  • Tidy and clean. Better than I expected. Had cute little touches, that I really loved. Only booked for one night, for a wedding, but wished had booked for longer.

  • The most amazing space, a really unique AirBnB experience! Definitely recommend to anyone looking for a comfortable, well set up, welcoming spot to stay - with the coolest styling and feeling. Loved it!

  • What a fantastic place! We truly felt welcomed, and the church was so spacious and clean. Our little guy had so much room to practice his walking. What made this place more beautiful is Jo’s kindness and generosity, she brought fresh milk for our son and fresh eggs from her farm. We will definitely stay there again.

  • A beautiful space that hugs you while you stay. Beautiful features, well appointed, fabulous view. Will stay again.

  • Airbnb displays pictures of cool, one-of-a-kind spaces, and we have never been able to rent one in a destination we needed or wanted to visit. Until now. Jo's house is *an actual deconsecrated church* as advertised. It is renovated and preserved in such a way that you really do have the experience of being in a church. It was mind blowing. The altar is intact, although now it contains a large dining table with benches. There is a carpet marking where the aisle would be, and what appears to be the original wood floor where the pews would have been. The rest is still there in all its glory, including a soaring wood ceiling with exposed rafters. That's a large living area. It's the middle of summer so we were able to open the windows and enjoy the fresh air. We slept really well. Jo left phenomenal locally produced soap for us in the bathroom. The kitchen is totally functional and we were able to cook pasta, sauce and vegetables. This was a great stop over for us between Tongariro National Park and the Waitomo caves.

  • Lovely place for a night! Sparkling clean!

    Priyanka2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying at Saint Mary’s Church. It is fabulously renovated. Beautiful and spacious. Very clean and with all necessary equipment. We met Jo that added to the experience.

  • An immaculate and unique house! We were here only one night but loved our stay. Lovely little touches like fresh milk and nice soaps. Quiet, clean and beautiful. Thank you!

  • Sandra is an absolutely star. She was an above and beyond sort of host and took very good care of us. We found out our flights home were cancelled and she did everything she could to help us find solutions to get home, it was very kind of her. The room itself is comfortable, clean and warm with a very nice shower. The view from the farm is gorgeous and it wasn't difficult to find or drive to, it is only 10-15 minutes from the glowworm caves. We went to the Huhu cafe a short drive away where the food was great, and they were happy for us to use the wifi there. I highly recommend it!

If you are looking for a quiet place to stay with a panorama, you will find it here. Sandra herself was such a great host and gave us great tips for the area.

  • Annely’s guesthouse is great. It was a great location between the Tongariro crossing and Waitomo, which were the two activities we were doing in the area. Steve the sheep is a hoot and Annely and Damin were very kind and great hosts. It was a hot day so we had to use the supplied fan until it cooled down during the night. There was bread for toast, fruit, yogurt, coffee (French press), and cereal supplied which was great to start our day. My husband’s first comment on the spacious bathroom was “yay, a big sink”, as all of our previous stays had very tiny bathroom sinks and no space to set anything down. Little things make a difference. :) Thanks for everything!

    Laurel2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Clean, simple & recommended! We were warmly welcomed and integrated directly by both the family and the animals.

Lovely rural feel walk around and enjoy looking at the neighbours sheep and cows.
  • Carole's place was very clean and bright and much bigger than I expected, with lots of thoughtful extra touches in the bathroom. It is up a long driveway and very quiet. With parking adjacent to the unit.

  • A cozy, private space in a tranquil area. I enjoyed my time here.

  • Carole’s place is great! It was clean and close to te kuiti. The place is about 100m up the driveway. Very peaceful. Would definitely recommend.

  • Carole has gone the extra mile to make the bnb comfortable and she has provided some nice personal touches. There was plenty of space and I had a great night's sleep on the cosy bed. There was good lighting for reading and the whole place was spotless. Carole is a friendly and helpful host.

