  • Great location, beautiful log cabin and wonderful woods just outside the doors of the cabin. The hot tub was brilliant too. Thoroughly enjoyable stay, thank you.

  • We Stayed in Woodpecker Lodge and have had a fantastic stay. Keith and Serena are lovely hostswith lots of local information. The lodge was perfect....there is a Woodpecker which you can hear and you may be lucky to see the Deer if you wander the pathways. There is an onsite store and a nearby Superstore for all needs. The hot tub sets it all off, it was ready for use when we got there and is great to get in at night with some Bubbly.

  • Well what can I say about woodpecker lodge? Absolutely amazing! We wanted a quiet and relaxing weekend to de stress and this log cabin was exactly the perfect place! The cabin was stylish and comfy. The kitchen well equipped for all needs and the log burner was amazing on the cold nights. We loved the hot tub with multi function and lights and even enjoyed it during stormy weather with torrential rain which made it even more special! Keith and his wife were awesome hosts and totally went above and beyond for us when we had a flat tyre! These guys are truly awesome and we will be recommending this place to our friends and family!

  • We had the best time at Woodpecker Lodge! The location is beautiful, private and so peaceful. The hot tub (an absolute favourite) and the wood burner made our stay extra special. Our great hosts responded quickly and couldn’t do enough to help. As a group we would absolutely recommend Woodpecker Lodge and we fully intend on returning for a longer stay in the future! :)

  • Beautiful log cabin set among the forest. Best thing about it was sitting in the hot tub with the star spattered sky above you, listening to the sounds of the wild like an owl and its chicks. You don’t get to hear or see much of that in the city! The cabin was spotless, the log burner a cosy touch and the kitchen was well stocked with every utensil, pan etc. you could possibly need. Perfect little break away and I would recommend to anyone!

  • Woodpecker Lodge is perfect! It’s clean and has everything you could possibly need. It’s in a secluded location and therefore you have your privacy. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

  • Really cosy and romantic cabin with plenty of space. We stayed in woodpecker lodge with a hot tub for three nights. For our first night we only had one neighbour but thankfully the hot tub is mostly covered by a wooden screen - the hot tub next door was the other side of some bushes and we could hear the others but it didn’t disturb us. Access to the hot tub was a little chilly as you can’t go from the cabin door down the steps to it, there’s a wooden ramp before hand but once you’re in the tub it’s lovely. The shop was shut when we went to visit for more drinks or kindling (you get enough for 1 fire) but we sent a message and they opened up quickly for us. We were given detailed maps and some recommendations of where to go and what to see. We did the pooh sticks walk which was about 3 miles in total and had some nice views. The amenities were clean but the crockery and cutlery was all poorly washed so we had to clean things as we used them - that’s most likely the fault of previous occupants though and not necessarily the hosts. All in all a positive experience, it was a relaxing, charming atmosphere and comfortable.

  • I would highly recommend this beautiful place. So relaxing and cosy. Staff are very helpful and friendly with giving tips on what to do locally. I would love to come back again.

  • An idyllic location with everything you could ask for. Callum went above and beyond to ensure we felt welcomed into this beautifully converted container. My girlfriend and I look forward to returning!

  • I would recommend this accommodation highly. We had a lovely 2 night stay. The container is thoughtfully laid out with everything you need. It’s in a beautiful setting hidden away! Just perfect in every way. Also a bonus we could bring the dog.

    Lindsey2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place for a weekend escape ! This container is super cosy and located in a quiet and peaceful area - I had everything we needed! Definitely would stay again.

    Lisa2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Booked this as a Christmas present for my boyfriend, to have a relaxed escape during the beginning of the year. We had an amazing time, the location and container itself was beautiful and every detail inside was carefully thought of. Seems small from the outside but inside it feels open and spacious. Callum was extremely helpful and answered any queries quickly and efficiently. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a tranquil escape in the countryside.

