  • Susan went out of her way to make us welcome with some lovely unexpected touches. Thanks to her kindness and generosity our stay was exceptionally comfortable and relaxing even though the weather decided to throw everything at us. The standard of equipment in our accommodation was outstanding. Everything was spotless and beautifully presented. Communication with Susan was easy and precise, even a thoughtful little message to check that we had everything we needed mid stay. Highly recommended.

    Varaignes, Aquitaine-Limousin-Poitou-Charentes, France

  • Lovely little cottage sensitively renovated keeping its character but all our needs provided for. Well equipped. Bottle of wine on arrival and apples from the garden a nice touch. Location about three miles from Firbeix easy to miss the turning for Les Bordes if arriving in the dark. About 45 minutes from Limoges Airport. Really enjoyed our stay here.

  • Very pleasant stay in this small stone house in a quiet area.

    Mathilde2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • If you want a quiet get-away with beautiful walks in a peaceful hamlet this place is for you. The house is very well equipped with all you need in the kitchen, including basic food stuffs. The bed was very comfortable and we loved the personal touches throughout the characterful house. There is plenty of garden space to sit outside. Maryse is a welcoming host who gave us great tips about the area focusing on what our interests were. We had a lovely chat with her on arrival. It is clearly a much loved house. The surrounding area is beautiful. The village of Mialet, about a 10 minute drive away, has a butcher and baker among other shops as well as a restaurant that serves good food run by an English couple. There are other restaurants within half an hour that offer great food as well. We thoroughly recommend Maryse’s house as a wonderful place to get away in some beautiful countryside.

    Vicki2019-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • The check-in was very straightforward, Maryse is a very accommodating hostess. The equipment is nothing missing, we had everything to be happy. Milk, a bottle of wine, coffee, sugar, enough cooking utensils, also tea, water, everything was ready for us. The small village captivates by the absolute tranquility and by the friendliness of the inhabitants (whether humans or animals). The little black cat named Minette who has chosen the house as a domicile is very cuddly and absolutely lovely. Everything was very good here, the beds were very comfortable, so we often slept longer than planned;) From time to time, a large black neighbor's dog came to visit, but he is also very nice and can be accompanied without problems back to the property. We enjoyed our holiday very much and Maryse was very patient in explaining until we understood everything as our french is not that good. We would gladly go back anytime again!

  • Very nice little house Heartwarming welcome Great host Had a great time at Maryse. GILLES, Maylis and Valerie.

    Valérie2019-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • Maryse's place is now our second home in Les Boards, always great to come back. Fantastic location to explore the area both by foot and driving. In nearby Mialet, the small market is on Tuesday with all the fresh local produce. The butcher is amazing (it's also open other days), and the same fishmonger you will find in larger markets as well. The big market in Thivier is on Saturday, you can find everything from live chickens, plans, utensils, clothes, to various amazing food products. The house is very well equipped and clean. We enjoyed dinners in the beautiful front garden every evening. We are already looking forward to coming back! Thank you, Maryse.

  • It was great ! , says Amélie 8 years old. We must also talk about what we liked adds his mother: quiet, charming location, beauty of the region that we had a great time at Becky. We can only recommend his house! I agree, said the dad (= me)

    Vincent2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Very good accommodation for 4 people; Winter and the fact that it is a little old house plays on the freshness but with a good fire, that is enough to warm up. The kitchen is quite well equipped, we prepared our own meals for 2 days without problems.

    florian2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • My husband, baby and I had a wonderful 3+ weeks staying at Becky's place. It was perfect for us, quiet and rural, cute with everything you need and a brill open plan kitchen/diner/living room. We enjoyed trips to Limoges, Brantôme, St Junien, Perigueaux and Saint Yrieix La Perche (which also has a great swimming pool) and had multiple great lunches at The California in Bussière-Galant. Very highly recommended and thank you again Becky!

  • Loads of space in this charming, quirky cottage. We brought our two dogs who enjoyed the large garden immensely. The cottage had every we needed for our four night stay and we BBQd every evening whilst listening to the goats next door. A lovely, secluded spot which is perfect for a quiet getaway. Becky met us at check-in and was very friendly, relaxed and helpful.

