The most tranquil and best value place to stay in Cashel. Luxury accommodation with complete peace and quite and only 5 minutes into Cashel. A car is essential. Guess access is a spacious double room with a divinely comfortable king size bed you wont want to leave. Care is taken with every detail... from duçk down duvet and pillows, memory foam mattress topper, hotel grade cotton sheets. The room has been designed professionally to create a restful space. The only sound you will hear are the birds. Your bath room is for your use only. It is a large bathroom with a full size bath and shower. Breakfast is not provided and there is no access to the kitchen or the rest of the house. However your host can tell you where to get a great breakfast at very reasonable prices. It is a perfect stopping off point between Dublin and Kerry or Cork and a great place to chill out. Cashel is the gourmet capital of Tipperary. Your host will give you recommendations based on your tastes and price range from the best fish and chips to the gourmet. She can tell you how to get into the Rock of Cashel for free (saving you 6 euro per person). Her passion is travel and finding out of the way unusual places far from the tourist traps and will happily share them with you. You will get your own key to your room and the house and can come and go as you please.
Peaceful area 3km from cashel. 4 min drive but not suitable for public transport. in the heart of The Golden Vale yet close to major transport routes. Tipperary is a county of immense natural beauty, with a unique and ancient heritage. Shaped by the rugged Galtee Mountains and the River Suir, Tipperary has some of Irelands most breathtaking scenery and dotted with towns and villages. Cashel is home to the iconic Rock of Cashel. One of the most spectacular tourist attractions in Ireland and one of the most visited. Cashel’s rich history is reflected in its built heritage, from prehistoric earth mounds to mediaeval monasteries and fortified town houses, a Georgian Cathedral and a 21st century Library (which holds regular exhibitions, workshops and concerts). The Georgian quarter also boasts the Bolton Library where you can find the smallest book in Ireland. With 3 mountain ranges nearby its a mecca for the outdoors. Cycling routes are endless! Sadly most visitors just overnight in Tipperary and miss out on so much. Instead of rushing from Dublin to Kerry like the masses, why not stay a little longer and explore Irelands Ancient East with advice from a guide who will help you find the interesting, less visited, less touristic places.

  • You will immediately feel welcomed as if it were your own home. She made us feel like family even though it was only a quick stay. Helen’s tips were outstanding! Two of of favorite places in our whole stay so far were tips from her: Cahir Castle and the Rock of Dunamase. Also, you were extremely thoughtful to bring us coffee the night we arrived. We would definitely stay here again!

  • Nice place; good beds , good bathroom with shower and bath and a very good host

    Agnes2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Unbelievably cozy place in a very silent place by the Cashel. Perfect for intermediate stays to travel to Killarney and Cliffs of Moher. Rock of Cashel is worth visiting as well. Helen is really charming: she met me with the coffee and gave me instructions on where to go in the city. By the way, I do recommend Grogan's place 😊

