Stay in a gorgeous completely private 2 bedroom converted 19th century firehouse apartment in the center of beautiful Lambertville New Jersey. Our 2 story home features two bedrooms, a gourmet kitchen with restaurant quality gas stove, original antique gingerbread woodwork room dividers, and a 500 sq ft roof top deck. Our house is loaded with fascinating treasures on top of all the other amenities. That being said if you are uncomfortable with contemporary art and antiques this might not be the place for you. Please review all of the pictures and read this listing thoroughly before booking. The particulars: The apartment is located on the second and third floors of the firehouse so there are some steps involved. The bathroom includes a 4 jet shower and a deep jetted tub to help melt the stress away. The master bedroom is contemporary with a platform bed and a king size tempurpedic mattress and a large walk in closet. The contemporary second bedroom is one floor up so guests will have maximum privacy. It has a full memory foam bed with storage underneath for all of your clothes as well as a wardrobe for clothes that need to be hung. The large eat in kitchen boasts six gas burners with griddle, double-oven stove. Perfect for anyone who wants to plan an unforgettable evening with friends or something more intimate but equally memorable. A stainless steel french door fridge is yours to fill with groceries from the many local farmers' markets. The very large island is granite with a leather finish and comfortably seats five. It is perfect for preparing food or for entertaining. The kitchen is bordered by beautiful golden cherry wood cabinets with antique oak floors. The dining area features huge floor to ceiling bay windows that overlook downtown Lambertville. The drop leaf dining room table comfortably seats six. Enjoy the full sun or breezy shade under the umbrellas on our 500 square foot roof deck. There is a glass table that seats six with a large umbrella for shade. Take the bus straight from NYC Port authority and be here in 2 hours. The bus drops you off one block from the apartment. There are over 25 restaurants within walking distance and most of them are BYO's so stock up on your favorite wine from local wineries or Walker's liquor store which is one block away and stash it in our wine cooler for your dinner out.
Lambertville is a cute little town with loads of restaurants, galleries, shops and a few lovely bars. Our favorite spots for restaurants in Lambertville are The Broadmoor, El Tule, Tacos Cancun, More than Q, Aztlan Mexican Grill. In New Hope they are Zoubi, Cafe Blue Moose, Tastebuds, Karlas... For bars in Lambertville hit the Boathouse or the Swan for cozy fireside cocktails. The Swan also serves food in the bar with a great offering of salads, burgers and pizzas. Love the mashed potato pizza and the beet salad. In New Hope Zoubi has the best Martinis and great French fare. Our favorite thing to do is hit The Golden Nugget flea market 1.5 miles down the road. It's open year round every Wed, Sat and Sun from dawn to about 2 or so. People start packing up after the big waves of people are done so get there early! If you venture down the road a bit further towards Washington Crossing, It's Nuts! is a roadside restaurant serving up some sick fried chicken and tomato pie. There are also many lovely shops in town especially America Antiques right down the street and Jessy Lee's Antiques right by the flea market a couple miles south on 29.
  • Jenny and Mark’s home is beautiful! This spacious rental was perfect getaway to the Lambertsville / New Hope area. This rental is located right next to the main strip of Lambertsville with great restaurants, shopping, and coffee options minutes away. Parking was very easy and we were always able to get a spot close by. Check in and out was seamless and we appreciated the flexibility of being able to arrive late. Thanks for being great hosts!

  • We love Lambertville. This eclectic house was just lovely. We felt like locals for a few days. It was our very first Airbnb.....glad our first was so delightful.

  • This is my second stay here, so obviously I like it quite a lot. I had also booked a third stay, but had to cancel due to covid19. They were very gracious to refund my money, even though they wouldn't have had to, according to policy. So they're good people in addition to this being a great place.

  • A great stay! Wonderful hosts and home!

  • Incredible home, the art was so interesting and fun to look at. Spacious yet cozy. Really comfortable bed and a jacuzzi tub which was a perfect for relaxing after all the walking we did.

  • Great space. The artwork was very interesting.

    Jonathan2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This house is delightful, and exactly as promised. I have already booked it again for a future stay. One thing to note - I don’t know if it wasn’t obvious in the listing or if I just didn’t notice - but the master bed is essentially on the floor. It’s a platform bed and the platform is literally about 6 inches off the floor. So if getting up and down from the floor is a problem for you, this probably isn’t ideal. However, the mattress is VERY comfortable. So if you’re good with the low bed, this is one of the best AirBnB’s I’ve ever stayed in (and I’ve stayed in a lot.).

