Many cycling and hiking routes run through Valthe that give access to a widespread network through Drenthe and surrounding provinces. 1 child up to 4 years old can stay in the parents' room. On request, a crib/child's bed can be placed.

The fortified town of Bourtange is of course also worth a visit. Stadskanaal has restaurants, supermarkets, etc.

The apartment is listed for two people, but the couch in the living room can be pulled out, so one or two more children can easily stay as well!
