If we do then we will definitely stay with Terry and Maxine again! Book and you won’t be disappointed! A great find!

Forest of Dean cottage with flag stone floors and open fire. Pet friendly. Small private courtyard with all day sunshine exclusive use of wood-fired sauna, hot tub, BBQ & firepit. Convenient village location with late shops and take-aways but close to forest walks, biking, lakes and sculpture trail
The cottage is a great, quiet weekend get away with 2 bedrooms and a double sofa bed in the sitting room. The dining room is furnished in a retro style with a well-equipped galley kitchen. The cottage is funky and unconventional with bedrooms that are themed - birds of paradise, vintage rose and woodland sheepskin.
Quirky village - not picturesque but has all the amenities you might need for a weekend away, such as take aways, late co-op with off-licence and pharmacy etc. But has good walks up the hills behind the village and great access to the Royal Forest of Dean and nearby Herefordshire.
  • What a great cottage. Perfect for families. Hot tub and sauna a special bonus. Dog proof garden was brilliant. Very comfortable bed in the main bedroom, the sheets were so crisp and wonderful to sleep in. We would stay here again

    Katherine2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely comfortable cottage with everything we needed.Great place to just relax and get away from it all but lots of things to do in the area if you want to explore.

    Sam2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent host with great hospitality. Host was there immediately if needed but doesn’t intrude at all. Nice place with a big hot tub. Excellent value for money

    Stephen2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect getaway with the family, then some chill time in the hot tub and sauna in the evening. Local shops walking distance great place to stay!

    Robert2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Not enough superlatives. Such a beautiful space and the hot tub/sauna combo is incredible. Best hot tub I've been in. Zoff was really helpful and sent back belongings that we left there. Highly, highly recommend staying here

    Sean2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • I would really recommend a stay at Zoff's cottage. It is the perfect relaxing get-away, being a stone's throw away from all the major attractions in the Forest of Dean. The cottage has two sitting rooms ( one being the dining room but it also has 2 sofas) so it was handy to have another room for teenagers to be in. The lounge is really cosy with a roaring open fire and we enjoyed the retro games which are provided - Spirogram was a blast from the past! Of course the best part was the wood fired sauna and hot tub which are well maintained and situated in the small private courtyard/garden. A perfect place to relax for a weekend get-away. Many thanks Zoff!

    Sarah2019-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • Zoff’s place was perfect for our chilled girls’ weekend. The delux hot tub and amazing sauna added a bit of luxury to our stay. The gaff is in a perfect location to explore the Forest of Dean with lots of lovely walks etc near by. The house was super cosy and had everything we needed. We had a fab weekend and would definitely recommend Zoff as a host: he was so welcoming, always quick to respond, helpful and made sure we had everything we needed including a couple of extras that we requested. Thanks again for a great stay!

    Nancy2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely few days away here. The hot tub and sauna allow for a very relaxing stay. The cottage was clean with comfy beds and a well furnished kitchen. If we needed any information Zoff was at the end of the phone to help straight away. I would definitely recommend this stay to anyone and we will be returning in the near future

    Rachel2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • The studio was well equipped, stylishly decorated and set in pretty gardens. It felt very private but not isolated. Ideal if staying alone or as a couple. There were lovely walks and picturesque views over hills to the distance. A peaceful, relaxing retreat with the added bonus of a cosy woodburner!

    Malcolm2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely little cottage and had such a warm welcome from Lyn, Fred and Lena! Had a great weekend despite storm Dennis raging on, will definitely head back when the weather is better and we can explore.

    Melissa2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is fantastic - 10 mins drive from Symonds Yat East and Rock where you can do lovely walking cycling trails. Probably 10 mins drive to Ross and maybe 20 to Monmouth, both of which have plenty to see, do, eat and drink. We came in February so were very thankful to have the fire to keep us warm when we got in for the day. The cottage has everything you need, and it’s so cosy! The hosts are also very friendly and helpful. Would recommend this place hands down, and we’ll definitely go back.

  • A lovely place to stay! A relaxing, peaceful studio to spend time in. Very clean, spacious and welcoming. Had everything we needed for a week away - we were able to cook simple meals in the little kitchen. Fantastic views while eating breakfast. A little tricky to find but Clare's detailed instructions were spot on. Clare's communication was great and we received a lovely, friendly welcome when we arrived. A great base for exploring The Forest of Dean area; so many places nearby to visit etc. We visited during the dreadful floods of Storm Dennis but were still able to go out and about easily enough with a little extra planning and advice from Clare on local road closures.

    Andy2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Host gave clear helpful instructions for how to find the location. Lovely quiet getaway, reasonably priced.

    Chris2020-01-04T00:00:00Z

  • The studio is in an wonderful setting, right in the heart of the forest. So many amazing walks, and stunning places to visit. Tintern Abbey, Clearwell Mines and castles galore. Claire is a great source of local info and tips for what to do and see, and great places to eat. The studio is quiet and private, great base to travel from for day trips.

  • A lovely homely cottage. The hill drive up is very steep and not the best for nervous drivers. But directions given were spot on! Would be a great space for kids to play hide and seek in the grounds in summer. Stairs also steep so be careful. But would defo stay again and fabulous value for money!

    Amy2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing views, lovely house in a great out of the country!

    Nicholas2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • The pictures don’t do it justice. Firstly the views from the cottage are breath taking. The view down across the valley is a beautiful sight to wake up to. The cottage itself is clean and as described. The living rooms once the fires are lit and the kitchen make for a perfect place to cook and relax. With close access to some amazing locations I couldn’t recommend this Air BnB enough. Perfect for a relaxing weekend away!

    Tom2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • House is amazing, we can really tell that ever room was carefully designed. It is absolutely lovely. The place is a bit hard to find but the instructions in Airbnb were very accurate. Careful with the stairs. The kitchen has absolutely all appliances. Hopefully we will come back in the summer to enjoy the outside of the house as well.

  • Fantastic place, would recommend to anyone looking for quiet weekend away with family and friends

    Craig2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely place to stay!! Really homely and would highly recommend to anyone!!

    Jonny2020-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed here for 2 nights over New Year as a group of 3 couples and a 3 month old baby. Nat is a great host, who came back very quickly to my questions and gave us clear instructions via air b&b before we arrived and with helpful packs in the house. The house is lovely in a great location, we had to drive to go for a walk because the house is at the top of a VERY steep hill, as we had the baby and one of us is 6months pregnant. The kitchen is great, and allowed us to make a lovely roast dinner - didn’t want for anything! The bedrooms are very spacious with good size beds, and the bathroom is beautiful! We’d definitely stay again. Only thing to consider is to bring your own towels as the towels are small hand towels. We also had to move the thermostat out of the kitchen as cooking dinner meant the heating didn’t come on in the rest of the house making it a bit too cold for the little one.