    Jess2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Although not a huge space, this accommodation was so comfortable and relaxing for our two day stay. Despite horrific rain and stormy weather, we had a wonderful time. The beds were so comfortable and the decor so modern and tasteful, really making the most of space. We thoroughly enjoyed waking up to see a beautiful deer on the field in front of us and can highly recommend the nearby Red Lion pub in Broadclyst too for great food and a warm welcome. This was in a beautiful, peaceful and rural setting close to the cool city of Exeter. A lovely half term break.

    anthony2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • The container exceed our expectations, it is designed in such a way that you could easily live there with high spec mod cons and extras such as Wifi and a TV (which was great for us as it rained all weekend) The container was spotless, it was hard to believe there had been other guests before us. Location was stunning with views over the hills and super quiet, we didn’t see a soul all weekend other than a couple of pheasants. Check in was easy and whilst we didn’t see the host the comms was good and they were available if needed. We would highly recommended and will absolutely return.

A rustic stargazer where you can fall asleep watching the stars and wake up to the sound of birdsong! A rural spot, far from street lighting, the sky lights up on clear nights. Simple, basic, but unusual accommodation. This is a wooden A-frame structure with enough room for two to sleep in with a mainly glass roof.
Where else can you stay in a stargazer?! Our large Devon stone house in a quiet valley on the edge of the pretty village of Holcombe Rogus, surrounded by countryside. The house is half a mile from the village, which has a small shop, a garage and a pub. The Prince of Wales pub does pub food as does the Staple Cross Inn which is about 3 miles away. (food not available every day) Both Dartmoor and Exmoor, and the north and south Devon coasts, are about an hour away, and there are plenty of pretty walks close by, including the Great Western Canal. The cathedral city of Exeter is 40 minutes away, and the market town of Taunton 30 minutes. Nearby Wellington and Tiverton have a range of shops and supermarkets. There is quick and easy access to the M5 at both junctions 26 and 27, and is a 15 minute drive from Tiverton Parkway Train station. We also have available a single room. Please see separate listing.
  • Neat star gazing opportunity in a warm and relaxing way. Lovely quiet place.

    Lauren2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Simply amazing with lovely hospitality. Couldn’t have found a better place to stay surrounded by beautiful nature. Thank you again Tess and Richard!!!

    Charlotte2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • COSY, FUN AND QUIRKY! My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our night in the little stargazing hut! Tess and Richard were kind and friendly hosts, and made us feel very welcome. We had the use of a private bathroom during our stay, with a lovely hot and powerful shower, and the conservatory to keep our bags in. Tess and Richard very kindly allowed us to bring our Thermomix, so we spent the Saturday evening sharing their kitchen, as we cooked a Mushroom Risotto, and enjoying a chat with them. So much nicer than going to a restaurant! In view of our dietary preferences, we used our Thermomix on the Sunday morning, too, to make a green juice and smoothie. Richard also made us a loaf of homemade malted bread, which was lovely. Cereals and preserves were also on offer. The stargazing hut itself was very cosy, and there were plenty of duvets to keep us warm. A fun way to sleep under the stars, and a very enjoyable experience all round!

    Karen2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay with Tess and Richard who were wonderful hosts and made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. The hut was great and we could see so many stars and ended up downloading a stargazing app so we could tell where the constellations were, just beware of a few small friends if you’re frightened of bugs/spiders but they kept to themselves. Would highly recommend for a few night to just chill out and spend some quality time away from busy day-to-day life.

    Rachel2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Tess and Richard were very welcoming and relaxed. The star gazer was very cosy and a lovely space to stay. I would thoroughly recommend a night there!

    Lydia2019-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • We very much enjoyed our stay at Tess's and Richard's place as well as their warm hospitality.

    David2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Exactly what it said- lovely star gazing hut with cozy vibe. Intentionally basic to not distract from nature & starry nights. We had a lovely weekend

    Luis2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Tess & Richard are fabulous hosts, really helpful with tips on where to eat etc during our stay. The hut is lovely and cosy - plenty warm enough with the extra duvets we were given. Lovely breakfast too, and really useful to have use of the conservatory for storing belongings, and enjoying the evenings. Overall a fab trip, and was really happy to meet such lovely hosts!

