  • A beautiful, cosy retreat in an excellent location for exploring the Dorset coastal paths. Lyndsey and her family were always on hand to help, and provided us with old newspapers to help dry out our soggy hiking boots. Would not hesitate in booking again.

  • Excellent service. The log burner made the trip!

    Daniel2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Brilliant place to stay, with lots of little touches. Really cosy.

    Tracy2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Other reviewers have said it all! A really VERY good place and excellent value for money. From Pamela’s warm welcome to the many extra thoughtful touches and freebies (eggs and bread, milk, maps, mars bars, fruit, wine punch etc etc). Although we didn’t avail ourselves, there is even decent wine provided at cost price. The room is spacious and stylishly decorated, the shower room and kitchenette modern and well equipped. The futon bed is, well, a futon bed which therefore is pretty firm which will suit most but not all. Highly recommended.

    Paul2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • What a superb place to stay, everything you need and spotlessly clean too! The hosts couldn,t have made us feel more welcome and the little gifts of fresh eggs and rolls were second to none. Even had a little Birthday cake with candle waiting for me which was such a lovely touch! The only downside was that we wished we could have stayed longer, but we will be going back again for sure! Such a lovely place hosted by lovely people, could not ask for more *****

  • We had a lovely, cosy stay in the Green Hut despite the stormy January weather. Good value for money and very well-situated for our desired aim of hiking the Jurassic coast and seeing the best of Dorset. Louise was very helpful, friendly and efficient.

    Susan2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Despite staying in The Green Hut on the weekend of Storm Dennis(!), the hut was surprisingly warm and extremely cosy. We only managed to escape the hut for a couple of hours in the storm - just enough time to briefly explore Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove - but felt so at home from the moment we arrived!

    Shauna2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • The Green Hut is gorgeous! Much bigger than the pictures show and a great venue for a cosy getaway. The weather was not great for us unfortunately so we spent a lot of time in the hut and we loved it. 100% recommend to all!

    Paige2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Lou was WONDERFUL! The entire experience was one of a lifetime! Forever grateful for Lou and The Green Hut!

  • Beautiful space, cosy and warm inside even though it was frosty outside! Breakfast was excellent and very welcome on a cold morning. Everything we needed was thoughtfully provided. Winfrith Newburgh is a lovely, quiet village and so close to the coastal path- we spent both days walking by the beaches. Wonderful couple of days.

  • We had a wonderful stay on the Magic Bus. The attention to detail was amazing and the owners had thought of everything, so it had all we needed and more. Despite the wet and windy weather outside, the bus was incredibly warm and cozy; the wood burning stove kept us toasty and dry and the beds were really comfortable. We are already planning our next visit and would highly recommend it. Thank you Dizzi and family x

  • We loved our stay on the magic bus. Location is brilliant for exploring the local beaches - ringstead and lulworth cove are just a short drive and are lovely. The shower in the shed is amazing, better than ours at home! The kids absolutely loved the garden and we all appreciated the clear night skies - no light pollution so lots of star gazing can be had.