This welcoming and friendly 2 bedroom terrace house is on 3 levels and the quiet bedroom offers amazing views of the forest. There is a terraced garden for relaxing in. It is ideally situated to explore the Wye Valley, Forest of Dean, Monmouth and Ross on Wye. There are lots of tourist spots and also walks, cycling and canoeing. The village has a Shop, Chip Shop, 2 Public Houses, one of which hosts an Indian restaurant and is close to the river.
  • Perfect place if you're having the weekend walking. Great views from bedroom!

  • Sharon is a great host. My boyfriend and I stayed one night to Sharon's place and she made us feel at home. The communication prior to check-in was fast and clear, her place is lovely and she took the time to chat and explain where to start our biking session. We really enjoyed the coffee, tea and breakfast in the morning! We highly recommend! Thank you again, Sharon!

    Andreea2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Sharon is a super-fabulous host!! Her place is wonderfully eclectic and warm; she even left us roses since it was our honeymoon. ♡ Sharon communicates very well and everything is better than expected. We had plenty of tea and breakfast (and she offers much more - just like it's our own home!!). The area is great, and she has so many suggestions within walking distance for places to eat, drink, visit, hike/walk/run and nearby attractions (Clearwell Caves was amazing!!). Our only regret was that we didn't have more time to spend, but we'd LOVE to return and stay again!! If you want a cozy place at a reasonable rate, you must stay at Sharon's!! :)

    Gavin2019-10-14T00:00:00Z

Unwind, de-stress and relax in our tranquil, comfortable, self-contained, modern studio a few yards from our cottage in Hangerberry. Hazel studio is situated on the edge of the Wye Valley, an area of outstanding natural beauty and the North West edge of the Royal Forest of Dean. Easy to find and a perfect location for a long weekend or a longer stay to enjoy this beautiful part of the UK. Overlooked by nothing but trees, lie in bed and watch the stars and breakfast inside or on the balcony.
Our studio is open plan with a kitchen and separate shower room. Stay in and cook or visit one of our friendly local pubs for home-cooked food or the village Fish and Chip shop which is 3 minutes walk away. The kitchen area has a full size cooker/grill and all the pots, pans and utensils you will need to cook light meals while you stay. The shower room has a pedestal sink, toilet and cabinet with extra towels, hair dryer and toiletries. The sitting area has comfortable chairs and is equipped with a small flat screen TV and radio. The heating system is separate to our cottage and at your control. We will stock the studio with breakfast ingredients including a range of organic teas, freshly ground coffee, muesli, organic porridge, milk, fruit, home-made bread, butter/dairy free spread and organic jam / marmalade. The bed is an English double (4'6") size with a brand new hypoallergenic luxury spring mattress and organic cotton bedding. There are extra pillows in the studio storage area. Please note that you need to be able to climb stairs as the studio is one flight up from the ground. There is a washing machine and dryer available downstairs for guests who have booked to stay longer than a week. We also have storage for up to 3 bikes in our shed with a facility to lock them safely to a bolted on internal fixing. We don't supply chains or padlocks. Please message me if you want extra dates that are currently blocked off in June or July 2020 as that may be possible. I am also happy to offer a discount for longer stays. Please enquire before you book so I can adjust the calendar prices.
The village of Lydbrook has a village store and Post Office, a fish and chip shop, hairdresser and a number of pubs with restaurants including an Indian restaurant. A 2 minute drive or 15 minute walk from the studio takes you to the Wye River at the bottom of the village which is a lovely place to picnic and a cut through 2 minute walk takes you to our local pub serving home-cooked food. There are lots of lovely walks straight out of the studio door that lead up the road into the Forest. We have lots of leaflets in the studio of places to visit and a guide book with walks in the area. If you want to cycle then Cannop cycle trail is only 5 minutes away with a hire centre and a great cafe serving home-cooked food. The Family Trail is rideable by all ages and abilities with a circular route and goes through the beautiful forest. Our location is ideal for walking and cycling, you can store your bikes safely with us and explore the forest, or venture out to Monmouth, Ross on Wye and further afield.
  • Hazel lodge is beautifully charming and cosy. An abundantly stocked kitchen with everything you need to get you started and more than enough breakfast choice and teas and fresh coffee. Linda is a fantastically welcoming host and has put in lots of well thought out, lovely unique touches. The towels were soft and fluffy, the homemade bread was delicious and the place itself was absolutely sparkling clean and stylish. There were lots of leaflets about what’s on, and there IS a lot to do!! The location is perfect for those wanting to bike, walk, and get out in the fresh air in some stunning scenery. If you’re reading this and you’ve read previous reviews about the noise of rain on the velux windows, i would say, you are on nature’s doorstep here (which is why we loved it) and there will be owls hooting and birds chattering so just bring some ear plugs if you’re a very light sleeper. It rained during the night on our stay, I had some earplugs in and I didn’t hear a thing. This is a fab place, we loved it and will hopefully be back at some point, it is absolutely fantastic value for money, I think you’ll be pushed to find anywhere else as cosy and charming and perfectly located. I would thoroughly recommend.

  • Linda's place is beautifully presented, absolutely spotless and lots of lovely little touches like cruelty free hand-wash and shower gel and freshly baked bread. It's very nicely decorated, even the bins are pretty and it is bigger than it looks in the photos. Would definitely recommend.

    Bek2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Cosy little place in the heart of the Forest of Dean. All appliances worked fine and there was breakfast if we wanted in the form of fresh bread, teas and muesli with milk and a small fruit selection. Bed was super comfy also! Linda was welcoming and friendly, instantly making us feel relaxed. We were given directions to various pubs and eateries and there was a file in the room that provided maps of the various walks that we could do. Due to the poor weather we have been invited back for a free night whenever which was also very much appreciated. If the weather is bad the rain can sound quite heavy on the roof so light sleepers may need ear plugs. The property is also situated next to a road in which you can hear cars passing. WiFi was also poor with only 1 bar of wifi signal but 4G worked just fine. Overall a very pleasing stay and hope to be back soon :)

  • Linda’s modernly decorated and cosy studio is absolutely beautiful and sparkling clean. It is situated in an ideal location from which to explore the Forest of Dean. Highly recommendable.

  • We had a lovely time at Linda’s studio for a weekend break. The studio is beautiful and so welcoming. Linda supplies amazing bread and all the extras which makes such a difference. Has a few good pubs within walking distance, with good food and friendly service. Ideally situated also for local walks, historic towns and the river

Nestled in the forest, in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the South facing cabin fronts a footpath that leads out into the beautiful landscape. It is situated within our garden, with its own access so you are free to come and go as you please. It lends itself to quiet activities such as writing or similar. It is very peaceful and ideal for a quiet retreat from city life and an escape into nature. The main attraction is walking and/or mountain biking.
The cabin is compact with a kitchenette for food preparation. With fridge combi oven/microwave, gas hob and cooking pots, utensils etc. A shower room with basin toilet and shower cubicle. The rest of the space is open for the sleeping area and sitting area. There is a standard double bed. Two easy chairs. There is a fold-out table for dining and two stools. An efficient wood burning stove will keep you warm in winter.
  • The cabin was more spacious than I imagined. A super kitchenette, clean bathroom, comfortable big bed and a wood burner to keep you nice and cosy. It's situated on a pathway leading straight into the forest, so convenient for walkers. Even the endless rain didn't dampen my warm peaceful stay. I stayed for two night, will be booking for a whole week in the summer.

