Both are dedicated to vacation travelers, here are a few things PEOPLE LOVE about The Perfect Getaway. ONE OF OUR REVIEWS "Jeff’s properties are simply the best. I travel a lot, and stay in a lot of hotels and AirBnB’s. Jeff’s are by far the best anywhere, hands down. Jeff himself is also an amazing host. You won’t find a friendlier, more competent host anywhere. Brian" #1 Location, 17 miles to Crystal Mountain, 26 miles to the Sleeping Bears Dunes National Park, 20 minutes to Traverse City, 5 minutes to the World renowned Interlochen Arts Academy! 3 miles to the Blue Bridge Events Center! 1/2 mile to Interlochen Golf course, 30 miles to The Homestead. also our vacation home is located on OUR 16 acre PRIVATE LAKE "LOST LAKE" , RIGHT OFF OF US 31, just 1/2 mile from the traffic light in Interlochen. #2 Our house is newly remodeled the unit is AIR CONDITIONED for those warm summer days, great effort has went into sound proofing one side from the other, this is what a recent guest had to say (The way the duplex is set up your privacy is not compromised at all. In fact I would of never known we had a neighbor unless I saw their car. We did not hear a peep. Gaea) #3 The YARD, PATIO & LAKE are awesome! It allows you to enjoy the best days of summer outside and grill to your heart's delight with the GRILL and BOATS found there! Here are 3 THINGS TO CONSIDER before renting. #1 NO PARTIES are permitted in our house or property at all times during your stay. #2 Our house is nice but its not perfect for all people, even though we have put lots of effort into this place there are always small what seem like trivial issues to most that really upset others such as, this is a Duplex, there is not a bathtub we have a stand up shower. There is a step up to get into the house. home is located RIGHT OFF OF US 31, Etc #3 We ask all our guests to respect the neighbors and to not be loud or yell or play loud music inside and outside the building at all times during their stay. We expect our Guests to be quiet after 11:00PM. So if you intend to behave like a party animal, our place is not for you but if you intend to behave like a resident, you should love your stay. Now that this is clear, let's get to the description of the place! The Perfect Getaway is located in Interlochen RIGHT OFF OF US 31 on LOST LAKE a 16 acre PRIVATE lake meaning privately owned by us, the center point of activities in the Traverse region. • Beautiful view. Cozy place. Great communication. Excellent amenities. It was a perfect weekend getaway with our pups.

    Emerald2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Jeff was very helpful leading up to the trip. We visited here for a snowboarding trip and loved that it was close to Crystal Mountain and Traverse City. We love visiting this area with our pups, so this was the perfect spot — so peaceful in the morning!

    Tori2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay! The lake was cool and the area was very nice.

    Pete2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommend this! Especially if you are a fisherman. This place is beautiful. The home is in a gorgeous lake and conveniently located to just about anything you could need. The home is as described. The extra little amenities were great especially for our weekend getaway, less to pack! And if you forget something there are stores right down the road. We went to the property for an ice fishing trip for the weekend and it was amazing. Theres a bait shop literally 2 houses down and the fishing was awesome and the lake is private which meant we had it to ourselves! The home was very clean and tastefully decorated. You are right off the highway, but inside the house you cant hear nothing of road noise. On our last night people were in the other half of the duplex but you couldn't hear them, with the exception of their dog barking. Jeff provided toiletries and little amenities like coffee and creamer and spices for cooking. The place even has a washer and dryer which was great to dry our wet clothes after ice fishing. Jeff was great with communicating making sure we arrived and were able to get in the home okay. The list of where to eat was great especially if you are unfamiliar with the area. We are hoping to come back again in the summer to see what the lake offers for fishing during the warm months.

  • We booked a place super last minute for a spontaneous trip north, and we were so excited to get a place this awesome so last minute, and then upon arriving it was even better than we already thought it was going to be! The space was modern but cozy, it had a beautiful yard and lake (which I'm sure is even more incredible in the summer), and Jeff literally provided EVERYTHING you could possibly need and was so helpful in general. Coffee, Netflix, extra blankets, a fan, a list of everything to do in town - this was by far my best Air Bnb experience. We will definitely be making a trip back in the future! Thank you Jeff!

    Steph2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Jeff is a phenomenal host who provided an amazing experience. I would recommend to anyone and will come back!

    Arlen2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great stay here. Good location (quick trip to downtown traverse city) and well equipped place. Jeff was very communicative and responds quickly through the air bnb app. The place was spotless.

    Minal2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • The place was exactly as described and in a great location. A short drive to Crystal Mountain or Traverse City and many great local spots in between. Jeff was a great host and always answered promptly, would definitely recommend!

  • Chris and Ruth are excellent Airbnb hosts! Their place is so cute and cozy. It’s in a really quiet neighborhood right on a lake, so you can expect some peace and quiet. Both of them are excellent at communicating with you if you need anything. I would definitely stay here again!

    Kyndra2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • Sooooo wonderful! It was beautiful and cozy and convenient and just perfect!

