“This apartment went above all my expectations, comfortable next to a bakery that serves the best breakfast sandwiches and right next to that a spot with all you need to enjoy traditional Puerto Rican food. The place is only minutes away from the town and in a very strategic location if we want to explore the whole island. Coming back next year and I hope that this apartment is available.”

“We stayed in this very pleasant house for a week in February. The location is about a mile north of 184 on 763, not far from the famous lechoneras of Guavate on 184. If you don't know what they are (like we didn't when we rented the house), definately look it up. You're in for a treat. There are several clips on YouTube including one with Andrew Zimmer of Bizarre Foods as well as Anthony Bourdain of No Reservations. It's fairly quiet during the week when many are closed, but the weekends explode with locals and visitors sometimes clogging the road. But just relax and go with the flow. It's a great local destination. You might be advised that the house is located on a road that is fairly busy during early morning and late afternoon. We were kind of surprised for it being just a "rural" two lane in the hills. So if you're a light sleeper, you may want to use the middle or back bedroom. We did. It's quieter. Even though there are three bedrooms(two queen, one double bed), there were only two of us, giving us plenty of room to move around. The TV worked fine. There is a washer/dryer combo unit on the back porch that we didn't use, but were shown how. The kitchen is small-ish. So you really don't want more than two people in there when it's cooking time, but it's big enough to get the job done. There are plenty of utensils and cookware. The view of the valley from the back porch is especially pretty at night when you can see the village in the distance and house dotted all over the hillsides. Go across the road and you'll see the same thing. It's a very lush and beautiful area as is most of the island and the cooler mountain air is refreshing. There is an older couple who grill chickens to sell across the street early on Saturdays only. We didn't try one as we had other places to be that morning, but they sure smelled and looked good. There is also a small grocery store further north on 763 that has warm, fresh water bread every morning. Commercial, but tasty. Overall, it was a great local experience. Give it a try! ”
