  • Little corner of paradise on Earth. If you have no qualms about being off the grid, then I cant reccomend a better place to be so. This place is beautiful even when it rains. I just spent a month there and feel like a new person. Stunning natural surrounds, incredible snorkeling area - the reef literally at your doorstep is so alive. Quiet and relaxing place if you want that, or it can be adventurous and exciting as well with great surfing spots nearby. Highly recommend for a couples getaway, or solo trip to rejuvenate the soul away from the world.

  • The bungalow was absolutely stunning. We had such a lovely time there it was the greatest airbnb we have ever been to! The host Ida and her family, Solomon and Lelou were very careful with us, cooked us great fresh seafood etc We saw dolphins and marvelous sea life and corals right at our doorstep! We will definitely come back

  • We spent ten days in paradise and we never forget. So lovely place, lovely island with amazing people. Our accommodation was perfect. Beautiful, clean and we had everything what we needed. There is main house, kitchen with dinning room and toilet. We could also borrow paddleboards or kayak and go around the island. It was amazing! Clear water was perfect for snorkeling and we can only recommend. Thank you :)

  • When you reach this forgotten corner of this forgotten country, you're not on earth anymore...you're in paradise...

  • One of the most beautiful places I‘ve ever been! Very friendly hostfamily, nice food, especially the trip to the national park with turtles was great!

  • This place is genuinely paradise found! Tiara's Aunt Ida looked after us like Kings and queens. The food was delicious, there were plenty of activities and the location's beauty could not be done justice in word form by Shakespeare himself! Here are a few of our highlights A wonderful and warm traditional welcome when we arrived Standing on the deck of the huts and looking down on the the coral reef below provides a view that would be the envy of any world class Aquarium. Amazing colour and hordes of tropical fish. You can happily loose hours just gazing off the balcony. Awesome uncrowded (as in NOBODY else) surf just a 30 minute boat ride away All of Tiara's family that looked after us, feeding us, driving us around in boats, teaching our kids about traditional village life and fetching whatever we needed from the village were just so lovely that we felt like we were loosing friends when we left. If you are looking to leave the world behind and be pampered in the most astoundingly beautiful surrounds then book this place. You won't be sorry.

  • Great little studio apartment, perfect place to stay in Honiara. Quick and cheap taxi ride into the city. Security at the gate so you feel very secure and staff make sure you’re looked after with washing and tidying. Would definitely stay here again on my next trip to the Solomons!

  • Connie’s Place is absolutely fantastic! It’s in a beautiful location away from the hustle and bustle on Honiara. Would recommend and return again and again. She was such a gracious host and gave us so much useful information to help our stay go so smooth. Thanks Connie!

    Neil2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Connie is very thoughtful and helpful. She offered to pick us up at Honiara airport and provided us info we needed for the stay. The location is great with beautiful views of the sea. The place is safe, quiet, clean and nice. The kitchen contains things we need to cook.

  • (English following) The best inn! The rooms are very clean and spacious, with everything you need from kitchen to air conditioning. The view from the inn is wonderful, and the sea can be seen from the hill. The place requires a taxi to the town, but it is around 30 Solomon dollar one way, so it is much cheaper than staying at a high hotel in the town. Grading the same room in town would cost three times more than this. Car rental is also recommended for long stays. It is cheaper than a town hotel even if you rent a car. Finally the host and staff are very kind. They served freshly caught tuna and straw with sashimi and added them to the family, and they treated me like a family. Honiara has no other choice but here! Best accommodation in Guadalcanal. The room is very clean and specious with all necessary equipments including kitchen, air con ,, etc. the view from the accommodation is fabulous and you can see the sea from the hill. Though you need taxi to the city, it costs around 30 Solomon dollars only and the hotels in the city cost much more than this accommodation with taxi fees.I guess if you book the same quality of the rooms in the city, you may pay triple than here.If you stay long you may rent a car from the town.Above all, the owners and the staffs are very friendly and kind. They served fresh yellow tailed tuna and Spanish mackerel as Sashimi and invited us to their family dinner. is here!

  • This place is definitely one to recommend when staying in Honiara. Connie is really kind (picked us up from the airport and helped us with many other things). Also her staff are really kind and the place is great to stay in and clean. Consider that the centre is a little bit to far to walk (especially in the Solomon heat) so you will have to take a taxi.

    Friso2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Connie communicated well with me when I had to change my stay due to unforeseen circumstances. She welcomed me warmly at the Honiara airport and ensured that I was comfortably settled in at the apartment. She offered me to contact her if I needed to, gave me a taxi and travel agent phone number for contact. The travel agent was very helpful and organised two tours. The staff at the apartments were very friendly and helpful too, organising a taxi for my return to the airport. Thank you to Connie for a relaxing and interesting stay at Honiara!!