    Tracie2019-11-09T00:00:00Z
  • Chris and Ruth’s AirBnb apartment was fantastic. The place was very clean and has a very attractive and functional layout. A short walk on a path leading from the backyard takes one out to a beautiful lake. Thoughtful touches in the apartment also make this place a great place to stay when you are in Interlochen.

    Ed2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Harmony House was perfect. The view of the lake was absolutely beautiful. Chris and Ruth were extremely welcoming and helpful. Their space was cozy and clean with all the little details. A coffee/tea station made a perfect grab and go breakfast. Settled in a quaint neighborhood, you still get that semi secluded feel and it is a quick drive away from some pretty cool hot spots. 10 out 10 would stay here again and definitely recommend to others. Thanks so much Chris and Ruth!!!

  • This little home was perfect for our group of 6. We felt right at home and it was nice to relax after wine tasting all day

    Caleb2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great little place, very homey touches and stylish. We stayed in the winter and while the house has a heater that works great, you need to leave the bedroom doors open in order for the heat to get in, which loses some of your privacy. Other than that, good location for a house in the middle of all the popular spots of northwest michigan. The welcome board with my name on it was a nice touch to see upon arrival. Loved that we had the entire place to ourself and the lockbox made access super easy. I always sleep with ear plugs, so it was no problem, but this place is off a main road and you could hear cars from the bedrooms. House had an inviting deck and fire pit we were unable to try due to the winter weather.

  • We had a wonderful time! Seth's place was clean and they were very responsive to our questions!

    Seth2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed here while visiting my son at Interlochen. He was able to get off campus and stay nearby with me, and it was perfect. I appreciate how the hosts clearly take pride in this sweet little house with all sorts of cute touches. It was perfect for us and I know we will be back.

    Elizabeth2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • This place truly is a home away from home. My son is a student at Interlochen, and we stayed here so he could take a little break from the dorms. It was perfect for a little dose of “homeyness” for him and a comfortable and convenient place for us to stay together. We have already booked our next stay! The hosts are very hospitable. It has all the best of airbnb!

    Elizabeth2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Seth’s place was in great central location for us to pop into Traverse City for the day, get some runs in at Crystal Mountain, and do a scenic drive along M22. The place was very inviting, and looks as good as the pics. The bed was comfy, and the living room was perfect for relaxing after long days of exploring the surrounding area. For craft beer lovers, the Hofbrau bar/restaurant is within walking distance, with a nice selection of beers and good food. We would definitely stay again!

INTERLOCHEN, MI. — The only hostel in Northern Michigan. You get a bunk in one of our co-ed shared dorms. The bunk beds are hand-built and come with everything a budget traveler needs to crash after a day of checking out the "Most Beautiful Place in America." For private rooms, see Creekside Cottages' other listings.
More than an ordinary vacation rental, Creekside Cottages is privately-owned hostel & rental business that values friendship, local engagement, environmental stewardship, low-cost & sustainable tourism. Bellows Bunk room is a shared space. Expect to run into other travelers and year-round residents! We are located in authentic log cabin lodgings constructed during 1930s to serve the logging railroads. Think summer camp, deer camp, or Little House on the Prairie! Right on the main roadway in the Village of Interlochen, we are a 20-minute walk to the Interlochen Arts Academy and within five minutes to restaurants, public library, post office and shops. It is 20-30 minutes driving distance to downtown Traverse City or to Leelanau and Benzie Counties.
Directly across the road from amazing Bud's cafe; we're within walking distance of the Village of Interlochen's restaurants, shopping, Sunday farmer’s market, ice cream, putt putt golf, the post office, and public library, and within minutes of mountain bike and hiking trails; fishing, swimming, and navigable lakes and rivers; wineries, golfing, and scenic rides. Internationally renowned Interlochen Center for the Arts is less than one mile (1.6 km) from our doorstep. Each summer, over 2,000 kids from all over the world converge for the Interlochen Summer Arts Camp, studying music, theater, dance, creative writing, film and visual arts. Their annual Performing Arts Series is second to none. Check the schedule in advance, many concerts sell out quickly. Also nearby is the Interlochen State Park, Michigan‘s first state park, created in 1917 when the state purchased the remaining virgin pines to save the area from deforestation by the lumber companies. It is situated between Duck Lake & Green Lake, originally named Wahbekaness and Wahbekanetta by members of the Odawa people who lived here prior to the arrival of European settlers. The State Park includes a day-use area on Duck Lake that features a wide, sandy beach, designated swimming area and picnic shelter that can be rented. Surrounding the beach is a wooded picnic area and parking for 200 vehicles. A boat rental concession has rowboats on both Duck Lake and Green Lake and is open daily from Memorial Day to Labor Day. There are boat launches on both Duck Lake and Green Lake. There are plenty of local trails and haunts in Interlochen, but if you want the whirlwind tour of the area, we suggest Crystal Mountain for winter sports, Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore for summer excursions, downtown Traverse City for fine dining, entertainment, and microbreweries, and Old Mission or Leelanau Peninsulas for wineries, farms, small tourist towns and amazing views.