  • Charlie’s place was really great. Myself and three friends stayed for a weekend and there was nothing to complain about. Swimming pool was amazing to have so close by. The house was warm and everything was as advertised.

  • Really nice cottage in a nice area. As we expected the cottage has a lot of character, everything inside is a bit old, didn’t mind that but unfortunately it wasn’t very clean. Usually when is an old place it needs a bit of extra care when comet about cleaning.Otherwise we had a lovely time.

  • Fiona was a fab host. Not only with easy and communication and responses but going above and beyond to help you achieve exactly what you’d like from your stay. She’s a lovely lady, leaving special and thoughtful touches and makes you feel at ease and comfortable. My guests and I had an amazing time celebrating my 30th birthday at The Long Barn. The accommodation was such a luxury treat for us all and the chef recommended by Fiona was amazing and accommodating to a surprise guest for our meal too. The food was incredible! Thank you for making my celebrations and stay so unforgettable. I would be happy to recommend and even return to your lovely place again. Thank you Fiona and Spencer!

    Lizzie2018-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • I booked this place for my 30th birthday and there were 14 of us staying. Fiona and Spencer were great hosts. I couldn’t have asked for a better place to celebrate my 30th, the house is spacious and beautifully maintained, equipped with everything you could possibly need. Luckily the weather was in our favour so we were able to enjoy the large outdoor space and have a bbq. Thank you for an amazing stay and I cannot wait to come back and visit again!

    Martyna2018-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic place for a family weekend - loved all the lovely touches including the dressing up box

    Diane2018-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • This was without a doubt the perfect setting for my sisters hen weekend, I had high expectations after seeing other reviews, looking at pictures and doing my research and I was still blown away by how beautiful the property was. The downstairs space is perfectly set-up for entertaining whatever the size of your party, with the large kitchen and huge living area. The bedrooms were all beautiful and Fiona had arranged the rooms into enough beds to ensure no one had to share (not that we would have minded, but made things a lot easier). The garden and hot-tub topped everything off, it was the feature of our weekend for hen games and relaxing! We had a drop-off Spanish themed meal arranged and I really wasn’t sure how my decision would pan out in terms of keeping the food stored until we were ready to it, but the Chef arrived with everything cooked and cooled, perfectly packaged and instructions for re-heating, it was all so simple and meant we were able to have our meal at the time that suited our party once things were in full swing. The variety, amount and most importantly taste of everything was amazing!! Fiona was a wonderful communicator in the lead up to my event and really made me feel at ease and in control, nothing was too much trouble for her and whilst onsite both her and Spencer were a call, text or walk away from helping with anything we needed - amazing people with real knowledge of the area and contacts to make your arrangements come to life and your weekend as special as you hoped. Cannot recommend this place enough - it’s perfection!

This luxury, spacious garden studio is hidden away in a private, leafy and secluded walled garden, screened off by beautiful trees and shrubs. It is in a friendly, quiet suburb of the city, just 2/3 mins walk from the nearest train station, bus stop, shop, cafe and takeaway, and about 1.5 miles from the city centre. An ideal base for a city break, or from which to explore the beautiful Devon coastline (25 mins drive to Exmouth and the famous Jurassic Coast) or the spectacular wilds of Dartmoor.
Accessed via a garden gate at the end of the driveway, the studio enjoys its own lawn, patio area (with chairs and table available) and two fixings under the flyover roof for suspending a hanging chair (also provided). The large bi-fold doors glide across to open up almost the entire frontage to the private garden if desired. The beautiful wooden floor in the main room enjoys underfloor heating, and a stunning log burner sits on a brick plinth at one end. In the bathroom are a shower, sink, mirror, toilet, and heated towel rail.
Two nearby parks (Hamlin Road Playing Fields, 2 minutes walk away, and the beautiful Heavitree Park, about 8 minutes walk away). Eating out within walking distance: 1 cafe and 2 takeaways (Chinese, Fish & Chips) all near Polsloe Bridge train station (2 minutes walk).