    Marianne2020-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • Connie picked me up at airport and arranged taxi to send me back to airport. The Vila is very safe on the top of the hill with great view of Solomon sea, if you need some quiet time this is the best selection.

Welcome to Pepele Lodge, a small eco-lodge, run by a local family. Enjoy the breathtaking sunsets and tranquility in our water bungalow or go swimming, kayaking or bush walking. The family can show you around and explain about island life and our heritage and show you the sacrifice stone that our headhunter ancestors left behind. Additional costs: - boat transfer from Seghe 400SBD - 3meals/day 200SBD/person - other activities (snorkelling/fishing trip, crocodile/bird watching, etc..)
This water bungalow was built by Lasa and his family from local wood in the traditional way. Running water, indoor toilet and outside cold shower can be found on the main land, just off the jetty. We use solar energy to power our electronics.
The island is owned and inhabited by locals and the lodge is situated next to Chuchulu, however only our family lives in this bay. Chuchulu is a short walk or boat transfer away.
  • Staying at Lasa’s place was an unforgettable experience. Lasa’s hospitality was outstanding, we were made to feel like a part of the village. We enjoyed snorkelling at Uepi, snorkeling with a manta ray, swimming at various beaches and kayaking across to the islands. We also went on a few local walks and enjoyed the singing at the Chuchulu church service. Lasa’s wife cooked us amazing food for every meal and we were lucky enough to meet Lionel and James who also took us on a few activities. The bungalow is such a romantic setting, my partner proposed to me there to the sound of the kids playing and local reggae! I couldn’t recommend Lasa’s place more for the incredible lagoon setting, hospitality and general good vibes!!

    Leah2020-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic overwater bungalow in a relatively isolated part of Morova Lagoon. There is a nearby fishing village which you can walk or Kayak to, adding cultural interest, and the fish and birdsong are amazing. The open deck is near to water level at high tide, and the phosphorescence in the water on a dark night is something to behold. There are occassional passing crocodiles in that part of Morova bay so it is unwise to swim there, even though Lasa says his children do. If you enjoy a good nightcap there are no alcoholic drinks there, so you must pick up enough for your stay at the shop in Seghe (closed on Sundays). There is a generator there so electrical items can be charged and the fridge used. This is a fairly basic bungalow, but is beautifully located and well laid out. Lasa and his family are very helpful and friendly, and provide boat trips to other parts of the lagoon. One more thing - the food is great. Neville, the chef does a marvellous job with the available ingredients.

    Rob2019-11-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very nice stay in a breathtaking nature. The hospitality is warm and the food is delicious. But: You can not expect a western standard in terms of shower and toilet. And you should have enough cash, because everything costs extra. The additional costs are comparatively high. Airport transfer is no alternative and costs one way 400 SBD, as well as the meals. The information has not fit here for display. Currently: Breakfast 45SBD, Lunch 80 SBD, Dinner 100SBD each per person. Kayak lend 200 SBD. There is still a snorkeling trip on the island Uepi offered, costs 600SBD including lunch

  • Awesome place in a great location. Lasa and his family are really nice and helpful. It's a charming place. Great location, very clean, super good food and awesome hospitality. Lionel, Lasa's nephew, also amazing person. I hope to go back soon and shara again my hollidays with Lasa's family. Thank you Pepele Eco Lodge!!!!

  • This is the perfect place to discover the marovo lagoon. You are welcoming by Lasa and his family in a very cute bungalow with a beautiful view. You can do a lot of activities in the lagoon (kayaking around the islands in clear water, snorkeling with manta ray...) and also with the village’s people (walk to the river, to the village...). Lasa is very helpful and will do everything he can to make your stay perfect. Thanks again Lasa !

  • Our stay at Lasa’s was great. The over water bungalow is very charming and comfortable. All dinners were absolutely delicious, the best of our 5 weeks traveling around the South Pacific islands. It’s important to note that it’s not recommended to swim around the bungalow because sea crocodiles could be around. We saw one, one morning! You can however take a kayak (there are 2 at Lasa’s) and take yourself to a small beach near by. The visit to the village is worth it specially if the kids play some music for you! That was very cool. Also, if you are into diving, do not miss diving at Uepi Point, we have dived all over the world and this site was one of the best we have ever done. Finally, Lasa and his family were very kind, helpful, warm and welcoming. We loved our stay there.

    Natalia2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • I hereby declare Lasa's homemade food the best cuisine in the Pacific. The mud crab in coconut cream was out of this world.