Very cute and cozy log home located on a 7 acre wooded lot! Great central location for everything that Northern Michigan has to offer!! 3.5 miles from Interlochen Arts Academy. Traverse City and Crystal Mountain are only 20 miles away and "The Most Beautiful Place in America" Sleeping bear Dunes is only 35 minutes away. Lost lake pathway is just a mile and half down the road which is great for hiking and biking!
It’s a pretty private lot but there are neighbors close by! There is also a trail 1.5 miles down the road that is absolutely beautiful! It’s called lost lake pathway!
  • Cozy cabin met all of our expectations! We were close enough to all activities to be able to hike, taste wine, enjoy a five star meal, and have a fire all in the same day!

    Kelsie2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • This cute cabin is right in the middle of so many great places to visit! So comfortable and cozy!

  • You will LOVE this cozy cabin in the woods. Very easy to find and close to Traverse City and other ‘Up North’ activities. Katrina is great to work with. Very clear instructions that allow you to relax and enjoy your stay!

    Michelle2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • I’ve stayed at many Airbnb’s over the years and this one was by far my favorite. This rustic spot in the woods was so cozy and relaxing.. I think I spent more time by the fire than anything else. The beds were very comfortable and the property was picturesque in the snow. I’ll have to come back and get a look in the spring! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED TO ALL!!!

    Travis2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Katrina's place was great, and we were so glad we could bring the dogs. It was perfect for a weekend away up north - just what we wanted. We had a wonderful weekend relaxing and exploring interlochen and traverse city. We would definitely stay here again.

    Samantha2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cabin! We especially enjoyed the fireplace, cozy blankets, and access to nearby trails. Thanks Katrina!

  • Cutest little cabin in the woods! Had absolutely everything we needed (including a fan I forgot and can’t sleep without!) There was even a tie out on the porch for our dog! Great location, clean and cozy. Would recommend.

Ellis Lake Resort is known for its cute, cozy, authentic log cabin lodging built in 1939. We are a step back in time when life was simple. If you love being in nature then you will love us. We are a Classic Northern Michigan Experience!
As you walk into the Maple log cabin, you are welcomed into a rustic space of quiet charm and classic log cabin features. The Maple has a combination living room/kitchen/bedroom and separate bathroom with a shower. This allows for comfortable sleeping, plenty of relaxation in the living area along with a small fully stocked kitchenette in which you can creatively cook. The Maple offers plenty of room for 2 adults and 2 small children, or 3 adults with a queen bed and double futon. This is one of our more economical cabins as it sits on the front part of our property, closest to the main road (If the sound of traffic is disturbing to you, we recommend that you have a look at our other cabins located further away from the road. Our Doghouse, Birch and Elm to name a few). WIFI is located near the office area. Our year round cabin offers air conditioning for the hot summer days and nights and a gas furnace for warmth to take the chill of winter away. For your outdoors enjoyment you have your own private charcoal grill, picnic table and fire pit. From your cabin door, it is just a short walk to our waterfront area on Ellis Lake or to our outdoor (common share) hot tub located in the woods beneath the pines and stars (sign up board located outside office for 1 hours of private usage). Provided in cabin: *Toaster *Coffee maker and filters *Basic spices *Pots, pans, utensils, dishes *Dish soap *Linens *Towels *Charcoal grill *A/C *WIFI - located at office area Available Upon Request: *Iron and Ironing board Guest access: *Onsite private parking *Access to our private water front area on Ellis Lake (known for it fishing) Other Amenities: *Canoes *Row boats *Paddle boats *Deck at water front with tables, chairs, umbrellas *Playground near cabins *Tether ball *Horseshoes *Corn Hole Other things to note: We have 13 different units on the property. • The Maple cabin was even cuter than the pictures! We stayed warm and cozy every night. We were greeted by Becky with readily information about traverse city and things to do. The drive to downtown was a short 18-20 min. We cannot wait to book a summer trip!

    Emily2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a nice time staying in the Spruce cabin, Becky was very kind and answered any questions we had in a very timely manner. We enjoyed the private hot tub. The flowers and cookies were a very nice touch! The WiFi worked here and there but, it’s a really nice spot to get away and take a break from life. Would recommend and come back again!

  • Cute, cozy, and clean cabin. Becky, the host was very friendly and helpful!

    Kristen2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay at Ellis Lake resort. The cabin was cozy, comfortable, and very clean and perfect for a weekend getaway. The cabin itself was a bit drafty (we visited during November), however with the heat on and the ceiling fan circulating the air, it got quite toasty inside. I would definitely stay again.

    Jenna2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Rustic, for sure, but it is as pictured and CLEAN. Perfect getaway for our anniversary weekend, and the hosts went the extra mile with extra touches to note our special reason for getting away.

    Jennifer2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Becky’s place is part of a resort. It is a nice cabin with a rustic interior. It is in a string of cabins with some shared amenities like the hot tub. It was a great compromise for a couple one of whom loves camping and the other who likes big cities

  • Great place for little get away from the busy Chicago life. Close to Traverse City and all the wineries. We frequent the area so this was a nice place to add to list of places to stay at. Cozy and quiet, just what we needed. Soak tub was a must have and plenty of room for two, actually more than enough. Thanks for having us!

