Places to stay in Maenclochog
A quiet private and cosy space which is perfect for a romantic getaway set in a magical rural setting under the Preseli Mountains. High bed with views of sunset and stars. Log burner, large comfy sofa and private patio garden by the mill stream.
A beautiful romantic space for two with a sleeping platform, a huge comfy sofa/bed, TV, a woodburner and view over to the Preseli mountains. A beautiful hand-built kitchen with slate floor leads from the main living and sleeping space and then double stained glass doors open out onto the patio garden next to the mill race that flows down to the old cast-iron mill wheel below. There is also a bathroom with shower and bath. The central heating is managed by a biomass boiler situated in an out-building We provide a large basket of wood and kindling. Extra is available to buy should you need it. Discounts are available for week long bookings or mid-week only bookings. Please contact me to find out more. This accommodation is part of a smallholding (withone other adjoining holiday cottage) which used to be a thriving flour mill. The studio feels very private with its own garden overlooking the mill- wheel. It is a gorgeous place for a holiday exploring Pembrokeshire. 10 miles from Narberth and 12 miles from Cardigan tucked away in its own little world close to the Preselli mountains and a short walk from little village of Mynachlogddu. You will find everything you need here to kick back and relax and explore magical Pembrokeshire. We are in a 16 acre smallholding and there are rivers, streams and waterfalls all around. The place is an oasis of escape. Craig,Dan or Oshi will show you everything you need to know during your stay. This whole place is steeped in history both ancient and recent, they say it has been in use since megalithic times as a sanctuary for healing, being the home of the famous bluestones which were transported (somehow!!) to Stonehenge. The mill has not been in use for 50 years but the old cast iron wheel still stands and the mill race flows behind the cottage. You will always be able to hear the faint murmur of flowing water as well as plenty of birdsong, the odd sheep bleating and no traffic except for a tractor making hay in the fields during the summer. You will be able to light a fire outside and sit under the starscapes, hang out on the river bank and get natural, wander amongst the trees and hills and let the rest of the world disappear if you want to. We do have wireless connection but due to its sheltered location we only have the odd patches of mobile reception but half a mile down the lane there is full reception.
Felindyrch is situated half a mile outside the tiny village of Mynachlogddu, home of the Preseli bluestones which made their way to stonehenge. (10 miles from the quirky market towns of Narberth to the south and Cardigan to the North) surrounded by stunning landscapes and with full starry skies. Centrally located in West Wales it is a wonderful location to explore the beaches of the North Coast (25 minutes drive) the South coast 30-40 minutes and the west coast 50 minutes. The nearest mini-supermarket/petrol station is just 2 miles down the lane and nearest village with shops is Crymych 4 miles. This is a traditional farming area. There are many great walks and footpaths up to the hills. In the village a mile away there is a lovely wooden playground. In the other direction Trefach caravan park welcomes guests from Felindyrch to swim in their swimming pool as long as refreshments are purchased from the restaurant or bar. Mention Felindyrch for a warmer welcome when you arrive as they are pretty hot on making sure they keep a safe space for their younger guests
  • I couldn’t recommend Oshi’s place more

  • Great facilities in an idyllic location. Ideal base for exploring the region. Comfortable and quiet.

  • Our stay fell in the middle of storm Dennis and we couldnt think of a better place to get cosy and wait out the bad weather! The studio is very cosy and relaxing with the fire roaring and the sound of the stream right outside. We would love to come back and explore the area more, it is beautiful. The view of the night sky from the mezzanine bed is a nice touch too. This was a great place to just unwind.

    Andy2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely amazing stay in a perfect location. Loved listening to the river and watching the stars from the bedroom. Nearby Narberth was a lovely little village to explore and do some shopping in the little boutique shops. Didn’t want to leave, will definitely return!

    Anita2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place to get away from it all - we had a lovely weekend here and Oshi was very helpful too :)

    Alfie2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent trip to a beautiful part of Wales. A warm welcome and friendly hospitality. Even although it rained a lot, I had the most amazing time relaxing and painting in front of the log fire in the beautifully converted barn/watermill. The colours were so green and vibrant around Oshi's place. Such a beautiful location with the coast also close enough for coastal walks. A great, warm, autumn country escape. Will be booking again and look forward to returning!

  • We had a lovely weekend here in the barn. Never stayed in a place like this before, it was peaceful and nature-ry, the air is so clean and invigorating in this area I miss it! I think we should have stayed a week as a weekend wasn’t long enough!

    Vicky2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • This place was an absolute gem! The photos on the airbnb do not do it justice. It is a lovely retreat off the beaten track where we enjoyed the log fire and the sounds of nature all around us. Oshi is the best host we have ever come across - very quick with responses, great directions to find the studio, and a huge list of recommendations for the local area. We stayed for 3 nights but could have stayed for longer. A beautiful place with a lovely host. Thank you Oshi! x

Would highly recommend to anyone wishing to visit Pembrokeshire. Only 30 mins from the north, west and south beaches. Perfect spot for an all-round trip to that area of Wales.

  • Can't fault Felindyrch; such a lovely, cosy place with a magical feel. The kitchen is great to cook in, the beds are comfortable, the stove welcoming - and the spot is very well located to explore the Pembrokeshire coast. Oshi is a warm and thoughtful host and gave us a wonderful stay. Highly recommended.

    Tom2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful cottage with lots of charm- Oshi is a very attentive and thoughtful host. We will definitely come again.

    Ian2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • If you want a laid back place to completely relax and learn about this part of Wales then this is it. Homely and friendly, we had a great night with our host Oshi, but she also respects your privacy. Be part of her little community or just do your own thing. Not luxurious, but comfortable- with its own charm, kick back and enjoy.

    Heather2020-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • This place....just wow! Not only is it in a very beautiful peaceful setting, the cottage is second to none. It’s cost yet spacious. Stylish yet traditional. It really is a beautiful place to be. The stream running around the cottage literally took my breath away. The residents of the farm are super friendly and you are made to feel at home from the second you arrive. It’s just perfect in every way!

    Ellie2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay at Oshi's place. The bed was super comfortable and the living room lovely and cosy with log burner and Christmas tree was a lovely touch. Met by Craig on arrival who was very informative. Oshi was on hand to supply towels and answer questions when needed! Thank you for a great post christmas break!

    Keri2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • We booked this stay looking for a bolt hole for a few days to recharge the batteries and this cottage and it's setting did this and so much more. The cottage was cosy but spacious - we are a family of 5 and a dog. It had a really good feeling and was full of lovely unique touches. The setting was beautiful and Oshi and Dan were more than happy for us to explore their land - lovely views of the hills, running streams, fields of sheep. If you want a warm, welcoming, comfortable escape from the every day we could not recommend this more highly.

    Hazel2019-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage and location is, in a word, idyllic. Our host, Oshi, was lovely and accommodating . From here, there are numerous beautiful beaches that can be explored. Some of the beaches are quite rightly, noted as the best in the world. Felindyrch cottage is highly recommended.

    Keith2019-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful location. Ideal spot to visit Pembrokeshire. Oshi's hospitality and personal touches around the cottage make it a special place to stay. Definitely hope to return some day!

  • The cottage and location is great, loads of walks right on the door step. Lots of dog friendly pubs nearby, we would recommend doing the Preseli hills route starting in Rosebush. The cottage was lovely and clean, with some great home comforts. Would love to go again!

  • Lovely cosy and warm cottage, which suited the two of us and the dog perfectly! Comfortable bed and sofas, no tv, just reading and gorgeous walks on beautiful beaches, eg Stackpole Quay circular walk, Newport Bay, and the blue Lagoon. The stars were spectacular! Thank you Greg :)

    Beth2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Greg's place is absolutely beautiful. The cottage is stunning inside and out, very secluded and ideal for a romantic getaway. We walked our dogs in the day and sat by the cosy fire in the evenings. The stargazing really is not to be missed, it was incredible, we were able to see hundreds of stars very clearly, it was beautiful. Would highly reccomend this stay, Greg's instructions were very helpful and the cottage is very well equipped.

  • Sparkling clean, very cosy quiet spot, great value for money. Emma seemed a lovely person, we somehow woke up with a flat tyre and she helped us pump it enough to get to closest garage, what a sweetheart. Loved the pets, even though Emma said feel free to lock them out, in fact I really enjoyed having a friendly cat about. Well equiped kitchen full of character, warm, good wifi. All in all, couldn't recommend more.

