Completely self-contained self-catering accommodation in a quiet peaceful location. Very suitable for distancing yourself away from the worries of the modern life. Birds Nest Cabin is a comfortable budget accommodation. It is quite basic inside but it has all modern amenities: TV, WiFi, kitchen with microwave, cooker, kettle, toaster, fridge, crockery, utensils. It is has well established garden and outdoor terrace with beautiful views. There is a fire pit, outdoor sitting and parking.
You will stay in a 2 bedroom cabin in a rural location on Cheshire/Staffs border. Cabin is in a peaceful position tucked away on the side of a hill with views over green pastures and Congleton Edge. The location is very peaceful and quiet, lots of wildlife. Birds Nest has 2 bedrooms - a double and a twin. It has a small bathroom with a shower, a WC, fully equipped kitchen (gas cooker, fridge freezer, microwave, kettle, toaster, kitchen utensils, crockery), TV. There are extra duvets for each bed. There is no central heating and hot water is limited. You can wash dishes, brush teeth and wash hands etc but although, there is a shower - hot water doesn’t last long in it! this is because hot water is provided by a consecutive water heater, it means that once the heated amount of 25l is used it needs 10-15 min to heat up the next batch. We have a shower block a short walk (1-2 min of very slow walking :) away from Birds Nest, which guests are welcome to use. Birds Nest comes with outside terrace with table and chairs, cast iron fire pit, beautiful mature garden and outdoor space.
Peaceful rural location. Local golf course neighbours the farm. Local amenities are 2 miles away in Congleton, a thriving market town. Traditional English pub, serving food is 600 yards away. Many historical attractions, country walks and trails nearby. Within walking distance are Macclesfield canal, presently used for narrow boats and the Cloud, the main local landmark, - a high outcrop of rocks overlooking the Cheshire Plain, which can be conquered at a leisurely pace in 40 minutes. Also, close by are several country houses to visit, incl.Biddulph Grange (National Trust – 2 miles), Little Moreton Hall (National Trust 3 miles), Gawsworth Hall and Capesthorne Hall (both privately owned Grand Country Houses - 6 miles) and the Tatton Park (NT) is a 30 minute drive. Another famous landmark, well worth visiting, is Jodrell Bank Observatory (8 miles). The Peak District National Park is 8 miles away. The town of Leek for antiques hunting and the Rudyard Lake for boating, fishing, steam railway are both 6 miles. Excellent fishing lakes nearby.

Hurst Cottage
Find Hurst Cottage on the corner of a leafy green country road, in the village of Biddulph in Staffordshire, boasting large gardens and bursting with character inside and out, you will have an amazing time getting to know this lovely area. The property lends itself well to families and couples because of the open space and many nooks and crannies to explore, with the small river running through part of the garden making it truly unique.Park up the car and head down the stone steps, to the main door, and make your way into the lovely kitchen which is home to pretty pale blue cabinets and a wood counter tops, giving the room a classic cottage feel.A woodburning stove sits in the middle of the exposed red brick wall, and is accessible from the other side in the dining area, alongside a large grey stone feature wall where the original fireplace would have been years ago. This dining area has large windows with views out to the river down below, and with the windows open on a summer day, you can listen to the sound of the water flowing, while the birds sing in the trees.More incredible stonework features on the walls of the sitting room, containing sofas and chairs for you to make yourself comfy in, and why not have a chilled film night using the widescreen TV for those quiet evenings in.Upstairs there is a modern bathroom suite and next door is the master bedroom, adorned with solid wood furniture and a TV, while the second bedroom is twin.To the outside where you’ll hopefully be able to spend a lot of time (if the weather behaves!) you’ll find a bubbling hot tub, set into the decking looking over the rest of the beautiful garden, which stretches on for what seems like forever!Take a minute to discover this fairytale-esque garden; cross the little bridge over the river, run in between the shrubbery. The local area offers some great day out opportunities, like visiting Biddulph Grange, a National Trust owned house and landscaped gardens, with the gardens divided into many areas based on their influences around the world, or take a walk up to Mow Cop Castle, a hilltop stone tower, set on the ridge that forms the boundary between the counties Cheshire and Staffordshire.Day trips over to Chester, Liverpool or Manchester could be on the cards being all within an hour and a half drive away, so if you're not often in this area of the UK, head over to one of these bustling cities that all have so much to offer.Enjoy your holiday in a property full of character and interesting features like Hurst Cottage, and you will make beautiful memories.
  • Two friends and I stayed at Hurst Cottage for the weekend. It was in a lovely peaceful setting and a very cosy cottage with personal touches. Would love to come back!

  • The cottage is stunning, set in a peaceful location with beautiful surroundings. This is the second time I have stayed and I am coming back another two times this year! The water wheel was turning this time and we whiled away the hours in the hot tub surrounded by bird song and the running river next to us. Absolute heaven. Really comfortable with all amenities. Love it.

    Esther2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • It's absolutely beautiful.... The cottage, the garden, the location! A river runs through the bottom of the garden and just sat listening to the water and watching the waterfall and water wheel was wonderful. It's a short walk to a decent pub (Talbot) and close to the country park. Cottage was so warm, cosy and welcoming and the hot tub just perfect. We highly recommend Hurst Cottage!

Owls Loft is a self contained holiday cottage with a private outdoor seating area and paddock. In a tranquil, rural setting, with views of the Cheshire Plain, this is a great place to recharge your batteries. It is well located to visit the Peak District, or get the train into Manchester from Macclesfield or Congleton. There are a number of National Trust properties within easy reach, as well as Alton Towers, Chatsworth House, the antique shops of Leek and the pottery towns of Stoke on Trent.
Owls Loft has a cosy cottage feel, but is spacious and comfortable. The kitchen and shower room are located on the ground floor and upstairs is a sitting room, with log burner, and a double bedroom. Outside there is a private patio seating area and you have exclusive access to a small paddock.
Owls Loft is on the edge of Biddulph Moor, a village in the Staffordshire countryside. We have 2 pubs, 2 shops and a school and we are just a few miles from Congleton or Leek, and any amenities you may need are available in Biddulph, just down the hill. This is a lovely area for walking, and we are just up the road from Biddulph Grange Gardens and country park.
  • Lovely little place. Perfect for dog owners. Thoughtful touches, dog towels and blankets and little paddock for the dog to run in. Very clean and stylish. Very comfortable. Five stars!