Simple self-contained annexe attached to Grade II listed country house built 1840. Requisitioned by Canadians in World War II for D-Day landings. A peaceful retreat in the village of Osmington, Dorset. Very near the Southwest coastal footpath and the famous Jurassic coastline. Large garden available to enjoy. Minimum stay 2 nights. Not suitable for children under 5.
The whole space is self contained and has its own entrance. This is through the white gate at the top in photograph 6 showing side view of Artist's Retreat. Car parking available for 2/4 cars in front of the owner's house. The road leading up and out of the Annexe is a hard track - see photos. The main bedroom has a double bed looking out over garden. To enter the main bedroom you have to go through the space which has the 2 single beds. Bathroom is in a separate private space next to both bedrooms, and has a shower, loo and washbasin. Please note this property is NOT suitable for toddlers. (ie between the ages of one and five).
Quiet village location where the painter Sir John Constable honeymooned and painted. Close to many beautiful locations to interest the Thomas Hardy enthusiast including the cottage where he was born. It is located deep in the woods which are covered with bluebells around Easter. Many of the places mentioned below such as Maiden Castle and Weymouth Bay were used in the Julie Christie version of Far from the Madding Crowd by Thomas Hardy. Stunning walks along Jurassic coast are easily accessible. You can head off on foot from Artist's Retreat and spend the day walking to and from Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove ( see photos). Swimming is also possible from various locations along the route. Osmington Mills is the nearest access to sea - 15 min walk from house or 3 mins by car. It also offers the Smugglers Inn where lunches and suppers are served. For others restaurants research Weymouth and Portland. The Oasis Cafe, 10mins drive away towards Weymouth and right on the beach does breakfast, brunch, lunch and suppers (weekends only). Wind and kite surfers use this beach to launch from. There is a good fish and chip shop (takeaway) called Stacey's, 5 mins drive away just down the main road at the bottom of the hill with the white horse etched out on the hillside. The Crab Shack Cafe close to Portland offers a more expensive fresh seafood meal (advisable to book). Weymouth Harbour which is very pretty and often hosts interesting old sailing boats offers other restaurants varying in price, including a Prezzos and fish and chips. It was also used in the 2017 film version of Dunkirk. Dorchester (20 mins drive) is another popular place to eat and has a Carluccios, Pizza Express, Cote and Wagamamas in the Old Brewery. For a 'vintage' and very friendly experience try Re-Loved on the main shopping street. Further afield is Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall's River cafe near Axminster (advisable to book) but make a day out and visit Lyme Regis or Mapperton House (where the Cary Mulligan/Far from the Madding crowd was filmed) on the way. Beaminster near Bridport has the lovely Brassica restaurant which has excellent food at good prices (advisable to book). The South West Coast Path can be started from Osmington Mills if wished or Ringstead. One swiftly mounts to the higher and more dramatic cliffs at Whitenothe and then on to Bat's Head, Durdle Door and Lulworth. As a cliff walk it is without equal, an absolute roller coaster that gets even better to the east of Lulworth Cove which is owned by the MOD. (Before heading east of Lulworth make sure that the Lulworth Gunnery Range is open to the public. It is safe to walk when the red flags are not flying - ie. most weekends). The horseshoe hollow of Worbarrow Bay is every bit as lovely as Lulworth, after which the Purbeck coast throws up one surprise after another. First, the gaunt crags of Gad Cliff; then Kimmeridge and its marine reserve, followed by the Norman chapel on St Aldhelm’s Head and the tide-washed terraces of Dancing Ledge. And finally, beyond Swanage, the procession of sculpted cliffs and towering chalk stacks known as Old Harry Rocks, marking the end of the Jurassic Coast. Ringstead Bay is 10 mins drive or 30 mins walk away with a little basic cafe and shop. (charges for parking). This also has a launch/beach for small sailing craft, kayaks, windsurfers and kite surfers. You can swim from Ringstead and the sea sometimes offers waves for surfers. For more surfing look to Kimmeridge. Most of the coast nearby offers beautiful swimming in its clean waters and the host can recommend advice on safety and areas which are more isolated. Weymouth Sands beach offers the Blue Flag clean and very safe lifeguarded bay where King George III bathed and along the front is Lawrence of Arabia's favourite bar. He would drive from his house, Clouds Hill at Moreton (NT property), and park his 998cc Brough Superior "Rolls Royce of motorcycles" outside the Royal Hotel. Weymouth has a very pretty Georgian frontage where one can walk along the promenade and appreciate a classic 'Punch and Judy' experience on a small scale. There are less crowded areas such as the Greenhill area near the Sealife Centre where children and adults can swim and play in the sand (just a little distance up from Weymouth Sands). It also has lifeguards and in the summer two swimming rafts. For teenage boys/girls there is a skatepark near the Sea Life Centre( charges). In Dorchester the skatepark if free. Sailing (including boat hire and lessons) is available at the Weymouth and Portland Sailing Academy which staged the 2012 Sailing Olympics. It is located along the road to Portland. Portland harbour is a favourite for windsurfers. Portland is an interesting area. Its charm is not instantly appreciated but in May and June the walk along the cliffs is lovely with its wild flowers, peregrine falcons and coastal views. In high winds at Portland Bill Lighthouse (open to the public) as the sea crashes against its famous stone cliffs one has an opportunity to behold the power of the sea and be given a guaranteed thrill. You can swim at Church Ope cove and a genuine pirates gravestone with its carved hourglass can be found on the walk down. The water in the cove has a unique cloudy turquoise blue colour due to the white stoned sea floor. The Chesil Beach which joins the mainland at Weymouth to the Isle of Portand is one of the geological wonders of the world. The enormous bank of pebble beach is worth the climb and again is exhilarating in high winds. It is majestic in its size and sweep and quite something to experience. Drive to the Portland Heights Hotel to see it from above and melt into the distance towards West bay and Lyme Regis. The Fleet which is a desolate lagoon runs along the coast behind the Chesil beach has another unique atmosphere. It leads to places such as Abbotsbury with its 14th century Chapel and Tithe Barn (largest in England), Swannery and Sub-Tropical gardens which are all places worth seeing, especially at Easter when the camellias and rhododendrons are out. Seeing the baby swans and eggs in the Spring is very exciting and fun for all ages. For fossil hunters and lovers of The French Lieutenant's Woman Lyme Regis makes for a lovely day out with its famous stone cobb and walk along its romantic undercliff. Chideock and Charmouth are the places to find fossils. Maiden Castle is an Iron Age Hill fort just outside Dorchester. See it for its size as it is the largest in Europe. Children of all ages enjoy climbing its enormous dips and hollows. Many people find Bovington Tank Museum interesting, exciting and useful on a wet day. It is not far away and just above Lulworth Cove. Finally, Craigs Dairy is a walk up the drive and across the main road from the Artist's Retreat where one can buy a takeaway cup of fresh coffee, fresh meat, milk, eggs and other food necessities. It also offers a tearoom, Farm Shop and their own dairy made ice-cream. For other shops there is a small Co-op and Spa in Preston down towards Weymouth (5 mins). An Asda near the harbour, a big Co-op near Littlemoor, a Morrisons in Weymouth on the Dorchester road and a Waitrose in Dorchester.
  • Fantastic retreat within walking distance of the sea! Beautiful area with endless walks and other things to do. We really enjoyed our stay and took Charlotte's advice to visit Smuggler's Inn, which offered great food and an impromptu pub quiz! Recommended!

