Places to stay in Glyncorrwg
Peaceful, small, quiet, private cabin and patio with sink/drinking water, separate shower/toilet room across in the garden, looking out onto stunning countryside of the Brecon Beacons National Park on a safe, quiet, residential street. No cooking allowed but home-made meals can be provided on request, picnics are fine and there is a choice of great pubs with-in walking distance. Super-fast broad-band. Pets welcome. Easy parking. Great walks. Dark skies. Lots of wildlife. See photos/captions.
Our little cabin used to house a pony and we've been playing with it for a few years to make an easy, relaxing, refreshing hide-away. Where ever possible we have used up-cycled things or made them ourselves. We want it to be a real change from home. See our Photos with detailed captions for the clearest impression (might not be fully view-able on phones.) We respect our guests privacy very much and do our best to leave you in peace and solitude. We only come to the cabin if we have concerns about noise or smoke! So you can loose your self a little in a safe, secure environment. Everyone is welcome from any age or walk of life. We are always delighted to have visitors from anywhere in the world. Children always love it. There are two very comfy single beds (one pulls out from under the other), free private super-fast Wifi, electricity, all bedding, selection of hot drinks, fruit, cutlery/plates/cooler ect for your own picnics and delicious, all-home-made meals available on request. Hot cooking is not permitted. There is a small choice of games and books and leaflets from local attractions. We aim for you to have a relaxing, peaceful, refreshing experience close to the elements, in cosy, informal comfort and security. We are in a Dark Skies Area which is fantastic so we keep lighting low. It gets beautifully dark here even though we are right on a quiet residential street. There are lots of very active bird feeders and the sculpture garden aims to attract and support as much wild-life of all sorts as possible. No creatures are excluded or harmed. There are extra blankets and thick duvets for the cold weather that can arrive suddenly here. Bring warm clothes. The electric convector heater should not be left on when you sleep, if the door is open or you are out. But it will warm the space quickly. Osprey Studios has signed up to the Welsh Sustainable Business Charter and we aim to reduce waste and all fuel use where ever possible. There are recycling bins for you as well as a small garbage bin. There is a good sized fold-out table to spread out your work or meals. Outside, part of your patio is covered so you have shade and shelter, fresh herbs are growing for you to use in teas or your food, there's a table and chairs, a sink with running drinking water, lively bird feeders, visiting friendly horses and cats, a potter's momentum wheel and a stunning, enchanting view. Your area is surrounded by planting so you have some seclusion and can loose yourself in the gentle atmosphere. Our cabin is small, simple and it's NOT posh!! It's tranquil, relaxing and cosy. Sleep with the stable door open or bundle up in bed with the super-warm duvets and soft blankets on a stormy autumn night. We're not fussy about a mess and mud either, so don't worry about coming back off the mountain filthy! Our place is all about getting involved in the natural world and there is a great, varied choice of walks right from the cabin. Pets are very welcome. The shower and toilet are across the garden towards the house. There is low lighting but it does get wonderfully dark. The shower has fantastic pressure and endless hot water. There is no heating in this very small, simple room. The small sink and relief floor are custom-made here at the Studio. There is shampoo, soap and conditioner and an extra towel. Big towels and flannels are in the cabin for you. There are hooks for your clothes. For the same reasons, no smoking or cooking are permitted in the cabin. Smoking on the patio is fine. The cabin is a peaceful and quiet space to rest, paint and work.
Quiet, safe, friendly, family oriented, residential neighbourhood. There is a useful Spar shop and 3 award-winning pubs with great food within walking distance, The Penycae Inn, The Ancient Briton and The Abercrave Inn. (you would be advised to book meals with them on weekends.) Variety of lovely walks right out of the cabin.
  • Lovely little cosy spot at the foot of the mountain. Rebecca does some lovely vegetarian food and there's a good choice of pubs in the area. Very peaceful with great views from outside the cabin. Thanks :)

  • We have such a lovely, cosy stay. The cabin had lots of little touches throughout and you could tell a lot of love and thought had gone into the place. We had everything we could have needed and lots of privacy but also Rebecca was a great host if we needed anything. I think it’s a great price and we would definitely stay again. If you’re looking for somewhere quirky to enjoy being in the countryside this is perfect.