    Cashel, County Tipperary, Ireland

Immerse yourself in the history of the Irish from the stone-age people who came here 10,000 years ago, the first farmers, the bronze and iron ages, the arrival of St Patrick and Christianity, the invasion by the Vikings and Normans. Handle items from all these periods and coins from the time the castle was built in the late 1,400’s. This 15th century castle has been lovingly restored and mixes the ancient with modern comforts. You will have the exclusive use of the castle during your stay.
The castle is rented in its entirety and caters for up to seven guests. All guests are welcomed with a detailed tour of the entire castle. This includes a summary of Irish history and explains why castles like Grantstown were built. I then take my guests on a tour of the building floor by floor to ensure that they can maximise the facilities during their stay. The tour ends at the level of the battlements when guests can enjoy the full 360 degree panorama that this unique view of the Golden Vale gives. As they gaze down on the deep green fields below they frequently say that this truly is the Emerald Isle that they were expecting to see. The 500 year old castle has been meticulously restored. Each floor is unique and architecturally fascinating. Grantstown castle was built during the first part of the 'Tudor' period. I suspect the building date could be as early as 1480 but it was certainly in existence during the reign of Henry VIII. The first documented evidence is found in the much cited "Ormond Deeds" of 1549, when the castle was owned by the very prominent 'de Burgos' family. I have left a printed comprehensive history of the castle in a folder which is on the coffee table in the Great Hall. I have also loaded a copy onto a laptop which is also available to guests in the Great Hall. It contains a huge number of photos showing Grantstown as a ruin and then through all the various stages of restoration. The castle is comprised of six floors, connected via a stone and oak spiral staircase. The ground floor is divided into three areas: a modern fitted kitchen, a dining room and bathroom with toilet, wash hand basin and electric shower. The first floor comprises of a double bedroom which is spacious, comfortable and with a combination of period and bespoke furniture. The second floor is the vaulted bedroom with the same combination of furnishings as the bedroom below. There is also an ensuite bathroom with a toilet and wash hand basin. The Great Hall is on the third floor. This was the original living area of the castle. The room contains three bespoke sofas and other soft seating. There is a banqueting table, which can seat up to 12 guests. The 'library' section contains a varied selection of books from Irish, English, American and Canadian authors, some DVD's, CD's and games. The fifth floor is the 'Minstrel Gallery’, which surrounds the upper space of the Great Hall, and gives access to the attic room within the roof of the castle. There is a bathroom on the fifth floor with toilet, wash hand basin and bath. There is a single bedroom on the sixth floor. The castle has great battlements which are accessible at the top of the staircase. They are on two levels, the higher level is accessed by narrow stone steps which 'hang' from the wall of the castle. The views from the top of the castle are extensive and include the Galtee mountains to the south, (the Galtees are Ireland's highest inland mountain range, taking the form of a high ridge which rises up almost sheer from the surrounding plain. The highest peak is Galtymore, which rises to 917 m (3,009 ft). The Silvermine mountains to the north, (the highest peak of the range is Slieve Ciamalta or Keeper Hill. A partial view of the Knockmealdown mountains beyond the Galtees. Slievenamon mountain visible to the south east is a striking conical mass, (it stands at 721 m (2,365 ft). The Devil's Bit mountain is seen on a clear day to the north east. The Rock of Cashel to the east is visible to the naked eye but it is not always easy to recognise without some assistance; small binoculars are provided. An enormous effort was made to restore the castle as it would have appeared at the time of its construction. The battlements in particular have been heavily restored using beautiful hand worked Irish limestone. All the original corbels were utilised to support wooden beams, although not original, some of these beams are as many as 200 years old. Most of the window stonework is original, only two have required a complete re-build. All the doors are American oak, as are the double beds (constructed within the rooms they occupy as it was not possible to get very large pieces of furniture up the spiral stairs), and the table in the Great Hall. A great deal of the other furniture is 17th Century English, (rather more easily available than Irish furniture of that period), in order to give a period effect to the rooms where possible. Every effort has been made to make the castle as comfortable as possible for guests. Fine linen will be found in all the beds and large luxury towels and bath-robes are provided in each of the bedrooms. Will the castle be free of spiders and their webs? Lets face it, a lot of generation of spiders have occupied the building over the past 500 years. Thankfully the spiders largely remain out of sight but the constant fight to rid the place of all the webs goes on. I try desperately hard to ensure the castle is as clean as possible but some of the mortar ends up as bits of grit on the stairs despite my best efforts on a daily basis. The castle is six storeys high (22 metres), so it is 72 steps to the top via the spiral staircase. Guests will be able to access all the floors in the castle listed above. Access to the battlements will be in the presence of the host only. We advise guests, particularly those who are in the attic bedroom, to have a light night-bag which with to bring their belongings up and down the stairs. Large suitcases would be tiresome to haul up the staircase, although this is possible for the first and second floor bedrooms. Whilst every effort has been made to make the castle safe, please be aware some doorways are rather low, and the staircase itself is not accessible for the less-abled. Your host will repeatable remind guests to 'mind their head' when there is a low doorway. Please take care, we want everyone to have the most enjoyable experience when they visit. There are two prisons (oubliettes) within the walls of the castle, access to one of these is covered with reinforced glass which allows the room to be viewed. The original entrance to the other prison is covered with a stout timber hatch. However, there is now easy access to this particular room via a new doorway broken through the stone wall about ten years ago. Prior to this, the access to this oubliette was down a deep shaft. Guests are allowed to use the kitchen which has an electric cooker, a Combi microwave, fridge/freezer, food processor, kettle, toaster and dishwasher. Tea, coffee, bread, butter, jam/honey are provided and I like to supply some eggs and cereal for breakfast. I also supply some olive oil and a range of dried herbs, salt and pepper. Once I have done the tour of the castle and explained how to use the various facilities I tend to allow guests to simply get on with enjoying the place. My goal is to make you feel welcomed, comfortable and well informed. County Tipperary has a lot to offer its visitors. There are mountains to climb, an excellent golf course at Dundrum House Hotel which is just four miles away. The Rock of Cashel is one of Ireland's most important historic site's and is six miles distant. The town of Cashel is very historic and worth visiting. Altogether I can accommodate up to seven people as there are three beautiful and characterful double bedrooms and then a small single room.
Grantstown Castle is in the middle of one of the two arms of the Golden Vale. The farmland in the area is amongst the best in Ireland and is largely used for dairying in this area but is more mixed wider afield. Six mountain ranges can be seen from the battlements on most days. The largest of these are the Galtee mountains . Further south and 'behind' te Galtees are the Knockmealdowns, The Comeragh mountains to the South East, Slievenamon to the East, the Devil's Bit to the North East and the tips of the Silvermines due north.
  • This was most certainly the highlight of our trip. Cecil was so generous with his time and gave us an amazing tour and history lesson that was so interesting! Cecil’s personal connect and passion shows through in all the little details and made us fall completely in love with the castle. It’s a perfect combination of authentic historical objects and modern amenities. Cecil made us a lovely fire before he left us for the night along with breakfast ingredients for the morning. I think I said “wow” at least 100 times. Do not hesitate to book this castle!

