Places to stay in Padstow
Escape to the beautiful wilderness of the North Cornish coast, close to Port Isaac & Polzeath. Stay in a handcrafted shepherd's hut with curved ash beams & Salamander wood burner on a converted railway line. Relax in your own private hot tub with only the local cows for company. Or explore the nearby woods, go swimming, fishing & boating on the magical freshwater lake. A perfect break for couples or a solo traveller wanting to unwind. For updates check "Free Range Escapes" on social media
The shepherd's hut is based at Cornish Tipi Holidays/Weddings also known as Tregildrans Quarry and this is our beautiful second hut at this unique site. Both huts have their own individual character, the biggest difference is that Bluebell hut has its own wood fired couples hot tub - perfect for relaxing in style in the great outdoors. The site has a woodland valley folded around a clear, spring-fed lake created from the old quarry. The hut is at the top of a secret 20 acres clothed in ferns and bluebells, oak and meadowsweet. Undisturbed by modern agrochemicals and herbicides the natural ecosystem has flourished, providing a thriving habitat for flowers and butterflies, birds and mammals. It’s a place a world apart from the rush and clutter of the modern holiday experience, with an atmosphere that makes you forget the world outside, and just lounge, ramble, or potter about in a boat. The Shepherd's Hut itself is situated in a recently reclaimed part of the site on the old railway line which was taken out in the 60's, reclaimed by nature until now! Guests will have full access to the whole site & all its faculties. 20 acres of woodland to explore and a freshwater lake to swim, boat and fish in. As well as your own secluded garden space complete with an open fire and garden furniture & couples wood fired hot tub. The shepherds hut has its own private compositing loo and wooden shower shed (made partly from pallets) both outside. You are of course allowed full access to any of the other loo/shower blocks on site. There is also electricity!! Solar powered lights & USB sockets make it easy to charge items or read a book after the sun goes down. However please be aware that there are not any standard plug sockets in the hut. The aim is to have created a space which makes you feel like you are out in nature & the elements but with more comfort than basic camping.
At Free Range Escapes you are a five minute drive from some of the prettiest villages and most spectacular coastline in Cornwall. You can buy fresh mackerel, scallops and crab in the fish cellars at Port Isaac within 10 minutes of leaving your Shepherd's Hut, go sea kayaking under soaring cliffs at Port Quin or take a surfing class on Polzeath’s trend setting shoreline. We have some phenomenal walking right on our doorstep; the Cornwall Coastal Footpath, the Saints’ Way, but unfortunately a car is still usually needed to get you there. 15 minutes up the coast brings you to Tintagel Castle and the ancient village of Boscastle, and the same distance inland lets you walk the rugged solitude of Bodmin Moor. We have a variety of good shops, pubs and restaurants in the area including the now nationally famous Seafood Restaurant in Padstow – book a return with the late water taxi across the moonlit estuary from Rock for a special evening out. You can go on fishing trips, bird watching walks, sea safaris, sailing and windsurfing courses, learn to ride, golf, play tennis, see a touring theatre production, work in watercolours, take a master class in seafood cookery, explore Cornish history, attend a music or literary festival, or just go cycling together on the beaufiful Camel Trail nearby. If you’re prepared to go a little further afield try a day trip by tiny plane to the glorious Isles of Scilly off Land’s End, or a trip to the Minack Theatre set outside on the cliffs high above Porthcurno, or closer by visit the massive biodomes of the ever popular Eden Project.
  • The best get-away from London we've ever had. Absolutely perfect.

  • Great location. Beautiful place to get away from it all. Loved the wood burning hot tub.

  • If you want a wildness escape with a bit of pampering thrown in this is the place for you. We loved every second in Gosels hut, the hot tub was the highlight of our stay in the area. All the towns are around a 5 min drive away and it’s super easy to navigate the small Cornish roads. Defiantly recommend getting the ferry from Rock to Padstow and St Kew Inn (both recommendations from Gosel to us). Don’t forget your wellies! We will defiantly be back!

  • Wow! What a wonderful location. We had such a relaxed cosy weekend in this lovely apartment. Who needs to put the TV on with a view like this one! So handy for coastal walks, beach time and relaxing. We also had a really fantastic evening meal at The Catch ( underneath).

    Lisa2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • We booked a two night stay, starting on Jan 28th. The place was easy to find, and warm and welcoming on arrival. Key safe check-in made everything easy. The place was spotless, with all the everyday essentials to hand. Although compact, the flat was stylishly decorated, and easy to relax in. Right next door is a comfy pub with good food, and on the other side, a well-stocked local shop. The only disappointment was that the seafood restaurant beneath the flat wasn’t open during our stay. (Only weekends in low season.) The best bit; the VIEW! Fantastic vista from the lounge area, straight onto the sandy beach. Watching the waves crashing in was mesmerising. Didn’t need the TV. As the beach is dog-friendly, our two boys are still worn out!

  • Great little flat in a lovely location.

    Tina2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • A property set in a perfect location where you can watch the sea roll in from the lounge window. Warm and cozy accommodation with an excellent restaurant below. Very helpful and accommodating owner.

  • This beach hut was such an unexpected surprise! It is clean and warm (so nice to come to the hut after all day of exploring Cornwall) and is equipped with all the bits and bobs you will need. It was a real bliss to stay in the hut and the seaview is out of this world. I feel very lucky we could stay there.

