  • We spent 3 nights here for my mother in laws 70th birthday celebrations. We were a party of 9 in the end. It was the perfect setting. The grounds and castle are beautiful. All Rooms were clean and beds were very comfortable. Only problem we had which was our fault, was 2 family members are disabled. One stayed in the downstairs bedroom. Other in the clock house as neither of them could managed going upstairs due to it being a spiral iron staircase. The clock house shower wasn’t suitable for the family member staying there as they needed a walk in shower. So it meant they had to come inside and share the downstairs shower also which was fine. But worth mentioning to any further guests that may have more than one disabled person in their party. We all will strongly recommend this property. Claire and Adrian very helpful when asking about outside catering companies. Which we didn’t end up using as it was really easy getting a Tesco’s delivery to the property. Check in and directions were excellent. This was a stress free few days away. We would all love to return in the future and can imagine how lovely it would be in the summer months.

  • Exactly as stated, this is a great, characterful place to stay with wonderful hosts that respond quickly to communication.

  • Fabulous place. Good facilities for catering. Great open relaxation areas. Function but beautiful bedrooms. House lovely and warm. Clock house great for any guests that can’t manage the stairs and nicer than described. Loads of room for parking and grounds would be lovely in dry weather. Great, unique quirky place.

  • Firstly, the photos on air bnb do not do the castle justice. It is simply a stunning place that feels so authentic. The grounds surrounding the castle are also fantastic and given we had the right weather, a lot of time would have been spent outside in the massive gardens utilising the bbq they have. The dining room was a personal favourite of mine and if we didn’t want to cook there was 20+ places that delivered to the castle on Just Eat. (Nacho cheese was an excellent takeaway) Adrian and Claire were lovely hosts and got back to me so quickly about any queries I had during the week. I can’t fault anything during my stay at longs park castle. I’d previously seen some reviews that made me a tad bit skeptical of the place prior to my arrival but I don’t know why I was worried because as I said, I couldn’t fault the place. Myself and friends had a brilliant break and will definitely be returning in the summer at some point. Thank you Claire & Adrian! ☺️

  • Can’t give this place enough stars. The communication with hosts Claire and Adrian before our stay was wonderful. We were given extremely detailed instructions about the check in and using the house generally. Although the check in did not require meeting them, they responded to our messages within minutes from check in to check out. We visited as a group of friends having a university reunion and the castle is just the perfect place for this type of event. The novelty factor of staying in a castle, complete with coats of armour and four poster beds was amazing. Although it must be an old building, it was extremely warm (the hosts sent very clear instructions about the hot water and heating) and the hot water worked for all of us. Lots of the rooms are en-suites and there are a few standalone toilets/bathrooms as well. The beds were comfy with very clean bed linen and towels provided. The only thing to be aware of is that there is capacity in the main house for ten people and the remaining beds are in an outhouse which has two doubles and two Z beds. The outhouse was absolutely fine but not as nice as the main house. Worth bearing in mind when planning sleeping arrangements. All in all, I can’t recommend the place more. Huge amounts of fun and lovely hosts.

  • A truly magical place for adults and children. We loved eating meals at the large dining space and enjoying wine together. It rained quite a bit whilst we were there but still plenty to do and space within the house and separate games room. The downstairs bedroom was perfect to put our three year old down to sleep on the evening before transferring him up to bed with us later on as it’s right next to main living area. Elderly may struggle with stair case, however double bedroom downstairs and toilet and shower plus the lovely annex which is perfect for older people again with own kitchen and bathroom. Washing machine meant we could wash wet clothes and space to dry them. In between showers driveway which was safe and enclosed meant we could enjoy ball games and not get muddy. Kids loved climbing the fallen tree by the play area. We took some amazing photos both inside and out. A great place to stay for all ages. Supermarkets and town of Trowbridge only 9 min drive. Nature reserve - we had a lovely walk. On way home we stopped off at Bradford on Avon which again was beautiful. Thank you Adrian and Claire our half term break was magical.