  • If you are looking and thinking is this place as good as it seems ...then the answer is YES and more. Just book it and make sure you are ready to relax and just take it the fresh air and unwind for a few days. My only advice to anyone is to book at least three days and of course visit the local National Trust locations nearby ( 2 within 15 minute drive ).

    Terry2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Sue's place was exactly as described in the other reviews, cosy, clean and homely. We stayed for three nights and could have stayed for more, the layout was a clever use of space which made it the perfect size. Owl's loft was equipped with everything we could have possibly needed, which was great especially as we love cooking when we're away. If you are looking for a walk definitely visit Lud's Church, about a half an hour drive away, Biddulph Grange Garden National Trust is also a must see. One thing I would say is if you were looking to visit a pub for the evening you'd probably have to get a cab as the property is down a lane that wouldn't be ideal to walk down. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to stay, great location and very homely.

    Charlotte2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • It’s so clean and a lovely cottage well designed for the needs of a couple or four people was so lovely being able take out dog and such lovely furniture and the scenery was breath taking.

  • Great stay this week at Susan’s place. Spotless, lovely touches and perfect for a cosy break away

  • Owls Loft is a real gem in the lovely English countryside. After long days out exploring in the Peak District, it was great to come back to the cosy cottage that is Owls Loft. The cosy fireplace was a real treat & the kitchen was well stocked. A great idea to have ‘just in case’ box in the bathroom too.

  • We had an absolutely lovely stay at Samantha’s cottage. Had everything we needed, incredible views and greats walks right on your doorstep. Sam was a brilliant host, very quick to reply and on hand for anything we needed.

  • Excellent location, amazing views! Love the local residents (the sheep)

    Edward2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cosy cottage which is actually nicer than the pictures. The place was clean and comfortable. Waking up to the view of the countryside is amazing. Well located for walks in the surrounding Peak District. Samantha and her husband were very helpful.

    Omar2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • The Barn was the perfect base for exploring the beautiful surroundings on our walking holiday. Very peaceful and quiet location. The property was impeccably clean had everything we needed. The bathroom is excellent, particularly the shower. Central heating works brilliantly - a very responsive thermostat made sure it was always cosy but not too hot. The owners were very attentive (lovely text on the first morning to check in with us) but also very respectful of our privacy. Would definitely recommend this fantastic Airbnb

  • Amazing host and a lovely cottage in a great location

    Nathan2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • The barn was just as lovely as the pictures. The area is extremely peaceful with beautiful walks on the doorstep. It's an idyllic spot if you're looking for somewhere cosy and quiet to get away. We had a wonderful stay and would really recommend Sam as a host. The place was spotless and her communication was spot on.

    Hannah2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place to stay. Very grateful for the exceedingly clean well presented accomodation

    Peter2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Barn was lovely - all spotlessly clean with excellent facilities, in a lovely location. Directions were excellent and Samantha kept in touch throughout. You'll also meet the friendliest chicken in the world! The steep drive would be a bit treacherous in bad weather, so be aware if you don't have a 4x4 and wintery weather is forecast!

  • A truly luxurious retreat in beautiful countryside. David and Ann went out of their way to ensure my husband and I were comfortable. Amazingly comfortable bed with high quality bedding and pillows. A 5* experience!

    Fiona2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • This converted stables is now a snug, stylish and comfortable place to spend a few days or longer. The owners have converted a stables into a beautiful space, with a living area and large kitchen . The bedroom is very comfortable, with lovely new thick carpets and very smart shower room. The whole space was wonderfully warm on a cold weekend thanks to the underfloor heating. It’s set in a very small village, we did not see any shops, in beautiful countryside roughly halfway between Congleton and Macclesfield. We will definitely be returning.

Blaze Farm is a working hill farm with Swallows Nest being a converted hay loft! Our luxury studio has a King size bed, kitchenette - topped off with granite - and an en suite shower room. Did we mention the underfloor heating throughout..??!! All bedding and towels are of course provided. Its a perfect hideaway for couples and an ideal base from which to explore an abundance of rock climbing and great walking routes including The Roaches, The Cloud and Shutlingsloe to name but a few.
If you don't fancy dining out, the kitchenette at Swallows Nest has everything you'll need: a fridge, microwave, kettle, toaster and oven. Why not walk to the local pub or visit one of the local towns to eat: the spa town of Buxton is close by and the popular market towns of Bakewell and Ashbourne are both within 30 minutes drive away. Not to mention Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and Tissington Hall..!
  • Gorgeous location, a bit in the middle of nowhere but perfect if you want to switch off. Plenty of walking and local pubs. Farm has its own tea room so perfect if you’ve been out all day. Hosts were amazing, lots of thoughtful touches in the room and the space is lovely. Not too far to towns like Buxton and about 30 minutes to Bakewell etc so brilliant for exploring the peaks. No internet (although this was in the process of being sorted) so make sure you have a map and know where you’re going beforehand!

  • Beth was very accommodating to my constantly evolving plans and helped me with an earlier check in that I had originally planned. The room was a nice size and a spacious double bed was comfortable. The bathroom was nice and the shower was okay. Beth was hospitable allowing guests to use wifi and the kitchen like it was your own home, as long as you kept the common spaces clean (which is standard etiquette around someone else's house) she was happy. Beth was happy to lend her bike and maps to guests if you wanted to tour the local area and was happy to give advice about where to go and what to see locally. I had a very limited experience with the host (I was out/busy when she was in and vice versa) but she seemed like a lovely lady and outgoing. Thanks for everything Beth.

