Welcome to Fairholme, brought to you exclusively by Character Cottages, local specialists in stylish, Cotswold holiday rentals. Fairholme is a wonderful Grade II listed property which sleeps four guests, in two elegant bedrooms, with a spacious family bathroom. Dating back to the 17th century, this Cotswold stone property has retained lovely character features including exposed beams, an exposed Cotswold stone chimney breast and a large fireplace in the living room with a roaring real fire. These period features have been complemented by stylish furnishings and modern facilities, including wireless internet access, a Freeview TV and a well-equipped kitchen. There is a pretty garden to the rear of the property and free on-street parking is available close by. Fairholme is located in the picturesque town of Northleach, an unspoilt town which boasts a number of independent shops, restaurants and pubs, including The Wheatsheaf Inn which is just a stone’s throw from the property itself. The town prospered during the Cotswold wool trade and this funded the impressive 15th century church of St Peter and St Paul. Every Wednesday, locals and tourists alike come to the town for the open-air market which showcases local produce, and the annual Northleach Charter Fair and Music Festival in June is a wonderful event for all ages. On the outskirts of the town sits Stowell Park, a private estate whose stunning gardens are open to the public during the months of May and June each year, offering fine views over the Coln Valley and displaying gorgeous flowers. Northleach is surrounded by the beautiful countryside of the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with many cycle routes and walking trails on its doorstep to explore. It is also well placed for visiting the other lovely towns and villages of the Cotswolds, including Cirencester, Burford, Bourton-on-the-Water and Chedworth, home to the Roman Villa which is owned by the National Trust. Further afield destinations such as Stratford-upon-Avon, Oxford and Bath are also within easy reach for day trips. Important Customer Notice: - Special Events: Christmas, New Year and the Cheltenham Horse Racing Festival are Special Events, with bookings typically limited to weeks only from a specific start day If your dates don’t appear to fit, then please click Contact Host below to find out what options may exist for you!

This tranquil area houses an outdoor table with seating for four, a parasol and a charcoal barbecue, making it a delightful space to relax in the warmer weather. The Cotswolds are characterised by attractive small towns and villages, built of the underlying Cotswold stone (a yellow oolitic limestone). In the Middle Ages the wool trade made the Cotswolds prosperous and some of this money was put into the building of churches, leaving the area with a number of large handsome Cotswold stone "wool churches". The area remains affluent, which has encouraged the establishment of many high quality pubs, restaurants and antique shops.

  • Great place set away from traffic. But still pretty close to the main road. Looks quaint outside, but very well done inside with all the amenities you could want.

  • This cottage is steeped in character, lovingly furnished, and super cosy. It had two well appointed bedrooms and bathrooms, and as two couples travelling we had plenty of room. We enjoyed walks directly from the property and would definitely recommend it for a quintessential stay in the Cotswolds.

  • We have stayed in this gem of a cottage before so I knew our stay would be a very comfortable one. The cottage is deceptively spacious and very welcoming. It would be my ‘go to’ cottage booking in the Cotswolds.

Benefitting from the best of both worlds, College Farm Cottage enjoys a secluded location but is also the perfect location for exploring Burford and the wider Cotswolds. Please see the framed OS map in the sitting room where College Farm sits exactly cen-trally. In just a 5-10 minute drive you will find yourself on the High Street of Burford, a stunning medieval market town with plenty to offer. The excellent Co-operative su-permarket on the High Street stocks all immediate shopping requirements and is open 7am – 10pm every day of the week. There is also a Co-operative supermarket in Lech-lade, a 5-10 minute drive in the opposite direction to Burford, open 8am-8pm every day. There are some great cafés in Burford. Head towards the historic church and you will discover the newly built Warwick Hall and café, ideal for a morning coffee and snacks. Another good spot for a reviving cup of coffee or tea is Lynwood & Co on the High Street, where you can also buy delicious local artisan-made Sourdough bread and of course the famous Huffkins tea shop. If you find yourself parking in the main car park for Burford near the church (free parking) you will cross the mill-race connecting to the charming River Windrush that meanders through the Cotswolds, a lovely spot to feed the ducks and swans! Burford used to be a major coaching town between London and the West Country and was home to 35 coaching inns! The town still retains 13 pubs, of which some favour-ites are The Angel, a very good gastropub, The Highway and The Lamb on Sheep Street. There’s also a great variety of specialist shops to explore – including Maggie White and the fascinating Tolsey Museum. Alternatively, The Victoria in Eastleach, a very pretty Cotswold village nearby, is about an hour walk from the cottage and is a wonderful pub with good food, recommended by Emma and William. Also highly recommended - The Five Alls in Filkins and The Bell in Langford, both excellent pubs. All are popular so booking is essential. Around 5 miles south of the cottage, you will find Lechlade-on-Thames, a small historic town on the Thames, from which London could be reached by boat. With plenty of walks, a thriving market square, pubs, cafes and antique shops, Lechlade is slightly off the beaten tourist track compared to Burford and makes for a great day out. Here you will find a fantastic butcher, Cutler & Bayliss, selling high quality meat, cheese, fresh vegetables and bread as well as another Lynwood & Co café. If you fancy exploring a bit further afield, the beautiful ancient Roman market town of Cirencester is about 10 miles south and also there’s Witney which is an easy 11-mile drive east towards Oxford. Like Cirencester it has a great array of high street shops, larger supermarkets such as M&S, Waitrose and Sainsbury’s, eateries and a modern cinema complex. Also, around 15 miles away is the renowned Daylesford Organic Farm in Kingham, a farm complex that offers a farm shop, restaurant, spa as well as other activities such as farm tours and cooking courses. See the Burford Guidebook for further information.

The Barn is situated in the beautiful Cotswold village of Windrush which is on the borders of Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire. The Barn was converted into a detached house in the 1970s. There are many walks close by including the Cotswold Way. We are the next village along from the beautiful Sherborn Estate, where Springwatch and Autumn watch were filmed. I have one double bedroom with double bed with private bathroom. There is free parking.
The Barn is situated on the edge of the village of Windrush. It is very quiet and tranquil. There are far reaching views from the house and garden. It would make an ideal retreat for artists. It is close to the beautiful Cotswold town of Burford and only 3.1 miles away from Stone Barn a popular wedding venue. It is 1 mile off the A40 which makes it ideal for sightseeing around Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire. We are only 20 miles from the famous Cheltenham Race course. We are 8 miles from Bourton on the Water otherwise known as the Little Venice of the Cotswolds.
Windrush is a beautiful Cotswold village with a church and a village hall where many functions are held. The National Trust Sherborne Estate is one mile away where there is a thriving shop with a cafe which sells delicious coffee and cakes. There are walks all over Sherborne Estate. There is a Pub at Little Barrington which is one mile away which serves delicious food.
  • Jackie's home is beautifully situated with fantastic views over the surrounding countryside. The bed was super comfy, great shower and we were made to feel very much at home. Jackie was flexible around our check in timing which made our weekend very much easier to manage.