  • Quirky and cozy, amazing hospitality and picturesque view. The breakfast was lovely. Plenty to do in the surrounding area. Thoroughly enjoyed and recommend!

  • If you’re looking for a tranquil, relaxing, friendly glamping experience then this place will exceed all your expectations! The location and scenery is just beautiful and Rebecca is a very warm welcoming host who ensures you have everything you need but is far from intrusive and leaves you to relax and soak in the local beauty. We stayed in the cabin for 1 night on a very cold frosty January and the cabin kept us toasty and warm with the heater. Which was much needed after a beautiful 5 mile 4 Falls walk. It was the best night’s sleep I had, had for a long time and I did not want to get up in the morning as I was too cosy listening to the birds chirping away. We even had one of Rebecca’s friendly cats greet us at the cabin door when we opened it in the morning and we had the pleasure of it enjoying a good fuss from us :) I would definitely recommend the Ancient Briton and Penycae inn which are both in walking distance for a local pint or food. I would also recommend a relaxing stroll at the nearby Craig-Y-Nos country park (3mins drive away). All in all is was a much needed relaxing weekend at Rebecca’s cabin that really recharged my batteries and I cannot wait to book back again! :)

  • Very unique setup. Quiet, beautiful skies. Nature one step away. Horses, cats, dogs.

    Lucia2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Rebecca's place is a nature home, it blends in so we'll with the nature around. The place is well maintained and has got the required items. The bed was so cozy, wa and comfortable that the heater was not even required. The place has a wonderfully garden with beautiful sculptures made by Rebecca herself. If the weather is good you wake up to birds chirping right outside the room, you could see them up close from the window. Right behind the cabin you get a beautiful view of the mountains with wild horses lurking around. Rebecca herself is an amazing person to talk to, I learnt a thing or two from her during my stay. Leon is a talented individual himself and an amazing person to talk to. If you stay here I would highly recommend getting the home made meals as they were very delicious, infact among the best I have had in Wales. Lastly, be sure to check out the Sculpted works of Rebecca. Definitely recommend this place.

Also, baked us fresh bread and yummy coffee and walnut cake! We felt very welcome. The place is immaculate and tidy. Thank you so much!

  • Philip and Karen have been amazing hosts. They were very welcoming on arrival, telling us about the area and places we could go to, also providing us with maps and explanations on how to get to them. The views of the landscapes are idyllic. Also they have bikes in case you want to go for a ride. But the best thing is the lemon drizzle and granary bread they made for us, we will never forget the breakfasts we had on our stay. The house is lovely and with all the appliances to ensure a good stay. We are very grateful for the experience.

  • Came for the weekend for Hen Party, and we all had an amazing time. Tracey was brilliant with communicating with the Hen Party organisers, and was really accommodating. She was able to sort out catering for us, which was lovely, this was a fairly last minute arrangement and Tracey did it even with having sustained an injury. I would recommend this property for groups, especially Hen Parties, and if you don’t mind a 45 minute journey into Cardiff, it’s perfect! Lovely indoor area and a great outdoor area too, it was a shame we couldn’t use it as much as we wanted to be as of the weather. Thank you, Tracey.

    Laura2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Very good place for large groups to stay 👍🏻

    Jon2019-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely weekend in Tondu, Tracey was on hand to help with anything we needed. Lovely outdoor spaces including a pizza oven, which we learnt was harder to master than it looked!

    Callum2019-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • A perfect location for my sisters hen party. Would defnetly recommend to anyone wanting a fab place to stay with a group of friends and family. The hosts go above and beyond to make your stay extra special and think of everything required.

    Emily2019-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • Really lovely space. Tracey supplied a docking station for us to play music, let us come early to decorate and even offered us late checkout as they had no one else booked in! The surrounding gardens are beautiful for walks and exploration and the bunkhouse itself was perfect for our needs. We took up the offer of hiring a hot tub, and it was a great idea as the weather was perfect! Thanks!

    Rosie2019-05-12T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay at the bunkhouse. Tracey was very welcoming and accommodating. Pizza over was great we really enjoyed using it on one of our evenings here. Thanks!

