed.

  • Our stay at Bird’s exceeded our expectations. She is the epitome of a “super host”. She was never intrusive, yet was always available if we needed anything, which we did not. Her hideaway is heavenly, very private but also close to the town of Burnsville. She created a very lovely, peaceful spot to recharge our spirit. The bed was so comfortable and the view from the sliding doors outside was spectacular. Our breakfast she served on the first morning was exceptional: fresh eggs from her chicks and other small touches that made it especially yummy. Bird is such a creative person and her attention to detail is evident in how she runs her Air BnB. We will definitely be returning to stay at her delightful abode. This has been our best Air BnB experience so far. You can’t go wrong staying here.

  • Our stay at the Wabi was every bit as magically as we could have imagined. Bird and CB (Maurice 😀) were the superstar host I never expected. I knew I would have a great experience just from prior communication with Bird but my oh my I didn’t expect the phenomenal experience we had. From the moment we arrived Bird was waiting for us with a smile so bright she puts the sun, moon and stars to shame! The detailed tour she gives is so very helpful. It saves you the headache of trying to find things. I love that she tells you where everything is so you can just get straight on with your day. The decor at the Wabi is cozy, romantic, whimsical, and filled with love. The little note she leaves and gift is such a sweet touch. The bed is absolutely comfortable and I have never slept so well out of town before. Not once did I wake up and have trouble falling back asleep. Every possible thing you can think of sand/or need Bird thought of. It’s funny because as she gave us a tour she mentioned an extra unused tooth brush in one of the drawers. I laughed inside because I actually did forget my tooth brush at home and the fact that she had one was just fate. We brought along our 3 month old son and he enjoyed it as well. Waking up and sitting outside listening to the waterfall and hearing the chickens and rooster was awesome for him. I made a joke that he is finally hearing real white noise instead of white nose on his Spotify 😀! Bird was always available for questions no matter what time you contacted her. And don’t let me forget the breakfast she provided for us. All fresh ingredients from her garden and eggs from her chicken. We have never ate food so fast and told everyone about it. It was the best food we had our entire stay! It is the perfect setting to pour a glass of wine and cozy up outside by the fire pit which we did! Again Bird thinks of every detail! It’s definitely a perfect romantic getaway and perfect for a small family! You will NOT regret choosing the Wabi-Sabi for your stay. I will definitely stay there again! Thank you so much Bird and we love you forever! ❤️

  • You will be treated like long lost friends. Bird will take amazing care of you and the accommodations are so beautiful and welcoming. I will be back!

  • The Waba Sabi Inn is a little piece of paradise in the North Carolina Mountains. Bird has paid such attention to all the details. She has created a truly relaxing haven if you want to get away from it all. You have everything you could possibly need in the Waba Sabi Inn, The bed is fabulously comfortable, and the rain shower is huge and wonderful. You can have your morning tea or coffee, and heat up things in the toaster oven. I enjoyed relaxing with my wine on the front porch area looking out over the beautiful mountain views and Bird's beautiful garden. The garden is lovely at night with twinkling lights, as is the porch with all the lovely lighting. Be sure to take a stroll down Chicken Alley and say hi to the girls! I arrived after dark and Bird was right there to greet me and show me around. She also kindly made me a breakfast bag to go on Saturday morning as I was in town to work the Mt Mitchell Art Show. To top off everything, Bird is an absolute delight! It was so special to get to meet her, I do hope to return to her lovely mountain retreat in the future. This was the best air bnb stay I have ever had. I highly recommend a stay at the Wabe Sabi Inn. It will recharge your batteries for sure!

  • The Wabi-Sabi is an absolute delight. Thoughtfully designed and appointed, the cottage was a great home-base for our stay, and Bird was entirely welcoming, accommodating, helpful and hospitable. You truly get a BnB-style experience here, and I recommend it as a great place to stay and explore the beautiful North Carolina mountains. The Wabi-Sabi is a whimsical, charming cottage tended to by a thoughtful host who loves what she does.

Nolichucky River at its front door and the Appalachian Trail in its back yard. Located in a beautiful campground surrounded by the Cherokee National Forest. My cabin accommodates 4 guests on 1 queen size bed and a set of bunk beds. Perfect for guests who are coming to enjoy outside activities such as tubing, rafting, kayaking, canoeing, swimming, hunting, or hiking. Restrooms and showers are located on the property. Pets are welcome. Don't forget to bring your fishing pole!
If you're looking for a budget-friendly cabin with a primitive rustic feel, then this cabin is for you. It has no bathroom or running water, however, we have a big shower house/restrooms for your convenience. Guests provide their own linens/blanket/pillow or sleeping bag. There is a dorm size refrigerator and a microwave. Enjoy the beautiful Nolichucky river. The views here are breathtaking.
  • Great cabins and great campground with amazing views. Definetely a great place for hiking, fishing and enjoying the outdoors. The cabin was clean and had AC and heat. There was only a microwave and small refridgerator, but that was expected. Each cabin has a fire pit that you can use to cook as well. Overall for the price it was a great stay and would definetely come again.

  • Lovely cabin to stay in for a hot weekend. Awesome for those who like to glamp. Had a small mini fridge, microwave and AC which we were very thankful for. The campground was well kept. Very full during our visit considering it was the 4th but still very enjoyable. The town in which the camp is located is very cute and close incase of emergencies. The river was spectacular. So many places to swim and hike. The camp even has its own private beach with snady shores and rocky beds to sit on. Overall great campground to stay at and still be able to explore the Appalachian Mountains. Would revisit.

This cozy little cabin is perfect for couples, solo adventurers, and seekers of solitude in Nature. It's very bare bones, no electric, no water, you provide your own bedding for the queen mattress. Its not for everyone, but its a beautifully secluded spot. The road up is very bumpy and can only be accessed with 4WD, otherwise its a 5-8 minute uphill walk. All guests are welcome to use the bathroom, shower and wifi down at the communal music house here.
  • Jared was amazing! The nights were cold and a cabin with a wood-burning stove was open, Jared was welcoming and let us stay there. It had a gorgeous view of the stars and kept us warm and comfortable. We loved our stay and would highly recommend Jared's place! The land was beautiful, the town was gorgeous, and our trip was fantastic!

    Lexi2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • It was so cool it was like haunted or some thing I had that spooky feel coming from Vermont just being in North Carolina was really neat and accommodations were perfect for me to take my own little mini adventures and work through my stuff getting my work done and traveling can be hard the space made it easy

    Christine Marie2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • This property is gorgeous. Hands down the best place I’ve stayed in the northern part of the pisgah. Jared was gracious enough to let me stay in another cabin that has a wood stove since it was going to be so cold. The cabin I was in, the cabin in the pictures above, and the campsite were all incredible and would be amazing places to stay (I hiked around the property to see the views).

    Ryan2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Jared was a great host. He offered us the cabin with the stove heater since the weekend was so cold, which was great. There was tons of space for my pups to run and explore which was a great change from our city living. I do wish I had stocked up on wood when we first got there since it rained the second day, highly recommend doing that. I don't have 4WD and parked just past the main house. I will say I had to take a break or two walking up to the cabin with my gear, so pack accordingly. Will definitely be back again!