    Marco2019-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • Martine's house is a haven of peace. If you are looking for a quiet place to relax or simply relax and enjoy nature, this house is ideal. We spent a week at 5 with a lot of fun (complete equipment and quality, stereo and many dvd and cd available) while enjoying the large sun terrace and the large garden where children can run and play in all security. Special mention for the impressive starry night sky. Thanks to Martine and Laurent for their warm welcome and the advice of visits of this beautiful green Périgord including Brantôme and the grotto of Villars.

  • We had a great weekend at Martine, her husband welcomed my grandfather and helped him find the house, the place was clean and the kitchen is well equipped, it is already good thanks to a floor heating ( we all enjoyed walking in socks). It's a lovely house in the middle of nature, besides we saw deer and pick mushrooms. We all recommend this house, and thank our guests!

  • Very nice house, absolute peace, the house is located on a forest clearing, so you can start hiking right outside the front door. But you have to be aware that you need the car for the way to the bakery, market, restaurant. We felt very comfortable.

  • Diana's place was fantastic! We had a great time staying at her Gite. Communication was easy and fast... We were given some great local tips. The accommodation was homely and with everything we could need. The location was perfect for what we were after... tranquil surrounds in amongst the Forest with great nooks to read a book or relax by the pool, lots of local Forest walks to be had too. I would highly recommend Diana's Gîtes to anyone who's looking for a quiet base to enjoy nature and explore the surrounds of the 'Périgord-Limousin Natural Regional Park'.

  • Hamlet quiet and charming, typical house and beautifully restored. We were there for a few days of heat wave and we were roosting the weather cool on the ground floor and 1st floor. On the 2nd floor, under the eaves (rooms) it was warmer obviously. Diana and her husband are very hospitable, available, discreet and attentive. The pool is top not overlooked with views of the countryside. We felt like we were alone and it was very nice!

There are lots of things to do and see in the local area including golf, riding, markets, medieval towns, caves, restaurants and walking. More information is available on our website at www.lemoulindepensol.com.
  • Heidi and Nick were wonderful hosts, helpful and made us very welcome. Their cottage was set in idyllic quiet surroundings of the countryside. Would thoroughly recommend to anyone.

    Wendy2019-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our stay at Heidi and Nick’s Gîte in Pensol. The property is inside a protected natural park, and the whole grounds are truly beautiful. Wake up and have a coffee on the porch with the freshest air, and watch the natural habitat start its day. Finish the day with a local wine and cheese in the shade on any of the many great spots around the property. While Pensol is pretty remote, we didn’t have any difficulty finding great local shops and restaurants ~10-15 mins away in the car in any direction. We day-tripped to Sarlat for a great lunch (highly recommended), saw tons of chateaus, but really more than anything enjoyed the nature and landscapes in the Perigord-Limousin region where the BNB is located. There are some friendly donkeys on site, a pool, ping-pong, and the gite is set up with everything you need for a relaxing stay on Heidi and Nick’s bed and breakfast. If you’re looking for a true “BNB” experience with friendly hosts in a beautiful setting, the Moulin in Pensol is the perfect place! Thanks Heidi and Nick! We loved our stay. Au revoir!

    Rich2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • The Moulin de Pensol is a beautiful and atypical place in the heart of nature. Perfect for a relaxing and quiet holiday. A little more than 2 hours drive, we could also discover the most beautiful panorama of the black Perigord: Roque Gageac, the gardens of Marqueysac ... Heidi and Nik are friendly, smiling and hospitable. In short, we advise without hesitation! Diane Clément and Anna

    Diane2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • What an incredible place. Drive down a steep track into a rural idyll. From the moment you step out of your car you are surrounded by butterflies, bees and dragonflies, (protected by being in a nature reserve with very low insecticide use - you realise this is how it should be everywhere)! The gites are everything you need them to be, but the setting is the star of the show. Sit outside morning, afternoon or night and watch as the shifting light brings different elements of this little valley to life, or do your neck an injury staring up at the stars - a particular treat for city dwellers. Follow one of the local walks through woods and meadows... Or just relax by the pool with a beer! Heidi and Nick are faultless hosts - we couldn’t have asked for more.

