Step back into history. ‘Welcome Stranger Cottage’ in Maryborough was built in 1890 and is set on a quiet street just minutes from the heart of Maryborough. This quaint three-bedroom miner’s cottage offers you all the comforts of home and is suitable for couples, families and social groups. With a fully-equipped kitchen, fenced backyard and off-street parking, it offers the ideal base to explore the history and cuisine of Victoria's goldfields.
The cosy cottage, where strangers are welcome, can comfortably sleep six; two bedrooms have queen beds, the third two king-singles. A double sofa-bed is situated in a common area should it be required. Guests have access to the whole house and garden. The cottage has ducted cooling for hot weather and a gas fire to keep it snug in winter. While it oozes yesteryear all modern conveniences are provided.
Maryborough is the perfect base to explore the historic goldfields region. Visit the world famous railway station, shop in the busy main street with a variety of retail outlets and eateries or head out for the day to discover the tiny towns developed in the gold rush of the 1800s. Farmers' markets are held nearby every Sunday, boutique wineries are dotted throughout the region and, of course, you can try your hand at prospecting!
  • Our stay here was wonderful, the house is clean, and very close to the town centre and exactly as advertised. Debbie, the host was very thoughtful, she made the booking process very easy for us (we had to make some small changes). She left a welcome note for us, and a few thoughtful little touches around the place which made us feel very comfortable during our stay. Would highly recommend! Thanks Debbie! :)

  • I had a fabulous stay at Tony’s place. My room was large, with a sparkling private bathroom. There’s a spacious communal lounge room that I was lucky enough to have to myself. Breakfast was provided which was a nice surprise, as was the chocolates and fresh fruit. The house is beautiful. The location is fantastic a few minutes’ walk into Maryborough. I highly recommend Tony’s place.

  • What a lovely and affordable way to enjoy a romantic escape to a vineyard! Such comfortable accommodation, a huge lush bed and all the amenities you need to enjoy yourself out in the country. The breakfast provisions are particularly generous and what better way to enjoy them than sitting out on your private deck staring down rows of vines under a huge sky. Talbot and the surrounding area is rich with culinary adventure, the market was a feast and don’t get me started on the wine..! Go ahead and treat yourself.

    Tammy2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Debs place was exceptional value for money. The place was private, had everything you needed, and if you run out of wine Neil is happy to pop over with a few top up bottles for a reasonable mates rates price. Our dog had a lot of fun and the verandah has gates on it if you’re worried about your dog wandering off. 10/10 would recommend for a wholesome weekend experience.

    Melissa2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • I had the most wonderful stay at Deb’s place! The view from the balcony is just lovely & there are so many beautiful birds. A most peaceful spot, & make sure to try their wine too- it’s delicious!

    Karen2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice venue with country views. Directions to get there were clear and there was someone there to welcome us.

    Denise2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • As return visitors I can’t express how wonderful this place is. Comfortable, clean and the dogs love the property. Thanks again for a wonderful stay.

    Tracy2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Deb’s place for two nights and really enjoyed our time. You’d need to go there with the right mind set of switching off the electronics and just enjoy your peace and quiet time in a vineyard . It was clean with nice little touches in every corner . She’s done a great job making you feel at home . The bathroom is outside but the access is all covered area. We cooked there on the bbq the whole time and loved the magical sky at night . We’d go back there again .

    Mani2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic stay at Deb's place. The cottage faces a beautiful view of a nice vineyard and it was a pleasure strolling around and checking out the grape vines. Amenities were great - lots of food made available for breakfast the next day, and the cottage itself was cozy - my parents kept raving about how comfortable the bed was! Deb was a friendly and helpful host and also prepared some useful local information in the folder. Jack the kelpie x was also a gracious host and showed my dog around the vineyard and kept him company. Everyone (including the dog!) had a good time! I highly recommend Deb's place, and will most certainly be back someday.

    Li Ping2020-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • Debs place is very beautiful, the studio is super spacious and the bed is huge and very cozy. Deb and her husband offered us a big breakfast which we could even use for a nice dinner. Totally recommend their place!