Clean cosy room in my gorgeous cedar cottage. Perfectly located to enjoy all local tourist activities and scenery. It is a small farm and animals do live on the property so some tolerance needed that I can’t control if the dogs bark at a possum, the cows are mooing or the horses are running around. It’s all part of the charm. Please enjoy the deck and million dollar view, so peaceful at anytime but especially in the evenings with only the stars above & crickets/cicadas/moreporks to be heard.
The guest room is a dedicated space with brand new bedding, linen and super comfy cluster puff mattress topper so that you can get a great nights sleep. My cat lives inside but has no access to the guest rooms (so please leave your door shut while you stay if you don’t want her snuggled up with you, although you are more than welcome to let her in if you want to), the dogs live outside and will only be free and running around when I am there. They are both friendly and enjoy cuddles if sometimes a little boisterous but there is no requirement to have any interaction with them. There are also cows, horses and chickens on the property. There is only one bathroom but it has good water pressure and plenty of hot water. There is a wide deck along 2 sides of the house, with the front deck having spectacular views of 5 mountains (on a clear day). It is incredibly peaceful at any time of day but especially in the evening so please enjoy your coffee or a glass of wine and soak it all in. There aren’t too many views like this. In late Autumn/Winter the log burner will be lit daily to keep the house warm and cosy. In the Spring I raise calves so you are more than welcome to help with feeding them.
Easy 15 minute drive to Waitomo, Otorohanga (10 minutes) or Te Kuiti means I am perfectly located for any of the areas tourist attractions, walks or local events (see info in your room for cheap booking sites which may be of use to you during your visit in Waitomo and also around the rest of NZ). If you are looking for things to do I am happy to share ideas for local attractions that you may or may not have already come across during your travels and research into the area. You will need your own transport to get to me and to travel around the area. There are great places to eat in Waitomo, Otorohanga and Te Kuiti so if you would like me to book somewhere (recommended as they do tend to get very busy during peak times and you won’t always be guaranteed a table by just turning up) I am more than happy to do so.
  • Great place, nice view, quiet. I liked everything!

    Yelena2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • At the top of a hill, superb view, especially in the evening at sunset, the lights are superb, very peaceful setting surrounded by animals, very kind and responsive host :)

  • Rachel’s description of “million dollar views” really does not do her property justice! We arrived at the golden hour and were immediately blown away by how beautiful the views were! Rachel is a fantastic host who gave us brilliant recommendations on where to eat and what to see, and even booked a table for us at dinner! The bed was comfy, the shower hot with good pressure, and there were some lovely little touches provided in the room! And to top it off - the cats were the most beautiful little pair we have came across in a long time! We would stay here again in a heartbeat!

    Harry2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful place and gracious host!

    Jai2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely stay, Rachel was very helpful and knowledgeable about the area. The animals were very friendly (especially the free range chickens). The pictures don’t do the stunning views justice, one night wasn’t enough!

    Zofia2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Everything we Wanted! Rachel was so warm and inviting. We loved everything about her place, especially all the animals :-) Breakfast was an extra bonus, as we were very close to the Waitomo glow worms & it was a fantastic value. Great conversation too

    Mary & Paul2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Brilliant air bnb with incredible views. Lovely farm atmosphere, we were made to feel so comfortable in Rachel’s home and really enjoyed our stay. House is about 10 minutes up a gravel road so be prepared for country roads but the views you’ll get on the way up will be so worth it. No noise or light pollution and we could have spent weeks here. Thanks so much for your hospitality. Hopefully see you in a few years.

    Jordan2020-02-19T00:00:00Z

And occasionally a dog. We are able to accomodate two couples travelling together if prepared to share bathroom. Second bedroom doesn’t have the view of the main room.

  • Where to start? Hospitality: awesome. Dave invited us in and he did an amazing job making us feel at home. Laurel checked up on us, and made the most delicious breakfast. There were all these small conversations that made us feel so welcome. House: the room where we stayed in was super clean, as was the bathroom. It was big enough for the three of us. The house has an enormous yard, where our 2 yr old son loved to run around. But the best part: location. It’s so peaceful, with an amazing view, and only 20 min away from the Waitomo caves. We wished we stayed an extra night here, and will definitely come back when we visit New Zealand again.