    Lindsey2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • My stay here was amazing! Absolutely gorgeous and wonderful people to top! A truly unique, peacefully and adventurous place! I will definitely ve coming back!

    Lea2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had a really special stay in Jared’s cabin. We were booked to stay in a small cabin with one bed, but being that it was one of the coldest nights, Jared upgraded us free of charge to a bigger cabin with a bed and a loft and a wood burning stove. We were welcome to help ourselves to the wood on the property and we kept toasty all night long. The cabin is rustic, a work in progress. There is no electricity in the cabin, but with lots of candles and the wood stove going, it made for a really special experience. Everyone on the property and main house was friendly and welcoming. If you are looking for a quiet, earthy getaway this is the place. I hope to return again.

    Alia2019-11-09T00:00:00Z
  • Jared’s place was just as described. Loved the paintings inside the cabin. Was easy to get too and such a beautiful view.

    Crystal2019-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • This little cabin is so cute and relaxing! We had an amazing time during our weekend here. The cabin was clean and much warmer than expected! However, I will say that the 5-10 minute walk mentioned in the ad is no joke when you are carrying camping gear haha. I would definitely recommend staying here and we will definitely be back :)

  • use location on the Airbnb map to get there. It is near railroad but it doesn't matter! I was 48hours there just 2 times the train passed! Great for the price! 7 people can stay in the cottage! And there are 6 separate beds! Ronald is really helpful and generous! *** wonderful VHS tapes collection ***

  • This was the perfect place to escape from reality for a while and spend some quality time with my loved ones in a beautiful, natural landscape. We were able to hike on the local mountains and along the river that's right behind the house. Ronald was very attentive and gave us lots of friendly suggestions on activities to do. The place was spotless and they went above and beyond in maintaining the cleanliness. It was affordable and was able to handle all my family without raising the price drastically. This was also probably my dogs favorite trip we've ever been on, she loved being able to run loose outside with us. I highly recommend this place, you will create lasting memories here.

    Tristan2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • This is really an amazing place to stay at, right by the river, we couldn't have got a better place than this. Ron has an amazing collection of movies to enjoy and you'd be really glad he doesn't have WiFi there. Perfect place to get away from the daily life and enjoy nature here

  • My partner and I had a wonderful stay at Linda's cabin. The cabin is tucked away in the woods but is so close to the sweet town of Burnsville. Linda was a wonderful host. We ended up arriving much later than expected, and Linda was very kind about the whole ordeal. She graciously left some delicious muffins and other breakfast items to enjoy in the mornings before trekking around the area. A sweet kitty cat would greet us every morning and made us feel right at home. This cabin is a great getaway with perfect proximity to other great areas in the North Carolina Mountains. Linda provided some awesome recommendations, too!

    Allyson2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Linda was a lovely woman and host! She provided us with all of the best local tips and the BEST lemon poppyseed muffins. Stay for the muffins!!

    Hannah2019-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • Linda was extremely friendly and welcoming. Her cabin is perfect for a short getaway in the mountains. The screened in porch was our favorite part. It was great for enjoying nature with our morning coffee. The town of Burnsville is charming as well and there are plenty of great hikes just a short drive away.

    Sara2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • I loved the quiet of the woods, the bird calls and open windows. I wanted time alone to write but to feel safe and Linda being close by and her discreet contact was just right. Tiny little cabin and beautiful colorful bed made for a comfortable, lovely stay. Mornings on the front porch with good coffee and yogurt and granola meant I didn't need to go out for breakfast. The nearness of the little town of Burnsville was just right and dinner and an active town square meant there was always a little something to do. Saturday farmers market was perfect. Hiking and mountains and cool mountain air completed the picture!

    Jana2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had a marvelous time. If we didn’t ask Linda, no one else had accurate information, not even the visitors’ center. and we were lost or totally missed the venue. So , ask Linda. She was always ready for information. If you go and want to find something, always ask Linda. Everything we needed was provided with gracious hospitality. Linda did the dishes and took out our trash. If you are looking for a tiny space, this cabin in the woods is secluded but close to a cute little town so it is a perfect spot to sit on the porch . We hope others love it as much as we did. We would love to return someday.

    Susan2019-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful guest cabin in the treetops on the side of a mountain. Loved our stay. Linda was so sweet and such a great host. Will be back!

    Katie2019-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • The Rhododendron Cabin was absolutely perfect for our vacation to the mountains of North Carolina. My husband and I stayed there for 3 wonderful nights. It was just what we needed. Linda left us breakfast of muffins, yogurt, and oatmeal as well as coffee and tea. There is a refrigerator, coffee pot, and electric kettle in the cabin. Linda supplied plenty of linens and dishes, replenishing what we needed. She had great suggestions for dinner and hiking. The cabin is located at the end of a road down a short private drive. It is just out of the town of Burnsville on the side of a mountain. There are two small creeks running beside the cabin, which you can hear from inside. We saw and deer and turkeys on our way to and from Burnsville. Burnsville is an awesome small town, with great hiking nearby, good restaurants, a brewery, and our favorite coffeeshop. We felt right at home there. We definitely want to come back.

    Mary Anne2019-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely ADORE this place. My husband and I love it here so much, we decided to get married here. Linda and Tom are the most wonderful people and gracious hosts. They always have great suggestions for food and hiking spots. The minifridge is stocked with water and snacks. There is a little goodie basket on the counter that is filled with delicious snacks that really came in handy on our hikes. It is cool enough to sleep with the windows open every night and hear the stream flowing and birds singing. Everyone in town is beyond friendly - we found a little coffee shop in the town square (just down the road) that has the most amazing apple pie. We ended up eating breakfast there almost every morning. You do need to be careful of the wildlife on the drive up.. throughout our stay we saw deer, turkey (with babies), rabbits, and groundhogs. This place is absolutely perfect for a little getaway. It is close to town but you feel like you are in a woodland wonderland when staying here. We can't wait for our next trip!

This listing is not for everyone, but perfect for some, please read the details about the space before booking. This listing is all about the site and the view, not the bus. The bus is old, the door doesn't fully close, theres no electric/ac, just a table, desk and a mattress. It's really just there for added privacy/shelter. Its private, there's a fire-pit and a picnic table. You can use the bathroom/shower/wifi after a short walk down to the main house here at the music/arts retreat.
Below are some things to consider to make sure its still a good fit, the last thing I want is anyone to come here and have any sort of negative experience. Potential Downsides: No Electricity No Heat/AC No Firewood No Linens/bedding Bus is very rustic. outdoorsy folk don't mind it, but its not at all nice on the inside, its a super old and it shows. The longterm plans are to finish out the inside, but thats at least a few years down the list. As for now it serves to make the site even more private and as an effective shelter. Potential for mice in the bus. Since the door cannot fully close I cannot guarantee a mouse will not come in, especially if you bring food in. Now for the Positives! A one of a kind campsite. A firepit Epic view Shelter from rain Mattress and pillows An extra tent that you can set up and a cot stored under the bus. Wi-fi, bathroom/shower, electricity, kitchen, instruments and musicians a short walk away. Hiking on the land A small waterfall here on the property that you can stand under for a rejuvenating rush of cold mountain water.
  • This place is awesome. The view is ridiculous for the price and the common area is a great place to clean up, get work done, or meet new people. I cannot wait to come back!