Pretty Cottage, built in c.1880, lies in the historic gold fields town of Talbot. Lovingly restored with period features, the cottage sits just a short distance from the centre of the town. The town boasts a monthly Craft and Farmers' Market, an award winning Provedore and Eatery, an observatory, pub, book store, vintage shops, post office/general store and is close to the Pyrennees and other beautiful wine producing areas. Your stay includes a full breakfast to cook and eat at your leisure.
Pretty Cottage is approximately 140 years old. It is a small and cosy cottage that has two bedrooms, a laundry facility, a full kitchen, a bathroom with a step-in shower, bath and spa, a lovely generously sized garden and spacious outdoor entertaining areas. The main bedroom boasts a large open fireplace, ideal for brisk winters and romantic nights. The second bedroom has French doors that lead out onto its own private deck and garden, with two chairs and a table. The laundry features a sink, washing machine and vented clothes dryer together with washing detergents, complimentary for your stay together with a large fold-down washing line located outside. The kitchen is fully self-contained with quality pots and pans, utensils, a large pantry cupboard and cleaning products under the sink. Quality Sheridan linen and towels, cutlery, crockery and glassware is also available for guests to use. A full English breakfast is provided for self catering together with a Nespresso coffee machine, complimentary coffee pods and a selection of Twinings tea sachets and loose leaf tea. Cooking essentials such as olive oil, salt, pepper, tomato sauce, soy sauce and some spices/herbs are also available for your use. One of the spacious outdoor entertainment areas features a market umbrella, table and chairs, the other is a roofed and decked area just outside the kitchen door, overlooking the cottage's beautiful English garden, and is a great space to relax with a wine or two. 🔑🔑🔑 SELF CHECK-IN/OUT 🗝🗝🗝 The cottage operates on a self-check-in/check-out basis (secure lockbox). The code and location for the lockbox will be sent via Airbnb at least one day prior to arriving. Check-in time is 3.00pm and check-out is 1.00. I am flexible with the check-in/out times, providing there are no back-to-back bookings. 📡📡📡 WIFI 📡📡 PLEASE NOTE : TELSTRA is the ONLY carrier that works, albeit sporadically, in Talbot. As of 13 December 2019, Telstra Wifi is included. A smart TV, G00gle Chromecast, DVD player, HDMI cable, Sony bluetooth music system together with a selection of DVDs and books are also provided for your use and leisure. As of 25 February Netflix is also included. 🚘🚗🚙 PARKING 🏍🚎🛵 There is no parking on the property, but off street parking is plentiful EXCEPT on market days (third Sunday of every month), so please park in Chapman Lane, located behind Pretty Cottage, where a gate leads into the back garden from the lane. The gate requires a very hard push/pull (depending on the weather) to open and close. There are also two umbrellas provided for guests' use, on rainy days, and these are located at the entrance of the cottage.
Talbot is now a quiet old gold mining town of approximately 400 people. During the Gold Rush, it is estimated that Talbot's population was upward of 30,000 people, and 100 hotels! According to local historians, Pretty Cottage's site was once a 'tent pub' and a few artefacts were discovered when digging garden beds within the back garden. These items of interest are housed in the drop-down-desk inside the cottage for your perusal. 