The Llama Lodge is the ideal place to come and stay for your holidays and short trips in Pembrokeshire and South West Wales. A log cabin comprising of a large living area and kitchen, separate bedroom, and bathroom, The Llama Lodge is utterly unique and original in that it is the only place you can stay while llamas graze nearby. We also offer guests the opportunity to participate in one of our llama treks - message us for more details (must be booked ahead of arrival in most instances)
The Llama Lodge is based at Glanrhydwilym farm - home of the Pembrokeshire Llamas, our 5 star TripAdvisor rated llama trekking experience. Why not book in with us (prior to arrival) to take your very own llama for a walk during your stay? Glanrhydwilym sits snuggly on the side of the wooded valley of Rhydwilym, which in turns is nestled just south of the Preseli mountains and Pembrokeshire National Park. Glanrhydwilym is home to llama farmers Matt and Alex, plus their young son Macsen. In addition to our llamas, also in residence are our two pigs (Boris and Wilym), our eight cats, parrot, tortoise and guinea pigs. We have a free range hedgehog family who are often seen after dark with their baby hoglets in tow. In the warmer months, our family of bats descend from the roof of the main house and soar across the valley looking for food. On a clear night, the Llama Lodge is a great place to star gaze - Pembrokeshire boasts some of the best dark sky opportunities in Britain, and on a good night it is possible to observe the spectacle of the Milky Way or the constellations such as Orion with the naked eye. Also at night, you are likely to hear plenty of owls calling. Depending on the season, they can be quite rowdy! The Llama Lodge has the following amenities: Heating: log burner 20 MBPS Wifi (can be turned off if unwanted) Gas oven and stove Microwave oven Toaster Kettle Fridge Shower Sinks Flushing toilet Hot water Drinking water A travel cot and high chair can be provided upon request. A single camp bed can be provided upon request.
  • Avoiding the obvious attraction.... Lovely cabin. Great fire with lots of wood. Good facilities and great animals with pigs, geese and more. Moving onto Llamaramas.... Who doesn't love waking up to having llamas outside their window?! Fantastic stuff. Also great to look out the bathroom window to see.... Llamas. If you don't like llamas, this place isn't for you. Especially as there are loads of wonderful llama themed touches around the place. We'll be back!

    Dan2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful place that is so relaxing. The setting is beautiful and the animals are real characters. If you want to get away from it all this is the place.

    Lee2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • We were booked here for two nights and what an amazing time we had! The cabin lodge was cosy and relaxing especially next to the burning log fire. The llamas were adorable and friendly and we often found ourselves simply watching them out of the front windows. Matt and Alex were the perfect hosts, with tips on where to visit and they even offered to get the log fire started before we got there! It was the perfect trip away, and one that we would highly recommend.

    Emily2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Llama lodge was a great place to stay for our first airbnb. Even with the long trip from the East Midlands. The llamas will literally come up to your doors and windows in the morning to see what your doing and the cabin itself was really cosy especially when you get the fire going. The llamas themselves are friendly and like a stroke if you approach them correctly. It also has good walks and good places to eat 10-15 mins drive away. Overall great stay👍🏻

    Ryan2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a fantastic time staying here, so close to all the curious llamas! The weather wasn’t great, but that only gave us an excuse to enjoy the cabin and sit by the fire. Matt and Alex were very accommodating, easy to communicate with, and very flexible on our check in/out timings (we didn’t arrive until midnight). Definitely recommended for a weekend of peace and quiet in the lovely Welsh country!

    Hayley2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • A perfect stay in a wooden cabin in a beautiful part of Wales. Very clean and tidy and we received a very warm welcome. I would highly recommend staying here for a unique experience!

  • Lovely wooden cabin in secluded Pembrokeshire. You'd definitely need a car to get there and to get around whilst there. The cabin was cosy and had everything you would need. The kitchen had an easy to use hob and oven, microwave and plenty of pots, pans, knives etc. Whilst there we booked to do a llama walk as well (£60 for two people at the time) and this was brilliant, we met Myrddin and Macsen and had a nice long walk with them and Matt as well. Access to the cabin is through the corner of the llama paddock so take wellies. The bathroom window opens over where they eat and so you often have company whilst brushing your teeth. Overall a brilliant weekend and Matt couldn't have been more accommodating.

    Eleanor2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • The stay was wonderful we had a really lovely time despite the weather and waking up to the llamas in the morning at our window was great would recommend to anyone wanting to visit this part of the country!

Our lovely Moor shed is a small groups room which we rent out at peak times. It overlooks the beautiful moor with it's ancient stones+circle. There is a fire pit+seating-so you can have a fire+a feast. You can sit+watch the sunset, it is simply furnished with futons+seating+the small simple private kitchen is close by+you have use of the loo+shower in the back of the Pottery (shared facility) It is a cheaper alternative to the cottages+full of charm! Optional Pottery workshops available...
Our Moor Shed is available as an overflow place to stay when all the cottages are already booked from Easter to end of September... Please note it is not a house... It has a lovely feel and being so close to the wild place of the moor is a wonderful retreat space. It is our cheapest option for one person to come and stay but also ideal for a couple or a maximum of 3 people to stay... Just a few steps from the moorshed is the gate to the moor...you can gather wood and have a fire....and there are benches and other seating for watching the sunset! (Please note the firepit is shared with the other (URL HIDDEN) you may or may not have company!) It has a futon and a couple of foam seat beds - so can sleep 1-2 people or a maximum of 3. It is only suitable for adults or teenagers...not for little ones...but there are other cottages suitable for little ones and the Moorshed is cheaper to stay in than the cottages...for various reasons: The Moor shed has a small and very simple kitchen close by more details below...and also use of the shower and loo in the back of the pottery which is a shared facility. Also our moor shed is used for some storage...We normally use it for singing, meditation etc It has quite a few lanterns and a really welcoming... not a huge space but if people are looking for a cheaper alternative to a cottage and don't mind squashing in this is a possibility! It is also used to store spare duvets...hidden away under the steps so you never need to be cold! The sleeping is on a futon which is fairly firm...which some people like but if you prefer sleeping softer...again you can use an extra duvets under the bedding...There are some electric heaters in the building too... It is a delightful space right next to the moor!
I love the magic of the hills...the wildness of the country...the everchanging colours of the landscape...the stones...skylarks...the beautiful sunsets...the peace and tranquility... I also love making pottery and teaching others how to throw pots on the wheel or make them by hand...
  • We booked the Moorshed for a short break at the end of October. Driving rain and gales didn't stop it from being a snug little stay - its well kitted out with heater and blankets. The area felt remote and peaceful and a great base for exploring the nearby moorland and coast.

  • Beautiful spot right on the moor! Perfect for exploring Pembrokeshire. A lovely get away for those who want to switch off and disconnect. The whole place had a lovely cosy atmosphere. Loo and kitchen are separate but very close by (if you don't mind sharing with the odd spider). Thank you Anna for a lovely stay we would love to come and stay again maybe at another one of your properties.

  • Lovely little hideaway in a beautiful and tranquil place. Just wish we could have stayed longer!

    Kian2019-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our time staying at the Moorshed. The interior is thoughtfully laid out and has a warm and homely feel. The access to the open moor right outside gives an immediate connection to nature, and within the garden areas there is a tranquil feel. I did an hour’s pottery tuition with Anna as an additional activity and really enjoyed that too. With Anna’s patient but relaxed tuition, I was surprised to make three pretty respectable pots! All highly recommended.

    Preseli Hills, Pembs, United Kingdom

Ty Pren Bach is situated on the edge of the friendly village of Maenclochog, at the foot of the spectacular Preseli Hills in North Pembrokeshire. Ty Pren Bach sits in the grounds of Westland West, a 5½ acre small holding. It is in a peaceful and relaxing setting with stunning views of the Preseli Hills, where the famous blue ‘ringing stones’ were taken by people in the Neolithic period, to use in the creation of Stonehenge.
Ty Pren Bach sleeps 5 people in two bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with a single bed and a full size bunk bed. Bed linen and towels are provided. There is a well equipped kitchen with electric hobs and oven, fridge, and dishwasher, a sitting room with three double sofas, a TV with integral DVD player and lovely views of the Preseli hills, a separate dining room, family bathroom with shower over the bath and a utility room with washing machine. There is ample level parking, a rear patio area with a landscaped garden that looks out on Foel Cwmcyrwen the highest point of the Preseli Hills. Ty Pren Bach, like a bungalow, is a single storey property with two low steps at the entrance leading to the entrance hall. From here all the rooms are accessed on one level. The property is fully central heated and has hot water on demand.
The nearby village of Maenclochog, which means ‘Stone bells’, has two shops, petrol stations with service facilities, a post office and pub all within walking distance of the property.
  • Great place to get away from it all and enjoy some peace and quiet. Best shower I’ve ever had at an Airbnb and the dogs loved having lots of gardens to play in. Friendly hosts and beautiful location.