We lived in and loved our tiny home for two years and have now opened it up for other tiny house enthusiasts to enjoy! Tucked away in the mountains of WNC on our two acre homestead, our tiny home on wheels allows our guests to experience "tiny house living" while enjoying the comforts of home at their finger tips (sometimes, literally!). The home is a 35 minute picturesque drive to downtown Asheville (& more!) So come escape, explore, and enjoy - we look forward to having you!
Our tiny house was designed and built (by us) with comfort in mind, we didn't want it to feel tiny or cluttered or cramped. The number one comment we get when people enter the tiny house is how spacious it feels and we tend to agree. There are 9 strategically placed windows throughout to let in a ton of natural light while still providing privacy so you don't feel like you're on display. Most of the windows are awning windows which means they can stay open in the rain without letting any water inside (a must for those lovely summer storms and the mountain breeze at night). Our tiny house also suits those who are on the taller side, the clearance in the bathroom is 6'8" and the shower head in the bathtub is recessed into the ceiling for additional room. The sleeping loft features a low profile king (yes, King!) mattress, more than enough room for a couple. Downstairs is a daybed with a memory foam twin mattress that runs the length of the short end of the house - no tiny bench seat here! The daybed is great for lounging in the afternoon, reading a book, watching a movie, and can double as an additional sleeping area if needed. The kitchen is very telling of our personalities, I'm an avid home cook and my husband is a professional chef. So the sink is huge, the stove top is huge, and the fridge is big for a tiny house. The only thing we couldn't fit is a traditional oven for baking, but we have put in a small toaster oven for our guests. If you're not the type to cook on vacation, you'll find many of our favorite eat/drink spots in the area on the Airbnb guide and you're always welcome to ask us for suggestions based on your tastes or cravings, we're happy to help! Guests may also use the charcoal grill outside when the weather permits. We're happy to provide charcoal, lighter and grill brush. We provide ground coffee (including decaf), various quality teas, sugar, salt, pepper, cooking oil, as well as an array of kitchen utensils and cooking essentials. Depending on season and availability, we try to share our farm fresh duck eggs and goodies from the garden with our guests. Help yourself to any food or drink you find in the kitchen. Some toiletries are provided and can be found in the bathroom - we ask that you use the soap/shampoo products provided as they are all biodegradable, a must for the grey water system of the tiny house. The bathroom is fitted with a combo bathtub and shower, the water is on demand and nice and hot. The composting toilet is easy to use - there's no mess, no smell, nothing to fear. Simply read the simple instruction card located in the bathroom and you'll be fine. There is a small collection of books and board games for you to enjoy on those lazy days, there is also access to WIFI and a 36 inch Smart TV. The WIFI Password will be provided at check in. You're welcome to sign into your own Smart TV streaming apps, just make sure to sign out when you check out. Our ladder to the loft is steep but it is very sturdy and has handrails on each side. We have used it daily with no issue, most of the time we had an infant/toddler or laptop in one hand and navigated it just fine. * But, please do be careful if you're not used to climbing up and down ladders. * Outside there is a nice sitting area with a bench, two chairs and a table. There is a sun-shade that helps shade the area in the high summer sun. A charcoal grill with coals and accessories is available in the warmer months for outdoor cooking. There is a large fire pit with Adirondack chairs for relaxing (firewood and fire starter available for a small fee upon request).
The tiny house is located West of Burnsville, a scenic 35 minutes to downtown Asheville. The tiny house is a half mile from the "highway", there are no difficult country roads to maneuver, and it is easily accessible in the winter without 4WD. It is less than 10 minutes to downtown Burnsville where there are a few coffee shops, restaurants, grocery stores, adorable town square, farmer's market, bookstore, etc. Other adorable little towns nearby are Spruce Pine (15 mins), Mars Hill (15 mins), Weaverville (20 mins). Distances to other attractions: Penland School of Crafts - 30 min Mt. Mitchell (highest point East of the Mississippi) - 1 hour along the gorgeous Blue Ridge Parkway Marshall - 45 mins Hot Springs - 1 hour Emerald Village (Wizard of OZ theme park) - 30 minutes Toe River (river access and seasonal swimming pool) - 20 minutes Charlotte Airport - 2 hours 20 minutes Asheville Airport - 45 minutes
  • Great place for one person, had everything you need

    Guillermo2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • What a great and cozy tiny home. I loved the sounds of the pigs and ducks outside. We had a great fire one night right outside. The kitchen in the house is spectacular.

    Fred2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • The tiny house was amazing! Elsa did a great job of listing all the details you need to know about the house and the area. We greatly enjoyed our stay and how accessible Elsa was. We weren’t huge fans of the composting toilet, but it was VERY fairly communicated in the details she lists about the tiny house and we decided it would still be worth the trip. All in all, this was the perfect place to relax and get away.

    Victoria2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • This is such an amazing space. I was lucky enough to stay for one night. I will for sure be back with my husband And hopefully stay a few days longer. So many thoughtful touches and super clean. I am no longer frightened by the thought of a composting toilet. LOL

    Claudia2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely and charming, made us want to rush home and speed up our plans for our own tiny house! Very clean and well laid out space. The cat was so sweet and listening to the Ancona ducks quack quack away was charming and atmospheric. We will be back :)

  • We loved the tiny house! It was fun and new. Would definitely recommend!

    Vanesa2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Such a great place for a get away weekend!! Would definitely go back!

    Lauren2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely magnificent! After our last debacle with AirBnB in Sydney, I thought we wouldn't use it again, but Elsa and Alex single-handedly restored our faith in AirBnB and the quality of hosts. The house itself is so comfortable and spacious; we never felt that we were without any of our 'normal' things (refrigerator, cooking options, comfortable bed, etc.). The many windows and natural light added the perfect touch. I greatly appreciated the prompt communication, as it can be stressful being in a new location and accommodation and having to wonder or worry. Elsa and Alex are truly 'Super Hosts', doing it all the right way, and we cannot thank them enough for sharing such a beautiful, wonderful space! :)

  • It’s what it looks like, a cozy space in an old airstream, definitely worth the price. Brett accepted our stay request just hours before we arrived and greeted us outside and showed us how to use everything. The space heater was since it’s cold out and everything we could need was in there!

  • Everything was beautiful and perfect! I’m so in love with this space! It’s close to town so I was able to visit the local brewery and the local artists shops are absolutely amazing! I will be back in summer to take advantage of the TONS of places to swim and get in the water.

  • Highly recommend! Had an amazing stay. Such a great host with quick responses. Great place to disconnect and get lost in the stars!