  • A perfect little bolt-hole, super handy for the M5 and within reach of central Exeter. The log burner is an amazing touch, and there's a cute little bathroom and underfloor heating too. Finished to a lovely standard, and you can just pull the curtains, drink wine, and hide from the world. Thanks!

We enjoy welcoming guests to our relaxed bohemian family home. You are welcome to use any of our communal areas including the Kitchen. This single room is small but cosy with a comfortable single bed, with a mattress bought recently. I offer a range of delicious breakfast options and I have extensive experience cooking vegan and vegetarian, gluten, dairy free, paleo food. There are building works being carried out next door but the developer is very considerate. We have a friendly cat.
Our cottage is situated at the back of the high street and on the whole is very quiet, at the same time offering the convenience of being near the train station and town amenities.
Honiton is a bustling town with lots of amenities from independent shops to High Street retailers. There are some good places to eat, and if you're feeling adventurous and willing to go further afield there are some astonishingly good places to eat (The Pig, The Jack in the Green, River Cottage Canteen). There is a train station with direct Waterloo.

  • Had a delightful stay here with my brother whilst on a blacksmithing course in nearby Dunkeswell. It’s a very peaceful lovely spot. Was great to find something reasonably priced that allowed us to spend time together, but have our own space and separate bedrooms. Communication was good and check in very simple. All round , would highly recommend.

  • Really nice, very clean. Christian was very helpful. We are no fisherman but as it seems this is a great place for fishing. If you look for a place for enjoying nature, walking or other outdoor activities, this is where you should go.

  • Great setting in the Blackdown Hills. All the amenities you'd require to keep yourself self-sufficient during your stay. • Katie’s cottage is perfect for a couple or small family. It’s location is ideal for the beach and high street and yet was very quiet at night when we stayed in March. There’s so much to do in and around Budleigh, especially if you like country and coastal walks, and nearby Sidmouth and Exmouth are definitely worth a visit. The cottage is well equipped, very clean and close to restaurants and a great fish and chip shop a couple of doors away! Overall, a great stay and Katie was a very friendly and informative host. Many thanks!

    Pete2020-03-09T00:00:00Z

Perfect rural location for an 'away from it all' holiday. Swallows cabin has stunning views and is very private, with it's own enclosed garden bordering fields in which our horses graze. Ideal couples hideaway with use of heated pool (1st May to end Sept) shared with a small number of other guests, tennis court, croquet lawn and games room. Well behaved dogs are welcome and there are lovely walks all around. There is a small charge of £20 per pet, payable when you arrive.
The cabin is very well equipped and there will be a welcome pack of basic food, household and toiletry items left for your arrival. There is an electric 'log burner' in the living area and two other electric heaters, making it very cosy and well insulated during the cooler months. A side store houses the washing machine, airer and refuse and re-cycling. Free Wifi
The Coly Valley is such a special area and with so much to see and do! Colyton is a delightful small historic town and a Tramway runs from here along the Axe River through the Seaton Wildlife reserve and down to the coast. The East Devon way is accessible about quarter of a mile away and takes you through fields, along the Coly River and into Colyton and beyond.
  • Spent 4 nights at this cozy lodge as we were down for the Grizzly. Gordon showed us round and left us to it for our stay, which is just how we like it. We arrived to the fridge stocked with the essentials, which was very much appreciated. Very secluded Lodge with beautiful views and only a short drive to the beach. Thankyou for having us!

  • Such a peaceful cabin tucked away in a beautiful location with all you could need for a relaxing stay. Great hosts and would definitely return.

