The Corner House is a ground floor 1 bedroom apartment in a perfect location in Budleigh Salterton with private off road parking at the side of the property. It is situated in the heart of the town and a stone's throw from the stunning 2 mile pebble beach. The town boasts a museum, an array of shops, friendly cafés, restaurants and pubs, all on the doorstep. There are many great coastal walks starting from Budleigh itself. Short breaks available. If you have any requests please get in touch.
The apartment is bright, clean and comfortable with a seaside feel to its decor. There is a lovely comfortable lounge/dining room, a fully equipped kitchen with new cooker and dishwasher. The double bedroom is a light and airy space with a comfortable bed with high quality pillows, linen, mattress etc., with lots of storage space. There is a foldaway bed for a third person. In the kitchen there is sugar, tea, coffee, salt and pepper. Washing up liquid and dishwasher tablets are provided. There will be fresh milk in the fridge in case you’re in need of a cuppa on arrival. Cleaning products are kept in the cupboard under the sink. I also supply dishcloths, sponges and tea towels so no worry about packing those. Hand soap is provided in the kitchen and bathroom and toilet rolls. Towels and bedding provided but please bring your own beach towels. There is an allocated parking space at the property. At the back of the property, with access from the kitchen there is a small courtyard which is quite useful in the summer to sit out for a pre-dinner drink or to hang out beach towels etc. Unfortunately this is NOT a dog friendly property as we do not wish to cause issues for guests with allergies.
Beautiful unspoilt Budleigh is situated on the World Heritage Jurassic Coast. There are numerous walks along the cliffs and rivers and lots of interesting local towns and villages to explore during your stay. Bicton Park Botanical Gardens....Devon's most magnificent historic gardens, is open all year round and just a 10 minute drive away. They have outdoor concerts with picnics in the summer, definitely worth doing! There are excellent facilities for golfers and croquet players and during the year various festivals take place in and around the local area. You can find details of all events on the internet or Budleigh tourist office website.

  • Jurassic Hideaway was exactly as described. Directly off the High Street and suitable for popping to the local shops, my partner and I couldn’t have asked for anything better. Charlotte was very good at communicating with us, and because we were travelling from a distance it was really helpful to us. The Hideaway is very modern and clean, providing everything we needed for our stay. There was even a bottle of Prosecco and mini treats on our arrival - little things like that make all the difference! Would 100% come back here again, as well as recommending to anyone who visits the area. Thank you Charlotte and Craig for our very enjoyable stay!

  • This was our first venture with Air B&B, and it was not a disappointment. Our host Margaret was very helpful, friendly and honest. She provided a 5 star accommodation. It was clean spacious and we’ll looked after. The location was excellent near to the High Street, places to eat and a great beach. Nearby were great walks and there were maps supplied to help. Margaret was there to offer advice. It was a great stay and the weather was fantastic, I think Margaret had a hand in that too. We would honestly recommend staying at Margaret’s accommodation and will seriously consider a return visit. Margaret has set a high standard for future Air B&B visits. A BIG THANK YOU TO Margaret!!!

  • Katie’s cottage is perfect for a couple or small family. It’s location is ideal for the beach and high street and yet was very quiet at night when we stayed in March. There’s so much to do in and around Budleigh, especially if you like country and coastal walks, and nearby Sidmouth and Exmouth are definitely worth a visit. The cottage is well equipped, very clean and close to restaurants and a great fish and chip shop a couple of doors away! Overall, a great stay and Katie was a very friendly and informative host. Many thanks!

  • Budleigh Salterton is a hidden gem and idyllic place for walkers and a gentle pace of life. Lyndale is the perfect cottage, has all the amenities you would need, beautifully presented and right in the heart of Budliegh and a brief walk to the beach. Highly recommended