  • Really lovely little place which gets nice and cost with the log fire. The location for walks is absolutely incredible. There are so many walking routes literally right outside the front door and the main Forest of Dean routes are just a 5min drive away.

  • This place is very cosy and lovely. Pam and John are excellent hosts and the cabinet is located next to a wonderful forest. There is a lot to do around Ruspidge and Pam and John gave us some good tips for activities. I would definitely recommend this place.

A cozy 'shed' with twin beds and heating for chilly nights. Situated within the owners property, sited in the centre of the Forest of Dean a mere 100 yards from one of the best mountain biking and cycling centres in the UK. The 'bike shed' looks out over the forest and bike storage. Fantastic location for walking, biking, canoeing the River Wye and exploring this wonderful location. The private washroom is 20 yards from the 'shed' up and down some well lit steps in the owners property.
The bike shed is within the owners garden. The bike shed has twin beds, complimentary tea, coffee and water. Access to washroom is up and down some well lit steps. Access to washroom is up and down some well lit steps. There is bike storage and facilities to wash your bikes. The garden is used daily by the owners family and pets (dog, cat and two free range chickens). The property has direct access to the forest with a variety of walks. We are located almost opposite Cannop cycle centre (pedalabikeaway) and its fantastic mountain biking downhill trails- one of the best in the UK.
We live in a small quiet village with forest all around. There is direct access into the forest over a small brook. We have constantly changing views as the trees go through the year. The birds and wildlife bring a morning chorus and evening song,(often very loudly). Wild boar and deer often pass the gate. The Wye valley offers walks, canoeing, riding and peregine falcons. We also keep honey bees. The Forest of Dean has some fantastic attractions for everyone including Clearwell Caves, Hopewell colliery, Puzzlewood, Secret forest, Perrygrove, steamtrains and MaryRose pottery to name a few! Nearby is a butterfly farm and maze and River Wye boat trips.
  • Great little place to lay our heads after a hard days cycling. Will definitely be back.

I have a bed sittingroom over my garage which is detached from my cottage . Decent sized room, dining table/ chairs etc. Shower + toilet Kitchenette. Own front door from outside parking area. No TV as yet . Wifi being set up. Excellent situation on edge of the Forest of Dean. .... you need a car but good walks/ cycling close by. Plenty of pubs. I can try and help with anything you need to know and make tea or coffee any time!!
I can add one small bed for a child but flat not toddler friendly because of stairs , no gates and garden very wild and steep. Babies no problem.
The neighbour is beautiful, full of trees , walks , rivers a d not far from Welsh border, Worcestershire and the Cotswolds. Horse racing.. Chepstow, Cheltenham not too far.
  • This place is fantastic! We really enjoyed it, there are lots of thoughtful touches and it’s a really cosy space. I’d highly recommend it!

  • Ruth is very nice and helpful. The location is slight difficult to find but you can simply give her a call and she will find you. It is a 15 minutes walk down to town centre with take away, restaurants and supermarkets. There is even a great view for sunrise with her place. You will have your own cabin with private bathroom, kitchen and "living dining bedroom". There is even heat mat on the bathroom and kitchen floors. It is so sweet. Breakfast and some fruits, TV, WiFi are included. The kitchen is fully equipped. There are too much to say. You should try living yourself. It is a place and a cabin that I definitely want to go again and again.

    Kevin2020-01-19T00:00:00Z

Valley Cottage- perfectly situated a few hundred metres from the Wye river five mins to the canoe hire centre . Nestled in the Wye valley at Lydbrook and three minutes by car to the Mountain bike centre.
We bought this cottage when we fell in love with the area and although there are still things we want to do to it we are slowly getting there. We use it in the week and many times with our family throughout the year. All the seasons have something to offer for those who enjoy walking, kayaking, paddle boarding, climbing or cycling. Its a place of outstanding natural beauty that is for those with a love of the outdoors. The cottage is perfectly located for the Wye valley and the Forest of Dean. Goodrich castle is 5 minutes away by car, Symonds Yat 10 minutes and the Wye river is literally at the bottom of the village and the Forest at the top where you will regularly see Deer and Wild Boar. We particularly like the walk at Speculation Woods - the blue bells in June are amazing and the snow this year was a delight. If you want some adventure you can visit Symonds Yat and rock climb or look out for the Peregrine Falcons but if you like to kayak then we recommend Wye Valley Pursuits who we have used many times. They are located at Kerne Bridge which is a 5 minute drive away. Its always good to book and reserve kayak by phone especially in peak season. If you have a passion for cycling then Cannop cycle trail is only 5 minutes away. It has a family trail for those who want a flat and easy ride but for the more adventurous amongst you try the blue or red runs through the beautiful forest. Also fantastic to walk! There is a cycle hire place at the centre and a cafe. There are 2 Go Ape aerial tree climbing and adventure centres in the Forest and within 15 minutes, one hires Segways that can be taken out with a tour guide. If you like a bit of history Goodrich Castle is 5 minutes away and there are some amazing walks from there through the forests, meadows and along the Wye River. We provide guide books for you so you can select a walk that suits your ability and schedule. There is also a good pub in the village with local Ales and quality food. Puzzle Wood is located just outside Coleford where many films and series have been filmed - Star Wars ,Dr Who and Merlin to name but a few. A steam railway can be found at Park End - Dean Forest Railway. Both within 15 minutes of the cottage. If you want a bit of retail therapy Ross on Wye and Monmouth are also nearby. The village of Lydbrook has a post office, shop and a fish and chip take away (open part of the week) and an Indian restaurant. Coleford the nearest town has a good Co-Op and many take away options (typically close at 9pm though) If you go to the bottom of the village you will meet the Wye River and there are some amazing walks or simply a place to picnic.
A quiet neighbourhood with a very good shop containing everything you need as well as a fish and chip shop and Indian restaurant and pubs within five minutes drive
  • Only good things to say about this place! Nick is an easy and friendly host and the cottage is beautiful. The location is central to all nearby attractions and walks all around, there a really well stocked shop opposite too. Would highly recommend and will return if the opportunity arises! Thank you Nick

  • Nick's place has exactly the country cottage charm we wanted, and the housekeeping is outstanding. Having a village shop and fish n' chip shop on the doorstep is super convenient. We would happily return to Nick's place to explore the stunning Forest of Dean further, or just for a cosy home away from home.

  • Great cottage in a lovely village with a small convenience store and chippy. The cottage is well equipped, very clean and spacious for 3-4 adults. The beds are very comfortable, the fireplace made the chilly evenings toasty warm and set the mood for chilled out evenings on the sofas. Nick the host was very friendly and provided us with all the info needed. Great Airbnb and highly recommended.