  • This little cottage was amazing! It took me back to my childhood and my grandma's house. It is very cosy, has an amazing fireplace, it just has a very nice vibe. Jennet was very nice giving us all the directions and tips that we needed in order to have a perfect stay. The cookies that she left for us were delicious too!

    Daniela2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely cottage. Jennet is an excellent host and provided us with a wealth of information on places to go and things to see. Great location for the Brecons and further afield trips (it's well connected road wise) - obviously a car is recommended. We loved the wood burning stove and can definitely recommend buying extra logs from the farm Jennet suggests. As others have mentioned, the place is cold in winter but once you get a fire going its exceptionally cosy. We'll definitely be back again!

    Tim2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely host, treated amazingly, house was spotless and cosy. Would happily stay here again even if it was just for the cakes

    Charlie2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Couldn't recommend this place higher. Jennet's welsh cakes are outstanding and who doesn't want to spend a stormy weekend next to a fire? Lovely place.

    Jamie2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely time, the cottage was divine and we didn’t want to come home x

    Lois2020-01-17T00:00:00Z
  • lovely little cottage, a perfect base camp for trips to the brecons

    Kito2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is very comfortable and, once the wood burner is going, warm and welcoming. The Welsh cakes were a nice touch and they are even nicer when warmed in the stove above wood burner. It's a traditional cottage, mainly heated by the burner and we stayed in December - we were fine with some warm socks and jumpers. It's a good spot for exploring the Beacons, nice local walks and waterfalls and the coast too. We wished we'd been able to stay longer.

    Phil2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • A delightful little cottage in a very pleasant setting, with a lovely enclosed garden which is safe for dogs. The main heating for the cottage is a large and effective wood burning stove, which is supplemented by a couple of electric heaters, which are OK but not very powerful. Make sure you have warm clothes. Instant heating is provided for sinks and shower, which us very efficient and hot.

We are 1/2 an hour from the M4 and sitting in the most beautiful setting of Glyncorrwg, with stunning views, forestry walks, mountain biking and angling opportunities. Our super 2 bedroom bungalow, that we've nicknamed Mini B, provides a fully self contained, self catering holiday let and holds designated parking for 2 - 3 cars. There are 7 steps up to the front door and our drive is very steep.
This is a detached, self contained bungalow that is let as a whole. We can sleep up to 6 people in the bungalow. Within the two main bedrooms we have beds that can be set up as follows: 1 double and 2 singles (our default arrangement) or 2 doubles or 4 singles Please advise at the time of booking what configuration you require the beds to be in for your stay. If we are not advised otherwise, the default arrangement will be in place. We also have a double sofa bed in the lounge for your use. If you have included use of this in your booking, we will leave bedding ready for you so that you can prepare the sofa bed when you are ready to retire, thereby enjoying the comfort of the two sofa's for the evening. Of the two sofas in the lounge it is the green one that folds down into a sofa bed. If you are with us for 6 days or more we will be happy to put on fresh linen for you during your stay. Please note also that Mini B is only 7 metres away from our main home as it was built in our garden as a granny annexe originally. We do our utmost to ensure that you feel comfortable and have privacy.
It can be very quiet here, and the neighbours are very friendly.
  • Brilliant base for researching family history and bike riding.. Will definitely be back. Lovely understanding hosts.

  • Lesley is a great host. I stayed with my family and friends at Mini B and had great time. The place is excellent, serene and close to nature. Overall ambience inside the house and surroundings provided much needed break from city life.

  • Beautiful house in an amazing part of the world, filled with some of the friendliest people and dogs you'll ever meet! Can't wait to come back again

    James2020-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • Great host, Jonathan really makes an effort to make you feel at home. When you first get there, a few overzealous dogs greet you, but they are quickly turned into a great friendly part of your stay. You feel right at home, a working hobby farm, on Jonathan's family home that they've had for the last 100 years (or close to). Beautiful walks in the area, waterfalls, and the host gives you great pub recommendations - check out the Angel. If we're in the area again, will definitely stay here.