    Craig2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Beth (and Emma the cat) were both very welcoming, the room is exactly as described, I had a great nights rest. Beth was very understanding of travel arrangements and very accommodating! I'll be sure to stay in I'm ever in the area again.

  • We had an absolutely wonderful time at Beth's. The house is spacious, clean and comfortable with a lovely garden that I wish we could have had more time to spend in! Possibly the most comfortable bed I've slept in beside my own as well :D Would highly recommend her place to anyone visiting Congleton.

  • The communication with Beth was amazing from as soon as we booked our trip, she was very helpful and made sure we felt right at home. The house is super cosy, clean with great amenities and a friendly cat! Thanks for being super hosts, Beth and Jim! : - D

Welcome to the all new Pamper Van, Ruby! This brand new mobile home is a luxurious rural retreat. The stunning secluded location will make you feel a million miles from anywhere, but there is plenty to do in the local area. Complete with hot tub Ruby offers a bespoke break for up to 4 people. Choose from a holiday for a girly break with pamper treatments or a romantic escape for two. Whatever you do, your woodland surroundings will work their quiet magic on you.
Whether you are in need of some much needed rest and relaxation, looking for some peace and quiet, or just want to escape into the country to explore Staffordshire’s surrounding attractions, The Pamper Van can accommodate your every need.
Located approximately 4 miles away from Fairboroughs Farm, Leek market town is a haven for lovers of antiques and factory shops and also has a weekly outdoor market selling an array of goods. The beautiful spa town of Buxton is a ‘must visit’ for any visitors to the area. Buxton lies just outside the National Park boundaries, but is the most important town for most of the western and central Peak. The site has been occupied since at least Roman times. The Romans were attracted by the warm springs and built baths here and for the following centuries the springs have been a major source of income and importance for Buxton. We are located in the Staffordshire Moorlands on the edge of The Peak District. A perfect base for sight seeing what the area has to offer. Alton Towers is approximately 20 minutes away.
  • Great getaway! Pamper Pad and location was fantastic. Little touches made our stay that much better. Highly recommended!

The location is brilliant, just a stone's throw from Leek, and the van sits on a lovely farm complete with farm animals and lovely dogs! The van was pristine, well laid out, and well kitted out with all that we needed and more. The added extras like specialty teas and scones made our stay even more enjoyable. We will be staying here again in the future and we would highly reccomend to anyone looking for a getaway! Top value 😁 Also, our massage with Helen was fantastic and I would recommend this too!

There is a well established microbrewery and a fishery in the village which are both open to the public if you fancy having a pint and catching a trout for your dinner. As well as being a walkers paradise, this area has an abundance of National Trust properties to explore and Chatsworth House only 45 minutes away. Despite the rural splendour, this part of the Peak District National Park is within comfortable driving distance of Leek and other centres such as Macclesfield, Buxton and Congleton which offer a varied range of facilities and exploring opportunities. This is a truly beautiful place for individuals or couples. Come to walk, relax, unwind or use the cottage as a base to explore. This is a lovely romantic setting , fabulous for a birthday or an anniversary surprise for someone special. Please make sure you read the "other things to note section" before you book particularly if you have mobility problems.
Wincle is a pretty village set amongst rolling hills in the South West Peak District. It is popular with visitors because of the beautiful walks, excellent pubs and friendly microbrewery.
  • We had a lovely weekend staying at Dane Cottage. The cottage itself is beautiful and very cosy. We especially enjoyed the log burner. Bath was also a big bonus. Both me and my partner appreciated all the little touches Alison had done to make our stay as pleasant as possible. Love the fact that we could walk from the cottage and we followed the route to Lud’s church which was recommended by Alison. The Ship Inn being only 2 minutes away was also a big advantage. Would definitely stay at the cottage again. Thank you so much Alison ☺️

    Grace2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Dane Cottage is perfectly located to enjoy good walking on the doorstep, watch the world (and the birds) go by from the kitchen window, and fantastic food and drinks from the Ship Inn up the road! The cottage has been thoughtfully designed, laid out and equipped emeritus everything you could possibly need. We were very impressed with the use of space and felt it was perfectly suited to our needs. Thanks again Alison, we’d love to come back again sometime!

  • Hidden treasure in a beautyful small valley with a wild river, perfect for romantic walking tours, a taste of wincle brewery and a tasty dinner at the Ship Inn Pub. A perfect combination for a romantic stay.

So with plenty to see and do you are going to need longer than a weekend visiting Hazel Barrow Farm!
  • The barn is located in a fairly secluded area with some great walks nearby. The bunk barn is aimed mainly at walkers and climbers and is fairly basically decorated although it had pretty much everything one would need. There was a small kitchen with a twin ring hob, a kettle, pots and pans, cuttlery and even a fridge. It is only fair that people are expected to clear up after themselves. Toilet facilities are situated in the shower block at the other end of the barn. I was also thankful that the water was lovely and warm! Jane was a good host and gave me some ideas for nearby walks and lent me an OS map. I enjoyed a very long walk off road, even though I got totally soaked through, but it was well worth it. As it was November, I was glad of the small, low powered heater which could keep the room at a comfortable temperature and also dry my clothes. Although I was only able to spare two nights at this lovely location, it was so nice to get away from town life and I really enjoyed my stay here. Thank's Jane!

    Dan2019-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful host in everyway! The kids loved it and Jane went out of her way to see the children and I had an amazing time. The location is also beautiful and the barn was just right for us. Highly recommend booking with Jane anytime. Thank you Jane hope to see you again xx

    Sybilla2019-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • The view is absolutely stunning and it's so peaceful and quite! There are hot showers and a small kitchen is available with pots and pans, a water boiler and tea and coffee. We hope to be back the next time we visit the Peaks.