    Lambertville, NJ, United States

This 1800s hideaway in the heart of artsy Lambertville NJ has a knock-out kitchen (complete with marble countertops and authentic cabinets from Jim Morrison's last US residence out in West Hollywood), that opens up onto your secluded courtyard and garden. You'll have 1 Queen bed, made up with Egyptian linens, plus 1 twin sleeper sofa in a separate 2nd floor dan. These 2 sleeping areas share a full modern bath (tub and shower and even dressing table), with Juliette balcony that opens out over Secret Garden. For your convenience, there are 2 TVs, an ipod with everything from Billie Holiday to Rockpile, and wireless internet. It's all just 1.5 hours from NYC and 1 hour from Philly (see below for public transport) But why would you want to leave? You'll be surrounded by art galleries, antique shops, more than 2 dozen cool restaurants -- and you'll be right on the historic Canal path which is treasured for biking, kayaking, paddle-boarding! Can there be more? A short stroll over the bridge'll take you to New Hope PA for Friday fireworks in summer, a newly re-opened Bucks County Playhouse, fun global music at St Johns Church, and an active historic society. These 2 river towns host special festivals throughout the year -- Shad Fest, Winterfest, Autumn House Tour, Spring Garden Tour! Plus, you're only 3 miles downriver from the incredible Stockton Farmer's Market (F/S/S, throughout the year) and 6 miles upriver from Washington Crossing State Park, where George Washington made his famous crossing during our Revolution. It's easy to reach Lambertville by car, and Secret Garden comes with a parking spot (this is a BIG DEAL in Lambertville) but you can also get here from NYC via the TransBridge Bus ($40 one way, 1.5 hour trip from Port Authority, free wi-fi on board) and get dropped off 2 blocks from the Secret Garden! Check out my photos and feel free to message me, Melanie, with any questions. Welcome to Lambertville!
Lambertville is a village of artist studios, galleries, one-of-a-kind restaurants, quirky coffee shops, a vintage music salon, and a host of outdoor eateries (yes, even in the winter). Our sister city, New Hope, is a short stroll across the bridge and there you can find breweries, bars with bands from New Orleans, biker bars, shopping, and many more fine restaurants. New Hope is the racier big sister to quaint Lambertville. Just down the river is Washington Crossing Historic Park. And just upriver is Stockton, a tiny crossroads with a magnificent year round farmers market - smoked pork stand, truffle table, handmade tamales, Tunisian olive oil, a great bakery, a juice bar, and more. The Canal Path, used by mules in historic times to pull barges, is today a recreational path that runs 25 miles upriver to Frenchtown, down to Trenton, and also on the PA side of the river, making loops via the many bridges an interesting activity on fair days.
  • Awesome host! Very cute place with a great location!

    Amanda2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing location. I was shocked with how close Secret Garden was to everything I wanted to do in Lambertville and New Hope. The towpath is literally steps from the front door-- very convenient for runners! Melanie has created an absolutely charming cottage. The bedroom, in particular, is picture perfect, and the back patio is so peaceful. I saw some so-so comments about the bed, but I found it really comfortable; it's on the firm side, but I thought it was quite supportive. Water pressure (and temperature) in the shower was superior to average hotel quality! Will definitely recommend this adorable AirBnB to my friends.

    Lauren2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful stay! Great host!

    Kaitlin2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • The term secret garden is spot on. It is deliciously quiet steps away from New Hope and lambertville proper. The house has a style and richness that makes you instantly at home. Melanie and Dan greet you warmly, and give you the sense of welcoming and private time at a well-honed balance

    Mike2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • So cute and charming! Lovely cottage vibes on a tiny canal. Parking and getting inside were easy, Melanie was very much in touch with us. Walked across the bridge to new hope for drinks and then back to eat dinner in lambertville, very convenient. Thanks Melanie!

    Robin2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful space and location. Lambertville is a pretty little town and this Airbnb is in a super convenient location.

    Nicholas2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • What a delightful place to stay! We love both Lambertville, NJ, and New Hope, PA across the river, and Melanie's place is a perfect location - near several local Lambertville coffee shops and restaurants, and plenty of other shopping, and just a couple of blocks from the bridge to walk to New Hope. Lovely, old construction with low ceilings and beams, a modern, high-end kitchen, a comfortable bed, and a TV. And Melanie couldn't have been nicer, a pleasure to communicate with. We plan to go back.

