This well appointed studio apartment has a full cooking facilities & washing machine. Peaceful but steep location in the rolling hillsides of Woodchester. Best served touring with a car. Ideal for exploring/rambling or gently unwinding in nature.
The apartment has been newly refurbished, with a high standard of fixtures and fittings. Oven, Cooking Hob, Microwave, Washing Machine, Fridge & Full set of cooking utensils. Toiletries provided and all guests receive complimentary tea, coffee, sugar, milk plus materials for a continental breakfast. The steep, single-track road is flanked by limestone walls; a reflection of a bye-gone age when sites such as Woodchester were chosen for their natural springs. The hillside location yields a panoramic vista, reflecting the richness contained within this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, that forms the southern flank of the Cotswolds. Large open driveway with free, dedicated & lit off-road parking available 24/7. Exterior, Private courtyard with table and chair set for taking in the afternoon sunshine.
Explore the Cotswolds by car, sampling afternoon tea at the Kitchen in Minchinhampton or take a picnic to Coaley Peak and stretch your eyes across the outstanding panoramic vista across the River Severn. Driving:- Drive on to the hidden Woodchester Mansion and then delight your taste buds with an authentic stone baked pizza at Thistledown Cafe perched alone in the wilderness at Nymphsfield. Drive to the historic town of Tetbury and then on to explore Westonbirt Arboretum, stunning in any season. Drive into Stroud on Saturday morning for the famous Farmers Market. Rambling:- If you are keen to ramble, then less than 2 minutes walk away you can take your pick of several lovely footpaths to ramble along. Head up the steep hill and travel west to explore the wooded hillside above and emerge on Selsley common, with its magnificent panoramic views down across the River Severn, flanked in a dramatic backdrop by the Welsh hills. Walk on down hill to Dudbridge and pick up the old railway/cycle track and circle back to South Woodchester. Stroll east down the hill and find the local hostelry, the Ram Inn or walk a little further to Rooksmoor and sample the fine menus at The Old Fleece. Trek along the footpath at the bottom of the hill to North Woodchester, emerging at the village church. Walk on through the village and turn right for the local village shop, run entirely by kindly, welcoming volunteers, or refresh yourself at the Royal Oak. Continue on just a short way from the shop and you will discover the "Old Church" with its legendary Woodchester Pavement (no longer on display) but hidden in the churchyard on the footprint of a fantastic Roman Villa, sited on a flat outcrop where several natural springs emerge. Take a longer stroll southward along the Cycle Track, a remnant of the old "Dudbridge Donkey" railway, dedicated to walkers and cyclists. This will bring you out in the small town of Nailsworth, where a trip to Hobbs' Bakery is not to be missed, or wallow in the high quality food fayre of William's Kitchen. Details and maps of all these lovely outings including walks, are available to you in a folder in your apartment.
  • We had a lovely 2 night stay in this apartment. The apartment is very modern and clean and has everything you could want and more, such as the breakfast basket, netflix and folder of helpful local information and walks. It was nice to have a well equipped kitchen to be able to cook. The view from the window by the table is stunning! It was a great base to explore the Cotswolds, with plenty of local walks to do and places to drive to. It was the nicest Airbnb we have stayed in and brilliant value for the price, would definitely recommend to others! Thank you Colleen and Roger!

  • Colleen's apartment was wonderful, she met us in person and gave us loads of hints and local information. The apartment was clean, well finished and had everything we needed, it was excellent. Thank you for your hospitality Colleen.

    Matthew2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Colleen's place was amazing, we were greeted well and shown the packed list of activities, and she even went out of her way to make sure we were entertained. As an added touch all of the information provided was available in multiple languages which we thought was such a nice thing to have. The space was lovely, although up a steep hill which you do get used to, it was modern and just the perfect size for a 2 person stay. Great if you want to go out to eat or cook in, we will definitely be visiting again.

    Emily2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic accommodation, amazing views and perfect hosts!

    Sue2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Colleen and Roger’s place is cozy and cute with a lovely view of the valley and hills. There’s a super nice pub located near by that we loved, be prepared to walk up a steep hill afterwards though. Colleen is a wonderful and helpful host. She had so much local information and maps.

    Laura2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I booked Colleen's Air BnB for our first wedding anniversary and it is by far one of the best places we have ever stayed at through Air BnB. Colleen was so accommodating with our late arrival from London and had lots of great suggestions for walks and places to visit while we were staying. Stroud is such a great location and so easy to get to lots of other places in the Cotswolds and Gloucestershire as well. I would highly recommend staying here again. The breakfast spread was also amazing!!! There were lots of little nice touches all around the place which made it feel so homely as well. Colleen was very helpful and so kind, a fantastic host.

    Philippa2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place to stay. Everything is new and very clean. Colleen is really friendly and thoughtful. Would highly recommend it. One of my best Airbnb experiences ever.

    Álvaro2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • I would definitely recommend Colleen and Roger's studio flat in Woodchester for a clean comfortable stay near Stroud. It is up a very steep hill which was a novelty for us and means the views are outstanding. The flat itself is compact but has everything needed and the little touches the hosts made were outstanding. Would stay again if in the area.

`This newly renovated studio is in the grounds of a 17th Century Cotswold stone farmhouse. On a peaceful lane surrounded by fields it is fully independent with own parking, entrance and patio garden. The views across the valley can be seen from the spacious, light sitting/dining area and patio garden. With comfortable king size bed, full kitchen, the famous Cotswold Way and award winning local pub only a short walk, it is a special place to spend some time. Come and see!
Selsley is a pretty village looking over the Stroud Valleys. It's evelvated position allows it an impressive view to nestling villages on the other side of the valley and up to the largest piece of common land in Europe! The studio is just minutes from the famous Cotswold Way - 101 mile of beautiful walking that stretches from the North Cotswolds to Bath. We have many pretty walks that can be started from the village or a small drive away. There are a number of places of interest to visit - just moments away is Selsley Church with stunning stained glass windows designed by William Morris, Woodchester Mansion - an unfinished grade I Victorian gothic house which they call the unfinished Masterpiece. Stroud Farmers Market is an award winning treasure with delicious local producers coming together to offer a fantastic choice of lunch on a Saturday. Westonbirt Arboremum is 20 minutes away which is especially stunning in Autumn with the festival of colour, but also has summer concerts with a variety of performers. A drive away we have the beautiful Spa gowns of Cheltenhamham and Bath. The studio is also a good base for local annual events such as Gatcombe and Badminton horse trials, Cheltenham literature and jazz festival.
  • We stayed here for two nights last weekend and it was a perfect escape in a gorgeous location. I cannot recommend Kate's guest house enough, its private, welcoming and provided a much needed retreat for those wanting to get a way from it all. I especially appreciated the recommendations and guide to the local area. The rooms are decorated beautifully and had everything needed for our stay. Would definitely come back again, thank you Kate!

    Katharine2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a perfect stay at this lovely place in Selsley! Kate was very welcoming to us and her communication throughout the booking and arrival process was great. The location is perfect for walks around Selsley Common and for driving to the farmers' market in Stroud. The apartment itself was very clean and cosy and had everything we needed. Overall, great value for money and we highly recommend staying here for a relaxing weekend in beautiful countryside :)

    Kate2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay! Really, really nice apartment in a fantastic location - 5 minutes walk from a lovely pub and so close to the Cotswolds Way and lots of beautiful walks. Kate was really helpful and gave us some tips on things to do when we arrived. Would definitely recommend and stay again!