    Micha2019-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • The bunk barn was comfortable, great value for money and had plenty of space for our family of four. We liked having a kettle, hob and fridge to make breakfasts. Absolutely stunning location, the pictures don't do it justice - we were blown away on arrival and enjoyed watching a beautiful sunset over the nearby valley. The toilet/shower facilities are basic, shared with the campsite, and require a short walk outside from the bunk barn but were very clean and the shower was lovely and warm! Jane was extremely welcoming and helpful. We will definitely be back!

    Sarah2019-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • It is a nice little barn converted that is very cozy. You get a small kitchenette to make tea and coffee and a small induction cooker. One good thing is that there is no mobile signal at the barn, you can get some good family time together. You have to walk about 100 mts get a signal.

    Edsel2018-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed in the bunkhouse for a few nights. Jane is really friendly and shared loads of knowledge of nice walks and cycle rides in the area! Its a beautiful place with easy access to the Roaches. The showers are clean and hot and cooking and water facilities were great too. So nice to sit in the garden in the evenings and watch the mist over the top of the big hills! Would absolutely reccomend Hazel Barrow as a place to stay! Thank you!

    Matilda2018-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • Very affordable, extremely clean accommodation in a very beautiful and peaceful location. Would not hesitate to book again.

  • The camping barn is in a beautiful location . It was great to get away from it all and enjoy the stunning scenery. The beds were comfortable and you can do simple cooking on the hob, shower nice and hot , this is shared with the other campers but this was fine for us . This place is great for walkers , climbers , cyclists or just for driving around the peaks exploring the many amazing places to visit. Great time had by all thank you .

Shepherd's Crook is a delightful heated shepherd's hut in a private rural landscape, on it's own and within it's own stone circle that is not overlooked and has the most wonderful views over the Dane Valley. Towels provided. Outside is a summerhouse with heater, comfortable chairs. Outside a BBQ/fire pit and a large private grassed area. Wincle is a most beautiful village in the Peak District with lots of walks, eating places and things to do. Our Shepherd's Hut is private, not overlooked and has the most wonderful views over the Dane Valley. The hut has been fitted out to a high specification and there is a large private area outside.
A shepherd's hut in a wonderful part of the Peak District.Fantastic views of the Roaches and the Dane Valley. Private and not overlooked.Sleeps two. It is a short walk to Wincle micro-brewery. Accessibility to all of the Peak District, to Chester, Manchester and the Potteries and Manchester airport is all within 1 hour drive.
  • My partner & I booked to stay at the Shepard’s Hut for a little getaway from our busy lives & a rough past few months & wow it has done the job! Much, much more than we expected. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the lovely Ian with complimentary wine, fruit cake & fresh eggs which were all lovely! There was even a fresh rose in a vase. The decor & attention to detail was superb, with no faults what so ever. There really has been a lot of thought put in to this place. We both felt so cosy & at home (would even go as far as saying it felt more homely than our home!). Even in the middle of winter, it was lovely & warm. There’s a summer house which is even suitable for winter with a heater & blankets in which is perfect to sit in & enjoy the views with a cup of tea & breakfast in the morning. We were seen off by Angela who is one of the nicest ladies we have come across & made us feel so welcome there. We didn’t want to come home today but we will 100% be booking again in the future. Hopefully in the summer time. Absolutely recommend any couple looking for a relaxed little getaway to book here. Money well spent.

    Alexandra2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • This little house is absolutely perfect. We arrived to fresh butter and eggs and an amazing fruit loaf set out for us in a perfectly appointed space. It is finished beautifully and has absolutely everything you could possibly need and more - from pristine pots and pans to a comfortable bed to binoculars to look out at the incredible view. The outdoor seating, BBQ and summer house were the icing on the cake - we had fresh trout from a nearby fishery (walkable!) and cooked them outdoors on the BBQ. We also had a really lovely time exploring around the house on the public footpaths. To complete the experience our hosts Angela and Ian were absolutely lovely, so kind and so helpful with tips on local eateries. This has been one of my favourite Airbnb stays to date (and there have been a lot!). I could not recommend it more!

Middle Barn is a newly converted barn and has many original features as well as modern comforts including underfloor heating downstairs, excellent WiFi, and finished to a high standard. Situated on a working farm on parkland which has 3/4 mile frontage to Rudyard Lake as well as having the Staffordshire Way footpath running through makes this a great base for both fishing and exploring the beautiful surrounding countryside.
Middle Barn is a conversion of a late nineteenth century farm building. It has all the charm of an old barn with original openings and stunning views over the Peak District and the village below. The farmland - a former Victorian golf course - runs down to the edge of beautiful Rudyard Lake with boating and fishing available.
The farm is nestled in parkland with 3/4 mile frontage of Rudyard Lake, a huge tourist draw in the Victorian era, and where Rudyard Kipling's parents spent their honeymoon. Further afield, the town of Leek and the neighbouring surrounds of the Staffordshire Moorlands present a wealth of family-friendly locally run businesses providing great produce and offering outdoor adventure. Within five miles of the farm you can experience rock climbing at the Roaches, a stunning escarpment which marks the end of the Pennine Way; Tittesworth Reservoir with kayaking and paddle boarding and a brilliant childrens' playground and cafe; mountain biking and motorbike scrambling. There are dozens of stunning walks, local markets and great pubs selling good food made from local produce. Our nearest town, Leek, affectionately called 'The Queen of the Moorlands' is a friendly Totally Locally market town. There are markets on all through the week and lots of local home-grown produce available. As a Totally Locally town, it supports local small businesses so you will find lots of independent cafes, bars, health shops, antique shops and the like. Further afield are the beautiful towns of Ashbourne, Bakewell and Buxton and the adventure of Alton Towers is only 17 miles away.
  • This place is really the most beautiful place I have ever been to in England. Also Julian is an amazing guy who is doing everything for you to make it a great stay. I'm so grateful to Julian for this beautiful location. It's so peaceful, the nature is beautiful, the bed is really cozy and the showers 😍😍! Wow! I'll advise this place to everybody who loves nature and also loves to walk. I'm an entrepreneur myself and was in need of a great place with fast internet. And I can tell you...the internet is really fast! So yes, thank you once again, Julian, for this amazing stay! Highly recommended to everybody!