  • Lovely old house and room and some of the friendliest dogs you’ll ever meet.

    Steve2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • This is a very quirky place. Very secluded and quiet. Lovely waterfall on the way to the house. Super place if you love dogs. Funny looking geese outside, they were very unusual. No tv in bedroom but there are two tv rooms downstairs.

  • Amazing value for money in a lovely location

    Huw2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Jonathan's place is highly recommended especially if you love animals. I had a fantastic time with his dogs and cats. We also enjoyed feeding his geese and ducks. Lexi, the dog, is the sweetest and my most favorite. The dogs are house-trained and very friendly. The property is situated next to the stream and the countryside scenery is splendid. So this place is perfect if you want to escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. Jonathan, the host, is very hospitable. Sue, the caretaker, is lovely and accommodating. We will definitely stay there again in the future.

Arguably there is no better way to witness the dramatic and breath taking views of the Afan Valley than from our cosy 4 Berth Shepherds Hut. It is perfectly located to explore the whole of South and Mid Wales, from Cardiff, to The Gower, The Brecon Beacons and West Wales. Our closest beach is only a short drive away. Ideal for a quiet retreat, or keen ramblers, star gazers and families of all ages. The mountain bike trails start from the Campsite or 3 local MTB centres.
Our Shepherds Hut comes with a fixed double bed and double sofa bed, table and 4 chairs, woodburning stove with wood starter pack and solar powered hub for lighting and charging via USB. The cookhouse has Solar lighting. Outside is a firepit and picnic table. The bathrooms and dish washing facilities are a short walk away ( approx 200m). We do not provide bedding, pillows and towels, or cooking and eating equipment/utensils.
This is Mountain bike and walking country! With dedicated and off piste trails for all abilities, just a stones throw away is the beach, ideal for surfers, sand buggies and kitesurfers...and of course those just looking to relax!
  • We only stayed for one night so it was great to have the forest on the doorstep for a walk before sunset. The cabin was spacious and very warm once the log burner got going. Marc was a very friendly host and we really enjoyed our cosy stay in the beautiful surroundings.

    Ruth2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Cosy hut in a great location. Mark was a fantastic host - easy to communicate with and very accommodating.

    Andrew2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Marc was a great host, very warm and welcoming! Although the weather let us down a little it didn’t put a dampener on our stay. The Shepard’s hut was lovely and so cosy once we got the fire going. A lovely place for a night or two away in a beautiful location. We’re planning to go back in the summer because there’s loads more we want to see of this area! Thank you Marc!!

    Jack2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • A great stay at the lodges. Marc was amazingly helpful and the cabin was delightful. If you g in January I would recommend extra warm bedding!

    Harry2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Lots of attractions to see, such as Showcave park ,Welsh Whisky Distillery ,Castles ,Ancient Roman Architecture.

    Vitaliy2018-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • We loved escaping to the shepherds hut in the forest. Marc and his family were such lovely hosts, everything was thought of and we couldn’t have wanted for anything. The breakfast hamper was such a lovely addition feeding both of us for two mornings. The Cymer fish bar also delivered to the bottom of the road which was great as we arrived quite late at night. The facilities were brilliant and very clean. Every little detail in the shepherds hut was very thought out, making it feel like a relaxing home from home. We had such a lovely time here, we wish we were there for longer.

    Samuel2018-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • We have jusy got back from a wonderful weekend away staying in ths shepherds hut which was more then perfect. We honestly couldnt have asked for more, all the little touches made it just perfect, such a great location if you like walking or mountain biking, the hut is located right next to afan forest and a little waterfull runs right alongside the hut, so of an evening the sound of fire crackling and the running water from the stream makes the experience so relaxing and peaceful. Would like to thank marc and his family so much for being so wonderful. Cant wait to visit again soon.

    Jessica2018-04-01T00:00:00Z
  • The term super host doesn't quite cover Marc and his thoughtful, helpful and friendly approach to his site. Before we even turned up, he asked us what we would like to make our stay comfortable - even down to what milk we liked! We were running late, but marc was amenable and showed us round the site showing us everything we needed for the perfect trip! The cabin is absolute perfection, in the heart of the Afan forest which was great perfect location for mountain biking and walking. Open the front door, and the views across the valley are spectacular, you can hear bird song in the morning and cook breakfast on the outdoor fire pit. The indoor log burning stove was lovely and we enjoyed keeping it burning in the evenings, glass of wine in hand! Marc, thank you so much for looking after us so well this weekend - we will be back VERY soon!

