  • Great English BnB. Prompt communication for the booking, friendly welcome when I got there, lovely room, spotless, and the bathroom was superb. Breakfast was lovely, Ken said I could have any variation on breakfast, but the full English was what I wanted anyway, fresh fruit and a variety of cereals, fresh coffee, everything I needed in a homely atmosphere. In fact, everything I would hope for at an English BnB. Thank you Ken and Sylvia!

  • Ken & Sylvia were great hosts. The accommodation was very clean. Great value for money.

  • A home from home. Very relaxing and Ken's food was excellent. A true lovely couple who couldn't of done any more to make you feel at home.

  • Ken and Sylvia made us welcome from the moment we arrived. It felt like a home from home. We had a great breakfast. The beds were large and comfortable. Ken offered and gave us help with getting to the nearby wedding we attended. We also shared a drink and some life stories. Lovely!

  • It is always a delight to stay at Lilycroft, the welcome is warm, the hosts are a delight and it is alway spotlessly clean.

    Phil2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • This is a real gem of an Air B&B with Ken & Sylvia the most amazing hosts. The accommodation is all ‘upstairs’ comprising of 2 double bedrooms, with one room having the en suite in it (which is shared by both rooms). The beds are super comfy, everywhere scrupulously clean with the bathroom having a great shower (no bath). Lots of thoughtful touches: tea & coffee making facilities in the space between the 2 bedrooms; bottles of water; toiletries in the bathroom should one forget anything of one’s own. Evening meals were an option for a very nominal additional charge. The food was home cooked by Ken and on both evenings they ate with us, making us feel like we were part of the family. Amazing! This is one of the best AirB&B ever....one not to be missed!

  • The cottage was absolutely beautiful; the decor was stunning, the cleanliness was exceptional and the added little touches were the icing on the cake. The NowTV, the welcoming hamper, the wine and the robes are just some of the extras that really made the difference. We didn’t manage to grab food before arriving so the pasta in the cupboard was a welcome surprise. Communication was excellent throughout and we had a fantastic weekend thanks to all of the above.

  • If anyone was unsure or thinking about booking Clematis Cottage, do it! You won’t be disappointed. Annette has thought about everything when it comes to her guests living comfortably and finding their surroundings. All the finishing touches were so much appreciated, and for a small space it didn’t feel small at all! I can’t wait to book this little cottage in the future. Annette’s hosting was second to none and she made sure that our stay was the best it could be. Thank you! As for the area, the village is part of rolling hills of Derbyshire, it’s beautiful!

    Jade2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful cottage with thoughtful, attentive hosts who made our weekend away feel very special and memorable.

    William2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing little gem Annette’s cottage is, quite literally perfect. We’ve made some great memories at clematis cottage.

    Oscar2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • An absolute gem of a place!!! Annette and Dean were amazing hosts - there were so many thoughtful touches which really made us feel pampered.. The location is brilliant with lovely walks on the doorstep. The house itself was immaculately clean.. And there were treats and blankets for Penny the dog.... I can honestly say it was my best Airbnb experience ever!!

    Vicky2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • The whole experience was amazing. We loved the cottage the moment we walked in. Some lovely little touches and sparklingly clean. Nothing is too much trouble and we would return in a heartbeat.

    Lyn2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed for two nights for my partners birthday weekend. It was idyllic from start to end. Annette and Dean were perfect hosts and offered lots of support to make our stay memorable, including the option for an early check in and a late check out, which we really appreciated. The quality of the cottage and it’s facilities were excellent and we wanted for nothing. Two comfy sofas to enjoy whilst watching the large flat screen TV each night, both with soft throws and cushions on to snuggle down into. Now TV, Netflix etc gave us lots of movie choice as well as freesat TV. Wireless was great. The kitchen was very well equipped and we were given a bottle of wine, snacks, bread, milk etc as well as doggie snacks for our pooch Sammy. The bathroom and shower was amazing, really modern and well fitted out. The bedrooms were great. We only used the main bedroom but loved the second twin room which was plenty spacious enough for a family of four. The bed is really comfy and a cute jack and jill bathroom for both rooms to use was great and really handy. We didn’t really use the outside space much but it looked nice and would be great to enjoy in the summer months. A detailed guest guide is provided to read on both the accommodation and things to do nearby In the area. We would thoroughly recommend this place to anyone looking fir a break in the Peak district!

