Self-contained and self-catering en-suite apartment with separate entrance (from main house), located in Didsbury, Manchester's suburb.
This en-suite apartment consists of one room and bathroom. In the room there is a large double bed (real, sprung mattress) on one side and a small kitchen on the other. There is a double wardrobe, a table and chair, and an armchair. In the bathroom there is a shower (but no bathtub). We provide towels, basic toiletries and a hairdryer, so you don't need to bring yours. The kitchen has a small fridge with a freezer, a microwave-oven, 2 hotplates, toaster, electric kettle so you can cook small meals or warm up any take-aways. Iron and ironing board are available on demand. If you have any allergies (feathers, colours, etc.) please let us know in advance.
We're in a quiet residential area at the end of a cul-de-sac (so no traffic at all) and right next to a park, Fog Lane Park. Didsbury in considered the most prestigious location in Manchester, situated between the centre and the airport. Didsbury village is at 7 minutes walking distance, with all its restaurants, shops, and take-aways.
  • Loved the place! Super clean, stylish, good location and with everything you need. The collection of movies a nice touch! Will definitely be coming back soon. Thanks Eric for being a great host x

  • Where do I start, this was one of the best Airbnb’s that I’ve stayed at. It is perfect for 1/2 people. I visited Manchester for the Manchester United/City Derby and the location was great especially since the Derby was held in Old Trafford. There is a reason why Eric is a superhost. The Airbnb is located in a nice and seemingly very safe neighborhood. There are two train stops into Manchester. Both are about a 12-15 minute walk away. One of the train stops actually takes you to and from the airport for not a bad price. From the airport, you have to select the appropriate ticket. There is a laundromat and a really good and delicious restaurant for breakfast/ brunch called “Medo Cafe” walking distance. You’ll pass it if you walk from the train stop to the Airbnb from the Airport. The prices for the restaurant are really cheap. Eric is really responsive and actually let Stubhub mail the tickets to the match to his place for free. He was really nice and also let me stay an additional night for a really good price. There is also a ton of dvd movies to choose from when looking for entertainment at night after a long day.

  • Couldn't have needed more from Eric's apartment. Clean, tidy and had a few extra touches that really made the stay pleasant.

  • Really great place really clean and felt really safe. Amazing host who also allowed us to stay an extra hour after checkout as leaving before would mean a lot of waiting around for us. Would 100% recommend

  • Great place to pop into city centre, very clean, everything you need for a short stay. Will definitely be considering for any future visits to Manchester

  • Everything you need for a comfortable stay. Good location and within walking distance of many buses which go to the centre of Manchester. Will hope to return.

  • This is a lovely little place to stay. Very close to a station that easily reaches the center of Manchester however tucked away in a lovely little suburb you can hide out in if you want to. Very well maintained with multiple small thoughtful touches - including an amazing DVD collection for the days you just don’t want to leave. Highly recommend!

  • A great place to stay when visiting Manchester. Superb location with Burnage rail station a few minutes away by foot, with trains and buses that can take you into the city or elsewhere. Fully supplied with amenities, including but not limited to tea, coffee, juice and milk. Not to mention the well equipped kitchen, with a collection of spices that you may use. Eric is very friendly as well, and will make sure you have an enjoyable stay.

We have a stylish space which is close to the Manchester Airport and 10 mins from City on Train. It is part of our home but still private; you have access via the garden and the space is all on the ground floor. We have recently renovated the whole property so the space has been decorated throughout with a newly fitted luxury shower room and upgraded kitchen. You have the use of the south facing rear garden with three areas for relaxing and or entertaining.
Our abode is quite unique; not the most attractive architecturally but certainly deceptive. I would like to think we have so far made the most of it, I love property and renovation and am an avid DIY perfectionist, much to my wife's frustration.
Our apartment is situated within the Heaton's a popular leafy suburb of Manchester. Located within a few minutes of junction 1 of the M60 the Airport 10 mins, Man United 18 mins, Man City 19 mins, City centre 22 Mins, Stockport Train station 7 mins. We have a good selection of pubs, bars, cafes, cinema and shops all within a 12/20 min walk. Lots of public transport options, Trams, trains and buses all walkable.
  • Great place close to the airport! Would definitely use again

  • Another fantastic weekend stay in this beautiful apartment, which is always our first choice when visiting family in the area We were heading straight from the airport to a show in central Manchester on the Friday evening - Mike collected us in his super-luxurious MPV, drove us straight into town and did a little circuit of suggested places to eat before driving our bags back to the apartment for us so we didn’t have to lug them around. This got the weekend off to a perfect start. As always, the apartment itself was pristine and incredibly well equipped with everything from delicious coffee and croissants to quality toiletries. The change from one large bed to two small doubles in one of the bedrooms is new since our last visit and worked really well for our teenagers. Our two lazy weekend mornings looking out at the birds and watching Spring come to the garden were incredibly relaxing. Thanks so much Mike - and for future guests, you just won’t find a better place to stay in the Greater Manchester area if you are lucky enough to find Mike’s apartment free!

  • Miles Place is such a lovely place to stay. Beautiful garden apartment with everything you could possibly need! Comfy beds and blackout blinds. We had a fantastic stay, thanks.

