Set in a historic house over 500 years old, this conversion from the old stables exudes character and rural charm. Right on the Coleridge Way, it's perfect for walkers and anyone who wants a comfortable base from which to tour Exmoor and North Devon.
You will be living in an old stables - but without the horses, sadly! It has been converted by a well-known architect famous for her work on historic buildings.
  • Absolutely gorgeous stay. Loved the property; very comfortable and clean, and it was an absolute tonic to be in the rural quiet, looking out to sea. Perfect!

  • Beautiful views across fields and woods to the sea beyond, a remote and peaceful spot. The cottage was clean, cosy and warm.

    Sue2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed a fabulous stay, the cottage was perfect, the location, scenery and walking were outstanding.

    Lynne2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • An outstandingly beautiful location. Very remote, so be prepared, and pack for all eventualities. Jeremy is a very helpful host, so do ask for advice before heading out. The cottage is really cosy and atmospheric, and ideal for those who enjoy outdoor adventures. Highly recommended.

  • Beautiful spot for a break away, far from the town. The view here is amazing. You are far from all amenities so make sure you've stocked up before you arrive.

  • Nestling on the coastal edge, this old parsonage combines a warm welcome, a beautiful view and marvellously comfortably surroundings to enjoy the area. Fresh bread and local conserves await you and view over the Bristol Channel framed with lovely rolling pastures provides a relaxing backdrop. Perfect as a base for exploring the north Devon and Somerset coasts, or to just curl up and recharge.

    Jon2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • The stables are really lovely, comfortable and homely. The location is a little way out of town but is so quiet and peaceful. I particularly enjoyed how dark the bedroom is at night due to the fact there is no light pollution- making for an excellent night’s sleep. Smartly decorated accommodation. Very friendly hosts- highly recommend!

    Stephanie2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • I can’t recommend Parsonage Otter Stables highly enough. A cosy and relaxing bolt hole for an Autumnal break- can’t wait to go back and try all the other seasons! Thank you so much Jeremy and Paivi for being the perfect hosts.

  • Great location with beautiful views out the bedroom window. Thanks!

    Mark2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • A fantastic place to stay if you want to explore Lynton and Lynmouth. The location is excellent - it's a few minutes walk from all of the local restaurants, pubs and attractions and is also directly on the seafront; looking out in the morning is a real treat. Carol was a great host; everything we needed was there upon arrival and she was quick to respond to any messages we had. All-round, we had a superb time.

    Amy2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Just enjoyed a night in this lovely cottage, ideally located for a stroll on the beach or to the local shops & cafes. Cottage was very pretty and cosy, would love to visit again in the summer.

    Caroline2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing location and the place is lovely. Super helpful host who made sure all was great and we had all we needed. Highly recommended!

    Barry2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is beautifully situated right next to the beach. It is a fantastically dog friendly area. The coast path, valley or the rocks, Watersmeet, etc are all easily accessible for those who like walking and the village and amenities are just a short stroll away - we didn’t drive once we had arrived! We didn’t meet Carol but communicated by text and someone else met us, so all very smooth. Beautiful character filled cottage in a stunning location. Thank you

    Helen2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely cottage, a few minutes walk to Lynmouth high street and right on the beach. Would definitely stay again!

    Louise2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Wow!!! We booked a night away with our toddler and dog as needed a little R&R after a hectic Christmas and New Years. What an amazing find! The location couldn’t have been more perfect. Carol was so warm and welcoming despite not feeling well. The cottage had everything we needed and was more than suitable for us (travel cot and high chair for toddler). It had such a lovely feel to it, with a lovely balance of old and new. Walking outside the front door to such an amazing view was priceless. We took the buggy with us but never needed it as everything was in walking distance (albeit we did drive two minutes to Lynton to for some supplies). I would highly recommend visiting to anyone reading this. Lynmouth was beautiful (even in the January weather) and we enjoyed some lovely walks in the area. Our dog was welcomed everywhere we went. I hope to be back one day.

  • Beautiful unique place in a fantastic location. We stayed here whilst walking The South West Coastal Path and found it very relaxed and friendly. The host Gill was very welcoming and understanding of our muddy boots. We felt very much at home and enjoyed a lovely bath and good nights sleep. Breakfast was super tasty, lots of veggie and fish options too, we loved the vegan "Fatty Rascals".