    Kim2020-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • Incredible is an understatement. Thanks Laurel & Dave for sharing your home & valuable experiences of the local area. Every suggestion was spot on or above. Any guests who would love to live like a local with great company, this is surely the place to be.

    Patricia2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • Laurel & Dave’s place has great view. The bed is very comfy, and the place is clean. They are also very helpful if you are asking them for any local knowledge. Recommend to everyone!

  • Would highly recommend staying at The Neuk, especially if you enjoy a good chat with amazing hosts. Although it is 30 mins from Waitomo Caves, it’s worth it for the view and hospitality. The cats were adorable and the bed was very comfortable. Thank you Laurel and Dave for making us feel at home!

    Melina2019-12-18T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic location for visiting the Waitomo caves. Offers a spectacular view and friendly kitty company. We loved staying here and wish we could have stayed longer. Thank you Laurel and Dave!

  • The best stay ever! Highly recommended. The view is stunning, and most importantly outstanding hospitality from Laurel and Dave! We were welcomed with hot tea and cookies after our Waitomo caves adventure! Laurel helped us to heat up our dinner. The bed was so comfortable, shower room was great and there were alot of thoughtful touches! (: Laurel even has great space in the fridge to store all our food and she gave us a Ice block to keep our cooling bag cold. You can't ask for a better host! The breakfast was great too, with hot coffee, hot toasts and pancakes, cereals and many jams for you to choose from! (: most importantly, Laurel spends time with us, shared with us local tips and stories. We really enjoyed our stay here!

    Hui2019-12-03T00:00:00Z
  • A place to be! Laurel&Dave are exceptional hosts in many respects. Breakfast and dinner are delicious, the rooms absolutely clean and cosy, the location extremely calm with a superb view. Everything you need to relax and be happy.

  • Excellent stay! The house looks smaller in the photographs but in reality it is spacious and has an excellent use of spaces. We were apprehensive about the fact that there was no stove in the house but Wendy has two electrical appliances for cooking. We couldn't ask for more, a calm space, surrounded by nature with all amenities, extremely clean and even toys for our baby. Thank you so much Wendy!

  • Tucked in the garden up on a ridge, this cottage has everything you need for a restful stay near Waitomo. Close to the town of Otorahanga, it was easy to nip down for dinner and come back to a lovely space in which to relax. There was beautiful fog in the morning if you're up early, and lots of beautiful cows grazing nearby. No wifi, but easy enough to get by without it for a short while.

  • This place was much better than I had expected. It is the most fantastic property with amazing views. We went to Waitomo Caves for the day then checked in at this property afterwards. We loved it so much we wanted to cancel our next night in Taupo just to stay. Cushla had the kitchen stocked with necessities (milk, eggs, bread, etc.), the rooms were spacious and sparkling clean. Amazing views. Garden was gorgeous. Sky TV with loads of channels (kids got up to watch morning cartoons while we slept in!). I highly recommend this place. One of the best Air BnB's we ever stayed in.

    Jordan2020-01-17T00:00:00Z

  • Great house, big and comfortable. Cushla provides some great little extras that we all enjoyed (farm eggs, milk, delicious muesli and honey for breakfast). There is no phone reception or wifi which we all kind of enjoyed being away from it all. Would have loved to stay longer and when it’s warmer to enjoy the garden and pool.

  • Ann and her husband has a very nice farm with various animals - ostrich, emu, donkey, horses, lama, alpacas, sheep, goat, a pig, dogs and a lot of lovely kittens. We and our kids enjoyed it so much. It was easy to visit the animals. Breakfast is great. Ann is genuinely hospital and helpful with local tips. We stayed in the bungalow, which may be a bit dated, but everything works. Good ambiance. Can only recommend.