    Vickie2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • A great location and perfect retreat. Facilities are excellent and we did plenty of our own cooking - the kitchen is really well stocked with everything you need and the fireplace makes it all very cosy. Charlotte was very responsive, welcomed us warmly and was really accommodating to our specific requests. Thanks for a great stay.

    Patrick2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • By far Charlotte’s place was one of the most beautiful spaces I have ever stayed in. A perfect haven away from the city rush, it has everything one needs with the addition of a lovely little wood burner to complete the cosiness. Recommend coming here by car because of the location as it’s happily tucked away but naturally this is a good idea as it makes visiting the local highlights more convenient when you do. Charlotte was very prompt with her communication and offers very good recommendations upon your arrival. Hope very much to return one day.

  • Great place, great location near the jurrasic coast. Great host

  • Lovely, simple space which is spotlessly clean. A great base to explore the fantastic coastline of Dorset. Charlotte was very welcoming, and the woodburning stove very welcome. Would recommend.

  • Charlotte's house was very nice and clean. It had a very cute mini fireplace which was super good for the cold November nights we stayed there, as the living room got warm very quickly. Charlotte was a very friendly host. She responded to our questions very quickly. We recommend her place.

    Melis2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely little place to stay. Well located. Cosy, clean and comfortable. The wood burning stove kept us warm in the living area, but the bedrooms are centrally heated and definitely warm enough even though it was pretty chilly outside. The kitchen is simple but we had everything we needed to cook. Charlotte was really helpful and friendly, particularly when we got a bit lost trying to find the place! Thanks for a lovely stay.

Fantastic location on the Jurassic Coast with stunning rural and sea views! Well equipped, comfortable, light and airy, 3 bed self contained cottage with a log burner for cosy winter nights. Large patio + enclosed garden. Close to wonderful scenic walks on South Coast path, 300 yds to clifftop (rugged access to beach) + pub. Well behaved dogs welcome! We endeavour to offer a 'home from home' experience and the cottage is perfect for relaxing, walking and exploring...but not for parties!
Our cottage is a fabulous light and airy three storey Edwardian home with stunning views of both open countryside and the sea... It has three bedrooms, and can accommodate five people. It has a well-equipped, modern kitchen, two bathrooms and a sink/loo off the master bedroom at the top of the house. Wi-fi is fibre and quite fast. There is a large deck-area outside, with patio furniture and large sun brolly. A couple of steps down to the garden leads to an area where you can barbecue. We welcome up to two well-behaved dogs and the garden is - as far as possible - dog-proof! A gate at the foot of the garden leads onto the road. There is off-road parking for one medium sized car in the courtyard outside the front door. Please read section ‘Other things to note’ for further information. Please note: Sometimes errors may occur in pricing. If you think this to be the case and wish to book, please contact us.
The village is along a quiet country road leading only to the inn and coast, yet within short driving distances are the seaside resorts of Weymouth and Swanage, the county town of Dorchester and the historic market town of Wareham. The village pub, The Smugglers Inn, is just 300 yards walk from the cottage and is renowned for its good food and ambience. There has been an inn on the site since the 13th century. Osmington Mills and the surrounding area was painted by the landscape artist John Constable in the early 19th century and he spent his honeymoon here in 1816. Situated on the South Coast Path between Durdle Door and Weymouth, the area offers opportunities for a wide range of interests: For the natural historian, an enormous variety of wildlife exists within a diverse range of habitats dictated by the geology and geography of the World Heritage Centre-classified Jurassic Coast. For those who like their activity wet, coasteering on the rocky coastline, kayaking, sub-aqua, fishing, or just plain swimming are available (as well as sand-castle building on the beach.) Evidence of ancient (and more recent) settlements and activity are all around, and offers an interesting aspect to any excursion, especially accompanied by an OS map. Nearby, the Isle of Portland is a rich source of interest. Horse-riding and golf are both available close by.
  • We had such a lovely stay in this beautiful cottage, which is ideally located to all the attractions of the Jurassic Coast. Everything was immaculate and the sunny rooms and stunning views made us feel so relaxed and like we were a million miles away! Julie and Andy had left us some cake and even some treats for our dog, which was a very sweet touch. They were also brilliant at providing us with plenty of local info in advance and there were some good local travel books and information packs in the property too. We loved everything about our break and can’t recommend enough!