    Steve2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Melanie’s home is perfect for a little get away or to spend longer. We parked our car and walked every where. It’s cozy and has loads of character. It’s about 5 steps from the canal which is a great place to walk. The pictures don’t do it justice. The Viking stove and refrigerator made us feel like we were in a very special place. Thank you, melanie, for providing a wonderful home away from home for our valentines weekend get away!

  • This home was absolutely beautiful and perfect for big groups. There’s plenty of space in each room for big groups to hang together, and there’s even speakers where you can hook up your phone to play music. The hosts were absolutely amazing and were so helpful before and during our stay. They set up extra beds for us and the snacks were a great touch! Thank you again!

  • The Cardiff Lounge is really special & Brent was an epic host! He was accommodating and generous with his time & it is clear that he puts a lot of care and positive energy into hosting visitors, & maintaining the integrity of the home. My business partner and I had to plan a last minute retreat since our conference was cancelled, and he helped us settle in even at the last minute! We couldn’t have been more happy with our stay! The place is rich with so much history, and unique touches that made us feel like we were on a movie set! We felt like we got to travel to another time and place without having to fly anywhere. The place was quiet and peaceful, very private, and super COOL!! All the doors & the character made it just magical, plus, it was sooo close to so much to see and do! We can’t wait to come back, and plan to host retreats here in the future with the rest of our business team!

    Amy2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • This lodge is amazing--such history! Many nooks to explore. The fireplace and tiles were magical. Looking forward to a return trip!

    Janet2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • The lodge in Brent's fabulous home was all that I hoped it would be. We were looking for an overnight get away from the city where I could relax on the tail end of my recovery from the flu while resting my mind a bit from all the demands of my job as a middle school dean. The warm decor, the cozy furniture, the peaceful location, and the history and unique architecture of the place all combined to make the lodge the perfect respite for me and my husband. Brent was an accommodating host, answering all of our questions and going out of his way to make sure we had what we needed. The house was also clean and just as depicted in the photos. We highly recommend Brent and his lodge for those looking for a lovely place to stay in the New Hope area.

  • The house has a long history. It is said to be a house from the period of the Independence War. It has a large yard and a good location. It is only 2 kilometers from Princeton University and it is worth recommending. We checked in late and found that when the lights could not be turned on, the landlord responded and dealt with in a timely manner, and refunded the corresponding fees to properly resolve the problem. Suggestion: Check in as early as possible. We arrived near 12 o'clock in the night and we saw the surrounding environment when we woke up during the day. We did n’t have enough experience time.

  • This was the second time for us to stay at Jennifer’s place and I couldn’t recommend it more highly! It was just as wonderful as I had remembered. A beautiful environment, thoughtful touches for guests—in fact, we could not have wanted for anything! Although we didn’t do any day trips, there was abundant information available on the many things one could do. From the first, Jennifer was very quick to respond to any inquiries and the most gracious host! I just wish We could have stayed longer. I can’t wait to visit again!

  • This location has several room options for guests so be sure to get your room number and location before arriving. There are many gluten-free options available. There is plenty of fridge room to bring your food as well. It can be a bit chilly in the winter, but there are extra heaters and the hosts will even build you a fire if you wish. The bathrooms and kitchens are fully stocked. This location is close to the center of town but still very secluded. The ambiance of the entire space feels like you are in New England and is a great quiet location to unplug and relax.

    Meredith2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Such a great gem of a stay!! Highly recommend this option if you're looking for a place in the Princeton area!!

    Robin2019-12-19T00:00:00Z
  • Old, charming “farmhouse” with all modern conveniences. Jennifer & Omar go pit of their way to make the stay a pleasant experience - sharing their full space, BF items, use of kitchen generously. Best enjoyed if one has time to stay-in/stay-put (vs. just a place to sleep) - lots of nature hikes to explore in the area.

  • This was a beautiful apartment for our family weekend getaway. It’s in a perfect location, in a quiet area but an easy stroll to Bridge Street and great restaurants and shops. The apartment was very clean and comfortable and was a great place to relax after a day around the river towns.