As one of our guests recently said: "Truly a stunning Cottage, the pictures really don't do it justice... I would recommend it highly to couples or families looking for a getaway in a stunning Cottage & location." Built in the 1850's and retaining much of it’s original charm, the Cottage has been extended on 5 levels of delightful, spacious, yet intimate living; most rooms open to a huge decking with a Sauna and a Hot Tub ready for you to enjoy the amazing views or gaze at the constellations. For that extra touch of luxury, we also provide Swedish Massages and other Spa Treatments (paid for separately). Within the Cottage, you'll find many original features, including a Log Fire to cozy up to; it also has low ceilings and thick and uneven walls, but the Cottage has been modernised to a high specification, on 5 levels, with 3 bedrooms*, one en-suite, a superb family bathroom, cloakroom/toilet, three lounges/living rooms, a shabby chic dining room and a traditional & well equipped kitchen. *Bedrooms: Room 1: Ensuite with King bed, Room 2: Double Bed, Room 3: 'Adult Size' Bunk Beds - which can be separated into single beds. Throughout, you will find comfortable, quality furnishings & décor reflecting the rustic nature of the Cottage and it's surroundings; you will also find a good range of facilities and extra touches - all designed to make you feel welcome and at home. Roam, perhaps rest awhile, in the large rustic garden; regularly visited by pheasants and home to many species of birds, rabbits, other wildlife. You’ll feel secluded in this Forest retreat; a home from home where you can relax after a day’s activities in the forest, at Symonds Yat, elsewhere on the River Wye or further afield to the 'Three Choirs' Cathedral Cities of Gloucester, Hereford and Worcester. It's not a party house, but guests are provided with an excellent entertainment system including three flat screen TVs, a DVD and access to an Amazon Firestick with a multitude of movies, a surround sound music system, turntable and selection of LPs and Bluetooth Speakers. We provide a 'Welcome Pack' including tea, milk, filter coffee, Orange Juice, Towels, Tea Towels and a supply of logs for the fire; guests also have access to the controls for our heating system, so they can ensure they are cozy on winter nights. A few miles from Goodrich Castle, Symonds Yat, Tintern Abbey and the picturesque market towns of Monmouth & Ross on Wye. Between 10 - 20 miles, you'll discover Chepstow Castle and the Cathedral Cities of Hereford and Gloucester.
  • What a wonderful stay we had, the cottage surpassed our expectations, so comfortable, it was like being home. Jayne and Phil are such wonderful hosts and nothing was too much trouble. And as for the views, they are breathtaking.

  • Lovely home to escape a busy life and enjoy views and peace and quiet. Great for bird watching. We saw lots of pheasants, hawks, nut hatches, jays etc. Identification books were a thoughtful addition. Loved the sauna and hot tub.

  • This cottage is amazing!!! We have just spent Christmas as a family here and have had the best Christmas ever! The cottage is so warm and homely, the surroundings are beautiful and the views are amazing! Jayne the host is so helpful and makes everything so easy. The information packs are so helpful and tell you everything you need to know. Hot tub, spa and log burner fire were my personal highlights! We will definitely be looking at staying again! Highly recommend this place!!

  • The cottage is beautiful. The views are lovely. The design and finishing touches make for a very warm and welcoming space. The house is well-equipped with a good TV system, amazon prime, Netflix and there is a high quality sound system with record player (and good selection of records), great for hanging out in the main living space. Jayne was very responsive and detailed in her correspondence and welcome notes, which made the experience all the more enjoyable and relaxing.

    Toby2019-12-09T00:00:00Z
  • The Wye Valley retreat is truly an absolute gem! 5 of us had a thoroughly brilliant long weekend relaxing in the hot tub, walking in the beautiful countryside. Everything was perfect from the communication with Jayne, the check in process, everything you could think of was provided and the view was exceptional. Highly recommend this beautiful retreat! Thanks Jayne! :-)

    Emily2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful home in a wonderful location, Jayne is a fantastic host, and gives lots of advice and information about the area. The sauna is wonderfully relaxing and we felt at home as soon as we opened the door. The view is amazingly.

    Nina2019-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed in Jayne's place late March. The house is amazing! It has great amenities with the sauna and hot tub. The view from the balcony is incredible. I recommend a stay here and would very much like to stay here in the future!

    Irving2019-03-25T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place with breathtaking views. What a beautiful place this is, we didn’t want to leave and will most certainly be back! The location was perfect for long walks and relaxing afternoons walking in nearby Monmouth shops. The hot tub was amazing and had the most incredible view over the valley. Beds were so comfy and I loved all the little extra touches from Jayne like the bonoculas and bird watching books. We will definitely be back.

This deceptively spacious Annexe has a kitchen area with a fridge, cooker, hob, toaster, kettle, microwave and enough utensils to make meals. With a shower and loo, the Annexe has its own heating so is quite cosy and comfortable. An ideal location for short breaks whether you wish to be active or just enjoy the peace and quiet and spectacular views. The River Wye is just a 10 min walk away and the Forest of Dean a short distance beyond. We supply all bedding and towels so you can travel light.
The Annexe is at the end of a single track road (with passing places) and the accommodation is reached via external stairs Rocklands Annexe is at the top of the hill overlooking the Wye valley and so the downhill walk (or drive) to reach the river will inevitably mean an uphill return! Three good Inns serve excellent food on the West side of the river with either a direct short ferry or a pleasant riverside walk to the Biblins footbridge leading you to more Inns and good eating on the East side of Symonds Yat
Rocklands Annexe is in an ideal location overlooking the River Wye and the Forest of Dean. The area is famous for its diversity of walking, running and cycling trails or for the more adventurous - local climbing Canoeing on River Wye is a very popular pursuit - with many local companies providing Canoe Hire and tuition. Most will transport you to a safe launch point at the start of a part or full day's expedition which can be taken leisurely or at a pace to suit yourselves
  • The views are amazing from the room, I can’t recommend this place enough!

    Chris2019-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • What a view! Excellent space. Private and everything you need including tips of the local area. Definitely recommend. And lovely hosts too. Thanks.

    Joseph2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • The Annexe was lovely and the view to wake up to is absolutely stunning. Martin and Jude were great, attentive hosts who really made an effort to make everything perfect and that we made the most being in Symonds Yat. Would definitely recommend and we can't wait to come back!

    Charlotte2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Many thanks Martin & Jude for being such great hosts. Rocklands Annexe was the perfect place for a much needed break. A warm, comfortable and relaxing stay which ticked all the boxes. Stunning views of the Wye Valley offered a small glimpse of heaven. We couldn't have asked for more.

    Jon2019-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • A stunning annex in a perfect setting. The walk down to Symonds Yat is not for the faint hearted, but the views make it so worth it. Martin and Judy had thought of everything and we had the best weekend. Definitely recommend!