    Richard2019-12-07T00:00:00Z
  • Really beautiful scenery! Great hosts and a fantastic Air BnB. We visited on a very cold week and the cabin was able to warm up hot enough for us. Was very quite. It’s really easy to get to loads of fantastic places like Lyne Regis, Beer, Sidmouth and Seaton. Absolutely worth visiting, we would definitely go again. This wasn’t a problem for us, but it’s worth knowing that the Wi-fi was very slow and we had no signal on our phones. Could be a problem for some people. Wasn’t a problem for us!

    Charlotte2019-11-15T00:00:00Z
  • Swallows cabin is very cute and cosy with great views and peacefulness to wake up to. You have everything in the cabin that you'll need and lots of information of lacal areas to visit. We had a lovely stay even when the weather wasn't so great, but when the sun is shinning bright in the morning you can fully take in the scenery.

    Jennie2019-10-28T00:00:00Z

    Daniel2020-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • Karen’s cottage was beautiful, the location is superb, the views are just beautiful & so peaceful. It’s ten minutes from the local town, so get any groceries before arrival. Communication with Karen & her husband was great & they dealt with our enquires really quickly. The only down point was the wifi, we were unable to connect at any point during the week. The router is in the recreation room, the cottage does not have a router of its own or a booster which would have helped. The outside light we were told was shorting out & we were unable to use it, my partner walks with a cane & this made it dangerous at night to find the step into the cottage & made it difficult to find the lock & get into the cottage.

10 minutes from the M5 and an easy drive to both North and South Devon coasts (30-45 mins) The Shed is a set in a secluded part of our garden with beautiful views across the fields and a view of the Culmstock Beacon. It is separate from the house with an en suite shower and toilet, a small kitchen area with fridge-freezer and a patio for your exclusive use. It has underfloor heating. Perfect for couples but a double pull out bed can be provided for children. It has TV and WIFi.
The Shed is a new build that offers peace and quiet in a beautiful setting. Tea and coffee are provided along with basic cooking equipment. Breakfast is not provided but, at your request, we can supply basics such as fresh bread, marmalade, butter and locally sourced eggs for your arrival. If you don’t feel like getting your own breakfast there is an excellent café/deli 3 minutes walk away that does a very satisfying breakfast. Also excellent for lunch! The local riverside pub is a short 5 minutes’ walk through the village and serves very good food both at lunch time and in the evenings. There are plenty of great walks, or just simple strolls along the river. For cyclists, this is an idyllic location. For example, Beer, on the Jurassic Coast is a 50 mile round trip – also Exmoor and Dartmoor are on the radar for enthusiastic cyclists. There are many shorter round trips to be enjoyed for those who do not want to go so far. Both my husband and I are keen cyclists and would be able to give help and advice on the best local rides. BIkes can be securely housed during your stay. Or simply come and relax, breath in the Devon air and enjoy the peace and quiet of the gorgeous countryside.
  • Moyra was so patience with our later than expected arrival. It was so lovely to be greeted by her and her friendly dog at that time. The shed is so welcoming and comfy we felt right at home as soon as we walked in. Well kitted out kitchen, lovely hot water and really helpful leaflets etc to hand. We had a super meal at The Culm Valley Inn which is a 5-minute walk and spent a day at Longdog Smithys learning how to forge steel - a super few days and will be back, thank you so much.

A large single room airy and light. Small double bed. The room is in a Victorian Terraced house. It is part of my family home. The house is within walking distance to the City and all local amenities. The University is close by, we have had predominantly students, who either walk or cycle. It is residents parking from November 2019. There is some free overnight parking nearby. There is cereal and toast available in the kitchen for breakfast on a help yourself basis, storage for other food.
You share other amenities as part of our small welcoming family, that's myself and my daughter. If I don't have what you need I will do my best to get it!
We are on the Bus and Train route to the City, but its only a 10 minute walk. The local area has some Pubs and small corner shops. A supermarket is only 15 minutes away in any direction.