Gillian was a great host, really going the extra mile to make sure I enjoyed my stay. I would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend this B&B to anyone looking to discover Exmoor, not least for the stunning surroundings!

Gillian was a great host- friendly and helpful with her recommendation for a perfect place to eat after a long days walk on the SWCP from Minehead. Breakfast was delicious with homemade jams as well. Would definitely stay again if in the area.

    MaryAnne2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Gillian's house is charming Olde Worlde with a sea view across the marsh, and close to shops of Porlock. Breakfasts are scrumptious. Tea and coffee in room. Comfy bed. Perfect location for walkers in area: Porlock Weir, Marsh, and the woodland hillsides either side of the vale. Quiet street, hardly any traffic. As its a cottage style house, you may hear guests early in the morning.

A ground floor apartment on the edge of Porlock village. With a king size bed in a double bedroom and a small double bed in a small room, this property is best suited to 3 adults - but OK for four, if two don't mind a smaller bed in a small room.
Newly refurbished and ideal as a base to explore the hills, woods, marshland and Exmoor itself, while being a minute or two's walk from village amenities.
Porlock is unusual as it has thriving shops - excellent locally owned grocer, three pubs, restaurants, hardware shop, butcher, post office and many other outlets. There are good walks in different directions from the village and the old harbour at Porlock Weir is a mile down the road.
  • The flat is well appointed, clean comfortable and near the centre of Porlock which was perfect for our stay. Thank you.

  • If you want a comfortable, conveniently-located place to stay in Porlock, you couldn't do better than Pointview. It is very clean and comfortable and Duncan, the host, goes out of his way to make sure that you have everything you need. It caters comfortably for 4, although I have often been on my own for some good walks in the countryside.

    Jill2019-11-14T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed for 2 nights at the end of Oct . The property is lovely and clean. Well equipped with a nice homely feel.

  • We had such a great wet November weekend staying at Adam's barn. A warm fire welcomed us along with Adam. Who played it just right with always being there if you needed anything but never infringing on that sense of having the place to yourself. Adam's farm is a short walk from Porlock. We were able to get out walking, through the woods and along the coast ending up in a local tavern with great local hospitality. Without ever having to use the car. I would recommend.

    Tony2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Adam's place is great, plus Adam was a kind and attentive host who was keen to ensure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. We wanted to walk the first stretch of the South West Coast Path, so Porlock was the perfect location for this. On arrival in Porlock early afternoon, we walked along the SWCP to Porlock Weir, then back again via a woodland path. The next day, after a wonderful breakfast, delivered promptly by our kind host, we took a bus into Minehead, then walked back to Porlock. This means we effectively completed the first stretch of the path, albeit with the latter part first! Being so central within the village, but in a quiet and peaceful spot, this is an ideal gettaway. Being in a converted barn was fun and we enjoyed the space very much. It was just a 5 minute walk into the village for its amenities and shops. The Ship Inn did a great evening meal and we also indulged in afternoon tea at The Whortlebury Team Room.

  • Great space and the best host I've experienced on AirBandB. Very friendly, super quick to respond to questions and a really nice touch with breakfast being provided in the mornings. The space is very nice and an easy walking distance into the village. Highly recommend!!

  • Cosy, charming & authentic cottage right on the waterfront. Minutes from all the amenities that Minehead has to offer but also well placed to explore Exmoor National Park. Very comfortable well equipped accommodation, couldn't ask for more really.

  • This is a lovely cosy cottage with all the amenities required for a very comfortable stay. It's in a great location with parking right outside and was very close to the town. Yet it was quiet with very little traffic and the distant sound of the sea. It's much warmer than most cottages I've previously stayed in because of the way it's been insulated. I was amazed at what good value it was.

Accommodation on Exmoor cannot be found in more delightful surroundings than Porlock. . Approached via a narrow lane, behind the 13th century church, Marley Cottage is in a secluded yet central location. Dating back to the late Victorian era, the cottage is the end terrace of six properties originally built as homes for local boat builders. Recently renovated, Marley Cottage has been thoughtfully decorated and furnished to create an inviting holiday home, with a pretty south facing seating area. To the front, the cottages share a pedestrian right of way for access. Weekly guests normally arrive on Saturday. I can sometimes be flexible for a Sunday arrival. One well behaved dog is welcome at the cottage
The hills of Exmoor surround Porlock on three sides, with the heather covered moors cut by deep, often wooded combes with clear sparkling streams at their base. The spectacular beauty of Exmoor is protected by the Exmoor National Park Authority and the National Trust, with the flora and fauna on the moor helped by the award-winning purity of the air. In addition, Porlock Bay has received EU awards for the cleanliness of the sea-water. Its unique situation allows Porlock to enjoy a wonderful, warm and soft climate. The village of Porlock on Exmoor Porlock is a traditional Exmoor Village with a long history of settlements existing on or near the site of the existing village, with stone-age remains only a short distance away. It is also a working village with shops supplying all that you need, to be found in the High Street. You will certainly be sure of a friendly Exmoor welcome in them all. This will be echoed in the pubs, hotels and restaurants to be found here.
  • Good location, easy walking distance of all amenities