  • Perfect stay - relaxing location and spotless accommodation . Secure garden for dog which we didn’t use really due to the weather (but would be lovely to sit out in better weather) with gorgeous views of the countryside . Ate at the Lazy Trout one day on Julians recommendation - definitely worth a visit . It was so impressive we booked again for Sunday lunch which again was fabulous . Lots of lovely walks in the area - we particularly enjoyed Biddulph park and Lyme House NT with the dog . All in all a lovely and relaxing week away . Thank you :-)

  • Lovely stay at middle barn. Spacious accommodation, garden was a big bonus. Comfortable beds and well equipped kitchen. Clean and modern decoration throughout. Beautiful scenery, the view from the garden was picturesque. Perfect for a New Years break for us and our dog :)

    Danielle2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • The barn was even better than we expected - it was cozy and stylish and more than enough room for our family at Christmas. Julian was a great host and was communicative and helpful - we spent Christmas there and he made it very comfortable for us to spend the festive period there. The location is in the heart of the countryside but close enough to amenities so you don’t feel cut off. I would recommend it to friends and family for a wonderful break in the Peak District.

    Megan2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • We have just returned from a week at Middle Barn and only have great things to say about our trip. Julian's barn is beautifully decorated and was stocked with everything we needed for a few days away. We were travelling with our newborn baby and what could have been a stressful holiday was made really easy by having such a lovely place to stay. We would definitely recommend Middle Barn to anyone looking to stay in the area!

  • Yew Tree farm cottage is beautifully appointed with a modern kitchen and entertainment facilities. It is love and warm and very cozy at night time. It is in a beautiful remote location surrounded by farmland and it's resident animals. The only noises are the sounds of the farm beasts (including the cockerel in the mornings!), the chiming of the church clock and the occasional rumble of a train over the distant railway viaduct. We found it a beautiful, tranquil spot. It has a large garden with a fabulous view of the Derbyshire Hills in the distance. North Rode is quite remote and a car is necessary for access. If you intend to explore the locale on foot we recommend a good pair of gum boots!

  • We had a great 2 night stay at Queens court as we visited Alton Towers. It's a quirky place with some unique features such as the games room in the bridge. We were made to feel welcome with some nice gifts. We didn't really use the place to its full potential as we wanted to maximise time at Alton Towers but we can see it being comfortable for longer periods. Nice location for town centre, Lidl, Wetherspoons and of course Alton Towers.

Leek itself is a beautiful town and the accommodation was in a great location to explore the town and a short drive to Alton Towers. The place was clean, tidy, warm and spacious. The kids loved the games room with a great range of games to keep them entertained. Check in was easy and host gave all the information required. • Spacious house over three floors with a fully functioning kitchen. It was just the two of us but easily big enough for a family. Great central location, but nice and quiet too.

Looking to retreat from the world? Then this is your space - a beautiful Shepherd hut in a tranquil haven, set a mile down a private drive; offering stunning views across the Peak District. Crafted by an artisan, this individually designed shepherd hut offers a truly relaxing and luxurious space with full modern amenity. An ensuite shower room, fully equipped kitchen, log burner and food parcels if required means everything is on hand leaving you to do as little or as much as your heart desires.
The shepherd hut is accessed via 3 oak steps to the raised platform and the outdoor dining area, you enter the hut via fully glazed double French doors. Inside, to the left of the doors is the dining and seating area which can comfortably seat up to 4. Collapse the table at night and pull down the king size wall bed to discover your sleeping area and another window to your new world. The fully equipped kitchen with gas oven, hob and small fridge enables you to do as much or as little cooking as you please; whilst the log burner with its plentiful supply of logs for your stay, ensures that you remain snug and toasty all year round. Of great importance is the charming ensuite. With full size power shower, heated towel rail and of course a toilet it is difficult to believe that this level of amenity is also contained inside the Shepherd hut.
Wincle is a thriving community, with a population density of just 0.008 per hectare versus a 2.5 in average across the rest of the UK. The landscape is characterised mainly by farming activity with a number of other small businesses attracting locals and tourists alike. With a brewery, fishing lake and 2 dining pubs in the vicinity there is plenty to experience in the immediate area. Travel to the adjacent villages and there is an Ice Cream Farm, large wedding venue, outdoor pursuits and organised water sports available. The nearby towns of Buxton, Leek, Macclesfield and Congleton offer a diverse base of amenity - from a renowned theatre through to antique shopping. Looking further afield you have the cities of Manchester and Sheffield within an hours drive; with Liverpool, Leeds, Nottingham and Birmingham around one and a half hours.
  • We have just come back from a relaxing weekend in Emma’s Shepherd’s hut set in a beautiful location. The hut was immaculately clean, the bed was super comfy and the log burner was perfect at keeping us warm and cosy! We also had a lovely meal at the local pub just a 20 minute walk away which Emma kindly booked for us. Thank you for having us Emma, we loved it!

    Alex2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely hut in a beautiful area of the Peak District. Emma is a helpful and thoughtful host. Absolutely recommend and hoping to revisit!