Grooms Cottage is in Churchinford, a small village in the heart of the beautiful Blackdown Hills (ANOB). Churchinford has a great pub 5 minutes walk away, it's busy and does good and reasonably priced food and real ales. There's a community shop/coffee shop/book swap. It's a very good area for walking and the cycling is challenging if you come off the ridge roads. It's about a 40 minute drive from the south coast and Exeter and 10 miles from Wellington, Taunton, Chard and Honiton.
I have two available bedrooms, bedroom 1 is triple aspect, large, airy and light. Bedroom 2 is small, just enough space for a double bed and a chest of drawers, suit children? I would only book bedroom 2 for family or close friends of the occupants of bedroom 1. The bathroom is modern and it will be all yours in the mornings and evenings, but I might use it in the middle of the day with your permission. My art studio is also upstairs so I could be working up there during the day. You are very welcome to use the sitting room with it's log burner and TV and sit in the porch and my yard. It will be a help yourself breakfast as the kitchen is very small - I will provide bread, cereals, muesli, yoghurt and fruit, herbal or builder's tea and coffee, and you're welcome to help yourself to tea and coffee whenever you like.
Churchinford is a small, friendly and very rural. Apart from the village shop and the pub, the village hall hosts monthly markets and films and as well as the usual yoga, palates and gardening clubs there are often theatrical events. It's very 'the archers'.
  • Lovely cottage in rural village. Friendly host. Given large room upstairs with extra bed for our son. Tea and coffee making facilities. Comfy bed. Clean room and bathroom. Excellent location for us as we were attending a party in the village. Loads of parking on the street. Offered breakfast in the morning too, but we had to get back to North Wales. Would definitely recommend.

  • We had fantastic night and was very well looked after by Jane. We only stayed one night but managed to get to the local pub which was great. We will definitely stay here again in the future.

  • Jane and her home are lovely. Good fast communication which was great as we were a late booking for 4. Great breakfast provided. Thanks Jane. 😀

    Liz2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Jane made me and my children feel very welcome and was very hospitable. The cottage is beautifully presented; the nearby pub-restaurant that she recommended was also perfect. The kids loved her cats. We were very comfortable and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

    Tom2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • A welcome addition to Air BnB places to stay. Jane is wonderful, as is her lovely little cottage. Whoever stays there will not regret it. The cats are amazing and friendly, my kids were captivated. Actually, we all were. Jane greeted us on arrival, then gave us a little time to settle in. We cooked dinner while she popped out to the pub. Then we spent a rather pleasant evening sitting and nattering in front of the fire. Jane is an artist and it shows in her decor. The lounge is lovely, the kitchen is a classic cottage kitchen and the the bedrooms were extremely clean and tidy, as was the rest of the house. Myself, Jane and my kids went for a local walk in the morning to feed the chickens who provided our breakfast and take in some fresh air and nature. All I must say is that my wife pointed out that we felt so relaxed (Jane made us feel relaxed), that it felt like we were visiting friends or family, not a stranger. Five star experience for sure. This cosy, spacious apartment forms part of The Old Butchers - a large property home to an arts and crafts studio. We are located in the heart of Uffculme, a pretty village with two pubs, a café, fish and chips bar and two local shops. The area is great for dog walking, hiking, fishing and cycling with the river Culm close by. Uffculme is close to junction 27 and mid distance between Exeter and Taunton with a nearby rail link at Tiverton Parkway.
The flat at The Old Butchers is a self-contained annexe with an entrance via the craft studio at the front of the property. Don’t feel shy about looking around the studio! You’re welcome to use the extra space for colouring or other crafty pastimes!
Our village has a square with a cafe and a Co-op where everyone parks! The centre features little cottages that meander through narrow roads, past a medieval church and down to the river Culm. An old working wool museum named Coldharbour Mill is just a short walk from the property down an old mineral line.
  • A lovely flat in a cozy little village. Super charming and amazing value for money! Perfect if you want a little weekend break with some beautiful walks nearby - highly recommend!

  • This quirky little flat was just gorgeous and exactly as the pictures. We loved the eclectic artwork and there wasn't a speck of dust to be seen - absolutely spotless! The bed was very comfortable and the nights were quiet. Lisa had left us lots and lots of breakfast goodies and was a delightful host. Her craft workshop below the flat was full of interesting bits and pieces which she said we could use. We had a very nice meal at The Halfway House at Willand - about 5 mins drive away.