    Jon2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • A welcome, a place, a unique atmosphere! butterflies and dragonflies will accompany you in this wonderful break in the time that offers this place. Perfect to relax, walks in the woods, smiles and ploufs in the pool. A real makeover :)

    Victor2018-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • We've just returned from the perfect relaxing break at Le Moulin. Nik, Heidi, Guy and Mia made us feel very welcome, and we enjoyed getting to know them at the BBQ they put on the evening we arrived. Our gîte was great, and the setting was amazing. It no doubt helped that we had glorious sunshine for most of our stay, but relaxing outside of the gîte with the sounds of the birds in the trees and the stream flowing by was just perfect. If you're looking for a tranquil base from which to go on walks or explore the stunning French countryside by car, you will not be disappointed!

This holiday house is part of a small group of 4 cottages as well as the main house of the owner, gathered around a large courtyard. Each house has its own private garden, and the guests can make use of the swimming pool, which is in an area not far away from the cottage. This quirky cottage is less suitable for guests who are less mobile. There is a lot to do in the area, which is known as ‘Le Pays des Feuillardiers’, the country of the chestnut woodcutters. Famous is the market of Piégut-Pluviers on Wednesday mornings, with its stalls full of local products, arts and crafts and flowers and plants. There are rivers and lakes nearby for fishing and swimming, and several local restaurants, well-known for their recipes for regional products. The nearest cities are Limoges, famous for its porcelain, medieval Angoulême and Périgueux, with its Roman archaeological sites. There are many interesting smaller towns and villages in the area which throughout the year hold festivals and markets.

  • Just returned after a wonderful week in Marval with my family. ( 2 children age 5 and 8, husband age 43😁) . Where do I start?.... A wonderful warm welcome from Candy and Drew after our long journey. We arrived at about 8pm and after a quick tour, we felt immediately at home and the girls jumped in the pool, followed by a game of badminton. The gite was larger than expected and everything was lovely and clean. The complimentary bread, cheese and wine were a welcome surprise and didn’t remain in the kitchen for long! The bed linen was lovely on our bed. (This may seem a random comment but I’m fussy on bed linen). The Shower in the bathroom is great for children as we could fit two in at once! The kitchen is well stocked with crockery etc. which makes it easy if you wish to spend evenings at the gite cooking or having a BBQ. The pool and outside area exceeded our expectations, with plenty of seating/sun beds and lots of room for our family frisby games. Whilst the gite feels tucked away from the rest of the world, there are easily accessible amenities within a short drive. We had some great days out and absolutely loved St Estephe and Brantôme. The highlight for our girls was when Drew took them for a ride in the back of his tractor, we will always remember the look on their little faces. This holiday was fantastic value for money, in a beautiful, special place We can’t thank you enough Candy and Drew, we WILL return!

  • As soon as you arrive a sense of peace and calm comes over. We arrived on a beautifully sunny afternoon, greeted by the wonderfully warm Candy and Drew who were so helpful and made staying so easy. The pool was sparking, the apartment was so comfortable and easy with our toddler and the outside sofa area was perfect to eat and relax, especially for mum and dad after our toddler was in bed. The area is beautiful with a quiet family friendly swimming lake really close. Our toddler loved playing on the tractor and exploring the beautiful garden and meadow. Thank you so much!

  • A beautiful, peaceful and natural environment and Candy and Drew have excellent taste and accurate thought on how to make their accommodation a home from home. They made us feel so welcome. Everything provided with cheese, bread and wine to welcome us. we loved it and only wished we could have stayed longer, thank you. we would recommend staying here without a doubt.

    Andrew2018-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • Candy and Drew are outstanding hosts, available and attentive. They went out of their way to make sure our stay was perfect. They even invited us to dinner. The apartment was as described, even better equipped. The pool is very nice and the garden huge. Candy and Drew gave us the best addresses from the moment we arrived. We could enjoy the area, walks, swimming in landscaped ponds, local markets, tourist towns etc ...