    Cara2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Exceptional hosts and a truly wonderful place to stay. The weather was atrocious when we stayed but the Annexe was so cosy and the view was so stunning it was hard to leave anyway! So much thought has gone into this place and Martin & Judy were so welcoming and helpful. We look forward to returning in (hopefully) better weather!

    Jemma2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • We were delighted with every aspect of Rocklands. It's an absolutely beautiful annexe. Jude and Martin are great hosts, quick to correspond and very welcoming when we arrived. Waking up to such an incredible vista took our breath away and the location allowed us to explore an area of the river Wye that was wonderfully unspoilt. If you choose to eat out the local hostelries offer a good standard of food and drink; you get a really good workout on the way back uphill to the annexe!

    Sara2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you so much Martin and Judy! We both had a lovely stay. All the extras and thoughtful touches made it very special. Would love to come back again.

We are doing what we can in the light of the COVID-19 pandemic. This means we are only taking bookings through the Air BnB COVID-19 scheme to offer accommodation to responders until the end of June. If you are a responder, our space will offer you a safe, peaceful bolt hole 12 miles from Gloucester Royal Hospital and 17 from Cheltenham. Plenty of outdoor garden space and many walks on the doorstep for daily exercise.
Wren Cottage could be for you if you are looking to find somewhere away from it all surrounded by nature and birdsong. It is very peaceful here. There is an outside seating area that we are making available to you, although this maybe shared by another responder and social distancing will therefore apply. There is a separate laundry area with washing machine, drier, iron and ironing board. We are making this area available by appointment only to enable us to keep people safe in shared areas. Wren Cottage is a stone forester’s cottage with cosy lounge, wood burner and a well equipped kitchen on the ground floor. A winding staircase leads to a bedroom with a comfy double bed and an ensuite shower room. There is limited storage. Plenty of hangars, and some open shelving. Luggage can also be stored under the metal framed bed. I could provide storage boxes for you. We are currently able to provide loo rolls and plenty of antibacterial soap, but like many, we cannot get hold of any hand sanitiser Notes: Access via a single track unmade road with some potholes Parking is 30 metres UPHILL from the cottage
We have a guest feedback form and one of the questions we ask is "What did you like most about your stay?" The answer is almost always the beautiful location and the peace and quiet. There are many footpaths all over the Forest of Dean and you can access this network from the cottage door. There is woodland within a short distance, and there are lots of small streams and brooks, so the sound of water is often what you will hear on a walk; that and the birdsong. We are on the sunny side of the valley and almost at the top of the hill so you can sit in the sun in the evening with a glass of wine, and admire the views. The penalty for this however is that most walks from the cottage end with a 10 minute uphill walk. We have few neighbours and there are more animals here than people - 2 pigs, one donkey, sheep, hens, and lots of stunning horses. (These our our neighbours' animals not ours). he Forest of Dean is an extensive area of ancient woodland stretching from Mitcheldean in the East as far west as the River Wye and south to the banks of the Severn. The region is rich in flora and fauna, and is beautiful in springtime when the woods are adorned with successive carpets of wild daffodils (Newent), bluebells and wood anenomes. Early morning or dusk are the best times of day to spot some of the wildlife including fallow deer and wild boar. For avid bird lovers the Forest of Dean is a joy, with the possibility of spotting the goshawks at New Fancy View, the peregrine falcons at Symmonds Yat Rock, dippers nesting in the banks of a stream or the pied flycatchers which make their nests in the hollowed out trunk of an oak tree. In summer be sure to look out for the many and varied butterflies which reside in the Forest including the white admiral, purple hairstreak and sliver washed fritillary. The Forest is an undulating landscape and your walks may well be accompanied by the sound of a stream babbling along a valley bottom as well as strident birdsong. There are many views to be admired from the hill tops across Forest and rivers, towards the Malvern Hills or to the Welsh Mountains across the border. Try May Hill for the best vantage point over the Forest!
  • A beautiful cottage in an amazing location. With some amazing walks straight from the front door. House has everything you need for an amazing break.

    Philip2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Despite the best efforts of Storm Dennis and the flooding that ensued we have had a great time at Wren Cottage. Wonderful walks from the door straight into the woods as well as plenty of areas to explore futher afield. Karen was a great host, very welcoming with great communication. The cottage had everything needed for a comfortable stay with the log burner providing an extremely cosy atmosphere at the end of a days walking for us and especially our two dogs! Thank you again Karen.

    Elizabeth2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Anyone staying at Wren Cottage is in a for treat. Not only will they be amongst some of the most beautiful countryside, they will be staying in a gorgeous and cosy cottage. Perfect for a romantic getaway!

    Simon2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Wren Cottage is a wonderful little treasure, the perfect home from home for my party of two adults and two dogs. Karen is a great host, good communication and very thoughtful touches on arrival. Would recommend staying here and would stay again myself

    Harriet2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was a delight and perfect for an individual traveller like I was, or a couple. It was cosy and the fireplace a good way to keep the place warm in winter (although there is also heating too). It was spotlessly clean and with good amenities. It was extremely quiet with a lovely aspect so if you’re looking for a getaway from the city life, this is a good place to get it. Not too far from the local villages and the walks in the forest were delightful. All round, a really nice stay!

    Ian2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • Great place very oeaceful and cozy

    David2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cottage, amazing location would highly recommend and stay again.

    Luke2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is a real gem. Set off the beaten track with stunning scenery as far as the eye can see, this was the perfect place for a relaxing break. Karen offered the warmest of welcomes, and the little touches including biscuits, juice and fresh flowers were very much appreciated. The wood burning stove was made up ready to use, with plenty of wood for the weekend which we made good use of! Definitely worth a visit.

Granton Coach House in Goodrich is in the grounds of our house in a quiet part of the village. Accommodation for 2 people is on the first floor of the building. Many original features have been retained and it's very well equipped to make your stay comfortable. A home from home! We like to welcome guests personally so can offer advice on places to visit, places to dine. There's a wealth of info/leaflets on local walks, cycle and canoe hire etc. The Wye Valley is beautiful at all times of year.
We renovated the coach house with an aim to transform it into an attractive living space for our guests to relax in and enjoy. Several original features still are evident such as the floor and the beams. At one time the coach house had been used by a governess to a young girl living in the main house. We are lucky enough to know a lot of history of the property and have photos depicting that time and these are displayed by the dining area. There is an open plan well equipped kitchen, living, dining space and a bedroom with a super-king bed, wardrobe with hanging and shelf space. A hairdryer and a fan are also provided. The ensuite shower/WC is roomy and the vanity unit has cupboard space. There is a cosy wood-burner in the lounge and central heating throughout. The washing machine and iron and ironing board is in the utility room just off the veranda. The veranda is a perfect place to sit and listen to birdsong. Apart from the TV with Freeview, there are a few board and card games. WIFI is available for our guests to use in the property. All bed linen is fine Egyptian cotton and is provided as well as hand and bath white fluffy towels.Tea towels, dish cloths, paper towels etc are also in the kitchen.
The Wye Valley is set within an area of outstanding natural beauty. Goodrich is a lovely village conveniently situated between Ross on Wye (just off the M50) and Monmouth just off the A40 and so is ideally placed for visiting the The Forest of Dean, The Brecon Beacons, including Hay on Wye (famous for its literary festival), Abergaenny (famous for its food festival) ,The Malvern Hills (famous for RHS Flower Shows), Hereford, Gloucester, Cheltenham, Cardiff and Bristol etc.
  • A lovely, well appointed place for 2 people, with en suite bath room , with large comfortable living room / kitchen area which provided ample cooking equipment and space. A small patio with BBQ is also available for when the weather is more appropriate than we had. Although Liz was away during our stay, she made sure someone was available to provide anything we needed. Ruth and I would highly recommend The Coach House, and will be looking to return in the future

    Alan2020-02-25T00:00:00Z

    Jack2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Well equipped and spotless. Would highly recommend. The renovation to the quaint little place has been done to a very high standard. We enjoyed our time here.