Glyncorrwg Glyncorrwg village is set in the beautiful Afan Valley in south Wales far enough away from the madding crowd to enjoy some peace and quiet but close enough to get to – less than an hour from Cardiff. History Glyncorrwg was once an important coal-mining centre, typical of the South Wales Valleys. With the end of the coal mining industry during the 1970s, buildings were cleared away, factories closed and people left the area to find new employment. In 1990 the local community decided to take advantage of the local scenery and complemented it with a series of ponds along the narrow valley. Trout fishing, coarse fishing, and canoeing are now popular sports in the area, plus miles of old flat railway trackbed lines and steep mountain slopes An old coal mine at Glyncorrwg a few years ago provide opportunities for cycling, hill-walking and mountain biking.
  • This home is perfectly described and more than lives up to its description. We were looking for a couple of nights away for New Year at last minute and the prompt communication made this possible. Having a mountain bike mad teenager with a new Bike for Christmas the location was perfect for him and my husband to go off enjoying the amazing trails right on the doorstep whilst myself my younger daughter and the dog enjoyed a lovely picturesque walk around the ponds at the visitors centre. A very welcoming home with everything you’d need!!

  • Mike's place is excellent. It's much larger than other houses we have stayed at in the Afan area, with 3 large bedrooms and a large downstairs area. We only had 3 people staying, but you could easily house 5+ adults.

  • Exceptional place. Clean, brilliant location, and added extras from Della who went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and prepared for our stay. The flat is very close to the monkey sanctuary the waterfalls. The pub below has a lovely atmosphere- (only went for drinks as there weren't any vegetarian options). Highly recommend the Curry House which does deliveries via Just Eat, as well as sgwd gwladys- a small pub/restaurant that does lovely breakfasts (inc. veggie and vegan). Overall was an absolutely lovely stay! Thanks, Della x

    Anya2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Della's place. The location is brilliant, so close for good walks and close to some gorgeous waterfalls. The apartment was sparkling clean and had everything we needed. The weather wasn't great (storms) so we spent more time in the apartment than expected. We had a couple of questions and Della got back to me straight away with the answers. Would recommend!

  • Clean, stylish space. comfy bed and cosy.

    Chelsea2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Our first impression was wow! Della's place is very immaculate and we had a very comfortable stay. It only took us 15 minutes at a leisurely pace to reach the henrhyd waterfall. We stayed for valentine's day, and loved the thoughtful touches. Great little place to stay to explore the nearby walks and waterfalls. The wifi was a little slow but we did go during a storm. We would highly recommend for anyone looking to explore the waterfalls.