  • Great getaway up north! Very convenient to a grocery store, local restaurants, and outdoor amenities, with Traverse City only a short (~25 min) drive away. Lots of nice touches throughout. Likely best for a couple or very small group of friends, as the common area is nice but a bit on the cozy side. Was great for me & my husband and our pup!

    Shelie2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Extremely clean. Excellent replies from host. Very cute decorating. The residence was exactly as pictured & we loved the touches for our pup.

Only 10 minutes from Traverse City and 15 minutes to Crystal Mountain Ski/Golf Resort! The world renowned Interlochen Arts Academy is 1min away! Check out their concert line-up! This well furnished home has lake access and beautiful gardens!
There will always be clean bedding and towels for our guest. The home is cleaned to perfection after each stay. There is beautiful landscape that's always well maintained too!
It's peaceful, safe, and there's low traffic. It's on a dead end street so people don't drive too fast.
  • This was perfect for our annual sister weekend! Close to Traverse City, nice neighborhood , cozy and clean.

  • Great little cottage.

    Kelly2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved staying at this cottage! Its eclectic decor is charming, it’s clean with a great kitchen and bathroom, well stocked with plenty of everything you could possibly need, incredibly comfortable, and even has a cozy fireplace. Great location that’s easy to find, close enough to TC, but far enough that you’re not surrounded by tourists, and practically across the street from Inty. There is a beautiful lake across the street, but we couldn’t figure out where the public access was; however, we didn’t spend much time looking. The concierge was there to greet us when we arrived, was very friendly, and even had the courtesy to get up from the driveway, where she’d been laying. She was also at the front door every morning, to make sure we had everything we needed. She didn’t say much, but did make extra effort to rub against our legs several times, and was available in the evening for entertainment. We didn’t catch her name, but if you stay there, you can’t miss her... she’s grey, with fur and four legs. Highly recommend!!

  • Awesome place in a really convenient location, I truly recommend it!

    Eduardo2019-08-31T00:00:00Z

Lakeview Retreat Cottage is across a small, dead-end street from Duck Lake. The cottage has a nice view of the lake and is only about 150 feet from a public dock access. The location is ideal for visiting many surrounding areas including Traverse City, Frankfort, Suttons Bay, Leland, and Empire. Our guests have enjoyed watching the sunrises on the lake, sunsets at Lake Michigan, and exploring our beautiful area.
Lakeview Retreat Cottage has beautiful hardwood floors and comfortable beds. We also offer an outside area including a hammock, gas grill, a picnic table, and a campfire area with chairs. We provide firewood. We also have a basketball hoop and a basketball next to the driveway. Duck Lake is very clean and guests can bring kayaks, paddle boards, or other water "toys" to enjoy the lake. There are also many beautiful hiking and biking trails.
Because the cottage is on a dead end road, it is very quiet with lots of woods in addition to the lake nearby. It is a great area to take walks or go for a run or a bike ride. Interlochen State Park and Interlochen Arts Academy are also within walking distance. My husband and I have put together lists of restaurants and "things to do" that we leave for our guests in the cottage.
  • A very quaint and quiet place. My husband and I loved the fire pit and the basketball net. It was a great trip away and exactly what we needed!

    Angela2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Quaint little cottage located ideally between Traverse City and Sleeping Bear Dunes. Ideal for taking long walks. We visited in the fall so weren't able to use the lake but enjoyed the lovely Michigan scenery.

    Susan2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to relax and get away from everything! You feel removed enough from the city but you are still just 30mins to downtown Traverse City. We were very happy with our stay!

    Bianca2019-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful cottage to escape to for a couple days. We really appreciated how secluded and quiet the place was while still being able to easily get to the whole Traverse City area. Would highly recommend!

  • Toni is a great host! The cottage was super clean, quiet and cute! We hope to return again soon! Great experience!

  • A truly great find! Fantastic location, excellent price... If it's available, stay here!

    Steven2019-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was clean with lots of great outdoor space as well. The fire pit has an endless supply of wood for casual evenings fireside. The basketball hoop kept our boys entertained for hours, and the hammock was a relaxing spot to read. Toni was quick to answer my questions with advice on making the most of our time in MI. Toni and Gary were so personable and accessible but were very respectful of letting us have uninterrupted time at the cottage. An excellent experience!!!

    Brenda2019-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was very cute and quaint. Very clean with lots of amenities. I did think it backed up to a lake based on one of the photos. It does not. There is a public entrance to the lake visitors can access that is down at the end of the road. There are restaurants, stores and gas station nearby, which was convenient. Host was friendly, helpful and answered quickly. We enjoyed our stay.

  • This is the second time we have stayed with Ashley. The location is perfect for visiting the Traverse City area and especially Interlochen and the Arts Academy which is mere minutes away. The accommodations are stylish and spotless. My wife and I enjoyed 'catching up' with Ashley after our 1st visit and stay earlier this year.

    Kevin2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • Ashley & Kevin's place was perfect! Very clean, quiet, and nice touches like an extra blanket on the guest bed and a drawer full of commonly forgotten toiletries in the guest bathroom.