  • Fantastic location, lovely and quiet tucked behind the main high street. We had a wonderful stay. The house was well equipped with everything we needed, and beds were very comfy! Thank you for the biscuits - a nice touch! Our communication with Stephen before we went was great, and he was always very quick to respond. We would thoroughly recommend this house to others.

  • cute compact cottage at the end of a row of cottages. very narrow lane for the access, small cars only. lovely town.

    Josie2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • A pretty cottage tucked away just behind the high street. Only a couple of minutes walk with pubs shops etc. nearby. There is a also a great network of footpaths and bridleways to walk close by, particularly to Porlock Weir for a meal or drink in an evening. I would recommend parking in the central car park in Porlock - mostly empty and only a short walk. I would also recommend making use of the cafetiere in the cottage. There is a roastery in Porlock (Miles coffee) and you can buy their wares from the Spar which makes for a great coffee in the morning!

  • We really enjoyed our stay here. We stayed for a week, there were 5 of us, my partner and me and his 3 daughters plus dog. Enough space & room for all of us, really clean, lovely bedrooms and comfy beds, everything you need and well thought out - washing machine/dryer/dishwasher. There were flowers, fresh milk and teabags on our arrival, which was a super nice touch after a really long journey across the country!! It was the perfect base for us whilst we explored Exmoor & Somerset. Porlock has everything you need (the cottage is in the centre of it but it’s very quiet and hidden away)- a couple of pubs, local shop open til late, car garage, little coffee shop and a few random shops which we enjoyed on a lazy morning pottering about. Local museum is really nicely curated and interesting too. Unfortunately we left it til the last night to drive down to Porlock Weir and were a bit gutted as it’s a really beautiful area with nice pubs/places to eat and we felt should’ve done it earlier... Don’t make the same mistake! Minehead 10 minutes drive away with all the big supermarkets. Stephen was also a great host, very quick to respond, plus we also had a local housekeeper we could contact if there were any difficulties (which there weren’t). Really nice getaway and good value, we would definitely return if in that area of the country again.

  • Great place to stay. Comfy beds well equipped great location. Loved the outdoor table and chairs and the shortbread and flowers. Easy access to village and buses to Minehead and vintage bus to Lynmouth.

  • Very good and central location in Porlock. Nice and historical house with lovely details.

    Hartmut2019-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay at this beautiful little cottage which has facilities suitable for a family on a wet day whilst being an ideal location to explore the lovely, friendly village of Porlock, with a short stroll taking you to the interesting range of quirky shops and the One-Stop shop that provides a very handy range of groceries. The garage is also really good as we needed a rear windscreen wiper for an old Toyota Avensis that they kindly matched and fitted at no extra charge. The cottage bedrooms are particularly nice and we can vouch for the bed in the room above the kitchen being extremely comfortable! We also found the cot that was very easy to put up ideal for our 2½ year-old granddaughter. We'd like to thank Stephen for providing us with such pleasant accommodation for our visit.

  • After an arduous journey we were met by Nicola who made us very welcome to our cottage. The property and surroundings were perfect and the effort made to suggest walks for people of all abilities were fantastic. We took advantage of this and took in some amazing views of Exmoor and Minehead!! The property itself was lovely! Clean, well equipped, cosy and perfect for my son & I for 1 weeks stay. We were completey unaware just how good the games room was and took advantage of having a game of ping pong to unwind. Would recommend this place to anyone! Such beautiful surroundings and well located to see so much of Exmoor! Hope to return one day and take on some more of the challenging walks.