  • Lovely place, great location and a truly delightful studio

    Ben2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Kate’s place was lovely and cosy - just as shown - and what a great location. She made super recommendations which we took up. Dinner at the local pub, and what was probably the best bacon sarnie we have ever had a Hobbs just a few minutes drive away!

    Gemma2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful stay. Lovely apartment and great host. Thank you Kate!

    Maria2019-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • The space was beautifully finished, stylish and very clean. As other reviews say, it was bigger than expected and very comfortable. The location is lovely with walks and views and we had a great meal at the Bell within easy walking distance. Overall we had a very relaxing weekend, thank you.

Grange Cottage is a stunning Cotswold stone cottage, which enjoys an idyllic rural location, with spectacular views across a valley to the Woodchester Valley Vineyard. The cottage is on the edge of the village of Amberley, which although small, has two well regarded pubs. Amberley backs onto the National Trust common land of Minchinhampton Common, a unique 600 acre open space with far reaching views, which offers walking, kite flying and an 18-hole golf course. The larger towns of Nailsworth and Stroud are close by, offering a vibrant selection of restaurants, shops and award-winning farmers markets. Grange Cottage is an ideal base for outdoor activities such as walking and cycling, as well as for exploring the wider Cotswolds region and further afield places, such as Bath, Oxford and even day trips into London. Important Customer Notice: - Special Events: Christmas, New Year and the Cheltenham Horse Racing Festival are Special Events, with bookings typically limited to weeks only from a specific start day If your dates don’t appear to fit, then please click Contact Host below to find out what options may exist for you!
Grange Cottage is a large semi-detached Cotswold stone cottage, which sits on a steep slope at the top of a rural lane, and benefits from stunning views. The front door opens into the conservatory, which leads through to a well laid out ground floor area: Conservatory: This room enjoys lovely views over the garden to Woodchester and beyond, and has two wicker chairs; Living room: From the conservatory, a step leads into the characterful living room, which has an exposed Cotswold stone fireplace with a wood burning stove, oak beams, and alcove shelving with a selection of local books. There are two two-seater sofas, a small arm chair and a window seat that looks out over the valley. There is also a SMART TV with a DVD player; Reading room: The living room adjoins this pretty room, which has French doors opening out to the garden. There is a small writing bureau, two chairs and a hamper of games; Kitchen/dining room: Steps lead up from the living room to the kitchen, a spacious room with a wooden dining table and seating for six. The well-equipped kitchen has a double electric oven, a six-ring gas hob, microwave, fridge, dishwasher, toaster, kettle and a hand blender; Utility room: A convenient space for boots and coats, which contains a washing machine/tumble dryer and a freezer; Cloakroom: Contains a toilet and a wash basin. Stairs lead up from the living room to the first-floor landing, off which are the following rooms: Master bedroom: A lovely eaves room, with high ceilings and exposed oak beams, which contains a king size bed and fitted wardrobe, and has nice views of the woodland behind the cottage; Bedroom 2; This bright room enjoys a sunny aspect, with views across to the Woodchester Valley Vineyard, and contains a large single bed; Bedroom 3: Contains a day bed, which is made up as a single bed. The window seat is perfect for watching the sun set; Family bathroom: Contains a bath with an overhead shower, toilet and wash basin. Steep spiral stairs, without a handrail, lead up from the first floor landing to: Bedroom 4: Another lovely eaves rooms, with exposed beams and panoramic views over the Woodchester Valley Vineyard and beyond. There is a double bed, fitted wardrobes and a free-standing flatscreen TV. The door to this bedroom is at the bottom of the stairs and it is not possible to put a stair gate at the top of the stairs, so this room may not be suitable for young children. The main garden area is at the front of the cottage, enclosed by Cotswold stone walls, and is mostly laid to lawn, with traditionally planted cottage garden borders and a variety of mature shrubs and trees. There is a patio area outside the conservatory, with an outdoor table and seating for six, which provides spectacular views across the valley to Woodchester and benefits from glorious sunsets. A lockable shed is available upon request to store bikes and other outdoor equipment. Steps from the back door lead up to a gravelled parking area, with space for two cars.
The Cotswolds are characterised by attractive small towns and villages, built of the underlying Cotswold stone (a yellow oolitic limestone). In the Middle Ages the wool trade made the Cotswolds prosperous and some of this money was put into the building of churches, leaving the area with a number of large handsome Cotswold stone "wool churches". The area remains affluent, which has encouraged the establishment of many high quality pubs, restaurants and antique shops.
  • A gorgeous cottage with lots of character and stunning views. We had a lovely cosy weekend with fires (make sure you pick up enough kindling from the local supermarket) and walks through the woods (wellies necessary!) to the pub, finished off with brunch in the well set up kitchen. Be prepared to climb a very steep hill if your car can’t make it up!

    Laura2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Grange Cottage is very comfortable, warm and cosy. It is a classic Cotswolds cottage with great views over the valley opposite. The location, while up a very steep hill, was excellent - - a short walk through the wood to the fantastic Amberley Inn - - and no issue with access with our car. The log burner was a welcome addition on the cold evenings we spent there.

    David2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you so much for a wonderful stay in your fabulous cottage. It was a beautiful warm, cosy and very clean property with views to die for! I cannot thank you enough for sending back our Google Chromecast so quickly after we left it behind in the property, it arrived in the post today. That is what I call a first class service! Funny thing was that we didn’t even need it as Netflix was already provided. I would like to highly recommend Character Cottages for anyone looking for a quiet and peaceful getaway.

    Sachin2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage had everything you could ask for - 4 beautiful bedrooms with lovely clean bed linen and comfortable beds. Fantastic views and a cosy log fire with idyllic walks around the area. It was very quiet and peaceful and just what we needed as four mums trying to get some relaxation time away from hectic lives and young children. We couldn’t recommend it highly enough. Thank you!

    Caroline2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful house located on a serene hill. Quaint details were added throughout the house which made the experience all the more wonderful. The place was super clean! The only downside is that it is located on a very steep hill & a bit too narrow & difficult to drive up. It was a very good stay regardless :)

    Maznan2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place to stay. Fantastic views. Cottage up a steep hill. Pleasant walks from the cottage. Low ceilings but that's to be expected when you consider when it was built.

    Mark2019-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • Brilliant cottage, all as described! Even though it rained quite literally the ENTIRE stay, we didn’t really notice because the house was so nice and had everything we needed! Thank you!

    Harriet2019-06-14T00:00:00Z
  • If your looking for a quaint well appointed traditional English cottage go no further!! It’s right here! A spotlessly clean, charming, cosy, scenic, comfortable home away from home. We've called it the Loft due the unique talls ceilings and exposed beams of the master bedroom.
  • Loved our stay at the Old Fleece Loft! Such an amazing space in a great old building! But space is modern and stylish! The pub downstairs was FANTASTIC and the food was top notch! Loved the Sunday roast! Special shout out to our friend Oliver who take great care of our family! Would definitely recommend the Loft!