    Debbie2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed staying in Annette’s cottage over Christmas 2019 - it was the perfect cosy, well acquainted spot with lovely homey and festive touches that made the holiday all the more comfortable. The cottage is extremely well maintained and spotless upon arrival. The fire adds a cosy way to quickly warm up after a walk in the peaks, and everything has been carefully considered and decorated. We particularly appreciated the well stocked kitchen which offers some staple ingredients to cook yourself breakfast or a couple of simple meals if you find yourself stuck without time to buy your own groceries. As we were without a car, this was very helpful. I’m hoping we can visit again!

There is cutlery and crockery along with pots and pans. The settee in the lounge converts easily into an extra double bed with the bedding if required. There is a television, DVD and free wi-fi for your use. The double bedroom leads off the lounge and on into the ensuite bathroom where there is a spacious shower. All bedding, towels, crockery and cutlery are supplied, and there is tea/coffee and milk to get you started. There is also private, off-the-road car parking and outdoor seating area.

  • We had a very relaxing stay at Ford Farm. Sarah was a great host and the location is beautiful. If you want to spend a few days escaping from reality this is the perfect location to do so. Lots to do nearby and beautiful walks on your doorstep.

  • We had a very comfortable and pleasant stay. The location, with a nice outlook over the Ogston Reservoir, and the accommodation, turned out to be more or less perfect for a couple looking for a quiet break. The approach road is as described - narrow with numerous potholes - but the locals seem to be friendly and cautious. There is plenty of parking available when you get there. Two people will find the place very comfortable - three would need to be good friends, since access to the toilet and shower room is via the bedroom. Sarah was very friendly and efficient.

The Dairy is situated within half an hour’s drive from the Peak District National Park where you will find pretty villages and stunning countryside.. All on the ground floor. Living/dining room: With Freesat TV. Kitchen: With electric cooker, microwave and fridge/freezer. Bedroom: With super kingsize bed. Wet room: With shower, shower seat, grab rails, toilet and heated towel rail.. Electric central heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi included. Welcome pack and doggy extras. Enclosed garden with sitting-out area and garden furniture. Private parking for 1 car. Wheelchair access. No smoking or e-cigarettes.. Welcome to The Dairy, a wonderful haven to relax in. Usefully all on one level this cottage, which is an annex to the owner’s home, offers comfortable accommodation in fabulous surroundings. The living room with picture windows looks out onto the fields afar and if you’re lucky you will get to see the resident kestrels which nest here to have their young. The Dairy is also very well-equipped for pet owners, with an enclosed garden, doggy extras and even an on-site doggy day care and grooming facility (by arrangement with owner). Surrounded by beautiful countryside, the village of Brackenfield is close to Ogston Reservoir, a haven for birdwatchers and home of the Ogston Bird Club. Built by damming the River Amber in 1958, the reservoir is surrounded by woodlands, fields, scrub and grasslands, and even an orchard! When the water level drops in late summer and autumn, the reservoir attracts large numbers of wading birds but, in winter, Ogston is the best site nationally to watch rare species of gull - 14 different species have been recorded here. A chapel of ease was built at Brackenfield around 1500 but now lies in ruins, hidden by trees. A pilgrimage from the village to this chapel is held each year on Trinity Sunday. A new church was built in 1857 and is the site of one of Brackenfield’s well dressings. The Peak District National Park and Derbyshire is of course well-known for its natural beauty, and no visit here is complete without spending some time in the great outdoors. For walkers of all abilities, there are plenty of trails and walking routes to explore directly from your doorstep, while those who prefer to cycle are also in for a treat. Why not enjoy a great day out with a visit to the stunning Chatsworth House located near Bakewell in the Peak District. Chatsworth is steeped in history and this beautiful house and gardens are open to the public to explore. Nearby Matlock is a popular Peak District town, together with its neighbour, Matlock Bath, which have been attracting visitors to the area since the late 17th century when the original spa was developed. Set in the stunning wooded gorge of the River Derwent, Matlocks offer a range of shops, pubs and restaurants to enjoy, as well as a host of attractions including Gulliver’s Kingdom and the Peak District Mining Museum. Magnificent views down the gorge can be enjoyed from the cable car which takes visitors up to the Heights of Abraham – a great place for all the family with its showcaves, nature trail, water gardens and owl maze. South of the town is the start of the High Peak Cycle Trail, whilst a short drive away is the National Tramway Museum at Crich. To the north is the market town of Bakewell and the famous Haddon Hall. The Dairy really is in the ideal location to enjoy all this wonderful area has to offer all year round. Shop 4 miles, pub and restaurant ¾ mile. Free WiFi

