Elaine & Johns Cottages are five star luxury with modern interior and comfort. Pamper yourself with lots to do and see whilst staying in a truly home from home. The village of Plains, Airdrie on the A89. Situated in the heart of central Scotland midway between Glasgow & Edinburgh our central location is an ideal base for both cities. Relax in our traditional Scottish cottage which dates from 1900, a former miners cottage which has now been renovated whilst retaining period features.
Guests will have full and unrestricted access to the entire cottage during their stay. There is also a large enclosed rear garden that guests can use. The cottage is bright and airy and the lounge has a coal fire with reclining chairs. This is not a party place!!!
The cottage is situated in a quiet residential area and benefits from being adjacent to farmland and fields. Very quiet and peaceful setting. This is not for partying!!!

  • We had a fabulous few days at Elaine and John's cottage. Place was lovely and cosy, well equipped and the welcome basket was a lovely touch. Elaine was so welcoming, and John sorted my husband out with a mountain bike so he could have a day out on that which was great. Hot tub is the icing on the cake! Would absolutely recommend the cottage and would definitely stay here again!

    Fully refurbished spacious 1 bedroom flat with comfortable living area and fully equipped kitchen. The flat is a ground floor apartment with private access with a small private garden to the rear. Situated in a quite street in Airdrie, close to local amenities such as shops and restaurants. Perfect commuter flat with it being close to Airdrie train station, easy links to Glasgow and Edinburgh. Also gives easy access to the motorway for Glasgow, Edinburgh and Stirling.
    Great flat for small families looking to enjoy the many fun activities in Glasgow and its surrounding areas. The flat offers a comfortable double room along with a large sofa bed in the living room which can easily sleep up to two guests.
    The flat is in a quiet area but there is plenty around to do. There is a small connivence store just one street up from the flat. There is also a number of large supermarkets just over a mile away from the property. There is a number of restaurants and bars nearby and petrol stations around a mile away from the flat. From the flat it is easy to get to a number of local attractions such as The Time Capsule Leisure Centre, Summerlee Heritage Park and Drumplier Country Park.

    Private room, beige coloured egyptian themed. memory foam padded sofa bed. Wifi is provided Shared living room area with access to TV and seating. Kitchen access with amenities. A kettle, fridge/freezer toaster, oven ect. There is also a commercial coffee machine that provides freshly ground, free coffee. Bathroom includes shower/bath, gel/shampoo/conditioner, razors can be provided upon request.
    We are opening up our guest room for rent whilst we still live in the property. We have been told our place is like a 'miniature zoo'. This is a PET FRIENDLY household, we have many pets here. Interaction with them is optional. Included are our pets below. 2 Cats - They loosely wander around inside and out at their leisure 6 ferrets - They stay in their own specific room and are not let out unless requested 1 snake - The snake lives in a large secured vivarium in the guest room you will be sleeping in. You may handle the snake if you ask us! They're very friendly! Fish tank - In the kitchen (betta fish and dwarf frogs) We have no problems with guests wanting to interact with our animals, as long as they ask first!
    Albion rovers football stadium is a 2 minute walk, large retail parks are only a 10 minute walk away. Lots of green space around for walking dogs.

    The house is down a private road which it's condition isn't great so drive slow. Some of the best restaurants pubs and shops in hamilton and transport are all within a short walking distance Anything you need is less than 10 min walk I also have a large garage should you want to keep your motorcycle for trips up the North of Scotland. I have two dogs, there friendly but bare in mind it's a property with pets. Great cheap accommodation in the centre of hamilton.
    The room has been freshly decorated with new furniture, there is a TV with now TV and sky entertainment package,so you can watch Netflix etc.
    4 houses down a private road it's very safe and very quiet!

  • Lyam's home is facing Hamilton racecourse and has amazing views and close to all amenities inc a retail park and good restaurants. He has 2 dogs who are really friendly. Lyam is a great fella to talk to. The room is very cost with Now TV on a big flat screen TV and a very comfortable double bed. All in all a great stay in a lovely house

  • It was a superb stay, handy for the buses, good sleep, friendly dogs to make a fuss of too. Check in was really easy and Lyam gave me great directions. The place is really handy for walking in Strathclyde park and there is a Lidl close by for supplies. Very convenient and good value.

His house is well-situated not far from the motorway junction, which was perfect for our stay as we drove through.     My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, families (with kids), and furry friends (pets). The property is ideally situated for commuting to Glasgow and Edinburgh. The flat is close to restaurants, bars shops and fast food. Being in Motherwell centre it had has access to local amenities, leisure facilities including the Aquatec Complex, Pure Gym and local education facilities. Strathclyde Country park and North Lanarkshire Civic Centre and Theatre are all close by.
    A modern and spacious ground floor flat provides all home comforts with the bonus of being 2 minutes walk from shops and all main amenities close by. Tea coffee and biscuits provided. Travel cot and high chair available on request.