    Budleigh Salterton, Devon, United Kingdom

A sunny home with quirky highlights and relaxed decor, a five minute walk from beautiful Budleigh beach, with the option of a gorgeous striped beach hut, full of seaside essentials. Short walks take you to the heavenly River Otter or to stunning coastal views, and a ten minute drive brings you to sandy Exmouth beach. This is a family home which will quickly feel yours. Children and very well house trained pets are welcome.
Quintessentially relaxed English, in appearance and in atmosphere, this is a cosy home with many essentials and much charm. A bright, calm sitting room, with its double sofa-bed (for the 5th and 6th guests) has the morning sun, the larger television, an open gas fire, and a piano (tuning not guaranteed!) There is a light hallway with a study table and WiFi access. A roomy dining room leads through to a sunny conservatory. The french doors take you to the sheltered south facing terrace, where you may use the wooden dining table, chairs and parasol for relaxed outdoor dining. You also have a chimnea for those occasional cooler evenings... Steps lead to grassed area for picnics or play, and a couple of wooden steamer loungers for relaxing. The downstairs shower room is accessed through the conservatory. The kitchen has a cottage feel with its Belfast sink and wooden work top, and is equipped with all manner of cooking essentials. A useful back porch/utility houses the fridge/ freezer and shared use of washing machine and airer. Upstairs, are two big, bright double bedrooms, one with a king sized bed, and a basin, the other a double bed with a large front window. Also upstairs, a spacious landing and roomy family bathroom with shower over the bath, and a beach feel.
Just the most lovely area. Tranquil and soft, within very short relaxed walks, or drives, of the most beautifully untouched areas of Devon coastline. Budleigh is a unique English seaside town with an unspoiled sweep of flat-cobble beach, strewn with pastel huts; a high street full of character, cosy cafes, and pubs with personality; and the best fish and chips you will have ever tasted. You'll even find a fisherman selling his catch on the cobble beach, near the boats and pretty beach huts; just watch for his pirate flag... Picturesque thatched Otterton, with it's wonderful water-mill, selling milled flour and delicious scones, is a half hour, or so, walk along the willow lined river Otter. A ten minute drive or bus ride brings you to Exmouth, with its long stretches of golden sand and its promise of rock pooling. Here you will find all manner of water-sporting activities available. From here there is a wonderful train ride along the River Exe to various river villages or to Exeter; Or from here take a boat or ferry rides to nearby river villages and pubs; Topsham, Turf Locks, The Double Locks, Dawlish warren. Don't forget to book a place at the unique River Exe cafe, Devon's only floating Gastro Shed, with the most lovely river scenes, reached only by its ferry or by your own water craft. A twenty minute drive or bus ride from the house takes you to the pretty Georgian town of Sidmouth with its flint cobbles - 'pitchers' - , safe sand at low tide, and its body boarding potential. Visit exciting Haldon forest (30 mins) with your bikes, or wonderful Dartmoor (1 hr) with your boots. A ten minute drive finds you at Woodbury Common. Ramble around the open heathland, scramble over the Iron Age hill fort, or mountain bike down its tracks and wonder at the lovely views. It is part of the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and is a Site of Special Scientific Interest. You may not want to leave....
  • Beverleys house is truly spectacular, my best friend and I had such a wonderful time, we were allowed to bring my dogs, it was honestly such a lovely, clean, homely space. So close to the beach and to the most amazing scenic walks. We will be back in summer for sure!

    Amy2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Warm welcome, lovely place!

    Jill2019-11-07T00:00:00Z
  • So relaxed and home from home. We were two ladies celebrating 50 years friendship. Each had own large bedroom and bathroom each. The weather was amazing and we loved spending one whole afternoon at the beach hut. Beverley has created a warm and inviting space that will suit singles or families exploring East Devon. 10 minutes walking to the beach and say 15 to 20 mins into town. There is a real feeling of space and light at the house. The garden is perfect for children or dogs. We will definitely be back !

    Angela2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • A fantastic Air BnB experience, maybe the best we ever had. Nice semidetached house, tastefully decorated with everything you need, you have a feeling of hospitality and welcome. Communication with Beverley was great, fast and it was just a pity not to have meet each other. The big flush in the toilet upstairs made my ecological heart weep, but the great recycle system in Devon balanced it :-))) We walked up to Sidmouth via Mutter Moor and Otterton back to Salterton, we loved the Otter Valley, many many dog walks there, but avoid the area on weekends. We had a nice walk in Dartmoor (Yes Tor) and some shopping in Exeter on our only rainy day during our stay. For National Trust lovers, go to A La Ronde near Exmouth, what a great house, or to Killerton estate. Recommended is Marcos Italian restaurant in town, friendly staff and the best Carbonara I had for years! Unfortunately we couldnt find the time to book the beach hut, maybe next time, we may come back. Thanks, Beverley, it was a really top notch time!