    Laura2019-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • We had an absolute wonderful experience at Cecil’s castle. It will be a memory we all cherish. The details and accessories the owner has in the place we’re superb. This place is a “must” to experience!

    Eddie2019-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • This is a remarkable place, and Cecil is a remarkable host. He has put a lot of work and love into restoring an authentic castle from the 1400s, and it shows. The place was clean, comfortable, and unique. In the lower level there was a lovely kitchen with bacon, eggs, bread, butter, coffee and tea waiting for us, which was much appreciated. There was also a cozy dining room with some neat ancient swords and weapons. The next two stories had a huge bedroom each. Then there was a living room area in the next story, and a couple more bedrooms as you kept going up. Sadly this is not a great place for movement-impaired folks, as it is an authentic medieval castle so the only way up and down is a narrow spiral staircase. We left all the heavy luggage in the bottom. We were there in the autumn. The castle was surprisingly warm: some of the rooms had heated tiles (a nice touch), there was a cozy fireplace, and all rooms had heaters and heated blankets. Cecil was a wonderful host, and we had a lovely chat by the fire that night where we learned lots about Ireland. I cannot recommend this place enough!

  • We have stayed at a lot of places around the world (including some pretty amazing hotels) but this place is something truly special. Cecil very kindly greets you on arrival and takes you through the history of the castle and the surrounding area. Fascinating stuff! Once inside, the place is all yours and you can light up a fire in the great room, pour yourself a glass of wine and think about all of folks that have done the same over the last 500 + years. We loved this experience so much!

    Jennifer2019-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • Cecil's castle was phenomenal! I had high expectations...however, Grantstown Castle exceeded all of these expectations. It was beautifully done. The space was well furnished and so CLEAN! I especially enjoyed the time spent with Cecil and Teresita chatting about the castle and the grounds. They were so very kind to me and my family. I hope to visit again on our next trip to Ireland!