🏨⛪️🌅 THE TOWN 🏡🏘🏦 Talbot now boasts a multiple award-winning 🥇 Provedore and Eatery that is open from Thursday through to Sunday for breakfasts, morning/afternoon teas and lunches, and dinner every Saturday night. We advise pre-booking a meal. Talbot’s Court House Hotel/pub run by Reiny and Barry, also serve delicious dinners on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights and is a vibrant place to be when busy, so a visit is highly recommended and pre-booking is also advised. Pretty Cottage is also mentioned in Narenna Bloomfield’s article in the ‘Daylesford Life Macedon, Autumn 2020, Volume 3, Issue 1, supplement located in The Age newspaper on Saturday 15 February 2020. https://daylesfordmacedonlife.com.au/stories/food-wine/taste-of-talbot#.XkTPtgb7Owg.facebook The town also prides itself in the following:- 1 - the oldest running post office/milk bar in Victoria run be Denise & Ross; 2 - an observatory for space enthusiasts (weather permitting) run by Robert; 3 - a stunning book shop, ‘Slightly Bent Books’, run by Helen; 4 - a couple of vintage shops - one in Chesterfield House and the other next door to Slightly Bent Books shop; 5 - a museum (open on certain days); 6 - a clean outdoor swimming pool (open only in summer when the weather forecast is above 25 degrees); 7 - the original railway station - now a plant nursery/bric-a-brac space - opened to the public and run by Ralph; 8 - the Amherst Vineyard, famous for its beautiful local wines, run by Luke Jones; 9 - the Possum Gully Art Gallery, run by Trish - about a 20 min drive from Talbot; 10 - Felix Ceramics (within the township), run by Belinda; 11 - Stuff ‘n Nonsense (behind the Provedore); 12 - Rosy’s Red Corridor Gallery (famous for her hand knitted quirky teapots and covers); 13 - ‘Barefoot Annie’ (vintage clothing) run by Annie; and 14 - the Aboriginal Maternity tree (allegedly 700 years old) is also nearby. 15. Vineyards such as DogRock, Redbank, Summerhill, Taltarnie and Dalwhinnie are a few that come to mind. 🚌🚌🚌 PUBLIC TRANSPORT 🚈🚈🚈 The new Talbot railway station is fully operable and usually runs twice a day (week days) from Maryborough to Ballarat and back. There is also a bus service with two bus stops - one near Chesterfield House and the other outside the old railway station. However, both train and bus services need daily checking on V/Line due to regular maintenance. 🥤☕️🍽 MARKETS 🌽🥕🥒 The Craft and Farmers' market is held on the third Sunday of every month and draws approximately 3000 people. Here you will find anything from fresh farm produce to handmade goods such as hand bags (made by Ingrid), hand made soaps, live entertainment, bric-a-brac, craft items, quality nursery plants and plenty of food and coffee. ⛏💰 GOLD FOSSICKING 💰⛏ Fossicking for gold is also a popular recreation and enjoyed by many gold-detecting enthusiasts. The world's largest gold nugget, the 'Welcome Stranger' was found 150 years ago in Moliagul (approximately a 45 minute drive away from Talbot)! So bring a metal detector down - you never know what you may find! Two gold-fossicking booklets are also provided for use, but remain the property of the cottage. 🧖‍♀️ SPA/Masseurs 🧖‍♂️ Maryborough (a 10 min drive from Talbot) has a masseur, but does not offer a mobile facility. However should you require a mobile masseur, I can organise this should the masseur be available. Daylesford (a 40-45 min drive from Talbot) offers both, spas and masseurs.
  • We had a pleasant stay in this beautiful cottage. Such a wonderful place to wind down and take a break from all the craziness of living in a busy city. It had all the amenities required to just stay in and relax. The back garden was very nice and I really enjoyed sitting there and reading on the deck facing the garden. I hope I get the chance to go back soon.