  • We made a last minute decision to visit Pembrokeshire for the weekend, booking in at very short notice. Mike and Alison were very prompt in their response to my booking query and also very clear with their instructions. The accommodation was in a beautiful setting, overlooking Preseli Hills (stunning outlook). All the home comforts were provided including lovely touches such Welsh Cakes and Milk for tea. Loved the board games (plenty to choose from). Cooking facilities with all utensils one could need (inc. condiments) made for a great Pizza & Prosecco/Beer evening after we were out and about. To sum it up, friendly hosts, great accommodation and a fantastic weekend break!

  • We had a wonderful stay at Mike and Alison’s. The location was beautiful and on a clear night the stars were fabulous! The place was clean, cosy and had lovely little touches with everything you could need! If we are ever in the area again we will definitely be back 😊

A remote unique gem, idyllically situated on the banks of a mountain stream in the heart of the wild unspoilt beauty of the Preseli Hills.. just 20mins from the the Pembrokeshire Coast Path.. with magical off-grid simplicity Rebecca offers something truly different..
With comfortable simplicity, eco-sustainability and no mod cons Rebecca offers something truly different - a magical getaway in stunning rural surroundings. The absence of electricity with its busy reminder of modern life allows for unusual peace and tranquillity and a real connection with the abundant wildlife here, giving the opportunity for a wonderful holiday/adventure whilst leaving a satisfyingly light footprint. Ideal for walking, (hills, shores, coast path), mountain biking, stargazing, birdwatching, botanising, dreaming, romantic break, retreat..or simply chilling. Rebecca is on its own, about 50 meters from our house and invisible from it.
It's beautifully remote and off the beaten track, yet within easy reach of the coast and some charming small towns. Our immediate neighbourhood comprises a few farms across the fields, moorland, marsh and mountain. We live down a rough track off a small country lane. You can walk straight out onto the hills and lanes. Or you can drive to any point on the unbeatable Pembrokeshire Coast Path, or to eat out at any number of cafes, pubs and restaurants, in Newport (Pembs), Narberth (interesting shops as well), Cardigan, Fishguard or Haverfordwest - all equidistant at about 13 - 14 miles away. The small ex quarry village of Rosebush is 4 miles away with a pub and tearooms. The Fishguard - Rosslare ferry is 14miles away and day trips are possible in high season; or we are very convenient for a stopover on the way to or from Ireland. For activities there are pony trekking facilities, Pembrokeshire's Blue Lagoon, mountain bikes to hire, Folly Farm, Oakwood etc. From Tenby you can take a short boat ride to Caldy Island: Skockolme and Skomer Islands are visitable weather conditions permitting. You can take boat trips to see dolphins in Cardigan Bay. And much more.
  • Amazing hideaway, peaceful, perfect place to get away from it all and reset!

  • Rebecca is fantastic and exactly what we hoped for - the perfect getaway from the city. Beautifully quiet except for the trickling of the stream, private and as far from the beaten track as you could hope while still being within easy driving distance of some wonderful beaches, sites and towns. Miranda as a host was fantastic and the hut itself was more then we could have hoped for. We will definitely look back with fondness on the memories of cooking over the fire, next to the stream with no outside distractions. Wonderful and would definitely stay again.

  • Rebecca is a beautiful shepherds hut in a lovely peaceful location! The stream is fabulous to sit by and have a glass of wine and we loved cooking on the fire pit, although some things we cooked in the hut on the gas which was really useful. The bed is so cosy and comfy, and the log burner in the hut made it so toasty. The compost loo hut was super sweet, beautifully decorated, with fresh flowers! We loved washing outside and paddling in the stream. It was a lovely few days and we would recommend to anyone!

A pretty stone cottage with gardens and stream in a peaceful wooded valley near the Preseli hills. Ideal for exploring Pembrokeshire, with a large double room and small bedroom with a narrow full length chair bed, bathroom, shower room, living room, kitchen/ breakfast room and utility. Not suitable for pets.
The cottage was built in about 1901 for a worker in the local slate quarry, We've kept the flagstone floors and narrow cottage stairs, but updated it to create a clean, comfortable home with exceptional privacy and tranquility.
The house is in a wooded valley set in farmland at the foot of the Preseli hills. All around are footpaths and bridleways, chapels and ancient churches, and there are wonderful walks across the hills and on the beautiful coastal path. There are two garages, a café and a pub in the village and you can buy almost anything you need in Sarah's shop and post office. If you want to eat out you'll have to go further afield though.
  • A wonderful, cosy and exceptionally well equipped cottage. Excellent communication and location. It was just what we needed and highly recommended.

    Nicki2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • The house is delightful and has everything required for a comfortable stay. The garden is lovely and there are superb walks all around without having to drive anywhere.

  • The cottage is clean and comfortable. It has heating if necessary and has all the equipment you could possibly want. The location is restful. The garden is interesting and full of birdsong and there are superb walks all around. So peaceful.

  • This is a lovely place to stay: peaceful and full of birdsong. It’s a mile or so from the village which has an amazing post office which sells everything. However Briony has thought of most things and they are at hand in the cottage. It is a cosy place and we were very comfortable. The log fire was great. We enjoyed an excellent Sunday lunch at Tafarn Sinc at Rosebush but best to book.

    Kathy2019-04-15T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful, characteristic cottage hidden in a stunning location with great walks right out of the front door. With everything supplied a self catering couple or family could need you will find the experience at Briony’s cottage reviving. A true gem in the Preseli hills. Thank you Briony.

  • A cute and cosy cottage nestled in the Preseli Hills, in a good position to explore all corners of Pembrokeshire. The area itself is lovely with a walk along a river you can do from the house. The cottage is equipped with everything that you’d need with thoughtful extras too. Briony was a friendly and communicative host, and we’d definitely consider going back next time we’re in the area.