    Steffen2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • As others have said, this place is a must if you are an animal lover. We were in the area to visit the glow worm caves, but Ann’s place could have been the destination. We visited for our two nights with our 3 kids (ages 4, 8, and 10) and they would have moved in if they could. Ann is a superb host and makes a delicious breakfast. She also had great local recommendations. The cottage is quaint, very clean and comfortable. There is a nice porch with a grill, and the kitchen has everything you need to cook in. We definitely enjoyed this unique farm stay and highly recommend!

    Francesca2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Ann's home is very welcoming and comfortable, and if I have a chance to come again, I will choose here again.

    Adam2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • If you enjoy animals then this is the place to stay! We were heading to the glow worm caves and needed a place nearby and Ann’s farm was a great fit for our family. The accommodations are comfortable and she had a fan to help cool the bungalow off. She gave us a farm tour so my kids got to get up close with all of the animals she has from ostriches to ponies. There were kittens and some dogs as well so my kids were very happy! Plus it is only a few minutes to the glow worm caves which was easy for us the next morning.

    Alden2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had an absolutely brilliant stay with a toddler and two teenagers. Our toddler loved the animal tour, we could barely peel her away. Ann and her husband are super hosts who give a fantastic breakfast. Five minutes down the road from the caves and restaurants, Roselands BBQ was great and Ann herself owns a local cave which we didn’t have time to visit but we will if we get to come again. A super place, 100% recommended. The cats, dogs, ponies etc are super and we were sad to leave ! Perfect Accommodation with a great relaxed feel :)

    Rebecca2020-02-17T00:00:00Z

  • Rock Retreat is perfect. We stayed here between the Waitomo Caves and heading to Hobbiton. The location was perfect - just off the beaten path but close enough for a jaunt to town for dinner. The view is stunning. We thoroughly enjoyed catching the sunrise over the hills and devouring Biddy’s homemade yogurt and apricots. 10/10 would stay again.

  • One of the nicest BnB‘s we stayed in during our 10 week journey through whole NZ. Clean, tranquil, wonderful terrace with a hammock we loved, a bath almost in the bush, best tap water we ever tasted, a sweet possum said hello at night - and soooo comfy beds we slept very well in.... highly recommend!

    Martina2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Biddy and family were amazing!!! Not a single problem... If you want peace and relaxation this is it! I cannot remember have stayed at such a place with such OUTSTANDING & truly BEAUTIFUL views; waking up each morning to a view like that was awesome!!! If you want peace and relaxation you must check out Biddys place!!!... oh btw that have the most cutest dogs, whom are super friendly; we were lucky enough to have one of their dogs visit the cottage [of which is located in a nice private part of there property] several times which was cool... 10 out 10!!!

  • Extraordinary location, a place to remember. Lovingly assorted and presented breakfast. No Wifi, but this is a place where you forget the world anyway. As it’s solar powered expect not using hair-dryers.

    Christian2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Very charming farm cottage beautifully decorated in a dreamlike landscape. You feel right there right away. Biddy's welcome is very warm and she has lots of little touches in store for us. The bedding is very good. Here no wifi (we limit energy consumption) but real coffee beans!

    Olivier2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Rock Retreat was so much more than expected. We had the best sleep since we left home and the energy was quite simply magical. I wish we had had at least another day and night. Step outside your box and have a wonderful experience including the loveliest puppy.

  • Sally’s place is an ideal location to stay at when visiting the caves. It had everything we needed. Sally was very welcoming and offered us eggs for breakfast too!

    Steve2020-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • Sally is a very gracious host and good communicator. Enjoyed meeting her, the family and animals. Quiet space, very relaxing.

    Jeff2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • The studio is located at a beautiful farm (which was the main reason why we chose it). It is also close to Waitomo Caves, so it can be an option for those who visit the caves (including us :D). Sally and Chris were very welcoming and had perfectly prepared the studio for our stay. The studio is clean with enough room for one or two people and it was exactly the same as described. We were also offered a breakfast, which we would love to take if we did not have to leave too early :))

    Morgan2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • This was a very nice, quiet farm stay close to the Waitomo Caves. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was large, and the living room area was very nicely situated. We really enjoyed our stay.