    David2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • The flat is a beautiful well thought out space cosy and comforting, as in the way it's furnished. It is a good size and has everything you need for a nice relaxing stay. Lisa kindly supplied some food basics which is a very thoughtful and much appreciated touch. Lisa is a fantastic host very friendly and welcoming and its such a treat to be able to look at all the lovely art work as you pass through the studio. I'd highly recommend this place for a little get away or if you are needing to stop by the area. Local shop just a minute walk, cafe and chip shop also pub. So a great little location. I hope to be back again one day soon.

  • The apartment is really homely, extremely clean and very comfortable - it has everything you could possibly need for a weekend trip! We went for dinner the first night at the Ashill inn and it was delicious food, would definitely recommend. The accommodation does offer exceptional value for money and if you’re looking in this area I can’t imagine there’s a much better choice!

  • Lisa’s place is utterly charming. A gem, Sparklingly clean. Stylish eclectic and vintage decorative pieces, all combine to create cosy space with everything you need for a comfy stay. We stayed one night and it was absolutely perfect. Delicious sup at nearby Ashill Inn - smoked haddock scotch egg with curried mayonnaise so yummy. So lovely to have milk in fridge teabags and breakfast things Thankyou Lisa

  • We had a 4 night break here, with 5 boys (aged 8 -12) it was beautiful house, with stunning views. Despite storm Dennis, we enjoyed the hot tub every day. There are so many outdoor and indoor activities that the boys were fully entertained and we had little need to go anywhere else. The kitchen is beautifully equipped, wanting for nothing during the stay. Highly recommend holiday. The icing on the cake was a beautifully made Victoria sponge on arrival 😀 thank you Cath

    Timothy2018-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • I was in Gill’s house to work in Hinkley Point C and Gill’s house is very well located in Taunton: Near the town centre, near the bus to HPC (5min walking), near the supermarket, and in a very quiet and lovelly place just next to a parc and the river. Moreover, Gill and her husband are very very kind and always ready to speak or help you ! So, I hardly recommend this accomodation !