  • Nick’s place is great, and he’s super quick to respond. The apartment is perfect for a weekend (or longer) away and has everything you need. It’s above The Old Fleece, so it’s really easy to check in and then you can treat yourself to lunch and dinner - as we did! It’s a perfect spot for rest and relaxation, and we really enjoyed going to Woodchester Valley Vineyard for their tasting tour. We’d definitely recommend Nick’s place, as well as The Old Fleece.

The Retreat is situated on Woodchester Valley Vineyard in the Cotswolds, close to Stroud and 1 mile from Nailsworth town with many restaurants, walks, shops and supermarkets. It offers spacious accommodation with stunning views over the valley, a fully equipped kitchen, log burners in both the kitchen and sitting rooms as well as the full sky TV package in 2 separate rooms. As this is adjacent to a working vineyard, regrettably no children under the age of 12 can be accommodated.
The master bedroom offers a super king size bed which can be made into twin beds upon request.
We are located 1.5 miles from the bustling town of Nailsworth, which has an abundance of restaurants, cafés and pubs for breakfast, brunch and dinner options. We are 3.5 miles from the market town of Stroud which boasts one of the best farmers markets in the country every Saturday. The spa towns of Cheltenham and Bath are within 45 minutes, and the area is very popular with walkers, cyclists and those looking for a base from which to explore the South Cotswolds.
  • We had such a wonderful stay here. Although there are only two bedrooms the communal space feels like the house is much larger. There are gorgeous log burners and the house is lovely and warm. We stayed for Christmas and the host had set up a beautiful Christmas tree with lights for us, and couldn't have been more helpful with various changes and questions we had in the run up. Thanks to you all and we hope to come again this year!

  • Second time staying at this Cotswold haven! Can not recommend this place enough, really is a home away from home with views for days! Such good value for money also! Cannot wait to come back again. Thank you to Gail & Carol for being such wonderful hosts!

  • A beutiful house with outstanding views. Well equiped, cozy and clean.

  • Had a fantastic stay at the retreat. A beautiful house with lovely views. It was incredibly spacious for just 4 people. The bathrooms and bedrooms are beautifully appointed with large showers and baths. Great enclosed garden for our little dog and also big garden out the front to enjoy. You are literally staying within the vineyards. We did the wine tasting tour at the vineyard, which we thoroughly enjoyed! Woodchester valley wines were superb! The tasting room is next door to the property. There are some great pubs nearby but not within walking distance. A lovely place to stay if you like wine and want a relaxing time! Highly recommend!

    Emily2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic location, incredible views, great facilities and space. A very quiet and secluded house in a stunning location, with amazing views across the valley. Tremendously peaceful and restorative.

    Alex2019-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • This place has the wow factor. The pictures don’t do it justice. The living room and kitchen are both huge and are great entertaining spaces. The kitchen and the living room both open out onto the front garden and drive which was perfect as the weather was so good when we visited! The bedrooms were a great size and exactly what we needed. It is a tad steep if you’re walking up, but it was generally fine and if you can’t be bothered with that then the local taxis were more than happy to take us home. The view over the hills is also fantastic - such a nice view to wake up to. Highly recommended. Gail was really helpful in the lead up to our visit and throughout!

    Peter2019-04-22T00:00:00Z
  • Pictures don’t do this home justice. It is beautiful, luxurious and relaxing. Just what we needed for our home base while walking the Cotswolds way.

Enjoy our lovely private ground floor studio-style room with plenty of space. Separate shower room & kitchenette area. Large, powerful shower, comfy bed with cotton sheets, fast Wi-Fi & beautiful vintage decor. Easy access via private entrance & parking. We provide everything for continental/ cereal breakfast with fresh coffee & OJ in the cool 1940’s cabinet with kettle, microwave & toaster. Great for exploring the area by foot, cycle or car. Lots of local info from friendly hosts if needed!
Our hillside house is set in a 3/4 acre walled garden and is a busy, vibrant family home. We are surrounded by nature and still have easy access to local towns. The lovely, generous guest room forms the lower ground floor of our house and has its own private entrance. Perfect base for walkers, runners, cyclists, golfers, event goers, foodies, naturalists, culture or just exploring! We are very mindful of our guests privacy and peace - and we are kept busy with pets, kids and various comings and goings, so will stay out of your hair unless you need us!
We live in a lovely timber clad house set in a 3/4 acre walled garden in a beautiful rolling valley running between Nailsworth and Stroud- both great towns to explore with an award winning Farmers market, local brewery (with pizza oven), great arts, pubs, music scene and lots of independant shops and cafe’s. We have direct access to footpaths through a nature reserve behind the house (endangered bush crickets!) up to Amberley village and beautiful Minchinhampton Common with its free ranging cows and ponies, ice cream factory, visiting circus, pubs, golf course, great views and kite flying. Or use the footpath down to the Nailsworth/Stroud cycle path, which in turn leads into the lovely canal tow paths. Great for mountain biking pretty much anywhere; golfing at Minchinhampton; walking & trees at Westonbirt; birds & nature at Slimbridge, horses at Gatcombe & Badminton; culture & shopping at Bath, Cheltenham and Cirencester. Or go large in Bristol! Last, but not least we are within walking distance of the mysterious Woodchester Park; or even up to spooky Hetty Pegler’s Tump....
  • Very nice area and room. The wee breakfast they left out was beaut

    Jenny2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay. Lovely little touches in the studio. Excellent location for exploring the local area with good pubs/restaurants in walking distance.

    Laurence2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Had a lovely stay here in this cosy, comfortable space. The location is stunning also. The bed was really comfy and we loved the gorgeous chesterfield sofa! I will say that it is worth taking a shower cap if you have long hair and won’t be washing it every time you shower. The shower is an exceptionally powerful monsoon type and it was tough to keep my hair dry! We were out for most of our stay so never met the hosts, but Tom was always on hand via text - I asked to borrow the iron and it was in the room by the time we’d returned from our walk. The breakfast touches were delicious and having a mini fridge was very useful. We had a very pleasant stay and hope to return! Thank you.

  • Lovely and luxurious studio flat.Very cosy, clean and tidy ...I will recommend to anyone as they are indeed super hosts.

    Chukwuemeka2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Not a single negative point to make from our 3 night stay. The accommodation is larger than it looks in the pictures, but remains a cosy hideaway for chilly evenings. It's full of interesting bits n bobs whilst the bathroom is more than adequate inclusive of a powerful shower. Comfy bed, comfy sofa, comfy table and chairs at which to eat your provided breakfast whilst watching the birds at the feeder opposite. The hosts provided tips about the area which we utilised, however there is so much within walking, hiking, or short driving distance we were spoilt for choice. Loved it.