  • This is an absolutely amazing and gorgeous location suitable for a larger family looking for a special location, hen du, stag du and special group events. The rooms are more spacious than you think and the beds are very comfortable. The location itself has a lot to offer with facilities such as the games hut and one thing we were not expecting was the sheer space to park vehicles - 7 cars fit comfortably there! We hired for a hen du and stayed when Storm Dennis hit! It created a unique atmosphere that we cozied down with as it affected our original plan to spend most of the day in Bath (close to the venue). Whilst we still went in we did in fact spend most of our time at the Castle playing group games and getting cozy. Due to the storm we experienced a few issues as a group that were unavoidable (no one can control the weather after all!) The hosts answered when called and were very happy to help with the various issues storm Dennis had thrown our way and swiftly responded which is what you want from a host! General good to know notes: The venue is closer to the road than first thought, and the gate opens into a spacious car Park. Definitely bring slippers or indoor shoes as the stair cases leading to the upper rooms are metal and cold on the feet due to the nature of the building. The venue is close enough to Bath for a visit There's shops within driving distance but take away companies generally either won't deliver or will charge large delivery fees - we just went and collected! Overall a gorgeous location with thoughtful hosts and one that I would love to visit again.

  • We had a lovely two night break in Wiltshire in this quirky Airbnb. The space is lovely and plenty of space for two adults and a dog. The location is perfect. We enjoyed walked along the canal (3 minutes walk from the cottage) to get to the locks. Lots of lovely pubs and nearby villages to visit too. We could have stayed for a lot longer 😊

    Katrina2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • This space is spot on for a retreat. Beautiful, simple, well designed space perfect for thinking, being still, praying, worshiping. In a beautiful countryside location with plenty to explore outdoors if that's what you want to do. Wonderful hosts. We are very grateful for the time. We used it as a retreat space for the beginning of the new year. Thank you

  • Lovely self contain cabin, seems like a remote location with the final half mile drive to the cabin and their house but this is deceptive as it is actually very easy to reach all the main local highlights of Whiltshire by car. Deep in the countyside, lots of stars on a clear night, well away from the turmoil of a town, city life.

  • Lovely place, great location by the canal, friendly pooches 😊

  • If you are looking for a place to relax and unwind this is it - Melissa’s gardens are beautiful and we were even lucky enough to borrow the canoe to explore along the country side by canoeing up the brook. Really an idyllic setting - thank you!

  • Completely and utterly impressed with this beautiful, quaint and so well equipped accommodation. This is hosting at its very very best. Penny has thought of absolutely everything to make your stay soo homely and comfortable. Was so easy to book in and check out. Fantastic stay while exploring the surrounding area which offers a varied amount of things to do. The local New Inn just a short walk from the accommodation serves delicious food. As we drive home we are already planning a return trip as we enjoyed this one so much. Thanks Penny for having us.

    Angela2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very comfortable two-night stay in the chapel. The building itself and the décor are both lovely and there were plenty of thoughtful touches – Penny has great taste and attention to detail. There was also useful info on-hand including things to do locally, the interesting history of the chapel and helpful visuals for how to use the sofa bed. We would definitely stay here again and would thoroughly recommend to anyone looking for a quirky and cosy retreat in the Bath area.

    Faye2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • This place is simply beautiful. Secluded, spacious and homely it offered exactly what I was after to surprise my partner for a lovely little romantic break away. The host sent through a welcome message with all the details on gaining entry, where to go if you wanted to eat out and the contact details if you needed anything. There was a lovely little rest of goodies on arrival (drink and shortbread) along with milk in the fridge. The bedroom in the mezzanine area is spacious and the bed very comfortable! The kitchen has everything you need and the shower room, although downstairs from the bedroom, is light and fresh and has all the toiletries. We ended up eating at The Bunch of Grapes in Bradford-on-Avon, which the food was amazing! Would definitely recommend if you’re happy to spend that little bit more. Could not fault it or the service. Following night we ate at the local village pub, The New Inn. Again lovely, decent pub food, with very good portions. Again could not fault. Will definitely look to return at some point.

  • We loved this beautiful and thoughtfully arranged chapel. One of the best Airbnbs we’ve stayed in.

  • Lovely spot in a quiet village. The chapel is a gorgeous little place, one single room with a kitchen off to the side and the bedroom upstairs. Penny was an excellent host, providing excellent communication before and during our stay. Highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Bath or the nearby area