    Marval, Aquitaine Limousin Poitou-Charentes, France

A converted stone Farmhouse and Barn with pool surrounded by gardens and woodland. Located close to the Dordogne border and village of Marval in the centre of Limousin National Park. This is the perfect location for a rural getaway and ideal for walkers, cyclists, horse riding, fishing and water sports. You’ll love the cosiness and tranquillity of our home ideally suited for couples, families (with kids), and big groups, see our adjoining gite property providing a further 2 double beds.
Set in beautiful tree lined gardens with pool, our farmhouse offers you complete privacy. Option to also let out the adjoining gite for further space for extended family and friends with additional 2 double beds. Please note however we do not rent the gite out individually so you still get all the grounds, garden and pool for your private usage. Nestled in the centre of the Limousin National Park of South Western France, with easy access to many lakes and charming towns and villages of this area including Brantome, Peregeux, Angouleme and Limoges. Also the well known weekly market on a Wednesday in Peiguet-Pluviers is only 10 minute drive.
We are very fortunate to be located in the centre of Limousin National Park, providing close access to the many lakes and countryside this area boasts. Most lakes offer fabulous beaches with lots of amenities and water sports for all ages. There are many cafes and restaurants overlooking the beautiful scenery. Many villages are within a few minutes and have several bars and restaurants as well as regular weekly food markets, one of which is the famous and biggest in the Dordogne region, Piegut-Pluviers every Wednesday morning. The well know and beautiful village of Brantome, named the Venice of France with the River Dronne flowing around the town centre lined with shops, cafes and some of the best restaurants in the region, including Michelin starred Le Moulin de l’Abbeye, It is a must visit with the famous Benedictine Abbey founded in 769 and kayaks available to hire on the river, which is very popular. Also with the benefit of such a central location, three of the most popular cities in each of the neighbouring departments, Peregeux, Angouleme and Limoges are within easy reach, less than an hour by car. Each offering different local characteristics with many shops and restaurants, we love the famous cartoon murals on buildings in Angouleme made famous by the Asterix the Gaul artist.
  • We loved our time at Dave & Liz’s farmhouse, with the added bonus of having these lovely hosts just next door to welcome us! The farmhouse is homely and well equipped with everything you could need. The children particularly loved the pool and the huge garden. Well appointed in beautiful countryside it was a great base to explore the towns and villages of the Dordogne and we particularly loved the lake beach at St Estephe. A real gem!

    Louise2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • As a family of four, with two young kids (1.5 and 3 years old), we are constantly on the look out for palces to stay with safe areas to play. The farmhouse delivered with a vast lawn area overlooked by comfortable outside dining area. The pool is well fenced so no worries about little ones straying into the area. Can't wait to go back!

    Alex & Heather2019-06-15T00:00:00Z
  • Le Ferme du Noyer is in a beautiful rural part of France within easy distance of Limoges airport. Day trips into the Dordogne work too. The house itself is full of char m with tonnes of well kept outside space and a well fenced pool area (if you have kids). Liz and Dave provided loads of suggestions of where to eat and visit. A great find.

    Clare2018-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Outstanding place with absolutely fabulous pool and garden. With 2 children our holiday was made easy. Brilliantly kept and thoroughly enjoyable to use. The Gite was clean, lovely inside and beds super comfortable! A car is needed but this means it’s lovely and quiet and a great place to really find peace and quiet. Everywhere is easily accessible and can get everything you need within 5/10 mins by car. Gite has a lovely feel to it and easy to find.

    Helen2018-08-25T00:00:00Z

  • Dave & Liz’s place is set in a beautiful quiet location, it is fully equipped for your stay. The hosts are very helpful and respond quickly if you need anything, we couldn’t fault our stay at the farm house we had a perfect family holiday and got to relax and enjoy the beautiful French countryside. Throughly recommend for families, we look forward to staying here again in the future.

    James2018-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • Dave & Liz's place is a little bubble of secluded heaven! The house is gorgeous, clean, well-presented. Lots of character. Two good sized rooms and a single. Slanted ceilings and low beams upstairs which are lovely but watch your head! Lots of towels and emergency toiletries. The gardens are beautiful, huge and perfectly manicured. Big dinner table, shade, sunloungers. The pool is lovely - in the sun all day long so nice and warm (keep it covered at night!), fence around it was perfect with our toddler. Lots of fun inflatables. Hosts couldn't be nicer and helped us with recommendations, and supplies as we were arriving late on a Sunday when shops were closed. They provided a high chair and cot too which was really great. Local area beautiful, VERY quiet and peaceful. Local village Marval with two restuarants and small shop is 5 min drive. Bigger village/town Piegut Pluviers with supermarket, bakery etc is 15 min drive.