The first floor compromises of a double bedroom and a twin bedroom and wet room and for your enjoyment the Dairy has Freeview TV and Wi-fi. Grounds include a large playpark with playhouse, designated BBQ area, a floodlit sports area and a bespoke enclosed dog walking area along the banks of the River Amber, where the adjacent sluice gates and weir will be seen that served to provide water power to the neighbouring Cotton Mill circa 1790. • Great hospitality. Beautiful property, would definitely come back again for a longer stay. Our children loved the animals.

    Andrew2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • The Dairy is a lovely, clean and cosy cottage, perfect for our birthday celebration. We found the place easily and only wished the weather could have been better so that we could have explored the surrounds a bit. We would not hesitate to recommend the whole site to anyone who wants a peaceful and pleasant break (especially if you have children; we didn't, but wished we had some with us as the farm, playground and animals looked very exciting)

    Gill2019-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay in the Dairy. Highly recommend.

    Lauren2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great facilities for a young family. Nice and clean with all you need for a weekend away. Nice private garden and great to see the animals in the paddock also

    Lucy2019-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic cosy cottage exactly as described. A great place for a relaxing stay - the grounds and farm are perfectly suited for younger children. Would stay again.

    Alex2019-05-09T00:00:00Z
  • The house is very clean and has all the amenities you would expect including washing machine and a dishwasher. It is in a fantastic location on a farm, which the kids loved visiting the animals. It has a really good sized play area with swings and a playhouse. It was ideally situated close to Matlock which is what we needed for visiting Heights of Abraham and Gullivers Kingdom. The check in was nice and simple with keys left in the property and a nice touch of an complimentary BBQ box as the flying Scotsman was going past. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and may be back in future.

    David2019-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • A very beautiful and cosy cottage that was sparkling clean. Such lovely facilities for the children - even our older children loved the park and the farm tour with Vic. What a lovely friendly man. A few fantastic days, definitely coming back x

  • The wine cellar of the farmhouse we stayed in had been very stylishly renovated to suit accomodation purposes. It was very chic, homely and cosy. The mattresses and pillows on the beds were comfortable and we enjoyed the amenities of the sports pitch and BBQ area. There was ample parking on site. Communication with Rachel prior to our stay was efficient and very welcoming.

  • This farm conversion is exceptionally stylish and has lots to offer families. The wildlife is a lovely added extra and Vic hosts a fantastic feed the animals visit which was thoroughly enjoyed by children and adults. The play park is nicely kitted out and the dads enjoyed the floodlit sports area. Within the accommodation there is everything you need for a lovely stay. We visited with family, six adults and four children, and there was plenty of space for all of us. The accommodation is within 15 minutes of Matlock which was a lovely day out, we also visited Bakewell which was around 30 minutes away. We will definitely return.

  • Photos do not do this place justice at all, the cabins are so cosy and unique and look absolutely lovely at night with the fairy lights all lit up. Highly recommend booking the hot tub as it’s a great experience. Huge lit up hot tub in a private cabin, big enough for at least 4 people. Can also connect your phone via Bluetooth to play music which is great. Only about half an hour drive away from Matlock and several little pubs and shops nearby as well. Would love to stay again but for a long weekend, one night was certainly not enough to make the most of this place!