    Daniela & Oliver2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • We had the most amazing stay at Beverley’s lovely house in Budleigh Salterton. There were 4 adults and a toddler, and we had oodles of space which was great. Beds and pillows were fresh and really comfy, and Beverley even set up a travel cot with sheets for us before we arrived which was a great help. The location is lovely, a short walk to the beach and high street as well as the nearest play park for our daughter. Budleigh was so peaceful, clean and a great base for days out. Kitchen was really well-equipped too! We would not hesitate to come back or recommend to anyone thinking of booking.

    Isla2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Beverley's house was perfect for our holiday. It is spacious and beautifully decorated. Beverley is a fantastic host. She responds really quickly and, despite being away when we were there, could not have done more to help. It was a brilliant holiday and the beach hut is an added joy.

    Christine2019-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • Fully equipped home with a very friendly host, quick responses. Very uncomplicated. Parking in the street is no problem at all, there is more than enough space. The house is large enough to not only sleep 6, but also provide living space for 6 people, in the rare case of really bad weather. Do not expect a high gloss, new, designer-tyled (lifeless) modern box. Instead, expect a charming house and small garden that are really lived in when not rented. We will be back! :-)

    John2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely house within walking distance of beautiful Budleigh beach. Plenty of space and everything a family needed for a home away from home. Would recommend hiring the beach hut - made long days (and evenings) at the beach hassle free

A comfortable en suite room in a 1930s semi detached house just five minutes walk from Budleigh sea front and 10 minutes walk from the town.
The house is a short walk from the South West coastal path and the Otter Estuary bird sanctuary, so is ideal for a walker. The house has a private garden available to have breakfast or just to sit in, and we are happy for the kitchen to be used for heating a meal or making coffee and tea.
We are in a quiet neighbourhood on the eastern edge of Budleigh Salterton. Our road is not busy, people use it to walk to the beach and there is not much traffic. The beach is almost all pebbles with very little sand, resulting in the water being very clean. There is swimming where the estuary meets the sea and where there is a bit more sand. The pebble beach drops down quite quickly, making it also great for swimming all along the beach. Budleigh has many shops with original frontages, being described in tourist books as a quintessential English seaside town. The high street has a vintage clothing shop, a family run ice cream shop, several coffee shops, Italian restaurant, a butcher supplying local produce, a wine shop, two pubs and two small supermarkets. The shops are reached from along a promenade with further cafes and beach huts overlooking the sea.
  • Wonderful welcome and lovely quiet night's sleep. Thank you, C

  • This comfortable room in Peter and Jenny’s beautiful home was a great find and I had a cracking night of sleep followed by a great run along the nearby beach the next morning. Peter and Jenny are gracious hosts and nothing is too much trouble. The bed was super comfy and the room was perfect with its en-suite shower room. I’d be very happy to stay here again! See you soon!

    Danny2019-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • Great location - quiet, easy to find and with a choice of routes. Comfortable and clean room. I especially like the wooden blinds / shutters! Peter and Jenny are very hospitable and genuinely friendly - checked everything was ok but also gave me space by offering me use of the garden and were flexible with timings. Excellent value for money. Would highly recommend.

    Melanie2019-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • The house is in a great location being only 10 walk to the high street, 5 to the beach and it’s also possible to take the scenic walking route to Otterton.

  • Juliette's place is very cozy and just 10mins from Budleighs main street. The bedroom and bathroom are both exceptionaly clean and the bed was very comfortable. We had a great night's sleep. Due to our arrival time we were not able to meet Juliette until later in the evning but checking in was simple and communications were suberb. Wonderful stay! Thank you

  • My one night stay at Juliette’s couldn’t have been better. The room is massive (bigger than many studios!) with a super comfy mattress and private entrance Juliette was so kind to let me dry my drenched windbreaker in her dryer. Would definitely recommend for a short stay!

  • A wonderful retreat which is so peaceful and private. Great location as not far from Budleigh and the beach. The path, up to the lodge, could be more accessible and is rather slippy when wet -take wellies or walking boots. Definitely recommend this beautiful and serene cabin.

  • We had a lovely warm welcome and cream tea waiting for us at this gorgeous cottage ! Thoughtful touches and charming 1930s decor in keeping with the house, made this a really special, cosy place to stay. All mod cons too, the bed was comfy and shower great - all rooms spotlessly clean. Budleigh Salterton is a cute seaside holiday town with all amenities just a short walk away - with a lovely beach at the end of the road. Great base to explore the Jurrasic Coast and English Riviera. Richard and Sue- Claire are great hosts and on hand should you need anything - we didn’t because everything was thought of already ! Thank you and would stay here again !

