“We could not have picked a more perfect place to celebrate our son’s graduation from UL! Patti, her sisters, and even her grandson absolutely went out of their way over and over to help make our visit memorable. So many special touches, from the homemade coffee cake & banana nut muffins, a welcome bottle of champagne...I could go on and on. It felt like a B&B the way that we were taken care of! Thanks so very much for the hospitality. We can’t wait to come back! Ragin’ Cajuns! Class of 2020!”
Room #1 is one of 3 rooms available here at the Centreville Steamboat Inn and is the only bedroom on the first floor that has a king size bed and lots of very relaxing space. Built in the late 1840s and originally named the Centreville Hotel, the Inn is located on the Historic Old Spanish Trail. Early travelers used the Steamboats to travel the gulf coast and local bayous. They would use the hotel while in the area to visit or to do business with the sugar planters, fur traders, slave traders.
“This hotel is amazing! It was built in the 1840s and yet it is as clean as a hospital. The wood is rich and dark, and Charles has done a wonderful job in placing tasteful art and artifacts around the hotel. The sitting area in the dining room is perfect for reading. I was knocked out by the sense of peace and history that the place exudes. My room on the first floor was as large as it was lovely. (I did have to share a hall bathroom--modern and spotless--with one other guest, but that was no big deal to me.) It's location in Centerville, LA was just what I was looking for. Centerville is a little crossroads community on Bayou Teche (which you can't actually see from the hotel). The location perfectly accentuates the history of hotel. The small grocery store a few doors down is a great place to get simple food and hear some wild South Louisiana accents! There is a bayou nature preserve nearby that is fascinating. The hotel is an hour and a half from New Orleans and is a great place to slip away from the chaos of that wonderful city. For much of the time I was there, I was the only one in the building. Finally, Charles respected my desire to be left alone. I really was looking for a meditative solitary experience. Thanks Charles!”
Our circa 1905 Victorian home is in the heart of the Franklin Historic District. We are 1 block from a quaint downtown area complete with charming shops. We are in a great area for walking and biking to enjoy the sites of the magnificent Victorian era homes, downtown or a casual stroll along Bayou Teche. You will also have use of a balcony that over looks the lovely neighborhood. It is perfect for a cup of coffee or a cocktail. The Chittamacha Casino and Resort is only 15 minutes away.
“We stopped in Franklin for an overnight as we traveled to New Mexico. We enjoyed the hospitality, location, and house so much that we actually decided to extend our stay there. Our hosts were brand new to airbnb but they were clearly born to do this! They were extremely thoughtful and had great local recommendations; we enjoyed all of our conversations with them but they certainly let us have our space. The house itself is gorgeous and on a safe, quiet street, and had everything we needed for our stay. If we head back east along the same route we'll be sure to schedule our trip around another weekend stay! This was one of our favorites!”