  • We could not recommend this place more highly. The house was beautiful, quaint and clean and the room comfy and beautifully cosy. The real gem in this experience, however, was Jackie who is a fabulous and gracious host! Nothing was too much trouble, but the highlight for us was getting to share breakfast with her as we chatted with her about all aspects of life, which was really wonderful! We’ll definitely be making another visit not only for the house and wealth of things to do in the area but for the lovely hostess with the mostest! Thank you, Jackie!

  • Always a lovely stay at Jackie’s . Love the peace and quiet of staying in Windrush . Jackie’s house is gorgeous, using her kitchen for any meal is a bonus. Jackie is one of the loveliest people we have met on our travels . Our favourite AirBnB to relax in .

  • Lovely stay in Jackie’s home, perfect base for a local wedding and Jackie was very helpful with recommending a taxi firm. Check in and check out was simple and flexible, and the room was very clean and comfortable.

  • Absolutely loved staying at Ursula's stylish, comfortable, quiet & well equipped annexe. Lovely countryside location in small hamlet with quick access to many of Cotswolds attractions. Great range of breakfast items supplied & having microwave meant I could rustle up quick lunch & dinners (no hob or oven but that didn't matter). Excellent communication at all times. I would highly recommend this Airbnb & would love to stay again.

Museums and archaeological sites As an important area to the Romans, Cirencester and the surrounding villages offer some interesting museums and archaeological sites, including the Corinium Museum in Cirencester and Roman sites at nearby Chedworth and Withington.
  • The cottage was spotless and seems new, location to the village was convenient. The closest grocery is about 15-20 minutes away so stock up before you get there especially if you plan to eat at home sometime.Kitchen was well equipped. Very nice and cosy for a couple.

    Nishant2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • To call this place outstanding would be underselling what my experience was. The cottage was more than comfortable, we immediately started referring it to home. Immaculately clean with nice touches like the towel warmer, a comfortable, a true Queen sized bed that was comfortable beyond expectation and a very simple check in process. This was way beyond expectations and nothing I would ask to be modified. In the village it was conveniently located steps from The Swan which provides a great location for pints, breakfast, dinner, whatever was needed that day. I had considered staying at The Swan and fortunately didn't as it would have been a mistake to miss out on this cottage. If you are out of country looking at this location (I am from Canada) do not hesitate to jump right in and book. It will meet your expectations and more. Personally I hope to get the opportunity to stay again.

The place is a little hard to find, but Venetia and Ed were very responsive to our messages and helped us reach the place. The room was so cosy and beautiful, we settled easily within minutes of reaching. It felt like we were at home. We would love to stay here again.

  • We absolutely loved our stay...the place was perfect for us. We loved the look of the place, it was well thought out, the location is stunning and the bed is the most comfortable I've slept on ...so much so that I'm hoping Venetia can let me know what make it is so I can buy one the same :-)There were lovely thoughtful touches too like milk and water in the fridge when we got there. We had a brilliant day out in Bourton On The Water at the motoring museum...I recommend it if you haven't been there yet. Thank you again Venetia

  • Thank you Alex. everything was neat and tidy. You were very prompt in responding to our requests. House was clean and perfectly located. Got a little lost with directions, but we made it.

  • Alexandra is a fantastic host! She is friendly, helpful and had clearly though out everything one could need on a trip. Providing shampoo, conditioner, tooth paste and even make up remover! All the things I tend to forget. The place is beautiful and nice and cosy with the heater on.

    Joanna2018-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • If AIRBNB wanted to find the model host/ hostess, then Alexandra would be our nominee, bar none. Over the 15 years of staying in AIRBNB apartments, all over the world, we will never forget the warmth and generous way that Alex and Bruno treated us. From helping us (as seniors) with our suitcases, to offering assistance with transport to dinner (after our first day as Americans "driving on the wrong side of the road"), we could not have meen more appreciative. Her roomy residence is extremely tastefully decorated, demonstrating the genuine desire she has to make her guests appreciate her concern. Extremely tasteful breakfast makings were provided so that we were able to leave early with full stomachs. But, we were sad to leave after only one night as Alexandra made us feel so welcome and we hugged and left for our tour around the Cotswolds. Whoops, I forgot to mention that Alex was an incredibly generous communicator with her numerous helpful suggestions by email. What a lady!!

    Steve2018-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • The landlord is very hospitable and very happy. Locations can be found using google map location, don't have a flavor. Bathing hot water is limited, it is recommended to let your girlfriend take a bath first. Wait 20 minutes to re-boil water.

    Jian2018-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at the stable end annex was amazing! We where there for our friends wedding at Stone Barn. it's about the closest place you can stay to Stone Barn (15 min walk or 3 minute drive), which is great as Taxis can be difficult to arrange in the countryside (no uber). Alexandra was very accommodating and provided us with everything we could possibly need or want for our stay and was a truly friendly and fantastic host. She added some great personal touches, like leaving make up remover out for my fiancee for when we got back from the reception. helped us out as a friend (a groomsman) had an issue with there hotel booking so let him stay on the pull out sofa and provided extra blankets and toppers etc for it. the annexe itself was emaculately clean and welcoming. plenty of bits for the continental breakfast in the morning and she was even so kind as to give us an extra hour to lay in before checkout so we could have more time to recover the evenings celebrating. I would defenately recommend staying here if you are going to be in the area, and it will certainly be my first choice should I be.

  • A great place to stay for a short break. Really clean and very well equipped. Located in a quiet and small village, that is very accessible from the A40 and about a 10 minute drive to Burford (where there is free parking!). Would highly recommend the ‘Inn for All Seasons’ which has an especially great fish menu. We had a lovely time and would definitely stay there again.

  • Elder mews is a little gem of a place. Fantastic views looking out over the countryside. The studio was sparkling clean and warm. A car is a must as the local supermarket is a short drive away.

  • Great location, very clean, nice big apartment with everything necessary to spend a few days. It is in a beautiful, peaceful setting- but not too far from shopping and great restaurants! Nice central location in the Cotswalds, perfect for exploring the area. Highly recommend!

  • Fantastic place to stay in the Cotswolds. Not too far to get to Burford and, if you love a country pub, The Fox Inn is just a short walk away. Great walks, lovely scenery, perfect way to see in the New Year.