    New Georgia Group, Solomon Islands

Private waterfront house and guest bungalow in cool, tropical rain forest setting. Go native – albeit in modest luxury - in the Solomon Islands. Dine on fresh fish and locally grown organic fruit, vegetables. Includes housekeeper and cook. We can provide 3 meals for additional AUD $25 per guest per day. Detailed information about how to reach us is located further down the page in the section 'The neighbourhood' and 'Getting Around'.
House and guest bungalow in private setting fronting warm tropical lagoon. We particularly encourage people interested in the opportunity to spend time living immersed in the life style, nature and culture of the Western Pacific. The Solomon Islands has very little tourism and remains a relatively undeveloped country. The majority of Solomon Islands subsist daily from their immediate sea and forest resources for their daily needs. If you’re interested in a stay off of the regular tourism routes then Lagoon Haus offers that opportunity. Our house is sited at Isisu Point, near Peava Village on the SE corner of Gatokae Island in Marovo Lagoon in the Solomon’s Western Province. You can look it up on (website hidden) Earth with these coordinates. 8˚ 47.342’ S 158˚ 14.208’ E Please scroll down to the section 'Getting Around' for information about how to get there.
The house is sited just outside of my home village Peava. It’s a small village with a population is about 200 people. People there are self employed and daily tend their gardens which provide the bulk of their food together with fishing. The land and sea are very plentiful so people also have a lot of free time and are very social and always keen for conversation. Like most people in the Solomons, we are spiritual and attend church regularly. Singing is an important part of worship and guests are always very welcome. The neighbouring villages are connecting by walking tracks through garden of forest broken by steams and beaches. Visiting between villages makes for nice bush walks.
  • Family of 5- 2 adults and 3 children 10,12,13 From the moment we made contact with Wendy and throughout our stay Wendy and her family and staff went out of their way to accomodate us. We took Wendy’s advice and flew to Honiara where we caught the mv fairglory to Bunikalo. Wendy’s family kindly arranged our tickets and even met us at the ship to help us board!!! At Bunikalo port we were collected by boat and taken to our accomodation by moonlight where we were greeted by Dell our fabulous house keeper. Dell had lovingly prepared a hot dinner and cake which we devoured before falling into our mozzie net beds listening to the sounds of the jungle. We awoke to hot pancakes and fresh tropical fruit (byo coffee and tea) and Dells smiling face and uninterrupted views of the magnificent bay! The children quickly made friends with the locals and found the freedoms that come with living in a magical place such as Peava village. Long days swimming and paddling in tropical waters and jumping and swinging from the famous Buni tree. Kayaks are available at the house to explore and the bay is perfect for snorkelling or padding with it’s safe coral fringing reef. For those more adventurous you can kayak to other islands or take a boat with Toka (dells husband) for around $400sbd to nearby island for snorkelling or picnics. Bring fishing gear and fish from the kayak! Trevally and Tuna cruise by. Dells meals and hospitality were the real highlight of our trip - we especially loved the fresh coconut fish curry with fern salad and the kids were spoilt with cakes and muffins. Dell openly shared an insight into life in Peava and we treasure the friendships we made during our trip. Bring plenty of cash for boat trips, fishing and purchasing the wonderful carvings from the villagers. Villagers may even trade and treasure solar or clothes even snorkel gear etc... Gifts of clothes and school donations are welcome. Particularly shorts for little boys that they can swim in!!! Remember to cover up as the islanders swim fully clothed and are more conservative than us aussies when it comes to attire. The insects were much better than we had thought and we hardly got bitten by any mozzies! Thank you to Wendy, dell and the villagers at Peava for letting us experience your beautiful island and making us feel so welcome. We all felt so comfortable and had such a relaxing holiday filled with culture and wonderful memorable experiences. We will be back!!!! Highly recommended! (Nb. If your hoping for hot showers and pina coladas this is not the holiday for u.... but if your happy to love the simple life as the islanders do and immerse yourself then you’ll love it!) there’s a small shop with noodles chips and biscuits but not much more Be sure to bring anything u may need!!!!

  • What a holiday where did it go!! We had an amazing family holiday. All our pre holiday questions were answered promptly and efficiently from Wendy and Wade. Wendy's family helped us immensely in Honiara with a small fee to arrange ferry tickets and good money change. ( Not that easy with Kiwi $) We travelled from Honiara to Bunikalo with the MV Anjeanette. Too be fair don't travel on this boat for 10 hours unless you are hardy. Bathrooms are not useable and this boats timetable is unreliable, best to go on the Fair Glory. The time we had as a family on this island was very special. We were royally looked after by managers Delniah and her husband Toka. We quickly integrated into village life and our daughter quickly made serious friends..... nothing superficial like in the western world. Food selection is limited on the island so before you go take your must haves from the Supermarket in Honiara before you go. Being a Seventh Day Adventist island Saturday is the sabbath so you cannot swim or go on boat adventures etc but plenty of walks to do on this day and prepare your own meals with food provided. Accomodation is nice and simple and perfect for this island paradise. The water is on your doorstep and there is plenty to do from snorkeling st the Coral Gardens and Kicha island marine reserve to kayaking and fishing with Toka for Spanish Mackerel; Barracouta; Wahoo; Giant Trevally and Coral Trout. Remember to bring lots of cash for boat trips etc as no bank facilities or use of credit cards. Current fuel prices are high so boat trips cost approx NZ$ 80.00 per 1/2 day. Can buy a Solomons Sim card in Honiara before you go to Peava and Top Up data there. But system is complicated as you have 4 days to use it before it is wiped so they make you buy more. The wildlife on land and sea is incredible, from bats and birds to turtles; fish and coral. Take clothes and snorkeling gear that you don't need and donate them to the people in the village. We highly reccomend everyone to visit Lagoon Haus in Peava.