  • Superb place, lovely cottage, beautiful garden, all sparkling clean and with thoughtful touches (a bottle of sparkling in the fridge, flowers throughout the house, a welcome card etc), great communication, friendly neighbours, amazing location... a paradise if you want some time out in one of Englands most beautiful countryside. Thank you Andy and Julie, you were fantastic hosts. We'd love to come again soon.

  • When I first arrived at the house, I was a little bit worried but never judge a book by its cover! The house is modern, the bedrooms are spacious and the little extras made me smile! The house is very spacious, clean and I would recommend this to everyone! The weather let us down a bit and the parking was a little bit of a squeeze but it didn’t spoil the holiday!! The little extras are always thoughtful and the Prosecco went down really well! Had an enjoyable, relaxing break and would definitely go back again in the future! Thank you for everything and coming to help us with the heating too! The hosts are kind and very pleasant and it was like being home from home!

  • What a lovely place to stay and explore the Dorset coast. The house is well equipped with lots of nice touches to make your stay feel special. The bedroom on the top floor has great views, a really comfortable bed and nice bedding that you don’t want to get out of! The kitchen has everything you need if you want to eat in and the living room is small but cosy with a lovely log burner. Our visit coincided with Storm Dennis and the cottage was the perfect place to cosy up.

  • Our second visit to this lovely cosy cottage. Good to be back bringing our family this time. Loved the extras, delicious chocolate cake, prosecco and chocolates. Even Otis our dog was catered for with dog treats. Comfy beds and linen. I love the top bedroom with fabulous views over countryside and sea. Thank you Andrew and Julie.

  • Beautiful cottage in lovely location. Thoughtful welcome gifts, good communication and very well equipped.

    Carol2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Countryside on one side, the sea on the other, right in the middle you’ll find yourself in Andrews lovely cottage with the most incredible views from the top master bedroom. The thoughtful touches on arrival, local info and log fire were just perfect. If you’re planning a break of any length to absorb in tranquility, just book without hesitation.

Although recently built, this building actually seems older than the farmhouse it's next to. With oak beamed roof trusses and stone walls inside and out there is a sense of permanence about this place. Shortlake Cottage is located just off a quiet no-through-road and looks out over fields to the coast beyond. As well as the views, the SW Coastpath is nearby for walks into Weymouth (3m) and Lulworth Cove (7m). Osmington village with The Sly Fox pub, and a couple of small shops, is about a 5 minutes walk away. The walk to Shortlake Farm's private beach takes just 10 minutes or so across the fields.

  • Beautiful place. Very quiet and close to the sea. Perfect place for relaxing break. Supermarket 5minutes drive and 20minutes from Durdle Door. Warm place even in cold days. Nice kitchen, rooms and lounge.

  • Shortlake Cottage was absolutely delightful, simply and stylish with lovely features and gorgeous views from the upstairs family room. We stayed here with our 3 year old and 3 month old and had everything we needed to feel happy and at home for a few days. We walked down to the beach which was about 20 minutes (maybe a bit more coming back up!) The beach was deserted except for us and really gorgeous. The cottage is ideally located for sights such as Durdle Door, Lulworth Cove, etc as well as towns Weymouth and Dorchester being easy drives away. Peter was easy to get in touch with and very helpful on the couple of occasions we needed him too, I would recommend both the cottage and Peter himself as a host. We ate in most nights in the well equipped kitchen but enjoyed a fantastic meal at the nearby Smugglers Inn on our last night which we would recommend also. ****** LOVED IT! 😊

    Alice2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • The photos don't do the space and location justice - in a great way! Plenty of room and so close to the bay. The view from the upstairs is brilliant and you can see the bay and over to Portland. We stayed as a couple with our dog, but if you are with another couple then the space and layout would be ideal, ensuring you have privacy as well as a great place to enjoy. Location is excellent for Weymouth, we also went to Swanage whilst there. Would strongly recommend Peters cottage if you are looking for a base to explore the area.

  • This place is gorgeous, the location is fantastic and it was great value for money. It made for a perfect weekend in the area.

  • All good and clean.

    Mick2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • Great location. Quiet but near to the beach, walks and pub. Plenty of space, well equipped, warm and lovely building.