Light and airy twin bedroom in picturesque four-bed house, parts of which are around 400 years old. Within the Exmoor National Park, our home is in a wooded valley and accessed via an uneven private road. Guests have use of a sitting room with wood burning stove and a breakfast room with oil-fired aga. Sit out on the patio and listen to the morning birdsong and nearby stream. After sundown, in the absence of clouds (and no light pollution), marvel at the stunning night sky.
For good reason the location is very popular with walkers. Turn left at the front gate for a pleasant, one-mile stroll to the village shops and the amenities of Porlock. Turn right and the path leads to endless, wonderful Exmoor walks. The surrounding woods and moors are home to wild Exmoor ponies and are one of the country's last secure haunts of the red deer. Nearby well-known beauty spots such as: Dunster village and castle; the much-photographed Porlock Weir; Culbone Church; Dunkery Beacon; Lynton; Lynmouth; Oare Church; Selworthy Church and Green; Tarr Steps; Watersmeet; Winsford; the Valley of Rocks, and the West Somerset Railway, are either a walk or short car journey away.
  • A real hideaway place in idyllic surroundings. Breakfast was lovely with fresh fruit, yoghurt, cereals and toast. Bed very comfortable and lovely little shower room next door to bedroom. Many little thoughtful touches of shower products and extra heater in the bedroom. Hosts are very friendly and interesting people.

  • We thoroughly enjoyed escaping to this wonderful, tranquil retreat to recharge for a few days, and would highly recommend Sookie and Stephen's lovely home.

  • A beautiful cottage located in a forrest with a small stream running in front, stylish internal decoration. The hosts are very kind and friendly. We enjoyed our stay and nice talk with them, just like meeting old friends. Read the direction provided by the host carefully and follow it exactly because Google may not be able to lead you to the right place.

    Stefano2019-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • We used this wonderful home as a stopover on the South West Coastal Path. It’s a gorgeous house set at the edge of the woods, alongside an Exmoor stream. Stephen and Sookie were perfect hosts - very highly recommended!

    Jonathan2019-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • We were warmly welcomed and felt immediately at ease. Stephen and Sookie are very attentive hosts and interesting conversation partners. Breakfast was excellent, room and bathroom clean, communication smooth. The journey is very wildly romantic through the forest along the stream, so you should not be fooled that you are on the wrong path. We can only recommend this accommodation and would return anytime!

    Johanna2019-06-17T00:00:00Z
  • Sookie and Stephen are very welcoming hosts. We really enjoyed the conversations at her cozy kitchen table. The house is located in a beautiful valley about a mile outside of Porlock. It is very tastefully decorated - furnishing fans are just right here: old furniture and great wall colors ... The garden is also a dream.

19 Holloway Street is a lovely family home, the room we let is on the ground floor, and has good wardrobe space, tea and coffee making facilities and free view TV. We benefit from high speed broadband of which is unlimited to yourselves. We are literally just around the corner from the high street thus accessing shops, restaurants and pubs are quite easy!! During the summer we welcome you to use our patio to relax for a tea/coffee.. or something stronger!
The room we let is on the ground floor and is quiet, it’s a large room with a King Size bed. The room itself will sleep two people, the pricing should work.. that there is a base price shown for one person and then a small supplement when two people occupy the room. As is mentioned further through the description we do offer accommodation only (no breakfast) but guest are welcomed to use the kitchen facilities in moderation
I’ve mentioned it in the ‘overall’ description but we are just off the Main Street of Minehead.. in fact about 60-70 meters from Minehead’s Costa Coffee. We have a good pub virtually opposite side of the road (The Queens Head) that does great food, just around the corner is one of Minehead’s best restaurants (Fausto’s), if neither of these appeal there’s always Weatherspoons just around the corner (also a fairly good stop for breakfast). In the bedroom we also have guides on ‘places to eat’ around the area - there’s lots!
  • Exactly what it says on the tin! Great if you just need somewhere to sleep and rest. Jeramy was a great host and did his best to fulfill my needs.

    Henry2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • I can highly recommend this accommodation. A light airy double room with excellent tea/coffee making facilities and more than enough wardrobe space for two people on an extended stay. The accommodation is located just off the main high street next to shops, bars and restaurants and only a 10 min walk to the beach. The host was very warm and welcoming and is the best Air BnB I’ve stayed in.

  • Jeremy was very welcoming and helpful in regards to the local area, I would definitely recommend and would stay again! Very close to an event I was attending and the room was excellent!