  • My mother and I stayed at Pretty Cottage for a mother-daughter getaway. Upon stepping into Pretty Cottage we were greeted with beautiful scents of lemon myrtle and stylish furnishings/decor. The amenities including breakfast ingredients, toiletries and linens were all very much appreciated. We were lucky enough to enjoy the Talbot Market right at our doorstep during our stay, which definitely one of the best markets we've been to thus far. The cottage has all the luxury of a five star hotel, nestled in the quiet town of Talbot. We really couldn't fault our experience in Talbot, Gina was quick to respond and has provided a beautiful and warm cottage experience with all the creature comforts you could hope for. Across the road from tennis courts and the magestic Lake Victoria / Princes Park for you daily leisurely stroll. Beautiful relaxing location close to all amenities. A beautiful private home.

  • It was a wonderful stay and a get away I really needed. This stay is situated in a very prime location with so many shops within a quick reach. It also had a very country like feeling both in and out. The place was very clean and well maintained along with a very nice country touch inside. Amenities and utensils exceed the expectations so much because everything was there in multiple numbers. The outdoor area is very relaxing too. Moreover, Berni was such a flexible and good host which made this experience much better. With self check in it almost seemed like our own home but of course with a very peaceful country environment attached to it. Thanks for the great stay.

  • We stayed at Maryborough for the RACV Energy Breakthrough event - so my review reflects this and is therefore not a review of the town/cottage at any other time of year! Berni was a wonderful host. He was quick to respond to my questions and was wonderful in holding our booking and granting us a bit of grace to come up with the deposit. The location was great for us with the HPV event. We were 1km from our school's camp base, which was ideal with races finishing after dark. The aircon was a godsend on the 40 degree day! There was heating if we needed it. The cottage was just so cosy and is a place to stay that has everything you would need. It truly felt like stepping into 'a home' that we could instantly make ours. The cottage was walking distance to all the town's amenities and shops etc. and although not in a 'pretty street' it was a great location. The downside was having the 24 hour race in front of the house, it meant the road was blocked and we were unable to get our car out. (As it was, we just walked everywhere!) The front 2 bedrooms were not able to be slept in unless we had earplugs because of the vehicle horns and noises all night, but this was by no means a fault of the owner of the cottage. It is just something I would keep in mind if you were staying here for the RACV Energy Breakthrough. Thanks for letting us stay!

  • My family and I loved our stay at Diane's place. Even thought the weather was terrible we were really cozy with the wood heater and the split system as a backup. There was heaps for our toddler to do and he loved having the horses so close. The kitchen had everything we needed for the three nights we stayed and everything was clean and tidy on arrival. Diane was really responsive and easy to communicate with. The location was also great, with Talbot and Clunes so close and Maryborough an easy drive as a bigger centre. We'd definitely stay again next time we're in the area. Thanks again Diane!

If your after a peaceful quiet setting, this is the place. It's an owner built house, designed by an Artist for an Artist. It has 6 different spaces to play, eat, sleep, relax, exercise, or just be(URL HIDDEN)Spacious and light, rooms offer views over expansive landscape, toward the magnificent Pyrenees. a perfect place to paint or write
This space is a work in progress, spaces change according to needs, activities, hobbies and energy.
This place is close to weekend market locations, like Clunes and Talbot. Eateries, wineries, bush walks. Just a short drive away. It's far enough away to be away from it all.
  • A great space to relax and enjoy the Victorian countryside.

    Mark2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Sheila’s place was exactly what we needed. An easy get away from the city with everything to make the stay comfortable. A wonderful space to sit and do some reading or writing, do some yoga, or to sit and have a beer watching the landscape and listening to the birds.

    Anna & Luke2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing location for people who are tired of the urban lifestyle to have a getaway and meditation. Very private space that you can even just walk around naked worrying the least about being seen by other people. We love especially the windows that open up the picturesque view of the country in front of us. It changed multiple times a day, like a movie. What we enjoyed the most is the very friendly host who recommended a hidden creek where my partner, me, and our dog had a great time. Sheila also responded very fast, mostly within 10 minutes. Highly recommend thus place and we will definitely come back.

    Zoe2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • A great secluded location, very quiet. Awesome place to just unwind.

    Amil2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Sheila’s place is beautiful and simple in it's design and amenities, everything you need for a nourishing trip away from the city. It's only 10min from the monthly Talbot Market which makes for a perfect getaway weekend. The kitchen is fully equipped, lounge is generous and comfortable, there is space for yoga, a big bath, and two rooms with double beds. Most importantly, the view from the lounge and the bedroom is stunning (if you love the central Victorian landscape which we do!). We enjoyed watched birds fly around and sheep ambling across the paddock over the back fence, the occasional kangaroo, and when the sun went town the vast night sky.