  • Such a lovely, clean lodge in great surroundings. Great facilities too. The boys loved cycling around the campsite and playing in the park and the hot tub was a nice bonus. Oak lodge is pet friendly and was £3 extra per dog paid on site. Highly recommend, we will be back x

  • A brilliant find and perfect for a different night away. The kids wanted to camp, I didn’t really want to so this was an brilliant compromise with a mattress and our own toilet and shower. The lodges are by the entrance to the campsite but not overlooked or noisy. Easy to transfer bags from the car too. Our lodge was pet friendly and the enclosed veranda was brilliant. The kitchenette had plentiful tea and coffee supplies, a fridge, microwave/oven - I didn’t need to use, sink with washing up essentials, crockery and cutlery and cooking pots and utensils. Perfect for a simple meal. Kicking myself that I didn’t take marshmallows for the fire pit. We also didn’t use the hot tub so can’t comment on it other than it looked great and simple to book and use from the info given. The play park at the bottom of the camping field was a massive hit with the children who were still playing at 9:30pm! The bedding was left for the sofa bed so we could use the room before bedtime. It was very easy to set up on my own and the double bed was cosy and bedding was clean and plenty of it. Nice big pillows too. Several plugs had usb charger sockets, helpful. We had a great stay and would recommend Mark’s lodges. Thanks for having us.

The west wing was converted from an old wood shed in 2014 into an ensuite bedroom and office room at the same time a wonderful new kitchen diner was added to the historic lodge. Overlooking the surrounding fields the bedroom opens onto a terrace.
Holly Cottage is an original 1870s gate House build for Ogston Hall but never commissioned and put into use so today it sits by what was to become a driveway to the hall and instead now gives access to the footpaths and countryside around - good local walking with reservoir views and country pubs to visit.
Brackenfield is a beautiful country village and Matlock and The Paek District are on our doorstep. Chatsworth House is about 20 minutes drive away.

  • The perfect get away. This property has been finished to such a high standard, the beds and sofa are super comfy and it is very cosy. The hot tub is always a lovely bonus!

  • A little difficult to find but this property is BEAUTIFUL. It's very homely and very warm - don't bring thick pyjamas! The hot tub is a dream, makes for a wonderful girls weekend. The property is based on a farm so bare that in mind, the cows were a little noisy but not too much of a disruption. Sam was a lovely host and helped us with all we needed! Our visit was during storm Dennis and there was some flooding locally, she helped us find a route that would be clear. Overall fantastic stay, would definitely return!

Heated floors throughout, huge comfy sofa, thick feather duvets & cozy beds you don’t want to get out of! The hot tub was the icing on the cake. Can not recommend enough. We will definitely be booking again in the future

  • We celebrated our friend’s 30th Birthday here and it was a great space to hold it. The whole place is very stylish, modern and clean and we had everything we needed in the cottage. We wanted to go on a walk one day and there was a book on local walks provided in the cottage which we found to be very useful. It was easy to book and the host was incredibly helpful and always available to talk to. Everyone loved it and we would definitely recommend going back again!

  • Our large family group stayed in the South Wing and Old Wine Cellar for a long weekend and had a fantastic time. The on-site play park is brilliant, especially the play house! Our standout experience from our stay was feeding the farm animals with Farmer Vic and collecting chicken eggs (which we got to keep - delicious). The animals were very happy to be around the children and we even got to feed Charlotte the pig. The properties were clean, well equipped and nicely decorated. A word of caution to guests staying in the old wine cellar: low ceilings! We enjoyed a trip out on the Midland Railway, and a short drive to Bakewell to collect some tarts. Lots to see and do, fantastic hosts, I would really recommend this property and we hope to come back in the future.

  • We had a fantastic time at Oakerthorpe Manor, celebrating our friend's upcoming nuptials. The house is superbly equipped with everything you could want for a large party, from tumblers and champagne flutes to baking trays, large pans and a spice rack, bedlinen and towels. The house is huge with fabulous original features. All the rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. We particularly loved the grand dining room and the real fires in the living room and dining room on a grey winter weekend. Definitely one to come back to.

  • If you’re looking for a house with grandeur and space in a secluded area but with easy access to local amenities, then Oakerthorpe is just for you. Spotlessly clean, very comfortable beds, well stocked kitchen and plenty of bathrooms. A lovely welcome pack was gratefully received. Very good value for money. We would love to book again in the future.

  • We had a great 2 night stay at Oakerthorpe Manor, the pictures don't do it justice, it's huge! Communication with the owner was super fast and very informative and the house was laid out with linen, towels and even a couple of bottles of wine. Location wise it is near a couple of nice pubs and plenty of fields around for exploring. Thoroughly recommend for families and for party groups!