  • Great stay with Jeremy and family. Fab location just of the town's main street but with out noise or disturbances. Parking on street outside or just 100yrds up the hill no issues finding parking. Nice size double bedroom with drinks making facility and tv (freeview) in the room. Many thanks Jeremy

    Richard2019-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • Jeremy was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and tidy and had plenty of space and light. The bed was comfy and the shower was hot, which was perfect after a hard days mountain biking. It is situated right in town so easy to grab a bit to eat or have a drink. We can’t recommend Jeremy enough and the icing on the cake was their jack russel Williow who was adorable.

    Marlon2019-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • Jeremy was a great host quick response to any messages. A nice bedroom with lots of storage for your clothes. The bed was exceptionally comfy. The house about a 1 minute walk on to the main high street. So it’s just far away enough so you don’t get disturbed by noise at night from the town. I had an enjoyable time in Minehead I thought it was a really nice town.

  • I had a lovely stay. Michelle and Husband Adrian are very kind people. They have a lovely place with an incredible garden! It’s very peaceful.. great for anyone looking for a quiet retreat from which to explore the lovely Minehead/Exmoor area. I stayed for work purposes and had all the amenities I needed to stay for a few weeks including cooker, fridge and washing machine. There’s even a gym and co-op down the road 1 minute by car! I found the WiFi signal to be a bit weak in the bedroom and was having trouble streaming videos the first night on my laptop, but once I told Michelle they moved the router around and it was fantastic after that. It’s been absolutely lovely staying here and they are so accommodating and easy to get along with - absolute natural hosts! Will definitely stay again in the future if there’s space!

The gardens at the house were fantastic and overall we had a really relaxing time. Thank you!

Puffins is a recently renovated apartment within the quiet setting of The Old Tannery. Melody and David carried out the conversion focusing on creating a luxury apartment at an affordable price in the centre of Porlock, where pubs and food are just a short walk. Porlock in the heart of Exmoor is a stunningly beautiful area to explore, with coastline, country and wildlife on the doorstep. Puffins caters for 4 people and if required the main bed can be split into two large singles.
Puffins is great for families or two couples or just as a luxury getaway for two. We aim to provide all you will need for your stay including bathrobes and slippers.
Puffins is set in a quiet private area and yet is only 50 metres from the High Street with it's pubs, restaurants and shops.
  • Puffins truly exceeded our expectations. The pictures alone don't do justice to how clean comfortable and well-equipped it is. Ideally located in a quiet backwater the centre of the village.

    Geoff2019-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • This was the perfect place for our holiday. Porlick is a 'real'village and blessed with gorgeous countryside around and Puffins is a superb stroll away from the Marsh. A lovely friendly atmosphere and plenty of amenities in the village. The apartment is gorgeous and felt spacious and comfortable. One my absolute favourite places .

  • Lovely tiny house, beautifully decorated and equipped with everything you need. The place is very quiet and the surroundings are gorgeous. We enjoyed the private space outside to read and sit by the fire pit in the evenings. The hut is conviniently located on the campsite: close to the entrance of the campsite and the toilet/shower house. Hazel and Carol are very friendly. We would definitely stay here again!

Lovely open-plan upstairs flat in the centre of Minehead. The property is grade-II listed building. Full of character, it is the oldest building in Minehead. Shops and cafes right on your doorstep. Beach is a 5 minute walk away. Blenheim Gardens, a beautiful local park is a 2 minute walk away.
  • Carole was lovely and was more than helpful during our entire stay. The location is incredible with it being close to a nice public garden, pubs and shops (without it being noisy - visited in March). Accommodation was very pleasant, quirky/unique and had a cosy feel to it. Definitely thinking of buying an electric blanket after our visit!

  • Amazing comfortable space in an ancient building in the center of Minehead. Great kitchen, nice hot shower. Carol was very eager to help and showed us where the easy parking was nearby.

  • I wouldn’t hesitate to say here again. Carol is an amazing host and nothing too much trouble, there was a lot of added extras which we thought was a lovely touch. It’s the prefect central location, close to everything. Would definitely recommend to others.

    Jake2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great stay at Carole’s place. She was wonderful to deal with both before and on the day. Check in was simple and comprehensive and Carole had all the amenities and staples we could have possibly needed. The apartment was very comfortable and clean. Thanks for a lovely stay!