Absolutely spotlessly clean, modern, well appointed with thoughtful touches like tea, coffee, fresh milk and orange juice in the fridge plus the basics in the cupboard like salt, pepper, vinegar etc. Absolutely brilliant contact with Sue and she very kindly let me get in early as I arrived in the morning on the night train. First class all round, thoroughly recommended.

  • We stayed in Sue’s brilliant apartment for nearly 3 weeks. We had to leave our own house due to water damage under our bath but the apartment was a haven for us to escape to. We had to extend our stay three times due to works overrunning, Sue couldn’t be more helpful in making our stay relaxed. Apartment was very comfortable with everything you could want, lovely bathroom with fantastic shower. Area very quiet and very close to all amenities. Less than a minute walk to local restaurants. We would certainly stay there again and have no issues in recommending this apartment. Fantastic host, Fantastic place.

    1 bedroom apartment, just renovated and in excellent condition. New Kitchen. 1 Double Bedroom, and Sofa Bed in the living room.
    Images are of actual flat with exception of the image with the TV and the Sofa. Both images are of neighbouring flat (which I live in) - the sofa and TV for the actual flat on Air BnB hadn't arrived when taking photographs.
    Cambusnethan is a desirable area on the outskirts of Wishaw. The apartment is situated in a private housing estate built in the 1980's by Wimpey and has great views to the rear, sitting 15 metres back from the street at the front. There is private parking, and a rear garden with plenty space to sit outside and relax or even eat al fresco (weather dependent of course).

  • We had a very restful couple of week’s at Archie’s flat during the Christmas-New Year period. It was great to find this place, in an area without many Air BnB choices. The flat is very well located – shops and takeaway restaurants are close by, and there’s easy highway or train access to Glasgow and Edinburgh. Flat is very clean and comfortable, ideal for one or two travelers. All our communication was handled quickly and usually in person. We recommend this as a great place to stay!

    The town contains a wide selection of cafes, restaurants, pubs and bars, and a variety of shops including the Motherwell Shopping Centre. Motherwell is easily accessible by road as it lies next to the M74 motorway and bus services run to a variety of destinations including Hamilton, East Kilbride, Airdrie, Glasgow and Lanark. There are three railway stations which provide links to local destinations such as Edinburgh and Glasgow and places in England as far as London. Strathclyde Country Park lies between Motherwell and nearby Hamilton. The park includes the remains of a Roman fort and bath house, and is home to M&Ds, one of Scotland's theme parks. Motherwell Concert Hall regularly holds concerts and other shows.

The apartment is centrally located, supermarkets are within walking distance and easily accessible, even with a car. Parking is right outside the door.   • Although we spent only one night we enjoyed it. Honore responded quickly to our request ( less than 30 min) despite the fact it was quite late in the evening. The place was clean and quite, we had a good night sleep, her house is less than 5 min drive from the motorway which was great for us because the following day we drove further north. We really enjoyed the chat we had in the morning, Honore was so warm and friendly, definitely will stay again at her place next time when we are in Scotland.

  • Honore is one of life’s wonderful people. She is so warm and friendly. The room was large with a very comfortable double bed. Bathroom was great - lovely shower. I felt very privileged that I was invited to have a Christmas drink with some of her family. They were all lovely and we had a great craic! The house is very handy for the motorway so it was only a few minutes before I continued my southward journey! I’d really like to stay over again when I visit my youngest son in the new year!   • Stuart’s and his family are amazing hosts. He is very responsive and communicative. He offered me to pick up at the station that’s I respectfully declined in the beginning because his home is literally two minutes walk from the station but When I arrived at Wishaw station, it was raining and my GPS was not working. I called him and asked for a help and in next few minutes, he was there to pick me up with a big smile. He, Diane and Lizzie are very friendly and I felt like home during my entire stay. They open their whole house for me and gave me a personal key to come and go as I please. Room was sparkling clean with adjustable heat and private bathroom with walk-in shower. Stuart’s yogurt breakfast is a must try. He makes sure that you have the breakfast the way you want it. When I was checking out, I was carrying a baggage and Diane, though, she came from a night shift, she dropped me at the station. I can’t thank them enough for their hospitality. They really go out of their way to make you feel as comfortable as they can. Highly recommend and I am definitely staying again.

Breakfast was great and we had access to the kitchen to make tea etc. Always biscuits on hand. We were staying in Wishaw to visit family so the location was perfect.   • This place is just fabulous. Give a half hours notice of your arrival and you will be greeted with a lovely pot of tea/biscuits/fruit. The house is in pristine condition. Both bedrooms have private bathroom facilities. There’s a lovely little TV room that you could have to yourselves or you are warmly welcomed to use the rest of the house which has some great design features. It’s vicinity (a short walk from the railway station) is also a bonus- no point taking your car to Glasgow- the train is far more convenient. Don’t let the closeness of the trains put you off - I heard the first one or two and didn’t notice them after that. Stuart, Diane and Lizzie are such a gorgeous family- the warmth is there from the first second. They really do open their home up to you but you are of course free to come and go as you wish. I would highly recommend this Airbnb for all sorts of reasons but the experience you get for the price paid is outstanding - don’t miss this opportunity!