    Hilary2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic accommodation, great location and very helpful host. Mike was so helpful and responsive. The apartment is so well kitted out and absolutely beautiful. Would highly recommend. We will definitely be back.

  • Lovely cosy place, beautiful garden and a very hospitable host. Would definitely recommend.

    Iqra2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely clean space, great for the dog and with a lovely garden to look out at from the lounge. Mike and his wife really provide for everything, from toothpaste and hair bobbles to jam and fresh milk! There is lots of storage space for clothes, and the bathroom is new and has a lovely shower. The neighbours can be fairly noisy with their tv, so don't choose this if you need silence at bedtime - or maybe just bring earplugs! There are quite a few steps up to the apartment, so this suits people who are fairly mobile. This was a great stay for us and we really felt at home. The bedding is superb and everything is provided for.

  • Sally's apartment was a great find! The home is on a hillside that feels outside the urban bustle and the studio is cozy and well-equipped. Sally met us at the door with a smile and gave a quick tour. Her notebook of guest information was prolific, and coming and going were easy. If you're driving, especially, this is an outstanding home base from which to visit the area.

  • Perfect find for a multi night stay. the room is a little smaller than the photo's portrayal but there is absolutely ample space for 1-2 people to relax and wind down after a day’s busying. Plenty of light during the day and warm at night. Stay was made all the more comfortable with Sally allowing me to keep my bike inside the apartment which as someone who travels with their bike a lot is immediate brownie points! :)

Make breakfast before a metro ride to Manchester's centre from this compact en suite. A yellow mirror and chair are fun accents in a neutral room with a cute wood-panelled shower room. A shared garden offers another place to kick back.
The Pad has been purpose designed with luxury, comfort and elegant touches for the overnight guest or guests (2 max). With a palette of greys and pops of colour, the room is warm and welcoming as well as super stylish. The bed is wonderfully comfy, the furnishings unique and bespoke, and the kitchen well equipped for an overnight stay or longer. The images reflect the high standards of the accommodation, which also benefits from a beautiful garden area downstairs. Lots of drawer and clothes hanging has been included, surface areas for bits and bobs, plus freeview TV, Netflix and wireless internet. We charge a £22 cleaning fee as recently & unusually some guests have been very disrespectful, leading to increased costs. However, we refund £12 of this to tidy guests! :)
West Didsbury is a popular indie suburb in the south of the city, with lots of cafes, bars, and restaurants nearby. There's plenty on offer on the doorstep, and with the Burton Road metro close by, the city centre is only a short ride away.
  • Very nice space for a quick one night stop. Would book again if we are in the area again!

  • If you choose “Pad”, it will be a good start in Manchester. A fantastic room with tidy facilities and beautiful beddings. Here are metro-link map and restaurants booklets be prepared. By the way, here is only two-minutes-walk to the metro-link. And also a Tesco beside the metro-link. The landlord couple are very kind and passional. The property gave me a memorable Christmas traveling!

  • This studio apartment is in the perfect location for shopping in West Didsbury or 10/15 minutes away from Manchester City centre by car. There is also the Metro Link a one minute walk away from the apartment. Be sure to try out Sip wine bar for self-serve wine and English-style tapas! Would highly recommend a stay at Sian and Martin's place - I am sure we will be back!

    Alex2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Although we only stayed a few hours, for some respite, it was an easy and pleasant stay. Sian was very communicative and offered helpful tips before our arrival. The area was nice and seemed to have a lot going on, too. Definitely recommend!

Our house is situated in Didsbury, one of Manchester's liveliest areas with lots of busy bars restaurants and cafes within a short walk. The house is very close to excellent, high frequency bus and tram (Metrolink) services to the city centre, universities and hospitals. We are 3 minutes walk from the West Didsbury tram stop. Although close to local amenities, the street is quiet and does not suffer from traffic noise. Parking is available on the street.
We have three rooms that are listed on Airbnb. Two are large en-suite rooms and there is a smaller room, which is not en-suite but which has an attractive adjacent bathroom. The other rooms are listed under "Large Room good access city centre" and "Comfortable en-suite room, Didsbury". The room you are viewing is our smallest room. It is equipped with a small wardrobe and has a UK standard sized double bed and a small table. The bathroom that goes with this room is large and modern and has a bath with a shower over. A buffet style breakfast is included consisting of home made breads, cereals, fruit and yoghurt.
  • Lovely home, very private and close to everything

  • A peaceful, beautifully decorated house with warm, welcoming hosts. Easily accessible from the airport on the number 43 bus and located between Withington and Didsbury with a variety of shops, bars, and cafes nearby. Tram and bus travel to Manchester city centre is quick and easy, and the hosts offer tips and suggestions on how to get around the local area. Great stay, fully recommend for location and hospitality

  • This airbnb is absolutely perfect for anyone looking for a close to centre house. Very clean, with a host who went above and beyond in terms of helpfulness. Great value too. Would definitely utilise again. Only fault is a slightly shorter step on the stairs. Thanks for making our weekend with this fab base! x

    Ewen2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Better than expected - very clean, spacious and very nicely decorated. Easy access to shops and main area with bars etc. Definitely recommend it for groups!