  • Cecil was incredible! He explained so much about Irish history in such a concise way! He truly loves history and the castle. It was truly a once in a lifetime experience!

    Taryn2019-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Cecil’s castle was AMAZING! The pictures look great, but to see it in person is a completely different experience. This once-in-a-lifetime castle stay should be the top attraction in Ireland, it was definitely the highlight of our trip! Cecil gladly shared with us his knowledge of Irish heritage and the history of the castle, as well as letting us look over his private collection of antiques and paintings. Overall, it was one of the best experiences of all of my groups lives to be able to watch the sun set from the battlements and then to spend the night in such a unique, wonderful place.

    Layne2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at this castle with the historical artifacts and period art/furniture was extraordinary! Cecil was a gracious host, taking time to explain the history of the castle and the artifacts located within. Our family found tranquility and history while staying here. It is also great to know that money paid to stay helps with the upkeep and restoration of this castle, as many in the area have fallen to ruins! Thank you, Cecil, for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!

The word 'cashel' is an Anglicised version of the Irish word caiseal, meaning 'fortress' (related to the English 'castle', from the Latin castellum). Cashel is one of the proud tidy town winners in 2017. The town of Cashel owes its existence to a giant limestone outcrop of massive historical and social importance. Known as the Rock of Cashel, it was the seat of the Kings of Munster from the 5th century until it was given to the church in 1101. It's a five-minute stroll from the town the Rock.
Located in the heart of the golden vale. We are centrally located 1.2 km from M8, only 2 km from Rockwell College, founded in 1864 Its list of former pupils and teachers includes two Presidents of Ireland Éamon de Valera, Taoiseach and President of Ireland and Dr Patrick Hillery, President of Ireland 1976-1990. Not far from Coolmore Stud, Glen of Aherlow, Cahir Castle, Mitchelstown Caves, numerous parkland golf courses all within less than 20 mins drive. There are lovely walks close by such as the lake of Rockwell College, the famous river suir where you can park in Cahir and stroll down the river, around the walled town of Cashel. Spacious and safe off road parking, during the summer you can sit in the porch and relax in the garden soaking up the sunshine. You can watch the cattle in the field rise in the morning and retire at night from your bedroom window.
Our home is halfway between Rockwell College and exit 9 off the M8. We are 2mls (3km) from the centre of Cashel and 2mls from the historic Rockwell College in the heart of the golden vale. 15km from out home you can visit the historic Swiss Cottage located 2km south of Cahir Town on the road to Ardfinnan (Cahir is a Heritage Town). Close to Cahir you have easy access to Ballyporeen the ancestral home of former US President Ronald Regan. You can also visit the historic holy cross abbey in holy cross village on the river suir between Cashel and Thurles town.
  • Great place around 3.5 km from Cashel town. Charlie's directions to get to the house were perfect. Great facilities and guests even have a private living space in addition to the bedroom. Definitely recommended as a base to see the rock of cashel and surrounding sights.

  • Charlie is a very warm person and so is his wife, who has been done wrong by one of the previous reviewers who told some untrue comments. That is the bad thing about these reviews, hosts cannot defend themselves against false accusations or outright lies. We found nothing but a warm welcome and wonderfully caring husband and wife. We enjoyed the conversation with his wife in the morning. Really the sweetest people that go to great length to help!! The amenities of the BnB were very elaborate: huge towels, private bathroom, private livingroom to ourselves with fridge, waterkettle, breakfast, coffee, tea. We were very happy to stay with them and we would have dearly wanted to stay longer. We enjoyed the livingroom tremendously!! I've sent a picture of the lovely antique earthenware kettle that stood on the woodfire stove to friends and they all wanted me to bring them a similar kettle. It is indeed gorgeous. And the very big leather armchairs, very comfortable. This is how a BnB should look like. It is the genuine article. Perfect place! We had a nice experience at the Rock of Cashel and later on driving down the R639 (?), through beautiful mountains. We enjoyed talking to both Charlie and his wife. All in all, Ireland is the best and Charlie and his very kind wife run an absolutely nice place. I wish them a lot of guests in future!! Thanks for everything!