    Catherine2019-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Sue- Claire’s place was a real gem, a great location and an interesting property. It was great to have the living/dining room and kitchen area downstairs in addition to the upstairs bedroom and bathroom. Everything we needed was there. Our hosts were helpful and unobtrusive - just right! Easy walk to town, beach, footpaths etc with bus stops nearby to take you to nearby towns and villages. A beautiful area and a great place to stay. Recommended.

    Miriam2019-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • Spent a very enjoyable three days in this lovely quaint house which is in a very quiet location and only a pleasant 10 minute stroll along the front into town. The property is very well equipped with everything you would need and there are lots of interesting books to read if the weather is bad. Luckily we had amazing weather so able to do walks along the coast path to Sidmouth, Exmouth and along the River Otter. Budleigh Salterton is very picturesque and not commercialised which is so good to see. We enjoyed sitting outside with our coffee in the morning and a glass of wine in the evening, you can tell the house and garden are well loved. Sue-Claire is a super host and we will definitely look to stay there again if we are back that way.

  • Bluebird Cottage is a charming, characterful and evocative place to stay in Budleigh Salterton for a tranquil break. It's ideally located a few minutes walk to the beach and the town which has some great restaurants, cafes and pubs; all of a very high standard. Everyone is so refreshingly friendly! We will definitely be coming back!

  • Lovely old cottage in a great location. Have all the facilities needed for a long weekend (including TV not advertised). Warm welcome on arrival but then left to enjoy the space. Location is perfect - just five minutes away form the beach. Would highly recommend and hope to visit again.

  • This is the English coast we'd hoped to find. We didn't stay long but wish we could have - surprisingly central, gorgeous area with every amenity you could need and the nicest people. We got lost on the footpaths late in the day, wandered into the pub via a herd of cows and found dinner, help and a way back to Budleigh all before sundown.

Budleigh Salterton is an unspoiled East Devon seaside town within 10 minutes drive of Exmouth and 25 minutes to Exeter. The town has several cafes on the High Street, 2 pubs, a pleasant bistro restaurant, an Indian restaurant, a popular fish and chip shop and a Chinese takeaway. There are 3 beach cafes serving light snacks along the seafront. Exmouth has a variety of restaurants to choose from; Tripadvisor is always useful to help you choose, and we particularly like Saveur. Otterton has a good pub (the Kings Arms) serving food and Otterton Mill has a bakery shop, gallery and restaurant, great cakes and scones. You can walk there along the river path from Budleigh Salterton.
  • A really great homely place to stay. With comfortable furniture and decor that perfectly matches the seaside feel of Budleigh. Plenty of space to yourself with a dedicated guest bathroom and dining area. Hosts are happy to give local tips and have plenty of guides for the area to take. As I mentioned to the at the time, I’m usually restless on the first night in a new place, but here I was able to sleep and relax with no problem.

  • A lovely place, very well located on the high street and so close to the beach front. Really amazing kitchen and comfortable living room. Very comfy beds and a a great shower. Nice bedding The outdoor space is very cleverly set out and whilst our November stay meant we didn’t want to sit out - it would be great for when the weather is better!

    Amelia2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great find. We know Budleigh well - and were happy to find such a great flat right on the high street - but very quiet and private. Very comfortable - great beds and fresh clean linens, great pillows!! Really good bathroom with high-pressure shower and big bath. Well equipped kitchen, lots of space. Big windows, bright and clean. Book it! Also Shaun was great re check-in/key etc and helped out when we couldn't figure out the heating - he popped round and works nearby so he is able to help with anything you need. Close to all things Budleigh has to offer - lots of restaurants, great beach walkable. Local co-op and spar food shops right there and open late, pharmacy, coffee shops etc all nearby. Thanks, Shaun. I'd also add that the pictures don't seem to do it justice!! Far brighter and more spacious in reality and everything seems very new.

    Sarah2019-10-23T00:00:00Z

  • We stayed at the hideout with our 2 young daughters and baby. There was plenty of space for 5 of us and Sean provided a high chair. There is a lovely little garden with a table and seating to eat outside. The hideout is really well located right in the middle of Budleigh with coffee shops, a co-op, pubs, Indian, Chinese and a fish and chip shop. The beach is 5 minutes walk and is a lovely pebble beach. There is a sandy beach in Exmouth which is only a 10 minute drive. Our girls were in the sea every day of our weeks stay! We would definitely recommend staying at the hideout, Sean was extremely accommodating and really easy to deal with. The place is lovely and Budleigh itself is a clean and friendly village, we had a fabulous week there and would definitely return.