The Cotswolds: If you’re looking for somewhere with a surprise round every corner then look no further than the beautiful Cotswolds. Famous for quintessentially English market towns and villages built from honey-coloured stone, the Cotswolds are a range of gently rolling hills and the largest Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in England and Wales making them a perfect base for keen walkers and cyclists. Escape the high street and lose yourself in village lanes full to bursting with quirky and independent shops, restaurants and farmers markets or soak up the amazing atmosphere of one of our many festivals and events. You’ll find some of the world’s most famous – and beautiful gardens in the Cotswolds, as well as wildlife parks, castles and stately homes and some of the finest historic buildings and churches in the country. Don’t be put off by our lack of coastline either! We have 40 miles of lakes in the Cotswold Water Park and numerous gently winding streams, canals and waterways criss-crossing the picturesque towns and villages. On the door step: WOODCHESTER PARK - the secret valley: Nestled in the Cotswolds, the secluded valley of Woodchester Park is home to the remains of an 18th- and 19th-century landscape park, a Victorian mansion, a chain of five lakes fringed by woodland and pasture, and an abundance of wildlife. The 19th Century Victorian Gothic Masterpiece was abandoned in mid-construction in 1873. Hidden in a secluded Cotswold valley, it is untouched by time and the modern world. This Grade 1 Listed Building has been saved from dereliction, but will never be completed. Visitors walk through an extraordinary architectural exhibit in which the secrets of the medieval Gothic builders and masons are laid bare. The carvings in Woodchester Mansion are among the finest of their kind in the world. 3 mins drive / 30 mins walk: NAILSWORTH: The artistic, market town of Nailsworth is nestled in a wooded valley in the south Cotswolds. Nailsworth is renowned for its selection of award-winning restaurants, pubs and cafes. Eating out in Nailsworth means you are spoilt for choice. Hobbs House Bakery is famous for being owned by the Fabulous Baker Brothers – Tom and Henry Herbert – and was featured on their TV show. William’s Food Hall has helped turn Nailsworth into a foodie haven. It draws celebrities and foodies through its doors to dine on fresh seafood and local produce. 5 mins drive: MINCHINHAMPTON The delightful, small market town of Minchinhampton sits on the edge of Minchinhampton Common. It's made up of pretty stone cottages, many dating back to the 17th century and medieval wool trade. There is a weekly country market and a good choice of cafes. Minchinhampton was chosen as a scenic location for the recent BBC TV adaptation of J K Rowling’s Casual Vacancy. There are breathtaking panoramic views of the Stroud Valleys from Minchinhampton Common, which sits on the Cotswold escarpment. It is an important archaeological landscape and managed by the National Trust. Rare orchids and butterflies can be spotted along with freely roaming horses and cattle. Please drive carefully over the common and keep an eye out for (URL HIDDEN) of the most famous residents is the Princess Royal who lives at Gatcombe Park on the edge of town. Every year, the famously quirky Giffords Circus takes up residence in Minchinhampton as part of its annual summer tour of the Cotswolds. 15 mins drive: TETBURY: Tetbury is a historic market town that is now internationally famous for its range of antiques shops and dealers. Independent boutique shops sit alongside restaurants that feature in the Michelin Guides. Tetbury attracts everyone from Royalty (Prince Charles and his sons' home, Highgrove, sits less than a mile away) to English countryside lovers, antique-finders, foodies and real ale connoisseurs. 8 min drive: STROUD: In the opposite direction and you will find yourself in the market town of Stroud - Situated below the western escarpment of the Cotswold Hills at the meeting point of the Five Valleys, the town is noted for its steep streets, independent spirit and cafe culture. The Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty surrounds the town, and the Cotswold Way path passes by it to the west. The award winning saturday farmers market IS A MUST! 25 min drive: BIBURY & ARLINGTON Bibury is a charming, typically Cotswold village just a short drive from Cirencester. It’s easy to see why William Morris called Bibury ‘The most beautiful village in England’ – wonderful stone buildings strung out along the banks of the River Coln. Arlington Row, owned by the National Trust, is one of England’s most iconic and photographed sites – it even appears on the inside cover of UK passports! Originally built in the 14th century as a monastic wool store, it was converted in the 17th century into a row of weavers’ cottages. The cottages are now lived in by National Trust tenants, with no public access to the cottages or gardens, although one of them can be rented out as a holiday cottage. The River Coln flows through Bibury sandwiched between the main village street and an expanse of boggy water meadow known as Rack Isle, so called because wool was once hung out to dry there on racks after it had been washed in Arlington Row. With Arlington Row as a backdrop, it makes one of the most picturesque scenes you will find in the Cotswolds. 30 min drive:CHELTENHAM SPA 45 min drive: BATH SPA
  • Victoria and her place are so great. She went above and beyond to accommodate me and ensure I got the most out of my stay. The nearby nature reserve was so tranquil and alive. Truly a beautiful place!

  • Lovely little apartment done up to a very good standard. Very homely and cosy. Fully equipped kitchen which was great as we didn't want to head out for dinner. Was in a good location to a few shops and pubs. Bit of miscommunication with check in, however was sorted quite easily.

    Gemma2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Victoria's place was very cosy and had everything we needed. Great location and amenities also, would have no reservations recommending her place to anyone. Thanks again!

  • My husband and I were looking for a quiet night away. We came across this place and thought it looked interesting. We were blown by the beautiful location. We also booked a couple's yoga session which was incredible. It gave us 1.5 hours to really connect with each other. Victoria & Dave were amazing hosts. We will be back again without a doubt.

    Lucy2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • A little gem of an apartment. We also had a few of the amazing ‘treatments/sessions’ on offer by Victoria which we found great. Her hospitality adds to the totally relaxing atmosphere. Lots of walks straight from the apartment. Shops, restaurants and bars a few miles away and yet you feel in the middle of nowhere.

    Ciaran2019-12-04T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic apartment, spacious, clean and Nick left some useful tips on where to go and what to do in the local area. Communication was excellent and we were made to feel at home. We were a short tax from Stroud and the pub next door was excellent. Would thoroughly recommend.

  • Great stay at stylish large upper floor apartment with its own entrance. Apartment was sparkling clean, with plenty of amenities including modern bathrooms and kitchen. Great pub next door with excellent food.

    Stuart2019-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • Great host , apartment lovely and clean . Very stylish and tons of space . Comfy beds and huge kitchen well kitted out. Nice to have 2 bathrooms too. There is parking on site and a great pub next door The Old Fleece which I would highly recommend. Food was excellent , and were the helpful friendly staff, good beer and excellent local wine. Although as I said the kitchen is large and I would imagine would be easy to cook in too. The only thing to be aware of was that you can hear the early morning traffic into Stroud from the front bedroom ,as the lovely old building can't have double glazing , to be fair it was wet outside and the road noise is always more.

    Sue2019-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely spacious apartment, situated in a pretty village. An excellent pub just next door which has lovely food. Would definitely recommend staying here, value for money!

    Taylor2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • A stunning place, huge rooms, beautiful garden with lots to explore and very comfortable. If you want a taste of what its like to live in a manor this is perfect. Nick was kind enough to ensure we had access when we arrived at 4am. Its just a shame we didn't have time to explore the local area. We did have dinner next door and the food is highly recommended at a very reasonable price.

  • Thanks for the use of your lovely place! It was a little sanctuary for us during the worst of the building works. As a local I’m used to the gorgeous lanes with cows ambling along but it was fun to get to know a different area.

  • I arrived late in the evening and was greeted by Nadine's lovely daughter, and left the next morning after meeting Nadine at breakfast - so I didn't spend much time at the house. But the room was very nice and clean, with a wonderfully comfortable bed, tea making facilities and information about local pubs. Nadine was lovely to talk to - very happy with my stay and would recommend!