Idyllic detached hideaway set in the heart of Pembrokeshire, at the foot of the Preseli Hills & National Park. Zero traffic! Sleeps two in sympathetically converted 17th century Welsh stone longhouse located on owners' smallholding. Danclawdd is ideally placed for exploring north & south of this stunning county. Perfect for hiking, cycling, chilling, exploring, photography, culture. Central heating, king sized bed, free wifi, log burner, parking, currently no pets due to location in farming land.
A private, secluded fully equipped holiday cottage set at the foot of the Preseli Hills in Pembrokeshire, with spectacular views towards the highest point in the county and walks to the National Park right from your front door. Danclawdd was converted in 2013 from a stone built Welsh longhouse; a longhouse was a traditional one-roomed property usually on a farm and this one dates back to approx 17th century. Now, the cottage has all the comforts of a modern space yet with charm and individuality. Wooden floors, local artwork on the walls and the option of local food hampers all contribute to make your stay more comfortable. The totally self-contained accommodation is located next door to the owners' Welsh stone cottage, at the end of a private track with zero traffic noise and pitch black skies perfect for star gazing or astro-photography. It offers a bright, airy cooking/dining/living space complete with Swedish log burner for chillier evenings. There will be a basket of logs etc to start you off (2-3 burns) and further supplies can easily be bought at the village shop/garage. There is a spacious bedroom with king sized bed and a bathroom with thermostatically controlled shower over the bath. All linen is provided apart from beach towels. We also offer oil fired central heating, free wi-fi and a supply of sundries to get you started on your holiday. The cottage has a washing machine, dishwasher, cooker/hob, microwave, nespresso machine, kettle, toaster and a full range of crockery and cooking utensils. It is all located on one level so is very easily accessible. I live on the smallholding with my husband, our 2 cats and 10 pet sheep in our paddocks so am on hand if you need me for any issues.
At the bottom of our driveway is a path that leads you directly into the Pembrokeshire National Park and up into the Preseli Hills. The hills are fantastic for walking, but also for fell running (events take place each year), mountain biking and horse riding. The highest point in Pembrokeshire can be reached on foot from the cottage and offers stunning views and chance for sunset or sunrise photography options. There is a massive diversity of wildlife, birds and flora & fauna within the hills and the surrounding area. Close to us is Tafern Cinc, an historic pub that served the slate mines and miners of the hills through the ages. The Preseli Hills have a rich culture of myths and legends with standing stones and stone circles dotted around their expanse and are of great interest to geologists and historians. The road from Maenclochog to Cardigan crosses the very ridge of the hills and is the nearest thing we have found to spectacular Scottish vistas in the heart of West Wales! The viewpoint at Foel Eryr offers the chance to see up to Snowdonia on a clear day and across to Ireland. Around Pembrokeshire there is a multitude of places to visit and things to do or see. Alongside the Preseli Hills you can access the glorious Pembrokeshire coastal path from Danclawdd with relative ease. The north of the country offers rugged heights and sweeping scenery whereas the south has softer edges yet equally inspiring vistas. The coastline can be reached within around 20 minutes (north) and 40 minutes (south). The UK's smallest city of St David's is around 40 minutes drive away and is a unique experience. Visit the cathedral and then head out to St David's Head for some coastal air and amazing views across to Ramsey Island. Birdwatchers will also love Danclawdd for the wide variety of species on the doorstep but also for its easy access to RSPB locations such as Skomer Island and Ramsey Island. Spot the puffins along with seals and dolphins off the shorelines. The information pack within the cottage offers some more ideas of places we love to visit, along with leaflets and ample maps/walking routes to help you plan your stay with us. Our closest town shopping spot is the quaint market town of Narberth. This is a vibrant little community with tea shops, butchers, specialist giftware shops, eateries and all the essentials you could need. Narberth has an annual food festival in the Autumn that attracts over 60 stall holders and showcases the wonderful food the area produces. On the subject of food we could wax lyrical about the amazing meat available from local farmers and farm shops - in fact we can arrange a welcome meat box if you'd like us to to get you started. Similarly we could list our favourite places to eat - but we offer a full information and recommendations pack within the cottage and are on hand to give you any ideas if you'd like us to. One place to visit for sure is the beachside Cafe Mor (in season only) - award winning food cooked fresh to order from a shack at Freshwater West in the south. Lobster rolls are the food of the gods! Danclawdd is ideal for you if you're a walker but also ideal for those training for triathlons or fell running events (check out the 24 mile Preseli Beast that starts and ends in the village each May - it is seriously tough!). The annual Ironman Wales is an international event and the cottage lies some 8 miles from the cycle route through Narberth so is an ideal training base. The cottage is also great for just relaxing and taking things easy; we hope that you are just as comfortable spending an evening reading or listening to music in it as you are learning about what is around the county.

Immaculately clean , well furnished with a lovely wood burner etc our stay was fantastic right from the start when Emma greeted us .. Location is great where we did some walking nearby in the Presilli Hills and further afield such as around the Peninsula at St. David's .. Perfect place for a great relaxing holiday .. well worth the visit . Many thanks again Catherine & Rich

  • Lovely, cosy cottage, has everything you could want including a wonderful log burner, lovely TV and sofa. It is quite far away from anything (which we considered a good thing, but important to know!), and surrounded by beautiful countryside. Hosts were lovely and helpful, everything as expected and shown in the listing, definitely recommend for a cosy welsh retreat!

    Martin2019-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful place to stay. Emma has thought of everything and has gone the extra mile to make the cottage feel like a home.

    Jessica2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay in the national park area with stunning views and walks on tap. Not too far from market towns of Narberth and Newport. Emma was a very good host with lots of local tips and the accommodation itself had everything needed and more! Very comfortable visit.

    Ben2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Danclawdd is in a peaceful spot in the countryside but not far away at all from all of the Pembrokeshire coastline. The cottage is a lovely well furnished space with everything that you need from a comfy king sized bed, great shower, modern tv (inc Netflix) and more. Emma is a friendly and communicative host and there is plenty of info at the cottage for places to see and things to do. Do visit the local village cafe and the pub down the road at Rosebush. The views from the Preseli hills are stunning.

    Diane2019-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you very much for your welcome and your advice. We enjoyed our stay in your lovely cottage which allowed us to relax after our hikes. Everything was perfect, thank you again, we’ll keep à great memory of our stay.

    Agnés2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Peaceful with style would be the watchwords for Emma's Cottage. Emma is the perfect host and her own guidebook for the area turned out to be the perfect reference and go to manual for our stay. It has everything from instructions for the coffee maker to beautiful coastal walks and excursions. If you are looking for a calm and peaceful setting then this is perfect place.

    John2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely place to stay with friendly, welcoming hosts. As well as all the essentials there are loads of extra touches including: maps, guides and personal recommendations of places to visit; books, games and dvds for when you're staying in; and tupperware in the kitchen so you can take food with you when you're out walking! It's spacious for two people with a good sized bedroom, a great bathroom (with very powerful shower) and an open plan kitchen and living area with high ceiling. There's also a utility area/ boot room entrance space which is brilliant for taking off your outdoor gear when you return after a day out. It's well placed to explore different parts of Pembrokeshire (we loved the beaches) and there are also walks straight from the house. We would definitely recommend!

Our pretty cottage is in the small village of Rosebush in the Preseli Hills, North Pembs. It’s great for walkers, cycling, bird watching and simply relaxing in the peace and quiet. The original cottage dates from the 1870’s to which we've added an extension with a lovely spacious day room, where you can cook, dine and relax in armchairs overlooking the beautiful view. We're a stones throw from Tafarn Sinc, an historic pub providing a warm welcome and good food. We welcome up to two dogs.
The cottage backs on to fields and a small children's playground-very safe and handy to keep children entertained..it has a lovely terrace overlooking the Preseli Hills where you can watch the sun go down. There's a second cosy sitting room with log burner and 2 sofas, a handy utility room with additional fridge and 2 bathrooms (one on each floor). The house is light, airy and comfortable and great to relax whatever the weather. The Cottage is approached by steps and therefore unfortunately is not suitable for disabled access. There is a parking space for two cars opposite the cottage on the private road.
The cottage gives easy access to a host of beautiful beaches such as Cardigan Bay, where you can take boat trips to see Dolphins and Seals, and Newport Sands, a beautiful long sandy beach with a fantastic range of pubs and cafes close by. You can go mountain biking, sea kayaking, co-steering and surfing nearby, or go for some relaxed fishing at the nearby lake, Llys-Y-Fran. From our cottage it is a 50 minute walk directly to the highest peak in Pembs, Foel Cwm Cerwyn , No need to use the car! Rosebush is a cul de sac village and is therefore very safe for children. Nearby is the site from which the Stonehenge stones originated. Other attractions a short drive away are Bluestone, Oakwood, Folly Farm and Heatherton world of adventure. The village of Maenclochog is a 2 minute drive away, where there are amenities including a local shop, post office, fuel station, pub and café, as well as a number of other local businesses.
  • The house is first rate and the locality offers so many opportunities to explore some real Welsh gems; from hill walking to the Gwaun Valley, from stone circles to bleeding yews at picturesque Nevern, from the historic Fishguard to the isolated beauty of Dinas Head, and from the falls at Cenarth to the market town bustle of Cardigan, the locality is brimming with off-the-beaten-track chances to discover some wonderful spots that ooze historical significance and special scenery. We loved the place and the area and would recommend it to anyone, especially for family and friends weekends and gatherings. A beautifully appointed place with first class facilities-we will be booking and going back again soon.

    Mike2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great few days stay over Halloween. The house was very clean and welcoming and a great space to relax with a superb view over the hills from the lounge. The large open area of kitchen, lounge and dining area worked very well as a communal relaxed place where we spent most of our time. The separate lounge was a good option for a breakaway to watch TV or for some private space. The house is in a fascinating old village with ruined buildings from the old quarry adding to the atmosphere. We went to the local pub, the Tafarn Zinc, for a Halloween party and had a warm welcome and good value tasty food - it's literally only a minute's walk away as well which is a bonus. Scolton Manor, only a few minutes drive away, is a great choice for a trip with children with an impressive play park and a manor house where they put on special entertainment for children. A good rainy day option.

    Graham2019-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • This was the perfect base for a family holiday. The house is spacious, with a large kitchen/diner/lounge and another lounge with TV and fire. The three bedrooms are comfy and there are two full bathrooms. The house was spotlessly clean. There are lovely views from the house across the valley. Outside there is a pretty sunny garden and beyond that, there is a village playground which children can access without having to cross a road. The village itself is lovely two, with friendly neighbours, a pub for food and drinks and a dairy selling delicious local cheese (also the local post office). From Rosebush we could easily drive to lovely beaches, hill walks, places to canoe and ride horses, and towns with good shops, cafes, etc. We highly recommend this holiday house.