    Dinah2020-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • A little piece of perfection in a beautiful part of the world. Check-in was seamless. The interior is beautiful and very spacious. Loved the bathroom! The cleanliness is exceptional! The underfloor heating is very effective and the view from upstairs is breathtaking. The location is perfect - you feel like you are in the middle of the country far away from the hustle and bustle but you still have the convenience of Weymouth close by. I can't recommend Peters place enough!

    Shaun2020-01-11T00:00:00Z

  • An ideal location for a perfect getaway with incredible views and beautiful walks. The dogs enjoyed it as much as we did! The hot tub overlooking the bay was definitely a highlight. Despite a few minor issues with the accommodation we had the most wonderful relaxing stay. The fireplace was perfect for the rainy nights and it was a very thoughtful touch to provide enough wood for our two-night stay. We would definitely return and would recommend a stay in this lovely place.

  • This Old Lookout is a very special place. We only stayed one night but Peter still put the spa on for us. And the star-gazing was amazing!

  • Absolutely stunning home with a spectacular location. Could not recommend more. Can’t wait to stay again. The hot tub is an extra great touch

This is a room of a central located Victorian Terrace town house (built 1892). Easy walking to local Town Walks, Museums, Shops, Hospital, Council Offices and Restaurants. It is a peaceful room. One bed. Room decorated yellow with green carpet. Has charm and character. Please note limited parking, car parks are free from 6pm till 8am. Off street parking is very limited in Dorchester.
Medium size room. Plenty of reading material, the room hosts a number of books! The house is furnished in a traditional manner with period furniture, prints and paintings.
Close to central of the town. Easy to locate. Minutes from local shops, restaurants, museums and pleasant walks. Close to County Museum and Arts Centre. 10 minute walk from County Hospital. Thomas Hardy's grave is a half an hour walk and the cottage is about an hour's walk.
  • Unique house warm quiet and friendly

  • This is a lovely Airbnb and I have no hesitation in recommending Andrew's hospitality to other guests.

    Fiona2019-11-15T00:00:00Z
  • I've now stayed with Andy three or four times and enjoyed it every time. It's close to the centre of Dorchester, a few minutes walking distance but at the same time calm and quiet. Andy is also very well informed about Dorchester and Dorset and it's been a pleasure talking to him and having the benefit of this knowledge.

    David2018-11-09T00:00:00Z
  • Had a lovely stay at Andrew's cosy home. Filled with great books and a very comfortable bed. Andrew was very friendly and hospitable and gave me lots of local tips.

  • Great staying with Andy in his home. Friendly guy, interesting Conversation. Very central. Loved the art work in hall and stairs, many regarding Dorset and Dorchester, and you might be lucky to be home when Andy is playing some beautiful classical piano!

Escape to Birdsong Cottage, you'll be tucked away in the friendly village of Broadmayne. It is cosy and comfortable; you can snuggle on the sofa in front of the log fire or use it as a base to explore the beautiful surrounding areas of West Dorset.
Birdsong Cottage is a home away from home. A quirky 1800's end of terrace with a secret garden to hide away in. A cosy living room with a log burning fire and exposed brick wall being the main features. Space to dine in candlelight at the compact dining table. A well equipped kitchen is at the back of the property with all amenities to prepare and enjoy food and wine! Up the wooden stairs and you'll find a beautifully light room with a king sized bed to crash on after a long day exploring the local area. Next to the bedroom there is a shower room. Out the front there is a fenced garden (currently in renovation) for relaxing in the sunshine or for your furry friend (well behaved dog).
Once you've experienced the friendly atmosphere of South view terrace you won't want to leave. Broadmayne itself has a playing field, park, post office and a well stocked village shop. The cottage is 50m from the Black Dog pub, excellent for a pint of the cold local beer and a fantastic portion of chips. You can walk out the front door, across the road and be looking down on views of Weymouth, Portland and surrounding countryside within 30 minutes. 4 miles west is the town of Dorchester, with fine dining, shopping and entertainment including museums associated with the Jurassic coast for those not so sunny days. You could get lost in a book sitting in a cafe enjoying the coffee culture, one of my favourites being Finca, a relaxed, rustic cafe with 5* independent coffee. 4 miles South and you're at my favourite spot, Ringstead Bay. This is a stony beach with a natural reef making it the perfect safe swim spot. Paddle boards and kayaks are often seen being taken for an outing from this quaint bay. A cafe for refreshments and last minute toilet stop/suncream is just near the car park. From here you can walk miles along the purbecks to Durdle door and Lulworth Cove. For a more seaside feel and the hustle and bustle of a busier town, Weymouth is a 15 minute drive. Sandy beaches, hundreds of restaurants and cafes catering for all. You can crash out all day on a deckchair in the sun or explore the towns nooks and crannies. Not far from Weymouth is the famous Chesil beach, not to mention Portland. Climbing heaven, with people travelling far and wide to try the coastal routes. More to see include The Tank Museum, Monkey World, Abbotsbury Swannery, Thomas Hardyes House, Athelhampton house and much much more.
  • We had a lovely stay at Anna’s beautiful cottage. We loved the fire which we made great use of after getting very wet on our walk from Lulworth Cove to Durdle Door! Great location, wonderful cottage. We felt really at home during our short stay. Thank you!