    Valery2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • so cute! It is like glamping. Had everything we needed. the space heater warmed up the room perfectly fine. only thing is- bring snacks if you don't know how to use a fire to cook stuff like us haha. A very cute vibe. Loved it

    Molly2020-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • What a cute, little loft! My boyfriend and I loved our stay here. It was located in a great part of town, close enough to the mountains, downtown area, Asheville, and local vineyards. Just be sure to bring extra blankets in the winter time :)

    Grace2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • This was a cute little space in the middle of the mountains. If you’re staying here in the winter make sure to bring blankets! However, there was a heater that produced plenty of heat. Simple but very homey with so many cute little touches that gave a whimsical feel!

    Erin2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Such a cute and stylish loft! The space is perfectly located to amazing hiking along the blue ridge parkway!! Communication with host was fantastic! Hope to stay here again!

  • Jamie’s place is a great if your looking to stay indoors with small details that make you feel like you’re camping, great way to disconnect from tv/ social media and bond with friends or your partner although WiFi is still provided. The deck is absolutely beautiful at night, you can sit and watch the stars or build a small fire with cooking utilities provided for you. The place is private and our dogs were safe and had a great time. If outdoors gets a chilly you are provided with two small heaters that do the job. The walk to the bathroom is not far at all, but it can be quite difficult in the middle of the night if cold/mobility issues. Over all place is described exactly how it is, wonderful stay, great hospitality and beautiful touches inside. 100 percent would stay and recommend this place.

    Arianna2019-12-19T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a gem! Very comfortable and super cute! We ran into Jamie a few times and she was super sweet and welcoming. Everything is as described in the post- Jamie provides EVERYTHING you could possibly need for your stay. I was skeptical abt the bed bc the other reviews said it was like sleeping on the floor but it was not at all. It was firm but definitely comfortable. We did not get a chance to use the outdoor kitchen because it rained while we were there but we took advantage of everything else and we had an amazing time! The perfect getaway to disconnect and be one with nature! We would definitely book again!

We have two hike-in cabins along the South Toe river. Each cabin has two beds and sleeps 4. Each site has a BBQ grill and covered picnic table and fire pit. There are two bathrooms with sinks and toilet that are located in an adjacent building but no showers. There is a small wood stove in each cabin, which creates a nice cozy and warm stay in the winter months. Dogs are welcome but need to be on a leash as there are a lot of deer in the area!
The cabins are located on 67 acres. Great place for groups as we also have tent sites available. Matt has wood split for wood stoves and fire pits. Wood has been covered and is dry. We will haul your gear for you and if someone needs a ride we can drive them down too on our ATV but otherwise it is a .5 mile hike in to the cabins.
We are located about 30 minutes from Mt Mitchell; The Blue Ridge Parkway is about 12 miles away; we have river access along the South and North Rivers
  • An amazing stay with amazing hosts. This is a cozy cabin on a beautiful river with a stove to keep you warm on chilly nights. Matt and Robin's space blew our expectations out of the water. Although the cabins are off the gird, they've built a bathroom with running water via a natural spring and have well-lit everything with solar panels. If you bring a Coleman stove and some face/baby wipes, you have all the creature comforts that you need. The property is fun to explore and very dog friendly. Between hiking around and exploring Asheville, we spent our nights in the cabin stargazing, reading, and playing poker using creamer packets as chips, and battleship using hand-drawn grids. We can't wait to come back to swim and kayak in the summer.

    Tasmin2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • This place is amazing! The half-mile walk to the cabin is not bad at all, and the cabin is right in front of a river where you can fish. Both beds are in the same room with the wood stove in between. The wood stove kept us warm the whole night, and the cabin had more than enough wood to last us the whole weekend. There is no electricity, but the cabin and bathroom has solar powered lights that last up to 5 hours! Matt helped us bring our bags down to the cabin and unloaded for us as well. We had such an amazing time that we already planning a trip in the summer!

    June2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking to get away for awhile, this is the place. Absolutely beautiful. Matt helped me and my pup settle in and kept the fire going. Highly recommend hiking boots as you will walk a somewhat steep .5 mile walk to the cabin. But the seclusion is worth it. You’ll hear the river babbling down below. I will definitely be back in the summer to see the trees in full bloom! So pretty!!

    Alicia2019-12-14T00:00:00Z
  • This place is amazing. Matt is very kind and he answers all the questions you have about the area. The cabin and restroom are very clean. We had more than enough wood for fire pit and stove. We will come back again for sure. Thank you Matt and Robin.

    Ismet2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was perfect for us during our stay. Matt and Robin were extremely kind and knowledgeable on the property history as well as the surrounding area. Matt helped us start a fire our first night and showed us some beautiful spots to explore during our stay. It was the perfect getaway from the busy city and we cannot wait to go back!

    Christina2019-11-28T00:00:00Z
  • Pictures do not give it justice, you must see for yourself! The host made sure our cabin was warm with a fire waiting for us and helped transport our gear to the cabin so we didn't have to carry it down. The cabin and bathroom areas are very clean and tidy. My son didn't want to leave and we already want to go back.

    Irene2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Matt met us as we parked our car in the lot. He assisted us with bringing our few belongings to the cabin. We took a short hike to the cabin and were immediately in awe. 2 cabins sat about 200 feet from each other. We saw the people who occupied the other one as we were walking up, then not again until we left. Cleverly placed to offer privacy, the extremely spacious cabin included 2 queen sized beds and a large dining table. The beds were fully furnished with clean linens (trust me, I thoroughly check every time). The cabin had several lighting options that were solar and battery operated. The wood stove was well kept and more than enough firewood was available to fuel both the stove and outside fireplace for several days. The view was amazing. The cabins are placed next to old railroad tracks, and nearly at the base of the hill. They offered some of the most amazing scenery I’ve ever seen in North Carolina. At night, you appreciate the seclusion as you get the fireplace going and a million stars all shine down on you. I know we just left, but we can’t wait to visit again.

    Jeremey2019-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • Pictures don’t do the place justice. The cabin is so cozy. The water is beautiful, the trees were in full fall mode and we couldn’t have asked for more. The stars shine so bright at night. Matt was so accommodating and helpful, and full of fun facts about the history of the land. We had to leave early morning but definitely wish we had more time. We will be back!

  • Jacuzzi tub, incredible views, amazing hosts, delicious biscuits and a good deep rest. This was our experience staying in the Smokey Mountains with Sue. The last night of our honeymoon was well spent with good, kind people, breathtaking visuals and at least 11 wild turkeys, which came up out of the forest to welcome us as we pulled up to the drive. :D We had a truly great stay and an authentic Smokey Mountains experience. Thank you, Sue, for the lovely private tour and all the special and sweet touches like those delicious eggy cheesy biscuits you left for us. Delicious! And a sweet and lovely thank you to your husband for the festive light bottles to help celebrate our special occasion. Best Wishes to you both <3

  • Sue and Tom were wonderful hosts. I was coming from the Bare Dark Sky observatory and Sue was still there to greet me even with my late arrival. She was extremely accommodating and the space was lovely. I was surprised by the breakfast biscuits that she left for us to have for breakfast. Definitely a great stay!