A beautiful 1750s cottage in Bradford on Avon, voted by the Sunday Times as the best town to live in 2015, just 5 miles from Bath. The cottage is set up with 2 rooms with double beds, 1 room with a double and a single, and can host 7 people in the cottage. The original wash house for the terrace, has a lovely light and airy studio the garden with an additional king size bed sleeping 2, hence a maximum total of 9 guests. It is cosy, so suits smaller groups well as well.
In the cottage there are two rooms with double beds and 1 room with a double and a single, so in total the cottage sleeps 7. In addition there is a lovely light and airy studio in the garden which sleeps 2, or a sofa bed in the lounge. Travel cots can be provided, and an additional single mattress on floor if accommodating smaller children. Works well for couples, small groups of friends or families. Use of the studio for parties of 7 and under needs to be agreed in advance. If smaller groups would like use of the studio that can also be arranged but for an additional fee. The cottage oozes character with exposed wooden beams throughout the property, mullion windows all carefully crafted from Bath Stone, and the original staircase and floor boards in some of the rooms. It has a cosy wood burner for winter stays, and a small but perfectly formed garden to enjoy on sunny days. There is use of a BBQ in the garden and charcoal is provided. The cottage sleeps 7 and there is a lovely studio in the garden with a kingsize bed, tea making facilities and a sofa so the group can spread out. It is light and airy. There is no bathroom in the outbuilding so guests staying here would need to use the bathroom in the cottage. The sheets are all Egyptian cotton from John Lewis with quality bedding throughout. Guests have commented about the comfort and quality. The stairs are original and quite steep. Stairgates are provided if young children require them but please let us know in advance so we can put them up. We have many families with young children stay. People with mobility issues may however find the stairs difficult.
Bradford on Avon is a beautiful town on the edge of the Cotswolds with easy access to Bath. It is a beautiful town in its own right with plenty of sights and activities to enjoy. Many guests comment that they only wish they could have stayed longer. Bradford on Avon is divided into two halves - and this cottage is on the Bath side of town at the top of the hill. On the plus side, this means it quicker for access into Bath if you are driving, however while the centre is less than a 5 minute walk, there is a rather steep hill. If you are on foot, coming from the town centre back up, I would recommend using Whitehill or Woolley Street rather than Masons Lane as it is slightly less steep and less traffic. Guests with walking difficulties may prefer to drive down town and park. There is a variety of parking from free 1 hour parking, to paid 3 hour parking near the town bridge and all day parking at the train station. Parking at St Margaret’s car park or train station are good options. My list of things not to miss would be 1. The 1 mile walk along the canal to Avoncliff which has the lovely Cross Arms pub and the No 10 Tea rooms. It is a great way to take in the slow pace of the canal boats and get away from it all. 2. The Tithe Barn - and there are nearby playgrounds if you have kids with you 3. Woolley Grange for lunch or high tea. 14 acres of gorgeous gardens with a Jacobean manor house and lots of games in the gardens for children to enjoy 4.. We also have the UK's Top Tea House - 'Bridge Tea Rooms' Favourite pubs Top of the Hill - the Castle and the George. The Castle is 100 metres from the cottage. Down town is the newly opened Timbrells Yard which has been opened by the company that runs River Cottage Cafe. Newly opened Pablos Tapas Bar in Lambs Yard has lovely tapas and margaritas.Once you have explored Bradford, Bath is a 10 minute train ride away and Bristol, Longleat, Cheddar Gorge, Stonehenge and the South West coast are easily reached as day trips. I also love Avebury, Lacock Stourhead, Great Chalfield Manor and the Courts. All of which are National trust places between 5 minutes and 40 minutes drive from the cottage
  • Such a lovely cottage, cosy and homely. Its very near the shops in such a beautiful town.

  • We had a great weekend walking the muddy fields surrounding and we really enjoyed the property - we cooked a roast dinner on Saturday evening and the kitchen was really well set up for proper cooking, which is not always the case in Airbnb properties. The rooms were cosy but very homely and we all slept well - recommend the outhouse room above the garage.

    Rowan2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely property in a gorgeous little town. Easy train service and bus into bath. Cute coffee shops in town. However, quite a steep hill to climb back to the cottage. The house is very clean and cosy. The beds are very comfortable and the bedding is nice and thick. Very cute xx

  • The stay was everything we had expected. Teresa was great, the town was terrific and the people, exceptional. We will return again one day.

  • Charming cottage in a lovely town. Particularly liked the spacious bedroom on the top floor. Teresa was very responsive.

    Charlotte2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Teresa's place is very nice. Close enough to the centre of Bradford-on-Avon to walk, but also very much in the countryside, just what we wanted. We highly recommend the tapas place in the centre.

  • The house and surrounding area is beautiful, the kitchen has all the supplies needed to cook for a large group. The bedrooms are a good size and the bathrooms work well. The wifi has issues, even in areas it has full signal, but sometimes it is nice to be disconnected. The farm animals are a must-see.