  • Beautiful spot and always a restorative escape!

    Jenny2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely lovely lodge in a beautiful location. The wood is peaceful and private, and you're surrounded by nature. The lodge is cosy and comfortable, and the woodburner heats the room very effectively. We had a lovely time getting away from it all, wandering around the woods and along the river then back to snuggle up in front of the fire. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend, and we'll be back again before too long!

    Ian & Rosie2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing stay at Simon's place! The cabin is beautifully located right next to a stream with lots of nice walks nearby. The wood burning stove keeps the place nice and warm and you have all the basic utensils you could need for a short stay. The location is gorgeous and the stars are just beautiful on clear night. We can't wait to come and stay here again!

  • Had a great stay in the Shepherds hut, everything was great from comms with Gosel to the actual stay. Loved the hot tub and how cosy the hut was even in horrendous weather. Highly recommend this stay!

    Richard2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • A great little private space for us to get away. Loved boating on the lake, and sitting in the hot tub in gale force winds! Thanks to Gosel for all the local tips too. See you again!

    Paul2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Magnificent, magical, marvellous... All the M's. Words can't describe how much my husband and I loved our time away in Elderflower. Gosel, the hut, the land, the lake, the location; it all exceeded our expectations. We will most certainly be back - as soon as humanly possible. You must stay here!

    Rebecca2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay on Valentine’s weekend. The location is perfect, with plenty of things to do around the area. We didn’t have a chance to use the lake due to the weather, however, the hot tub was an excellent addition. The home was cosy, warm and clean. We will definitely be visiting again.

    Owen2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time staying at the Shepherd’s hut! Excellent location and friendly host! Would highly recommend!

    Jamie2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you to Gosel for being such a great host. The Elderflower hut at Free Range Escapes was idyllic and had everything we could possibly need for our New Years break. The hot tub was a great extra, which was lovely at night under the stars. The private lake with rowing boats and canoes was so much fun. The local area had great fishing villages to go and explore during the day, and then to come back to a log burner and a comfy bed was the perfect end to a perfect stay. We will definitely be back to stay again. Thanks Gosel!

    Hannah2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • The hut is amazing! Absolutely stunning location and really homely and cosy inside! Gosel is a fantastic host All the little extra touches make this place so special! Will definitely be coming back when the weather is a bit nicer!

  • Wow!! What a super house. Was perfect for our group. Iain was really friendly and made everything very easy for us.

    Jenny2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • This house is stunning, the pictures on here are lovely but they cannot do it justice with the amazing modern and spacious rooms. We had all 3 rentals and they were all 5 star. There was 15 of us in total and we all said how amazing the house is and no one wanted to leave. So much room no one was on top of each other. We were there for my partners 40th and I brought a cake but forgot the candles! I didn’t need to worry though as there were brand new candles in the drawer (saved the day, can’t have a birthday cake without a wish). The house had everything you could need and more. It was spotlessly clean throughout. It had the latest music system and great underfloor heating. Which in February we needed lol. Iain was very friendly and informative and it was great how we could access it earlier. Rachael was very quick to reply to my questions and an excellent host. The location is stunning it is rural with lovely views over fields. We had some food in Wadebridge and then got taxis’s back to the house. It was a very a short journey. Polzeath is also only a short drive which has a stunning beach. The book of the journey to build the house was fascinating and it truly is a Grand Design. I couldn’t recommend this place enough and hopefully will return in the future.

Great location, as it easy to get to Wadebridge, Padstow and Polzeath. Fab hosts too, they couldn’t have made it easier for us. I would highly recommend if you are looking for a lovely place to stay in Cornwall.

We look forward to welcoming you to our very special place by the sea.
We have created a light and airy space, for you and your party to enjoy the breathtaking views out to sea and over the beautiful river valley. The dining table seats 10 in comfort, for memorable mealtimes. The well equipped kitchen has a 5 hob halogen hob, with two fan ovens below. There is a dishwasher, microwave and Nespresso coffee machine. We have a large American fridge freezer with plenty of space. The kitchen is equipped with a long list of tools and utensils, and there are plentiful supplies of crockery and glasses. We have 5 bedrooms, including the stunning master bedroom, with bifold doors onto its own terrace, and two of the other bedrooms with French doors onto the deck. There are 4 bathrooms ( 2 with baths, all with showers, WC & washbasins). The house is set at the end of a lane, and has its own gated parking for 3/4 cars ( extra parking in the lane if required) The garden is fully fenced/walled in so is suitable for dogs The house has central heating and plentiful supplies of hot water The beach is a 5 minute walk over the headland, and the SW Coastal path is 2 minutes from the house.
Porthcothan Bay, a beautiful , sandy, surfing beach,is situated a 5 minute walk over the headland in front of the house. Porthcothan is a quiet bay , with a pub ( open all year) and a beach shop open from April to October. The village of St.Merryn situated 3 miles away has a convenience store, bakery and petrol station, as well as a number of pubs, restaurants and take aways. The fishing town of Padstow is situated 5 miles to the North, and the town of Newquay ( with airport and railway station ) is 10 miles to the south.
  • This place is beautiful. Just how it is in pictures, nothing is deceiving! There is so much space and the hot tub was incredible. Even on a windy/wet weekend we made the most of the beach which was only a 5 minute walk down the hill and had a Sunday lunch at the Tredrea Pub just at the end of the lane. Everything about this house was spotless and perfect! Newquay only being 25 mins away was perfect for a day out exploring and probably the cheapest taxi we’ve ever paid for on a night out. 10/10 for everything!