  • People, nature, village: all wonderful! Thank you

    Marion2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic time at Wendy's place in Peava. A truly enriching experience for us and our young daughter. An idyllic place, right on the edge of a gorgeous lagoon where we have spotted beautiful little fishes at every glance. The house was clean, well appointed, had comfy beds, as well as good spring and rain water.  Delniah was very welcoming from the first moment and took great care of us throughtout our stay, cooking wonderful feasts every day - think of fruits and veggies grown in the village, freshly caught fish, sweet treats. She showed us around the village as well as her garden, told us about customes and traditions, always smiling and a lovely warm presence. She also took us to a magical place known to locals as "the coral garden", where we saw stunning brightly coloured fishes around the healthy coral. The villagers were so friendly, always happy to share their stories and simple yet bountiful living. Also their beautiful wooden carvings.  We felt at home instantly and were blown away by the beauty of the surrounds. We left refreshed, both spiritually and physically. We can't recommend this place highly enough. Wendy was very helpful and prompt in her communications, giving us all details needed to plan our entire holiday, not only our stay in Peava. Thank you so much for sharing your part of paradise with us, Wendy, we are grateful for the entire experience and would love to come back!

    Stefania2019-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for a real authentic village stay, look no further. Definitely opt for the full board option, Delniah will cook amazing g and healthy food breakfast lunch and dinner. You will not be hungry or disappointed. The snorkeling is great and you will totally unwind during your stay. Be sure to get involved in the local community and go and explore the island. This is an experience you will never forget, thankyou to our hosts and to the whole village for making us feel so welcomed.

    Katherine2017-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • A magical week at Wendy's! A beautiful house by the sea, canoes to walk in the lagoon, a few meters from the village where people are extraordinarily kind and hospitable ... happiness assured for our children who spent their week playing with the children of the village in complete freedom! Delnia who made us the meals was perfect and very helpful: a fantastic woman! And Toka took us on his boat to snorkel and see the dolphins on the neighboring island. But we can also dive at the edge of the lagoon and it's just beautiful. If you want to find yourself a little cut off from the world, on an island paradise with really nice people, crossing virtually no tourists, with relatively comfortable living conditions, go for it!

    Cathy2017-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Wendy's place well exceeded our expectations! Amazingly helpful with the booking and helping to arrange transfers (even getting her nephew to help us buy ferry tickets in Honiara and save seats on the ferry!). Stunning location, village, beaches, jungle and snorkling/diving was all amazing. The ladies looking after us at the house were awesome! Heaps of great food (loved the fish curry and the fen!) and were amazing at suggesting and helping set up activities such as jungle walks and diving during the days. Cannot reccomend this place more it is one of the most amazing places we have ever stayed! If your looking at going consider bringing something for the village. When we talked to people these are some of the more specific things they asked for: Wood carving tools- The village relies to some extent on selling its wood carving and these can be hard to come by (aparaently the New Zealand ones are good?) Antibiotics (Ciprofloxacin, amoxicillin, augmentin) Books and sports equipment (we bough a vortex which is a rocket shaped toy that you throw which went down a treat with the kids) Again thank you so much Wendy for the most amazing time! We hope to be back at some stage in the future!

    Andre2017-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • After two months at Lagoon Haus, I cannot recommend it enough. If you like the idea of eating fish for dinner that you caught that same day, while surrounded by fireflies, listening to the sound of waves lapping against the shore and the crunch of hermit crabs crawling across the ground- then this place will be perfect for you. The village of Peava welcomed me so generously. I learned to weave, played lots of netball, and made close friends. However, if you are looking for a secluded getaway, the house sits a few hundred metres from the main part of the village, and is surrounded by forest, so privacy is very easy to achieve. I spent many days just lying in a hammock reading my book without a single interruption. There is no shortage of things to do here. Kayaking to nearby islands, snorkelling, fishing, hiking, playing sports with the locals, visiting nearby villages, even swimming with dolphins. The house is simple, yet has everything that I could have needed. Shower (no hot water, but considering the weather, you would barely notice), a flushing toilet, electricity (the car charger style plugs were fine for charging a phone) and access to internet in the village (which is very slow and not inexpensive, but still functional). Delnia, who looks after most guests, is a wonderful cook, witty, knowledgeable and will find a way to arrange for you to do whatever you have dreamed on on your trip. Before leaving Australia, Wendy was unbelievably helpful, which was invaluable considering the limited information online about traveling in the Solomons. Overall, the most memorable Airbnb stay that I have ever had. Absolutely wonderful.