    Phil2019-05-12T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely time at Oakerthorpe Manor. From the outset Diane was super helpful, making suggestions of what to do in the local area and supporting with requests such as changing check out, even bringing new cue tips for the group to play pool! Very kind and accommodating. The manor itself was huge, traditional and lots of space for us all to explore. We went on a lovely walk in the countryside and had a great time clay pigeon shooting with a former Olympian which Diane helped arrange. Great weekend to celebrate my 30th!

  • Great place for large group occasions! We visited for my 30th birthday celebrations and the communal area made our stay super sociable, the long table making it easy for us to all eat and drink together comfortably. The property is like a maze and so much bigger than I’d expected...the addition of most rooms having an en-suite was also a nice added bonus! The only comment I would make is that I would say this property holds 18 adults at max, we had 19 adults for one of the nights and the extra temporary bed which was kindly put up wasn’t really suitable for an adult and wasn’t the most comfortable. It would probably be ok for young children but I think for the price people expect a comfy bed as it made it a little awkward deciding who got that bed. We were also the first adult group to feed the animals with farmer vic which was so much fun...I’d highly recommend!! All in all an absolutely brilliant trip an amazing property and exactly what we needed for a long weekend away all together! It’s definitely worth a visit, Thank you!

  • A beautiful place to stay, there were 12 of us so took advantage of having Elliott house and the dairy, both houses were immaculately clean and full of amenities. the en suite bedrooms were large, comfortable and had a good standard of bed. Kitchen is large and great for big family meals. The holiday village is lovely, with petting animals, a playground and football pitch for the children. Would return in a flash.

  • A truly magical stay in high end quality sympathetically restored rustic accommodation, suitable for a large party of guests. Loved being around the animals and fresh farm eggs for breakfast was a nice touch. Professional, private and superbly located for nearby countryside attractions and amenities. 10/10 will definately book again.

  • We have just come back from delightful weekend spent at Elliot House and The Daily. We booked this property for a 30th Wedding Anniversary celebration and were not disappointed. We were all amazed by the amenities and little touches that made the stay extra special. The properties were spotlessly clean and the photos do not show just how stunning the accommodation is!

The property gave us all space to spend with our partners as well as communal areas to celebrate the birthday weekend together, and the hot tub was great fun! Vic and Rachel, Thank you so much for making the weekend so special, for decorating, and getting the drinks on the ice in advance!!!! We had an amazing time, and would love to come back again!

  • We ended up staying at the Old Milking Parlour, which is part of the Oakerthorpe Holiday Village. It was a fantastic accommodation for the 13 of us and two dogs. While we did have a problem with the boiler, the property manager was was quick to respond and send maintenance out to service the issue. It was clean, comfortable, and a perfect spot for us to spend the weekend and catch up with one another. Would highly recommend and be happy to book again the next time our family and friends get together.

  • It’s a wonderful place for families. Very relaxing and refreshing experience. We had a great time at Holly Cottage ( one of the cottages in the venue). Please be advised the WiFi was slow and accommodation is suitable of only 3 persons maximum ( with a double bed and a sofa): Great place to be in.. Happy to recommend for families to relax and have family time. All the members of the staffs were excellent..

  • Warm, well equipped house. Excellent.

  • A lovely property with plenty of room for a large family group. The five children in our party loved the outdoor spaces and particularly enjoyed helping ‘Farmer Vic’ to feed the animals. A spacious living room with three large comfortable sofas was the perfect place for the adults in the group to relax with a glass of wine and plan each day’s activities.

  • We booked South Wing for a team get-away and it was the perfect place to take the team away from all the distractions of normal life. The property was lovely and suited us perfectly. We had everything we needed for a home from home. Rachel was great and provided us with lots of information before our visit so we were looked after really well. Would highly recommend...

  • This is a great set up for a large family gathering. There are different independent accommodations available on the same site so everyone can have their own space if required. Farmer Vic was great with the children and took time to let them feed the animals and answered all of their many many questions despite it pouring down with rain. Highly recommend this place for large family groups. Thank you!