    Megan2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • The house is beautiful- perfect for a family get together with lots of social space. Often with holiday homes you can find yourselves fighting over the bathrooms but there are 4 in the house so this wasn’t a problem. The views are stunning and the location on the coast path is fantastic but still private as the house faces away from the coast path over the village. Everything was clean and several of our guests commented on how well equipped the kitchen was. There was nothing else we could have needed! I would definitely recommend the property and would love to go back when we’re not in the midst of Storm Dennis!

    Grace2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Really lovely holiday home. Excellent communication with David for any concerns or information needed. Home was spacious, clean, accommodating, modern with really lovely views. Hot tub was an added bonus. Would definitely come back especially in the summer.

    Natasha2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent facilities, really well decorated, friendly fast communication, lovely location, perfect for a rest & recuperation in beautiful surroundings, hopefully we will come back again.

    Dave2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • We returned to David’s place for the 2nd time this year as we enjoyed it so much the first time. A lovely house with gorgeous views. Very well equipped kitchen - had everything we needed and more for our Christmas roast dinner! We really appreciated the Prosecco that had been left in the fridge for our arrival - thank you. • Lovely cottage in the perfect location . On a quiet one way street just a minute out of Port Isaac. Very easy to check in and the cottage was spotlessly clean . Nice and warm too . My husband is 6ft 3 and had an interesting time coming down the stairs , he could only come down backwards as the head height was restricted, the rest of the cottage was fine tho. I would recommend this place as it was in a perfect spot and great value for money .

  • Fiona's home is perfectly located in Port Issac. It is spotlessly clean, and very warm and cosy. Fiona is always quick to respond if you have any queries. There was lots of information available about the area and other places to explore. Would definitely come back to this quaint cottage.

    Keely2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • Although the house is small, it had everything I needed and it is in a great location, right in the village, handy to restaurants, pubs and shopping. In my opinion Port Isaac is the best fishing village in Cornwall, so picturesque and centrally located for day trips all around Cornwall.

    Elizabeth2019-10-09T00:00:00Z

Small Studio Apartment, above Jo Downs Handmade Glass in Padstow. Centrally located in the heart of Padstow. Kitchenette for basic cooking only. This is a one room bedsit with a shower room /toilet. The majority of guests have found this convenient but a small number of very tall guests have found the toilet difficult to use easily.
Located above the Jo Downs Handmade Glass gallery at the corner of Middle Street and Church Street.
Padstow has established itself over the past few decades as a go to location for holiday makers visiting Cornwall. With award winning restaurants and Rick Stein's Bistro it is very popular food lovers. A lovely fishing village harbour makes it a popular picture postcard destination.
  • the flat is small but has all we needed for our stay and the location is fabulous

    Philip2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • A fantastic studio apartment right in the heart of Padstow and 2 minutes walk from the harbour. Excellent facilities and warm and cosy with easy access. Really recommend for a stay in Padstow. Spa shop at end of road and cafes and restaurants near for breakfast lunch and tea. I had a wonderful stay.

    Janet2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • It’s exactly as described. A small studio room on the first floor of a building right in the town of Padstow. Everything you need.

  • A lovely small studio in the centre of Padstow. Looks exactly like it does in the pictures. Fresh and clean. Comfy bed. This was the second time we stayed here.

    Tracey2019-12-12T00:00:00Z
  • This apartment is in the perfect location, right by all of the shops, pubs, restaurants etc. Check in was an absolute breeze, safe lock for the keys so you don't need to worry if you arrive late about bothering anyone. There is a pub right outside the flat (bear this in mind for the evenings, can get a little loud ) There is a shortcut up some stairs to the right as you leave the apartment to a car park which is only £3 for 24 hours, this was perfect for our stay. The place was clean and tidy, the only downside is the toilet space, it's a little snug. But other than that, we would definitely consider staying here again

Really nicely decorated and nice little touches which make it feel like home from home, blankets and cushions, white company toiletries etc! Great to also have use of communal iron and having a dishwasher in the kitchen area is a definite bonus! Parking is close by which is really handy and our dog loved it too! Would never have thought they would be allowed in there as it so nice and clean! Bed was comfy too. We had a great weekend and will definitely be back :)

  • A great value boot hole with great location for a short stay in Padstow

    Nick2019-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • This place is lovely and finished off really well quality furniture and fittings. The bed is absolutely superb and the bedroom is very quiet. Because the house has been converted you can sometimes here the people moving around in the flat above and in the communal areas but this is to be expected and not at all intrusive. The location is just perfect and everything is within 5 minutes walking distance. Thanks Paula, it’s a fab place to stay.