We are located on the sea front a 20 minute drive from the international airport and a 5 minute drive from town and beaches. We have three comfortable rooms each with a ceiling fan, mini bar, ensuite bathroom. We have a cafe attached to the rooms this is open Wednesday -Sunday. I recommend you dont just stick to the main land please book a trip out to the outer Islands. ON FRIDAY AND SATURDAY EVENINGS IT CAN BE NOISY AS THERE IS A LOCAL CLUB THAT DOESNT CLOSE UNTIL THE MORNING
We have a basic bungalow accommodation available in a natural setting, you can hear the waves at night and enjoy the peace of the seaside. This room is self contained with a oceanview, has a overhead fan NO AIRCON, fridge with complimentary water and tea and coffee making facilities, fresh fruit on arrival. All linen and towels are provided. ON FRIDAY AND SATURDAY EVENINGS IT CAN BE NOISY AS THERE IS A LOCAL CLUB THAT DOESNT CLOSE UNTIL THE MORNING
Our area is uniquely placed on the seaside just out of town, we have a wonderful view of the water, bush tracks that go up behind the house if you like walking, we also have a local market just down the road where you can buy fresh produce.
  • The room is really nice and comes with a fan that helps in the heat, and makes much more enjoyable than aircon. The hosts are extremely helpful and provided many tips and places to go. The Bnb is located next to a small cafe over looking the sea, and the employees are all very nice and can help you in visiting and locating the different places to see in Guadalcanal.

  • We loved listening to the sound of the waves crashing as we went to sleep. The Ofis is a nice escape from the heat, with the rooms being cool enough without air conditioning due to the sea breeze. We used the kitchen out the back to cook our own meals, but enjoyed the amazing pizza at the cafe on Saturday night. We loved watching the local kids play in the water right at our doorstep (we even jumped in to cool down as well). Great location with easy access to town via the many frequent passing buses. Housekeeping were amazing, fixing the room up each day for when we returned and even did a load of laundry for us. A great place to enjoy Honiara and surrounds!

    Leah2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • The bed was incredible, excellent pillows! Cleaning team was great, and the food at the restaurant was too!

    Justin2019-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • Good communication and information sent prior to arrival. Room was simpler than expected, but prices in the Solomons are very high so this is a decent value. There was water cooker with tea and coffee and milk nicely provided on a small fridge. Filtered water provided and refilled in restaurant next door. Room has mosquito net and fan only, which at night is fine as it cools down a lot. No hot water in shower. We had the ocean facing room which means you also hear the kids of dinner guests quite loudly screaming as they play...Friday night was a full house. We didn’t really hear the nightclub which other guests mentioned. Dinner was lovely. We recommend seafood pizza and local ceviche. But the thatched ceiling had lots of leaks and we shifted tables many times to stay dry.

  • Kelly’s place is amazing. It’s a legit getaway amongst the tropical palm trees complete with its own little mini beach and bar/restaurant with delicious food and drinks. Kelly is super responsive and friendly and her staff are super helpful. The room is comfortable and cute. Friday nights can be a little loud due to the club down the road but waking up to the sound of the crashing waves more than makes up for it. We hired a car and drove westward up the coast and the countryside around there is gorgeous. 100% would stay again!

  • Amazing place! Private, secluded and out of city, but center is just a quick van ride. Spectacular views of the ocean. Will definitely love to stay again.

  • Look no further!! 🙂 This is your home in Honiara. Probably the best start you could have before you begin exploring the Solomon Islands. The hosts are kind and thoughtful. The local scenery is beautiful and you’ll have access to lots of valuable information while living in comfort and sleeping well 🙂👍

  • Lo’s place is absolutely perfect. The hospitality, view, and amenities are perfect for your stay in Honiara. It’s perched up on a hill, so if you don’t want to walk a taxi is recommended. Overall - high value!

  • A clean, beautiful, and safe place with a comfortable bed and kind, thoughtful hosts. I love all the flowers and orchids coming down the driveway! Thanks for the laundry facilities as well! Lo & Manuel are outstanding hosts and I highly recommend them & their lovely home!