    Sophie2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • This house is amazing!! Improvements: - Extension leads for 3 of the bedrooms (Downstairs & x2 upstairs - closest to staircase) or - Mirrors in each room to do hair and use electronic devices - hair dryer, straighteners etc.. Hint: The backroom does have a mirror and plug nearby - so you can all pile into this room. Tips for other guests: - If you are UK based bring your own condiments i.e Jams, Ketchup etc. They do provide teabags and sugar. - The write up mentions 1x car space. This is off road in a nice little residential section next to the house. Due to having a friend stay the night I asked another resident who was in their car if it would be ok for my friend to park in front of two double Woden/gate doors. He said that wasn't a problem . In the morning I noticed that these double doors actually are a side access to the Air BnB Garden. So may be worth talking with the host if it is ok to use these. - If going in summer ask how to open the back door. There is definetely a method to opening the garden back doors. If you open the door it just pops the top section out. So how you get them to slide was a mystery to us. Other feedback - my thoughts: Before booking I read a few comments regarding a step on the stairCase. My response to this is. Yes the step caught myself and my friend out. But once you know it is there then you have a mental check to be careful on it. It is a little bit shorter than the others so when your foot doesn't land as expected it throws you off balance slightly. But that's it. I personally would not stop a re-book based on that. If you have anyone elderly staying place them in the downstairs bedroom. It is also the closest to the toilets (no upstairs toilet but two down stairs). Other: Everything is perfect with this property, the area was quiet (visited 20th Dec - Uni Holidays), the house wasn't just tidy, It was imaculate and the kitchen was well stocked with utensils. I just can't recommend this place enough and the host was on point with coms.

'The Vestry' is an 1846 church building, now a delightful studio cottage for couples, families or business trips with easy access to Manchester airport/city. On the edge of the Peak District it includes a comfortable double bed, 2 single beds on the mezzanine and a single bed (if reqd). Relax in front of the wood burning stove, or on the lovely rear deck overlooking our brook and woodland. It’s an easy 5 minute walk to the village with great pubs, shops and restaurants.
Lovingly renovated over the past 5 years, we have transformed The Vestry into a calming, private sanctuary full of character, history and interest. The Vestry comfortably sleeps 4 (although we can accommodate 5), with the main bed on the ground floor and 2 single beds on the mezzanine level. You do need to climb a ladder up to mezzanine so we recommend that only children over 7 should sleep up top. For younger children, or those who need access to the bathroom during the night, we can provide an additional single bed on the ground floor. The mezzanine isn't just for children however, and adults can also sleep up there (just watch the head height) as it can be a little tight (see photos). There is an en-suite bathroom with a fabulous shower, and we provide towels and toiletries, as well as all linen, duvets and pillows. If you're planning to stay for more than a few days, we're happy to do a change over of linen and towels during your stay. (Please ensure you ask us to so we know to have the linen ready for you) The wood burning stove will be ready to light on arrival, so you can enjoy the warmth and ambience of a real fire! There are plenty of board games too, and in the summer the children are welcome to play in the courtyard. We provide a selection of teas, coffee and milk for your arrival so you can settle in after your drive, and there is a variety of cereals for breakfast. In the kitchenette there is an under-counter fridge freezer and microwave. We are within an easy walk to the village and we find a lot of our guests like to eat out when they are here, and with a variety of cafes, delis and restaurants there are lots of great options to choose from. The bi-fold doors open up to a very private deck, overlooking the brook and our woodland, which is full of wildlife. This is a beautiful, secluded spot, with a table and chairs perfect for breakfast, or an end-of-day G&T or glass of wine! You can park on our driveway or smaller cars can drive into the courtyard - there is additional parking around the corner from the property should you need it. Poynton is a fantastic village for walking and cycling and The Vestry is perfectly located. From the front door you can walk to many of the accessible footpaths that weave through the village, up towards the canal and Lyme Park or down through the Village and over to Poynton Pool. We are available to give you any guidance and recommend places to go to should you need it.
Poynton is a lovely small town with a distinctly village feel. It's located on the edge of the Peak District National Park, and separated from the Manchester conurbation by a large area of green belt, giving Poynton a semi rural character with a huge amount of green space. We have a great selection of cafes, delis, and restaurants in the village, and lots of independent shops giving it a unique feel. There are a couple of great pubs (The Farmers Arms offers great food), bars and we also have a fantastic live music venue - The Acoustic Lounge - with gigs every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Further away from the village centre, we have some classic country pubs serving great food. The train station is about 1.5 miles away with direct routes to Manchester and we have a regular bus route too.
  • The Vestry itself is a beautiful place to stay, Ian and Emma were very accomodating in person and with their local tips in the cottage guide book!

    Martha2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • This is the perfect little place for a stopover or even for a longer stay. Beautifully presented and equipped with all we needed.

    Eoin2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • What a great place just outside Manchester! Absolutely perfect for venturing into Manchester, as the train station is within walking distance. The town itself is gorgeous! Just a short walk to all the quaint little shops and restaurants was just what we wanted, so this was perfect for us! The vestry itself is warm, cosy and has all you need. The little personal touches and added extras were the icing on the cake. The fireplace was also an added bonus on a cold winter evening and it was just perfect after a long day around the shops. Lovely hosts who made us feel welcome as soon as we arrived. We would highly recommend this great little place to others.