    Lexi2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Sheila's place was exactly what my husband and I needed on a relaxing week away from Melbourne. The location is fantastic, beautifully peaceful, quiet and secluded in the heart of the Victorian historical Goldfields region. There are so many beautiful walks, national and state parks, creeks and waterfalls close by and Maryborough shops and supermarkets have all the amenity you would need about 10 minutes drive from the cottage. Waking up in the cottage every morning was heavenly. I really enjoyed seeing the sheep and birds, kangaroos and other wildlife around the land, the air is fresh and it is peacefully quiet. On walks we were able to see new Australian wildlife that we had never seen, including an Echidna! Sheila's a warm and welcoming host who was very generous in providing tips on what to see in the local area, including a beautiful creek she suggested. The cottage has everything you could need and was very comfortable. Highly recommend!

With four bedrooms, and two living areas, the house can comfortably sleep 8 people (more by arrangement). There is a large outdoor area, with a wood fired BBQ, lounge and dining table. Don't miss the sensational sunset over the front paddock or a walk along the creek.
With a comfortable lounge with wood fired heater, separate dining area, and well appointed kitchen with fantastic wooden workbench, you'll never want to leave! There's a pool table and separate lounge area for entertaining.
Wareek is situated 13 kms from the large rural town of Maryborough or 18 kms from Avoca and the Pyrenees Wine Region. Wareek is a quiet, peaceful and friendly hamlet. Head to Talbot market for one of the biggest and best farmers markets in Australia.
  • We had a fantastic stay at Paul’s place. The house is huge and even better than the photos. Whilst there was only two of us, the place could easily accommodate a few couples. There was plenty of entertainment, from the pool table to board games or relaxing in the hammock to the sounds of the birds. The bed was very comfy, water was hot and kitchen facilities excellent. Definitely amazing value for money! The place is really clean as well. Our dog loved the place too and the secured back yard! Thanks Paul- hope to return again someday.

The Cottage is situated on 50 acres which has been in our family for over 150 years and has frontage to the Pyrenees Highway, and enjoys sunsets over Ranges. It is fully equiped with everything you will need for that special getaway. Bung Bong Hill Cottage has been designed and built by our family as a destination for that special getaway, yet with the privacy and convenience of a home, on land first settled in 1858 by our forebears. Until 2001 the land had been constantly farmed, but is now given over to a small olive grove, and several hundreds of eucalyptus trees have been planted. Many more have regenerated naturally since grazing has ceased. The oil from our hand-picked olives can be purchased. The cottage has been placed within this pleasing aspect. Verandahs, together with decking for outdoor eating, have been added for maximum effect to enjoy the ambience and the views. New and modern furnishings have been added throughout with comfort a first consideration. In winter, enjoy the cosy wood heater (wood supplied) or just turn on the comfort of the split system air conditioners. Relax on the reclining couch and watch TV on the big screen enjoying sound on the surround sound system. Satellite Foxtel (including Sport) has been installed to give a wider range of channels. Enjoy the two-person spa-bath in the Master bedroom. A fully covered barbecue area with a gas barbecue and table is provided for your use The whole house and surrounding land is for the exclusive use of our guests. After 10 years operating our B&B at the Romantic Vineyard near Talbot, we have moved to Carisbrook and opened our new accommodation! "On the Creek". We are situated on 4 acres of land along the Deep Creek nature trail. Your guest house is private and has a lounge room, dining area with an old English pub table, small kitchen, for light food preparation, 2 bedrooms (one with a queen bed and one with a double bed), private shower and bathroom and free wi-fi .
We have easy access to many of the quaint rural towns in the Goldfields of Victoria. We are just 30 meters off the Pyrenees highway on the road to Maryborough, Maldon, Castlemaine, and Bendigo. We are just 100 meters to the nature trail along the Deep Creek which runs for a kilometer. It is a beautiful walk under the big river red gum trees at any time of the day. Great dining at the local pub. In the morning you can walk to the bakery or Post Office Cafe. There is a small grocery store just 400 meters away.
Carisbrook is a quiet and a very pretty community. There are many historical buildings and landmarks in our town. We have the natural trail running along the creek where platypus and other wildlife are often sighted. There are many signs describing the different birds, animals and fauna in the area. There is a picnic area and playground for kids on the trail.