  • I stayed here for the weekend with my fiancé for his birthday. We absolutely LOVED it. The shepherds hut is so cute, but also so clean and beautiful. The surroundings are so peaceful, and the added chairs and tables are a lovely added touch. The log burner is a stunning feature, especially during the winter nights! If you want a peaceful, off grid weekend away, and an opportunity to switch off, I completely recommend this place! I can definitely see us returning ☺️

    Siobhan2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • This is SUCH a cosy shepherds hut! The log burner is awesome and makes the space super toasty in no time at all. We were very impressed by the space and everything was of a high spec. Loved the big cosy bed and hot shower (just what you need after a day exploring the beautiful Peaks!)

    Grace2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • The perfect place to get away from it all for a few days. The hut has everything you need, including a well equipped kitchen, a lovely bathroom with a heated towel rail, a gorgeous wood burner that made the hut very snug and the comfiest bed we've ever slept in. It even had champagne glasses so we could ring in the New Year. Emma gave us really great directions for getting there, and also a list of supermarkets in Macclesfield so we could stock up on supplies before arriving. We felt really welcome and can't wait to come back again.

    Louis+Aimee2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay in the Hut. It was spotlessly clean, and finished to a very high standard. It was cozy and warm with the wood burning stove and we easily managed to cook in the well equipped kitchen. Location was perfect with tonnes of beautiful walking trails and a brewery and pub near by.

    Stephen2019-12-09T00:00:00Z
  • The shepherds hut is so lovely and cosy, perfect for a romantic getaway. Emma has been so helpful while organising the trip. The hut is cleverly designed and the log burner kept us warm. Perfect for an autumnal weekend.

Three Nooks is a newly converted barn and has many original features as well as modern comforts including underfloor heating downstairs and excellent WiFi and finished to a high standard. Situated on a working farm on parkland which has 3/4 mile frontage to Rudyard Lake as well as having the Staffordshire Way footpath running through makes this a great base for both fishing and exploring the beautiful surrounding countryside.
Three Nooks is a conversion of a late nineteenth century farm building. It has all the charm of an old barn with original openings and stunning views over the Peak District and the village below. The farmland - a former Victorian golf course - runs down to the edge of beautiful Rudyard Lake.
  • Beautiful views, fresh and clean feel to the barn, spacious with an enclosed garden (ideal for the dog) and prompt communication. We would definitely come back again!

And toilet ,,,listen to the birdsong or watch the stars, the sunset,or take a walk/cycle to local beauty spots and pubs
  • A beautiful little spot under trees and next to a quiet little stream. A 3 minutes walk to a lovely gastropub with great food. Mike was a lovely host - nothing was too much trouble. We were blessed with great weather too. The accommodation itself is basic to say the least, but that is exactly what we wanted. The bed is quite small, however weighing in at 6'4" I didn't have too much issue getting a comfy night. Would certainly recommend this pod for a rustic, no frills night.

    Doug2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Had a lovely stay in the land pod , nice views and the pub down the road serves amazing food. Only downfall was the beds in the land pod a little uncomfortable but apart from that we loved it and will definitely be back.

  • Really nice stay, totally recommend!

    Cinzia2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • The welcome is very warm and friendly and the location of the pod and glamping site an absolute delight! I thoroughly appreciated the laid back feel whilst staying there, and felt rejuvenated looking out from the pod and listening to the stream.

  • Very hospitable and kind hosts - the camping pod was very comfortable & situated next to a lovely stream. Highly recommended.

  • Lovely spot right next to the stream. As others have mentioned, space is restricted but if you come prepared you'll be fine. Hosts are great so no issues if this is your first experience.

  • Great hosts, cute pod, and the sheep added comedy value. Brilliant pub across the road and some great walks nearby.

    Kerry2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • What a fabulous little place to stay! We attended a show in Manchester and so we booked the landpod to have a different experience. We were warmly greeted by Mike and Louise upon our arrival and they were fantastic hosts. We messed around with times as we got caught in traffic and then forgot to print our show tickets so Louise very kindly did it for us. Nothing was too much trouble. The land pod itself is just like the pictures. It’s a small space but perfect place to just get your head down. It’s very peaceful, there’s a little babbling brook running close to the pod and beautiful scenery. Mike and Louise suggested a pub a stones throw away for breakfast which was fab! They also suggested a stop off at a local village or Chatsworth House on our way home. We took their advice and did both! Thank you so, so much for having us. We had the most amazing time and would highly recommend the land pod and the camping facilities!!

  • Great house to spend time with friends and family, we were 2 families catching up over the new year period, house was really clean, loads of glasses pots cutlery etc, absolutely everything you could need. Enough cleaning stuff so you could keep everything slick and span. Comfy beds, nice bedding and towels, a great place to relax and chill! Pool table and darts provided lots of fun! Nice walk out down the disused railway line and a cracking pub 100 meters away! Fantastic house in a great location! Highly recommend!!

  • Great house for a family get together. Lots of space and very comfortable. A bit chilly but the fire in the living room warmed us up, although we did need to go and get extra logs and kindling. The location is lovely, fabulous scenery and walks. Also the pub across the road, The Knot Inn, is well worth a visit - good food, reasonable prices and lovely service. All together a lovely weekend on the edge of the Peak District, would definitively come again.

  • This is a great place for a family gathering. The kitchen is very well equipped and the dining table is perfect for a larger family. We loved the living room with log burner which was great with the colder weather. Claire is a great host, she replied promptly to messages and was very helpful when we accidently left something behind. We would definitely recommend this property!