  • Very cosy, comfortable cottage for a couple. Anna responded immediately to any queries. Check in very easy. A huge TV and free wi-fi to enjoy in front of the log burning stove. Well situated for Dorchester and the coast. Opposite the very good Black Dog pub and 2 minutes from the excellent village shop. Highly recommended....

Named 'The Cartshed', it has been converted from an old barn. It retains a sense of history both inside and out, with its stone walls and flagstone floors. There is accommodation for six people plus a cot. NEW: The Cartshed now has a HOT TUB in the garden all inclusive within the rental fee.
It is ideally suited for walks to the white horse, and along the coast path towards Lulworth (E) and Weymouth (W). Clients have the added benefit of private parking at Eweleaze Farm for access to the secluded beach.
  • Lovely barn conversion with lots of character, great location - close to Durdle door and other walks - nice and warm with great central heating and a fireplace. Loved the hot tub which was up and running when we arrived!

Self contained, self catering studio annex based in the county town of Dorchester. The towns amenities are all within short walking distance, including the new 'Brewery Square' development. Great base to explore Dorset's fabulous coast, countryside and walk in the footsteps of Thomas Hardy's Casterbridge. Motorbike friendly, high chair & travel cot available. Complimentary tea and coffee. Netflix TV.
The annex is situated in our garden but is separate from the house with it's own front door, so you will have privacy and the ability to come and go as you please. The annex is a prefect place for 2 adults to relax but there is also space to put up a travel cot (which we can supply). We can also supply a highchair. Patio doors lead to a private decking area with table and chairs. There are also steps leading down to our established south facing garden which guests are welcome to use. Guests are welcome to view and go inside our World War 2 concrete air raid bunker which can be found in the back garden. The annex is equipped with everything you should need for a relaxing stay. The annex is equipped with a fully functional kitchen with an integrated fridge freezer, combination microwave oven and 2 ring electric hob. There is also a separate shower room. If you need use of a washing machine/tumble drier, we would be happy for you to use ours. The annex has central heating which is linked to our house, but there is also an electric fire. We have a friendly cat named Polly who you may see around the garden!
Quiet location, found in central Dorchester in a tree lined Avenue. Close enough to central Dorchester but also close enough to beautiful walks and cycle routes.
  • I stayed here for a weekend with my wife and 9 month old baby and it was perfect for us. Darren & Wing had thought of everything and were so friendly and welcoming. We could tell they really care and appreciate the people who stay. Check in and check out was a breeze, they were there for both but had already advised us of what to do if they weren't. The place was lovely, absolutely immaculate and looked to have been decorated recently. Highchair and travel cot were available on request which was a nice touch! Everything we could have needed was available in the kitchen, with instructions available for the appliances if required. If you don't want to cook then you don't have to worry, as they had put together a guide of places to dine locally, whether it's eat out or takeaway. The location is ideal, about a 10 minute walk from Brewery Square where there's loads of places to eat and about 1 mile from Tesco. All in all had everything we needed so will definitely stay here again next time we are in the area.

    Des2020-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • The annex is very well appointed, quiet and private and we appreciated being able to park on the drive. The accommodation is spotlessly clean. We were sorry not to meet our hosts but access to the annex was very easy and we had everything we could possibly need for a weekend away. We appreciated the treat they had provided for my partner’s birthday. Dorchester town center is only a 15 minute walk away with many different restaurants to choose from. We particularly enjoyed The Blue Raddle pub and Sienna for some fine dining. We enjoyed some good walking in the surrounding Dorset countryside. The walk to Thomas Hardy’s birth place was well worth the effort.

  • Really comfortable accommodation in leafy quiet surroundings. Huge bathroom with spa bath. Everything we needed was provided. Would love to stay again. Hosts were very accommidating as we arrived late in the evening.