  • A picturesque location in a clean and comfortable semi detached unit. Sally provides extra touches that are thoughtful. The animals are a bonus.

  • My friends and I were actually upgraded to the Hobbit House (also available on Airbnb) on arrival. The person who checked us in was friendly, helpful and informative, and the house itself was tidy, clean and well-equipped. It was a very unique stay (themed after The Shire from Lord of The Rings) and the whole park was very interesting (with its Vietnam carrier plane, old ferry and 1918 train carriage). I'd reccomend it for anyone looking for something a bit different!

    Joe2020-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • Really different place to stay

    Gareth2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • This place is just fun. Where else can you stay in a plane. Just some heads up: the plane moves a bit when there are other people in the front and there is a slight mechanical smell. It did not bother me and I had a great time but it could bother some people.

    Amie2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great night on the plane. The kids loved it! Ideal for one or two nights with the family. We also recommend the Huhu café, a restaurant located 2 minutes by car and making very good dishes.

    Élodie2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our unique stay in the Tail of the plane. It was very clean and the beds were very comfy. It had everything you needed and we were amazed at the fact we were in an actual plane. The host was very helpful with our late check in, and she was full of tips for us in regards to driving shortcuts and places to stop to eat. We would definitely recommend this stay to our friends as it was great value for the money we paid.

  • Lynda's Willow Cottage is truly amazing, exceptionally clean and with nice stylish furniture. Real flowers in vases and nice paintings and ornaments in various places. Lynda even left some nibbles for us in fridge, delicious. The cottage was very handy to the Waitomo Caves, our reason for venturing up that way, and even closer to Otorohanga. No problems at all in finding the cottage which was in a lovely rural area and very quiet with double glazed windows. Thanks Lynda for a perfect two night stay from us four travellers.

Our Bristol Freighter Plane is one of the last allied planes that was flown in Vietnam. This plane is split into two motels: the cockpit and the rear tail. It is truly a one-off unique piece and there is no other such plane accommodation existing in the world.
It is for the true adventurer. One bed is located up in the cockpit and you must be fit to climb the steep ladder to access the controls and that sleeping area. As such the upstairs is more suited for fit children. Children MUST BE older than 8 years of age. This sleeping area can also be hot in the summer months. The upstairs bed is unsuitable for younger children or people with physical limitations. There is also a double bed on the lower level. There is an ensuite bathroom with shower and toilet, as well as a living/eating area with kitchenette. The kitchenette features a gas hob, microwave and refrigerator for light meals.
900m from glowwarm caves and local village

  • A special motel with really intersecting history. People who love the history of WW1, WW2 will deginetely find a lot of interesting assets in the check-in office and inter the motel. The host gave us great advice on the night activity and restaurant.

    Kyrene2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • What a special place !! Blown away by the history this space offered and given the age and condition I was equally impressed with the cleanliness. Thanks for an unforgettable stay!

    Leanne2019-11-27T00:00:00Z
  • This is s fun place to stay. It's a little inconvenient to get there by foot if you have luggage, but still worth it. The nearby Cafe at the adventure company was great, as promised by our hosts, and the people there were very helpful and nice.

    E & E2019-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • The staff at Woodlyn Park were good communicators and gave us instructions for check-in. There was always someone to contact 24/7z It was winter but there’s an air conditioner/heater in the unit plus individual/single/twin-sized heating blankets on the bed. We thought it was one queen sized heating blanket so my mum kept complaining it was cold under the sheets and I was boiling hot! The kitchen is very functional. The bathroom had a nice hot shower. The cockpit is amazing and I’d have slept in there except I think it might be hard for me to climb down quickly and easily in times of desperation, so I stayed downstairs. Great place to stay at while exploring Waitomo!

