Beautiful spot to see cherry blossoms! Download the US National Arboretum app for a map of all the blooming trees. Sits on the edge of the city. Check hours before going.
For such a huge place, the National Arboretum flies a bit under the radar. We recommend the Bonsai and Penjing Museum, but the entire grounds are beautiful.
This is a free arboretum that is open every day. I love going here to be surrounded by nature and the open space. A lot of locals don't even know about this place, it's truly a gem.
The national arboretum has a cool bonzai garden, worth seeing, and you can rent bikes at the front gate (which is mislabeled on this map). You can also access the arboretum from the very end of a long path at the end of my street, but shhh, that's a secret entrance... Good for your morning run.