  • We had a beautiful time at The Vestry and couldn’t rate it higher. So many lovely touches especially the wood burner and space elements... highly recommend to anyone looking for a special and quaint place to stay in Cheshire. Emma and Ian and dog Franky are great hosts and have really put a lot of thought into making the stay a lovely one. Amanda and Ian

  • Lovely place to stay!

    Isabel2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • The vestry is a delightful place to stay. It is even better in person than the photos. Ian made every effort to ensure our comfort and assisted us by calling transport, making excellent local suggestions and being a kind and thoughtful individual in general. The vestry is located in the lovely village of Poynton, near many local walks. It is incredibly cosy and we felt extremely welcome. Thank you Ian and Emma for all of the extra touches. We would certainly stay again.

Our lovely holiday home is in the perfect location for a fabulous holiday or business stay. In a peaceful spot beside the canal & the edge of the Peak District, yet just a few minutes drive from Poynton village with its cafe culture, restaurants and bars. Well located for Manchester airport too! The property sleeps up to 6 people. There are two bedrooms each with a double bed and a corner sofa bed in the lounge that sleeps 2. There is also a bright living area & private garden.
The property has been lovingly developed as a holiday home, and we hope we've thought of everything! in dormer bungalow style, it sleeps 4 people in two double beds in 2 separate bedrooms. Two further guests can be accommodated in the lounge where the comfortable corner sofa contains a fold out sofa bed. Fresh bed linen and towels provided BEDROOM 1 A cosy ground floor room with double bed, bed side drawers. small wardrobe and an ensuite shower room. BEDROOM 2 (Loft room) The second bedroom is upstairs and is loft style room with the most amazing, 'picture postcard' view over the canal and across the hills to the Peak district. There is another ensuite shower room in this bedroom. Please note, because this room is in the roof, the head space is restricted in the room (though it's fine for me at 5'10 / 175cm). There is no door to this room, however it is the only room on the first floor which affords it some privacy. This room contains: Double bed Bedside table with light Chest of drawers Hanging rail for clothes Chair Fabulous view!! LIVING AREA With 3 windows and huge patio doors, this room is bright and airy. The open plan living space has huge bifold doors that pretty much open up the whole back of the property - fabulous on a summer's day! The enclosed patio area attracts the morning sun, a charming spot to enjoy your breakfast whilst the sun rises. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need for your stay : oven, hob, microwave, fridge and freezer, kettle, toaster, cafetiere, steamer, crockery and cutlery, pots and pans. There is also a washing machine and a small dishwasher As well as the small, walled garden to the rear of the property, there is a second, open, patio area to the side of the house, where you can enjoy the views. The main living area contains: A large corner sofa which holds a metal action sofa bed which holds up to 2 people. (Please note, this should not be used by anyone over 13 stone / 82kg 2 chairs & a pouffe SMART TV (this runs from the internet and can mirror an Android phone, or select from the preloaded apps. Please note there isn't a signal for terrestrial TV but the preloaded apps do include BBC Iplayer as well as a selection of other channels) Set of drawers Coat stand Glass dining table - seats 4. Please note, although we're happy for all ages to enjoy our property, we have open stairs from the loft bedroom to the front door (although these are separate from the lounge) and we don't have any child safety gates, cot or special child-proofing in place. Young children will need to be supervised.
Set in a the peaceful conservation area of the Higher Poynton canal, with fabulous views of rolling countryside. A superb holiday location, ideal for walkers, cyclists, fishing, wildlife watching, or simply a place to retreat to during a business trip. The property is on a small, quiet street of private houses. Distance to : Poynton Village - 1.5 miles Stockport - 6.5 miles Macclesfield - 8 miles Manchester airport - 10 miles Manchester city - 15.4 miles Castleton (Peak district village) 19 miles The time it takes to get to Manchester can vary depending on the traffic, however there is a train that runs every hour from Poynton station during the day and takes 25 minutes. Please do check the times of this train though as although there is a regular service on a week day, the weekend time table can be more sporadic. (Hazel Grove station is a short drive away and has a more comprehensive service). 'Water's Edge' is on the same road as Elm Beds Caravan Park - a perfect spot if you have friends holidaying on the site but don't fancy joining them in a tent! It's also within close walking distance of Braidbar Canal Boat builders. Fabulous scenery doesn't have to mean you're stuck out in the wilderness. In Poynton village you'll find a good selection of restaurants, pubs, a couple of supermarkets as well as a number of small shops. Walks start right outside the front door, where you can join the Poynton canal with a selection of walks or cycle rides. If you're a keen runner, there is also a monthly 10k trail run at the lovely Lyme Park (fourth Sunday of every month).
  • The photos really don't do this fabulous house justice! Early mornings overlooking the canal from the huge picture window are just magical, we want to return in summer to see the views change. The house is bright and full of light with all the windows, and we were lucky enough to have a few warmer days when we could open the large folding windows and have tea on the patio. (The canal is just the other side of this, with a little cafe and pub nearby) A very homely but stylish house, with a well stocked kitchen. Great little touches and hospitality. Thanks Christine, we'll be back soon!