Set in the picturesque town of Padstow and only a 3 minute walk into town The Lilac room is the perfect place from which to explore the stunning North Cornish coast. Padstow is famed for it's range of dining experiences for any time of the day. There are plenty of breakfast options in the town, our favourite being the Chough bakery that is open early, a take away croissant and a coffee whilst sitting by the harbour, you cant beat it! To avoid disappointment we recommend booking a restaurant for your evening meal. We highly recommend ‘The Seafood’ ‘St Petroc’s’ ‘No.6’ ‘Rojano’s’ and ‘Prawn on the lawn’.
  • We really enjoyed the stay at Gary. We were warmly welcomed, the room is tastefully decorated to a high standard. Although not advertised, we were each morning delicious cereal and milk provided, thank you. Thank you very much for the great hospitality, we can only highly recommend this host and hope that in the future we will once again have the opportunity to stay there as a guest.

  • Amazing space so close to Padstow harbour. Literally a few minutes walk from the dock, even quicker if you use the shortcut between the opposite hotel. Gary was very warm and welcoming. The room is full of quaint little touches and has everything you need; tea, coffee, cereal, milk, iron, DAB radio and even a little dram of sherry! Lots of nice little touches and the room was sparkling clean! Our room overlooked the established gardens full of lovey flowers and shrubs. The front of the property has a delightful decking area with seating which overlooks the sea. We enjoyed our breakfast here and even took some drinks before we went out. Parking on site too, can’t beat this quaint b&b for location or hospitality.

  • Jane saved us in our time of need, after arriving to our original booking and finding a horror show we were strand looking for somewhere new to stay, luckily for us jane had a cancellation for our dates and came to our rescue at 11pm! All messages were responded to quickly and in depth. Jane's place is cosy and just right for 2 people visiting, the location is excellent and was not even 5 mins drive from the harbour making it easy to pop in and out when we wanted. Its location meant we could also pop out to newquay, lizard point and gweek in the car, we even made a dash to Constantine bay to see the most beautiful sunset as we see it from the room. Jane and her place made our trip so much better than it started out and even changed our minds to actually wanting to visit again in the future. I can certainly say it is a great pick!

  • Without a doubt the best air bnb service we’ve ever had. Rob & Deb are the standard by which all Airbnb’s should be set. Can’t recommend them enough. The apartment was, lovely, spotless and perfectly stocked. They even left a bottle of Bubbles for my wife’s birthday. Easy walking distance from Padstow port. Perfect if, like us, you’re off to Rick Steins. So happy...

  • The apartment is in a great location for a visit to Padstow and takes just a few minutes to walk down to the centre. It is spotlessly clean and we arrived to flowers and a bottle of Prosecco for my birthday which was really thoughtful. Parking was not a problem at all and there is a Tesco across the road which you can get bits from if needed. Rob and Debbie have left lots of information on things to do in the local area which is good if you’re looking for inspiration! The apartment was good value for money and was ideal for our long weekend break.

    Emma2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • What a great little place to stay. So much to do in the area. The apartment had everything we needed. It was cosy, warm and comfortable. Debbie and Rob are excellent hosts. They responded extremely promptly to messages and gave us some recommendations on places to eat and pubs to relax in. We appreciated the extra touches including a bottle of prosecco and fresh flowers. Everything was very clean and well looked after. Thank you Rob and Debbie.

  • Just back from another visit to this wonderful apartment. It’s clean, well equipped and centrally located for Padstow. We took the ferry to rock as we booked The Mariners for Sunday lunch which was exceptional and then took the bus to Harlyn then walked back to Padstow along the SW coastal path on another day. For price, location and amenities would highly recommend.

We atayed for a couple of nights and will definitely revisit this beautiful cottage. Jane is an amazing host who has thought of everything, little touches that really made our stay truly wonderful. Thank you Jane!

  • We loved the look of the place when we booked but were even more impressed when we got there. It felt like a home from home. The little touches from the cream tea to the bits and pieces in the kitchen. Everything we needed for a wonderful stay was there. Jane was very helpful and a great host. We can’t wait to book again.

Welcome to Grove Cottage, our little gem in the heart of Padstow. The cottage is situated in a little residential terrace just minutes away from the harbour and bustling old town, guaranteeing you peace and quiet while being close to the action. This cosily renovated traditional fisherman’s cottage has all the conveniences you need today but still has retained some of its original features such as the exposed beams, wooden floor and uneven walls.
Inside, Grove Cottage comprises of an open plan downstairs kitchen/diner and living area. Upstairs you will find the bright, spacious bathroom with bathtub and overhead shower and the cosy bedroom with a double bed. Outside, the little sunny courtyard terrace invites to relax with a cream tea in the afternoon or glass of wine at the end of a busy day. The beautiful harbour and the town’s many pubs, award winning restaurants and shops are only a short stroll away. Parking: As with many town centre properties there is no car park with the cottage but there are several car parks only a few minutes walk away. The closest is the Link Road Car Park, which is only a few minutes walk away and you avoid having to drive through the busy village. The cost is between £1.00 and £6.00 per day - depending on the season. Park in the left hand corner and follow the steps leading down towards the church.
Padstow has become one of the most popular holiday destinations in Cornwall as there is something for everyone to enjoy just around the corner. The town has established itself as a foodie heaven with several award winning restaurants. We recommend reserving your table at Rick Steins, Paul Ainsworths' No 6 or Prawn on the Lawn well in advance. The old established Padstow pubs also serve delicious food – the choice is yours. In May come along and witness the traditional May Day Celebrations or visit the Padstow Christmas Celebrations in December, an event that becomes popular each year. There are several beautiful beaches close by and too many breath-taking coastal walks to mention. The Eden Project isn’t far as are several of the beautiful gardens Cornwall has to offer. For a rainy day, Prideaux Place in Padstow is well work a visit as is stunning Lanhydrock close to Bodmin. The list goes on. Please just ask, we are happy to help.
  • Lovely spot and a lovely trip. The property is clean, cosy, charming & very well situated. We had a great week.