  • My family had a great time at Renée & Dave’s cottage. The cottage was well equipped and clean. They were gracious and hospitable hosts - even had the time to invite us to dinner - most kind of them. It was interesting to hear of Dave’s research and work with Australian animals, particularly koalas, and Renée’s work at the radio station. They were very helpful in informing us of facilities and attractions around the area. We would love to stay with them again. Your kind hospitality was very much appreciated Renée & Dave. Thank you kindly. Anthony, Clare & Thérèse

  • Renee and Dave are going more and beyond to be great hosts. It has been an absolute pleasure to stay with them. The apartment is in the same house, where the hosts are living. The welcome has been fantastic and friendly. Also the communication before. As soon as we stepped into the Appartement we felt welcomed and home. Nothing has been missing. Much more than expected had been given. I recommend the hosts and the Appartement absolutely to everyone without a second of a doubt.

  • My husband and I came here for a 2 night stay over a long weekend and absolutely loved it. The cottage was so beautifully styled and comfortable, and the property was amazing. Paula went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed and it felt like a little home away from home! Could not recommend this place more!

    Georgia2019-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic time at the cottage - it’s so sweet and well-appointed, two lovely outdoor seating areas and a very comfortable interior, with beautiful bed linen and luxury touches. Paula and Paul were the ideal hosts - friendly and helpful but not intrusive, showing us around the farm and helping with great tips for the local area. We particularly enjoyed exploring the farm with our young son - walking in the olive grove, and exploring the creek (dry when we were there) and the river - which was spectacular and a great place for a picnic in the sand. Our son got to eat an apple straight from the tree for the first time, and the gardens and buildings are fascinating. We saw kangaroos and wallabies and hares and huge amounts of bird life - the blue wrens in particular are everywhere in the gardens. Altogether it was a really great restful and enjoyable weekend away - not too far from Melbourne and an enjoyable drive. We’d recommend it!

Buckley's of Dunolly, a former goldfields hotel, has three upstairs luxuriously appointed double bedrooms with queen size beds, one with private ensuite. The upstairs breakfast room has coffee, tea, cereal, microwave and fridge. The former ballroom is for exclusive use by guests, with television, comfortable sofas, board games and books. We are situated on fifteen acres of garden and bushland.
There were many gold rush miners on this property during the gold rush. There was even a hospital and a butcher on the grounds. Only bricks and rubble are left from the former buildings, but many fossickers still find gold in the district. We have echidnas and wallabies on the property as well as micro-bats, owls and shingleback lizards . It is a perfect area for star gazing as there are no street lights and lots of "big sky".
This is gold detecting country and many visitors come to try their luck. Dunolly also has a swimming pool, post office, chemist, and antique shops. The Dunolly Bakery is very popular in the district. The Railway Hotel serves excellent meals. We are fifteen minutes drive from Maryborough with it's impressive railway station, museum and cafe. Heading north on a fifteen minute drive is the charming town of Tarnagulla. The tiny towns are well worth exploring and the remaining historic buildings give an idea of how populated the area was during the goldfields rush.
  • Great space full of history that has been maintained with renovations. Very comfortable bed and hot shower. Plenty for breakfast and lovely lounge to relax.

  • Such a treasure of a place, beautifully presented to match the era of the building. We were well looked after by Rachel, she was such a delight to meet and provided a comfortable, well catered and private space for us. Would happily return here and enjoy more of the wonderful accommodation, the area and Rachel's hospitality.

  • I can not recommend Buckley’s of Dunolly highly enough. The building was stunning, the beds super comfortable with great little touches everywhere.

    Freya2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • A cosy, comfy and beautifully styled old-style get away with a warm welcome and impeccable hospitality from Rachel. We had plenty of space and privacy, and especially enjoyed lounging in the lounge by the wood fire. Comfy, warm beds made for a restorative night's sleep. Thank you Rachel, we look forward to visiting again.

  • Rachel greeted me with a warm smile, a bowl of fresh strawberries and two friendly dogs. Her beautiful hotel is like taking a step back in time and I felt so spoilt. My bed was luxurious and Rachel had provided delicious breakfast supplies. I would definitely love to return one day and will be recommending it to family and friends.