  • This loft is absolutely wonderful! It could not be more beautifully decorated with stylish, but minimalist, designs. The kitchen nook (with a microwave, water, and coffee set up) was adorable; technology everywhere made the space modern; everything was absolutely gorgeous. Steven responds so quickly and made everything perfect. The location is fantastic - a quick walk just about anywhere. I rented this as a work retreat and it was ideal. I can't wait to go back.

    Jennifer2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Steven's loft was perfect. Very clean, very well maintained, walking distance to the shops and eateries. Steven was very attentive to our needs and his communication was excellent. Highly recommend his place if you are staying in that area.

  • The space was wonderful - absolutely as pictured! I was here for work and felt like I was on vacation because the space was so nice. The host provided great communication, the space was sparkling clean, and the street was quiet. Would absolutely stay again and recommend the place to others!

  • The apartment was true to the photos. Very modern yet cozy. Exceptionally clean and comfortable. The neighborhood is quaint and quiet but close to what I needed. Even my father was impressed with the accommodations, which is surprising because nothing impresses my father. Charles is very proactive about communication and gives very clear, concise directions for check-in and check-out. Charles checked in with me daily to make sure my stay was going well. I would 100% stay here again and probably will.

  • My overall experience at “A Quiet Corner of the World” was absolutely incredible. Kyle and Chani treated my guest and I as if we were his own from the minute we walked into the door. The queen sized bed was very comfortable to sleep in every night, for which the bathroom was only footsteps away from the bed. Kyle and Chani also provided us with a mini refrigerator to keep our goods and beverages preserved for the duration of the stay. In addition, they were even kind enough to let my guest and I use their Samsung tablet and Netflix account to watch movies. If I ever plan on staying in the area again, “A Quiet Corner of the World” is most certainly a number one option!

  • I had a great stay at Kelli and Connor's place. The home is stylish and sparkling clean. I could literally see the teeny tiny bagel crumbs I left on the kitchen counter because they were the only things out of place. When I FaceTimed with my kids, they were jealous of the "hotel" I was staying at because the backdrop was so beautiful. Wifi and parking are my minimum needs, but the amenities were great - Kelli and Connor graciously allowed me to use their fridge and freezer and to fluff up my clothes in the dryer. I hope to stay here again!

    Sylvia2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed here for 3 nights and my stay was great. I met Connor who explained where everything is clearly. The house is in great condition and has a comfy feel inside. The room had a nice classy setup, with closets, drawers and a very comfy bed. The bathroom and kitchen were right by the room. They were also in great condition. For the price you pay it's a great value.

  • Just an absolutely incredible AirBnB experience!

    Mark2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • I had a great time at Kelli and Connor's place. They were prompt with messages and were responsive to my questions and needs. Would recommend this place for anyone.

  • Great hosts! Really friendly and accommodating. You can't really go wrong with Kelli. Just book it.

    Brent2019-12-13T00:00:00Z
  • Kelli and Connor were fantastic far beyond my expectations. The house is WAY better than the pictures, they are extremely friendly, they make the house dynamic very inviting. I felt comfortable to make myself at home from the start. They even invited me out to their social events! I wish I had more reasons to stay. I could have made easy made them my best friends and you will too.

    Alexander2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • As my 1st Airbnb, it has been a great experience with great folks. Kelli and Connor have been nothing but accommodating. I was initially a little weary about the stay but they were comforting and I end up extending my days out further. If you are in the area I would recommended this place hands down! Hurry and book before it's too late!! Its truly a rare find. ~Ness~

  • Most places put up a nice picture. Her picture is nice but her place is even better. The hosts are excellent, the area safe, and centrally located in the Trenton Ewing area. I highly recommend it. For the person who wants to stay for an extended length of time, this is an excellent choice. You have the run of the house. There's a living room, a kitchen fully equipped, your bedroom, and the bathroom. You can't ask for more.

  • Rosaury is an outstanding host. Her hospitality is really great. She makes you feel like at home. She definitely keeps the rooms and place spotless and decorative.

    Asif2019-06-04T00:00:00Z
  • Rosaury is the best AirBnb host o have ever had, hands down. She really goes the extra mile to make your stay the best that it can be. I thought that it was hot in my room, so she installed an AC!!! I had never lived in NJ before and just graduated college, and she accepted shipment of all of my belongings! She even offered me pancakes while I was figuring out how I was going to eat. I have never had a more kind and hospitable host, even in fancier location with 5-star amenities. Rosaury makes your stay feel like you’re living in a resort and I would choose her over anywhere else in Trenton!