  • Great place to stay in Honiara with a pleasant hilltop view over-looking the city (with hammock!). Lo was great (friendly and quick to respond), the place was clean and had everything I needed. Only catch is that it's a bit of a walk from town, but it's not bad if you enjoy walking (and the transport up the hill is easy if you're willing to figure it out and it's not too late). I'd highly recommend!

    Carl2019-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed the stay so much. Lo took us to the beach and we had some very delicious dinners together with her husband. We came as guest and left as friends.

  • Lo and Manuel are very nice hosts. The house is clean, the kitchen is well equipped and all can be used for cooking. The city centre is not far away and the connection by public transport is very easy. We had a very pleasant stay, thank you for everything.

  • Everything was amazing. I was made to feel very welcome. The place is large enough to have space to yourself if you're visiting for work but there is also a really nice communal area. Lorenza is also very social and happy to help out with anything you may need.

We are situated 5 minutes out of town on the seaside. We have three rooms available the studio room is the biggest it has a outdoor shower/ensuite and a small kitchen area. There is a shared outdoor kitchen if you would like to cook. This room does not have a sea view you can hear the sea at night it is very close. ON FRIDAY AND SATURDAY EVENINGS IT CAN BE NOISY AS THERE IS A LOCAL CLUB THAT DOESNT CLOSE UNTIL THE MORNING 2 KM AWAY
We are located on the sea side there is a beautiful reef out the front and lots of local children swimming from the neighboring settlement. We have many coconut trees and are very unique for the solomons.
We have a boutique property right on the sea side it is our own little piece of paradise in a busy third world city. You can often see dolphins right out the front. You can kayak directly in front and see the reef and many species of sea life. We do have a settlement near us and a market but the area is very safe.
  • We absolutely loved our stay - from the airport pick up to the community walk with guides, the hired car and driver, to the amazing food and view! Kelly provided quick pre-trip responses and Rupert was exceptional with the guidance and insightful conversations while we were there. We would choose this place again in a heartbeat... And next time will stay longer! Thank you for a wonderful stay!

    Marti2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • I did not have the pleasure to meet Kelly since she was out of the country, but I had the pleasure and privilege to meet her lovely staff! They were so friendly! Everybody went above and beyond to make me feel like home and they kept my room clean, watched over the house at night and showed me how to get around Honiara. White river is out of town and you have to use the bus or a taxi to get anywhere, but the buses run just outside the gate and just ask the staff to help you get a taxi. The small market just around the corner will provide you with a good coconut and some veggies if you don't feel like moving to far. The house is clean but be prepared for a pretty basic standard living, despite the pricing. All housing is expensive in Honiara and you'll have a hard time finding anything cheaper and better than this! It was fun when the café opened again after the Christmas and New years holiday and both locals and expats make there way down for the good pizza and location by the ocean, making it a great place to meet new people from the area. Bring your most adventurous side and come to Honiara for an experience you'll likely never forget!

    Amanda2020-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • Kelly’s place lies directly at the waterfront with a restaurant that serves a variety of tasty, fresh foods on a cozy terrace from Wed-Sun. The room I had was spacious and well equipped, the staff friendly and helpful. The location is nice in the sense that you are on the water, though you wouldn’t really swim there; you will need to catch a bus to the center though, or a taxi after dark, which takes you about 10 mins.

    Nicolas2019-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • I had a great stay at the Ofis, Kelly’s communication is 1st class giving me lots of helpful tips for Honiara, Some much appreciated items were in the fridge upon arrival to get me started, the room is simple but charming and the bed is very comfortable. The views from the cafe are stunning, food is great and the staff are super friendly. I wouldn’t hesitate to book again ,they made to feel so welcome and looked after. Thank you Kelly 5 Star +

  • I had a great stay with Kate, she is the secret recipe in this AirBnB. Kate is the host. She is a Mum and her daughters manage the email communications but Kate, their Mum is your Solomon Host. It gets confusing with all the names. Kate picked me up at the airport. She has such a beautiful warm personality, I instantly connected with her. The accommodation is up a steep hill, but the hill is only an issue if you are in crutches - ;) The room is spacious as is the house. There is a beautiful view and the area is very safe. It is a ? 20 min or so walk from town. Honiara is really just one short street so that is ok. We had some water and electric issues, which were outside of Kate's control. She did everything she could to improvise which was so impressive. The Solomon's operates erratically when it comes to these things so I was really impressed with her. I really felt my experience of the Solomon's was enhanced by having a host like Kate. She is great and leaves out an ample breakfast for the morning. She is skilled in negotiating the much needed taxis if you need to go around the island. She has great local tips. I would stay again and highly recommend.

