Wake up in the morning to the soft light through the sliding doors, and end the day quietly at night while watching the shadows fall on the garden. The time here is memorable not only for what you see, but also for the temperature of the air, the feel of the soles of your feet, and the quietness of the sounds. It's nice to talk to someone, or to spend time alone. I hope this place is a place where you can take a little distance from your daily life and check your own outline. The name "Ootan" we wanted to create an inn where you can encounter landscapes, air, people, words, and stories you have never encountered before. A little story will surely be born in this space where you spend your time.

The private rental accommodation "Takasegawa Shichijo" is a fully renovated 115-year-old Machiya Townhouse. The Machiya Townhouse, which forms part of the beautiful scenery of Kyoto, has been remodeled into a building with high airtightness and thermal insulation performance while retaining its original structure, so that you can have a comfortable stay even in the humid and hot summers and harshly cold winters that are unique to Kyoto. From the Japanese-style room on the first floor, you can see the tsubo garden, which is designed in the image of a "roji" (*a garden leading to a tea room). In addition, we have provided a sofa in the hallway so that you can relax and enjoy the view of the tsubo garden. In the evening, you can spend a relaxing time while looking at the illuminated tsubo garden. There are 2 bedrooms on the 2nd floor: a Japanese-style room with 2 single beds and a Western-style room with 2 single beds. If there are 5 or more guests staying, we will lay futons in the Japanese-style room on the first floor and use it as a bedroom, though it is a bit of a hassle. The kitchen is equipped with cooking utensils and dishes for simple cooking.

This traditional townhouse (machiya) has been entirely refurbished in order to comfortably accommodate a family with 2 bedrooms upstairs and 2 bathrooms on each floor. The kitchen is well equipped so you can prepare foods. The neighborhood is located between the main river of Kyoto, and a canal, it is quiet yet in the city center. The wooden structure, partial wall, entryway, and the garden stones are some of the original elements that are conserved while the roofing tiles, wooden windows, and paper doors have since been replaced.
