Come and experience the sweet life in the countryside! Our historic barn, nestled at the foot of the majestic Langeberg mountains, dates back to the late 1800s, when this landmark property was a berry farm. Ideal for nature lovers, foodies, young families and those seeking a quiet place to pause and reset.
“This ex barn has been lovingly restored and tastefully decorated. We loved the soothing colour palette and Southern French styling. Plus the tranquil surroundings. Thoughtful touches such snacks and high quality linen as well as eco friendly toiletries made us feel comfortable. The Barn was easy to find. Excellent communication from the host. We never met her but she was most helpful. It’s fully equipped including a washing machine. Off-street parking is available but we were too lazy to open the gate and parked our car on the street outside. We’re reasonably fit and for us it was a 15 minute walk to town. There’s a Super Spar supermarket open till 19:00pm which had all we needed. We loved the old fashioned bath with piping hot water which was a real treat after a day in the rain. Excellent Wi-Fi. Highly recommended.”
100 Year old house with authentic country atmosphere. Two adjacent bedrooms with one en-suite bathroom. Breakfast with fresh home baked bread and our own free range chicken's eggs, is available for extra R85 p/p. Host speaks fluent french as well.
“A freshly picked vase of garden flowers welcomed us on arrival. Filter coffee and a large plunger were among some of the other special touches. Marietjie is a generous hostess and made us feel right at home. To future guests, be sure to place an order for Marietjie’s freshly baked breads - 2 or more, what you can’t finish, you gift to somebody!”
Over the hills and far away... Our architect-designed house mixes inside/outside space creating room aplenty for family, children and guests. Explore wetland, river and the Langeberg mountains. With the best of creature comforts this spot is paradise for children and a stylish retreat for adults.
“What a lovely hideaway! We didn't know much about Suurbraak before our stay, but thought the location was excellent, feeling secluded without being completely cut off from the rest of the world. The cabin is very well designed, with everything you might need for a great getaway, including a well equipped kitchen (not to mention the pizza oven, which was a big bonus)! We had a few rainy days, but the sun room was still warm enough to enjoy during the day and the fireplace kept us cosy in the evenings. The winter bedding provided was also excellent.”