    Cher2018-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for peace and quiet in the French countryside this is the place. The pool and the garden are fantastic I didn't see my children for 5 days as they were either in the garden or in the pool. Dave and Liz were lovely hosts and sent a lovely message to check we arrived. The directions to the farmhouse to very clear and we had no problems finding it. I would definitely stay here again and already thinking of bringing the grandparents next year to stay in the gite next door. Happy holidays if you choose to stay here.

Welcome to our traditional cottage style home in this beautiful part of France. Situated in the centre of the Perigord- Limousin Regional Park, we're only a few minutes drive from Cussac, at the edge of the hamlet Vimpere, La Chapelle-Montbrandeix. An ideal location for visiting this area of historic interest, with routes nearby taken by Richard (the Lionheart) 1st on his crusades. This area is known as 'The French Lake District' and upon visiting you'll understand why, with many lakes nearby.
We currently have one ground floor bedroom available, ideal for a couple. The bathroom with a shower, wash basin & toilet is also on the ground floor. The bedroom is at the rear of the house, overlooking the garden & forest behind. A continental breakfast will be served, either in your room, or alternatively in the dining room.
In nearby Cussac there are a couple of bar/restaurants and in La Chapelle-Montbrandeix there is also a bar that served delicious food. The area is very quiet, ideal for walkers, but a car is a must to be able to explore the surrounding area. There are many Chateaux to visit nearby including Chateau de Brie, Rochechouart, and in nearby Chalus, the ruins of Chateau de Chalus-Chabrol, where Richard the Lionheart received the crossbow wound that later killed him when it became infected.
  • Excellent address: Deb and Bob will welcome you with great kindness. The evening meals shared with them were delicious. The opportunity to taste typical British dishes! Really great hosts, Thanks again!

  • Jerome is a very pleasant host, and present. The facilities and the cottage are simply exceptional. The place is very quiet with forest walks and other activity on site. And a lot of history around the cottage. Come with your family, and do not forget your animals.

    Gregory2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • We really loved our stay. The setting is beautiful and relaxing, the cottage is perfectly clean and equipped, Jerome is a very friendly and warm host who immediately puts at ease, and I'm not talking about the pool that was the icing on the cake. All conditions were met to spend a few days at the top ... and it was! A big thankyou for everything. We will return without hesitation (but longer this time)!

    Lison2019-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very good stay

    Manuel2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Welcome from Jerome irreproachable and caring with significant marks of attention and place of great quality. I highly recommend this place.

    Nathalie2019-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • Jerome’s gite was spectacular. It was very contemporary and stylish and so clean, exactly what we were looking for. Although more suited to couples looking for a rural romantic French getaway, Jerome catered incredibly well for our 2 year old and gave her a very warm welcome. With thoughtful touches such as a teddy bear waiting in the bedroom for her, colouring pencils and outdoor toys for both the beautiful and relaxing pool and sandpit. Jerome and his family were also very welcoming and gave lots of advice and tips on the local area which made for some great days out. Including just walking through the woodland at the back of the gite. All in all, this is a highly recommended gite to visit and somewhere I’d love to stay again.

  • Exceptional stay at Anne and Xavier's! Board games available, small river on the property, heating with wood stove. An atypical stay far from the bustle of urban life. We highly recommend this gîte, probably the best in Périgord!

  • Ideal place for those who want to spend a real holiday or a relaxing short break. The cottage is in a small hamlet or even a car will not bother you in the early morning. A swimming pool is available, it is shared between the various cottages and hosts but this is not disturbing. By cons you will have to do some km to do your shopping or various activities. Thanks to Diana

  • We really enjoyed our stay at Candy and Drew's place in Marval. The old farmhouse is very well equipped and spacious. We had a great fun with the musical instruments and spent a big chunk of time in the pool. The welcome bundle was very appreciated after our long car journey and a thoughtful touch. In the description there was no mention that we would be sharing the pool with the other guests, but that was a all fine and worked out well. The open mike/folk music evening at the village restaurant was a real treat. Really nice trail for walking /running just outside the house.