The cottage has a lovely feel, with wood burner and Aga. Rural, but easy access from the M5, and parking for two cars. Fabulous place to use as a base for good walking & exploring the South West. A car is necessary & a desire to be off the beaten track, although good food & beers a 10-15 min walk to the village. Large rooms, comfortable furnishings, quality linens. Fully self contained with central heating and everything that you would need to make an enjoyable break.
A quiet cottage attached to Walders Court, a grade II listed property dating from the 1600's. Used as the setting for the novelist R.D. Blackmore's novel, Perlycross, he being more famous as the author of Loorna Doone. Private and tucked away with your own entrance. Ideal for those needing a stopover, easy access from M5, J26 or J27, or those seeking a base to explore. Excellent walking, and a short 45-60 minute drive to Exmoor and Dartmoor. Entrance is via a flag path that leads from the parking area to the front stable door of the Cottage. The front door leads directly into the kitchen/dining area. This is a spacious room, equiped with an Aga for cooking and warmth, (separate heating system on thermostat to ensure the cottage stays warm) dishwasher, and washing machine, plenty of cupboard storage and a small fridge freezer. A kitchen table, large enough to seat six completes the area. An open staircase leads from the kitchen to the upstairs bedroom. The bedroom overlooks the entrance courtyard and the entrance gate. Furnished simply, with a 5' bed, comfortable mattress & quality linens. En-suite bathroom, with bath, washbasin and toilet. Returning to the kitchen. From the kitchen, three shallow steps lead you into a small open plan cloakroom area, with storage for coats and shoes. Access to the ground floor shower room and toilet is located here. The cloakroom leads to the living area. The living area is a light and airy space, with a small woodburning stove. It is furnished with a two seater settee, and a two seater pull out bed settee. Television and wifi access available in the living area. Please note - we are a rural community with slow broadband speeds. If you wish to stream movies, the broadband often fails. It is reliable for emails and other applications that need less speed. Outside, access from the front door is the small side garden. This is for your sole use while you are at the cottage. The garden is surrounded by a shrub hedge, beyond which is a country lane. As the season progresses the garden becomes more private and secluded as the shrubs become leafy. During the winter the garden is more exposed due to the nature of this hedge. BBQ and fire pit available for your use. Points to note. The ground floor living room can be easily used as a bedroom, with the shower room close by. The lounge opens from the cloakroom area, and although there are no doors, because of the dogleg style, there is privacy if it is to be used as a sleeping area. The main bedroom is accessed from the open plan stairs that lead from the kitchen, so any noise from the kitchen will be easily heard from the bedroom. Some windows, overlook the courtyard of the main house. These will not affect the privacy of the Cottage, as you cannot see into the Cottage from the courtyard. Finally, for those very tall, (over 6ft) the shower is fairly compact due to restricted ceiling height - feedback from guests are that the shower area is more than adequate for tall persons!
We live at the foot of the Blackdown Hills in Devon. We sit underneath The Beacon, a short 10-15 minute hike up the hill to a fabulous 400 year old ancient monument used to call all good men and true, to arms, to ward off the Spanish invasion. The Blackdowns are one of the Westcountry's hidden gems, forming a tranquil, beautiful, and relatively isolated landscape on the Devon and Somerset border. Steep ridges, high plateau, valleys and springs create a charming mosaic of countryside dotted with farms, villages and ancient features. We are a 15-20 minute walk from our local village, where you can find The Culm Valley Inn, renowned for it's locally sourced food, real ales and lively atmosphere, a true village pub. Crossing the ancient packhorse bridge will bring you along to the Strand Stores, great for a good cup of tea and slice of cake, all home made, with lots of goodies to take away. We are equal distance between the North and South Devon Coastline. An hours journey can take you to the delights of these shores, into the moors of Dartmoor and Exmoor. Slightly further afield is the Eden project, but very accessible as a day trip. If you are a National Trust member, we have several properties on our doorstep for you to explore. Full details of what you can find are in our 'Welcome Pack & Information' on arrival

  • A great place for a peaceful and relaxing weekend break. This is a lovely cottage - very welcoming and comfortable - in a good location. Rosie was very accommodating and friendly.

    Jacki2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Rosie's cottage - it's the perfect mix of being off the beaten track but also with good amenities nearby (pub and shop/deli within walking distance, as well as other pubs, shops and points of interest a drive away). We visited Exmouth which is a 30 minute drive away, and would recommend a walk up to Culmstock beacon and also to the Tarr Steps in Exmoor. The cottage was cosy, clean and kitchen well equipped. Thanks Rosie!

This beautiful room is a part of our new house. Everything is brand new, stylish, comfortable and very clean. Cranbrook itself is a new town situated in the outskirts of Exeter city, with a very quick access to M5 and A30. Our place is close to Exeter Airport , but very quiet. Rugby stadium, Sowton , West Point and Crealy Park are not far from here. Parking on the street is always available. Taxi to the airport is about £10-12.
Our place is just a couple of minutes away from M5 and A30.

  • A wonderful and helpful host. Exceptionally tidy and clean home. The room is spacious with a tv and kettle in the room. Highly recommended booking as it is an excellent stay. It is also very close to the airport and a bus service into the city is about 10 mins walk. As this is a new build, use google maps if your satnav isn't up to date.

    Andrew2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Sharon is lovely. I was a lot later arriving than I planned and she was very understanding. She went to great lengths to show me round and make me feel at home. The house is spacious and beautifully done out. I had three early starts and she gave me a little extra heat in my room. I also had a back problem and she lent me a hot water bottle. Would definitely stay again and recommend. I was really surprised at how quiet the road is despite it being in Taunton town. Parking was easy. I just bought a permit from her.