  • Top place to stay can't recommend it enough. We had a family get together of four generations ranging from 4 up to 73 years of age and every family member loved it here and are still raving about it. Stunning and peaceful location but within easy reach to local amenities. We will be returning most definitely :-)

  • Penny & Richard's place is outstanding from every viewpoint. The location is picturesque in the extreme, the house has every amenity and the estate has a great range of wild life both domestic and "au natural". The service had lots of lovely touches withcake and tea waiting for us in our arrival. It is an easy car ride into Bath, Bristol & Cirencester where there is plenty to entertain every preference. We thoroughly recommend this venue.

  • We celebrated my 30th birthday with some friends and had such a fantastic time. Richard gave us an informative briefing on the house and welcomed us in. The house is well equipped and the bedding is all good quality and super comfortable. The hot tub is a great feature and the drawing room was almost too warm on a cold day with the fire blazing. A cosy spot in a beautiful village with picturesque walks. The walnut cake was a great touch! Thank you Penny!

    Filippo2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful house and grounds, we had a family celebration and everybody had a wonderful time. If there were any minor concerns, for example a light not working then this was fixed very promptly. Children loved the hot tub, the outdoor games and the animals. Thank you

    Caroline2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our stay here. The setting and house were heavenly! We came with a group of 6 friends from the US for a quiet time in the English countryside. The location and situation of River House was about as perfect as it can get. We enjoyed walks through the woodlands, sitting out in the garden, and the peaceful serenity of quiet evenings. The train station is a short, lovely walk away and a quick ride into Bath for a day of sightseeing. We visited many other local landmarks on day trips. It took us less than an hour to drive to Tintern Abbey in Wales. The house itself was great for accommodating us. It holds plenty of people—especially with the coach house. It is an old house—300 years or so in some parts—so that always comes with its own bit of challenges, especially with plumbing. But overall we had very little trouble. The house is clean and tastefully decorated, preserving its ancient history while still having all the modern amenities and a gorgeous kitchen. Penny and Richard were wonderful hosts and took great care of us without being intrusive. We used the hired chef for one meal and it was delicious and so fun! If I ever come to the Bath area again, I will most definitely stay here.

  • The River House is an iconic venue infused with history amongst beautiful rural surroundings. We attended as a party of 13 and found there to be ample space for all, amazing hospitality and plenty of indoor and outdoor activities to keep us busy. I would not hesitate to recommend the River House. Thank you Penny and Richard once again for your amazing hospitality.

This gorgeous loft apartment is comfortable and has a lovely atmosphere. The kitchen is well equipped, with a solid granite worktop, full oven and hob. It's quiet even though its centrally situated. Quick to warm if there's a cold snap. Quick to cool on those hazy hot summer days This gorgeous loft apartment is very comfortable and has a lovely atmosphere.
Bradford On Avon is a delightful place. You'll love hanging out in the local coffee shops and cafes'.. The locals are super friendly and always open to a little natter. We highly recommend walks along the canal towards Bath - you could even hire bikes and cycle along it, beautiful all year round. Or explore all the little paths through the town, check out some of the beautiful homes and huge houses.
  • Perfect bijou flat for exploring Bradford on Avon and local area. Very central location, warm, cosy and spotlessly clean. Very quick response from owner to our queries. Highly recommend.

  • Ideal for 2 of us, with some nice welcoming touches. Coop round the corner, 5 min walk to train station (15 min to Bath, 30 min to Bristol) Perfect base for exploring the area.

  • We enjoyed our stay at Daisy's flat. The other reviews are right that the entrance stairwell is a bit dark but once you're in the flat is absolutely fine. A quirky flat with all the amenities you need. Great to be able to go out into Bradford on Avon for food and shopping. We got the train into Bath for the day which was very convenient.