  • Extraordinary host with attention and thoughtfulness to the detail. I had a great stay there and slept like a baby. It was that comfortable. Beautiful experience with a window view of tree scapes from the bedroom window I really enjoyed.

Generally-speaking a mature, quiet neighborhood full of really nice people. Interesting mix of farms, wide variety of home ages and architectural styles, lovely parks, churches, restaurants, convenience stores and small businesses. Free daily bell carols serenades, courtesy of local church. Lots of nice areas for walking, and lots of people who take real pride in gardening and landscape design. Close to the Delaware River and lots of quirky lovely little river communities, each of which is quite fun to explore in detail.

Our home is very secluded, in a quiet wooded neighborhood, close to a park & tennis courts. Nearby attractions include: New Hope, Peddler's Village & Sesame Place in PA, Princeton, Lambertville & Grounds for Sculpture in all within a 20 min. drive. We are only 30 min. from Philly & just over 1 hour from NYC. Enjoy our pool & deck with grill (summer months) NOTE: 3rd & 4th bdrms & space for 6 & above require renting BOTH the Apartment & Inn at Shangri-La (https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/16725146)
Our above ground cheery dry basement includes a living and dining room, bar, laundry, full modern bathroom and sunshine yellow 60s kitchen. We have board games, books, vintage and modern video games. You have access to our deck, grill, and pool. If you need space for more than 5, see "The Inn at Shangri-La" listing for up to four more people on the main floor of the house in two additional bedrooms. IMPORTANT NOTES (PLEASE READ THOROUGHLY): * 3rd & 4th bedrooms and space for 6 and above require renting BOTH the Apartment and Inn at Shangri-La. Check out the Inn at https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/16725146. * This property supports keyless access powered by August Home. * The queen and full beds are sofa beds. Both have upgraded memory foam mattresses and an extra cushion topper. We have had long term guests who loved the sofa beds and other guests who haven't. It is a matter of personal preference. If you won't want sofa beds, even with premium mattresses, we would recommend that you not book with us, as we wouldn't want you to be disappointed. * The single bed in the interior bedroom is a fold out cot. The mattress is thick and comfortable. However, if you want a fixed bed rather than a cot, this is probably not a fit. * The pool is open generally from mid-May to mid-September. * We are not trying to dissuade anyone from renting. We have had terrific results over two years of renting the space and our feedback is generally great (superhost status). That said, if we set expectations appropriately, it will lead to a better experience for our guests...which is what we are all about.
Quiet, secluded, woodsy, with deer everywhere! Enjoy walking around the neighborhood. Every home is different! Take a walk along the nearby towpath on the Delaware River or go tire tubing!
  • Our stay was great and we had no problems. The response time for any questions was amazing. They even provided home-made cookies!

  • Susan and Michael’s home is located in a picturesque part of Ewing that’s proximal to both I-95 and the Trenton-Mercer Airport (TTN). The private entry made it easy for us to come and go without disturbing our hosts. While the majority of our time at Shangri-La was spent sleeping—we were visiting family days and evenings—the space was cozy and well-appointed: room for five; a complete kitchen with complimentary coffee and tea; a roomy stand-in shower; and, plenty of entertainment options (books, CDs, DVDs, board games et al.). We especially enjoyed meeting Michael—he’s a delightful conversationalist—the last evening of our stay. We look forward to returning in the future.

My phone was acting up and Lamar drove 45 min to come and unlock the door for me. Its very Lamar cares about his guests and takes pride in being an excellent host. I like the pocket my hard earned dollars are going into when I'm staying here. Thanks again

  • I had a pleasant stay at Diego's place. I checked in late at night and it was kind of him to wait up for me so he could welcome me and show me around his place. I look forward to staying at his beautiful home again! Thank you again!

    William2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Place was great, Diego was very polite and welcoming to his home. The place was very clean and modern and had a nice feeling to it. The room is not very big, but its definitely not too small either. It was just enough for me. Tho the bed is a fold out bed it wasnt too bad. I'm 6'1" so I covered it from head to toe. I travel a lot and I'd definitely stay again. Thanks for the hospitality and the place to stay...

A wonderful 6 bedroom 2 bath house, with 3 rooms upstairs that share a bath and 3 rooms downstairs that share another. There's a huge kitchen, dining room and living room. Plus there's a washer & dryer in the basement. This is bedroom #3 on the 1st floor at the back.