  • Wonderful weekend break at Buzzards Beau - so relaxing, peaceful and charming that we would have loved to stay longer. Despite the high winds and heavy rain we thoroughly enjoyed the luxury of just languishing at the cottage, cooking in the fully equipped kitchen, reclining in the jacuzzi and watching the stars through the skylight in the huge bathroom. The cottage is tastefully decorated throughout with much attention to detail including a lovely welcome gift to greet us!! The photos really don't do the accommodation justice or show the many extra facilities - like a small private courtyard off the kitchen and enclosed garden that are yours to use during your stay. Thanks Nita & David - we had a great time and would highly recommend to other guests :-)

Welcome to the Trevally Room. We are Jess and Ash, and we have recently rebuilt our home 'Copperstones'. It really has been a labour of love, so we are excited to now be offering AirBNB in our spare bedrooms since spring 2019. We are located just 8 miles from Weymouth and the stunning Jurassic coastline. Dorchester itself is a friendly county town with a range of restaurants and bars, as well as fantastic transport links within walking distance of our home, to Bristol, Bath, London, etc.
The guest accommodation is all on the ground floor. The large double bedroom has a king-sized futon-style bed with extra-deep mattress, plenty of storage furniture, TV and tea-coffee making facilities. The interior decoration is classic yet modern, painted in calming Farrow and Ball colours. The main bathroom is next door to the bedroom and is for your exclusive use. Features include a large roll-top tin bath (definitely big enough for two!) and huge walk-in wet-room, along with a roll-top tin sink and toilet. Please note that there is a single step into the bathroom. There is also a cloakroom next door to your bathroom, containing an additional (shared) toilet. We supply a breakfast bag every morning of your stay, delivered to your room. This contains (for each person) a piece of fresh fruit, a bottle of fresh juice or breakfast smoothie, and a granola bar/yoghurt and granola pot/porridge pot or similar. Please note that this is not a self-catering listing. General access to our living room/kitchen/dining room is not included in your booking unless you would like to pay additional charges to dine with us - if so, please message us in advance of your stay to arrange. If you prefer something cooked in the morning, there are plenty of wonderful breakfast options in the nearby town (5-10 mins walk away). We can also recommend plenty of lovely eateries and local pubs, and your room will hold information about transport routes and things to do while you are in West Dorset. You can find all this information in advance of your stay in our ‘Copperstones Guidebook’, found within this listing. Please Note - At the time of writing this (December 2019) we are still in the process of landscaping the exterior of our property, including our front drive. This means that our outdoor spaces are not finished yet, so please be aware of this. We don't think they will impact negatively on your stay, particularly if you are coming to Dorset to get out and about and explore, or for work purposes. However, if you are wanting to simply laze about in a garden, we will not be your ideal choice. We feel it is important to be upfront with you about this. If you are unsure, please ask us. Your car can still be parked on our drive safely. If you are bringing more than one car, the roads outside our house offer free parking at all times.
Dorchester is a very up-and-coming county town, and the Brewery Square development offers some brilliant coffee shops, restaurants and bars. This is just a 5 minute walk away. From there you can also take the train to Weymouth which has a charming quay and long sandy beach, or the bus to Bridport, West Bay (home of the TV series Broadchurch) and Lyme Regis with it's windswept cob. We are in the heart of Hardy Country, with plenty of historic sights to visit, including Maumbury Rings (almost next door!), Maiden Castle, Thomas Hardy's cottage, Hardy's Monument, and the Cerne Abbas Giant. Train links can also take you to Poole, Bournemouth, Southampton, Bristol, Bath and beyond.
  • The venue was really amazing we love to spend lots of the time in the big bathroom! We fit both in the big bath tub that was really nice. Jess and Ash are very friendly and they thought about everything. Love to come back here

    Kim2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Jessies House was very comfortable and relaxing. They were very welcoming and helpful as soon as we got there and we very much enjoyed the added touches of the bath tub and the breakfast bag :).

    Faye2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Can’t recommend this place enough! Jess and Ash are brilliant hosts, friendly and welcoming and ready with helpful recommendations for meals out and sights to see in the local area. The house is absolutely stunning and the guest accommodation is to a very high standard. The bedroom is lovely, spacious and with a comfy bed. The bathroom was so amazing I could have happily lived in it! We were provided with breakfast bags each morning too, unusual for an air bnb and very gratefully received. Great location too, within easy walking distance from a variety of restaurants.

    Katie2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Jessie and Ash are the best hosts - really couldn't have asked for more, and hard to know where to begin in listing the virtues of this stay! Their home is truly beautiful, and the guest room is super clean, spacious, and really well equipped with a very comfy bed. Likewise the private bathroom and glorious bathtub!! Lots of thoughtful details included - they provided a breakfast bag of fruit, cereal bar and smoothie each morning too, and tweaked it for me, being vegan. Generous is the key word - and comes from Jessie and Ash themselves who are incredibly warm, welcoming and helpful and easy hosts. It's also a great, easy location, a few minutes walk from the train station and town, and a good base for sightseeing further afield too, even without transport. I could go on, but can't recommend highly enough - I hope to stay again, and thanks both for looking after me so well!