    Jules2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Liz is a fantastic host and the couch house is so beautiful! We loved it so much we opted to stay indoors by the fire rather than go out most days. Defo worth a visit x

  • Cosy, well equipped cottage in a perfect location for exploring the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean. Lots of local information and even fresh eggs and apples!

    Caroline2019-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this delightful, lovingly restored coach house. It is spotlessly clean, well equipped, warm and cosy. Our hosts kindly left some delicious fresh eggs and fruit and they provide much interesting and useful local information. It is a quiet location but with easy access to the lovely Wye Valley. The food at the local pub, The Hostelrie, was excellent. So much to enjoy on your doorstep

    Ros2019-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • The Coach house is a real home from home. It’s clean, pretty and everything has been thought of. You’ll want for nothing. There’s parking right outside, access on arrival was easy, the bed was huge and super comfortable, nice shower and plenty of hot water. We were given some eggs and fresh fruit too which was lovely. Goodrich itself is very well situated for exploring the Wye Valley. Would highly recommend the Coach House.

Come enjoy the spectacular River Wye from our comfortable chalet offering wonderful views, great walking, biking and canoeing on your doorstep. We are within easy walking distance of 5 pubs and restaurants. We have everything you might need for a lovely self catering holiday with accommodation for up to 4 people having a double bedroom and two sofa beds. We are next door if you forgot or need anything. Dogs are acceptable with prior arrangement and an extra £5/night/dog. No parties.
The chalet is cozy, comfortable and you feel very connected to the out-of-doors as there are fantastic views from every room. There is a double bedroom and extra sleeping accommodation with a sofa that converts to a single bed and a futon sofa into a double bed. Both are very comfortable. We often sit outside just watching the weather, birds and life pass us by. Guests are welcome to use the flat lawn area in front of the chalet to bask in the sun, enjoy the evening air (in front of and left of the bench in the third picture). For those rainy days, you can curl up and watch programmes on the Smart TV while watching the weather happen on the river and hills of the valley. We have gas BBQ that can be used by prior arrangement and a fire bowl that can be used with either charcoal or wood. Upon reqest, we can provide an iron/ironing board and may be able to arrange access to our washer and dryer. Please note the following: The ceilings are low, but this is offset by the large windows bringing in the light and great views (take a look at the pictures). Access to the chalet is an unpaved footpath leading up hill from the car parking area to the elevated position of the chalet. We do not require a security deposit at this time. However, this means that we are fully reliant on our guests to be honest about breakage, spillage and damage so that we can resolve when you check out.
We are next to Ye Old Ferrie Inn, Paddocks Hotel and just down the lane from Wye Knott pub. A short walk away is The aMazing Hedge Puzzle with a butterfly museum, crazy golf and laser tag. There is also an arcade and bar on the nearby caravan park and a restaurant and bar at the Old Court Hotel. In Whitchurch (10-15 minute walk) is the village shop/cafe, The Potting Shed cafe/restaurant and a The Crown curry restaurant and pub. A lovely 45min walk or a much shorter rope ferrie ride takes you to the other side of the river where you can hike up to Yat Rock where the Peregrine falcons can be seen. There are pubs, restaurants and other amenities there too.

The hosts are really kind and helpful and gave us great tips on how to get around. The chalet is beautifully clean and well presented and the welcome basket is a great touch. We intend to visit again some time and will look up Maureen’s chalet before anything else.

Set in the stunning Wye Valley the Game Larders is a great place to return to after enjoying all the sights and sounds on your doorstep.
  • We had a very enjoyable and relaxing short break. The Game Larders was very comfortable and cosy, and is set in a beautiful location. There are walks from the door and also interesting places to visit further afield. We hope to visit again one day. Jamie was a great host and we had everything we needed including a bottle of wine from the vineyard.

  • Couldn't have asked for a better place to spend the New Year! Jamie was a great host and his place was clean, spacious and has bags of character. The whole area was beautiful and was perfect for dog walks. I only wish we'd stayed there longer!

    Mike2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place in beautiful grounds. The bed was very comfortable and the place was clean and very cosy. A really nice place to stay in a quiet and secluded spot.

  • A beautiful and romantic property surrounded by gorgeous countryside. We had a lovely time enjoy the peaceful grounds and wider area. The house had everything we needed including a bottle of of the estate wine! Bear in mind this is an older property which can get cold in winter so bring appropriate clothes.

    Ed2019-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • Jamie was wonderfully accommodating with quick responses and flexibility from the start, and made us feel very much at home. At late notice he found us a space on his wine tour (which was fantastic) and allowed us to check out late. Please do try the wine from their vineyards - it's deserving of the award-winning status. The location is stunning and a short drive to the Forest of Dean where we went on long walks. The accommodation is set in wonderful grounds with a lake and large tudor house. Definitely a great experience I'd recommend to anyone. Thanks Jamie!!!

    Nick2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • After such a warm welcome from Jamie we had an amazing couple of days stay. The accommodation is packed with historic charm and the surroundings are beautiful! Plenty of picturesque walks to keep to dog entertained.

    Matthew2019-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • Tranquil - historic surrounds in a great location. A real olde-world feel. The bottle of wine grown by Jamie in the vineyard was a lovely welcome gift.

    Neil2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely stunning house and the location is beautiful. If we’d have planned better we would have gone exploring. Jamie couldn’t have been more helpful and is a fantastic host. The cottage we stayed in was lovely, lots of character and spotlessly clean. Bear in mind this is an extremely old property so there are some creaky floorboards, but for us it just added to the stay. If you can, organise a wine tour at the property with Jamie; the wines are truly delicious!!!