  • We highly recommend this AirBnB. Ashley and Kevin were delightful hosts who gave great suggestions about things to do and where to eat in the area. Also impressive was that Kevin built the house with many nice features and together they decorated it beautifully. A lovely place to stay, convenient to traverse city and other sights in the area.

  • Amazing place and location! Dave and Melanie were outstanding hosts!

    Vivian2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • We wanted a quiet, romantic, and special getaway and the chalet gave us everything and more! The space was large and the hot tub and sauna were so luxurious. We felt super at home and were provided everything we needed (from a wine chiller to eye make-up remover to numerous and quality towels to a space heater in case we got chilly... they thought of everything!). We hope to return during a different season to explore the area and hiking trails more than we were able to (it was a bit cold for us). I highly recommend this spot for your stay!

    Celeste2019-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • This was such a unique and amazing place. We really enjoyed the hot tub and sauna being right in the room. The weather wasn't great while we were there so we didn't use the kayaks , but think it is wonderful that you have the opportunity to do so. Great views of the lake and David was very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back!

    Amanda2019-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful Views from every window! Short walk to national forest trails! Perfect place for a getaway:)

    Janelle2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommend for anyone looking for a romantic getaway and a great host. The peaceful view of the lake and the sauna and spa are a great touch!

    Rico2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at the Chalet, so relaxing to wake up to a view of the first and enjoy the hot tub overlooking the lake. We went on the kayaks to watch the sunset, very peaceful! And the breakfast was delicious, restaurant quality. So convenient and fun. Would definitely recommend this place.

  • This was a perfect location for our needs and a wonderfully clean and comfortable place to rest between events. Very convenient to Interlochen Center for the Arts (which is why we booked here) and to Benzonia and Frankfort, which we love to visit. 2 adults, 1 tweenager. We loved being able to play ping-pong, too. Heather was immediately responsive to all of our questions and was a great host.

  • This house is the perfect combination of feeling secluded in the woods, and being close to everything. The house was beautiful and comfortable. We sat around the fire pit and had a fire, we played ping pong, and we had everything we needed to cook for ourselves. I would definitely stay here again!

  • This place is even better than the description and reviews make it sound in my opinion so I will do my best to explain why! It’s described as very basic and it is, but it’s basic PLUS. I’m very into cooking and I was surprised to find how well accommodated the kitchen was. Short of pot holders there was literally anything I could have needed to make anything I would have made. This is rare in a vacation rental. The stove and refrigerator are also very nice! We stayed two nights and did not have to buy any additional paper products or garbage bags and almost all cleaning products needed to tidy up after yourself were there (no broom and dust pan during our visit.) The linens were comfortable and there were plenty of them. Thick towels and wash cloths, nice sheets and blankets and decent pillows. And the beds and furniture were comfortable and in great condition as well. Not to mention Bass Lake is a very pleasant and quiet lake. The area behind the house facing the lake provides enough privacy from neighbors and with a picnic table, a couple of chairs bbq and fire pit we really didn’t need to bring anything extra except a couple of beach towels! Andrew checked in with us before and during our stay and all the information we needed to make checking in and out was available and the process was easy as could be. I would definitely recommend a stay here and would definitely stay again! A+ experience!

  • This little place was amazing. Such a gem in our northern Michigan tour. It’s even cuter and more thoughtful than the photos suggest. Every detail was carefully considered. It’s a tiny, very efficient space where every area has been optimized for both form and function. The decor is very cute and curated perfectly - lots of personal touches and creativity, nothing that feels like a boring hotel. We loved the space, the towels and sheets were nice, great bath mat, good dishes for the size and space. We brought our baby with us so the nice big washer and dryer were fantastic too. The only note if you visit on a hot summer night is that there is no AC. Be sure to air it out with the fans they provided to ensure it’s cool enough to sleep. (Not relevant if you visit this area outside of mid-July to August !). The host was amazing. We left some bottles and pump parts in the microwave and she mailed them back to us. First class service!!

  • Beautiful and cozy! We loved the record player and all of the decor. This is the perfect base for exploring the Sleeping Bear Dunes and Traverse City area. I would definitely stay here again!

a cottage studio complex and hostel in the Village of Interlochen. This private, updated apartment is super convenient for the solo traveler or couple needing a good base if you are spending most of your time at the Interlochen Arts Academy or out & about exploring the area. For more social accommodations, see Creekside Cottages' other listings.
Directly across the road from the recently opened public library & amazing Bud's cafe; we're within walking distance of the Village of Interlochen's restaurants, shopping, Sunday farmer’s market, ice cream, putt putt golf, the post office, and public library, and within minutes of mountain bike and hiking trails; fishing, swimming, and navigable lakes and rivers; wineries, golfing, and scenic rides.
  • The cabin was exactly what we expect and wanted, rustic. It was just the camp like feel we wanted. The bathroom was kinda small for my 6’3” fiancé, but the cabin is small and just what we needed it for. To sleep. We did a lot of traveling on this trip and it’s in a great location between Traverse City and the Sleeping Bear dunes. We will definitely be coming back next year. 😄

  • There are BBQs outside each cabin - that was really cool. The cabins were super clean - no bugs even! And the frigde was larger than expected (not a mini). It's a super convenient location and lots of little sweet touches in the cabin in terms of decor. We will for sure stay there next time we visit Interlochen!