It includes: > a fully fitted kitchen (oven, hob, fridge & dishwasher plus microwave, kettle & toaster) with dining area > a separate comfortable sitting room with a sofa bed, another sofa, TV/DVD, radio/iPod dock, books & games > upstairs there are two bedrooms - the first bedroom has a flexible zip & link super king or twin bed - the second has twin beds - a cot can be provided > the upstairs bathroom has a combined bath / shower. There are two patio areas outside the cottage to the front and rear of the property, both with seating and perfect for barbeques.
Field House Cottage is situated next to Hen Cloud and The Roaches, between the bustling market town of Leek in Staffordshire and Buxton, the Derbyshire spa town. The Roaches form the south-western tip of the Pennines. This dramatic rocky ridge offers some of the best gritstone climbing in the UK and walkers and fell / trail runners can enjoy great routes across the area direct from the cottage. Artists and photographers will be inspired by the stunning scenery - the views and sunsets from The Roaches are spectacular. There are lots of outdoor activities for you and your family and friends to experience during your stay in the Peak District National Park including abseiling, caving, climbing, cycling, hiking, horse riding and running. For water sports, Tittesworth Water and Rudyard Lake are just a few miles away and also offer great birdwatching as does nearby Coombes Valley RSPB reserve. Whatever the weather, there's plenty to see and do in the area. Leek (4 miles away) and Buxton (10 miles) have many attractions and a wide range of shops, markets, pubs, restaurants and other amenities. There are also various country pubs just a short drive away as well as a tea room nearby. Other nearby places of interest include Alton Towers, Bakewell, Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Trentham Gardens and World of Wedgwood, to name just a few. And there are many other beautiful areas of the Peak District close by, such as Dovedale, Lathkill Dale, Monsal Head and the Hope Valley, for you to explore during your stay.
  • Beautiful stylish cottage with walking on the Roaches straight out the door. The host was very welcoming and helpful. Sleeping with the skylight ajar and the wind in the trees in a super comfy bed was a treat.

  • We have just returned from a wonderful mini break at the Field House Cottage. Our family loved the games available. The kitchen had everything you could possibly need and was well resources and stocked with essentials such as ketchup, salt and pepper and herbs. Olivia left us some oatcakes and milk which was such a special touch. She was so helpful and recommending where to go and what to do locally. The cottage was beautifully neat, clean and cosy. The beds were so comfy and we loved the big bath! Thank you so much for a wonderful stay, the cottage and grounds are stunning.

  • Lovely scenery, beautiful cottage. Would recommend!

    Lucy2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Olivia's place near Leek is a fantastic place to stay that we would highly recommend. The location is absolutely stunning, with beautiful walks around the stunning hills of the Peak District right out the back door. The place was sparkling clean, and really cosy. Olivia was really easy to communicate with, and sent us lots of useful tips and information for our stay. She thoughtfully arranged the sleeping spaces to fit our group before we arrived, and was on-hand in case anything went wrong (which it didn't). Thanks for a great stay, and we hope to be back again soon!

    Anya2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • We cannot recommend this cottage enough! Our stay really was the best and we cannot thank Olivia enough! The decorations, the comfy and warm cottage and the surroundings were so picturesque - it really made for a unforgettable Christmas!

  • Olivia's place is situated right under the beautiful Hen Cloud, making it perfect for anyone wanting to visit the Roaches. The cottage itself is fully stocked including some excellent board games and DVDs. My family and I had a lovely long weekend relaxing and enjoying being away from the busy city. Would definitely visit again!

    Carmen2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful location, quiet and peaceful, great walks nearby. House extremely well equipped, everything we needed and very clean. We had a lovely time thank you.

    Emma2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • Travelling with two young children, this cottage provided us with all we wanted and needed (and more). The cottage is placed in a great location and is clean and comfortable. The small details make it amazing: the milk in the fridge and fresh eggs on the counter when you arrive, the small but excellent dvd collection, the minimal but lovely decoration. Ten area also offers a lot for a family: from great walks to days out with the kids. We left feeling rested and refreshed and would definitely book it again.

Our apartment is located in Wincle, a small village in The Peak District National Park - a stunning location that is perfect for walking. Within 3 miles of the apartment there are 4 pubs serving great food as well as a micro-brewery, an ice cream farm and a trout fishing lake. The area offers peace and quiet for couples or solo adventurers looking to get away from it all.
The apartment was converted a few years ago in one of our barns. It consists of a large, comfortable, beamed bed-sitting room, a small separate kitchen and a shower room. It is heated by storage heaters and is double glazed. The apartment contains books, games, jigsaws, Freesat TV, DVDs and an iPod with docking station if you fancy just staying in and relaxing.
Wincle and its neighbour Danebridge straddle the River Dane where it separates Cheshire from Staffordshire. Wincle is geographically centred around the attractive St Michael's Church and adjacent village primary school, with spectacular moorland views across to the Roaches, Shutlingsloe and Hanging Stone as well as lush woodland and drystone-walled pastures. Such rich scenery and well-known pubs for eating and drinking, makes Wincle a favourite place for visitors.
  • A little gem nestled in the beautiful surroundings of the Peak District. John and Alison's presence and tips will make your stay a real pleasure... Highly recommended!

  • We had a really lovely stay here. The place is equipped with everything you need and there were lots of lovely extra touches that we really appreciated. We loved the quiet location but that it's also just a short stroll to to the local pub. There are lots of local walk suggestions and the surrounding area is beautiful. I'd really recommend staying here!

  • A fantastic space, I would heartily recommend it to anyone. The space has no WiFi but I found this to make for a much more enjoyable week away 🥰

    Callum2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • Getting to the apartment was easy and straighforward, and Alison made sure to send detailed instructions on how to get there. We arrived to a warm welcome from John and the most lively two puppers. The place was super clean and they went above and beyond with tea and milk provided as well as eggs from the chicken on the farm (tasty breakfast!). John provided us a few tips for local activities, there is a lot of info on walks and such covered in the leaflets inside the apt. as well! All in all, a lovely stay in a lovely place. Thanks for having us!

  • Lovely hosts who were really helpful with local tips (even lending us welly boots!). Great place to stay with amazing views

    Judi2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Alison and John’s place is a great get away for peace and quiet, with tranquil surroundings. Lovely location to explore the Peak District from, and also local walks within Wincle. Would love to return again!