Period cottage in beautiful Wiltshire Village
My spare room is a a small but perfectly formed double bedroom with a double bed, linen and chest of drawers. The cottage is a period cottage built in the late 1700's and is grade 2 listed so is oozing with character which yes that means low beams, an inglenook fireplace, wooden floors. It's an old cottage in the country so with that goes a few pet spiders, the odd cobweb and a crack in the paint here and there! There is use of shared bathroom (which is downstairs), kitchen and living room. Included is towels, fresh linen, tea, coffee, WiFi. The cottage is in a simply stunning rural Wiltshire village which is very close to the canal for some superb countryside walks or cycle routes and some great village pubs that you must try. Locally there are market town of Devizes, Melksham, Chippenham. Tourist Attractions nearby: Caen Hill Lock Flight, Lacock Abbey (of Harry Potter, Pride and Prejudice Fame) Avebury. Stonehenge is approximately 30 mins away by car. Further afield you can get to Bath, Glastonbury, Salisbury and Wells. There is a bus stop (49) directly outside the cottage which connects with local Towns Trowbridge and Devizes and also main transport hubs Bath & Swindon. If you are wanting to get out and explore the villages it may be more advisable to have a car. Note there is a very limited bus service on Sundays! If I am free I am more than happy to show you around the local area. I love to cook and to eat together so if I am around I will happily share a meal, if not just make full use of the kitchen yourself! I do not include breakfast as I cannot guarantee my working hours /availabilty however you are welcome to help yourself to toast or cereals or whatever I have available if I am around or use the kitchen to prepare your own.
  • Quick responses and very understanding

  • We had a short, but great stay at Jennys beautiful house! Next time we would Like to spend more time in this cosy and quirky home, with its little surprises :) we enjoyed Our stay a lot and slept very well! Jenny was very kind and helpful, and Harry the dog was so sweet! Thank you so much for breakfast and the sweet gifts! :)

  • Jennifer was fantastic, great recommendations and a very warm stay. We were very lucky as she shared some of her vegetarian chili that she had spare from feeding the homeless/less fortunate. Lovely human, thank you for a great stay.

    Ryan2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Jenny is very generous at sharing her home. She was so helpful and she and her dog Harry made me and my dog feel very welcome. Thank you!

    Louise2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed with Jenny and Harry for 5 weeks for a working holiday and really felt welcomed and allowed to feel at home away from home. I especially liked: Jenny's swift and clear communication, her relaxed nature allowed me to do my own thing or hang out in the evenings without judgement, being shown around the area - Seend and Wiltshire alike with great suggestions if venturing out alone and sharing cooking occasionally (Jen is great at roast dinners!). The location was perfect as it had a beautiful view from the bedroom window, was quiet but on the main route to larger towns closeby. The only thing I found slightly bothersome was the scratching of Harry's claws on the floor as he walked past my room when I wanted a lie in (you have to be a dog person!) - other than this I really can't fault my stay - thank you Jenny and Harry!

    Millie2019-12-13T00:00:00Z
  • What to say? Clean, warm, excellent facilities, comfortable bed and very friendly, lovely dog. I didn't see a great deal of Jennifer due to both of us being out a lot, and didn't need much in terms of local help, but she was helpful and friendly to the extent that we did interact.

    Natasha2019-11-06T00:00:00Z

Stables is a newly refurbished cottage with attention to detail and a little luxury. Cleaned THOROUGHLY with antibac- left for your use. Linens & towels washed on 60. Well placed for hiding away; off the road, countryside on doorstep, well stocked local shop opposite, 2 great pubs serving take aways. Courtyard one side; a private garden the other. Here you can sit in the sun trap, on the outdoor furniture, evenings al fresco or watch movies in the lounge 49” Smart TV or bedroom 32 “ Smart TV.
Park in the generous shared gravelled car park and enter through a private wooden gate to Stables. Through double doors, you enter into an airy open plan kitchen and living space. A welcome pack awaits you, including milk, orange juice, luxury cereals, jams, bagels, cookies and filter coffee. The kitchen is stocked with provisions to help make your stay easier. A thorough guide book of information written with local knowledge will mean you don't have to think too hard. You are on holiday after all! Upstairs is a bedroom with a Hypnos kingsize bed and luxury pillows, bedding and towels. The bathroom has a power-shower and soaps, hand cream and shower gel is provided so you don't have to pack too much! A single Jay bed is also available if there are three in your party.
Holt is a lovely village and you can easily spend an enjoyable relaxing time here. The Courts Gardens are beautiful, tranquil gardens which will instantly relax you. The on-site cafe is full of charm and is excellent. Holt also has two pubs, a village shop and post office, The Glove Factory for a fabulous lunch, beautiful country walks to explore, a large park, tennis courts and a pond teaming with wildlife. A short drive away and you are in Bradford-on-Avon with a river and canal , a tithe barn and many lovely pubs and restaurants.
  • The stables was a perfect choice! My partner and I stayed for 2 nights and we couldn't have enjoyed it more. The cottage itself is beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. It provided all the little essentials and more with a lovely breakfast hamper included. There was 2 high quality tvs with full catch up tv app/Netflix facility for cosy nights in. Lots of room for parking and a very quiet area even with the neighbours in the other cottages. The surrounding area was perfect for us. We tried Ravello, an Italian in Bradford on Avon as a birthday meal (would 100% recommend) only a 5 min drive so a quick taxi ride if you would like to have a drink, the 2 pubs in the village are also very good for both drinks and lunch. I would also recommend the Refa tandoori restaurant in Melksham, very friendly staff and great food. There really is lots to do in the area and Bath is so close you cannot be bored! If you like both relaxing in quaint little villages but also having the city so close by to pop into - this is definitely a place to consider!