  • Martyn's place was very interesting, with its history and setting. The house was comfortable, and the central kitchen, dining and lounge areas were ideal for interaction with other guests. Martin was excellent at conveying local history and advice, plus encouraging picking his fruit. Strongly recommended!

  • We had a lovely stay and Martyn and Sylvia went out of their way to make us feel very much at home. The location was perfect for an overnight stay before embarking on the Timber Trail. We were especially grateful that Martyn let us leave our vehicle there for the weekend while we rode the track and we were even gifted some beautiful plum jam made from their delicious organic orchard. Thanks guys!!

Annette was such a great host too, the complimentary breakfast was delicious and her communication was super quick and helpful! Annette left us be — self check-in was simple — and the fresh continental breakfast was a beautiful piece of hospitality. The calves over the fence kept us company. A lovely little place to unwind.

Everywhere you go you Wil see some amazing creatures. In Addison, She makes fresh breakfast every morning and I’ll get to come together at the same breakfast table we get a chance to meet new people and mingle in him and learn something new for the day and I loved her saying when every you Yawn it’s just a silent scream for coffee I love it I wish every time I go back into the glowworm caves I will definitely stay at the big bird bed-and-breakfast. Awesome.I generally don’t write a review but this was just amazing we got a chance to walk with the ostrich and pet all the animals

    Pauline2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • We came here for the glow worm caves but ended up getting so much more. We loved staying here and experience all the animals on the farm. The kittens made us feel at home as we were missing our own.

  • It's only eight minutes away from the firefly hole. It's a normal farmhouse. It's a real farmhouse. It's run by an old couple. It costs five yuan for breakfast. Come and play, the next day the owner will bring alpacas, cows, sheep, ostriches, and children especially like it. They do n’t have to spend money to other alpaca farms. This is definitely a selling point.

  • What a getaway spot :-), best views in the North Island. Rachel and Angus's son hosted us and he is very affable and nailed his hosting responsibilities. He recommended a drive to the Marokopa falls and beach, which are spectacular. The farm has much to offer including a pond, glow worm cave, and walks. Our dogs were also welcomed and sun downers around the fire is a good way to close the day. Thanks again for sharing your piece of paradise.

'The Loft at Te Kumi Tirohanga' is located close to Waitomo and has amazing views of the King Country farmland. It is a large, tranquil, self-contained accommodation and provides a working farm experience amongst scenic, tranquil farms and countryside - only two minutes from Te Kuiti and twelve minutes from the Waitomo Caves.
It is a very private, self-contained two level unit only 100 metres from our homestead. Downstairs has lounge/dining/kitchen and combined laundry/bathroom areas. Upstairs is a large bedroom with two double beds. Downstairs a foldaway bed is available on request.
The world renowned Waitomo Caves are right on our doorstep – only a 12 minute drive away. Here you can visit the Glowworm Cave, abseil into the Lost World, experience Blackwater Rafting, amongst many other activities. Te Kuiti, the local village, is only a 2 minute drive away. It has a well stocked supermarket and a variety of cafes and eateries. Every year in April, Te Kuiti hosts the “running of the sheep” and national shearing championships. The wider King Country area is famous for its Maori heritage, sheep and cattle farming, and striking limestone landforms amongst rolling hills and native forests. Attractions include “The Hobbit” set tours (Hairy Feet), hiking, fishing, and mountain biking. We are very centrally located between the main North Island tourist destinations:1 hour from Hamilton; 1.5 hours from Taupo and Tongariro National Park; 2 hours from New Plymouth and Rotorua; and 2.5 hours from Auckland International Airport.
  • The Loft was beautiful. Karen and Philip could not have been more helpful and the welcome brownies were a real treat. Would definately recommend.

  • Everything was very good, the very nice place in the middle of the field, just what we needed to rest and relax. Karen very kind in receiving us and helping in everything we needed.

  • Karen and Philip’s place was fantastic! A perfect place for a tranquil stay with lots of local character. Would highly recommend!