    Claire2019-11-23T00:00:00Z
  • Jess and Ash are absolutely the best hosts I have ever encountered with Air BnB. From the warm welcome to the small thoughtful breakfast bags, nothing was too much trouble. Then you look at the actual house and accommodation! It’s outstanding! Would definitely stay again.

    Karl2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice place to stay. Clean. Great hospitality. Stylish place. Highly recommended!

    Mohieb2019-11-08T00:00:00Z
  • Jessie and Ash are an amazing host . From the cleanliness and good fragrance that welcomes you to the extra luxurious comfort the room offers . The ambience is excellent and location very central. Their hospitality arguably the best I have experienced and they are too kind and resourceful. Jessie and Ash made Dorchester memorable and indeed I plan to re visit just to experience all these again . This was a 7 star hospitality and they comfortably thick all the boxes . Thank you Jessie and Ash for having me in your home 🤗

  • Lovely caravan. Good location

    Manuela2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • We were very pleased with Stacey’s caravan. The caravan is well equipped and beautifully furnished. Very clean place with little touches like pretty flowers on the window sill. The kitchen is well equipped: toaster, microwave, plates and cutlery, pans and salad ball. The caravan living room is spacious; we were 7 of us in the caravan 4 adults and 3 kids and was ok. The kids loved it. We would love to go back.

    Angela2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • My family and I had a wonderful trip! The caravan was clean, spacious and had most things that we needed. We felt very comfortable there. stacey’s Communication was fantastic from the moment I booked, responding to any of my queries within minutes or even seconds! Stacey was very helpful when the WiFi on the caravan park went down and communicated with the site on our behalf. It was back up and running in no time! The holiday park is lovely and staff were incredibly kind and helpful and the location of Stacey’s caravan was very convenient and close to the main activities. We even had amazing weather.. not sure if that was Stacey’s doing too! :-) Overall, a wonderful trip and we’ll definitely be booking with Stacey again.

  • Lovely little place within walking distance of everything. I loved the walk along the Frome. Everything was clean and well organised, and even though it is quite small, we managed two people, two suitcases and a clothes horse full of washing without much difficulty. Would recommend

  • We enjoyed the little house so much that we decided to visit it again. Thank you Alex

  • Just returned from a lovely Teo night break at the little house. It was beyond expectations. Small in nature, large in stature, cleanliness and comfort

    Paul2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • The Little House does what the name suggests - it's a compact but spotless and well-appointed small retreat in a quiet spot just back from Dorchester High St, close to facilities, bars and restaurants. Alex has furnished it well and is very responsive and helpful. A fine choice in west Dorset.

  • A fantastic place to stay, perfectly situated for a wonderful holiday. Brilliant, fully enclosed garden for our little dog. Highly recommend! Thank you Lyndsey!

    Tessa2019-12-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great location for visiting Dorset. Walks on the doorstep and lovely coastline a short drive away. The house is spacious and everything you can think of is provided. Beds are very comfortable and there is plenty of hot water. We enjoyed lighting the woodburner in the evenings too.

    Elizabeth2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Myself, my mum and our dog Clover had a wonderful stay at Lyndsey's place. The location is perfect - quiet and peaceful but very very easy to get to loads of great places in no time at all. We visited Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door, Corfe Castle, Studland Bay and Swanage and only stopped there as we were all tired out! The place is beautifully clean and we felt at home as soon as we arrived. The log burner was a welcome addition as it dropped to -2 one night, but we were nice and toasty in the house. The games were also great when we had a rainy morning! We'd definitely recommend Lyndsey's place to anyone wanting a break in this gorgeous part of the country.

You can even walk from the train station over to their home. Li and her family (including the cat Marie) are wonderful hosts. They make room for your food. You get a bathroom to yourself. And they themselves could not be more inspirational and lovely people.

Airy first floor double room in relaxed household. Coffee and tea making facilities available in room. Our home with lovely walled garden is nearly 300 years old and backs onto a park. Easy walking to town centre (5 mins) and to trains and buses ( 15 mins). Please note there is no parking at the house, but some free street parking and municipal carparks nearby. The sofabed is a narrow double - OK for two children or one adult. Shared bathroom and use of sauna included.
We've worked hard to make this rambling old house into a welcoming family home, with a huge farmhouse style kitchen at its heart and filled with curios from our travels. You can cosy up in front of a log burner in the winter, or enjoy a sauna during your stay, on request. We are vegetarians and keen walkers, happy to recommend local eateries, great Dorset countryside and coastal walks or beaches.
Fordington has a real village feel - old houses, church, corner shop and fish and chip shop around a village green with pretty trees- yet we can walk into town in 5 minutes! Dorchester is a lively county town within easy reach of stunning Dorset countryside and beautiful beaches.