    Moya2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Brilliant central town location but very quiet. Very near to the extensive Minehead beach. Apartment is full of character with old beams. Plenty warm enough and plenty of hot water for showers. Carole left us an extensive range of food and drinks for breakfast also a good selection of toiletries. Good wi fi . Parking on adjacent road and unloading easy at front door. Carole responded quickly to our queries and didn’t mind us changing the time we gave the key back. We would highly recommend this place.

The Linhay has been newly refurbished. It is the ideal location for a peaceful break in the heart of the Exmoor National Park. It has a cosy sitting area with wood burning stove, a well appointed kitchen and a double bed with feather duvet and 100% cotton sheets. The cottage is situated on a working farm, the highest on Exmoor. A host of local activities are just a stones throw away: walking, mountain biking, horse riding, sailing, fishing, shooting and country house tours, to name but a few!
The Linhay was once a 19th century farm building. It is now an annexe to the main house and has recently been refurbished to a high standard.
The Linhay is a 5 minute drive from Simonsbath and 20 minutes from Lynton. Braunton and Saunton Sands are 20 miles away. You will find a Sainsbury’s in South Molton which is a 10 minute drive from the farm.
  • We had a great stay here. It was a haven in the middle of the moors, quiet and away from hustle and bustle. Exactly what we had been craving. The cottage had everything we needed, a comfy bed, wood burner and cosy decor for a wet and cold weekend! It was lovely to wake up and see sheep in the courtyard. We liked that slow wifi and limited phone signal allowed us to switch off, snuggle up, read and watch a film. We would definitely recommend this place

    Jo2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is perfect a base to come back after a full day out, it’s very spacious and homely, the bed is lovely, and the bath was ideal. It’s clean and stylish, with thoughtful touches like local biscuits & a helpful guide to the area in the welcome book. We were really pleased that the kitchen is fully stocked and we were able to cook our own food there (as we visited in off season & a rainy day, the local pub was empty!) The area is just stunning, we saw some Exmoor ponies as dusk on our way back to the house, and though we weren’t staying longer - our lovely host said there were some great walks straight from the cottage.

    Rona2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Great place so lovely clean. Sweet a die for us which was needed after a day of walking around the moors. Self catered and had everything we needed available for us. Struggled finding in the night as had no signal and just followed the address from the map on Airbnb. My own mistake. Thank you

    Billy2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful annexe with everything you could want. The place was spotless and Shelley and Ed had put a lot of effort into all the little touches which made our stay extra special. Perfect little getaway surrounded by incredible views!

A delightful converted barn tucked away in a valley that can accommodate 6 people. Set in stunning scenery with uninterrupted views over the hills and a cobbled courtyard to the rear, home to our farmyard characters - ducks, chickens and Thunderbolt the goose. There is a small enclosed garden area to enjoy a bit of al fresco living and includes a BBQ.
Wheddon Cross is right in the heart of Exmoor. Excellently located for exploring the whole it is a thriving village. There is a village pub in walking distance, a petrol station, village shop and a church. The village is the highest on Exmoor and the closest to Dunkery Beacon the highest point on Exmoor.

  • A beautiful barn in a peaceful setting on a farm next to the chicken and ducks (who are lovely). Well equipped kitchen. Beautiful log burner. Lovely view from the lounge doors over the hills. Short drives to most walks on the moors or woods. Rachael is friendly and welcoming. Local shop is handy.

    Hilary2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a lovely stay at the barn, it was cosy yet spacious with lots of extra touches. Rachael was great to communicate too, v responsive and nothing was too much bother. We’d definitely come back!

    Mel2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here for New years, there where 5 of us with 3 dogs. The place is really spacious and perfect for staying with dogs. Great location for walking. Rachel supplied us with lush freshly made bread, jam, butter, milk and eggs from the chickens, really lovely. The kitchen has everything one needs to cook a big meal. We also very much enjoyed the log fire. Very comfy and cosy cottage.

    Tanja2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Rachael's place was ideal for our family of 6 and dog. Very roomy, well equipped and warm . Good views and a pub 5 mins away. We wouldn't hesitate to go back. Rachael was very helpful , baked bread for our arrival with jam and butter, and milk too.

    Bridget2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Rachael is a wonderful host, the barn is superbly laid out with the kitchen/lounge in the centre of the accommodation. Rachael bent over backwards to make our first trip away stress free while we adjust to parenthood with a 2 week old baby. Even adjusting heating times so the midnight feeds were warm! Excellent.