  • I spend the first few days there before going to other provinces for a while! After returning to Honiara and Katie (Annie's mother who is responsible for the place), it felt like coming home :)

  • Kate and Clare have been such great hosts, very welcoming and friendly. Spoiled me, spent time with me, taking me to various places and helping out with admin things. The house is clean, nicely overlooking the ocean, breakfast is tasty. There's no WiFi and the water might be scarce, but that wasn't a problem for me. It's actually more eco friendly. Overall, had a wonderful time and their place felt like home. Thank you, both, and will miss you!

  • Located on the edge of town, the house is on a hillside at the end of a steep road just off the main road. It has a good view of the coast from the veranda. Annie's mother Kate is an exceptional host, nothing was too much trouble for her. She did the pickup from the airport, drove me to shops when I needed it, arranged taxis, and helped me to organize day trips. The bedroom was spacious with good air conditioning. And breakfast food was available in the fridge separately for each guest. Thoroughly recommended.

  • Amazing place and hospitality! I was picked up at the airport by Kate - the mother of the family, who is a very warm hearted and caring person. Starting from the fresh coconut on arrival and finding the best place for me to change money to delicious breakfast and tips about the country, city, what to do, etc. I was trying to organise a hike to Tenaru waterfalls. If it was not for Kate, I would have not seen it. Getting transport there which is reasonably priced is impossible. Kate spent over 3 hours on the phone trying to find a solution. It was an amazing experience! She even sent one of her friends with me to make sure I felt safe. The house is located on the hill overlooking the beautiful sea and away from pollution of the city. Everything is within walking distance and you get tons of information on arrival on where to go etc. my only regret is not staying longer!!!

  • My stay with Annies family was an absolute highlight of my time travelling in the Southern Hemisphere. I had some initial apprehension visiting a country which was so unlike European and Western countries, but Annies mum Kate helped me by getting me sorted with a Solomon simcard and informing me of Solomon culture too. The house is situated in Tandai, effectivley a suburb in Honiara and at the top of a hill. It is located within Kate's 'wantok' (i.e. tribe or clan/extended family that Kate belongs to) so in terms of an authentic experience, you can't get much more. The house was clean, room comfortable and it was great to relax after work on the balcony with a view over the shore. Local people in the city itself do not have much compared to western counterparts but are incredibly friendly and are eager to get to know you, not once did I feel in danger, in fact the complete opposite and it was such a pleasure to experience friendliness and curiosity among people, which I would go so far to say is unique and like nothing I have ever experienced. Little touches really went a long way and made it a special experience. Breakfast being available in the morning, I was also ill one day but Kate and her sister Claire helped and made me lime juice to help put the illness at bay. I also spent a day with Kates sister Claire at local landmark Tenaru Falls (with Claires brother Isreal driving us too) which was fantastic and would totally recommend doing if you are fit enough and can handle tough terrain! If you are curious and looking to experience authentic Melanesian culture while being as open and sociable as possible, then this is 100% the stay for you and will for sure trump any hotel experience that you can have in Honiara.

  • I booked Annie’s place just expecting accommodation. But what I got was an amazing cultural experience. Annie’s mother was running the place when I was there and was so helpful with information about Honiara and she also provided me with some contacts to help me see around Guadalcanal. The place is clean and has a wonderful view of the ocean and distant islands. If you want privacy and to be left alone the hosts will respect that but if you want to engage in Solomon Island culture the family will assist you in that too. They are the most amazing kind-hearted people you can meet. They found out it had been my birthday and surprised me with a birthday cake. They made my whole trip to Honiara unforgettable. You feel part of the family.

  • Such a sweet homestay! We appreciated being picked up at Honiara airport after a long overseas flight and taken to a comfortable, clean, air-conditioned room overlooking the ocean. The fresh fruit, coffee and bread was a bonus the next morning. We could easily walk down to town and the market. Perfect stay for our first night in the Solomon Islands.

  • Very clean and tidy room. Kate - our host - was a very welcoming and extremely helpful lady. One of the nicest places we have stayed in. Great little breakfast included and Kate assisted us with transport around Honiara and to the airport. Highly recommended - if we head back to Honiara we will be booking here again!

  • Our stay at Annie's was shortened because of flight changes on another airline prior to arrival at Annie's. However, she had a driver and Clare waiting for us at the airport. Clare made certain that we got back to the airport later that night for our next flight. She was very helpful while we were at Annie's. Annie made certain that someone was there to help us. Thanks to all of you.

