The house is designated historic by the Manchester Historical Society and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. The Wickham House was originally built in 1790 as a tavern and later purchased in 1837 by Rev. Dr. Joseph Wickham, legendary headmaster of Burr and Burton.