Daisy's cottage is situated in Great Rissington a hill top village overlooking the Windrush valley. A few minutes drive away is Bourton on the Water, The Slaughters Stow on the Wold and Burford. Set in the grounds of Kate and Richard's own home the cottage has been converted from a Georgian Barn it provides cosy, self contained accommodation, and offers couples the chance to share this wonderful area while enjoying the privacy of their own characterful cottage.
Whilst retaining the original beams and stonework Daisy's has a light, airy interior; stable door to the front and French doors to the private patio area at the back. The wonderfully equipped kitchen lacks nothing. Everything has been considered to make self-catering a joy. The cosy sitting room has a television and dvd player. It also has a radio and iPod/iPhone docking station. The bedroom is furnished in antique pine with a comfortable king size bed and has a window opening to the patio. The bathroom has a bath with over head shower, it also has a hand held shower attached to the taps, and a pretty window with views over the gardens of Meadow Barn. The preferred check in times are 3pm to 5pm but this is flexible with prior arrangement.
Set in the heart of the Cotswold we have many beautiful villages to visit all within a short drive Bourton on the Water, The Slaughters, Burford and Bibury to name just a few. Also worth a visit is Adam Hinson’s Farm Park, Snowshill Manor, the world famous Arts and Crafts garden at Hidcote near Chipping Campden, Chedworth Roman Villa and Cirencester. The city of Bath makes a wonderful day visit as does Stratford on Avon and Warwick. For those of you that enjoy period drama a visit to Chavenage house where some of Poldark was filmed is a must, at Chavenage you can escape into the peaceful surroundings of a Cotswold manor, virtually unchanged for 400 years. The house is situated near Tetbury which is 31 miles from Daisy's Cottage and open to the pubic from 1st May to 30th September on Thursdays and Sundays from 2-5pm. The charming village of Bampton which is just 14 miles away is where many scenes from Downton Abbey were filmed, St Mary's church renamed St Michael and All Angels in Downton Abbey, has hosted many dramatic events including weddings, funerals, christenings and even a jilting at the alter!

  • Kate’s place was amazing! From the thoughtful touches of having delicious eggs from her chickens at check in to the beautiful grounds it was all I wanted in a Cotswolds holiday and more! Perfect spot for quick day trips as well as a comfy place to hibernate a bit if that’s what you are looking for. The town is small so it was great to just pop down for a walk when the sun would come out. All around a great time that we will never forget!

This is a detached conversion which you have to yourselves. The beautifully renovated Grade II Listed stable, in a quintessential Cotswold village, has a cosy fire in a spacious living area. There's a large bedroom with wardrobe, and a modern ensuite shower. Local walks are on the doorstep, close to attractions such as Sherborne Park (National Trust), Burford, Bibury and Stone Barn.
Underfloor heating downstairs, and woodburner with a basket of wood provided. Tea, coffee, milk and snacks are provided in the kitchen. There is a microwave for cooking (no oven or hob) but we can cook meals for you and deliver to the door during the Corona crisis. We recommend cookfood.net.
Fabulous local shop/tea room in the next village. Pub also within walking distance.
  • This property is superb, cosy, clean and comfortable! Jo and her husband are brilliant hosts & couldn't have done more to help me Thank you again, I'll definitely be back to stay if I'm passing through :-)

  • Wow! Jo’s place is absolutely gorgeous. As other reviewers have said it’s even nicer than the photos. Very spacious but still cosy. Jo is also a kind and generous host. The local area is beautiful and we also tried out a few of the recommendations for places to eat.

Planters Studio is a delightful countryside retreat, its 1st floor galleried bedroom & bathroom has an exceptionally comfortable cast iron 4-poster double bed within an oak framed roof - certainly romantic, light and airy. Downstairs is a modern fully equipped kitchen, eating and sitting area including a sofa bed. A Welcome Pack is provided. The Studio has its own front door, patio garden & BBQ, with off road parking. A cot is available on request. Dogs/pets are welcome - charge £5/night/pet.
Guests regularly comment in our guest book that the Studio is comfortable, very well furnished and equipped. The Studio is private and, only if needed, we are near bye to help in any way. The Studio is in a 'Golden Triangle' of rolling Cotswold, largely organic, farmland & countryside. Footpaths, from the Studio, flow directly cross-country into gorgeous villages of Cotswold stone and narrow country lanes or minor roads lead further afield for trips by car to pretty country towns and villages.
This part of the Cotswolds we love particularly because it remains very largely working organic farmland rather than a recognised Cotswold destination - like Burford. The near bye villages without exception are all very attractive, most have a pub that serves food from good to restaurant standard. There is a network of footpaths linking the villages. We are happy to recommend our current favourite restaurants and other places or activities of interest.
  • Highly recommend this diamond of a place to stay . It is a true hidden gem, which is highly recommended. All the touches of home and great style !!

  • Dougy's and Jackie's studio (much bigger than you would think) was perfect for a relaxed base in the Cotswolds. From the birds feeding just outside the door to the well equipped kitchen, meaning you could easily eat in and out. My travelling partner said the four poster bed was one of the best nights sleeps she has had. All in all, a little piece of paradise just 90 mins from London!

  • Amazing studio, cosy and quiet! We had such a relaxing couple of days - it just wasn't long enough!

  • Beautiful place, great quiet location and the dogs had an amazing time too!

    Emma2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Dougie & Jackie’s studio apartment. It had everything we wanted and more. Great location, just a short drive away from lots of local villages! We enjoyed all of the suggestions that we’re given to us- they did not disappoint! A great little get away!

    Melanie2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • The location is perfect for long walks and visits to the surrounding towns and villages. The studio itself has everything you need and more. Whilst we only stayed for 2 nights, we had a fabulous time in the Cotswolds. Dougy and Jackie are very kind and good hosts. Everything you need is included - basics in the fridge for a nice breakfast the following morning, books and guides to help guide you around and a lovely presented studio, with a great close view of the bird table outside your window - oh and a very comfy bed! Thanks Dougy and Jackie and hope to see you both and chutney in the future again.

    Kyriacos2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Dougy, Jackie and Chutneys place is absolutely fantastic to have a peaceful get-away. It had great facilities to make our own food. The breakfast selection was a lovely touch and they were full of suggestions on where to go and eat. It was clean and tidy. And the location was great for the surrounding villages. Can't recommend enough.

A 1930’s, 2-bedroom, 1-bathroom cottage, with a refined, classic feel, in the heart of Coln St Aldwyns, one of the Cotswolds' prettiest hidden villages. It has been recently modernised and is immaculately decorated and maintained, sleeping 4 across a spacious double bedroom and a large twin room. Benefitting from front and rear gardens with an outdoor entertaining area and easy, free parking, this property is ideal for 2 couples or a young family. COLN ST ALDWYNS Nestling in the Coln Valley, Coln St Aldwyns is a traditional estate village made up of pretty cottages and houses in the Cotswold tradition. The main street starts at the valley river bed, cuts up through the heart of the village and ends at the central focal point which is a large horse chestnut tree planted on a raised circle of grass. It boasts a Norman Church and is one of the most unspoilt villages in the area, the parish being within a Conservation Area and Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.  Coln St Aldwyns is 3 miles from Bibury and Fairford and 9 miles from Cirencester. The village boasts a 13th centuary church, a popular 17th century pub – The New Inn at Coln, a village shop and post office and many beautiful walks in and around the area. • Beautiful quaint spot, amazing pub in walking distance (The New Inn) with lovely food and friendly staff. There’s also a cute local/coffee shop. Would highly recommend the accommodation and area.