  • Cannot overstate how much we enjoyed our stay this summer. A peaceful, beautiful, enchanting home, where all members of our family felt utterly relaxed and happy within minutes of arrival. After a fairly dreadful journey due to eurotunnel delays, Candy and Drew could not have been more welcoming and hospitable. The house is well-equipped and comfortable. We loved the huge library and collection of games. The swimming pool and garden were a dream for our 3 children, and the tips we were given on fun things to do locally were spot on. A thoroughly perfect holiday. We will be back!!

    Sophia2019-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • This is an incredible family holiday location if you’re willing to drive to places and want some serious chill time too! Candy and Drew were very responsive and helpful and always around to offer advice. The farmhouse is traditional, comfortable and very well stocked, especially in the kitchen which as we were all avid cooks, was a very welcome surprise!! Managed 4 adults, 2 teenage boys, 2 young girls and 2 babies just perfectly and with the pool onsite it meant our days when we wanted to chill, we’re very much catered for. Lovely shop in village for ordering daily collection of croissants, bread and stocks most things needed: eggs, jams and household bits. Very friendly locals in the cafe and nearby villages but we should’ve been more prepared for the opening hours (or should that be closing hours?!!) or shops, restaurants and bars in rural France! Altogether an amazing 10 days in this stunning area and made all the better by staying at Candy and Drew’s home. We’ll go back one day for sure!

De plus, de nombreux étangs à proximité et aménagés pour recevoir du public font la joie des petits et des grands. Yvan shares thoughtful advice on the Dordogne and Perigord areas and on things to do - there are many booklets and guides to look through. For breakfast he makes delicious pancakes served with wonderful jams - the apple juice is superb too! Without any hesitation we whole heartedly recommend Yvan's home to any visiting individual or couple. Book it... you won't regret it.

  • We hesitated to write a review so that we could keep this little paradise for ourselves. But on the other hand: as many people as possible should be able to enjoy this. It is a wonderfully quiet place and the cottage was very cozy and atmospheric with everything you need. There is also plenty to do in the area, from markets to one of the most beautiful swimming lakes in France. On site you can use a separate house with shower and toilet, and you can also regularly use the large kitchen (if available). What you don't see in the photos is the fantastic view and the many animals you can spot, from deer to hedgehogs. But the most important thing about the stay is the atmosphere that Peter and Ida have created in this place. You can go your own way, but they always come to see if everything is going well and if you wish, and if they can help with anything. We also had a nice dinner together with all the people who stayed on site. Peter and Ida have created a home in a beautiful region in France; we cannot wait until we can return!

You’ll love the cosiness and tranquillity of our home ideally suited for couples, families (with kids), and big groups.
Set in beautiful tree lined gardens with pool, our farmhouse with gite offers you complete privacy.
  • A return to an amazing place a year on from our last visit. The superb memories we took from our visit in 2018, were replicated and added to on our return a year later. Dave and Liz are fantastic hosts and have created a great place to spend a holiday. The location is stunning. The accommodation has everything you need internally and a massive garden and pool that allow you to enjoy the outdoors during the day and at night (the stars are amazing!). There are lots of places to visit, historical or for leisure activities within an easy car drive away. There are also some exceptional places to eat, from your local village eatery to fine dining. I can't speak highly enough of the quality of Dave and Liz's place and it's location. Safe to say we will be trying to book again in 2020!

  • The location is just beautiful, the gardens and pool are fantastic and the farmhouse and gite offer great space for a family holiday. We loved every minute of our week. Lots of interesting places to visit, we tried a few local restaurants and were amazed by the size of the market in Piegut-Pluviers. We are already thinking about booking again, the week was so relaxing, we found the perfect place to enjoy some family time.