    Hannah2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time in this cosy cottage. Everything we needed was provided and a bottle of wine was a thoughtful touch. Easy walking distance to harbour, pubs and reastaurants

    Carol2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Claudia, was a wonderful and flexible host, great cottage in Padstow!

    Steve2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Although we did not meet Claudia, we were in touch with her and had a very smooth check in and check out. The cottage was clean, cosy and there were thoughtful touches waiting for us. It is down a little alleyway off Church Lane and not great for parking though this was no issue for us. The cottage is in a perfect place to explore Padstow and the south west coast path. In under a minute you can be on the harbour front, it’s that close to the heart of Padstow. We would highly recommend eating at Barnabys or Prawn on the Lawn whilst you are visiting as these are truly exceptional restaurants outside the Rick Stein/Paul Ainsworth monopolies (but book in advance!). In terms of facilities, the kitchen was well stocked and great for cooking in, the bed was comfy with good sheets and the cottage was very warm the whole time. The only downside was that we struggled with the (electric) shower and had to have baths each day instead but we managed.

    Ellie2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • A perfect little cottage in the middle of beautiful Padstow. We had a lovely time at Grove Place and hope to return soon .

One of the most iconic buildings in Padstow, Marble Arch Cottage is truly unique. Think bijou, petite and memorable. The accommodation is laid out over two floors, both set above street level so whilst you are close to the heart of the town, you'll find the cottage feels secluded and private. Step into Marble Arch passageway and then slip in through the cottages's narrow door and you will immediately feel in another world. Well appointed and cosy the Cottage is close to all that Padstow has to offer including great eateries and spectacular walks and fantastic beaches.
Great for Couples, or couples with baby (no cot at property). One small dog possible but downstairs please. WiFi and smart TV. The property is cleaned professionally after every client’s departure.
Great for foodies as you probably know! Best to pre book Steins, Prawn on the Lawn and Paul Ainsworth's. Do not miss the walk to Hawkers cove or Padstow farm shop and Trevone.
  • Great property to stay in to explore Padstow as so close to the harbour and all of the restaurants, shops and pubs. The property itself is great, very quaint and a great use of space with all the amenities you would need for a stay.

    Thomas2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great location with everything in Padstow on your doorstop. Walking distance to some of the best food we’ve ever eaten, special mention go to No.6 Paul Ainsworth and Prawn on the Lawn. Cosy and quirky cottage perfect for 2, with good selection of dvds and books for a quiet night in when all eating and drinking gets too much! We loved it :)

    Becky2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you for a truly wonderful stay! We absolutely adored Marble Arch Cottage and wouldn't hesitate to rebook for our next visit. The space is compact, but this adds to the Cottage's charm; it's stylish, historic, and effortlessly cool. Small touches like the cream tea or the cozy throws left on the sofa (perfect for snuggling up with a book in) were just fantastic little extras.

    Felicity2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second stay in 3 months. Fabulous property for 2, heavenly bed, tastefully and thoughtfully decorated for Christmas, and a lovely touch leaving mince pies, clotted cream and a pint of milk. Can not recommend highly enough

    Jayne2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at the Marble Arch. It is a 2 minute walk to the centre of Padstow which was great! The cottage was homely and spotless!

Off the beaten track yet just 3 miles from Padstow... Quiet & cosy single storey cottage with double bedroom, bathroom & open plan kitchen/dining/living area. Small 2nd bedroom has narrow 2'6" built-in bunks (suitable for kids only). Situated just behind our house on The Saints Way, surrounded rolling Cornish countryside. St Issey is located 3 miles from the beautiful fishing port of Padstow, a foodie heaven. The famous "7 Bays for 7 days" & the Camel Trail are all within 12 minutes drive. Wi-fi
The cottage has a cosy, open-plan living/dining/kitchen with electric cooker & microwave. There is a king size double bedroom & small bunk room. The bunks are 2'6" wide (normal single beds are 3") so really suitable for children only, though small adults have stayed in them. There is a large bathroom with bath with shower over & a washing machine. The cottage is centrally heated with radiators. We finally have Wi-Fi too!
The cottage is just behind our house, but has it's own drive way. We're on one side of a river valley (well a stream valley!) & there are lovely views across the fields to St Issey church. We're off the beaten track but can be in the centre of Padstow within 5 minutes.
  • Super helpful host, beautiful location with everything you need.

  • My friend and I had such a lovely stay. The place was in the perfect location to get to and from padstow as well as other Cornwall towns and villages, the cottage was also quiet and allowed us to have a very relaxing countryside break. The cottage was quaint and so clean. I would definitely recommend this place to others!