Just a short walk to both Cashel town and the historic Rock of Cashel, this cosy vintage home is the perfect place from which to explore the area. You are welcome to use the quirky kitchen or explore the myriad local restaurants and pubs. Cashel is also a great central point from which to access the surrounding areas and is on the well serviced Dublin-cork bus route.
This modern detached house is warm, spacious and fully equipped while still having lots of character. It’s located in a quiet estate, yet only five minutes walk to the nearest pub and restaurant. This room is a very big double with great views of the Rock and the local abbey. We call it the flower room, you can see why from the pictures! There is also a twin room available in the same house
You can see the historic Rock of Cashel from the upstairs window as well as a twelfth century abbey. There are lots of lovely places to walk and many others only a short drive away. For a small town, Cashel has a great range of places to eat, shop or go for a night out. Within only a ten minute walk there are two large supermarkets, three pubs, a really good Thai restaurant, an ice cream parlour and a pizza place! The town itself is also very picturesque, perfect for a stroll around.
  • Claire's husband, Sean, met us when we arrived late after getting lost on our way from Killarney. He carried our heavy bags up the stairs and offered us something hot to drink on that cold rainy night. He explained everything well. The view from the room is lovely- you see the Rock of Cashel. Everything is nicely set up in the room and clean. Lovely stay!

My place is a five minute drive to Kilshane House Hotel for wedding guests. Beautiful walks nearby my Cottage here. I'm less than a one hour drive from Cork, Kilkenny, Dungarvan and Waterford and 40 minutes from Limerick so central. The beautiful Glen of Aherlow is nearby with great walks, cycle trails and horse riding. You’ll love my place because of the stove, the comfy bed, the kitchen, the cosiness, the high ceilings and the views. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers and families
I'm also 5 minutes from Cahir, the historical town with Cahir Castle and the Swiss Cottage in the beautiful Cahir Park with mature trees and the river Suir. The Mitchelstown caves are a 15 minute drive away. The town of Cashel is also a 15 minute drive where u have the fabulous Rock of Cashel which is a must see!! For the golfer you are spoilt for choice of golf courses nearby. The Glen of Aherlow scenic drive is just down the road from me, drive along country roads with fabulous views of the Galtee mountains ( which are fantastic for hikers) and continue on to Aherlow House Hotel where u get the most amazing views of the Galtees and on the way home stop off at the Coach Road Bar for a drink and meet the friendly locals. As you can see, plenty to do when you stay at my cottage.

  • Patrick's cottage is an absolute gem. Patrick went the extra mile to ensure our stay was a great one. From great local recommendations of places to eat, to ensuring the wood fire was lit before we arrived. A lot of thoughtful touches in the cottage, including hot water bottles and toiletries. Highly recommend if you're passing through!

  • What an amazing property. Christine has gone to huge effort to make this property a wonderful place to stay. The house is wonderfully spacious with plenty of space for our family of five to spread out. The house is spotlessly clean and decorated in a wonderful homely farmhouse style. The living and dining space are spacious and the large playroom with a huge selection of toys, books and games kept our three children entertained. The bedrooms were lovely - very clean and nicely decorated as were the bathrooms. There is a huge amount of outdoor space with the lovely farmyard surrounded by quaint barns , which is gated , meaning even our two year old could play out there without me needing to worry. There is also a large trampoline and a treehouse with lots of green areas for exploring also!! Christine provided clear and detailed instructions on how to use the various amenities in the house and met us personally on arrival to show ya anything we were unsure of. All in all, Christine’s property was an absolute pleasure to stay in, and we all can’t wait to visit again!!