    Jenny2020-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • Chrissie was a great host and we LOVED our stay here! There were lots of essential amenities provided which were greatly appreciated and made things easy. The home is specious, bright and well kept, with beautiful views from the top bedroom window. The location was so peaceful by the canal and the pub and cafe within walking distance were fantastic! We would love to come back soon.

  • Christine's place was absolutely perfect for my wife and I with our 9 month old little boy for a quiet New Year's weekend. Ideal location close to the centre of Poynton but tucked away right on the canal. We'd absolutely recommend it!

This is a modern conversion of an extension to our house which used to be a bakery. It is a compact self contained one bedroom ground floor apartment with its own entrance, small double bedroom with en suite shower room and lounge with sofa bed and kitchenette. The apartment is self catering but we welcome you with food and drink essentials. Well behaved animals may stay too. Good for walkers, cyclists, anglers or romantics, but everyone is welcome to rest and rise at the Old Bakery.
Rest and Rise is a no smoking property that can sleep up to four people. There is one small separate bedroom with a double bed, and a very comfortable sofa bed in the the lounge area. We are on the edge of Lyme Park and next to the Middlewood Way, on the doorstep of stunning countryside. Our house is next to the Macclesfield canal where many anglers enjoy successful fishing. Walkers and bikers would find plenty to do, as would those interested in local history. The apartment has space to park one car next to ours at the front of the house, and is accessed by its own separate front door, within a small private courtyard found at the side of our house. Smoking is not permitted in any part of the house, garden or frontage. We live in the main house attached so will be on hand if you need anything. Your welcome pack will include bread, milk, wine and home-made preserves, and staples such as tea, coffee and sugar are always left in the kitchen. We do not make you breakfast - the apartment is self catering - but if you don't fancy cooking for yourselves there are plenty of restaurants and takeaways in the area. Usual check in is after 3pm and check out is before 12 noon, but we may be able to accommodate a different time by prior arrangement. The walls of the apartment are hung with original artwork by me, Kate, your host. I am always ready to talk about my art with interested people and am happy to give you a tour of my studio upstairs, which has one of the best views in Cheshire. Please note that, while we ourselves have spent a couple of weeks sleeping on the sofa bed in the past and found it perfectly comfortable, one guest has found it to be a bit small for his teenage children to share. The apartment is compact and perfect for two, although three or four can stay if they know each other really well! Please note that there's no space in the bedroom to put up a travel cot, however there is in the adjoining hallway.
We are on the Cheshire Derbyshire border so the Peak District national park is within easy distance. You can walk straight into Lyme Park from our front door, it's just less than two miles of footpaths between us and Mr Darcy's main residence. Manchester international airport is 10 miles away so less than 20 minutes drive, or an inexpensive taxi. Poynton has good rail links to London, Manchester and beyond. Poynton itself contains supermarkets, independent shops and many restaurants and takeaways. It's about a five minute drive down the hill to Park Lane where the shops are. We are happy to advise if you need any pointers about where best to eat or shop. Within the centre of Poynton we have both a Waitrose and an Aldi, so everyone's happy. There is plenty of local history to discover, along with some pleasant country pubs. We live right beside the Macclesfield Canal which is good for anglers, walkers and cyclists alike. The Middlewood Way is just at the end of the road.
  • Beautiful, lovely and warm people and same goes for the house. From the furniture to the decor to the art on the walls; everything was immensely charming and inviting. Unlike some places which can feel sterile and impersonal, you really get a sense that someone has welcomed you into their home and is sharing a little bit of their life and their world with you. A little twinkling, ornamented Christmas tree, fresh milk in the fridge, homemade orange and lemon jam laid out on the kitchen counter; little touches like these really show how much thought and care Kate puts into making sure you'll feel at home and comfortable. 11/10 Would definitely visit again

  • Kate is an artist and the accommodation is a nice canvas for her work. See if you can spot the painting that matches the cushion print. The bed was comfortable & the ensuite a nice size. There were lots of lovely touches around to make us feel comfortable: Warm home made bread and home made jam and marmalade with real butter. A bottle of prosecco with fresh strawberries Lots of different coffees and teas and a bottle of milk. The heating is independently controlled Comfy furniture The accommodation is situated in a quiet spot right n the canal and less than £5 taxi ride from the fabulous town of Poynton.

    Clive2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful and quiet location, right by the canal but a short car ride to Poynton for food and shops. Cosy and warm despite the cold autumn nights when we stayed. Fresh bread and strawberries when we arrived that went well with the homemade jam and marmalade. Highly recommended

  • Yvonne and Nige are friendly and professional hosts with a beautiful home. If you’re not familiar with the area, Poynton doesn’t disappoint. Local amenities are modern and plentiful. Manchester is 15 mins by train. The room is a spacious and private ensuite loft conversion - recommended to all.