  • Lovely little escape in the middle of a small village. Tucked away on a quiet road (we drove past twice before finding it), parking on the street was easy plenty of space just outside opposite the bu top. Directions take you to the little shop, I think we'd have found it straight away but we didn't have much signal to check our directions. Unfortunately didn't get to spend much time in the house as we were attending a wedding but would love to return to experience the countryside. Beds all very comfy, modern bathroom, cosy living room and a kitchen that has everything you need. Very well presented.

  • It’s a pretty house with very good location. You can see ox eating grass when you have breakfast. The playground opposite this house so funny that my kid likes it so much. Next time I hope I could book longer reservation.

  • Great home nestled away in a quiet village in the Cotswolds. Central to everything the region has to offer, but much quieter than what we experienced in the other bustling villages. Great kids playground directly across the street.

The second bedroom has a SMALL double bed, it will sleep two adults It is a old cottage built in 1703 but has heating set ON at all time and modern bathroom (LOW ceiling height), kitchen and WIFI All towels and beds with clean sheets and top blanket are provided. I am not running a HOTEL so we don't offers room services or open welcome door services OR provides wood to light the fire in the fire place.
Bibury is a charming, typically Cotswold, village just a short drive from "The Capital of the Cotswolds", Cirencester. Bibury was once described by William Morris (1834-96) as "the most beautiful village in England". In fact, Fox News says that Bibury is one of the world's most picturesque villages, and an article on the Huffington Post website (1st May 2014), titled "The Most Charming Towns In Europe You'll Want To Visit ASAP", mentioned Bibury. And the cottages of Arlington Row are often referred to as the most photographed and beautiful cottages in the country.

  • An absolutely gorgeous little cottage in Bibury and the location is just incredible - so many beautiful views and hikes available. We loved our stay. Very cosy and the fireplace is a great added bonus. Really great pressure in the shower - I was a bit worried about that beforehand as, sometimes, older buildings have really weak showers - but these one was absolutely great. A really lovely old cottage - would definitely recommend and hope to come back again soon!

They can access the property via a key safe and can walk into a huge vaulted school room with minstrels gallery and large fireplace with wood burning stove. Fire is laid and logs and kindling provided. Large conservatory kitchen leading off. Sleep in romantic double bed overlooking vaulted school room and open fire. There is a large garden table outside (up very wonky steps) that lead to a beautiful country garden , with a hammock and BBQ. Kitchen has all basics such as tea, coffee, sugar, oil, herbs , salt and pepper etc and I do provide continental breakfast with orange juice , milk and homemade marmalade . The bathroom has large bath sheets , hand towels, shower gel , shampoo and conditioner, body lotion etc.
Small hamlet with Norman church, one mile from Northleach which has gastro pub, wine bar, coffee shop, butchers, bakers and chemist. Centre of The Cotswolds. Convenient for Cheltenham Races, Cirencester and Stow on the Wold. Great for walking and relaxing in an undisturbed environment.

  • What a gorgeous stay I had in this wonderfully charming, unique and welcoming cottage.

  • We had a wonderful few days staying in Penny's beautiful, unusual and clearly much-loved School House. This is the opposite of a sterile hotel or cookie-cutter Airbnb experience. We had the feeling of being invited to make ourselves at home and felt lucky to be able to take up the offer. Penny's hospitality was immediately apparent - fresh flowers, a beautifully laid table and breakfast things ready for the morning. Just lovely!

  • This house was magnificent and fully epitomised our imagination of a charming country home. The location could not be more convenient or beautiful and I encourage all future guests to witness the sunrise here - it's worth the early wake up! Penny was also a superb host who gave attention to every detail ensure we felt at home. Our stay was absolutely delightful and we highly recommend it to everyone!

  • We stayed here for our wedding anniversary and had such a lovely time, the place is super cosy, a proper authentic Airbnb, a home away from home. The pictures don't do this place justice, it's a real British cottage, well situated in the heart of the Cotswolds to easily drive and visit the surrounding areas or simply stay in and enjoy peace and quiet by the fire, in the picturesque home, cooking in a kitchen that has everything you might need. Plus the bed was super comfy and warm. Penny was quick to communicate, but left us to own devices. Her attention to detail was remarkable with little touches that made our stay special.

  • Beautiful place and an amazing hostess. There was also breakfast for next morning. We had a wonderful time. Thank you Penny!

This gorgeous new development, surrounded by open countryside, is built on the site of the old Westwoods Grammar School, with Rixon Road named after one of the old school houses, itself named after William Augustus Rixon (1858–1948) who was a renowned artist, landowner and Sheriff of Gloucestershire. The historic town of Northleach is just a few minutes’ walk from Hawthorn Cottage and is one of the best surviving examples of a medieval “New Town”. It was built in an area of almost entirely open sheep country by the church and local landowners who wanted to develop a network of markets where rents and levies could be collected! By 1227 the town was granted its market charter and really began to prosper (a market takes place to this day, every Wednesday). The town’s gentry prospered on wool from the famous Cotswold Lion breed, with the architecture of the town, and in particular the church of St Peter and St Paul, reflecting their wealth. With the decline of the wool industry, the town’s fortunes declined, but it picked up again with the development of a coaching route between Wales and London. The route that became the A40 was itself the reason for the second decline in the town’s fortunes with the rush of modern traffic through the town centre. In the 1980s a bypass was constructed, and the town returned to its peaceful market town roots, luckily with many of its historic 15th-, 16th- and 17th-century landmarks still intact for today’s travellers to explore. (See ‘Local Amenities’ below for more details of Northleach, including restaurant recommendations.) If you’d like to explore the well-known historic and natural sights of the Cotswolds –perhaps wander around Bourton-on-the-Water, Stow-on-the-Wold, Burford and the grounds of Sudeley Castle or visit Cheltenham Races - yet prefer modern, luxury living to beams and thatched roof tops, look no further than the sumptuously equipped Hawthorn Cottage in the ancient market town of Northleach!

  • This is such a lovely home, every room is beautifully presented and catered for all our needs. We didn't want to leave! Ample space for our family get together and lots of really nice touches like the candles, wash products, luxury soft furnishings in all the bedrooms. Communication from the host is excellent, we were really well looked after. We will definitely be coming back!