    Christine2020-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • Very rural position yet only 5 minutes from Padstow and 15 from Wadebridge. Ideal for a couple small family. Thoroughly recommended.

    Stephen2020-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful peaceful cottage tucked away, with only the sound of sheep and birds in the daytime and the occasional out in the evening. The space was very well equipped, extremely clean, and warm. Sarah was the perfect host, and very knowledgeable about the area. We were given some very useful tips about local walks and places to eat, all of which we try to follow up. We had a lovely birthday meal at the nearby Pickwick in, which is highly recommended if you are staying with Sarah. Although, I cannot fault The accommodation, and hope to visit again very soon.

While Cornwall is famous for it's raw majestic beauty, there are still some relatively undiscovered little gems, such as Porthilly, on the Camel Estuary. Aptly named ‘Little Tides’, this beautifully converted stone barn is conveniently located only meters from Porthilly beach.
The spacious, light living area is open plan with a slate floor and exposed beams; stairs lead up to a mezzanine bedroom with wood flooring and vaulted ceiling. Accommodation Summary: • Open plan living area with TV and Wifi. • Kitchen with electric oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher, washer/dryer and fridge/freezer. • Bathroom with bath and shower (towels included). • Mezzanine Bedroom 1: Kingsize bed (linen included). • A travel cot is available on request for a baby in arms. • Ample parking. • Undercover wetsuit and bike storage. • Meters from Porthilly beach (beach chairs stored at the property for your use). • Use of a private boat park should you wish to bring kayaks or a boat.
    • At high tide this is an easy place to learn the art of stand up paddle-boarding; hire a board from the ski school or even have a lesson. • Walk across the beach and onto the coastal path that leads all the way around the dunes to Daymer Bay, Polzeath, Pentire Point and beyond. • From Padstow you can hire a bike and cycle the Camel Trail to explore the shops of Wadebridge, or venture a little further to the Camel Valley Vineyard to sample a glass of award winning Cornish champagne. • Perhaps stroll up the hill in Padstow to visit Prideaux Place, an Elizabethan manor house or walk out to Stepper Point with its panoramic sea views of the estuary and Atlantic ocean. • In the evening, why not walk across the beach to The Mariners, a contemporary pub and restaurant overlooking the estuary. • Porthilly is just a 10 minute drive from the fishing village of Port Isaac, made famous by the TV series Doc Martin. Here you can enjoy fine dining at the award winning 'Restaurant Nathan Outlaw', or a fresh crab sandwich at 'Fresh from the Sea'.
  • Really enjoyed our stay at little tides, it had everything we needed and in such a great location right on the beach! Everything was very clean and well presented. Carolanne and her husband were very friendly they even brought us fresh mussels and oysters from their family farm to try. Perfect getaway with our dog - lots of lovely walks and the cottage is only about a mile away from the ferry crossing over to padstow which was really easy to use. Would definitely recommend!!

    Nick2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • I cannot recommend Little Tides highly enough. Great location which is an ideal base for exploring the north coast of Cornwall and only a short walk to the local bars and restaurants, even quickerif the tide is out! Carolanne is a great host and she has thought of everything - plenty of implements, pots and pans if you fancy cooking; ideal if you sample some if the farm's mussels which were kindly offered. The accommodation was spotless and ticked every one of our boxes. A fabulous few days.

    Alistair2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Little Tides is just a lovely place to get away from everything - nestled away in Porthilly Cove you have excellent access to the most idyllic little beach/cove, which at low tide allows you to walk across the beach to the fantastic local pub (which serves the mussels and oysters from the farm!). Once in Rock you can also hop on the Black Tor ferry across to Padstow to sample all of the delights on offer the other side of the estuary. Come rain or shine we love our time at Little Tides!

    Chris2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • A fantastic little cottage, in a great location. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The Mariners is a great pub and only 12 minutes walk, or even shorter if the tide is out along the beach. The walk to Polzeath is also very picturesque. We definitely hope to return!

    Emily2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful little gem- very cosy, clean and well styled. Car is a must but lovely location by the beach. Host friendly and helpful.

Situated at the end of the High St & Fentonluna Lane with fabulous estuary views and a sunrise to look out for, 'tis aptly named.

A small b&b within only a stone's throw of the harbour and in the midst of the shops and restaurants of this lovely Cornish harbour town. We only let one double bedroom with an ensuite cloakroom with bathroom adjacent. Our price includes breakfast.
Great location in the middle of town close to shops, pubs, and restaurants.

I very much appreciated Pam giving me newspapers to stuff into my soaked shoes for drying. We really enjoyed our stay!

THE TRACTOR SHED AT MESMEAR, POLZEATH SLEEPS 2 + 2 This modern, open plan holiday barn has been beautifully converted from the farm's original Tractor Shed. Thoughtfully designed for couples, those with small children, and single occupants. The wood burner makes it perfect for holidays at any time of year. It has everything you would expect to find in a much larger property. Has a private BBQ & seating area. * There is sufficient room to place an extra bed as well as cot - please enquire
The Tractor Shed is less than 1 mile from Polzeath beach and close to Rock and Padstow. The quaint fishing village of Port Isaac, home to Doc Martin and the Fisherman's Friends is close by.
Close to stunning beaches and countryside with walks straight from the door.
  • My husband, 4 month old baby and I had a wonderful stay at the Tractor Shed. Mesmear is a wonderful farm which guests are free to explore. The pool is an added bonus which you wouldn’t get with many other holiday rentals. Vicki goes out of her way to welcome guests and offer recommendations for the local area. The Tractor Shed itself is a stunning cosy space. We had a truly lovely stay and hope to return again in the future.