    Grace2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Even though my Course nearby was cancelled I decided to turn up and I'm glad I did. Nadine and her daughter are wonderful hosts and have a beautiful home, they are both very thoughtful people and it was everything I thought it would be and more. It's a great location for the Cotswold's and the surrounding area and central Stroud is a stones throw away. Stunning views from their balcony and some great walks if you want them, whilst Nadine is wonderful company and her daughter too and both generous and decent people. Cannot recommend highly enough.

    Leslie2019-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely place to stay. It's friendly, relaxed and comfortable. The room is comfortable and clean, Nadine and her daughter are friendly and kind, and there are some excellent pubs nearby! The common is worth a wander, and the centre is pretty close, especially if you have a bike. It was really helpful that Nadine let me store my bike in their hallway. Just one thing to note is that the wifi is not always on, but Nadine was always very happy to turn it on when I asked. Thanks for a great visit!

    Kate2019-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • A very good nights sleep at Nadine’s home. Really quiet and peaceful. I was made to feel very welcome and Nadine is an easy going and friendly host.

  • I visited Shireen's air bnb at the end of February with a group of 9 people. Everyone oo-ed and ahh-ed when they walked in the door. Between the many different rooms (all comfortable and lavishly decorated) and the historic charm we were really, really happy. Everyone vowed to rent it again in the summertime so we could make use of the built-in grill. I will say that the local taxi companies were a bit of a pain and you should -call in advance- if you have plans to go out to dinner in Nailsworth or something.

  • Cottage was absolutely amazing. Photos do not do it justice. Very easy location to get to the surrounding area and explore parts of the Cotswolds for walks although we did not go at the best of times. Easily slept 5 adult couples with no trouble, just watch the headroom as with most cottages door ways quite low. All in all can’t fault and excellent value for money.

  • Great host, the little touches were lovely. House much bigger than expected and the pictures don’t show the ‘snug’ which has a huge TV and sofas! Thank you for being accommodating and thoughtful.

  • Amazing stay at the lodge in Woodchester Valley, we couldn’t have asked for more. The lodge is incredible, way better than even the pictures which are amazing. When we arrived there was a little treat for us, which just added to the experience. My fiancé and I want to come back in the summer, we just loved it so much. Thank you to Gail for all the recommendations too :)

  • Before I came I didnt noticed I have booked a modern wooden barn house adjacent to the vineyard. Staying here, you will see shining stars, the nice sunrise and sunset. Besides, the house is luxurious and simple, you can find everything you want. A pity is that I didnt get to try the wine. I will bring family and friends to visit this place again in the summer.

  • Our stay at the pottery couldn't have been better. A perfect weekend escape from the city with lovely walks and pubs nearby. Thank you!

  • The Pottery is a lovely place to stay, great walks on your door step and a beautiful space to stay in. Karen and Alan were very thoughtful, leaving us a lovely card for our anniversary and home made cake. It was also easy to communicate and checkin without any trouble.

    Paula2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • This really is a very special place to stay. The welcome from Karen and Allan is super and we were very touched by the real attention to detail - fresh flowers from the garden, homemade cakes, milk in the fridge and beautifully laundered and ironed crisp white bed linen. We felt very spoilt! The place is spotless and very well equipped, they really have thought of everything you might need. We loved the view over the valley from the kitchen window, the private entrance and seating in the garden and the very welcoming pub next door. We will be back.

    Kate2019-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • Karen and Alan were perfect hosts . The Pottery is a well equipped , cosy annexe which we found sparkling clean and very welcoming . We appreciated the little touches of milk in the fridge and home baked cakes waiting for us. Alan was very helpful giving us details of local walks and Places of interest and the all important list of places which were showing the England v New Zealand rugby game . The Pottery is very dog friendly and has a lovely safe garden for your four legged friend . The pub next door is very convenient for your evening meal and we can recommend the food . We would definitely return .

    Louise2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • We found the Annex, (called The Pottery) wonderful! We felt so at home, and so did our black lab. All the little touches were lovely, the views were stunning. Karen was so helpful when we first arrived, and very informative. We loved it very much, we will definitely be back. Thanks again, David and Bonny

    David2019-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • The Annex was so lovely, cozy and clean! We will definately be returning at some point.

    Eloise2019-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • The Pottery is the most beautiful location with amazing views from the garden. Karen and Alan are fantastic hosts. All enquiries were answered quickly. I was greeted on arrival , given a guide to facilities and the area then left alone. There were lovely thoughtful bits such as tea, coffee and biscuits/ cakes ( which didn’t last long) and fresh flowers from the garden. Vinnie my dog also had some treats and the dog towel was very welcome because I had forgotten mine. I would love to return - hopefully when it’s not raining this time.

    Karen2019-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • The Pottery is situated as an annex to the main house (beautiful and built in 1850 apparently). The view from the garden is wonderful and the hosts have kept a private area available for use by people staying complete with several tables and chairs. The accommodation itself was spotlessly clean and well equipped. We had everything we needed and there were some lovely little touches such as welcome cakes. We loved the fact that it is dog friendly and the little touches extended to spare bags and dog treats. Alan and Karen were keen to tell us about local walks and amenities and made us feel very welcome. The village is very rural with cattle roaming freely during the summer. Shops, restaurants and take aways are less than 5 minutes away in Nailsworth whilst a very popular pub (The Black Horse) is next door. Be sure to visit Winstone Ice cream shop on the common for the most delicious local Cotswold ice cream. To summarise, thoroughly recommended.

Single room in two bedroom bungalow. Apologies to male guests, but this B and B is for women only. 20 - 25 minutes walk from the centre of Stroud or there is a bus every half an hour at the bottom of the road. Self service breakfast included. Views up to Rodborough and Selsey Commons from the living room and kitchen, easy walking distance of Stroud Canal, the Cotswold Way and other footpaths and close to the Nailsworth-to-Stroud cycle track. There is on-street parking.
The bed is very comfortable, the room is carpeted, and is next to the bathroom. There are empty shelves in the cupboard and pegs on the wall and door with hangers for clothes. There is a chair and bedside table.
The neighbourhood is on the edge of Stroud in an area of housing built mainly in the 1960s. There are footpaths nearby that take you up onto the Commons. There is a new Aldi at the bottom of the road and a large Sainsburys about half a mile away. The nearest eating places are the Clothiers Arms or the Golden Fleece - or Sainsburys - and Stroud itself has many great cafés and restaurants and the Farmers' Market on a Saturday.

Beautiful guest suite situated in a lovely Cotswold village in an area of outstanding natural beauty. The accommodation is fully self contained on the ground floor of our home and is beautifully equipped for your enjoyment. The location really does have the wow factor with both stunning views, great local amenities and acres of National trust common land to explore.
Guests have access to the property via their own private entrance on the terrace which affords amazing views over the Woodchester Valley. Once inside there is a hallway, spacious double bedroom with king size bed, bathroom with bath and shower and a small lounge / kitchenette to relax, unwind and prepare food or a drink to enjoy on the terrace. The kitchenette is ‘small but perfectly formed’. It has a combination microwave/cooker/grill. Fridge with small freezer compartment, nespresso coffee machine, kettle, toaster and an induction one ring hob. It is well equipped and provides the option of staying in and preparing a meal. A small selection of breakfast items are provided too, as well as tea, coffee for your convenience and enjoyment. The lounge has a sofa bed and a comfortable fold up bed is available to borrow for additional guests or little people. The size really makes it more ideal for a couple or three people rather than two couples. There is a Tv with amazon fire stick offering a range of free channels and films and a blue tooth speaker. The property is equipped and furnished to a high standard to ensure every comfort is provided for. It is light and airy and has been decorated in fresh neutral tones with some homely ‘Cotswold’ touches. There is underfloor heating throughout with thermostatic controls in each room. It’s a lovely warm house but refreshingly cool in the summer being at ground floor level.
Three pubs within 5-10 minutes walk, great cycling, walking and golfing on your doorstep. Easy access to Nailsworth down the road and it’s excellent range of independent shops and quirky welcoming vibe.
  • Great views from the terrace, bed was really comfy and the kitchen was well equipped. Several good pubs within walking distance, lovely walks along the commons, great as a couples retreat.