    Karl2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay very much. The barn was sparkling clean and very spacious. There was plenty to explore on the farm and Rachael gave us some great tips about where to go exploring. We would never had headed to Dunkery beacon if she’d not have suggested it. It is a perfect location and you don’t need to travel far to get to many of the interesting places in Exmoor. When we arrived there was a fresh loaf in the bread maker which was such a lovely surprise. The place smelt wonderful. We had a fantastic stay, thank you Rachael.

  • A truly wonderful space and location, with two pubs a short walk away. Better than the pictures show - especially the kitchen, which is open plan to the sitting and dining room area and kitted out to a very high quality. Ample and generous breakfast supplies (including eggs and bacon) for our whole stay, also did us for some lunches and snacks. Very suitable for a winter visit - on arrival and throughout it was warm, with welcoming lights and a bijoux Christmas tree welcoming us, as well as drinks and nibbles. Plenty of hot water, and a proper bath. There is a porch with dog bowls and towels provided, and the outside patio area appeared to be securely fenced. We could hear the river from the bedroom, very relaxing. Evenings were spent listening to the amazing record collection in the very comfortable sitting area. We didn't even get as far as the games and books. I would love to come back at another time of year to be able to sit out for meals, and walk again the route along the river to Watersmeet and up to the Blue Ball inn at Contisbury. Roads in the area are steep - if it's snowy it might be difficult to get the car out very far (we had no problem in frost-free weather with our small city car), but two welcoming pubs are in walking distance.

  • Exceptional apartments in beautiful location with dedicated parking, private garden and proximity to the local village of Porlock and Exmoor. Owners attention to detail and extras add to a perfect venue for a short break or longer stay.

    Gavin2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Nice place, well laid out and spacious with a well-equipped kitchen. A short walk to all that Porlock has to offer and right next door to a great pub. Quiet at night, though, and with a lovely shared garden. I'd advise bringing an eye-mask because there seems to be no way of shutting the skylights, so you might find it too bright early in the morning.

  • Hazel's place was amazing - I would recommend it to anyone!!! Myself and my partner stayed for 3 nights and had such a nice time. On arrival the bed was made up for us and Hazel had left us some eggs and milk which was such a nice touch. The bed itself was bigger than expected and so comfy - had no issues sleeping! Outside there was a little table and chairs but there was also a small storage container which had camp chairs, a fire pit and some logs. The site itself was lovely, warm showers, clean toilets and such a well-kept field. Will definitely stay again.

  • We had the most amazing trip to Hazel’s Shepherds Hut. It is in a beautiful and quiet location, and just a 5-10 minute drive from the coast and shops. Hazel has thought of every little thing you could need and I felt so cosy and at home. I am already planning multiple trips back to this little gem 😊 xxx

  • Cute shepherds hut. I would recommend to all.

    Joe2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • A great find, situated on a beautiful campsite. The shepherds hut itself was very clean and well equipped with everything you need including a BBQ and also very stylishly decorated. Hazel was a great host who made us feel very welcome, we will definitely be back.

Light and airy flat in the former stables to this house with an open plan kitchen/dining/living area (with full size double sofa bed), large shower room and bedroom with king size bed. And yes, it really was part of the groom's accommodation!
  • The flat is in a beautiful wooded valley but very close to the centre of Porlock a short walk down a lane. Clean and high spec shower and very peaceful. Nice seated area outside and many walks in the area on the coast or inland. Parking close to flat. A good stay in a lovely setting.

  • We had a great week over New Year. The flat is very well placed for walking along the coast as well as on Exmoor with local pubs within a short walking distance. The flat was well kited out, clean and warm perfect for us.

  • After a hectic summer we really needed a short break and some peace and quiet and that’s precisely what was delivered. David was a superb host from our first meeting with a tour of the accommodation where everything was covered from forks to fire escapes to some great pointers on places to head for despite the rain, nothing was too much trouble. The accommodation couldn’t have been better a real home from home, 5 stars all round.

    Thomas2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • Obviously we chose the Groom's Flat because we thought it look nice - however we hadn't appreciated just how spectacular the setting would be! The gardens and surrounding countryside are really beautiful. The flat is nice and private and has been thoughtfully designed. It is bigger and brighter than the photos suggest. David was a great host and has some excellent maps for the numerous walks around the area.

    Tracey2019-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • This is our second time staying in the Grooms flat and everything was perfect. David is a very welcoming host and the grounds are stunning. Its a hidden gem in a wonderful part of Somerset. A lovely stroll to the Top Ship for a pint of Gun dog Millionaire cider is a must.