    Claire2019-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • Wow, what can I say! My partner and have just returned from one of the best weekends we've had. We booked on the day of arrival and from that moment Vicki could not have been more helpful! The accommodation was amazing as well as the farm itself with all of the animals and amenities it really felt like home! Vicki was really helpful giving us tips and information about experiences in the local area.....we've already started to discuss a return trip later this year! I would reccomend to all whether couples or family groups it will suit all! Thank you Vicki :)

    Alex2019-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • I decided to book 4 nights in the Tractor Shed for me, my wife and our 7 month old baby as Emma (my wife!) is going back to work from maternity leave very soon. We were recommended to stay somewhere between Polzeath and Port Isaac and this location is perfect for both. The property itself was perfect for our family and Vicki set it up as if it was a home from home - honestly, a wonderful, thoughtful host. The Tractor Shed is loaded with everything you’ll need for your trip (including an amazing bath and walk-in shower!) and there is a great space out back for a BBQ (we had two during our stay). The surrounding area is a farm and Vicki has pigs, chickens and Alpaca’s which can all be fed - the look on our daughter’s face seeing the animals was priceless... I could ramble on about this for a while - but instead, all I can say is check Mesmear out - you won’t be disappointed.

All the amenities and attractions of Padstow Town are within 5 mins walk. For food lovers, there are many fabulous restaurants in the town as well as cafes, pubs and bars. Notably Rick Stein's eateries such as the Seafood Restaurant, Cafe, Deli and Fish and Chip 'shop' as well as Paul Ainsworth's Michelin Starred No. 6 and Rojanos, are moments away. Across the estuary in Rock, Felix Craft's Restaurant is at the St. Enodoc Hotel. Nathan Outlaw has two restaurants in Port Isaac as well as part owning the Mariner's in Rock. The local craft shops and galleries in Padstoware an attraction in themselves as well as the tempting local fudge. For outdoor lovers the Camel Trail, a disused railway track, is also minutes walk from the apartment for traffic free walking or cycling. There are food shops within walking distance in the village and a larger supermarket up the road. The area is famous for its surfing and several beaches are within easy reach.
  • Amazing apartment with a fantastic view. Exactly as described and with a few bits for breakfast as a welcome. The location was great and the path in the front garden enabled easy access into Padstow.

A beautiful, contemporary, character cottage tucked away in a quaint lane in the centre of the historic town of Padstow. The perfect retreat in a perfect location, the cottage is nicely nestled away yet still only a minute's walk to the harbour. The town has a superb range of restaurants including those of Rick Stein and Paul Ainsworth, all within a minute's walk. Shorter breaks can be offered for certain weeks so please always enquire if the calendar does not allow your specified dates.
A beautifully presented cottage with a warming atmosphere. Laid over three floors, there is a twin room on the ground floor, double room and wet room on the first floor and an open plan living area with a lovely modern kitchen and views over the rooftops to the estuary on the second floor. The living area has a comfortable corner sofa, an armchair looking out over the view, dining table and chairs to seat four and a fully equipped kitchen.
Padstow is a lively harbour town with a fantastic range of restaurants, bars, pubs and shops. Well known for the gourmet restaurants of famous chefs Rick Stein and Paul Ainsworth, the town is home to several stylish places to eat and drink. The harbour offers a beautiful and ever changing scene, you can also walk to the stunning beaches along the Camel Estuary.
  • We had an absolutely wonderful week in the cottage which has everything needed to just move right in and even had a cream tea and some milk! We spent most evenings in due to the awful weather but the cottage was cosy and welcoming and in the best location for just popping out to the local pub or shop! It was a great base for exploring the area and nothing seemed too far away. The lack of parking proved to not be a problem due to the tip of the carpark at the top of town being 5 min walk away! Provided ample space for 2 adults and 1 11 year old (and there was another bed in the room our son stayed in so could have another person). Thank you so much for a wonderful stay and we would not hesitate to rent Pearl Cottage again!

  • The apartment is beautifully presented, with top notch amenities. Everything was perfect, we could not have wanted anything more from an apartment, from its position, to its decor, its wood-burning stove, its cleanliness, its high end bathroom and kitchen appliances... the list goes on. Thank you for your hospitality.

  • The Long Room was absolutely stunning! It looked wonderful in the pictures, but the reality was even better, we were completely blown away when we walked in! This apartment is pure luxury. Everything is of a really high quality, and it's sparkling clean. There are lovely touches - like the welcome basket with snacks and a bottle of Prosecco –which was an unexpected, but very welcome, treat! We loved the log burner too which made for a very cosy evening in after a long lunch nearby. The location is fantastic - we had bookings in a couple of restaurants (Prawn on the Lawn and Paul Ainsworth at Number 6) and we were no more than a couple of minutes walk from both of them, as well as the harbour. Having the secure parking is a real bonus too. Check in was really easy, and communication was great all the way through. Very highly recommended!