  • Very luxurious house with everything you could possibly need! Great location with a short walk into the picturesque village. Would definitely return.

  • A lovely stay for me and my group of friends. Comfortably houses 8. We were allowed to have our friend’s dog with us, which made all the difference. The weather was cold and raining (and sadly no wood burner for us as it was out for repair) but plenty of info out for local jaunts. We holed up away from the rain and had a wonderful time!

Not a modern house in sight! Just a clutch of pretty cottages, a medieval village square and church – a Cotswolds bubble of peace. The Guggle is quirky, there's a classic cottagey beamed sitting room with an inglenook fireplace, games, well-thumbed Penguins, sofas to relax on... it's a homely space for families. The hub is a light airy kitchen where you pull up a pew at an eight seater table; and look out to the west-facing enclosed cottage garden, perfect for for al fresco meals and run-around space for the kids. For a first night or treat, order locally cooked pies and crumbles: delicious. There are four pretty bedrooms. Up a spiral staircase (not suitable for the elderly or infirm) to the first floor there are two beamed bedrooms which share a shower room, upstairs to the second floor there is a beamed master bedroom with en suite bathroom, a further double bedroom room and en suite shower room is on the ground floor. You can stroll to the pubs and shops in the village, cycle along the Cotswold lanes, walk along beautiful pathways or drive to National Trust houses and gardens Chedworth Roman Villa, Sherborne Lodge.
The quirkiness of the cottage, it's very old c.1600 so expect low beams, spiral staircases (carpeted), exposed cotswold stone walls, and the unique Guggle room, a domed Cotswold stone room, with original 1700 wall painting.
One of the Cotswolds 'forgotten' towns, with lovely places to eat and drink, bakers, butchers and village shop
  • We had a wonderful time at the Guggle.

  • We had a wonderful time at the Guggle. The kitchen was really well stocked for a larger group with plenty of hot water and heating. Maps, games, speaker and tv were all welcome, along with wood for the fire and a bottle of fizz in the fridge. The Guggle was cosy and spacious. Loved all the extra touches...thanks again.

  • The Guggle is a great place to stay for anyone looking for a typical cotswolds property in a central location. The property is well equipped and relatively spacious. We were three families with two babies of two and three months and despite all the baby equipment it felt big enough for us all. There are some low ceilings and beams which guests need to be aware of, two of the men in our party were over 6 feet so the phrase 'watch your head' was used quite a lot. The old spiral staircase also takes a little bit of getting used to but is all part of the character of the property. I can't fault Emma as a host, she got back to us straight away when we had one or two queries. Overall a great experience.

    Rose2019-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay! I would go back in a heartbeat. The cottage is beautiful, with a lounge spacious enough for the 8 of us. The beds were super comfortable and we all felt relaxed and welcome from the second we arrived. The village is cute, and we had an amazing meal in the Wheatsheaf which is a stones throw away. Emma was so friendly when we arrived and showed us everything we needed. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay!

    Shona2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cottage in a really picturesque village. The Wheatsheaf Inn being close by is a real draw. Wonderful host.

One of the undiscovered Cotswold villages, Coln St Aldwyns will delight anyone who wants to be immersed in the Cotswold countryside, have a memorable Cotswold experience, yet avoid the hustle and bustle of the Cotswolds’ tourist hot spots. As with most Cotswold villages, Coln (as the locals call it) is steeped in history, with a perfectly maintained, 13th-century Norman church and 17th-century coaching inn, the New Inn (due to open early Spring 2019). As you stroll around the village, you’ll find endless photo opportunities to capture beautiful, honey-coloured, Cotswold limestone cottages backed by pastoral, rolling countryside. Meadow View is an immaculately decorated and maintained, bright and airy cottage, with lots of pretty windows affording views on all sides, sweeping across the Williamstrip and Hatherop Estates - acres of meadow, parkland and farmland - and the undulating Coln Valley and rushing waters of the River Coln. Step out of the front door and you’re straight into miles and miles of walking, including an idyllic 4- or 6-mile route to Bibury (famed for its Arlington Row cottages, possibly the most photographed tourist location in the Cotswolds!), where you can have a bite to eat at The Swan, The Catherine Wheel or in the café at Bibury Trout Farm. If you’re staying with little ones, simply cross the road to a safe, secure and immaculate adventure playground, complete with picnic tables and benches. Then wander downhill to the River Coln, flanked by rolling hills that are home to flocks of sheep and herds of cows – a truly bucolic scene. If you’re lucky enough to catch a sunset, it’ll be one of the most beautiful you’re ever likely to see! Head back up the road to the Coln Community Shop for a cuppa and a slice of some of the tastiest cake in the Cotswolds! At the end of your day exploring the Cotswolds, return to Meadow View and Coln St Aldwyns, far from the madding crowds, with easy parking, peace and quiet and an immaculate and cosy home-from-home.
  • This cottage is super comfortable and in one of the most beautiful villages in the Cotswolds! The house seems almost brand-new inside. The beds were really comfortable. Beautiful, big bath sheets. My teenagers loved the big smart TV. Kitchen has everything you need and a proper oven that cooked crispy pizzas. Extendable dining table if you have a big crowd or friends staying next door. There is a beautiful playground literally outside the front door (across street). The post office is perfect for quick supplies and coffee. And The New Inn pub is one of our favourites! A perfect stay.

  • Great cottage with all the modern comforts. Located in a small village, nice retreat from the city life. We all enjoyed our stay thanks.

  • Beautiful house, very spacious and clean, and equipped with all required amenities. Tucked just off the main road so very quiet and private, with a large garden space at the back and an outdoor dining table perfect in good weather. Excellent location as the village is beautiful with nice walks, and easy to get to other nearby villages by car. Great host, sent many recommendations for walks, pubs and other useful information. Very easy check-in and check-out.

  • The house is delightful. Sparkling clean, beautiful furniture and decor. Exceeded our expectations. The village is lovely. Community shop is a bonus. Church is a friendly community too. Lovely walks. New Inn very good. In fact, all good.