  • Rachel was a perfect host, great communication and a wonderful place to stay! Sit on the veranda with a glass of wine, walk around the property to witness some of the most gorgeous landscape you’ll ever see. Everything has been thoughtfully considered, from the large country kitchen, that can cater for large gatherings, to intimate dinners - spacious formal areas, that look like they belong in an architectural digest magazine. • Absolutely spectacular place to stay, everything about our weekend was fantastic. Paula is an amazing host, very welcoming and generous, and she made our weekend perfect. The house is amazing, and beautifully appointed. The beds are comfortable and cosy, with gorgeous bedding. The kitchen is fabulous, great for a big group, with heaps of everything you might need, and a well stocked pantry. The breakfast is HUGE, and delicious, and was very appreciated:-) We are already planning our next family weekend away here :-)

  • We loved our stay at Boundary Farm. It exceeded our expectations for a few reasons. Paula and Paul were so hospitable, attentive and flexible. The house was so interesting and lovely, steeped in history and with lovely gardens and immaculate interiors. The amenities were a lovely surprise, coffee machine and pods, pantry stocked with staples, and lovely additions to make our stay special. The house was really clean and the beds were very comfortable with beautiful linen. Being a champagne lover the complimentary bottle of french bubbles was enjoyed as soon as we settled in! The town is an easy drive but we mainly enjoyed being in an historic house on beautiful grounds enjoying the serenity of the country. We'd thoroughly recommend this property. Thanks again Paula and Paul.

  • We wanted together away as a family as well as visiting some really lovely towns out of Melbourne. This place is right on its own, wonderfully relaxing with great scenery, inspiring character and with its own fascinating history. Easy walking to the beautiful river. Paula is a star hostess and could not do enough. Even left breakfast bits in the fridge. Highly recommend, and although I did not know at the time, there is a building that acts as a great workshop space, it would be a fabulous venue to run small creative and teaching events. Will keep this in mind.

  • When booking Christine's place so we could stay offsite at a local music festival, we had no idea of where Talbot was but after our lovely experience, we are keen to explore the town more. The town itself was so colourful with lots of interesting shops and attractions including a local pool, award winning cafe and space observatory. We loved Christine's house very much. I have never seen such a clean house in my life!! It sparkled. There were comfortable beds, an espresso machine with beautiful coffee, white linen and much much more! Christine was also a kind and thoughtful host who obviously loves hosting people at her beautiful cottage. Highly recommended!

  • What an amazing place to stay for a large group. We were an extended family group of 15 adults and 11 of us stayed in the Homestead. The rest stayed in the Napiers apartment which was a short walk down the hill to the Homestead. It was a very cold weekend, but the house warmed up beautifully with the wood fire and electric heaters. There are lovely walks to be had by the creek. Everyone enjoyed the ambiance of the place. The beds were comfy, plenty of crockery, cutlery, glasses etc, loads of fridge and cupboard space and plenty of room to either sit together or spread out into different rooms. We had dinnner one night at the Talbot Provodore Cafe which is a short drive away and we also visited the Talbot Market which was fun. All in all a wonderful weekend away.

  • We had a group of 10 stay to celebrate a special birthday. The homestead is absolutely gorgeous. A beautiful, clearly cherished period home. The kitchen is amazing and we shared many lovely meals all together. Alison is incredibly responsive and helpful before the stay and during check in and provided privacy during our stay. We would definitely come back! Thanks!

  • What a special treat! Staying on a farm with such beautiful surrounds and warm hospitality, we had a great time away. Communication with Alison was prompt and helpful - we loved the suggestion of the Talbot Provodore and were grateful to be able to use the spa! We’d definitely stay again for a country escape and highly recommend others to do the same.

  • A lovely, peaceful spot to spend some time away from the hustle & bustle.

    Ushi2018-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • Can’t really get more getaway than that. Firstly, the cabin is much bigger than it looks in the photos, which was a great surprise. Charles was very friendly and gave us a warm welcome and chat. The spa is next level. The cows gave a real show and the view was constantly stunning, even the stars at night. Highly recommended