  • The wooden house is pretty and it is just as described. It was a little smaller than I expected but it has everything you need. I was surprised to find besides refrigerator and microwave it still provide dish clean detergent! In front of every house, there’s firepit and benchs you can gather around. Becky is well communicative and give us a lot of instructions. I was able to fix the outage with her clear instructions. The officer lady there help us make our travel plan and gave us a lot of useful advices on our trip. We really appreciate that. People here are nice! The surrounding environment was also great. There are beach and boat launching point around the resort. A kid’s playground is around. And there’s a hottub outside for you to sign on and use. However, there’s too many mosquitoes around. And those mosquitoes are quite brave. So I will pass it. Overall, we enjoy stay here. I think it’s a great place to stay!

  • Ellis Lake resort is a cozy little place that was nice to spend the weekend in. Hot tub and lake access were really nice. The only heads up I would provide is that the Oak room is attached to another cabin, although there was zero bleed through of sound from the other guest. We had a great weekend here!

  • I set up this air bnb for my wedding DJ and he was so grateful to stay in a local location near the wedding instead of a hotel miles and miles away. He said it was a perfect cozy cabin and was great for what he needed. Becky had great communication with myself and even said she would help me if other guests needed a place to stay. I’d love to book with her again and recommend to anyone looking into a cozy cabin near in this area!

  • Woodsy cabin with lake house charm! Plus the boats were a nice treat. The whole peninsula was busy over the 4th but we didn’t notice!

Relax and restore yourself in this home that is nestled on an acre of forestland yet has ease of access directly off US 31. You can hear the call of Loons in the summer and see wildlife all year round. Interlochen Arts Academy is a mile down the road, Traverse City is a 15 minute drive and 30 minutes from Leelanau wineries, Sleeping Bear Dunes and Crystal Mtn. The home is decorated with woodland and cozy furnishings for an inviting cabin feel.
Wonderful private home, yet there is so much available in the neighborhood and surrounding area.
You will enjoy being a mile away from Interlochen Arts Center. Within that mile you will find Small shops, The Haufbrau restaurant, post office, beautiful new library and my favorite coffee and lunch spot, Bud's.
  • Our family really enjoyed our stay. The home was well appointed and had everything we needed to make the stay perfect. We spent our days at Crystal Mountain (30 min away), but had a great place to come back to for cooking a nice meal and relaxing. We enjoyed watching the birds and squirrels on the deck! Elizabeth was very responsive when we booked and we appreciate that. Would not hesitate to book this home again!!

    Amy2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Pack light because all your going to need are your clothes & some personal toiletries. Elizabeth is an amazing host and person. She wanted to know our trip interest so she personalized a folder with brochure information of activities in the area (Nice touch). She even provided us with eggs, bacon, pancake mix, and syrup for a nice breakfast for the next day. The home is immaculate. It’s loaded with pillows, blankets, and towels. The kitchen is fully stocked with pots, pans, utensils, and spices. I can go on with the amenities. Overall, the house is a home away from home. Even though our trip was a bust ( No Snow) with Elizabeth’s personalized folder we were able to find alternative family things to do in the area. You won’t be disappointed.

  • Loon Lake cottage was clean and cozy. Just enough amenities to provide a great weekend getaway. Close enough to tourist locations to not have a long drive, and far away enough to have some space.

  • Loon Landing was the perfect place for us to stay on our Grand Traverse Bay vacation! The space was very clean, recently redone, and comfortable. Nathan was a great host. If we every are back in the Traverse City Area, we would definitely return

  • Nathan’s place was very cute and cozy! We loved having the kitchen and amenities in there. We also loved the space and how everything was so easy to access from the house. The lake is beautiful to look at, although we never went to the public access to take a swim, we enjoyed the view from the deck. All in all a great visit!

  • This place is perfect! We went for a bachelorette weekend and this house had everything we needed. It’s spacious and right next to the water, which was beautiful even in the winter. There are plenty of beds, pillows, linens and the 3 full bathrooms made it easy for 9 of us to get ready. It was a 20 minute drive to downtown Traverse City and the airport. Communication was quick and they even let me check in early since my flight got in early. I would definitely recommend this place!

    Samantha2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • This place is really nice and the location can’t be beat! I stayed here with 14 of my friends for an icefishing weekend on March 6. The house was clean and spacious and was very comfortable for everyone. The views from the living room are outstanding! The only downfall was the fishing wasn’t great but that’s probably our fault.

    Adam2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect home for a large group. The location is great for access to Crystal Mountain and Traverse City. Beautiful home.

    Mary Jane2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • The house is beautiful! We had 12 girls, and the space was perfect and big enough for everyone. The kitchen is AMAZING and perfect for hosting a large group. The host was great to work with and gave us several recommendations on where to dine, local wineries, etc. Definitely would go again!