  • Sue was very nice and I booked for a last min business trip and she was very accommodating definitely would recommend.

  • Our stay with Sue was nothing but perfect. The pictures don't lie, the view really is that amazing, and the property even has a few short trails down to the beautiful river nearby. The apt itself was perfect for four people, with two queen beds in separate rooms. The bathtub was awesome after a long day of snowboarding! Everything was clean and there was even coffee for us in the morning.

  • A wonderful experience on a great stay. This house has all the peace and quiet you will need to relax and get away from busy cities and crowded places. The wild life surrounds the area mostly white tail deers and wild turkeys. Also you will see ranch animals like cows and horses. The views while you drive around are breathtaking. I definitely recommend Vanda & Mario’s property for a vacation in the mountains.

  • This is a great mountain get-away! The beds are very comfortable, the space well -situated, and the hosts are very responsive! The location is perfect for day trips out to hiking trails, small towns, and water sports. Highly recommend!

  • We loved the quiet peacefulness and the beauty of the mountains. We were able to spend time checking out the local arts, listening to music in Asheville, then returning to the sounds of the creek and the butterfly bushes full of monarchs. Thanks for sharing your place.

Welcome to Three Pines—our mountain home in Burnsville, NC! Our 2 bd/1 bath home sits within the mountains and offers serenity you won't find in the city. We are close to Asheville, but far enough that you can enjoy privacy & relaxation in the great outdoors-kayak, walk to the nearby swimming hole, visit waterfalls, hike Mt Mitchell-- or enjoy a day in playing games by the fireplace followed by an evening roasting smores on the firepit while you listen to the rush of the creek water nearby.
This home features 2 bedrooms/1 bathroom for 5 guests with additional sleeping possible on 1 of 2 couches located within the home (1 couch located in the loft-style second bedroom along with the queen size bed, the other is located in the living room space). Within the home you will find an easy to operate remote control fireplace where you can relax on the brand new "sink in" couch while you play a variety of the newly provided board games around the fire. Take advantage of the provided WiFi and TV equipt with Netflix to enjoy a movie with your family! Spend time on the screened in porch swinging on the porch swing and enjoying a cup of coffee, tea or cocoa from the newly created hot beverage bar. Spend your days lying in the hammock reading a good book and evenings by the fire pit making smores while listening to the rustling creek in the background
A 45-50 minute drive will land you in the beautiful and unique Asheville! If you love history, or are a romantic at heart, visit the Biltmore Estates and explore the largest residential home in the United States built by George Vanderbilt for his lovely wife. Asheville's downtown has a lot to do no matter what your taste's are! Take a trip to the Pinball Museum (where you can not only play on vintage pinball machines but also on old gaming systems like Nintendo, Atarti, Sega, etc). Take a nightly ghost tour or a brewery tour to one of the many breweries within the city (Asheville is known for its breweries!) Visit some of the best restaurants with food ranging from Southern Style cooking to Burgers and BBQ to Carribean options! Visit the arts district and check out some amazing local artists or try your hand at glassblowing. No matter what you do, you will leave feeling like you could keep coming back and still not experience all the city has to offer!
  • Jake and Krista's cabin is a wonderful place to stay! The location is amazing, and the views of the surrounding mountains are beautiful. The swimming hole and waterfall are great additions as well. Overall, the cabin is definitely recommended!

  • Cozy and cute little cabin. Perfect for a secluded getaway!

    Kayla2020-03-08T00:00:00Z

  • Loved the view of the pond. Lots of games to play. Super clean. Such a wonderful way to relax and unwind from the craziness of it all... highly recommend this cozy little retreat in the mountains.

  • We highly recommend staying here! It’s a beautiful cabin that makes you feel right at home. The hosts were simply awesome people. They have a binder full of menus from restaurants, maps of the trails, as well as different local shops and retailers, which definitely came in handy! The cabin has literally everything you need, from extra blankets to mixing bowls/utensils and camping chairs. There is privacy between the surroundings cabins. When you pull onto the property, you can hear is the peaceful sounds of the creek. The fire pit seats a large amount of people. Between the crackling of the fire and the sounds of the creek... it was simply perfect! 10/10 recommend for a family getaway or a couples retreat.

    Jared2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • The location could not have been better. The area is beautiful and looks like you are looking at pictures from a book. It is absolutely breathtaking. In order to get to the cabin you drive threw the mountains. The cabin is nestled in the back of the mountains. It is a beautiful drive. You will see mini waterfalls and creeks on the way to the cabin. We visited in February and were lucky to see some snow. The cabin had plenty of yard space and a great place for an outdoor fire. We were a little worried about 4 wheel drive, but we didn't need it. The cabin was very spacious and felt like home. We really enjoyed the fireplace and the games that were on the wall. The cabin was very clean and Krista was great communicating and giving us great recommendations on where to go. I would truly recommend this place to anyone going to the area.

    Liz2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I eloped this past weekend and spent the time in the mountains in this absolutely perfect spot! Gorgeous, comfortable, and wonderful! We hope to make it back in warmer months to enjoy the screened in porch.

Updated 30ft camper conveniently located just of Hwy 19E very close to the Toe River. Clean, rustic charm with all the basic necessities. Priced right for the small family or couple on a tight budget. Bring your fishing poles - you can fish on the property! Deer & Turkey Hunting in nearby Roaring Creek State Gamelands just 5 miles away. Sit on the porch and listen to the crickets and the bullfrogs, while enjoying the firepit. Convenient to many of the area's local attractions.
Bathroom is on the small side, so not space is not recommended for larger folks.
Rural, quiet neighborhood with friendly country folks.
  • The pictures don't give the surroundings justice. it is between the mountains down a steep drive way and there is a sign at the top stating "AIRBNB". It was perfect for the price!

  • Great getaway! Close enough to the ski resort but far enough away to unplug. Would definitely stay again in the future!

    LeAnn2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Allen’s place what pretty much what I expected. The pictures are accurate. It was a simple place to stay that was a good value for the price. It is old but has everything you need. The shower was hot and the bed was really comfortable. We brought our own blankets and sheets which was helpful because it got very cold at night. The location is great - about 20 minutes from Sugar Mountain skiing. The map is not accurate so it can be a bit difficult to find. Allen did have a helpful sign which was great once we were on the right road. If you are looking for a place to cook and be protected from the elements this is sufficient.

Hot tub and grill on the deck while enjoying the incredible 30 mile view of Celo Mountain, Blue Rock and 7 Mile Ridge. 10 Minutes to delightful Burnsville, groceries and shops. 45 minutes to Asheville. Hiking out the back door. Hiking trails, skiing, golfing, white water rafting and tubing, incredible zip lines, Blue Ridge Parkway, Appalachian Trail, Grandfather Mountain, Linville Caverns all less than an hour away. Wonderfully secluded, yet close to everything one might need.
Each bedroom has its own bathroom and views out the windows. The hot tub is on the main deck right outside the back door. The firepit is right off the main deck and there is plenty of firewood to be gathered in the nearby woods, or (usually) it can be purchased at the grocery store 10 minutes away in Burnsville. There are frequently wild turkey and deer visible from the house.
  • Excellent...Views are amazing..kids loved the hot tub. Close to a ton of places... we just had a relaxing weekend away and it was the perfect spot. The dogs loved it too. Can’t wait to come back.