  • Ray and Katy's AirB&B was delightful, they were both respectable and professional hosts and remained attentive throughout the stay. They provided a breakfast pack and essentials which are perfect for when you arrive and want the arrival cup of tea. The AirB&B is tastefully decorated and the hosts provide a comprehensive guidebook, allowing you to plan and explore the local areas. The bed was comfy and dressed in luxury linens, which provided a great nights sleep, no noise from the road either. The bathroom boasts luxury toiletries and towels, which were perfect after a long day out exploring. The Local area is beautiful and just taking a walk around the picturesque village was calming and relaxing. Being in close proximity to Bath (30 Minute Drive) was beneficial as it made visiting easy.

  • We had a great time at Stables. The cottage is modern, well maintained and decorated to a lovely standard. The kitchen is a great space and has everything you need if you want to prepare anything (and a fantastic little breakfast pack). The lounge area is very comfy and cosy. The bed is extremely comfortable and the shower room is again finished to a brilliant standard and has some lovely toiletries. We had a wonderful stay and enjoyed some of the beautiful local places that were recommended, including dinner one night at the local pub (yum!). Thank you Ray and Katy for a great stay.

  • Stayed in bad weather as a single person to read and get some work done. It was lovely and toasty, sofa is so comfortable and I loved the little lights. The bedroom also a very zen space. The village was definitely very empty/rural but pretty, and there's a shop right over the road for essentials. Thank you Jo!

  • Richard is a very nice host and he gave us good tips for another small town for us to stop by for dinner . The room is much more comfortable than expected and the shared room didn’t make me feel lack of privacy. Toilet is very big and clean, one of the better one I have stayed. Richard cooked a big English breakfast for us on Sat morning, It is so much and all of skipped our lunch happily on Sat. Will recommend Richard’s place for those who loves to have a feel of local.

    faith2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • Fanatastic host Richard is very accommodating making you feel at home from the moment you walk in the door. The whole house was very clean and Richard was very accommodating to any queries we may have had the following morning We were treated to a full English which did not disappoint with full tea and coffee facilities as well and a generous check out time to allow for a nice chilled Sunday morning will 100% be using Richard again

  • We had a lovely weekend in Rich's house. Rich was a great host and cooked us a lovely breakfast. Communication was excellent. House was nice and good location. We went to Lacock and Bradford-on-Avon Ann's the lovely Court Gardens in Holt itself. The only slight issue was that I thought was booking the whole house. This wasn't quite true as Rich and his partner were there the whole time. They stayed out of the way and we had access to everywhere but it would be better if this was clearer in the description.

  • This flat is very clean and quiet, with a private garden. Groceries are 5 mn by car (aldi, Asda). The village is located in central west England, with an easy ride to Cotswolds (1h), Oxford (1h), Gloucester (1 h), Bath and Bristol (30 mn) Lacock Abbey (10mn), Highclere Castle (1 h). It was a very convenient stop to wander around and visit the Wiltshire, Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire. Also relevant for families, as the garden is closed. (Yet keep an eye on toddlers, as there is a pond in the garden). It was a loverly place to stay.

Located 10 miles from Bath and 10 mins drive from Bradford on Avon, this converted stables is situated in the village of Hilperton, not far from the market town of Trowbridge. The house is one of three, converted from stables once owned by the farmhouse opposite. The deep window sills and 2ft thick walls gives it a cottage feel that's cosy in the winter and cool in the summer. The property is south facing and has a front garden to enjoy the sunshine in the summer.
It has private parking in the carport to the side of the house for 1 car, plus street parking if necessary. The house has a double bedroom and separate bathroom, with a shower over the bath. Downstairs is a comfortable lounge/dining area and separate kitchen with all the necessary equipment.
Besides the city of Bath and the historic town of Bradford on Avon nearby, there are plenty of walks plus a great little café down the road. There's also a local pub 5 mins walk away called the Lion and Fiddle which specialises in Gurkha style cooking.
  • Great place, really clean with a lovely host! Very easy to get too bath and longleat 20-30mins each

I couldn't recommend this place enough and would absolutely stay again and again!