  • Bucolic stay in a very nice family home (we were 6 + a baby). Part of the farm is a little away, which is very valuable for parents for example. The place very very quiet but suddenly, a bit far from everything. There are nevertheless many water bodies in the area for small excursions and beautiful walks. The owners we have not seen are very friendly, attentive and responsive. Small flat, the general state of cleanliness left a little to be desired and the garden furniture ... If you are not too observant, I warmly recommend this house. Phil

  • Where to start, if you want happy hour drinks offers, full English breakfasts and Sunday roasts then this isn’t the place for you. If you want to sample the peaceful tranquility of the french countryside then get yourself to La Ferme du Noyer. Liz and Dave have got this just right, a lovely traditional farmhouse with some original features mixed subtly with a couple of modern comforts. Couple that with the cosy gite next door and there’s plenty of room for everyone to enjoy time together or perhaps some well needed solitude. The outside space is perfect too with a very large, immaculately kept garden (large enough to practice your chipping, but don’t let the gardener know) and a good sized swimming pool. The surrounding area is full of gems too from Lac St Estephe with its clean beach and free kayaking, the huge weekly Wednesday market in nearby Piégut-Pluviers to the local restaurants, two in particular are definitely worth a visit, Les Feuillardiers in Marval itself does a fantastic 5 course set lunch for €14 and La Ferme du Lac run by the very friendly Jackie and Liston, booking essential at the latter. Liz and Dave are the perfect hosts always ready to answer queries and offer advice on places to eat or visit, we enjoyed it so much we’ve already booked to return next year!

  • We have just returned from Dave and Liz's place and can safely say we have had one of the best holidays ever! As hosts, Dave and Liz were brilliant, giving us ideas of where to visit for a day out or to eat, helping us with any small questions we had and just by presenting us with a perfect location for our holiday. A fantastic holiday venue for families of any size. An idyllic location, with lots of activities, great places to eat and picturesque towns and villages within a short drive ...on quiet roads! La Ferme Du Noyer itself, is a stunning property with lots of room in the accommodation itself and in the large grounds. It has everything you could need to cater for the whole family both inside and outside, including a spotless swimming pool with lots of inflatables! We would not hesitate in recommending this to anyone as holiday destination. Thanks guys for an amazing experience!

  • We highly recommend this accommodation, ideal for a week of quiet holidays with friends and very well suited for children and animals.

    Adrien2018-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • We spent 10 days at la Ferme du Noyer. The house was exactly what we were looking for. A quiet and secluded yet comfortable place to make great family memories. Everything was as described by Dave and Liz who were responsive to our questions. En resume, toute la famille s'est senti revigoree apres cette escapade dans la campagne Perigordienne.

  • Well...what can I say?! An amazing experience from communication at the start to the check out today. I really cannot fault my stay with Gill and Rolfe! I received such a warm welcome and a much needed cup of tea straight away after a long journey. I was shown around and told everything I needed to know - wow what a stunning home!! I felt straight at home, I used the pool which was perfect and visited a lovely restaurant which Rolfe recommended to me. The bedroom was perfect, quiet and comfortable with the added bonus of my own bathroom. I loved the option of tea and coffee in the room, great touch! Just when I thought it couldnt get any better...breakfast came! Gill was a fantastic host, pouring me a cup of coffee as soon as I sat down and just being so lovely! There were plenty of options for breakfast, and I felt it would be rude not to try it all (well that's my excuse for eating way too much than I should have!) Delicious, delicious, delicious! For the first time travelling on my own, I could not have hoped for a better experience, I was made to feel at ease straight away. I would highly recommend this Air bnb, not only is the house and surroundings stunning but Gill and Rolfe were polite, welcoming, warm and friendly. The only downside is I couldn't stay any longer (due to other commitments)...maybe next time :) thank you thank you thank you xx

  • Le Moulin is so beautiful and right from the start we felt relaxed and welcome, from the tour and settling in by Nick to the wonderful meal and hospitality in the evening. The cottages are wonderfully thought out and appointed, with everything you can think of provided. We stayed on Pizza night and had a lovely evening eating with the rest of guests, breakfast was also an option if we wanted. The setting is beautiful, but take your bug spray if you are heading to the hammock.... And finally, the bed was as comfy as promised in the guest book!!