Designed for the perfect getaway, tucked away in a private corner of our garden, where nature is truly at its best. Enjoy a soak in your own private hot tub, chill out on the decking area with marshmallows on the fire, overlooking beautiful views of the Garw Valley or head indoors and cosy up next to the fire with a warm cup of hot chocolate or a glass of bubbly. This beautifully finished Nest in the woods is ideal if you fancy getting away from busy lives to do as little as you like.
Our Shepherds Hut is situated in a private corner at the back of our garden between a little forrest of trees, mountainous views and your own spacious decking area. We have tried to create a rustic yet warm and cosy area where you can feel at ease from the moment you arrive. Whether you visit to relax and soak in the hot tub or fancy long walks and admiring nature, we have it all. The space- our Shepard hut is beautifully designed to ensure it is easy and relaxing to settle into as soon as you arrive. Once inside, you will find a fully fitted kitchen with a butlers sink, small oven and two hobs, a kettle, toaster, fridge and all essential utensils, with complimentary tea, coffee, hot chocolate and fresh milk. Once you have cooked up a storm in the kitchen, we have created the cutest dining area that you slide out when you want to use it or push back in to get access to the bedroom area or to simply have a little more space inside the hut. The beautifully finished bathroom includes a shower and complimentary toiletries. The log burner is perfect for those cold winter nights and keeps the whole hut cosy and warm and creates the perfect glow of light inside when the sun goes down. When it's time for a little shut eye, you can climb into the snug bed and be sure to switch off for a quality nights sleep. Inside the sleeping area is also a tv with Netflix. Outside space- as soon as you walk up your private walkway into Nyth Coetir, all outdoor space is yours to enjoy. Step up on to the decking area and keep warm in front of the fire pit or create a BBQ for breakfast or evening meal or melt marshmallows for a little tasty fun! Alternatively you could sit down and relax, enjoy the views or watch the birds in trees the choice is yours. Finally why not jump in the hot tub, connect to the Bluetooth speakers and relax for hours whilst admiring the views. Neighbourhood- Summer or winter, there is plenty to do in the area. At the bottom of our lane is a walking path that takes you further into the valley or you could follow the river and head towards Bryn Garw Nature park with lots to see and a cute little tea room when you get there. The area also has some great cycling trails if you fancy taking our bikes out and heading out for the day. Getting around- We are just 10 minutes from the M4 motorway, shops and restaurants, only 10 minutes to the nearest train station (where parking is free) and head to Cardiff, Swansea or further afield. We have a local bus service in the village or we are happy to offer a taxi service if you let us know in advance. Other things to note- we ask that you read our Guest Manual for top tips on the area and the how to guides on our appliances and hot tub if we are unable to greet you on the day you arrive. We are also happy to help if you need us during your stay so do not hesitate to get in touch.
  • Such a beautiful, tranquil stay. Loved the hot tub and all the lovely birds that visit the feeders in the garden. Really quiet, not over looked, stylish, clean and has everything could want. Thoughtful little touches make it all the better.

  • We had the perfect weekend at this amazing Shepherds Hut. The hosts were incredible and gave us so many thoughtful extra touches. Fire lit, hot tub bubbling and such a beautiful hamper for our arrival. Will absolutely be recommending this place to all our friends, and sincerely hoping we will be back!

  • A perfect romantic little getaway. The hut is so lovely we just stayed in almost the whole trip! Hot tub spot on too even in the rain. Ayse was a wonderful host and greeted us on arrival, gave us a tour and showed us how to use everything. It was spotless, we had a lovely little welcome hamper and a card, and there was a fire burning when we arrived so nice and cosy too. Great communication all round, with written directions and a sweet little map drawn by their daughter. We will definitely return :)

  • We wanted a quick weekend break to relax and enjoy some peace and got exactly that. It was easy to find and only 10 minutes from the M4. We were met by Leon when we arrived who was very friendly and told us all we need to know about the place and how to work the hot tub and we were left some really nice welcoming touches to celebrate valentines day. The hut very pretty, clean, warm, cosy and comfortable even with storm Dennis in full force outside. We really enjoyed our stay.

  • What a wonderful place! Enjoyed everything there is about this perfect little retreat. Kieran and his mum were so welcoming and friendly, giving you everything you could ask for & also hints and tips for things to do and places to eat. The place itself is gorgeous, homey and an absolute delight to stay in!! Words do not do this place justice!! We would be back to stay again in a heartbeat.

    Emily2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Nothing bad to say about this place. From the bottle of prosecco left on the table to the hot tub that was waiting for us to jump in even though we were late (close to 10pm), every box was ticked . The storm made our stay even more adventurous as the strong winds felt like they would take the little pod flying. The mattress was extra soft and that's where my back felt neglected, but this is a personal preference and I don't expect to have it catered everywhere i go. Who enjoys sleeping on a cloud will definitely be happy here. The tub never went under 35°c event after we sat in it during the cold rain for more then 45 minutes. Don't let the bad wether scare you ( we went during a storm) and we were still able to explore the area as google maps will guide you to good parking sports to visit the waterfalls in the area. Kieran, thanks again for everything. We had a chance to meet someone on our way out as we was gone for most of the day. Lovely to meet her and good luck with this little slice of heaven!