  • Oak Gables was a superb stay for a couple of days. With fantastic views down over the valley, Heather has a multitude of great recommendations and never failed to get back in touch if we had any minor questions about the local area and more general for our stay. Such a clean, succinct place to stay with everything that you require, all just a short walk away to the many great pubs and other local villages. A very welcoming and thoughtful host and will definitely look forward to returning again.

Nature is right at your finger tips!" - Julie
We are situated in the central Cotswolds, which makes a perfect base to tour local historic towns, picturesque villages and famous royal households. A landscape of nearly 300 acres of National Trust land - Rodborough Common is an area of outstanding natural beauty just to the north of Minchinhampton Common; offering a dramatic panorama, overlooking quintessential Cotswold country side and the Severn Vale. Minchinhampton Common is famous for Tom Long the notorious 18th century highwayman who was hanged for his misdemeanours on the spot where he committed some of his crimes, now known as 'Tom Long's Post'. Legend has it that his ghost makes a guest appearance at the local Amberley Inn. The area shares a long history of 'royal connections' - the earliest connection dates back to Saxon charters in AD741 during the reign of King Aethabald; today, HRH Princess Anne and Prince Charles live in nearby Minchinhampton and Tetbury. Highgrove House - Tetbury became the first home for Prince Charles and Princess Diana's young sons Princes William and Harry and they spent much of their early years on the estate. Princess Diana made many shopping trips to neighbouring Tetbury and Cirencester during her years at Highgrove and locals became used to seeing her and the young Princes out and about in the area. Please see 'Paul's Guidebook' for recommendations and best places to see, during your visit.

This modern 'Bothy' is set aside from my 300 year old millers' cottage. The Bothy has been beautifully refurbished and boasts stunning views across a Cotswold valley and a private space for you and your visiting group.
This is the sort of place you would come to be peaceful and look over a view that you can't help but smile at, and maybe use it for a base to explore the surrounding countryside - the Cotswold Way, Cotswold villages and the surrounding market and Regency towns. The roads around The Bothy are small, single-track and not for the faint-hearted, so please be warned! I give full detailed instructions when you book, so please take note of them.
There are many friendly pets in this neighbourhood. And neighbours. It is a tranquil location, with the main noise coming from children playing outside (like they used to in the good old days), foxes, owls, sheep, horses, cows and chickens. There is a short (but steep) walk onto the nearby common, which is lovely to watch the sunset from.
  • Very clean, cosy & comfortable place to stay. Lots of natural light and gorgeous views across the valley. Naomi went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. Would highly recommend!

  • Lovely, clean and cosy place. Only a short walk from supermarkets etc and a short drive from most of the pubs. Lots of recommended walking route pamphlets in the Lodge. From outside the front door you can see across the whole of Stroud so when my partner and I were here over New Year's Eve we could watch the sky light up with fireworks from all over. Would definitely recommend.

  • We stayed at the lodge for 2 nights and were pleasantly surprised that it was everything we were expecting and more. During our stay we were made to feel very welcome and our personal space was well respected. The lodge was finished to a high standard, plus the host had gone out of her way to add a number of finishing touches to make our stay more pleasant We would not hesitate to repeat visit this lodge and would recommend that future visitors take a walk to Selsley Common, which provides stunning views over the Cotswolds. Kate, thank you for your hospitality.

Tanglewood is a cosy cottage retreat with a contemporary feel. There is a spacious kitchen diner, a snug with woodburner and a peaceful micro-library. Enjoy comfortable beds, linens, fluffy towels and simple, colourful touches. The compact, elevated terrace affords views of the beautiful Stroud valley and our lovely local pub is a scenic 3 minute walk away! Tanglewood suits walkers, dog lovers, foodies, arty types, culture vultures, bookworms and lazybones! Great value in a popular location.

Self contained garden flat with on and off street parking in a very quiet residential neighbourhood about 20 minutes walk into the centre of town.
-It's important to know that there are steps down into and within the property so it wouldn't be suitable for people with mobility problems. -The property is fully furnished. It's an open plan space with the bath, shower and sink in the bedroom, which is upstairs and a separate WC and sink downstairs. There is a fully equipped kitchen and lounge area. There is a sofa-bed in the conservatory/dinning area. -Guest can have access to the garden with exceptional views over the surrounding landscape -Stroud is 40 minutes travelling time from Cheltenham race course - The festival in March.
The flat is located in Rodborough, which as mentioned above is about 20 minutes walk into Stroud town centre, but is lovely and quiet with some exceptional views and good possibilities for walks around Rodborough common. It is also a great base for exploring the Cotswolds and surrounding areas.
  • John goes above and beyond to make the most of your stay and has a great understanding of the area. Great guy.

    Joss2019-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • A very warm welcome, the kettle boiled for tea and flowers on the table. John was a very helpfull and knowledgeable host. The apartment was clean and roomy with fabulous views and within easy access of the town and some stunning scenery. We would not hesitate to stay again and an absolute bargin for the price.

    Michelle2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Johns place is great value for money. Comfortable for the 3 of us- my parents and I. I was in a converted sunroom with comfortable single bed (an upgrade from the settee which is mentioned in the listing). We were able to use the kitchen facilities and cook dinner one night. A truly beautiful area, the photos don’t do it justice. Would highly recommend the 15min walk up to the old castle for views over the valley at sunset, was simply breathtaking.

    Mel2019-06-17T00:00:00Z
  • John is an excellent host. He really will go the extra mile for his guests and the apartment is very spacious and clean. It was the ideal accommodation.

    Jos2019-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • The Garden Flat is a great place to stay for local amenities; we used it as a base to go walking in the area. John is an attentive host and checked in regularly to make sure we were ok and if we needed anything. He recommended the King's Head pub which is about 1/2 mile walk, and served brilliant pub grub - we would also recommend! The accomodation is straightforward and functional, we slept well and were generally comfortable. Shampoo/shower gel are not provided, which wasn't a problem as we had our own - other than that, everything was provided for. Many thanks John, for your hospitality!