The Cottage is a converted stable, the original building is 150 years old. It's been sympathetically converted to provide well equipped comfortable accommodation. There's a private courtyard garden by a babbling brook. The Cottage is centrally heated a combi boiler provides continuous hot water. The cottage is on one level. There is a double/twin bedded room with en-suite tiled shower room. A large living room has a sofa bed & a door leading to the private courtyard garden. Dogs are welcome.
A lovely village, that has a great Church (All Saints, Newland also known as the Cathedral of the Forest). A fab village pub The Ostrich also welcomes dogs. Easy access to the Wye Valley and all it's attractions plus lots of walks on the doorstep.
  • Good location, host very helpful and contactable. Better value than hotels in the area. We visited for a wedding but would consider returning for a short break to the area

  • Rookery Cottage is clean, warm, cosy and I can imagine that in the summer using the back garden is delightful But in winter, there was a hose to wash dog down and the cottage was toasty warm. Newland is in a really pretty area, ideal for exploring the Forest of Dean as close to Coleford village and all the lovely Wye Valley walks and pubs but not far from all the cycle and walking routes around Speech House.

The Granary is a detached, self catering stone built character cottage, believed to be over 300 years old. It is converted from a former dairy and grain store, and retains many original features which gives this spacious king size bedded cottage a romantic feel. It is surrounded by fields and woodland and indeed the Gloucestershire Way runs right by the door as well as the Wysis Way and there are many Forest walks available directly from the cottage.
The Granary has been sympathetically restored to provide you with a spacious, clean and comfortable holiday cottage in the beautiful Forest of Dean. It has a delightful garden which has lots of birds and in the summer it is humming with bees and butterflies. The Granary has its own private enclosed cottage garden overlooking farmland. Some guests may be very lucky and see passing badgers, foxes, deer and even get a visit from the wild boar! The small holding upon which the cottage is set is situated in a picturesque valley within an area protected for wildlife in the Forest of Dean. The cottage has several other residents the chickens - their eggs are for sale subject to availability!! Sometimes the owners’ sheep graze in their adjacent field. • Really recommend this lovely little cottage! We went on a long walk locally - the forest really is on your doorstep. We self catered the whole weekend and the kitchen was very well equipped. Had no issues with the WiFi. Slept very well in the huge bed.

  • If you need to get away and have a quiet couple of days to yourself then this is the place for you. When we walked in you were treated with a lovely welcoming package and a card. The place was warm, inviting, clean and there were plenty of things to do from board games, cards, reading and just going out n bout in the great Forest of Dean. Would definitely use again. Thank you Emma.

  • We stayed at Emma and David's cottage for 8 nights and it was absolutely brilliant. Fully equipped kitchen, large comfy bedroom, and a super cosy lounge with incredible views of the hills out the back door. So many thoughtful touches throughout the space including books and games, extra blankets, and even a welcome gift basket and fresh eggs - yumm! The location is close to many many walking trails, pubs, and shops in nearby towns and the cottage itself is off the main street, so expect really quiet nights. We HIGHLY recommend staying at Emma and David's cottage and wish we could have stayed longer!

    Ornella2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely little cottage that has everything you will need for a short stay. Everything works as it should, is perfectly clean and very comfortable, and the hosts left a lovely welcome package including a bottle of Prosecco Communication from Emma was spot on, as were the directions to the cottage. Happy New Year, Emma, and thanks again.

Ruardean is a typical Forest of Dean village with a interesting history including Horlicks of the famed malted drink. It has a post office incorporating a village store, garage, farm shop/cafe (200m). The village pub 'The Malt Shovel Inn' dates back many centuries and is old fashioned in approach and friendly. Other local pubs are The Forge Hammer which is also home to its own micro brewery and also a curry restaurant and take away and The Royal Spring. The Forest is easily accessible and Puzzle Wood (Star Wars, Merlin etc) is about 15 mins away by car (Coleford). The cottage is an ideal hub for the Forest but remember Gloucester, Cardiff, Cheltenham, Monmouth or Hereford are all well within a short car trip... should the peace or all of the Forest's outside activities prove too much to bear. Our international guests often go further afield to visit Warick Castle (12th century) and Shakespeare country; Stratford upon Avon.

Without doubt our all time favorite Airbnb find.

Responsible Travel - no bookings Apr/May-Coronavirus. Tasteful conversion of an old outbuilding “where the cider mill donkey once lived", Forest of Dean. A detached, clean & comfortable private escape for you to unwind & enjoy the views over an old perry pear orchard managed for wildlife. Neighbourhood of similar smallholdings & valley farmland with direct access to forest walks & perfect for stargazing. Friendly sheep & our pet alpacas Badger & Bracken may be grazing in the field nearby.
Literally just off the beaten track, a privately located & slightly elevated detached cottage arranged on one level with lovely views. We live further along the track and are on hand to help but equally we’re respectful of your privacy allowing you to completely relax and unwind. Open-plan living area with a well equipped modern kitchen area. Patio doors plus full length windows to take advantage of the far reaching countryside views & for wildlife watching. The bedroom has a king-size bed, with a quality feather-effect duvet & pillows (suitable for vegans). There are thick curtains for a good nights sleep, though if left open, you may watch the sunrise over the valley directly from your bed. Modern en-suite shower room with plentiful hot water & good water pressure. SPRING Wake to the sound of birdsong & take short stroll from the cottage & you’re in beech woodlands carpeted with scented bluebells & natural babbling springs. SUMMER Open the patio doors in the living area to make the most of the gentle valley breeze and enjoy the views. Sit outside at night & stargaze. AUTUMN Experience the beautiful displays of autumnal leaf colour in the adjacent woods & forage for chestnuts. WINTER A well insulated cottage for winter with modern electric radiators plus a cosy wood burner. Snuggle up in front of the fire and enjoy the views. The land is primarily managed for wildlife. Buzzards fly above along the woodland edge, green woodpeckers forage the field, squirrels climb along trees by the stream. At night you may hear the owls. A badger will often pass by on its evening route (dependant on the time of year). A small herd of family owned friendly Jacob sheep (some have been hand reared) are usually in the field next to the cottage. They rotationally graze with other neighbours so we can’t always guarantee they’ll be there. Our inquisitive pet alpacas Badger & Bracken are usually around. Sorry no dogs due to the proximity of the livestock. Facilities:- - The bathroom is a modern shower room with a large corner shower with plentiful hot water & good water pressure (no bath). - TV with built in DVD player - Drawer full of board games, playing cards, DVDs etc. - Books, local maps and guides - Cafetiere (no coffee maker) - Microwave, double oven & grill, dishwasher, washer/dryer, freestanding fridge/freezer. - Blankets for outdoor use in the evenings should you wish to sit outside longer to watch the wildlife and stargaze (kept in the monks bench). - Cosy real wood burner, first basket of logs free of charge. A peaceful valley of scattered cottages, smallholdings and farmland outside the settlement boundary of Mitcheldean, in open countryside, on the woodland edge of the Forest of Dean. The area is rich in wildlife and the Gloucestershire Way and Wysis Way footpaths run opposite. St Antony’s Well can be found in beech woodlands with bluebells at the end of the lane. The large village of Mitcheldean is within a 20 minute walk where there is a Coop, convenience store, butchers, pharmacy, florist, library, takeaways, automated petrol station, car repair etc. The local brewery, Bespoke Brewery opens their brewery tap bar most weekends. Jolter Press, a local cider & perry maker has a bar that’s usually open on a Friday evening. Both are situated in The Mews, Mitcheldean.