A big old Victorian semi-detached house with some period features, modernised and set up for large groups of mountain bikers and walkers using the trails through the forests and hills of Afan Forest Park. It has a cosy sitting room which means it is also suitable for smaller as well as larger groups. The beaches of Porthcawl and the Gower are only 25 mins drive away. Maesteg is the nearest large town with supermarkets and a petrol station.
The space is designed for mountain bikers and their needs (washing and bike storage mostly!) but it is also family friendly so if quite a few of you want to get together in the same space for some outdoor activities Afan Valley House will suit you. All beds are bunks.
The house is in the village of Cymmer. There is one small convenience store so you will need to bring supplies with you or shop in Maesteg, a four mile drive away. There is one pub, The Refresh, at the bottom of the valley and a takeaway just around the corner. Cymmer swimming pool is very close to the house.

Our house is situated close to lovely walks, Rivers, Waterfalls, Lakes, Mountain Biking , and public transport. You’ll love my place because of the outdoor space, and being close to nature, . We are able to give advise on river access, and river levels, and different grades of water,
Guests have use of our patio and garden, tv room, also some cooking is allowed but vegetarian/ vegan only
The area where we live is very friendly, and lots of walks can be started from our house, we can arrange drop off and pick up if required at small cost
  • Lovely people - brilliant setting. Bedroom very comfortable. Very relaxed and homely atmosphere. As a vegan I still think you need to check everything. Some beers/wines are questionable. Brought my own but ended up assuming the lager (Sol) offered at the house was vegan - it wasn't. I should have checked. Lovely walk with Phil and Holly - waterfall was wonderful.

We wondered about the noise being directly above the pub but as all other reviews have specified barley heard a thing, was very peaceful and cosy. Della was exceptionally welcoming and very quick at responding. Area is beautiful, neatest waterfall is just 5 mins down the road, 5 stars would highly recommend.

  • Lovely room in a house very close to the town centre but far enough away to not hear the nightlife. Spotlessly clean, awesome shower and a lovely cup of tea. Very friendly host and great communication. I hope to stay again.

  • Sofia is a lovely host and has a very comfortable home. I would definitely recommend a stay with her.

    Carole2019-06-15T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed 1 night only but it was enough to see how Sofia takes care of people. I was offered biscuits, tea and fruits. I was shown where everything was and the house was very clean. The street is very peaceful and has some residential only and some free parking... I parked right at the front of the house. I will say it’s definitely great value for money and I will stay here again. Oh I also discovered that Sofia works where I did my placement few years back.

Glanrhyd is a well-equipped ground floor self-contained flat located in the quiet Welsh village of Crynant. We are located just 6 miles from Neath and 15 miles from Swansea and surrounded by forestry. Glanrhyd is good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travellers.
Glanrhyd is a well-equipped flat with its own front and back doors and underfloor heating throughout. As well as a spacious bedroom and bathroom there is a large kitchen dining area. The living room is at the back of the house and includes a conservatory with views out onto the countryside and forestry. Outside the conservatory is a large raised private patio leading to steps down to the lawn and garden. Parking is plentiful on the road in front of the flat. Although the flat is not ideal for more than 2 guests, there is a put-you-up single bed available plus bedding for use at a small extra charge.
  • Lovely spacious flat, great layout, very comfortable bed , slept really well . The garden is a gem and can be enjoyed from the comfort of the open plan lounge conservatory. There were some nice fields that run behind the property great for walking the dog but the property is on a main road so caution should be taken with dogs. Nice wet room style bathroom with powerful shower. Had a great stay, thank you

  • Part of a semi-detached property located on main road in a medium-sized village. Everything needed for a comfortable self-catering break is provided. garden was nice, would be exceptional at the right time of year. Bedroom adjacent to road at front, so expect some traffic noise. Geography means travel has to be a bit roundabout. Plenty of walks and beautiful countryside nearby.

  • This cottage is in a really quiet village location well set back from the road. The facilities are all excellent. We particularly liked the kitchen and the conservatory dining room. The heating control were easy for the least technical person ... one finger to adjust the temperature. The nearest grocery is a Coop which is 5 minutes drive and theres a large Tesco in Aberdare. Great place to stay.