    Danielle2019-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • Cosy, clean and well-equipped in a quiet and very beautiful location. Ideal base for spooning the local area, with some wonderful woodland walks just outside the door!

    Martin2019-06-21T00:00:00Z
  • This is a real gem of a place. Beautifully clean, modern facilities, very quiet and restful in lovely grounds. David is an excellent host, very knowledgeable and helpful with maps etc. Look forward to returning soon.

  • You can expect a very hospitable host, with outstanding knowledge of the surrounding areas. The guest house itself is adorable and has all the amenities you need and more. Porlock is truly a beautiful area; even more so given the fact David was so helpful with useful tips regarding places to visit. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for an escape from reality, alone, as a couple or a group!! Thanks again David :)

The Snug is a cosy cottage ideal for a couple or friends looking for some time away. With a log burner and a bedroom with exposed beams offering views over Dunkery Beacon, you might never want to leave the house! Freshly renovated and located in the centre of the village of Timberscombe, The Snug is an ideal location for short to medium length breaks or those who are planning on spending the majority of their time in the great outdoors.
Downstairs we have a cosy lounge with a log burner and a small kitchenette (mini fridge, kettle, tea and coffee), allowing you to make a warm drink after a day exploring Exmoor. Upstairs is the king sized bedroom and the bathroom. Please note that this is an old cottage, so the stairs are fairly steep. We are happy to welcome well behaved dogs (one medium sized or maximum of two small), but please do not allow dogs on the furniture or upstairs, or leave them unattended. Please also note that there is no garden with The Snug. However there are many walks and places to toilet your dogs a few metres from the front door. For those looking to stay connected whilst away, we have fibre broadband with a dedicated guest mesh WiFi network, meaning you will have fast and reliable internet. Phone signal is generally good in the village. Vodafone, EE, and O2 customers should get 4G reception. ‘Three’ customers may struggle indoors, but WiFi calling is possible on our WiFi.
Timberscombe is a traditional farming village in the Exmoor National Park and is in prime position for exploring the surrounding area. In the village itself we have a fantastic pub, The Lion Inn, which is highly recommended for a meal and a drink. Conveniently it's just a few doors down, so within easy stumbling distance! There's also a local shop and Post Office should you need to top up on essential supplies. We're a three mile (six minute) drive to the historic medieval village of Dunster. Alternatively you can walk there via Nutcombe Bottom forest, which contains the tallest tree in England! We are also ideally placed to enjoy Snowdrop Valley, which is a spectacle not to be missed if you're visiting in the winter. Minehead is six miles (10 minutes) down the road, and contains all of the amenities you could require for a week away. There are three supermarkets (Tesco, Morrisons, and Lidl) all within a stones throw of each other. Exmoor is a walking and cycling (road or mountain) heaven. We’ve created a list of our favourite routes, which you can find in your Guest Handbook when you arrive. These are a combination of spectacular routes leaving from the front door, and those further afield which you’ll need to travel to. Horse riding and fishing are two of the other major hobbies, with plenty of locations to give these a go. Golfers can find Somerset’s oldest golf course down at Minehead, which is a links course based on the coast. For the more adventurous, Wimbleball Lake and Porlock Weir are both a 20 minute drive away, and allow for swimming, kayaking, and other water sports. For those looking for beaches, Minehead is big and sandy and great for a family day out. Porlock and Bossington are quieter, but are pebbly. A bit further afield are the magnificent Woolacombe and Croyde beaches which are famous for surfing.
  • The Snug was perfect for a weekend escape - cosy and comfy for exploring Somerset and Exmoor. Loved my time there and will definitely be back

    Matt2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic place to stay, great location within yards from the village pub. Would definitely recommend this place and the hosts Matt and Jess. Thank you x

    Sue2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We found the Snug to be a lovely place to stay, exactly as described and Matt and Jess were very attentive hosts going the extra mile with special touches. We were thrilled to be greeted by a specially baked vegan cake! Sparkly clean and with a great cosy feel, the woodburner was also a welcome touch for the January weather. Easily found within the heart of the village, there is a great pub a moments walk away. Keen walkers can leave the car parked up and hike up to Dunkery Beacon and back with Matt thoughtfully supplying laminated guides/maps of the local trails. Matt also provided us with plenty of information before we arrived too. We would certainly happily go back.