Romantic Cotswold village hideaway for 2, with ultra modern facilities and a period feel. Country walks in all directions, and 17thC inn on the doorstep. Pet friendly. Professional disinfectant used on all surfaces before each stay to ensure a safe retreat.
Half-pint Cottage is perfect for a couple who wish to be independent . One well behaved dog also welcome. Although we love children, we regret that the cottage is unsuitable, because of the staircase.
"Half-pint Cottage", is situated in the village of Selsley, with its pretty Cotswold houses, a working farm, seventeenth century inn, and Selsley Common, a vast open space with far ranging views. Selsley Parish Church is famous for its beautiful "Pre-Raphaelite" stained glass windows. Selsley is situated on the "Cotswold Way" walking route. The adjacent town of Stroud is renowned for its Saturday Farmers'Market, canal , and the beauty of its" five valleys". Many stately homes, National Trust gardens, and towns such as Bath, Cheltenham , Tetbury and Gloucester are within an easy drive.
  • A wonderful and cosy cottage to stay at. We had a lovely time. The fire was delightful and the bedroom and lounge had everything you would need. Location is fantastic with a lovely pub just 50 meters away, Sainsbury’s a few mins walk and Stroud only a short distance away. Ideal if you’re looking for to get away somewhere cosy and clean for a relaxing weekend.

  • A lovely cozy, comfortable cottage in a beautiful part of the world. Full of character as well as comfortable amenities. Has everything you would need. Joan was very helpful and quick to respond to messages. As you would expect in a cottage like this, the stairs would be a little challenging if you had any mobility issues. Some lovely walks around the area - and The Bell pub just up the road has an amazing selection of gins!

  • Half-pint cottage was the perfect place to relax and enjoy time in the Cotswolds. The charming Victorian cottage is cozy and quiet with views of the garden and local hills. The kitchen, second-floor sitting area and third-floor bedroom are warm and inviting spaces, well furnished with all the amenities needed for a most comfortable stay. After an incredible meal one night at The Bell Inn, a short walk up the hill, I saw the most spectacular sunset from the windows on the top floor. If we ever return to this part of the world, I would definitely stay here again.

The Poolhouse Please note: the pool is now covered until Easter. Set in the Cotswold village of Rodborough, this unique holiday retreat is a five minute walk from Rodborough Common, an area owned by the National Trust and consisting of nearly 300 acres of grassland. The Poolhouse was built in the late 1960’s in glass, timber and Cotswold stone (reputed to have originated from Prinknash Abbey), It is southwest facing to ensure maximum sun through out the day. The Poolhouse has recently been refurbished to a high standard. The interior has been sympathetically restored to reflect the period it was built, comprising of mid-century fittings, furniture and original posters. The house consists of one double bedroom and a shower room. The open plan living space comprises of a kitchen with a breakfast bar, a dining area, a large settee, a TV and DVD player, and a wood-burning stove. There is also a utility room with a washer/dryer. Externally the house consists of a private swimming pool surrounded by cedar decking, several seated tables including what was part of an old stone cider press and also a large table near the shade of two ancient apple trees; a perfect place to eat outside or just admire the view. The house is set in grounds shared by the owner, but is discretely tucked away. The pool is covered from mid October until mid-May. Rodborough Common, set in open grassland on the Cotswold escarpment, commands impressive views of Stroud and the Severn Vale. In the summer cattle roam free, often wandering across roads. In the rambling 19th century golf course it is not uncommon to see cattle blocking golfers as they try to take shots. To admire the view visit The Lodge pub in the middle of the common, or have an ice cream at Winstones Cotswold Ice Cream factory. In the village of Rodborough is the pub The Prince Albert; a couple of minutes walk from the Poolhouse, The Albert is a busy, characterful pub that has regular music nights with musicians of repute as well as comedy nights. The house is a mile from the small bustling market town of Stroud with its independent shops, pubs and cafés. Once the industrial centre of the Cotswold’s and the wool industry, it is still very much a working town. There are regular arts and music festivals held here as well as a weekly award winning farmers market. Close by is Tetbury known for its antique shops and 12 miles away is the spa town of Cheltenham, famous for its racecourse which hosts the annual Gold Cup as well as its many cultural festivals. Gloucester, with its medieval Cathedral is 10 miles away and the ancient market town of Cirencester is also 10 miles away Nearby is the village of Slad, immortalized by the author Laurie Lee in his novel Cider with Rosie, and its pub The Woolpack as well as the villages of Bisley, Minchenhampton and Painswick, with its famous churchyard of 99 clipped yew trees. The surrounding Cotswolds’ also has a wealth of houses and gardens open to the public. Walkers can access the famous Cotswold Way, 102 miles along the Cotswold escarpment, stretching from Chipping Campden to Bath with sweeping views and passing through picturesque villages in Cotswold stone. Further afield the city of Bath and the city of Bristol are both a 45-minute drive away. Transport links: Stroud train station is less than a mile away; there are hourly trains to London, Gloucester and Cheltenham. Paddington is 90 minutes away by train. The house would be ideally suited to a couple. Due to the proximity of the pool to the house it is unsafe for younger children, and no pets. Prices vary from £125 a night low season, to £165 high season. Minimum stay 2 nights.
  • Fantastic place and a great host too. Would definitely recommend.

    Julia2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful long weekend at the pool house. The place is ideal to get away from the hustle and bustle, just chillout and relax by the fire. The place has been meticulously restored to its former 60s glory! The hosts were very attentive, provided great tips and responded very quickly to our messages. I can only recommend the pool house, it is amazing.

    Ulli2019-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • The Pool House is a fabulous place full of style and comfort. Everything you need is there as are breathtaking walks on the door step. The house and pool are totally private but set in the hosts grounds should you need anything - we used the pool and had a great week - Thankyou

  • We absolutely adored this place! It’s so stylish and fun! Tony met us and we were able to check in earlier as the previous guests left the day before and Tony was around. Which pretty much added a whole day to our stay! Tony showed us around and went through the import things like the heating! In the bathroom they had shampoo, conditioner, body wash, toothpaste, a razor which is great if you’re forgetful like me! In the kitchen they also had some tea and coffee, salt, honey etc little basics that might be useful which was great! Tony then told us the route to the nearby Sainsbury’s when was very handy! The whole place is so nice you don’t wanna leave it but the area is amazing too! We loved the cows nearby and Stroud is sooo close like a 4 minute drive, we parked at the station and ate out there both nights. First night we ate at an Italian called Sorrento which was gorgeous and second night we ate at an Indian called Rajdoot which was nice too. We went to Woodchester national trust park, really lovely! The next day we went to the Cotswolds Wildlife Park and Gardens and it’s brilliant £16 an adult and it’s huge, they have over 260 species of animals and the gardens are incredible. Best day out I think we’ve had in years! Highly recommend, it was about an hour drive away but so so worth it, you probably want 4 hours there. On our last day we went to Bibury just because we drove past on the way to the wildlife park and it looked busy. It’s been named the most beautiful village in Britain and it is cute but not much to do other than the trout farm! So we did that and walked around and that was fun, was about a fiver each to go to the trout farm and they give you food for them! It’s a great place to just get away and see nature! Thanks Reed and Tony for a brilliant anniversary trip!

    Catherine2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • I can’t recommend staying here enough. The apartment is so brilliantly done that it can be hard to motivate yourself to leave it to make the most of the beautiful countryside on your doorstep. The tips on where to eat and where to wander were all spot on and we’re already looking forward to coming back.

    Beck2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing stylish poolhouse which looks like something out of Mad Men, but also has modern conveniences such as a great music player and Netflix on the TV. Generally the place has been fitted out and furnished to a very high standard, and a lot of care has been taken to make everything match the 60s vibe/theme. We unfortunately picked a bad weekend weather-wise so did not make use of the pool itself, but we really enjoyed the poolhouse.