  • Where shall I start..?? We visited the beautiful Peak District this weekend and had the pleasure of staying at The Apartment, Bartomley farm, Wincle. On arrival we were greeted with a warm smile and shown to our accommodation. It was a beautiful apartment set amongst the most stunning greenery with amazing views from every window. The photos don't do it justice, the bedroom was bigger than expected, separate kitchen, lovely bathroom with an exquisite Neals Yard Bee lovely hand wash which smelt divine. It was evident that our hosts, Alison and John had really taken care of our needs. Actually above and beyond as they had provided breakfast, milk (which we forgot to bring), Wincle wine & beer, shampoo n conditioner, snacks, jam, games, dvds and walking wellies and lights. You don't expect all this from a self catering bnb but yet they had done so and it didn't go unnoticed. The accommodation was stunning, you are a very short walk from 2 local pubs and the hosts are more than happy to advise you in anything to make your stay pleasant. We really enjoyed our stay with you and will recommend The apartment to our friends and family.

  • This is the most stunning cottage you could ever wish to find, it is outstandingly beautiful with the most amazing views, and fantastic hosts.

  • We go to a lot of air b N bs but have never been looked after as well as this trip. Really lovely folk & we really appreciate all the effort. Thank you

    Rosa2019-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • We can’t really do justice to this fame retreat: you will have to book your stay and see for yourself! Otter’s retreat is idyllic: plenty of walks in the area to keep you busy, few great pubs (we recommend the rose and Crown). The cottage is immaculate and has all the comforts you will need and more, the beds are incredibly comfortable and the shower rooms are just what you need after a long day of exploring. We recommend to bring some board games to spend the time reconnecting but Angela and Ian have already a few going there. The special touches of our hosts were incredibly thoughtful and really made our stay super comfortable. Thank you again Ian and Angela 💝

  • This is an amazing place to stay. Highly recommended to anyone. Kids loved the outdoor space and the little dog called Nancy. Would love to come back one day

  • You will find Otters Retreat to be a converted milking shed beyond the farmhouse. It has been splendidly done, to a very high standard. The decor and furnishings have been carefully thought out and executed. The bathrooms (showers) are very user friendly. The kitchen is as well equipped as anyone could want! Everywhere was sparkingly clean and there was fresh, home-made cake wating for us together with four fresh eggs and some marmalade!! Hosts Ian and Angela are very charming and helpful - nothing seems to be too much trouble for them. The cottage has limited views (there are barns) but the view that there is of the farm fields, the hills and the hanging stones is spectacular and not to be missed. Locally there is a pub serving food which is acceptable, beer which is better and exudes charm a-plenty. Wincle is in the heart of the peak district and there is easy access to some fabulous walks. Highly recommended!!!!!!

A place to truly savour - one mile off the beaten track, this charming Shepherds hut is positioned to take full advantage of the stunning and far reaching views, taking in the 3 counties of Cheshire, Derbyshire and Staffordshire. This individually designed space is truly relaxing, offering luxurious modern amenity in a small and perfectly formed heritage space not usually associated with a full size shower, flushing toilet, log burner and fully equipped kitchen.
Hen Cloud shepherd hut is accessed via 2 oak steps up to the raised platform and the outside dining area. From here you enter the hut via full height double glazed French doors. Inside to the right is the dining and seating area which can comfortably seat up to four. At night, collapse this table and pull down the king size wall bed to discover your sleeping area and another window from which to enjoy the view. The fully equipped kitchen gives you the option to do as much or as little catering as you wish with a small fridge, gas oven and hob enabling you to create most dishes. Alternatively, you can contact us if you would like food parcels or restaurant recommendations - you are on holiday after all! Last and by no means least, the all important ensuite containing a full size power shower, flushing toilet, heated towel rail and even a shaving point. A unique space from which to savour the charms of Whitelee Farm and the Peak District.
Wincle is a thriving community with a population density of just 0.008 per hectare versus a 2.5 average across the rest of the UK. The landscape is characterised mainly by farming activity with a number of small businesses attracting locals and tourists alike. With a brewery, fishing lake and 2 dining pubs in the vicinity there is plenty to experience in the immediate area on foot. Travel to the adjacent villages and you will discover an Ice cream farm, large wedding venue, outdoor pursuits and organised water sports to name but a few things. Whilst we are very rural there are a number of towns within 20 minutes by car that offer a diverse and distinctive character from Antique shopping in Leek to a renowned theatre and famous baths in Buxton. Looking further afield the cities of Manchester and Sheffield are within an hours drive; with Liverpool, Leeds, Nottingham and Birmingham around one and a half hours.
  • Me and partner spent Valentine's Day weekend in this lovely picturesque Shepard's hut. From the scenic views of the various hills to the cosiness of the hut it was lovely from arrival till we left. We didn't want to leave as it was so nice! The hosts were very thorough and attentive throughout our stay, always quick to reply to any messages or giving us any information about the local area. Emma was very welcoming on our arrival and explained everything about the hut. The hut itself is lovely and quaint, peaceful and the log fire just tops it off. The place felt so cosy even during storm Dennis. Hearing the rain on the roof and watching the storm over the hills from the hut was fantastic. The place was spotless and fresh. The local amenities are within a short walking distance. There is a pub just 15 minutes stroll which serves fantastic food and drink. A brewery down the road if you fancy a longer walk. We loved our stay and would happily return in the future. Thank you for having us.

  • A perfect little hideaway. Clean, convenient and ingenious space with everything you need, with beautiful walking right from the front door. Fire pit perfect for BBQs & sitting under the stars, and although it was too warm for us I bet the wood-burner makes it cosy in the winter!

  • Emma’s shepherd huts are beautiful! The space works incredibly well. There’s everything you could ever need - including an exceptionally comfy bed! We had such a nice time that we didn’t want to leave. Thank you!