    Kali2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Our group of 11 had a lovely stay over New Years. The home is very clean and surprisingly spacious. The large kitchen was very well stocked for cooking meals and the bedrooms had a great layout allowing every family their own space (and bathrooms too!) The location is beautiful on the lake and feels very “up north” while still being very convenient (grocery store was only 5 minutes away). We were able to ski at Crystal Mountain during the day and head to town at night for a nice dinner. Highly recommend this property for anyone looking to stay in a gorgeous up north location with great amenities.

    Mary2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • The space is very well designed and decorated. The house is super clean. We were really impressed with how spacious the rooms and common areas were. And the kitchen is huge with a double oven and six range burner, all the utensils and cooking wear we needed for our family Christmas meals were already there. It was great to have such a comfortable clean and spacious accommodation for our stay.

    Michael2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Great kitchen for preparing a meal for a large group.

    Sean2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommend this home. Fabulous layout that facilitates both group and individual comfort. Kitchen had high end appliances, fully equipped, and was spacious enough to accommodate several chefs and helpers at the same time. Well decorated. Bedrooms were very comfortable and able to handle different sleeping arrangements. Literally steps away from the lake, and garage included several types of water equipment. Although our group was all adults, the space could very nicely handle multi-generation groups. We were greeted with a welcome basket of coffee and snacks, and a handout that included everything we would need to know. One of our more pleasurable vacation home experiences.

Traverse City was named Midwest Living’s “Greatest Midwest Town!” Traverse City has earned its reputation as a four-season destination thanks to its almost endless offerings of activities. And while our town has been voted one of the most charming places in the country, it’s anything but sleepy! You’ll find live music for every taste including jazz, classical, indy and rock at our local restaurants and watering holes. Or visit one of the area’s two casinos for some vegas-style gambling. Kids and families will find plenty of fun distractions playing mini-golf or climbing the now world-famous Sleeping Bear Dunes. Travel back to the 1950s for some good, old-fashioned fun at the local drive-in theatre, or spend a rainy day playing laser tag, billiards or bowling indoors. Traverse City has a rich maritime history as evidenced by our beautiful lighthouses and maritime museums. And the lovely Tall Ships that glide along West Grand Traverse Bay are a long-time favorite sight for locals and visitors alike. Take a day trip to historic Mackinac Island, named one of the best islands in the world by the 2018 Conde Nast Traveler’s “Reader’s Choice Awards.” Earlier this year the island was voted the #1 hottest U.S. destination for summer travel by TripAdvisor. Outdoor recreation enthusiasts can choose from both summer and winter sports galore. And when you need a break from the great outdoors, you can take in a film at the restored State Theatre, tour a lighthouse, visit one of our many art galleries or take in a museum. Stroll through our vibrant downtown shopping district or venture into the shops, galleries and restaurants at the historic Grand Traverse Commons. We have some excellent golfing too. Thanks to 3 different designers on three different courses, the Grand Traverse Resort boasts a colorful palette of courses; each offering varying levels of challenge. The Bear, The Wolverine and Spruce Run are some of the most sought after courses in northern Michigan for the extraordinary experience they offer is golfers. Dining, Wine & Beer Thanks to our award-winning wines and talented local chefs, Traverse City enjoys an international reputation as a place of surprisingly sophisticated food and drink. Midwest Living has listed Traverse City among its Five Top Food Towns, and Bon Appetit has listed it as one of America’s Top Five Foodie towns. Our eclectic cuisine borrows freely from other regional styles and relies heavily on imagination, boldness and spunk. Capitalizing on fresh ingredients from nearby farms, forests, lakes, streams and orchards our restaurateurs seem to be on a mission to showcase the best of what the area has to offer. And what could go better with all this culinary bounty than a fine wine? The beautiful Leelanau and Old Mission peninsulas are dotted with vineyards and award-winning wineries that have established a firm reputation for crisp, intensely flavorful wines. People in northern Michigan know wine from Leelanau County is great, now it's being recognized nationwide. The Leelanau Wine Trail was named third best wine region in the country according to 10Best Readers' Choice travel award contest by USA Today. The wine trail was also named Best Overall Wine Region in Michigan by Michigan by the Bottle Readers’ Choice Awards. Draft Magazine named Traverse City one of “America’s Emerging Beer Towns” and the Travel Channel listed it among the “Top Seven Beer Destinations in North America,” the town’s beer scene has yet to slow down. In the winter, snowmobile or cross country ski right from the house. Only 20 minutes to Crystal Mountain Ski Resort and Spa and Mount Holiday ski resort, with snowboarding, downhill skiing, tubing runs and a zip line. We know you will fall in love with Brookside Cottages as we did. This is the spot you will look forward to returning every year! Zachary2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay at the Birch Cabin for a family of five! Enjoyed the many boating options for Ellis Lake and caught bass and bluegill quite easily! The swimming platform was in a great spot for older kids and adults. The only thing that bummed us a bit was that there was no beach area to swim, so FYI for those with little kids. The cabin was clean and had just enough kitchen supplies to get us by! Enjoyed the hot tub in the woods- nice and toasty! Very quick drive into Traverse City! Overall great stay!

  • Decent hostel with a cozy fireplace that's perfect for reading a book. It's just down the road from Interlochen Arts Academy and about a 25 minute drive from Traverse City. As with any hostel, your experience varies with who is staying in the room with you. All in all, it was a good experience and I was impressed that Nellie came by to greet me after I checked in.