Looking for a romantic getaway or a family adventure (or both)? The Poplar Patch is tucked into a bend of the River Windrush and is exclusively yours alone to enjoy. We aim to balance the glamour of Glamping with the authenticity of being off-grid and connecting with the countryside. Pitched under a canopy of Poplar trees, our 5 metre bell tent provides plenty of space for a family of 4 (we can fit 5 but at a bit of a squeeze). Sleep in our cosy double bed, and if the kids are coming we'll lend you some airbeds - you'll just need to bring some sleeping bags for them. Even though the site is offgrid, you can still take a hot shower and we do give you a charging power bank if you need to top your phone up in emergencies. We welcome up to 2 well behaved dogs at no extra cost. However, we do ask that you bring your own bed linen and towels and carefully pick up after your dog on the site. There are often sheep in the neighboring field so please be confident that your dog will be safe around them as there are the normal strict rules on the farm for dogs chasing livestock. To help you know what to pack here is what we'll provide for your stay: - Bed linen* and extra blankets (+ hot water bottles) for the double bed - Towels for 2 guests* - 2 (Optional) single airbeds - Lighting and bedside lanterns - Small mirror - Outdoor Kotlich cooking tripod - Gas stove - Pots, pans and cooking utensils - Plates, bowls, beakers, cutlery and that all important bottle opener - Eco washing up liquid - Tea towels - Kilner jar of drinking water - A free box of firewood (you can refill your box for a £5 honesty fee) - Local OS Maps Our top 4 recommendations you pack are: - Towels for any extra guests - Coolbox (you can chill bottles in the river) - Picnic blanket - Hammock (to put up in the trees) *We do not charge for you to bring dogs, but please bring your own towels and bed linen.
The Poplar Patch is surrounded by beautiful Cotswold towns and villages. Take a quick trip down stream to the market town of Burford; a town full of history and also home to a famous garden centre and exotic wildlife park. Keep going downstream a little further to explore the villages of Swinbrook; where you can enjoy a drink on the river bank, or a tasty meal at The Swan Inn, and Asthall; where you can wonder further along the river Windrush. Heading upstream, try the long 10 mile circular walk to Great Rissington, with lunch at The Lamb Inn, before heading back for a well-earned rest. Venture a little further to reach the bustling Bourton-on-the-Water with its Model Village, railway museum and Birdland all asking for a visit. If you want to avoid the crowds, a small trip further will take you to Lower Slaughter, where you can pick up a homemade ice cream in the old Mill to accompany you through the peaceful village. Switch rivers to the Coln and head to Bibury. Visit the trout farm and take a stroll up Arlington Row and around the near fields, before enjoying some afternoon tea at The Swan Hotel, or a pimms at the Catherine Wheel. Traveling a little further this way will take you to Cirencester, fondly the capital of the Cotswolds. Visit on Monday or Friday to search through the markets, explore the expansive grounds of Cirecenster Park or discover its Roman history at the Corinium Museum. And if you like Romans, you should definitely make the trip to Chedworth Roman Villa too. For a more activity packed day take on the climbing wall at Far Peak, or try some water sports at the Lechlade or South Cerney lakes. Or even just bring your bikes and explore the local routes around the site. Food & Drink Upton Smokery, Upton Take your pick at the buffet of a delicious selection of food cooked on a huge open fire. • It's true when it's says you have the place to yourself! A rare find, very nice to get back to nature abit

  • Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Was nice to be in the middle of no where. Was a lot of bugs but that was to be expected next to a river. Take some spray with you! Was perfect for just a few nights. We walked into the nearest town which took around 40mins. Was a nice walk!

    Claire2019-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • The bell tent is in a perfect location, completely secluded yet close to beautiful towns. We enjoyed the great amenities, especially a hot shower. We had an amazing time and the dogs loved it. We will definitely be back.

    Bethany2019-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • Such a lovely couple of days in the Poplar Patch. Would gladly recommend and stay again ourselves. I think the dog had a best time out of all of us. Having his own stream to swim in? Heaven! Burford is a lovely town with great places to eat and drink.

    Alexander2019-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • This is everything you want from glamping and more! It’s a peaceful site, yet only a few minutes drive from lovely villages and towns. It’s in a beautiful setting, in its own little meadow with a river at the bottom -which the dogs absolutely loved, as did we. The outdoor shower is great - and hot too. The kitchen and fire pit provided are just what you need. We can’t fault The Poplar Patch and will definitely return. (I’ve already recommended it to friends with dogs and they’ve booked!) Thanks for an amazing break in The Cotswolds :)

    Kat2019-06-22T00:00:00Z
  • The bell tent is in a truly magical location, if the weather had been nicer we definitely would have taken a dip in the stream! And to have a real bed in the tent was a big treat. The marshmallows were also a nice touch, we loved toasting them on the fire in total peace and quiet, just the sound of nature around us. We hope to be back! Thank you again Charlotte

    Jane2019-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • What a magical little spot. Forget your urban trappings this is a wild idyll. Perfect escape retreat.

    Benjamin2019-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent location, perfect place to enjoy nature with kids and dogs. Charlotte quickly responded each time we had a question. We loved cooking on the fire, having hot showers and listening to the birdsongs. We would definitely come back.

The Cotswold Wash House nestles in the slopes of the Windrush Valley on the edge of Great Rissington. The village has a manor, church and inn; all the charm of a bygone age. The compact cottage combines antique furniture with modern interior design. You'll find a super kingsize bed with crisp, white 800 thread Egyptian cotton bed linen. The kitchen is fully equipped and we provide a generous breakfast hamper with locally baked bread, eggs, milk, cereals, jams, coffee and tea in plentiful supply.
This is a fully converted Wash House that once served a three hundred year old house. It's made of honeyed Cotswold stone and is set in the heart of our tranquil village. Made for two! The rear windows look out onto an orchard and the front have stunning views down the Windrush Valley.
This is the Golden Mile of the Cotswolds. There are country walks from your front door; river banks and villages of honeyed stone. Popular destinations include: Bourton-on-the-Water, Stow-on-the-Wold, Moreton-in-Marsh as well as beautiful smaller villages like the Slaughters and Bibury.
  • The Wash House is a wonderful cosy place for a short break away in the Cotswolds. It’s exceptionally comfortable and all the amenities you might need are provided for. Chris and Ali are fantastic hosts and there were some very thoughtful and welcoming touches for when we arrived. We would definitely stay again.

    Colin2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • The Wash House was a lovely place to stay - warm, cosy, beautiful location...and with delicious breakfast hamper provided. Chris was a lovely host - easy to communicate with and incredibly hospitable. Would highly recommend.

  • A beautiful little stay at The Wash House. It had everything that was needed for a weekend get away. A perfect location for country walks and exploring the surrounding villages. Thank you for having us!

    Charlotte2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This place is really satisfying. It's a central part of Cotswolds, so it's easy to get to any nearby city, but you'll have to drive through rural back roads, so be careful about driving. (In addition, everyone is fast, like Forza Horizon 4) But everything else is perfect. Clean and warm. At the end of February, I thought I could get it, but the heating is perfect. Beds and bedding are also comfortable. The lighting is also everywhere, so it's convenient and nice. The breakfast you provided was also very satisfying. If you're two, you'll have no regrets at all.

    hoseon2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • This stylish cottage was perfect for a little Cotwolds getaway I had with my friend. Chris met us on arrival and showed us round. The place was clean and cosy, with helpful leaflets and walking routes for the surrounding areas. The location was perfect and we had the best time! Thank you for a great stay.