    Kit2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • When you stay with a Superhost, you expect all the personal touches because they have seen everything before and problems have been solved before you turn up. Nige and Yvonne meet the description of Super-hosts. They are so welcoming and friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. We needed a stay in the centre of a Poynton and this house is exactly that. There is parking in the driveway ((Nige leaves a wheelie bin on the path outside as house numbers are difficult to see in the dark). On arrival, Daisy the Labrador helps with the greeting, she’s not jumpy since she quite an old lady at 12. We love dogs, so it was lovely to be around such a friendly animal. Drinks were offered and accepted and we sat in the living room to talk before being shown to our room at the top of the house. (Note: take some slippers with you as the stairs are polished wood and can be a little slippery when you are weighed down with luggage). The bedroom is lovely with a large comfy bed (plenty of pillows), the ceiling slopes at the ends as this is an attic room with 2 Velux windows (with manual blinds, there is a tv and free Wi-Fi, good lighting and a long mirror on the back of the door. There is an en-suite bathroom with shower, sink and toilet. Breakfast is cereal, fruit, toast, tea and coffee and is taken in the kitchen at the breakfast snug. The house is only 10 mins from Manchester Airport now a new road has been built and something to be considered rather than staying in an impersonal chain hotel. On a little personal note, we would like to thank Nige for giving us a lift to our Xmas party - it was only a 5 minute walk but we were dressed in our finest and since it was raining a little, we were very grateful for this little touch of kindness 😊

    Neil2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Really lovely welcoming couple - Nige and Yvonne certainly are superhosts. Comfortable bed and lovely and clean - definately recommend.

  • I definitely recommend Sue's place. It is super clean, very well layed-out despite the little space, plus you have all amenities you require. I stayed there for 1 night and I was happy I could even cook, instead of going to the restaurant. I stayed at Sue's place as I had to collect my boyfriend from Manchester Airport the following day at 9am. The location is perfect because the area is very quiet and you only need to drive about 10/15 min to Manchester Airport. It is perfect if you need to go to/be at Manchester Airport for an early/late flight. Sue also provided breakfast, jams, bread etc, and gave some tips for the local restaurants. Don't hesitate to book with Sue!

    Alexandra2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • What a fabulous place to stay. Value for money, cosy, all essentials provided, great choice of breakfast cereals, toast, jams & marmalade, endless tea & coffee, lovely quiet area, so conveniently positioned and very attentive host. Thank you Sue we enjoyed our stay 😊

  • If you are considering booking with Sue, just do it. Don’t hesitate. The place is very tastefully set up, with a comfy bed, and lots of breakfast options. Everything you need is there, and Sue was very prompt in responding to messages we sent. We booked to stay for the night before flying from Manchester and the location, distance and everything else you can think of was just perfect. We will 100% book with Sue next time we go abroad. Just ideal!

Gemini III is set along the beautiful Macclesfield Canal and has a home mooring at Higher Poynton. This stretch of the canal has a green flag award and borders Lyme Park which is looked after by the National Trust. The village of poynton is a mile away and locally there is a shop and the Boars Head pub. The boat is 45ft long has a cabin with double bed, bathroom, fully equipped kitchen and saloon with a double sofa bed. A fabulous place from which to explore Derbyshire & the Peak district
The boat comes equipped with all the things you need for a cosy and comfortable stay aboard. From the rear entrance you enter the cabin with a comfy double bed, wardrobes and lots of under bed storage. The bathroom which has a wash basin with mirror above, toilet and shower. The kitchen has a full size oven with separate grill and 4 hobs, fridge, sink with drainer and a hot water boiler which provides instant hot water to the boat. In the lounge is a large sofa which makes a cosy sofa bed, wood burning stove for those cosy nights in to take the chill off and a Free-view TV with DVD and USB reader. On the front deck can also be found a fold down table, a great place for an evening glass of wine or morning breakfast in the sunshine. The boat has only low powered mains electricity available via a 1000 watt inverter. This means that unfortunately power hungry appliances such as hair dryers are unlikely to be able to be used aboard.
The local area is quiet and peaceful, nearby is a pub (The Boars Head) which is dog friendly and serves good food. The village of Poynton is a mile away and has a great range of shops, restaurants and cafes.
  • Paul’s narrow boat did everything it was supposed to do despite us being complete novices! Had a wonderful time chugging along the scenic Macclesfield and Peak canals. The facilities on board are good and provided everything you require. Paul was very helpful and accommodating. Thoroughly recommended.

  • This was a most enjoyable time aboard the Gemini III, made possible by Paul's efficient and personal handling of our booking. We were taken through every step and given confidence to drive the boat on this beautiful stretch of canal. There was so much heritage, local interest and pubs, together with the beautiful and tranquil landscape to keep us occupied, though simply mooring up and taking a break on deck was a pleasure itself. The boat is well equipped for a comfortable stay and we really appreciated the supply of wood for the fire on cool April evenings. Self catering is easy in the fully functional kitchen. I would definitely recommend this to anyone wishing to either start out or extend their experience on the canals. Thanks Paul for your friendly help and advice.

  • We decided to rent Paul’s floating home for the Easter weekend and we were not disappointed. As both of us had never manned a narrow boat before we were a little nervous but Paul gave us lots of instruction and we felt very comfortable once we got underway. Paul thinks of everything to make your stay enjoyable - plenty of wood for the fire, tea and coffee and lovely fresh laundered sheets and towels. The Macclesfield canal is an enjoyable introduction to water holidays, no locks to navigate on the Poynton to Sutton stretch so it’s a rather stress free affair with lots of great pubs along the way! We will return for an extended stay!

