The Lost Garden Bungalow is a traditional Thai style wooden house hidden in a tranquil garden in the small village of Khowk Wan. Enjoy the typically relaxed lifestyle of Thailand's Isaan region, learn about local culture, agriculture and history. We are near Phanom Rung Historical Park and the Ancient Khmer Temples of Wat Phanom Rung and Prasat Muang Tam. We are also not far from Buriram's world class race track "Chang International Circuit" and Buriram United Football Club's "Chang Arena."
“Where do I start? I stayed with Dave and Karn for 5 days in Lahansai. My trip didn’t go as originally planned, with instead of me spending most of my time at the local Phnom Rung Festival, I spent in and with the incredibly welcoming village that Karn and Dave reside. I had an amazing time. Dave and Karn are both very friendly, down-to-earth hosts who made me feel more welcome and at home than I can describe in words in this review. Karn is an amazing chef, and I was given the privilege to sit and watch her cook as well as well as try her awesome home-cooked meals. I told the couple I wanted to try Isaan-region specialities, and the couple went out of their way to find and cook field rat, fire ant eggs, and baby honeybee larvae for me (and it was, for the most part, delicious!) They introduced me to the few neighbors they had in the village, who are also some of the most friendly people you’ll meet. One of our neighbors saved me a frozen field rat and had some field crabs ready for me. Dave even once took me out on a ride on his motorcycle through the countryside. It’s hard to put into words how welcome I felt during my stay here - but I definitely felt like I was part of the community even as different as I clearly was. The hosts will go out of their way to make you comfortable at the Lost Garden Bungalow - I am dumbfounded with how many days I woke up to be surprised to be offered coffee or some snacks by Karn, and my laundry done and neatly folded in a bag in my house. I am sensitive to insects, which are inevitable inhabitants of that region of Thailand, and I am forever grateful for all the times Dave and Karn were patient with me and came in time after time to respond even to my small requests - to spray down my room, help me take down insect nests, to even kill a big spider in my room. The hosts are very knowledgable about their region, and as unfamiliar as the area may be, have all the local know-how to be able to help you find the cool spots and help you navigate them. The prices Dave and Karn charge are very reasonable, but I do recommend you come with personal transportation because it’s difficult to get around the region without it. The hosts graciously allowed me to use their bicycle during my stay, which I was able to use to explore the countryside and make my necessary trips to downtown Lahansai’s 7-11 to pick up toiletries or what have you. Renting a motor scooter will make your trip here so much more enjoyable. In short, please stay at the Lost Garden Bungalow. Definitely if just simply for housing - but even for those who have no plans and have never visited Isaan, it will be one of the most welcoming, hospitable, and culturally stimulating experiences you’ll have! Thank you again Dave and Karn for the great stay.”

“This place is very affordable. The host speaks English and she replies within a few seconds when available. I booked this place for my work at the MotoGP race in Chang Circuit. it is 68kms or 1 hour away. Take note that this place is far from civilization. No stores, pubs or malls nearby. But if you want a very quiet place, beside a nice farm and if you have a car / motorcycle, this place is best value for money! The water is strong. No air-con but has lots of fans. Has fridge, towels and TV. No internet at the moment (but there is LTE). Fresh air. Also bring your ownm mosquito repellent, own shampoo and soap. It’s like your own rural wooden hut! You have total privacy, you can even walk naked by the garden and no one will ever notice you. The host’s family are very hospitable and kind. They surely take care of the flowers and farm really well. Will definitely book again next year!”