  • Had a fantastic stay at this little cottage for the 2nd time! Very cosy and pleasant stay, in a lovely little village, with great places nearby too! Chris is a lovely host and we were very happy 😊

  • The perfect little cottage for a lovely weekend away for two! Chris was very welcoming and the cottage as absolutely lovely and in a fabulous quiet location. The Granary is part of The Great Barns at Macaroni Farm which were built in the 1700's. Macaroni Farm is a family run, organic farm situated in the heart of the Cotswolds, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Guests staying here can enjoy the many footpaths, and walk across fields to the historic village of Eastleach. The Granary is a beautifully authentic barn conversion which retains the feel of the original grain store it once was, with exposed beams, stone and stable dividers upstairs.
The ground floor consists of a large, stone floored open plan living room/kitchen, with electric wood burner. The entrance hall is spacious with a WC under the stairs, that leads up to the bathroom, twin room , and master bedroom. All beds are comfortable Loaf beds. The master bedroom has a super king size bed and its' own WC and basin. Guests would need to walk through the twin to get to the master room, which could also be used as a dressing room for couples who wished to stay.
The historic village of Eastleach is a short walk across the fields from The Granary which also boasts the very popular 'Queen Victoria' pub. We are on the edge of the Coln Valley famous for its' beautiful walks. There are 5 wonderful pubs within a 10 minute radius of the farm, while the villages of Bibury, Burford, Fairford, Lechlade and Cirencester are close by and easy to explore from us. Fairford and Lechlade both have a 'Lynwoods' café which are infamous for their delicious coffee, sourdough and breakfasts.
  • A beautifully appointed barn conversion. A really special place to stay.

  • Very comfortable stay with our toddler. Lovely place to stay. Modern and spacious. Liza was very accomodating and great at responding to messages. She kindly left us some milk, eggs and crossaints to start off our stay. Beds were very comfortable. Thanks for a lovely little break.

  • The Granary is an absolute gem. My friends and I had an amazingly peaceful time at the cottage for our get away. It is very quiet but also only a few minutes drive away from the classic charming villages of Cotswolds with good pubs around, offers beautiful walks and Liza the host was so quick to respond (we didn’t have the bin liners), you would never feel too far away. The place is spacious, tastefully decorated and sparkling clean. And the beds are super comfortable with the amazing down duvets that makes you feel like you’re floating in the clouds. Would definitely recommend to friends and family.

    Tania2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Incredible stay at The Granary. It’s the perfect location for a weekend getaway in the country with beautiful walks, pubs and the English countryside right on its doorstep. Liza was so helpful at recommending local attractions and her attention to detail in the house is amazing. We will definitely be coming back!!

    Victoria2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Wow, the Cotswolds are amazing, its absolutely stunning here. It is beautiful English Countryside in the forest. It was exactly what I was hoping to see. Beautiful home in a beautiful location, near cute medieval villages, and even palaces not too far away. We went as a family, and spent a day shopping in near by Burford, and Bourton on the Water, and visiting Blenheim Palace. The home is neat and well equipped, with oodles of space. Its styled well and lit well through out, with very good black out curtains on the sleeping floor. Bathrooms a plenty (such an awesome luxury.) We only spent 2 nights at The Granary but we would've happily have stayed for 2 weeks or more. There was so much to see and do in the area. The home has excellent wifi, and a washing machine that also can dry. The only small negative is its under a flight path, planes fly by quite frequently but do eventually stop overnight. I would recommend staying here to anyone. Its an absolutely amazing Airbnb, and worth every penny. I loved it.

Couldn't recommend highly enough if you want to visit the area or are simply looking for a relaxing time away from home for a bit. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

  • Wow what a gorgeous place. We had the most amazing few nights at the coach house - it is so much bigger than we thought. The photos really don’t do it justice! The location is also fantastic, we would definitely love to stay again in a heartbeat. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

  • Beautiful coach house, even better than the pictures look. Nice secure garden for anyone travelling with a dog. Thanks!

    Tamsin2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • This is a stunning, tastefully appointed and comfortable property. I want to use the word cosy (which it absolutely was), but don’t think that means small. It’s bigger than the pictures give it credit for, a very spacious home. It was absolutely cleaned to perfection and had all the necessary amenities that one could need for a weekend away. Heidi was great to deal with, fast communication and very welcoming. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again and really hope I do soon. It’s a perfect stop for a secluded visit to the Cotswolds, but a nice short drive from a variety of the most scenic towns of Bourton-on-the-Water, Stow-on-the-Wold and Moreton-in-Marsh. Highly recommend The Plough in Cold Ashton for a bit of country comfort food and drinks, and only ten minutes from this wonderful abode.

    Alessandro2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • This was our first time using air bnb, all of Heidi’s messages/instructions were very good. The place is lovely, clean and tidy, very picturesque.... very secluded and private which is exactly what we wanted... we had a great stay, highly recommended. Thank you.

  • We had a lovely weekend stay at the coach house. It’s cozy, stylish and exceptionally clean. I don’t think the photos do it justice. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook a meal. The bedroom had a large comfortable bed with lovely views out the window. The bathroom had a nice walk in shower. It’s in a perfect location in a lovely little village with great walks around Sherborne park on the doorstep. Will definitely come again.

If you want to experience the true Cotswolds, why not stay in a typical Cotswold Bothy in the heart of the region, in beautiful Bibury. A totally separate building, with ensure facilities and a lovely King- Sized bed. The Bothy has Tea & Coffee making facilities but no kitchen but fear not, The Catherine Wheel Pub is just across the road and the Four Star Swan Hotel is 500 yards away. Look up the village on the internet, the beauty speaks for itself, plus very handy for the rest of the Cotswolds
It's just a lovely little room, totally separate from my cottage but near enough for any problems. Being in Bibury, it's very handy for other fantastic locations, such as Burford, Cirencester, Cheltenham, Broadway, Bourton-on-the-Water and many more!. The Swan Hotel is about 600 yards away and Cribbs Barn is about 2 miles away and both are very popular wedding venues.
  • Location was great, close to great walking route for us and our dog, across the road from a pub and in a quieter part of the village. Loved it and would return.

    Nina2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Chris was very friendly, approachable and offered a lot of local tips. His lovely little bothy was tastefully decorated and a cosy place to stay right and some beautiful walks and great pubs! We would go again!

    Stephanie2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • A very clean and cosy Bothy which is an excellent place to stay when visiting the Cotswolds. Great location and Chris is the perfect host. Highly recommended

    Philip2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect location! Directly opposite a pub, and walking distance down to the picturesque river and start of a great 6km walk around the countryside. Highly recommend the brunch and coffee in the Swan hotel too. Accommodation is definitely ‘snug’ - just a bedroom and a bathroom, but that’s all you need when out exploring 😁 Thanks for having us! Will definitely stay here if we come back.