    Peter2018-04-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely time on the boat and was pleased to say that we managed to do a couple of trips on the canal. Paul was very good and told us what to do and expect. Would love to do it again

    Adri2017-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • I had a wonderful stay on Paul's narrow boat. It's a perfect, leisurely and relaxing way to spend a holiday cruising through the canals along side beautiful rolling hills, and through small towns where you get a chance to try plenty of homemade pub food and great beers. I'd highly recommend to anyone interested in giving it a go!

  • Fantastic hosts!!!!! I would give 15 out of 5 stars. Lovely home, lovely people and made to feel so welcome. Very well organised. Nice touches. Good breakfast selection. You will want to move in permanently. If 5ft 10 or taller the shower height may be an issue but the rest outweighs that minus. They are super quiet around the house. Slept really well and felt like a queen in the gorgeous bed clothes and chunky duvet. I was there four nights to attend and perform a wedding. Tasmin helped me a great deal and I feel truly blessed to have chosen this airbnb. She’s kind, generous, smart and good fun. Azer also a sweetie and offered to give me a lift to Manchester when he was going as I had no car with me. 20 minutes walk to train station n less to local coop store n Indian restaurant/takeaway. Bramhall is a lovely leafy upmarket area. Do visit Bramall Hall and park. The most tudor building I have ever seen.

    Marta2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Firstly it was honestly the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. Aziz and Tasmin were excellent hosts, they made sure I had everything I needed and more, they even arranged a space for me to leave my bike in the garage. A big plus was that with my own key and thing I was completely free to come and go as needed. They have a lovely house and Bramhall town is very charming with good connections and some lovely places to eat. Excellent stay for a great price, would definitely reccomend it.

    Christian2019-08-02T00:00:00Z

You will be delighted with our chic and modern one bedroom apartment with its own terrace and enchanted garden. Set within a quiet area in Wilmslow, our apartment is perfect for business travelers, couples and small families. We have a dedicated parking space, as well as free WiFi. Wilmslow town centre with all its stylish lively bars and elegant restaurants is a mere 20 minutes' walk through a lovely housing estate. Additionally, a Lidl, Tesco, chippy and pub are located a stone's throw away.
Our Cheshire Garden Apartment comprises a modern, newly refurbished one bedroom apartment located on the ground floor. Our apartment is a real home from home and is equipped with everything you might need during your stay. We have summarised the property's amenities as follows: • Free wireless broadband • Dedicated off-road parking space to the rear of the property • New fully fitted kitchen including supplies of tea, coffee, sugar, oil, spread, jams or marmalade, cornflakes, washing up liquid, kitchen roll, plus a few other items. • Fresh linen and towels are provided including bathroom soap, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner • Flat screen smart TV with Netflix • Hair-dryer • Iron & ironing board • Cafeteria • Washing machine & washing pods • Various books including cook books & pens and a pad Given that the property is located on the ground floor it is suitable for disabled people. We can provide a travel cot for your little one, if prior notice is given. Hire of the cot is £20 per stay, which includes bedding and towel.
Our apartment is uniquely located 10 minutes' drive from Manchester Airport, 20 minutes from Manchester city centre and about half an hour from the Peak District. Wilmslow town centre and railway station can be reached within 20 minutes by foot. The walk takes you through a lovely affluent housing estate and along the edge of Wilmslow Park. There are lots of fabulous restaurants, cafes, bars and pubs in Wilmlsow town centre. Our favourite pub where we can be found on most Friday and Saturday evenings is the Unicorn pub on Adlington Road (about 20 minutes by foot) - it's a great no-nonsense gastro pub with a menu of traditional British dishes and a family-friendly vibe. It has a great beer garden to the rear and Noah is a huge fan of their fish fingers, chips and beans. Another insider tip is The Cheshire Butcher and Farm shop on Lees Lane (5 minute drive). We get most of our fresh meat and produce from them and they never disappoint - a real gem! We highly recommend the homemade pies. Wilmslow Garden Centre is also a must during your stay (located on Manchester Road, within 5 minutes' drive). It is widely considered to be the best garden centre in Cheshire and has a great restaurant. If you are interested in discovering the area's history, we would recommend paying Quarry Bank Mill a visit. The mill is one of the best preserved cotton mills on the Industrial Revolution and allows visitors to understand the hardships faced by the workers who toiled in the mill, and uncover engineering genius at work. I visited for the first time on a school trip in 1995 and have returned many times since.
  • Unfortunately we had to cancel last minute, but Matthew was brilliant to deal with and it was all organised very quickly and easily.

    Karen2020-02-27T00:00:00Z

I cannot rate this stay enough...I almost didn’t want to leave a good review to keep it a secret for us to return and have the facilities to ourselves again! Many thanks, we’ll be back as soon as possible!

  • Kenneth’s place was perfect for our family. Situated in a cul-de-sac, it was safe for the children. Every bedroom was prepared like in a hotel including the boutique mini soap. The house was clean and spacious. We also loved that the TV came with Nextflix and Sky. We don’t need to stay in the centre when we come to Manchester, so we will be back at Kenneth’s place!