  • We had a wonderful stay here. House is spacious and had everything we needed. It was clean and well organised. Kitchen was loaded with crockeries, cutleries etc. there were also basic food items such as cooking oil, sugar and so on.. Towels were sufficiently provided. I absolutely had no issues and everything seemed perfect, there is a convienience store just in front of house in case one need anything like milk or bread... People around were friendly. The Host is proactive in communication and we were in touch on phone. The place is centrally located between Glasgow and Edinburgh. I went with my family of 6 with two children and we all enjoyed the stay. I would recommed this place.

We stayed 4 nights and found the place extremely suitable for our needs. The wifi was excellent, and all the amenities are in good order. The oven works brilliantly, 100% recommend this place. Also, across the road is a little dairy (NZ for corner store) which sells a range of goods. The neighbours are friendly and the street is quiet. There is an outside clothesline, as well as an inside clotheshanger for drying clothes.

  • Superb location if you want to experiance scotland, as its 20minutes to glasgow, 1 hr to edinburgh, although the train station is only 5 minutes from the cabin and it's free parking so we took advantage of that rather than the hassle of driving and paying crazy parking fees in edinburgh. Cabin is obviously not full size so if you think of it as luxurious glamping you will not be disapointed, we certainly wern't! There is even a hidden loft bed for a child. The cabin is fully kitted out with a shower, toilet, towels, eating utensils, microwave , dressing gowns for the hot tub. Its all lit up on the night time so you can find your way to the hot tub. For the money you could not ask for more. Hot tub is superb always on and sitting at 40c 😁. The area is just outside of Airdrie but far enough away to feel like your in the countryside. The host fiona is very friendly and went over and beyond what we expected. Fiona gave us a warm welcome on arrival , nothing was to much trouble, We look forward to staying an soon.

From the moment, I entered the property on the Friday night, till the moment, I left, it was so tranquil and even though it's not far from Airdrie, it felt like it was in the country. The host has good facilities in the house, including the Virgin Media TV, which I absolutely loved. The place was so warm and welcoming. The highlight of the weekend was the generosity the Host showed by collecting me to go to the property as, I had explained to him I was unsure of the buses to get to the place for the first time. I would thoroughly recommend anybody to stay here and savour the warm hospitality I was shown. I really thought the stay was amazing value for money too.

    A comfortable double room with real double bed in a luxurious two bedroomed flat. This property is unsuitable for mobility impaired people as we're on the second floor. You are welcome to share our living room although you have your own tv in the room. Exclusive use of the bathroom as we use our en-suite. You can also use the kitchen. Cereals and toast included as are tea & coffee. Full cooked breakfast available at extra charge. Excellent transport links to Glasgow and Edinburgh.
    This is a comfortable double room with tv and tea & coffee making facilities in your room. The guest bathroom is along a short hallway and is kept exclusively for guests. You can use the kitchen for preparing and cooking meals within reason. The neighbourhood is very quiet and there is free off road parking. At a reasonable cost we can sometimes collect from Glasgow and Edinburgh airports and can also take you to the airports should you wish to leave your car at our place whilst away. It works out considerably cheaper than parking at the airport.

  • Sharing the apartment with the lovely and easy-going hosts, you get great views and a very clean, pleasant bedroom and bathroom, plus all you need for a decent breakfast, with an option to pay for a cooked breakfast. We enjoyed chatting with Danny and Ruth but they respect your space and you can be quiet if that is your preference. Plenty of parking in the area next door to the flats. Quite near the motorway, so a good stop if you’re driving a long distance. Can hop on a train to visit central Glasgow, so that’s another plus. The local area seems pleasant. You can walk into town and there is a modern swimming pool very close by.

We walked to the train station and went into Glasgow on an off peak return (£4.50 each - cheaper than car parking) and had a great day sightseeing. The room was comfortable and we had our own sparkling clean bathroom and visiting the city was really easy. We would certainly recommend this Airbnb.

    The location of the flat is perfect for people in the area that need to commute easily to Glasgow, Edinburgh or both. Bellshill train station is walkable in 15 minutes or a few pounds in a taxi. Large 46" TV in the lounge, Bose bluetooth speaker, 42" TV in the bedroom... Local shops nearby for essentials & a 24hr Tesco is just a few minutes drive away for a bigger shop. The street itself is very quiet
    The town itself is quite quiet with a few places to eat and drink. The location of the flat allows you to easily get to Motherwell, Hamilton, Bothwell, etc either by driving or by the near by train station. There are trains running into Glasgow every 20 minutes or so, all throughout the day until very late in the evening.
  • The pictures really don't do the place justice. It's a modern, spacoius flat in a really quiet area perfect for one or two people. Everything you'd need is in the flat including a great coffee machine and probably the comfiest bed I've ever slept in. Keith is also a great host, super quick to reply and answer any questions I had. I'll be back!

  • I would highly recommend The Douglas it is ideally located on Uddingston Main Street among the many shoos, cafes , pubs and restaurants. The flat is very stylishly furnished and impeccably clean. The owners Ann and Graham are a lovely couple who are on hand to help if and when needed.