  • There is no better place we stayed in during our trip through Ireland. The house is huge and the all the rooms are very nice and roomy. The kitchen is really big and there's enough room to cook a nice meal, we did. Had a nice dinner in the dining room where there's plenty of room round the table. We didn't even really get to the two living rooms but they're decked out too. The beds were very comfy, the hosts were super helpful and nice. There's a the most thorough guide to the surrounding we've ever seen in any place if your looking for ideas of what to do. All in all, great value for money and we'll worth the drive!

    Annette2020-01-09T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely farmhouse with lots of character, plenty of space for kids (including a well kitted play room, at least for 7yrs and under), all in a great setting looking to the Galtees. Great outdoor space with fine treehouse and trampoline. Our 3 girls loved every minute, as did the parents! All sparkling clean, perfect hospitality and great communication. Can't wait to visit again

    Niall2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Christine was very nice and personable. The property is very large and comfortable and meets or exceeds the description. Christine met us to check us in and introduce us to the amenities. The place is kind of remote, but not more than its description in Airbnb. We were there a few days after Christmas and this made the remoteness a little more problematic since the restaurants in the closest village closed early. However, we found a nice Italian restaurant in the neighboring village. I would recommend this property to anyone.

  • Steven’s place was great. We spent 7 nights in Ireland each in a different place and the beds here were the most comfortable. It was a cute little place with the hosts close by. We had a little trouble with our gps and had to contact Steven several times before we made our way there and back after dinner. Each time he was readily available and quite patient with us. The home was secluded and quiet yet just a few minutes into town. I will recommend his place to anyone I know travelIng to Ireland.

  • We had spent a fabulous night here. Margaret greeted us warmly and showed us to our room and offered us something warm to drink. Brendan started a fire, and we enjoyed our tea in front of the fire. It was so welcoming after a rainy day spent exploring the Rock of Cashel. Their home is very clean, and the beds were warm and comfortable. The breakfast Margaret made us in the morning was absolutely delicious. We highly recommend staying here.

It is a quiet, peaceful area and there is lots to see from the mountains to the stunningly green fields to the river and trails and winding roads and gorgeous scenery. The home is newly remodeled, it’s so cozy and warm, filled with light and just beautifully beautifully decorated. Lorraine and her family are such wonderful hosts. They took such wonderful care of us going above and beyond to make sure we had everything we wanted and/or needed. They did everything possible to make our stay so special. They thought of everything!! Thank you Lorraine and family for a fantastic stay. Highly highly recommend a stay at Lorraine’s home.

We were very happy to get to know him and found it a pity that we had to drive on again. His recommendations to places of interest were extremely good and were worth it. Also the house with the guest rooms as well as the lounge were very stylishly furnished and very clean. The bed was really comfortable and also the breakfast was delicious. • Anne's place is clean. The beds are comfortable and you are close to Cashel town (a 5 min drive or taxi). Breakfast is cereals, fruit, tea and toast and a hard-boiled egg (I don't like them and since it's self-service I'd rather just an uncooked egg to cook myself) in a lovely kitchen. Anne is very friendly and doesn't impose on you at all.

    Jen2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying here in Cashel. We felt the location was perfect as a stark contrast from Dublin. The Rock of Cashel is literally right there and the buses were so easy to get to and from Cahir and Cork, just a minute walk from the B&B. We loved walking around the town and even strolling around the Rock after dark. This to me is what I thought Ireland would be and it does not disappoint. Beatrice was so helpful, with great recommendations and you can tell she enjoys being a local host!!

    Kaylee2019-09-07T00:00:00Z

  • My mother and I stayed for 4 nights at Grooms cottage and we loved it. Marianne and Edward were great hosts, made us feel welcome without ever being intrusive. Plenty of advice on where to go etc. The cottage is lovely, lots of character, lots to read which I liked too!! And a lovely gentle dog added to the welcome. The location is great, midway between Cashel and Tipperary. I would highly recommend Grooms cottage to anyone in search of a place to stay in the area. Mairead

  • This is the second time that we stayed at Marianne's place and once again everything was perfect. It is a very relaxing place and perfectly suited to the activities we had to carry out in the area The personal hospitality is second to none. All features of the cottage were immaculate

  • Marianne and Edward are great hosts. Groom's cottage is centrally located to many hidden gems which are well worth visiting. The cottage is situated on Marianne and Edward's property with parking at the door. The grounds are beautiful and very well maintained. I loved my stay here; unfortunately it wasn't long enough! Marianne and Edward were kind enough to type up a list of places to visit, so sweet. Edward was there to welcome me when I arrived and had more suggestions for me to visit. An exquisite place to stay with wonderful, attentive hosts.