Set in grounds of a Georgian house, Holt House Lodge is a perfect base for seeing Wilts and Somerset. Just 1.5 miles from Bradford-on-Avon and 7 miles from Bath, the pretty village of Holt is home to the National Trust Courts Gardens. The local gastro pub, the Tollgate Inn is opposite the house, does a great breakfast. There are lovely country walks right on your doorstep too. NB: Not suitable for small children. There IS an induction hob - not visible as it's black and blends into worktop.
The lodge comprises an open plan bedroom, living space and kitchen plus shower room. Facilities include washer/dryer, thermostatic shower, induction hob, combi-microwave oven, underfloor heating and free Wi-Fi connection. There is also a brand new smart TV. With a king size bed, the lodge comfortably sleeps two. Mattress is very comfortable and bed-linen is crisp, 300 thread count egyptian cotton and the duvets and pillows are pure goose down. There is a small private terrace outside with table, chairs and an arbour to sit and watch the sunset and enjoy a glass of wine. The lodge is best suited to adults as is not kitted out for young children.
Holt is a pretty village and is home to the National Trust Courts Gardens, a 5-minute walk away. The Field Kitchen at the Glove Factory is a wonderful cafe restaurant surrounded by fields and country walks - also a 5-min walk. The Tollgate Inn, opposite the house is an award- winning gastric pub. Bradford-on-avon is 1.5 miles down the road and Bath is a 20-min drive away. The Field Kitchen at The Glove Factory sells organic and locally produced vegetables, cakes, pastries and other lovely stuff. It’s a short walk away. Holt Superstore is a traditional “corner shop” selling essentials - turn left out of the gate and walk across the village green - then take the passageway beside the Village Green Garage - walk to the end then turn left and you will see the shop in front of you. For the Glove Factory and Field Kitchen, when you exit the passageway cross over the road and walk down the road called 'The Midlands' - you will see the Glove Factory Studios sign. Walk into the complex and you will see the Field Kitchen cafe/restaurant and shop. Or you could drive down into Bradford-on-Avon where there's a wide range of restaurants and pubs. Just turn right out of the gate and drive 1.5 miles into the town. There are two large pay and display car parks.
  • Very clean, comfortable accommodation set in lovely grounds.

Hi, This is our first full year renting out this lovely quiet and well equipped home. We decided to keep the price low, as we would rather have lots of lovely guests, than have our beautiful home empty. We have tried to think of your every need and if we have missed anything, please let us know, we welcome your input. My sister took particular time and effort decorating the house and laying every brick herself until it was to her satisfaction. My niece Kim keeps it clean and welcoming!
The decor is light and airy. Every room has been recently updated with new paint, carpet and beds. The Kitchen is light and bright and a true pleasure to cook in or to just sit at the dining table and chat. The living room, bedrooms and bathroom can all be easily accessed by a wheel chair or walker. All the beds are new and have duvets.
This is on a quiet well-established small housing estate. Situated on a corner with a beautifully landscaped garden. The Patio is quiet and secluded with a fire pit, barbecue, seating and umbrella. The back gate has been modified so that pets cannot get out.
  • Lovely home from home. Great amenities and thoughtful extra touches. Great wifi, lots of board games and DVDs in the house. Thanks for a lovely stay!

    Laura2020-03-08T00:00:00Z

  • I spent a very comfortable night at Meg and Andy's palce. The room is bright, big and cozy and has everything you need. For breakfast, I could chose from a variety of options and it was freshly made and delicious. The house is not ideal if you are travelling by public transport, but Meg and Andy are very friendly and might even give you a lift to the station. I can very much recommend them!

    Fabienne2018-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely hosts, quiet location. You will sleep soundly. Breakfast was excellent, with a lot of choice. The two village pubs (both good!) are more of a drive than a walk, but otherwise perfect.