    Phil2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • The house is much larger than it looks, beautifully decorated. A private terrace with small garden to play in. Quite far from places but that’s the trade for stunning views. All round great place to stay

    Becky2019-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is indeed deceptively spacious, having been extensively added to in a very sympathetic and stylish way that still preserves its roots as a workman's cottage. All of the fittings and finishes are of high standard and all wants are catered for. The view out of the back of the property is delightful, especially when the weather is good. Highly recommended.

    Nicholas2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • The house is very comfortable and there is plenty of room for a large family or a group of friends. The kitchen is very well equipped and spacious with stunning views of the Preseli Hills. There is a large terrace and a pretty garden. The location is peaceful and remote but there is a strong sense of a local community. People are very helpful and kind.

    Renee2019-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • This gorgeous cottage has outstanding views and loads of space. We were two families and there was plenty of room for both the adults and children to relax. The area is so peaceful yet not far from the coast (try Newport Sands) or lovely towns (try Narberth and Fishguard). There’s a pub next door and a shop and amazing cafe in the next village, a few minutes drive away. The area is safe and suitable for families (there’s actually a park at the bottom of the garden!) and there are lots of walks, cycle routes on old forestry tracks with no traffic. We’ll definitely be back!

    Andy2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Cosy and comfortable. Nice rural location. Very comfy beds and the cabin was very well equipped with all we needed. Lovely outdoor space for dogs. Not entirely secure so didn't let our lurcher off lead there due to sheep in next field. I'm sure for dogs with better recall it would be doggie heaven. Thanks for a lovely relaxing stay.

    Michelle2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic little cabin in a beautiful setting. The grounds are amazing, especially the field where we could let the dog off lead (much bigger than expected!). Our dog doesn't get to go off lead a lot due to being reactive, and he's had the best time. Lots of suggested walks and pubs etc around the area, we only managed to explore a couple so will definitely be back!

  • Really enjoyed my short stay at Grassholm log cabin. It was very clean, cosy and comfortable and had everything I needed for my stay.

    Brian2019-11-07T00:00:00Z
  • My son and I had a lovely 3 night stay at Grassholm log cabin. It was just perfect for what we needed, close to the beaches and mountains of beautiful West Wales. We will be back! Thank you.

  • It was a really great place. With beautiful surrounding countryside and easily accessible to other nearby areas and beaches of extremes beauty. The log cabin was perfectly suitable to what we wanted and needed. And the little touches Sue provided was a nice welcome and surprise.

  • This beautiful cabin is in a wonderful location, with scenic views. Check in was super easy and hosts were very friendly. Had lovely day trips to Tenby and cardigan, but also there is great walks in distance of the cabin. Would very recommend going to The Sloop for some delicious pub grub. Overall had a brilliant stay.

  • A beautiful, cosy cabin in a perfect location to explore the north of Pembrokeshire. Lovely views from the cabin. Very welcoming hosts. Unfortunately there is a puppy/dog farm next door which was pretty noisy at times. Lots of barking throughout the day and night. I definitely recommend taking a set of ear plugs with you so you can sleep. Apart from that a great, relaxing stay. Thank you.

    Jess2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great experience. The cabin is immaculately clean, very well-equipped, charming and comfortable, with lovely views of the nearby reservoir and its little woodland setting. Sue is a very friendly, hospitable host, and Sue and John have clearly put a lot of love and care into the design, layout, decor, furnishings, equipment and welcome, which makes it a really special place.

    Gavin2019-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful hosts and a wonderful cabin! Has all the amenities you need for a comfortable stay and you definitely feel like you’re in a log cabin in the woods. Pembrokeshire is absolutely stunning. I recommend a day up at Ffald-y-Brenin (15 mins away) if you get the chance!

    Matt2019-11-23T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful little cabin in the woods completely back to nature! Sue was a fantastic host and the Cabin is gorgeous - absolutely what you need for a back to basics getaway

    Laura2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • It is a nice cabin in a beautiful location, which was just the right amount of “remote” for us. It is easily accessed from the road but hidden in the trees, so there’s complete privacy. The cabin is petite but comfy and had everything we needed. The cell reception is patchy in the area, so can properly unplug and unwind. The drives are picturesque and there’re walking, cycling and horse riding trails nearby.

Gwar-y-coed is a detached, very comfortable stone farmhouse in a quiet rural location facing south and with views to the preseli hills from the rear garden. Located at the north end of llys-y-fran reservoir, it is a perfect base for walkers, cyclists and nature lovers. I will welcome guest on arrival, and be available for any information guests may need.
Gwar y Coed is off the beaten track, approximately a mile from the main road. A very peaceful and quiet location, surrounded by farm land. There is a diverse wildlife population to view and the beautiful garden attracts many insects, butterflies and dragon flies.

This cute writer's cabin is snug all year round and set in the heart of Pembrokeshire so easy to both coasts and all the best beaches. Set down its own track you'll have privacy and amazing views, a veranda and woodburners! WIFI but not for streaming/downloading Close to Pembrokeshire Coastal Path, parks, the beach. You’ll love my place because of the location, views, and cosiness. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and furry friends (pets) can stay for a small fee £15 per pet
Stay in my traditional 1930s Pembrokeshire 'tin' cottage and explore one of the most beautiful areas of Great Britain. What's included? Basically just bring yourselves, and food and drink. The bed is made ready for you with 100% cotton linen, towels & teatowels provided, fresh dishcloth every time (and washing up liquid, and liquid soap, and first few toilet rolls). First basket of logs (and kindling, paper, matches) for the woodburner. The kitchen is equipped. All you need is to relax, get out on the veranda with your drink of choice, and soak in the huge open view. You can easily access the beaches on the South or West coasts of Pembrokeshire, walk the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park footpath or walk from the door to Llys Y Fran country park (lake). You can hire a bike at the country park or enjoy the cafe. See the beaches at Tenby, the foodie shops at nearby Narberth or beautiful St Davids. The cottage is very well insulated and heated by two woodburners and also electric heaters in every room. There is a shower in the bathroom. You get the whole cottage, pivately situated down a track with big open views of the Pembrokeshire countryside. The cottage, newly renovated with new tin, insulated, double glazing on the 1920s windows etc, and two woodburners (one inside, one on the veranda) as well as a small kitchen and shower room. The bedroom has one double bed and a hammock on the veranda for summer evenings. Nearby you'll find small market towns, good restaurants, great walking and the country park at Llys Y Fran just a couple of fields away. You can walk to an off-road 4x4 centre for a fun day out. Signed footpaths start on the edge of your field. This is a great location for dogs - you've a couple of acres of enclosed land away from any roads. Nearest train station is Clarbeston Road (6 miles). Hairdryer included. WIFI is available but might be limited - not for downloading/streaming and there is mobile phone signal on 3, 02, EE, Orange, T-mobile, Vodaphone - we haven't tried others but probably all networks fine. Interaction with Guests I live in Cardiff but I have a local housekeeper who manages the property - very private setup, with keysafe entry etc so late arrival is OK. Nobody to hassle you :) The property manager and housekeeper live locally if required. The Neighbourhood This is the one of the finest landscapes in the UK, and the least-spoiled. If you haven't been here before you'll be amazed by the beaches, warmed by the local welcome, and relaxed by the laid-back feeling. It really is an amazing area, and if I ever choose to move back to the UK there's only one place I'd consider - right here. Buy stylish local blankets at Melin Tregwynt Getting Around Nearest train station is 6 miles at Clarbeston Road. To be honest you may be better off with a car in this location. Other Things to Note I'll consider longterm let to writers
  • I had a wonderful week’s stay, and really hope I can do the same again another time (I might even let my husband join me next time). Sitting on the veranda, watching the sunset was a real pleasure. The cabin is cosy and beautifully secluded, but not too far from civilisation if you want some, and the perfect place for me to get heaps of reading done. I have come home completely refreshed. Greg was a fantastic host and very friendly. The information to help me find the cabin was incredibly helpful on my arrival day, as was the local info provided. Many, many thanks.