  • Deena and Peirce's place was such a lovely respite! Gorgeous views, miles of trails right out the back door, not too far from town for coffee and groceries, and the best dogs ever. We didn't see Deena much but she was pleasant and responsive with all our needs; Peirce was a great tour guide along the trails and told us all about the history of the farm. We'd stay again in a heartbeat!

  • We spent an awesome Valentine's Day weekend at the cottage with our two small dogs - had a great stay, even if it was a bit too cold to sit outside by the fire pit. The quiet, remote setting is perfect for unwinding. You could hike all day on their property, or spend the day driving around the mountains. The cottage is well furnished, the kitchen is well stocked, and the wifi/Roku works great. And the stars at night.... oh, my! - Cliff & Kathleen

    Cliff2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely enjoyed our time spent at the cottage and on the property. Even though it snowed then rained almost the entire time, we were still able to hike down to the river. I really enjoyed the cozy feel and the views were breathtaking! The drive up and down the mountain was fun too! Loved hanging out with the puppers and the fresh eggs were delicious. Location was great and we were able to experience Grandfather Mountain, Bristol Caverns, and downtown Ashville, all within an easy and beautifully scenic drive over our 4 days there. Would definitely recommend and hope to come back this summer

    Julie2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Deena and Peirce’s cabin. My husband and I were moving into the area and needed a place to stay for a few months until we found a more permanent home, and we were able to stay here. We had our two dogs with us who absolutely loved it. There was so much to do and see around the property. The property was beautiful. We really enjoyed the different trails that were just right behind our cabin. The cabin itself was cozy and it had everything we needed. Thanks Deena and Pierce for letting us stay!

    Thuc2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was so beautiful! Only 45 minutes to an hour away from Asheville, Roan Highlands, and Linville Gorge.

  • Quiet, cozy and relaxing!

    Clay2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Deena& Pierce’s cottage is warm and cozy and feels like home. Our 3 small children loved the place and made themselves at home right away. We enjoyed everything about the cottage on the inside and outside. The kids loved the fresh eggs and seeing the goats and horses.

    Joshua2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Rustic, cozy comfort in a very rural setting. Much roomier than a hotel with a real kitchen, outside grill and fire pit. Enjoyed the wooded walks, goats, and horses and the Southern hospitality! We didn’t want to leave.

A totally secluded campsite with an unbeatable view! Has a fire pit and benches. To be able to drive all the way to the site you must have 4WD, otherwise it is about a 4-8 minute uphill walk from parking. If its very wet even 4wd cant make it. The campsite is part of Snaggy Mountain, a musician/artist retreat and sustainable homestead, however the campsite is up on the other side of the property is totally secluded and absolutely beautiful.
If you are a musician, farmer, or interested in either then certainly inquire about getting a tour of solar powered music studio/stage and the tropical subterranean greenhouse. Campers can fill up water and use the restrooms down at the main house where the artist residents and farm interns live.
  • Jared is a phenomenal host and Snaggy Mountain Secluded Campsite is a blissful retreat into nature. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a special getaway.

    Will2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • My friends and I chose to camp at probably the worst time of the year (winter in the mountains) and yet somehow still had a phenomenal time. We started out at the private campground and the view and the atmosphere were amazing. Waking up and watching the sunrise over the mountains was well worth the very reasonable price. Some freezing rain moved in on our second night and Jared was kind enough to let us move into the small cabin up the hill where we finished the rest of our stay. He was a great host and in spite of the weather my friends and our dog had a wonderful time. The town of Burnsville is only about ten minutes drive from Jared’s property and there are a number of small cafes and shops that are well worth a visit as well. Make sure to check out the Rescue Dog Cafe!

    Celeste2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great stay at his campsite! Woke up to amazing views. Very secluded and private for a good get away. Would highly recommend 4x4 to get up there though! Great place and great deal.

    Nick2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Jared was an amazing host. His property is absolutely pristine with the most beautiful views and stunning sunrise. Took my wife here for her first camping experience and she loved it. We will be back!

    James2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • This campsite is a much more private and scenic stay than at any of the local campgrounds. The site is on a secluded vista overlooking mountains and surrounding land. You do indeed need a 4x4 to get up the hill with your car, but you can certainly park at the bottom and walk-up also. There is a fire pit with benches and plenty of wood nearby. We will certainly be booking again for our next trip to hike around Mt. Mitchell!

    Amy2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Views were amazing and Jared is a great host. Definitely need the 4 wheel drive to get to the site but oh so worth it! We’ll be back and bringing friends next time!

Come relax in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains near Burnsville North Carolina. Situated on the edge of Pisgah National Forest with long range western mountain views and stunning sunsets. A well appointed studio apartment with a new queen sized bed and kitchenette with microwave/sink/mini fridge/coffee maker is ready for your home away from home.
The shared space includes a large north deck, filled with colorful flowers and herbs. 4 wrought iron chairs and a round table with umbrella provide a space for a casual tete a tete. There's a pair of wicker chairs on the west end of the deck that provide a place to enjoy the spectacular long range views or enjoy the pond with Japanese Koi and goldfish. It's a perfect spot for a sunset photo-op as you feed the Koi. (koi food provided.) There is also an upscale western facing porch perfect for an afternoon glass of wine or iced tea that has more of a living room feel with white sunbrella draperies with large black polkadot edges. A round Ralph Lauren table with a black marble top and four high back rocking chairs makes a perfect place to unwind after a day of sightseeing. A pair of black Ralph Lauren Oriental sconces provide a soft romantic light as you relax and enjoy the million dollar mountain views. These shared spaces are provided at no additional cost as I feel the spaces are too beautiful to not be shared with the Carriage House guests.
  • Lovely, quaint carriage house in a beautiful area. About a 30 min scenic drive into Asheville.

  • The home and property was absolutely beautiful. William was so thoughtful and had the room stocked in case you forgot anything. He left guides and trip suggestions in the room and left details for the room. Amazing trip, amazing details. Can’t wait to come back during the summer to check out the gardens. For anyone fighting with booking this house, please don’t hesitate. I promise you won’t be disappointed.

  • The carriage house is perfect for having quite time for yourself or dropping the bags and seeing the sights. Not really set up for heavy cooking but for deli or microwave type cooking, the restaurants are many in the nearby village. Burnsville and all the amazing nearby towns are filled with things to do and see. Downtime can be curled up in the cozy couch reading your book....the best of two worlds!