Right in the heart of the famous village of Port Isaac, this little cottage is just a few steps from the harbour. Full of character, with low ceilings and bijou rooms, this is a proper old Cornish cottage! Fisherman's Cottage has the advantage of TWO free parking spaces just 150m away!
This small but atmospheric cottage is just a few steps from the harbour in the heart of the famous village of Port Isaac. The living room / diner and separate kitchen are both limited in size and headroom but that is all part of the charm of staying in a cottage such as this in the middle of such a wonderful village. The bedrooms are both twins (due to the difficulty of getting large furniture upstairs) and located on the first and second floor. Stepping out of the stable door onto Middle Street is like stepping into pure Cornwall! A lovely narrow lane leading to the charming harbour and beach that Port Isaac is so famous for. The Slipway Hotel, the pubs, the coffee shops and of course Doc Martin's house are all here. Please bear in mind that Fisherman's Cottage is an old cottage with narrow steep stairs, low ceilings and of limited size. Accommodation Ground Floor: Compact living room and dining room. Small fully fitted kitchen. First Floor: Twin bedroom and bathroom. Second Floor: Twin bedroom with sea glimpses from the window. Facilities & Services Heating is via night storage heaters. The kitchen has a range of equipment. There is an electric oven and hob, a microwave, toaster, kettle and fridge with freezer box. Miscellaneous Electricity, heating, bed linen & towels are all included but you will need to provide your own beach towels. Regrettably no smoking or dogs are allowed. General Booking Information Arrival / Departure is normally a Friday. Short breaks are available during quieter periods. £100 pre-authorised to your credit or debit card as a security deposit is required.
Port Isaac, tucked away on the North Coast between Padstow and Boscastle, has recently been home to the television series 'Doc Martin' with Martin Clunes. Although previous years have seen the series Poldark film here and in nearby Port Quinn. Much of the village is 18th and 19th century and there a wonderful narrow streets and alleyways to explore. It is a maze of narrow lanes and pathways known as "drangs" with only one road through, along which traffic is discouraged. The houses are traditional stone built, slate hung cottages. As with many places in Cornwall, once having relied heavily on fishing and fish processing, the village now caters for many visitors with plenty of shops and eateries for the frequent visitors. In the heart of the village are a pub, two hotels, two cafe / bistros. There are other pubs and a cafe at the top of the village. There is a bakery, delicatessen, fishmongers and a well stocked Coop supermarket. Fish may also be bought from the local fishmerchants in the fish cellars by the harbour. There are also the usual art and craft shops. Those interested in fishing may hire a local boat and fisherman. Kayaking may also be arranged in the village. The National Trust coastal path runs through the village and provides spectacular walks over the cliffs. Many places of interest are in easy reach: Pencarrow House, Tintagel, The Eden Project, the Lost Gardens of Heligan along with many others. Padstow is close by with its many restaurants and attractions. It can be visited by the foot ferry from Rock and trips may be made out to sea, with puffins on the nearby islands at the right time of year. At Rock there are excellent beaches and boats may be hired from the sailing school along with windsurfers. Other good sandy beaches are at Polzeath and Trebarwith, both of which cater for windsurfing. There is also Daymer Bay, a famous windsurfing spot. From Daymer, it is just a short walk to St. Enedoc church where Sir John Betjeman is buried. Wadebridge has shops of interest and makes a pleasant wander round.
  • Excellent location and a quaint experience staying in an authentic fisherman’s cottage in an authentic fisherman’s village.

  • If anyone loves the PBS show Doc Martin, this is the place to go. The Fishermans Cottage, is walking distance to everything. The other great thing is the parking spaces, that come with this Airbnb. This time of year would be a great time to come. My wife and I live in Newport Beach, and our friends live in Poole, in Southern England. We hope to return next year. So hurry and book.

  • Comfortable cottage in very centre of Port Isaac. We had a very enjoyable few days here, had no trouble finding, unloading, and parking. To have a private parking space in the middle of Port Isaac was wonderful. Two decent- sized bedrooms and good kitchen facilities complete the picture.

  • Great place to stay. Very central to everything in the town. Having a car spot is a definite plus rather then having to park in the public car park. We loved port issac

  • The absolute best location. Not suitable for people over 5 foot 10 inches tall or people with mobility problems--built in the 15th century with very low ceilings, very steep stairs. Smells beachy. About 100 feet from the lifeboat station, beach and view of Doc Martin's surgery (now a B&B), Large Cafe (a private home) and Mrs Tishell's Pharmacy (a candy and ice cream shop). Great fresh fish and seafood at the shop right next to the slipway. Everything is totally walkable.

  • The Fisherman's Cottage in picturesque Port Isaac was lovely in every way. Situated steps from the harbor, in the center of this beautiful fisherman's hamlet, we were treated with gorgeous sunsets, finest sea food, delicious beer and the miracle of Cream Tea. The cottage is small, the ceilings are low, as one would expect in such a village where space is a premium, but this only adds to the authenticity of the experience. We lucked out with the weather, clear skies and very warm days, but the cottage cooled down and we slept soundly with the music of sea gulls and waves riding the fresh sea air. My only regret was that our stay was too brief. I look forward to returning to capture more of the Cornwall essence, and The Fisherman's Cottage would be my first stop!