    Briony2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing place. Exactly what we expected. Very quirky with its 60's deco, such a comfy bed!! The pool is a bonus. Its not heated, but this didn't bother us. Everything you need for catering, utensil wise, and salt, pepper, oil and sugar also provided. Large rain shower, which was lovely. Great base for exploring the common with its roaming cows. We had the most amazing weather too. Thank you we will be back.

    Helen2019-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • If you're looking for the perfect spot for a country getaway, look no further. The pool house is stunningly appointed, with gorgeous views, and pretty much everything you need to hide away for a while. Reed and Tony are next level hosts, helping out and giving assistance and tips when needed, but not bothering or being in the way either. My partner and I enjoyed the space immensely and found it perfect for our anniversary.

  • We had the most fantastic time staying in the Cotswolds in this beautiful barn conversion. The place is stunning and has everything you could possibly want - it was immaculate and check in was a breeze with a simple key box. There were so many kind touches, a lovely note and guestbook, fresh cakes, toiletries in the bathrooms, robes and more. It was really a joy from start to finish. Chloe and Gail were extremely communicative and had plenty of knowledge and tips for the local area. We had a superb time and thank you again!

  • Lucy's place is perfect its really clean and has a lovely view across the valley. Communication and check in and out was really easy and a late check out was accommodated which we really appreciated. I have stayed in many airbnb's over the last few years and this one was really nice and very good value so I would definitely recommend to stay here.

  • There is absolutely nothing to fault about this property. It is sparklingly clean, meticulously thought out with everything you could possibly need, cosy, comfy yet stylish and in the most stunning location. We had a wonderful Christmas here and will look to book again when we can make the most of the stunning countryside we looked out upon.

  • We've just had a super pre Christmas break with old friends and were delighted to be welcomed with a beautiful (real) tree in the lounge and pretty lights on the table. Mince pies, milk, plenty of tea & coffee were also on tap. Spotlessly clean, tastefully furnished and far more spacious than the photos indicate. Plenty of board games and DVD's on the shelf so you won't get bored. In summer, the terrace would be fabulous, it was too cold to be out there this weekend but the views were lovely. Lucy's tip about Stroud's Saturday Farmer's Market was a good one, it's not to be missed. Walk along the canal while you're there and generally have a good time. We did!

  • This place is thousand times better than one can expect! It's pure magic. It's grand and huge and exceptionally clean. The host creates lots of special touches to make it even more appealing: wonderful collection of books and games, amazing breakfast with lots of local and home made goodies, dressing gowns etc... We loved the place and very friendly accommodating owners-would 100% recommend to all and anyone that will ask us where to stay in Cotswolds.

  • Wonderful house - a bit of a time capsule. Great breakfast and good old fashioned hospitality. Anne was very flexible for us regarding check in and was very easy to communicate with. Very good value too.

  • Anne's bnb is fantastic, a beautiful house tucked away in the country. Exactly what we needed for our stay to visit a friends wedding. Anne was friendly, a great communicator and extremely flexible for us. I would absolutely recommend this beautiful place to anyone.

  • Woodchester Lodge is a hidden gem. Tucked away in the rolling hills of Woodchester, this home is a stunning beauty of its own. Anne is the quintessentially perfect hostess. The rooms are spacious and there is parking. The continental breakfast is delicious. Really a wonderful place to stay!

  • This is a lovely place to stay for any trip around the Cotswolds. The hosts are wonderful, friendly and very accommodating and could not do any more for us. (and we had many requests) The house was very spacious, clean and comfortable. The breakfast was plentiful and made with products local to the area. It is a beautiful area with a great mixture of woodland and countryside with Cotswold style houses in between. There was six in my party including two young children, we were all made to feel like we were at home and the children had plenty of books and toys to keep them occupied. Overall our host greatly enhanced our time travelling around the Cotswolds and helped add to some wonderful memories

En-suite room with own sitting room / study, wifi own locked entrance. Small kitchenette and continental breakfast Lovely garden rooms, newly developed and overlook garden and views from our family home in the grounds of Stanley Park, a Cotswold manor house. Sorry, no dogs, babies or small children.
The garden rooms are newly developed as part of our recent house renovations, set on the ground floor adjacent to the garden and below the main house. The large bedroom is attractive, spacious and well equipped with plenty of drawer and wardrobe space. The en-suite has a large shower, loo and basin and is bright and clean. We have a king sized bed, which can be split into two twin single beds if wanted. (Please request this when booking.) The apartment is accessed through its own sitting room with smart TV and DVD, two easy chairs and a table with dining / desk chairs suitable for eating and/or work. Full wifi There is a small kitchen in a cupboard: with fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle and sink. We will supply a variety of foods for a continental breakfast, tea and coffee etc. You can prepare this for yourselves, at your leisure. You can use the fridge for storing your own food for self catering other meals if you require. (Just a microwave- no hob or oven.) The sitting room is accessed through the locking patio doors into the garden. This is accessed around the side of the house from the drive, with a separate drive and parking space for guests. Guests also have access to their own garden seating area, with lovely views of the surrounding countryside and our large garden. No smoking inside please and sorry, no dogs, babies or small children.
Selsley is a small village just outside Stroud, with its own large common (open land) on the hill, with outstanding views. (It is listed as an AONB and is a lovely place to walk- just a minute or two from our house) We are directly on the Cotswold way with lovely rolling hillside walks in all directions. It's also a great spot for enthusiastic cyclists. It's quite hilly, but there are great views all around and lots of cyclists about. (The Tour of Britain cycle race is passing through Selsley this year.) The village has a lovely pub (The Bell Inn Selsley -website available.) It serves good food and beer and is about a 5/10 minute walk from our house. Stroud is a fantastic town with award winning farmers market on Saturdays. It has a station, playhouse, cinema etc. We are on the edge of the Cotswolds, with the small but interesting cities of Gloucester, Cheltenham, Bristol and Oxford all easily accessed. It is an easy train journey into London.
  • Very nice hostess and a great place to be. Very good beds and wonderful view. Not everywhere can a view on a meadow be enjoyed and see roe deer passing nu. The location is perfect for exploring the Cotswolds. For us the included breakfast was a surprise, but was also great. Rachel is very attentive.

    Stefanie2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • The place is very cosy and comfortable. The local pub, which Rachel recommended, was fantastic. Really good food. The views from the apartment are amazing and it's very close to Stroud. Easy to travel around the Cotswolds from there. Definitely recommend staying there.

  • Amazing location with breathtaking views. Lovely space and very sweet, thoughtful touches. Would highly recommend it.

    Fran2019-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • Rachel’s place was a lovely, self-contained garden apartment in a great location, with a very comfortable KS bed and fabulous views. With a car you can easily access Stroud, Gloucester and the Cotswolds, and you are right on the Cotswolds Way for walking. She provides a wonderful array of breakfast foods and fruit, and is generous with her information, conversation and assistance if you need it.

  • It's a small but comfortable flat with an amazing view from the patio, a very nice garden. The area has quite a history. Rachel made us feel welcome and well looked after during our stay. We'll be coming again when we can.