  • The Loft is a delightful little nook surrounded by expansive farm land filled with sheep and cattle. A little walk up a small hill next to the property will give an amazing 360 degree view of the surrounding area. The Loft's location is conveniently located close to the town center of Te Kuiti without sacrificing any of the serene farmland experience. On top if it all, the host, Karen and Phillip, are generous and informative. Their hospitality is unmatched and I would recommend this place to family, friends, and anyone else who I know.

    Matthew2019-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • Very idyllic location, will need a car and good direction to get to it. The stay is a superb experience in the country with a good farm land surrounding for hiking amongst sheep and cows!

Our home is nicely situated just off a quiet rural road with awesome views of the hills around us. The guest room is a private room outside of the main house, with a bathroom wash house and small camp style kitchen area only a few meters away. We are a 10-15 minute drive to Marokopa Beach to the west and similar distance to Marokopa Falls, PiriPiri Caves, and The Natural Bridge to the east.
This is a warm and welcoming family home. With three young children, all the chaos and wonderfulness that happens in a young family will be here! My husband and I are from GB and the US, but have been kiwis for some years. Our property was the home of the 1911 Marokopa Dairy Factory, which made butter and sent it up the river to many places all around New Zealand. We enjoy maintaining our home and property and look forward to welcoming you here. Our nearest place to get grocery supplies and fuel is in Otorohanga, an hour away from our house. So please be prepared for that! Basic camp style kitchen available for guest use, including 2 burner cooker, small fridge, sink, cutlery, plates, bowls, cooking pots, etc.
To get here: Drive past Waitomo, about 45 minutes to our house. On the way you will pass the Natural Bridge, the Piripiri Caves, and the Marokopa Falls. When you get to Te Anga (a blink and you miss it sort of place!), follow the road left towards the beach. We will be the first house by the road you come to on the left side of the road. Signposted 'Awamarino'.
  • Everything was perfect in what we expected from this place: proximity to nature, a simple life on the farm with the comfort of a large room and warm amenities. With the added bonus of a family welcome like only kiwis can do. Legendary.

  • Joanna and family were so welcoming. They have a piece of paradise in the mountains. It was a cool, stylish and different place to stay and we hope to stay again. There are lots of cool things to do in the area, we stayed 4 days and had places to go everyday. Great place for families! Thanks for the memories!

    Kate2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • The place was cosy, homely and very stylish. We loved the shared spaces and Joanna's family hospitality. The farm animals and milking goats were a hit with the children. An evening walk on the beach was beautiful.

  • We had the most wonderful stay in a airbnb we have ever had before. The guestroom and the bathroom are just perfect and also Joanna and her family is so lovely! We really enjoyed it. Thanks for everything again!

    Selina2019-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • Joanna and Simeon are great hosts. They've got a great farm life. Chickens, friendly dog (who will go on a hike with you), goats, and beautiful landscapes. This is a great place for low maintenance travelers. Warning: No mobile phone coverage (though there is wifi), and BYOCoffee. Thanks, Joanna and Simeon! I hope to see you again.

Hi We have two self contained cottages. The views are amazing and cottage cosy and comfortable, the price is for a double. Extras are $20.00 per person. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, families (with kids), and furry friends (pets). We are a 15/20ming drive past the Waitomo Village so it pays to eat before you come up or bring supplies with you. There is a two element cook top and a small microwave. Your welcome to come and share our little piece of paradise.
The cottage is one room, there is a queen bed down with a small loft above it that has two single mattresses in it. Cosy but cute. Each cottage has is own bathroom about 8 steps from the cottage. It is set within a bush setting on top of a hill where you can see out over the whole central north Island. You even have your own glowworm grotto only meters from your door. Enjoy the starry starry nights and peace and quite of the country.
    Amazing Views/Glowworms/Native Bush/Caves/Black Water Rafting.
  • We had a great stay at Rach and Angus’s cottage ! It was a very cute cottage with everything you need - the bathroom is just a few steps away from the cottage itself. The views over the farmland from the cottage were amazing and walking around the farm itself was lovely - the little pond was great for a morning stroll. Angus showed us to the glow worms and even gave us some facts about them and photography tips ! The breakfast provided was fantastic as well, and the location is just a short drive from the Waitomo glow worm caves. I would highly recommend to anyone travelling to Waitomo !