  • Even in storm David an irresistible place. Cosy, stylish, smart and brilliantly presented with a very comfy bed and two wood burners. The cottages are all beautiful...the studio is the smallest...and hidden away on the edge of the moor...private and ideal for couples or single people...or for a retreat... Trallwyn Bach cottage studio has a small living area, a small kitchen...and a very small shower room with loo and sink with limited head room in the shower...and a big bed overlooking the moor where wild ponies + sheep graze. It is a beautiful + quirky place to stay...and most importantly has a small woodstove! We do have larger cottages if you prefer more space...the studio is our smallest place to stay... Trallwyn Bach has wifi but the mobile reception is poor in this area... Anna offers pottery tuition to guests staying which is a fun way to spend a rainy day...the prices are on her website...Please note pottery is available between April and September. I love the magic of the hills...the wildness of the country...the everchanging colours of the landscape...the stones...skylarks...the beautiful sunsets...the peace and tranquility... I also love making pottery and teaching others how to throw pots on the wheel or make them by hand...
  • I really enjoyed my stay here, it's a fantastic space for a solo traveller, situated amongst some great scenery. The walks were brilliant and it was always a nice feeling to return to such a relaxing place afterwards.

  • Spent three lovely evenings nestled in Anna's cosy studio. We especially loved the view overlooking the moor and making log fires.

    Melissa2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderfully idyllic stay. Reading by candle light and a log fire, then looking out at the beautiful view. We could have stayed for months and been happy. We will definitely be returning. Anna was very helpful and all the details were thought of. Thank you again.

    Lottie2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • The little studio was very cosy and its surroundings were beautiful. While we never met Anna face to face, she communicated everything we needed to know and had everything in the studio ready & waiting for us! It’s good to note that the inside space is really very tiny, which caused a few bangings of limbs into things for my partner who is a big man – however I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone.

Mynachlog-ddu , Preseli Hills, Pembrokeshire, United Kingdom

Tynewydd (Newhouse) is a traditional Welsh cottage with modern conveniences, nestled in the rural heart of Pembrokeshire: just outside the village of Walton East, close to Llys y Frân reservoir. The house is centrally located, so within easy reach of Pembrokeshire's north, south and west coasts. There are countless castles, cairns, burial chambers and other historic sites to explore. And the breath-taking Preseli Mountains (popular with cyclists and walkers) are just 10 minutes’ drive away.
Tynewydd is Welsh for Newhouse. And the cottage is known by both these names, which seems appropriate, as the house sits on (or near to) the Landsker Line: the invisible linguistic boundary between the mostly Welsh-speaking north and east of Pembrokeshire, and the mostly English-speaking south and west. Tynewydd is a typical Pembrokeshire stone cottage, a few hundred years old, but with modern conveniences: wi-fi, bath and shower, central heating throughout, gas-hob cooker with electric oven, etc. There is an airy open-plan kitchen/diner/lounge area on the ground floor, with parquet flooring throughout, and a carpeted cwtsh/snug room off the side for relaxing with a good book or a DVD. There's also a desk with an ethernet port in case you need to plug in your laptop. Up the spiral stairs from the lounge you'll find a twin bedroom and a double bedroom, both well-lit with Velux windows, and with ample storage. The mature lawned garden is beautiful all year round, and a fenced and gated area directly in front of the house makes a safe space for young children or well-behaved pets to enjoy. The surrounding countryside is rich with history and beautiful scenery, with the county towns and villages just a short drive away. The nearest pub is a five minute drive down the road, and the nearest shops are about 10 minutes away. We're more than happy to offer tips and advice on how best to enjoy your stay in Pembrokeshire. (Or, of course, to leave you to discover it for yourself!)
The area of central Pembrokeshire where Tynewydd is situated was historically known as the Hundred of Dungleddy (an anglicization of Dau Gleddau – Two Cleddaus). It remains rural and agricultural in character, and following the industrialization of farming methods, it probably has even fewer people living in its villages today than were to be found a hundred years ago. Potatoes, oilseed rape, wheat and barley are grown on the arable land to the south. Much of the rest is given over to dairy pasture, with smaller-scale sheep-farming becoming increasingly common as you approach the rocky moorland of the Preseli Mountains to the north. Since the advent of automobiles, Dungleddy has become the perfect central location from which to explore all that Pembrokeshire has to offer. The village of Walton East, just south of Tynewydd, is named after a Norman landowner, Walter de Wale; while nearby Clarbeston Road began life much later as a post-town on the railway, so named because it was on the road to Clarbeston (itself thought to be named after a German/Flemish man called Clarenbald). There is in fact a Walton West down toward the coast, near Broad Haven West. There are several posited theories about the etymology of the county town of Haverfordwest. Whether or not there exists somewhere a “Haverfordeast” would depend upon which of those you believe.
  • Very lovely house located in the quite countryside. The house is well organised and we found lots of helpfull advice, maps, books… Many places to visit around. We had a great stay.

  • The cottage was extremely cosy. Alex went above and beyond with providing information, there was a massive welcome booklet with the history of the house and in order of time to get there a list of places to visit and what’s there. Really quiet and peaceful location and the garden was beautiful, the house itself was cosy yet spacious. very clean on arrival and a few nice touches like welsh cakes and logs to light the fire with. Would highly recommend Alex’s cottage!! if you are looking for a peaceful getaway but a central location to get out and explore then this is absolutely perfect

  • Lovely little property tucked away about 10/15 mins from Haverfordwest centre. Pictures don’t do it justice! Super friendly hosts and always very responsive to any messages you send! Didn’t have the chance to meet them but did meet the lovely gardener who happened to be there one day when we stayed! Enclosed garden at the back ideal for dogs and kids! The house is really open and lovely, great snug area to watch a huge collection of DVDs provided! Open fire was lovely in the cold weather and Alex provided us with an extra bag of logs as it was a bit chilly!! Beds are super comfy, lovely linen as well which is a must for me!! Lovely big TV on the wall upstairs which you don’t find in many of these sort of properties. Could do with a few more bits and bobs in the kitchen I.e. extra pan or two, some scissors etc but really didn’t compromise our stay at all! Also a shame the front of the property isn’t gated as our dogs were dying to get out on the front lawns! Lovely views from the upstairs windows of uninterrupted beautiful welsh countryside!! Overall, a beautiful property, super cheap compared to similar properties and really was a wonderful holiday. One of our best welsh holidays so far! We loved it so much we are coming back again in a few weeks time to make the most of our time off! Thanks again Alex 😁😁

Cartref (house name meaning Home) is a private property situated between the villages of Efailwen and Crymych and within 3 miles of the Preseli Hills, with great walks and beautiful scenery. The property is a terraced house and is in a convenient location for visiting the Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion coast. There is ample choice of places to visit within half an hour of the property e.g Cardigan, Narberth, Newport, Tenby and Laugharne. A car is essential for making the most of your visit.
Pembrokeshire is an unique place and is well worth a visit. What I can offer you in Cartref is an insight based on local knowledge of the best places to visit during your stay. Having walked the Pembrokeshire coast path myself I can recommend the best stretches of coast to visit eg. everyone should visit Barafundle at least once! Having lived all my life amidst the Preseli Hills I can also advise on walks for all abilities within 5 miles of the property. The area is also popular with cyclists and is situated near Route 47. Horse riding, swimming and golf as well as parks such as Folly Farm, Bluestone are all within close proximity. The aim is to ensure that your holiday is stress free in a comfortable, affordable property and while we can’t arrange the weather, all other needs will be catered for. • We have just spend a lovely night here. We just needed an overnight stay close to Cardigan and this was perfect. The house is beautifully clean and stylishly decorated. There were some Welsh Cakes and a bottle of milk in the fridge waiting for us which was a lovely surprise. Great value for money. We'll definitely be back when we need to come that way again.

  • Brilliant communication and the house was perfect inside, would recommend for a family as the amenities were great! Especially the dryer for a quick turn around of kids clothes after beach!! Beds were so comfy and whole house was furnished very well!!

  • Beautiful home, so cosy. Llinos even went to put the heating on for us before arrival as she knew the house would be cold. It's literally a home from home. Plenty of tea and coffee, pots/pans/plates etc. There was even a pack of beautiful Welsh cakes waiting for us on arrival. Thank you so much for your hospitality, and communication before we arrived. We will definitely be back.