Unique, luxury, spacious 4 bedroom cottage in the heart of picturesque Rainow, Cheshire. Sleeps up to 9 comfortably. Perfect for exploring the eastern point of the Peak District and close to the amenities of Macclesfield. The property is a converted pub and dates back to 1810. But has recently been lovingly restored and updated to modern standards, without loosing its natural charm. The property is situated next to the main pub in Rainow, The Robin Hood, which serves hot food through the day.
Recently restored and renovated, extremely spacious character cottage, oozing with charm. Perched on the side of the peak district hills in beautiful Rainow, with magical, open views. Well-equipped for the perfect Peak District stay.
Rainow is a beautiful village and civil parish in Cheshire, England, in the valley of the River Dean and next to the B5470 road between Macclesfield and Kettleshulme. It straddles the eastern side of the Peak District border of Derbyshire and Cheshire. The area is popular among nature observers, walkers, cyclists and para-gliders as well as those looking for romantic stays. The village lies in Cheshire's portion of the Peak District, just North East of the substantial town of Macclesfield; but visitors would never know it, for the hill of Kerridge shields Rainow on the Western side, while to the East, rise some of the highest of the region's peaks - Cat’s Tor and Shining Tor.  The ridge here at “The Tors” marks the parish boundary, (it's a large parish for a small village) and offers wonderful views across the Goyt Valley, with its reservoirs and forests.  Views from Kerridge are no less spectacular, stretching right across the Cheshire plain to the Welsh mountains.  "Rainow" derives from the Old English for "Raven Low" - "low" meaning "hill" in these parts  - and it is an indication of how bleak an environment this would have been in ancient times.  Nevertheless, the village was right at the heart of things, for ancient trackways met here, in the days when ridges were the best places to run packhorse routes; one went North along Kerridge, (literally, "Key Ridge") while an all important route for Cheshire salt ran West-East.  These ancient ways now make for great walking; the Gritstone Trail also skirts the village, while a veritable maze of local paths can take the walker in any direction, to Windgather Rocks, Tegg's Nose, Pym Chair - resonant names for extraordinary places.  At Tegg's Nose Country Park, a few miles South, there is a visitors' centre and a fascinating archaeological trail to follow on foot. The most prominent local feature, (and great short walk destination) is White Nancy, a folly standing at the Bollington end of Kerridge.  Originally the site of a beacon that would have been lit to warn of foreign invasion, the strange, bell-shaped structure was built to celebrate victory over Napoleon, and was a summer house.  Today it is simply a solid lump of a structure, but it has always been painted white.  The origin of "Nancy" is not certain, but may have been taken from the name of one of horses used to pull building materials up the very steep hill. There are numerous ancient standing stones and bronze age tumuli dotted around the area, testament to an unbroken line of settlement, though the village itself did not really get going until the 18th century, when the River Dean was first used to power early cotton mills.  Two of these venerable buildings still stand; Ingersley Vale Mill, built in 1809, was famous for having the second largest water wheel in the country - beaten only by the great Laxey Wheel, on the Isle of Man.  Rainow's prosperity was short-lived, however, as Bollington, only a mile away, had access to the newly dug canal and thus supplies of coal to fuel new, steam-powered mills.  The coming of the railway to Macclesfield did even more to drag the centre of industry away to the West, so that today one would never guess as to the village's industrial past. Coal was mined in the 19th century out of the East side of Kerridge. One of the mines was known as the California drift mine, after one of the local Vare family that had taken part in the Gold Rush there in 1849. The name was shortened to Cali; the stretch of the River Dean that runs along the foot of Kerridge is still known locally as Cali Brook. The Quebec drift mines were dug on the South slope of Big Low, named, again after another Vare family member who had worked in Canada. Quarries are still a feature of the West side of Kerridge, but the predominant view all around Rainow is heavily rural; green pastures, woods and trickling streams. At The Oaks, an area of woodland near Thornsett farm, there is a remnant of the ancient woodland that would have once covered these hills; the oaks in question are Sessile Oak, an upland species, clearly differing from the Common Oak found on the Cheshire Plain. While it may lack shops, the village is blessed with a fine selection of pubs:- on Macclesfield Road, The Highwayman is a traditional 17th century country pub, serving Thwaites bitter and excellent home-cooked food. The Rising Sun offers equally fine ales and  food, while The Robin Hood Inn on Church Brow is open all day for  food and drink, seven days a week.  It has a function room for up to 80 people, making it ideal for large gatherings. At Common Barn Farm there is a tea shop catering for ramblers on the Rainow Ring walkers' footpath.  Jane Osmond's Studio/Gallery at Cesterbridge Cottage, Kerridge End is open to visitors between 10am and 5pm on weekdays. Jane produces original prints, mostly etchings and silk-screens of our local landscape, and teaches the print technique at her studio. For the superstitious, or the ghost hunters among you, the historical records reveal two oddities:- "Two Rainow women, Ellen Beech and Anne Osbalderton, were hanged after the 1656 Michelmas Assizes at Chester for practising "certain arts from which wicked and devilish acts certain people of Rainow fell ill and died"."
  • Great place, lovely size. Fully equipped kitchen. Pub just down the road that serves amazing tapas. Really lovely break.