  • This was my 3rd stay (4th night) here and I will be going back. It has everything you need if you are passing through town, staying for the weekend, or just need a place to sleep. Great place for solo travelers, and great value for the area! The other guests were very respectful and quiet in the bunk room as well. Overall, great value and very accurately described.

    Seger2019-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • This was my second stay here and I will be staying again! This is a great value for the area, if you need a bed to sleep in. The place is accurately described. A shared sleeping area, 2 bathrooms, 2 kitchens, and a living/area separate from the sleeping room. The outdoor area is a beautiful place to eat your dinner, hangout, have a fire. Also plenty of places near by to get dinner and/or ice cream. Awesome location, less than a mile to Interlochen State Park and 12-ish miles to downtown Traverse City. Again this place is very accurately described! I’ve had multiple night stays with no issues at all.

    Seger2019-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • The place is very accurately described. Nice, affordable place to crash for the night with all the basic necessities. Location is great! Beautiful area with plenty of restaurants near by. I stayed the night while in town for work and appreciated the affordability for a place to sleep and shower.

This amazing house was conceived with vacation travelers in mind. YES we are PET FRIENDLY. You’ll love this GEM of a place because of location we are close to numerous activities and great restaurants. Our vacation home is located on a 16 acre PRIVATE Lake, Lost Lake. RIGHT OFF US 31 just 1/2 mile from the traffic light in Interlochen. 50" Smart TV with NETFLIX 26 miles to the SLEEPING BEAR DUNES 3 miles to IAC 13 miles TRAVERSE CITY 3 miles Blue Bridge Event Center!
This special property features 2 separate units that are not connected internally aka a Duplex both are dedicated to vacation travelers, entrances are on opposite sides of the house, only thing shared is the dock at the lake, here are a few things PEOPLE LOVE about The Grey Stone House. Brian" #1 Location 5 minutes to the World renowned Interlochen Arts Academy, 17 miles to Crystal Mountain! 20 minutes to TRAVERSE CITY, 26 miles to the SLEEPING BEAR DUNES National Park!!! 3 miles to the Blue Bridge Events Center, 1/2 mile to Interlochen Golf course, 30 miles to The Homestead, and is located on 16 acre Lost Lake, RIGHT OFF of US 31, just 1/2 mile from the traffic light in Interlochen #2 Our house is newly remodeled, the unit is AIR CONDITIONED for those warm summer days, great effort has went into sound proofing one side from the other, this is what a recent guest had to say (The way the duplex is set up your privacy is not compromised at all. In fact I would of never known we had a neighbor unless I saw their car. We did not hear a peep. Gaea) #3 Our FIRE PIT area! After exploring our beautiful area for the day come home and relax at by a fire, it is just a real cool place to hang out overlooking the lake. #4 Down by the lake we have a deck area with screened in Gazebo for your use! #5 THE LAKE, we have a couple of boats for your use, row around the lake, check out the Beaver Dam on the other side! Oh yes there is fish in it as well. #6 The YARD, PATIO & LAKE are awesome since it allows you to enjoy the best days of summer outside and grill to your heart's delight with the GRILL found there. Here are 3 THINGS TO CONSIDER before renting. #1 NO PARTIES are permitted in our house or property at all times during your stay. #2 Our house is nice but its not perfect for all people, even though we have put lots of effort into this place there are always small what seem like trivial issues to most that really upset others such as, this house is a Duplex, there is no bathtub we have a stand up shower, there is no dishwasher, located RIGHT OFF of US 31, road noise when outside etc. #3 We ask all our guests to respect the neighbors and to not be loud or yell or play loud music inside and outside the building at all times during their stay. We expect our Guests to be quiet after 11:00PM. So if you intend to behave like a party animal, our place is not for you but if you intend to behave like a resident, you should love your stay. Now that this is clear, let's get to the description of the place. The Grey Stone House is located in Interlochen right off of US 31, on Lost Lake a 16 acre lake, the center point of activities in the Traverse region. We can accommodate 6 GUESTS. THE Grey Stone House (right side of unit A BLUE DOOR) This unit features a kitchen that is fully equipped with all the essentials such as POTS & PANS, COFFEE MAKER, TOASTER, BLENDER, SLOW COOKER and your basic kitchen items to cook a nice meal. This is a 2 BEDROOM unit with a queen size bed's & all the linens you will need. The living room has a QUEEN SIZE HIDE A BED COUCH for 2 extra people (for a total of 6 guests) 50” Smart TV with Netflix, also has ULTRA FAST 5G WIFI . The bathroom has a STAND UP SHOWER, HAIR DRYER, IRON & BOARD and WASHER & DRYER so that you can take care of your laundry needs. This unit has a beautiful private deck with FIRE PIT area which overlooks the lake, we also have a PATIO TABLE / CHAIRS & outside GRILL, a screened in Gazebo down by the lake, so that you can truly enjoy those long summer days.
This property is part of a 37 acre partial & is basically located in the center of it, RIGHT OFF of US 31, other than a small part of the lake, we own it including the lake shore so it is a private lake.