Quaint English cottage and courtyard, in the heart of historic Burnsville, in the mountains of North Carolina. Affordable luxury in a central location. Our county boasts Mt Mitchell, the highest peak east of the Mississippi, and the Blue Ridge Parkway! We are about an hours drive from the Appalachian Trail and the Great Smokies. And a 35 minute drive north of Asheville on a new four lane highway. Within minutes drive are numerous waterfalls, hikes, fly-fishing and rivers for swimming.
The space boasts professional interior decorating, historic charm, even an Alexa for automated lights, music, and movies. The cottage owners also founded Mountain Medical Arts next door, an integrative medical practice who can coordinate appointments for laser skin treatments, massage and energy healing modalities, right in the cottage if you prefer.
See our photos for some of our local favorites. We have all the beauty of the mountains without the busy tourist traffic and worn hiking trails of Asheville and the southern counties. On our border with Mitchell County is Penland School of Arts and gallery, which has brought many artists to the area: glass, ceramics, fabric, and more! The Bare Dark Sky Observatory in Yancey County hosts a custom-built telescope with a large 34-inch mirror, part of Mayland Earth to Sky Park, with a 360-degree viewing of the night sky. We have the wonderful Parkway Playhouse for live theater: 70 years running! We have a new wonderful public library and great playgrounds. Summer art and play camps for kids. Our local Quaker community hosts "Cabin Fever" events January through April with music jams, films, potluck dinners and more: just ask us! Our local farmers market runs April 22 through November and is just outside the Cottage door!
  • All around great experience in early March, it even snowed some for us. Went for a relaxing weekend in the mountains and that’s exactly what we got. Really enjoyed this cozy, historical, peaceful space with the warm fireplaces. The bathtub and complimentary spa soaps were a lovely touch! Kitchen space was very cool and functional for the small size. The area walking distance around the cottage was interesting, artistic, and what you want when you visit NC mountains. The Appalachian java house had the best cold brew coffee I’ve ever had and massive cookies. The Rescue Dog Cafe is a cool coffee and breakfast spot too. Would be a better/different experience in summer when more stores are open. Would have visited the old movie theatre if we had not already seen the movie. Lots of things to do in a 30 mi radius. Looking forward to another visit when they open the Sky Park at Mayland College later this year! Added bonus, the police station is across the street so safety was a low concern.

  • We adored our winter getaway to the cottage in Burnsville. The cottage was clean and comfortable (we loved the tub and the fireplace, and the soundbar) and the town was really charming. A quiet alternative to Ashville and Gatlinburg! Jeff and Kelly also helpfully provided recommendations for where to get a massage. Don't hesitate to book here.

Creekside cottage is ideally located between two creeks and just minutes from Roan Mountain State Park and 30 minutes from ski slopes.
Built in the 1940s, this cozy home is small but has all you need for the perfect getaway. The house is only minutes from the state park, rhododenderan gardens, hiking, fishing and more. In fact you can fish for trout in the creek behind the house. It's a short drive to Boone NC, ski slopes, and Bristol raceway.
The house is in the mountains where the weather is mild even during summer months. With the windows open you can hear the sounds of nature and tranquil running water.
  • Highly recommend!! This cottage is in a beautiful mountain “holler” and exceeded our expectations. It felt remote, yet only 10 minutes to town and easy to find. The place was clean, the bed was comfortable, and there was plenty of firewood and kindling for the charming wood burning stove. It was perfect for a cozy romantic trip and I just wish we could have stayed longer!

  • The house was small, cozy, and equipped with everything you could need during your stay! It was about 45 minutes to an hour away from a ton of great attractions and towns and there were a bunch of great hikes right down the road. My only small complaint was that the house always seemed to be cold except for the small bedroom that had the heater in it! Other than that we loved our stay and would definitely stay here again if we are back in the area!

    Madi2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage was so perfect! Even though it was freezing cold out, we loved walking around the creek and looking at animal tracks. We grilled out every night on the charcoal grill and sat around a bonfire. The wood stove kept it nice and warm inside. Like other reviews say, the local pizza place was good. The area has a ton of great hiking and wineries/breweries so it made for the perfect location for our getaway with friends.

  • Absolutely loved this cabin, felt so comfortable here, had everything we needed plus extra..... our host was very responsive. Cabin was spotless. We went fishing in the backyard! Would highly recommend this place and host!!

  • Wonderful little cottage in a beautiful spot. Host was very thorough and quick to respond to any questions or issues we had. 10/10!

  • Our stay was great! We came for a weekend of skiing at Beech Mountain, and this was the perfect set up. Simple and clean. Would recommend, and will stay again if in the area!

  • We had a really good vacation. Nice and clean house, such a amazing place my children loved the encounter with the nature. Definitely want to go back next family vacation Definitely recommend this place if you want to have some great times

    Allan2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is adorable! The area is so quaint and quiet. The only sound is the stream running behind the house. So peaceful! It was so clean and comfy! It snowed out last night there. We warmed up around the fireplace as the snow fell and the stream rushed by out back! An absolute peace that has been long overdue! We will be back when we return to that area!

  • Great spot for our quick family weekend getaway. Jeffrey was an awesome host. Very responsive yet gave us the space we wanted. Would do it again for sure.

  • We stayed in a cabin for 4 days and had an amazing time. The cabin is very unique and welcoming with great attention to details. You’ll find everything you need to prepare your own meals. Jeff provided tea, coffee, cocoa , wine, popcorn , ice cream and s’mores supplies which was a great addition to a pleasant stay. There are plenty of blankets and heaters which kept us warm and cozy. The fireplace is very big and helps to keep cabin warm throughout the night and day with plenty of firewood to keep the fire going. Everything is close by, like Walmart, restaurants, and attractions. You can take a walk outside to see sunset and beautiful sky full of stars. Jeff is an amazing host, very attentive and thoughtful. He made us feel like at home. Thank you so much for a wonderful experience that we had!!! Will definitely recommend friends and family to visit Ginny’s cabin.

    Olga2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • We were met with excellent hospitality from Jeffrey from the moment we arrived, and he provided many extras in the cabin such as wine and snacks. He was very helpful, and provided information on local things we could do. The cabin was extremely clean, and had many amenities to make our stay more comfortable.

  • Awesome little cabin for a weekend in the mountains! The cabin itself is super stylish with lots of amazing touches. We were very comfortable staying there over a mild December weekend with the fireplace to keep us cozy. There’s plenty of blankets for extra warmth too! We loved that Jeff left us s’mores supplies and hit chocolate!

    Taylor2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • From the very beginning of planning for this trip Jeff has been in contact with us making sure we knew how to find the place and things to do in the area! Check in was a breeze and Jeff had even started a fire for us before we got into the cabin. The cabin was breathtaking and has absolutely everything you need to enjoy the trip from cooking supplies to extra blankets and all the firewood you need. Jeff had some thoughtful touches too around the cabin that made the stay just that more amazing. He was always a text/phone call away if you needed him. Thank you Jeff for the outstanding hospitality and for one of the best trips my family has taken. We will be back real soon!