Dolphin View Beach (DVB) is located about 25.5 km from Honiara or 45 minutes drive from Honiara (Solomon Islands capital). Dolphins swim and play off the beach every day when the weather is fine. The place is in its natural landscape, beautiful and very relaxing. We have the following facilities: a bungalow, shared kitchen, shared modern flush toilet/shower room metres from the bungalow, a stand pipe for wash/shower on the beach and other tables along the beach.
  • Alistair is a great host. Expect to arrive and chill by the water on a seat or by the number of hammocks in the trees. Get up early and see the dolphins swim by and the food is amazing. We spent 3 nights here over Christmas in 2019 and was treated to a very wonderful Christmas lunch island style. Take a small walk to the war museum down the road which was cool. We will be back. Also recommend to bring a book to read or 2. Thank you Alistair and family.

  • Never been to the Solomons before but came to stay at Dolphin View with my dad as he has been here before and said how great it was. It definitely lived up to my expectations. Stunning location that is perfect if you want to kick back and relax in a quiet beach setting. Alistair and his family were super welcoming and friendly and they couldn't do enough for us. They made you feel right at home! The food was amazing and you'd never be left wanting more as the portions were huge! There is a WWII museum nearby and a shipwreck only just off the beach that is easy to snorkel to. Thanks for a great stay, Alex.

  • Would definitely recommend a stay at the dolphin view beach. It is a nice authentic experience where you can allow your self to escape from the busy life of any big cities. Alistair and his family is very welcoming and made us some great dinners. They even arranged for us to have cold beers 🍺 ;) Furthermore, as a dolphin lover, it was fantastic to see the dolphins swimming buy the Beach each morning. Alistair helped out With directions for Vilu War museum and With any transportation that we needed. Thank you for a great visit.

  • I spent a week with Ali and his family. It is a great location right on the beach with a village feel to the area. Ali can help you out with advice and excursions or you can just chill if that’s what you want. Ship wreck just a 150 m off the beach which you can snorkel. Ali would often come over with a coconut or pawpaw and the meals are superb. The accommodation is basic but spotless and for the price you cannot get better.

  • Best view in Honiara. From the living room and balcony we could see right across to Gela and Isabel in the distance. We felt very much at home at Ridgeback. Comfortable and clean with cooling aircon for the hot afternoons. Our 1 year old daughter liked to say hello to the 'puppies' that greeted us on our way in and out each day. Connie is a great host and her staff are friendly and helpful. We'll be back!

  • Easily the best value in Honiara. Many thanks to Connie and crew!

    Christoph2019-12-10T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic accommodation! Sparkling clean, comfy beds, gorgeous views, modern facilities, friendly staff and perfect location close to the town centre. Connie is a super host who's extremely personable and taking care of guests is her top priority. Terrific service from her team with the added bonus of 24hr onsite security and the 2 resident Rhodesian Ridgeback girls are absolutely gorgeous. We will be highly recommending this property to anyone requiring short or long term accommodation. Five stars!

  • I stayed a total of 10 nights at Connie's place, all were amazing. I'm glad to have found an alternative to staying at resorts and rest houses in and around Honiara as most proved to be overly expensive, crowded, noisy and often unsanitary. This place offers 5 comfortable private well built units, all offering epic panoramic views of local neighborhoods, flowering trees, Iron Bottom Sound & mysterious outlying islands. There was an amazing shared terrace patio with lounge chairs, hammock, BBQ and playground for kiddos. Each house offers all amenities from home; cozy private veranda, kitchen supplies, bathroom fixtures, secure doorways, air conditioning and functioning windows, with privacy curtains & quality insect screening. All house furnishings, even my bed, pillows and towels we're of suprisingly high quality. The sewer/water system and power supply never failed and the wifi hotspot I brought always had a strong signal. My budget benefited from making meals at 'home' and hiring a cheap taxi or bus to shop from west Honiara town, only 5 to 10 minutes away. Connie's curtious custodial staff offered laundry service or tidied up often and the gate keepers made friendly wellness checks daily! I noticed that they even washed/vacuumed guest vehicles in the parking lot! All in all I enjoyed a wonderful stay and would highly recommend the clean spacious place to anyone, especially business travelers, families in transit and conference groups. I understand the property is a new listing to VRBO, so won't be surprised to see it filling up fast. Thanks again Connie and your staff, for such thoughtful service and clear reliable communication during my stay. Safe travels - lukim iufala evriwan anitaem moa!

  • Very nice and clean. a bit far from town but that is how we wanted it. room and amenities were as described. zima and team were very helpful and accomodating. would definitely choose them again next time i visit.

  • Clean room at outstanding price! Communication with Zima was quick and easy. Although Zima wasn't able to personally greet us, the lovely Ellice made the check-in experience warm and welcoming. The room was exactly as advertised: clean and fully furnished. One small touch that stands out as a personal highlight was the starter pack of food and drinks available in the room. It saved us having to eat out or buy anything. The addition really was the cherry on top for one of my best Airbnb experiences.

  • Very clean and quiet. Better than most hotel.