  • This is a place not to be missed, we stayed during a few cold February days and enjoyed the cosiness not just of the logburner but the whole place. Really clean lovely shower room, comfy bed, fully equipped kitchen and cosy lounge area, with great views from every window. We want to return in summer to take advantage of that tempting bench which it was just too cold to sit out on when we got back from a day out, even with the blankets provided! Lucy was helpful with everything, and a great host.

    Wendy2020-02-07T00:00:00Z

Tucked away in the woods, Sacred Tree Spirit is a beautifully quirky escape from the stresses of modern life. Jon is a sound therapy practitioner and craftsman, so you could have a relaxing sound session or learn to make a spoon during your stay. There are all manner of interesting details in the house and in the grounds, a fire pit and wood fired spa pool are amongst them. A sculpture trail is an upcoming project. This unique place to stay might interest someone ready to rekindle creativity.

Just a short walk away from many of the hiking trails that run all the way along the river and right next to some excellent pubs in Symonds Yat. The location couldn’t be any more perfect. Jon was a fantastic host during my stay. He even drew a detailed map to help me with my walk to the pub on the first day. I would highly recommend staying here and have already planned to go back myself!

Jon is incredibly helpful and friendly and has great knowledge of the local area and the best places to walk in the surrounding woods. The space is ideal for 2-4 people with good sized bedrooms and living/dining area. The cottage is cosy and very well presented with all the amenities you need. Decorated to a high standard. We would highly recommend.

  • A truly magical place, in a great location with exceptional hospitality. Everything you could wish for and many things you wouldn’t dream of is provided. We had a wonderful relaxing week, didn’t want to leave and hope to return soon. The photos do not do the place justice. The chapel is an absolute gem!

    Hannah2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Just returned from a wonderful couple of days at this beautifully restored chapel. Viccky was a great host from the moment we booked - quickly responding to our questions, to lighting the log burner before arrival to ensure a warm and cosy reception. Not to mention the homemade cake, glass of fizz and fridge full of breakfast goods that awaited us. Every little thing you could wish for Viccky had thought of - a 5 star stay in a beautiful location, thank you :)

    Georgina2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very relaxing and special couple of nights stay at The Zion Chapel. The photos can’t do justice to the space itself which is cozy, spacious and very well equipped. Our arrival and access was easy and trouble free, even though it was late evening and dark at the time. Indeed It may have been the perfect time to arrive at Zion Chapel as Vicky has already fired up the wood burner, turned on the pretty lights inside and left us a welcome gift of homemade cake and a bottle of Prosecco. It certainly helped us feel at home almost immediately. There was provisions in the fridge for a cooked breakfast, plenty of cereal, bread, milk as well as tea and coffee. The bed was very comfortable and we had a very peaceful night sleep. The rain shower was also lovely and hot. On the second day we left a chilli in the Aga to slow cook and set out to explore The Forest of Dean. We would highly recommend Zion Chapel to all our friends and family.

  • Lovely setting, fabulous little touches from the host. Made the effort to supply some home made Gluten Free shortbread which was incredible... It was a real pleasure to stay in such a tastefully refurbished property with everything we could possibly need from a wood burner to board games. Will be recommending to anybody who listens...

  • Highly recommend this lovely place. A very warm welcome from the hosts who left us breakfast and a bottle of bubbles. The chapel has been converted very sympathetically and is extremely cosy. The underfloor heating and log burner keep this place cosy and toastie after long walks. There is a private courtyard at the back of the property that protects you from the wind and a lovely terrace out the front for the sunnier times. There is a garden area to the side and you are able to take woodland walks from the front door. Great for dogs (who loved the log burner!). Great personal touches from the hosts and some lovely fluffy robes in the bathroom. Comfy seats to read a book and rest from a day of walking. Fully equipped kitchen and good WiFi. Thanks for a lovely stay.

Our place is close to countryside. The Wye Valley is a AONB where you can walk, cycle, canoe and explore the many tracks through woodland and farmland. You’ll love it because of the peace and tranquility. A private romantic hideaway where you can cuddle up in front of a roaring woodburning stove to keep away the winter blues. We are within easy reach of Monmouth with it's bijou quirky shops and eateries. The nearest pub is the Mill Race a 40minute walk but not in the dark. Takeaways deliver.
Pat and Richard would like to welcome you to their newly refurbished cider barn. It has one double bed, kitchenette, wet room and lounge with TV. Also we have a woodburning stove as well as radiators. There is a small patio and access to part of the garden. There is ample off road parking, secure bicycle storage. Eggs available from our own hens. Although we own a pet ourselves we have decided not to accept pets as guests. No smoking please. Three nights minimum stay. We are within two miles of Ross-on-Wye. There is fine dining and several pubs within easy reach. There are opportunities for walking, fishing and canoeing in this Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. We look forward to meeting you. We own and drive a 1939 MG and would particularly welcome MG drivers and will offer them cash back if they arrive in an MG. In fact being old car people we especially welcome anyone in an old car. Although the wireless WiFi is adequate for email, internet surfing and shopping etc it is not strong enough to stream films. The television does incorporate a DVD player and there is a small selection of DVDs in the Barn. There is also a number of popular boxed games, Scrabble etc.

  • A fabulous Airbnb- clean, welcoming, and well kitted out with lovely touches. We particularly enjoyed the log burner! The barn is well located for enjoying the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley. Richard and Pat were welcoming guests, and I’ recommend anyone to go and check out this stay.

  • Perfect place to escape from busy city life. Cosy, clean, quiet and relaxing. We were greeted warmly by Richard and were welcomed with a few treats, which were much appreciated. We couldn’t fault this place and have never slept so well!

  • What a great, cosy stay in a wonderful location. The log burner was perfect and the gifts on arrival were very welcome! Thank you Pat & Richard for being such wonderful hosts!

  • Our second visit to the barn was just as amazing as last year. Very clean place with all the amenities you need. The log burner is our favourite, so cosy on a cold winters night, with a log store where you can grab some more logs. There are many walking books in the barn, so we read through these and found a few delightful walks that were fabulous. Spending New Years here for the second time was lovely. This year we stayed in and cooked a meal and we had everything we needed to do so. I would recommend Wenslow Barn and Pat and Richard as hosts to anyone. Will be back again!

  • A real rarity of a superbly set out and designed self-contained separated space and Pat & Richard have the balance just right as attentive hosts. Great extra touches (find out for yourselves!). Great spot for a 'digital detox' too! Lovely variety of country walks from the door. Recommend Monmouth for a visit. Or just stop in the barn and read something.

  • The barn is very clean and cosy, the log burner is great in those cold evenings and we loved the mezzanine bedroom above. Pat and Richard were very helpful and we would thoroughly recommend staying in Wenslow Barn.