    Jacob2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Ginny’s cabin provided the perfect cozy mountain weekend escape we were seeking. Outside of an awesome hike to a nearby waterfall, we stayed in and drank wine while the fire was roasting. Jeff and his wonderful dog Ginny went above and beyond to make us feel right at home. Coleman (our dog) made a new best friend. Highly recommend staying here!

    Bryan2019-12-09T00:00:00Z
  • We visited Ginny’s cabin Dec 2-4. Jeff went above and beyond to make our stay a pleasurable experience. The weather was cold and windy, but that didn’t stop us from enjoying our visit. Jeff started a fire for us about an hour before we arrived so the cabin was warm and toasty. We had more than enough heat to keep us warm during our stay. Plenty of wood for the fire, a propane heater, electric heater, wall unit heater, and brand new electric blankets for each bed were provided. Blankets were extra soft and comfy. Cozy throws to curl up on the couch and enjoy the fire and glass of wine. So many thoughtful things were available for us. I loved all the adorable little touches throughout the cabin. Even the cute winter plates & mugs and Christmas decorations. We’re already planning a trip to visit again soon! Thank you

    Sabrina2019-12-04T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is awesome - authentically rustic with a modern kitchen and bathroom, beautifully decorated with loads of rustic cabin-y charm! The giant stone fireplace is gorgeous and accommodates a huge roaring fire that warms the entire cabin. Jeff provided several really nice touches -wine, s'more makings, etc., and was extremely responsive without being intrusive. He even built a fire for us when we arrived!

Our daughter used to say during visits to our cottage, "This is better than Disney!" Right on the banks of Roaring Creek, our cottage is a true escape from our cluttered, busy world. As the listing name says, it’s an "Authentic Mountain Getaway." The natural beauty of the property and surrounding area are the draw. It is not convenient to shopping and/or artificial entertainment, but if you value serenity, solitude, and the entertainment provided by the environment itself, you'll find it here.
Secluded home A true getaway Comfortably sleeps 6 Fully furnished
Friendly neighborhood. Very little traffic with lots of privacy. Peaceful and very quiet.
  • The scenery is amazing and so breathtaking. The home is full of charm and rich history. Such a great value! Check in was a breeze and we had everything we needed. Truly an incredible mountain getaway!

  • We hope to come back again as soon as possible! Loved sitting by the campfire, listening to the sound of Roaring Creek. Cozy house with everything we needed for a long weekend away from home. Clean house, beautiful location, helpful host... what more could you ask for?

  • We were charmed by staying in Chris’s childhood home. The family history is heartwarming, and we felt transported to a simpler time while being there. The property is beautiful, and the roaring creek is a unique feature that I found quite calming. It’s a blessing that Chris is willing to share of his home.

Enjoy the beauty and peacefulness of the Blue Ridge Mountains from this homey cottage on the Blue Ridge Parkway (mile marker 334). At a cool elevation of 3,500 feet there is always a lovely cool breeze. Private in every way. Fine dining and bar within walking distance.
This space has the feel of a 1940's cottage in the woods. Refrigerator, kitchenette, electric fireplace. High in the tree tops, it feels like a tree house with plenty of privacy. The cottage is about 20 ft. above the ground. The living room, kitchen and bedroom are all together in one room. Approximately 350 square feet total. There is a drape that can be pulled to separate bedroom from the living room. Great place for a writer or artist to gain inspiration. Also, great for motorcycle couple because of carport to keep bikes out of the weather. We provide you with coffee and tea to start your day and a bowl of fresh fruit for a light breakfast. After the middle of April——there is within walking distance —fine dining and bar with live entertainment at the Chalet restaurant. There is shopping at the gift shops of the Switzerland Inn. Close to Mount Mitchell, Grandfather Mountain and Lake Lure. Fabulous hiking, rafting and great outdoor activities nearby or just sit and read a good book. Gas firepit on the deck for enjoying a cool evening outdoors. Occasionally deer and bear come through the yard but you are safe high above the ground. We also have a beautiful waterfall within hiking distance. Golfing can be found at nearby Grassy Creek Golf Course (6 miles away) or you can be at magnificent Mount Mitchell Golf Course in a 20 minute drive. Note: This listing is not handicapped accessible. This is a turn-key operation. We will make sure all is to your liking when you arrive and then you are on your own. Our home is such that we are not aware of your comings or goings. So, we are in easy contact via phone or text to help with any needs. We live in our home on the opposite side of the garage. Our neighborhood is private and quiet. Our neighbors are respectful of others and enjoy chatting if passed on the road. There is no public transit here. Ammenities: electric fireplace in living room, kitchenette, refrigerator, coffee maker, stove, microwave, toaster oven, deck with gas fireplace, fine dining and bar within walking distance, shower in bathroom, you can choose between having two twin beds or king. There is Walmart shopping 4 miles away, small pets permitted (let us know in advance). In an effort to be totally transparent...the shower and the toilet area of the cottage are considerably small. Take a good look at the pictures of the bathroom and be sure it will work for you. If you are a large person it may not be comfortable for you. Text me if you need more information regarding this.

  • Staying at this cottage was a lovely and peaceful experience! It is within short walking distance to the town and has a great view of the woods and mountains in the distance. We loved how clean and thoughtfully decorated every room was and especially enjoyed the electronic fireplace! Bob was so friendly and took the time to communicate any details or help if needed. We will definitely stay here again next time we are in the area.

  • Cozy, comfortable and clean! So happy that were able to stay here! A great overnight while traveling the Blue Ridge Parkway. Thanks for your hospitality!

  • There's something special about staying in a cabin in the woods. There's something even more special about staying in a cabin in the woods that doesn't have a TV. Bob's place was an incredibly quaint (but comfortable!) cottage that just felt like home. Although it was freezing outside, the faux-fire place & space heaters made it feel even cozier. We enjoyed the stars & the quiet at night and the beautiful light & complimentary fruits and tea in the morning. I would absolutely recommend this Airbnb for those looking for a romantic getaway or just some peace & quiet!

    Lauren2019-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • This tiny gem is the perfect getaway. We loved the location perched at the top of the mountain and hidden away down a beautiful little road. The apartment is cozy and feels like home. Bob added such warm touches like a warm fireplace on for our arrival, candles burning and a bucket of ice waiting for us. This is the perfect spot to unwind for awhile. We only wish we could have stayed longer. We would return in a heartbeat. Thank you!

    Stacy2019-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was perfect. Unique setting, host communicated well, wonderfully appointed, clean, cozy.

    Greg2019-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I had a wonderful time at Bob's cottage in Little Switzerland. He was very accomidating and had great recommendations on local things to try. The location is beautiful and is some very steep and winding roads. I would advise against using a hybrid as we did, just as there wasn't enough power to get up some of the steeper hills reasonably. Next time we'll use the SUV.

    Megan2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Perfectly quaint cottage! Great for a getaway!

    Ashley2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at the cottage in Little Switzerland. The place is sparkling clean and so cozy. There is a great restaurant and pub in walking distance with an amazing view! Perfect stop on our trip up the Blue Ridge Parkway.
