The palace was built between 1480 and 1520 in the period in which it stood the "Fabbrica di San Pietro" (St. Peter's Factory). Pope Sisto V reclaimed the area, which was at the time on the embankment of the Tiber, to build houses in which accomodate architects and craftsmen who worked at the Fabbrica di San Pietro.