    Steve2018-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Meg's place. This is not just an Air B & B but a proper B & B in the truest sense of the word! Delicious breakfast, very comfy and clean rooms, beautifully decorated bathroom, and two hosts that went out of their way to help and make us feel welcome. They even drove us to the nearby festival we were attending - twice! And messaged to let us know we'd forgotten something, offering to post it. Highly, highly recommend this place. thank you again Meg.x

  • I had a fabulous experience very staying at the studio. It is a great little spot if you want to visit Bath and Bradford-on-Avon. I didn’t get a chance to look around the town, but it seems lovely and it was in good proximity to the train station if you want a quieter area but close enough to get to Bath quickly! Marsha and Dave were absolutely wonderful hosts and went out of their way to make sure my stay was good. This studio felt safe as a solo traveler and they left toast, tea, coffee and yummy marmalade for me. From the soft sheets, to the towel warmer, to the shower head, everything was great! I hope to return.

Woke up ready for a full day in Bath which is only about 20 minutes drive from here.

Barley is one of two newly developed apartments, in the heart of Box, a popular village only 15 mins bus or drive from Bath. In a previous life, the building was a skittle alley for The Lamb Inn but that rang time in the 1960s and is now our home. The units are a mix of country and modern, with oak beams and doors and atmospheric lighting. The aim was to create a stylish, light and comfy space with a homely feel, attention to detail and a little touch of luxury. A welcome pack awaits you.
The private entrance is up five stone steps and through the left hand oak door. The hallway leads through to the living area with a fully fitted kitchen, sofa-bed, DVD TV and a dining area. A comfy window seat offers a great spot to sit and enjoy views across the valley. Through to the bedroom and a 1200 pocket sprung kingsize bed, with 100% cotton white linens, will see you sleep soundly. This can be split into two singles if required. The corner wardrobe has generous hanging space and room to store cases. You can choose to lie in bed and star gaze through the skylight, or use the remote control to operate a blackout blind. There is a wall-mounted smart TV for late-night movies or lazy mornings. Both the living space and bedroom have sockets with USB points for easy charging. Underfloor heating is throughout. The en-suite has a 1100cm wide shower featuring a rain style and hand held shower. It also has a shaver point, heated towel rail, white fluffy bath sheet, hand towel and flannel, Cole & Lewis toiletries including liquid hand soap, body and hair shampoo, body lotion and a few other little extras.
Box is a bustling village just 5 miles outside Bath. It has a strong feeling of community and offers a local grocery shop that's open until 10pm, the 'Queen's Head' pub, a great Indian restaurant for eat-in or takeaway, delicious homemade cooking at The Birdhouse Cafe, a Methodist Church and Church Of England Church, a pharmacy, post office, hair dressers, butchers - all within easy walking distance of Barley. It also has a large, recreation ground with a cricket ground, tennis courts, football pitch, river, children's play area, toddler's play area and some stunning countryside for walks. Box woods are lovely to explore. Within a quarter of an hour's walk is The Northey Arms bar and restaurant serving excellent food and The Quarryman's Pub, a charming place with hard to beat views. The occupation of Box dates back to Roman times. It is known for its stone and quarries, Peter Gabriel's Studios and Box Tunnel, built by Brunel which is 1.83 miles long and can be seen from the bridge. The author of Thomas The Tank Engine, Reverend Awdry, lived in the village and felt the steam engines he could hear from his room at night, sounded like they had personalities. The stories begin! You can easily enjoy time in the village itself but most visitors will probably want to explore a few miles around too, with Bath, Corsham, Bradford-on-Avon and Lacock all close by and packed with wonderful sites to explore. More about nearby locations and places to visit is in the Barley information folder. Rain or shine, you won't be bored!
  • Lovely stay - great location and really helpful hosts

    Sarah2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Charming little place with all the things you didn’t even know you needed. Felt so nice to stay somewhere homely instead of a hotel. The place looks exactly like the pictures, decorated beautifully. Especially loved the electric sky lights and the power points with USB plugs, very handy! Breakfast was a nice touch, especially when the mornings were rainy and you didn’t feel like heading out! Every query was responded to quickly and Ray and Katy even offered up use of their washing machine (though there is a laundromat in Bath). Highly recommend!

    Paige2020-02-25T00:00:00Z

  • Lucy’s place was absolutely perfect for us. Commutation from Lucy was excellent, she helped us with everything we needed, directions to the property were perfect and instructions on how to enter the property with the lock box was great. Lucy’s accommodation is spotlessly clean, her partner came along to make sure everything was okay as well as Lucy messaging to make sure we had everything we needed. Can’t wait to be back in the area and to stay here again. Would recommend to anyone.