    Alexandra2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Te Tiro was the most amazing stay of our vacation! Views and hospitality were unbeatable. We wish we would have stayed longer than just one night!

    Nathaniel2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Te Tiro is a very special place with very welcoming hosts. We loved our night here and are determined to visit again and spend more time at this delightful cabin with gorgeous views and a comfortable interior with everything you need and then some. A little path leads down to the glowworm grotto where you can sit and enjoy a magical experience on your own.

    Pamela2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had the best of times at Rachel and Angus’s place in Waitomo. The cottage was every thing we needed and beyond. The view was amazing, one of the best sunrises. Thank you both very much!

    Larisa2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • If I said this was a just a hidden gem tucked away in the country, I would lie. It's a magical place with a beautiful little cottage that you could only find in the movies! I spent a night with my wife and two lil kids and this was an experience they will remember. With all amenities, a spectacular view and only a little drive to the main visitor center, this is a must stay. And the magic starts at nightfall, where a little path from the cottage leads to a grotto full of glowworms! We absolutely loved our stay and the hosts are fantastic.

    Neil2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful cabin, cozy and with a stunning view out to the east, surrounded by native Bush, kowhai, ferns. Glow-worms down a path right near the cabin (after dusk). Great friendly hosts - very knowledgable on the area, the caves, and history.

    Stephen2020-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful stay! We highly recommend this accommodation. The cabins are beautiful, the view is gorgeous, and the rural setting allows you to really relax. There's even a secret glowworm cave on the property one an easily access. Rachel and Angus are both very nice and hospitable. Thank you R & A for a great experience, and we hope to see you both again :)

    Richard2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed 1 night at this b&b , but could've stayed longer. The location feels a little far away from the activities of Waitomo but what a gem! The glow worms a short stroll from our cottage were fabulous and the view over the valley was that of postcards . The cottage was quaint with bathroom outside the building, but the hospitality was amazing, breakfast plentiful and beds comfy.

  • Such a fantastic family stay! Girls loved the animals (Henry the horse and Rocco the dog especially), the pool (who wouldn’t), the in ground trampoline (hours of fun), the tennis court with ride on toys, and of course just the opportunity to be free range. Us adults loved the view, the hot tub (glorious), the layout of the accomodation, and the lovely hosts. Highly recommend!

    Elise2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • We wanted a farm stay experience with our kids aged 5 and 7 and couldn’t have picked a better spot. Shania and her kids were so welcoming and made us feel right at home. It is a little slice of heaven (with a pony)!

    Jenny2020-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • This is by far the best stay we have ever had in an AirBnB. The listing doesn't do justice to the wonderland it proved for our four boys and the space it provided for a tired Mum and Dad to recover. The boys had a ball swimming in the pool, rolling down hills on karts, playing in the forts, going down the zipline, and interacting with Roco the uber friendly Foxie dog, the pony or chooks. As city folk it was cool to wake up and look down the valley as the cloud clears. I highly recommend this listing for families of energetic children or burnt out parents (maybe both) looking for a break!

    Karl2020-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Definitely 5 STARS for us. The whole family were very welcoming and friendly. Our children enjoyed their time there. An amazing view and vibes there. We definitely recommend this place. Thank You.

  • We would highly recommend Valley Views to other families. Shaina, Tom and their children were amazing hosts despite their busy lives. There is so much to do at the farm and the surrounding area. Our townie kids will never forget spending time with the animals and the stunning views. Comfy beds and great value for money. We will be back for sure :-).

    Melissa2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place with stunning views across the rolling hills. We loved playing in the pool and relaxing in the spa. A real treat for our international visitors. I'd highly recommend!!