We actually spent the first hour of our time with her (and her grandchildren) having afternoon tea and cakes and watching the exciting Dublin Kerry football match which ended in a dramatic tie!

Tee Cottage is located in the courtyard of Kilfeacle House, a Georgian style manor in the heart of the lush green Tipperary countryside. The cottage is elegantly furnished, with all the comforting touches you would expect in a home away from home, as well as a few extras, including a pizza oven! If you do feel like leaving the cottage, then there's plenty to do! Historical sites, cultural attractions, sports/leisure activities, and a central location between Ireland's major cities, all await!
Tee Cottage - like our other two listings - is elegantly and luxuriously decorated to make you feel as comfortable and at ease as possible. Leather sofas; a dining table; a fireplace; two cosy bedrooms; and an outside sitting area, are amongst the features which draw people to come and visit, and even better - to come back again! We provide guests with all the amenities that we've grown used to in the modern world - from a Foreman Grill to your own washing machine - as well as books, DVDs, CDs, and an occasional visit from our dog, Indiana.
  • Marianne’s Kilfeacle cottage was comfortable and clean. It was stylishly furnished and worked very well for two couples. Marianne welcomed us warmly with afternoon tea and Edward provided lots of information about the local area which made our stay additionally enjoyable. We even stayed an extra night we were so comfortable!

    Mary Jo2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely quiet place to stay that's very centrally located. Our place had everything we needed and our host Edward was very helpful with his suggestions about where to go from there. We would stay there again.

  • One of our favorite places to stay on our 2 week trip in Ireland! Marianne and Edward converted an old hay barn on their property into apartments. Our cottage was so quaint complete with a spiral staircase up to the 2 bedrooms and bath. Everything was thoughtfully decorated and was full of amenities including lovely biscuits and muffins waiting for us on the set table. Great location in the Tipperary area and only 12 minutes from Rock of Cashel. Edward and Marianne were excellent hosts and we enjoyed meeting them. Such a wonderful, caring couple. Wish we could have stayed longer!

  • This is a fabulous place to stay. Right under the Rock of Cashel. We stayed in the Dominick Den room, it has the best bed Cashel...... maybe even in Ireland... so great to have such a comfortable bed when you are on the road. The breakfast was really good and so was Ruth's helpful advice... I would highly recommend this accommodation.

    Donna-Lee2018-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • The pictures don't do this place justice, Ruth's place is amazing!!! You're right in the middle of this little town with so much history. Hore Abbey and The Rock are just outside the door. My wife and I walked this whole town during the day and home from Feehan's Pub after dark and felt completely safe. (I highly recommend Feehan's for lunch or drinks.) Ruth is so accommodating and is just a great person in general; she cooked me my first porridge and I loved it. Ruth was there for anything we needed and I imagine she would also give you complete privacy if that is what you're looking for. Great place I would definitely recommend Ruth's to anyone and would stay again in a heartbeat!!! Thank You Ruth, Much Love!!!

  • It was a delight to enter the lodging and see how spacious and handsome it is inside. The dining table was set for afternoon tea, a very nice surprise after our journey by train and taxi (we were not doing a car rental). The rural setting is beautiful and we enjoyed the friendliness of our hosts and of their dog, Indiana. The lack of nearby restaurants and shops was overshadowed by the setting and the ready availability of taxis to make trips to nearby Cashel and Cahir. Our group of five made use of the kitchen to prepare meals after a supermarket trip, which saved money and made for a cozy experience. Highly recommended!