Peace and privacy: a stone cottage in a secluded wooded valley, with lawns and woodland leading down to a stream. Guests have their own front door, a cosy sitting room with flagstones and log-burning stove, TV, FreeSat and DVD, and a shower room downstairs. Narrow cottage stairs up to a double bedroom with private bathroom and a small single bedroom ideal for a child. Breakfast included, car essential. Not suitable for pets.
The single bedroom has a chairbed that opens to a narrow full-length bed. The sitting room connects to our kitchen where we'll provide breakfast.
Llandilo is in a valley with a stream running down from the Preseli hills to the River Cleddau. Around us are green hills, farms, cottages and ancient churches. 1.5 miles away down narrow lanes the village of Maenclochog has a pub, shop and garage. Newport is less than 30 minutes north, and Tenby is about 40 minutes south. There are wonderful walks in the Preselis: we are just outside the National Park
  • Briony was a helpful and thoughtful host. After a long drive, we arrived in the dark. Briony’s directions were essential in finding the house. Also helpful was the fact that the outdoor porch light was on. The wood burner was on when we arrived, which made it feel very cosy. Having a cup of tea in front of the wood burner was very nice after a long time on the road. Good night sleep and good breakfast. Even though it was short, thanks for a lovely stay!

    Margriet2019-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • A gorgeous, cosy old cottage in an idyllic situation. Briony was a perfect host and the breakfast provided was great. Stayed two nights and could easily have stayed a lot longer. Loved it!

Our holiday cottage is an upside down barn conversion on our smallholding on the side of the Preseli hills in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. It has it's own garden and guests are free explore the farm, there is also access directly onto the hills. We are five miles from the picturesque seaside resort of Newport and ten miles from Fishguard. Whether you are looking to go walking, cycling, horse riding or just exploring our stunning county, we are the ideal base.
Access is via steps to the first floor where you will find and open plan kitchen, diner and lounge. Downstairs there is a double bedroom, a bunk room and a shower room. In the barn next door there is a washer-drier and plenty of space for storing bikes.
We are in the heart of traditional Welsh hill farming. There aren't many people around but those who are, are very friendly.
  • Gernos Fawr is a beautiful cosy cottage in a wonderful location. Very well equipped kitchen, lovely snuggly beds - and fresh eggs to welcome us. Thanks so much, Penny & Ian.

    Almut2019-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • Penny and Ian are lovely, and the cottage is basic but beautiful. Shower was hot, sofa was comfy, kitchen equipped with all you need including decent sized bowls and plates! As a base to explore the Pembrokeshire coast and surrounding countryside, I think you will be hard pushed to find somewhere offering the same value for money. Outside, the cottage has lovely views and a bbq area with a fire pit. At night, sitting outside and roasting a few marshmallows with the family in the middle of nowhere was just lovely. The cottage inside is really nice and cosy, just what you need after a long day at one of the nearby beaches. Our favourite beach was Poppit Sands. Absolutely brilliant for families as the beach is massive and can confidently give the kids frisbees, balls and spinners without much worry that they will hit anyone! Parking is right by the beach and there is a nice little cafe serving the usual paninis / baguettes etc Mwnt was another beach we really liked with some decent waves for body boarding. Other things we enjoyed were Oakwood (although queuing time was fairly ridiculous on certain rides), feeding the sheep at the farm with Penny, and taking a dip in the stream (also at the farm). Overall, we couldn't have asked for more from our stay, I hope we will be back soon!

    Duncan2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at Penny & Ian’s farm in the remote hills of Pembrokeshire. The kids loved the dogs, sheep, chickens and ducks. We did a number of walks in the area and further afield (St David’s and Dinas Island) along the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path, there’s information in the cottage for them all. Newport Sands provides an amazing beach nearby with lifeguards and oodles of space. The cottage is homely and the kids loved the bunk beds. We happily spent a (very) rainy day at the cottage playing board games (there are a few there, we brought our own as well) and watching a DVD or 2. Would not hesitate to book again !

    Jasper2019-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for peace and quiet, rural beauty, unspoilt countryside and an escape from it all - this is the place to be! We loved our stay and it was hard to leave - especially great for children of all ages. Nothing but sheep and babbling streams for miles around...bliss. Thanks for a great stay Penny & Ian, we will be back next year!

    Anna2019-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • Penny has thought of everything, we weren't wanting for anything. We desperately needed to fall off the edge of the planet to recharge our batteries and Gernos Fawr allowed us to do that. Plenty of walks from your doorstep, we went fishing in New Quay, kayaking in St Davids, horse trekking near Newport and visited many picturesque beaches. A wonderful week.

    Mariam2019-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • If you want to get away from it all THIS is the place! This small cottage down a long track through farm land is absolutely idyllic. It is wonderfully peaceful and when the sun shone we sat outside and enjoyed how quiet it was. We went with our 2 year old son who had great fun playing in the stream that runs across the bottom of the farm, petting the dogs and very tame sheep on the farm as well as getting up close to the ducks and chickens. The cottage will comfortably fit a family of four and the kitchen is really well stocked with all equipment/utensils you could need. There is a washing machine and space to dry items inside and out which was very useful for us. It is a short drive to the small, beautiful costal town of Newport which has a good selection of eateries, a great butchers and a Spa shop. We did one of a few circular walks that start and finish at the cottage which was beautiful. Penny and Ian were lovely hosts who made us feel very welcome and allowed us to roam the farm freely. We even got to sample some of the chicken and duck eggs - delicious! If you want a quiet spot that celebrates Pembrokeshire’s beauty, that is great for young kids, with warm hosts...book it!

    Susie2019-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • A converted barn, on a small farm, in a beautiful quiet setting in moorland not far from the Pembrokeshire coast. We had a fantastic time and our hosts were incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. Thank you for providing us with the means to having the perfect relaxing break that we so badly needed!!

    Andrew2019-05-14T00:00:00Z
  • Penny's place is beautiful, set in the most peaceful location I have ever stayed. Along with Ian, they are the perfect hosts, allowing us to help feed the lamb was just magical. If you want a perfect location for a holiday in North Pembrokeshire, look no further, you've found it

Wonderful setting...cheap and very cheerful lone caravan in a small field...with views of the Preseli Hills! It is a caravan with charm! It sleeps 2 adults in the lounge area which becomes a double bed + 2 children in narrow bunks. It is the only caravan here - although there maybe one tent as well occasionally and sometimes at busy times a few cars parked. There is also Pottery tuition available at Ashera Pottery Workshop.
Our caravan is has the most amazing view! The location is great for getting out and exploring Pembrokeshire. It has seating and sleeping + also electricity which runs the lights and a small fridge, kettle + toaster. It does not have gas cooking facilities at the moment. It is a simple affair with a tap closeby to get your water supplies. There is a shared toilet and shower facility in the back of the Pottery which you are welcome to use. During cooler months out of season it is a good idea to bring hot water bottles. We charge £3 a day for a small electric heater should you want it. (Although it says Farmstay in the title it is not an active farm any more- so there are no animals other than sheep and wild ponies on the moor - and there is pottery tuition offered at Ashera Pottery on site too. The Pottery is open from Easter to September. There was no category for caravan so Farmstay seemed the closest option!) Just to be clear it has no running water into the caravan at the moment. There is also a portable barbecue. You are welcome to gather wood and have fire...either quietly close to the caravan or out on the moor where we have a communal firepit. You an also purchase baskets of logs from us for £5 + bags of kindling for £4. It is in a glorious setting beneath the Preseli Hills and great for travelling to various parts of Pembrokeshire. If you would prefer something less basic - we have a few beautiful Holiday Cottages available to rent and also a lovely Yurt. Many people choose to stay here to take advantage of the Pottery Workshops Anna runs at Ashera Pottery on site. She offers small groups or 1 -2 -1 tuition on the wheel, suitable for adults and children - a great activity for a rainy day!
Gors Fawr stone circle is 5 minutes walk away, a small circle of 16 stones the same era as Stonehenge! Many many stunning beaches.
  • Fantastic stay in this quirky little caravan. Loved every minute. Beautiful location, so quiet and peaceful. Our little boy loved sleeping in the bunk bed and getting to build a campfire. Caravan was clean and cosy and had everything we needed. Anna was a lovely host, very friendly and helpful. Would love to visit here again :D

  • Great, back to nature stay. The caravan is spacious, very vintage and comfortable. The surroundings are just breathtaking and as the caravan it’s in a field you have a lot of privacy and space for campfire, bbq and lovely table. Pottery class is a must do, so fun and creative. Anna is a great host and made us feel at home.