    Kayley2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful property in a stunning location, great local pub with fantastic walks around the area.

    Dean2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • The Bothy is a fantastic little place with period touches. We loved the huge ancient key to open the door! We were a little worried that we may hear the traffic given where it is located but we were not bothered by any traffic at all. As stated in the description of the property there are only tea/coffee making facilities which served us fine. We just popped across to the Catherine wheel pub for breakfast. I totally recommend this place and it has the added bonus of being a 5min walk from the centre of picturesque Arlington.

  • Great place to stay in the middle of Bibury. Ideal location near to Cripps Barn where we were attending a wedding. Comms with Chris was great. Easy to get in the house - nice room, spotlessly clean.

The secure double garage has storage space for bicycles and contains a freezer which guests are welcome to use. The gravel driveway in front of the property provides off-street parking for three cars and further free on-street parking can be found in the village.

  • Great base in Cotswolds. Alex was fantastic. Everything you would expect and some well thought out extras including Xmas tree with lights, all essential toiletries (including make up remover and cotton wool pads) and breakfast foods (bacon, eggs, bread and jams). Couldn’t have asked for more. Would definitely stay there again, even if only for tummy tickle time with Rhubarb (I think perhaps Irish terriers ARE the best)! Great suggestions about nearby pubs and restaurants also. Thanks Alex x

  • We enjoyed our stay at Alex’s place. Alex was a gracious and attentive host that went above and beyond to help us make plans for seeing the Cotswolds and brought us extra food after arriving very late in the evening from our flight. The house itself is in a small, quaint village and is full of charm. We were able to get to many different villages in just a few days. Would love to come back and be able to spend more time!

Located 10-15 minutes from Bourton on the Water, Stow on the Wold, The Slaughters and Burford, 20 minutes of Cirencester and 45 minutes from Oxford. A car is essential.
Constructed of traditional honey-coloured Cotswold stone, the house was originally a granary barn and is Grade II listed for its historical and architectural importance. It enjoys a peaceful setting in a very pretty village with scenic walks in stunning undulating countryside. It is also an ideal base for cycling with a variety of scenic bike routes.

The historic Medieval town of Northleach, less than miles away, has a fine church and attractive market place with a cafe, pub & wine bar. It also has an excellent gastropub, The Wheatsheaf Inn. We also recommend The Plough Inn, Cold Aston. There are public footpaths over scenic open countryside from our house and in the nearby villages including Sherborne two miles away, where you can roam National Trust parkland then visit the award-winning village shop & cafe for a coffee or lunch.
  • Mia is a very warm and welcoming host and her house is extremely nice - we had a lovely time exploring the local area, highly recommended!

    Jonathan2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Mia is very friendly and takes care of us, getting up early in the morning to help us prepare breakfast. We have separate small rooms and bathrooms, they are very clean, the decor of her home is also very style, there are 2 cats. The village is small and very quiet. It takes about half an hour to get to the Northleach bus stop. You can see the cattle farm along the way. The bus goes to Burton on the water, Moreton and Cheltenham. It is best to drive by car. Otherwise, there are too few buses. We must calculate the time in advance and we can only go to one place in one day. In short, very recommended, and very happy to know Mia. It was really a pleasure to meet Mia. She's such a nice and thoughtful host and helped us a lot. Both the bedroom and bathroom are very clean. And we're grateful that Mia prepared breakfast for us in the early morning the day we went To Bourton-on-the-water. If traveling without vehicle, it takes about 30 minutes' walk to the bus stop in Northleach which can take you to Bourton-on-the-water, Moreton-in-Marsh, Cheltenham. Just need To check the timetable in advance as there's few buses here. Quite an experience as we saw fields & farms along the road to Northleach and enjoyed the fresh air and the village views. Highly recommended and I'd love to come back if there's a next Trip to Cotswolds.

  • Mia had wonderful local tips which made our time at Cotswolds a blast. Her place is in a very convenient location if you are traveling within Costwolds with a car. Nice and serene. The only shortcoming I can think of is the lack of access to the kitchen, but her complimentary breakfasts and hospitality make up for it!

    Kam Chan2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time! Mia was warm, friendly and very helpful, giving us a lot of tips of places to go and where to eat, as this was our first time visiting the Cotswolds. We will definitely come back again!

  • Staying in mine is to be at home, kindness, warm treatment, the impeccable and beautiful house, for those who like the rural area is very quiet, and is at a point that if you drive to the area of costwolds all You are close, mine always willing to organize and recommend both places to visit and go to dinner. Anyway if I came back I would not hesitate to stay again. Highly recommended

  • Excellent Airbnb accommodation: Immaculately clean facilities within a really lovely house, set in a terrific location from which to go sightseeing around the Cotswolds. Mia (and her terrific cats!) offers a friendly reception, a very lovely and welcome breakfast, and good advice in terms of Cotswolds sightseeing, historical locations and attractions (all suitable for any variable weather across the duration of the stay!) and terrific Cotswolds pub dinner suggestions.

  • We were delighted with our stay at Mia's in the Cotswolds. Her home is comfortable and elegant. Check in was easy and welcoming. The bedroom felt very private and was on the far side of the house helping us feel we were in a lovely retreat. The bathroom we had all to ourselves was large and well stocked. Mia was gracious providing breakfast and offered excellent local advice on hidden treasures in the area. A fantastic find.

Arlington was first mentioned in the Domesday Book (1086) and was for centuries a village known for cloth making. Arlington village and Bibury village sit side-by-side, separated by the River Coln, a tributary of the River Thames. The village’s honey coloured cottages are what many visitors regard as quintessential Cotswold, with many visitors making a beeline to the famous Arlington Row cottages, once depicted on the inside cover of every UK passport, and just a minute’s walk from the Bothy. Arlington was also the ancestral birthplace of John Custis II, who emigrated to the Colony of Virginia and named his Virginian mansion "Arlington" after the village. Arlington Mansion was abandoned, but the name was used again by his great-great-grandson, George Washington Parke Custis (the grandson of Martha Washington and step-grandson and adopted son of George Washington, the first President of the United States), as the name for Arlington Estate on the south shore of the Potomac River near what is now Washington, D.C. Today it is known as Arlington National Cemetery. The 19th-century artist and craftsman William Morris called Bibury "the most beautiful village in England" – he probably meant Arlington too!

  • We spent a lovely couple of days here in November for a family wedding, we love the Cotswolds and I would love to spend a week here in the summer to explore this beautiful area. I would recommend.

  • A beautiful period property in a gorgeous and peaceful Cotswolds village. Lovely pubs within walking distance and the village ship is well stocked. Lots to do with little ones in the local area too if you’re coming with a family.