  • This is a really lovely little place to stay and the location is perfect for seeing a bit of everything in Pembrokeshire. You will need a car, but we never needed to drive more than 40 minutes for cool sites, beaches etc. We didn’t manage to get much WiFi or signal on our phones which is something we prefer when going away but worth noting if it’s important for you to stay connected! Steve is full of useful information about the area, and well worth having a chat with to make the most of your time there. Thanks again!

    Stevie2019-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • Hedgerow Hut is a fantastic place and Steve and Elfrys were ideal hosts. The Hut is a wonderfully finished, incredibly clean and comfy place. It's well equipped and has fantastic views. Steve and Elfrys were really welcoming and very happy to leave me and Tee to it. The place was easy to find, had good parking and made for a exactly the country weekend away we wanted. Pretty sure there will be return trips.

    Katie2018-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at hedgerow hut. The cabin had everything we needed, was nice and private with a great view and plenty of space for the two of us. The hosts were there if we needed them and very friendly but were not intrusive and we enjoyed the peace and quiet of Pembrokeshire we were hoping for. A perfect base and location to explore.

  • The place is lovely and the view from the hut is very beautiful and peaceful. Steve & Elwys were lovely and welcoming, and the directions were very easy to follow to get us there. The hut is really lovely and very warm and well put together with everything we needed. And it is situated in a beautiful area. We had a great few days and look forward to getting back there sometime. Carole

  • We had a great time in Pembrokeshire staying at Steve and Elfrys' place. The setting was idyllic, with swifts flying around the adjacent fields and Steve and Elfrys' garden is beautiful itself, and they even treated us to some delicious home grown veg! A great base for relaxation and exploring the Pembrokeshire countryside. The accommodation itself was cosy - compact but with everything we needed. Many thanks Steve and Elfrys!

  • Dairy Cottage is in a great location for exploring Pembrokeshire. It’s charming and cosy, has everything you need and was a very practical cottage for us, particularly with our cockapoo dog. Kate made us feel very welcome with some thoughtful touches - delicious Welsh cakes and bread amongst others. Thank you for a lovely stay Kate!

Small and bijou, the cave is self contained, unique and has everything you need for a one night stop or week away. Pembrokeshire is the most wonderful area to explore and The Cave offers a relaxing, spot to land. Centrally placed, you can start here.
Solar heat and light with a log burner- we're not heavy on the environment. Compact but everything you need for overnight or longer. The last occupants came for a month and stayed nearly 2 years! Ideal for 2 but sleeps 4 for a short stay.
We are in a country village only 20 minutes from the sea- best of both worlds!
  • Exactly what it says on the tin! The Cave is a lovely, cosy little space; just the right size for 2 people. Julie was brilliant and super flexible with timings, as well as leaving us the essentials for a few days' stay (including fresh duck eggs..). Would love to return at some point.

  • The Cave is an absolutely gorgeous place for anyone wanting to visit Pembrookshire. An unbelievably cosy, clean and quirky space, we were completely charmed by it and found the hospitality fantastic.

  • Lovely snug place - compact but everything you need to hand . Great location for scouting around Pembrokeshire. We were made very welcome and loved “The Cave” just what we needed.

    Christine2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • A unique and special place to be. Julie is an exceptional host, who has great knowledge of the local area and is so accommodating and welcoming. The Cave is a quirky alternative to the traditional B&B, it is cosy and welcoming and fun, just like Julie and don't forget the ducks, geese and other colorful local wildlife! I would highly recommend a visit.

    Brid2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • The cave was a surprise to the family and it didn't disappoint. Our children enjoyed the company of the ducks, rabbits & cats and Julie was ever so good with showing them around. The wife commented on how she felt she got the best sleep she's had in a while, result. Location was ideal for access to surrounding areas, would liked to have stayed a couple of days longer.

    Naeem2019-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • The cave was just what we needed to get away for a few relaxing days, Julie and her partner were lovely, friendly and so welcoming.

    Jacqui2019-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • Julie’s place is a beautiful, rural and peaceful hideaway, a perfect spot for getting away from a busy city life for a summer. The ‘cave’ has everything you need for your stay, fully equipped kitchen, wet room, large sitting room with wood burning fire and cosy double bedroom. The ‘cave’ is located in a little courtyard with a menagerie of animals running free, the ducks and bunnies are particularly entertaining. With some outdoor seating for al fresco dining. Julie is a warm, caring host, going out of her way to ensure your stay is comfortable. She also puts some special extras in the kitchen like fresh duck eggs and milk. I couldn’t recommend this place enough. It will exceed your expectations.

    Bethany2019-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely weekend at Julie's Cave. She is a warm, welcoming, generous and informative host. The Cave is great value, snug and very well provisioned, in a lovely quiet location.

  • We were looking for a last minute weekend getaway, somewhere quiet and relaxing. We found it here, and had the loveliest stay. Peter was so welcoming and helpful, and the cottage had everything we needed and more. The space is extremely stylish, we had major deor envy! Also we found it to be an extremely dog-friendly place, with a fenced-in garden, dog quilt, a hose outside to clean muddy paws, and clean up bags. Our dog was absolutely blissed out here. We can't wait to come back!

  • We stayed here as two of our party were completing the Saindersfoot Triathlon. Our stay at Ewebarn was everything we could of asked for and more. The views were incredible and we enjoyed an afternoon sitting in the garden. Our hosts went out of their way to provide everything we could need and the house was clean, comfortable and welcoming. We had a great weekend.

    Amy2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • A perfect secluded location centred right in the middle Pembrokeshire. Great spot for exploring both coast lines and all local tourist attractions. Super child friendly with everything you need including an enclosed garden. Peter was a fantastic host and made us most welcome. Be prepared to drive as said earlier it is secluded but that didn’t bother us at all. We took our bikes and did lots of cycling with our two year old. There’s a great cafe about 3 miles away that did great food and coffee!

    Michelle2019-08-03T00:00:00Z

It sleeps 5+is next to the moor+ancient stonecircle... There is direct access onto the moor with sheep+wild ponies grazing+a firepit. It's a great place for sunsets. Pottery tuition is available at the Pottery tuition Easter to September. For children+adults - hand building+throwing on the wheel

  • A wonderfully rustic charming building surrounded by wild and beautiful moorland. Wild ponies beyond the garden gate and beautiful sun sets. Very chilly at times so warm socks and cosy blankets a must out of season. Close to many of Pembrokeshires beautiful beaches. Easy to find with sat nav. All in all a perfect place to relax and unwind in the peace and quiet of natural surroundings.

    Hannah2019-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect place to unwind and recharge- we didn’t really want to leave the house and we’re glad the weather was terrible- gave us an excuse to cosy up inside!

    Quentin2019-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay! Everything was as the listing stated which was awesome! We loved the location and how quirky the cow shed was. We had an issue with the toilet and Anna responded and fixed within hours which was so good as often you get no responses but Anna responded within minutes of the problem and was sorting it there and then - much appreciated!! Definitely a great holiday home - highly recommend!!

    Stefano2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely stay at Anna’s place. Ideal location to explore Pembrokeshire from and a cosy cottage to come back to in the evenings. Would definitely recommend!

  • We had such a lovely stay! Beautiful location and very unique building. Anna was very kind and welcoming :)

    Jess2019-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • A relaxing and peaceful whitewashed stone cottage set in tranquil semi-wild gardens. The best thing about this place is that you can ten paces from the front door to a gate that opens onto a wild and magical moorland. Walk across in one direction and you find two standing stones and a little further, a neolithic stone circle. In the other direction lies the Preseli Hills over which the sun sets. Three times we were treated to wild ponies grazing close by. The cowshed cottage has been lovingly converted by an artist and has many delightful touches, from beautiful curving windows to a wonderful higgle- de- piggledy staircase. Go up these stairs and find a bright open space containing perhaps the most exciting thing of all- a white mouse-hole shaped 'cave' bedroom! My children loved sleeping here. The kitchen was well equipped. The bathroom areas were lovely and bright. The cottage smelled fresh and clean. The immediate garden area just outside the door was perfect and included a bench and a table set. We even saw a lizard out here bathing in the sun! Local area is great- you have the whole of Pembrokeshire to explore. Near by Mwnt beach is beautiful. Castell Henllys re-enacted Iron age hill fort is worth a visit. There is a large local shop down the road and a tesco in cardigan. We had a Tesco online delivery! Last but not least- if you are here for long enough, we fully recommend a session in the beautiful pottery.