  • Had a lovely time in mellors cottage. The pub next door was wonderful and we didn’t have any noise issues. We stayed with our two toddlers and it was fantastic. Both bedrooms were comfortable and clean. The toilets had built in training seats which made life a lot easier for us. Perfect sitting room to relax in and a spacious dining room for four. Easy access and even though the parking is a very short walk we never found it an issue at all. Close to lots of seaside towns and located in a lovely village. Village shop a short walk away and next to a great play area for little ones! Thank you x

  • A relaxing and comfortable stay in this quintessential Devon village cottage. I was initially worried that it might be a bit difficult for my ageing father to negotiate the entrance and stairs but the cottage was ideally suited with 2 double bedrooms and 2 separate toliets. The village itself is beautiful and everyone is courteous and friendly and its proximity to the coastline, river walks and cricket pitches is second to none. Mark was super helpful whenever we needed to touch base. We would come back in a heartbeat as there are few better ways to experience all that Devon has to offer.

    Simon2019-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for a cute village cottage (with the handiness of a country pub right next door..) as a base to explore the Exmouth area then you should be very happy at Marks. We had a great time.

  • You can expect a very warm and friendly welcome. The rooms are spotlessly clean! Breakfast was delicious.

  • So warm and comfortable. You have the top floor to your self with a lounge a separate bedroom and seperate bath and shower the bath was so big I literally had to have a bubble bath. So dreamy. We got drinks in arrival and a little bowl of chocolates in the lounge. The bed was perfect so comfortable and warm. Great views. Perfect location. Tina and alex was brilliant with communication and staying here felt like home so beautiful and clean would choose here over a hotel anyway xxx

    Danielle2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • It's been my best experience so far with air b&b. The house is amazing, really clean, modern and easy accessible amenities, really comfortable sofa and bed, a lot of privacy for yourselves. She also provided us everything we needed for the week end. Outstanding ospitality and chef (the breakfast was better than a restaurant).

    Salvatore2019-11-23T00:00:00Z
  • The spacious guest accommodation occupies the whole of the top floor of the property and felt very private. Huge bathroom. Everything very clean. Lovely comfy bed! All the family were very welcoming.

    John2019-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • Loved it here, we booked last minute and Tina was super responsive all the way through, with helpful local recommendations and great communication. The rooms are on the top floor of her house and to have so much of our own space including a separate sitting room and bedroom was brilliant. Huge bathroom too so we had a lovely soak in the bath. Everything is very stylish and just immaculate. Tina looked after us and our baby very well including cooking a delicious feast of a breakfast. Will definitely stay again if we are in the area!

A newly built, architect designed, contemporary four bedroom house with a sedum roof, which is ideally located within a few minutes' walk of the beach and the High Street at Budleigh Salterton, East Devon. The house is very close to the coastal walking path and a large natural park, and it is within walking distance of all other local facilities. It has a very private garden with a feature pond as well as its own parking space.
Although single storey the house does have some steps as it's built on three separate levels. There are however no more than three steps each time the level changes, with banisters to assist. There is an outdoor table tennis table which guests can use. The beds are one Superking size, one double, two singles, one high sleeper for children (see pictures - they are not recommended by the manufacturers for children under 6 ). There's also a sofa-bed which can either be located in the study or in one of the children's bedrooms. It pulls out to form a double bed, and can be used as a double if left in one of the children's bedrooms. However, if you'd prefer it in the study, i.e. as an extra bedroom, then it will need to remain as a single bed given the size of the room. Please let us know any preference in advance, as it's currently situated in one of the children's bedrooms. The pond only has approximately 6 inches of water in it, but this would nevertheless pose a risk to unsupervised babies or toddlers, which is why we do not recommend it for any so young. There are a number of games and DVD's at the property for the use of guests
Budleigh Salterton is part of the Jurassic Coast. It has a pebbly beach, but there are sandy beaches in nearby Exmouth. The house is within walking distance of East Devon Golf Club, which is one of the best courses in the area, with spectacular sea views from some of the fairways. There are plenty of shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants within walking distance.
  • A wonderful spot in a beautiful & throughtfully designed house. Janet & Gareth are excellent hosts and really did make us feel very welcome and at home. Great access to local amenities, the beach, walks and some lovely pubs & restaurants in the town. Highly Reccomend !

  • Brilliantly convenient and comfortable space to spend relaxed time with family and catch-up with friends locally. Gareth and Janet were on hand when needed and willingly addressed any queries we had during our stay. We look forward to returning and making the most of the proximity to the sea in better weather!

  • Lovely house in a great spot. Generous welcome pack which went down very well with all 5 guests. Very comfortable and the house was Spotless. Would highly recommend.

  • Our family (including in laws) stayed here for just over 5 days. Our biggest regret was not staying longer. The place is as described, slightly better than expected in person. Narrow road going to house, however we never had any issues given we had a large SUV. Garage available on arrival to park our car, which I didn’t expect. Gareth checked us in and was very quick with his communication. Lovely little touches such as Prosecco, milk, scones, jam, cream etc... Everything you’d need on arrival without having to go out. Having said that, the stores are a short walk away if required. Fresh linen, soap, basic toiletries provide. I’m very picky about beds, however loved the beds and slept really well. The house is in an amazing location, very close to shops, short walk to the beach and the SW coast path. Loved the area and would definitely go back.

    Anil2019-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • Thanks Gareth, we had a lovely time as a family in your beautiful house which is so well designed and equipped. The children loved the outdoor space and playing with the hammock. The location of the house is also ideal for exploring east devon. Thanks again for everything, especially the deliocious scones and fresh bread!

  • Exactly as described - a lovely property full of character, right on the beach. Lovely sight and sound to wake up to! Beautifully presented and well equipped. The garden is an adventure in itself! Budleigh Salterton is a quiet little village with quaint shops. If you want an ice cream you’re spoilt for choice. We went to a Slice of Lyme for one meal (very good - book in advance) and fish and chips on the same road (also very good). We got exactly what we wanted from this trip which was a quiet relaxing time with my mum, going into the odd tea shop and pottering around gift shops, and my 11 year old daughter got exactly what she wanted, which was endless hours playing on the beach looking for stones and shells. A very beautiful and relaxing trip on the Jurassic coast.

The living space had lots of interesting books to browse and good if basic cooking facilities. The beds were comfortable, the area was quiet and the furnishings etc. matched the period of the house making it a very attractive space. All in all I can thoroughly recommend a stay here. Thanks Sue-Claire!

  • Rosemary is a great host. Her place was immaculate, very clean and well organized, had everything I needed. Rosemary explained everything verbally although there was a folder with all information, instructions and rules in bedroom and lounge. Bedding smelling cleanliness, nice thick towels, bottled water in room, TV in room and in lounge, tea/coffee available at anytime, breakfast ordered from previous night. A great experience in total, would absolutely recommend it.

The Studio is an independent room in our large house in Budleigh. It has a king size bed with Egyptian linen & towels. There is a large ensuite shower room, kitchenette with sink, coffee machine, combination microwave, fridge, tableware, dining & sitting area with internet Smart TV. A decked balcony leads to a private garden & patio with extensive sea views. 2 mins walk from town, 5 mins from the beach & coast path. Quietly situated at the end of our private drive next to the croquet club.
The Garden Studio has private parking on our drive but does not have vehicular access to the door. It is accessed up a steep path of steps which are beautifully carpeted with bluebells in Spring. The path is well lit but there are 40 steps and some uneven ground. We think it is charming but if you have limited mobility or find steps a challenge, then maybe this is not for you. Check out our face book page, www.facebook.com/BeautifulBudleigh for regular updates on The Garden Studio.
We have lived in East Devon for more than 20 years. My husband has worked as a GP in area for more than 30! We have lots of well thumbed O/S maps and can introduce you to numerous walks, cycle rides and great places to eat and drink. We are close to the Golf Club (and can provide storage clubs), our garden backs on to the famous Croquet Club (so you will hear the gently knock of the hammers) and within 5 minutes of the Jurassic coast path.
  • Tamara’s place is super clean and comfortable. Fabulous shower, comfortable bed (firm mattress) and easy walk to the beach. We had a wonderful autumn break, thank you.

This charmingly renovated house is a beautiful, 18th century family home situated just a couple of minutes walk from the pretty pebble beach and high street of the attractive seaside town of Budleigh Salterton.
This is our family home which we rent out in the summer when we are away. I run a cottage holiday let next door all year round, so have plenty of experience in knowing what makes this a lovely home for your holiday.
Beaches With 300 miles of coastline and 60 beaches in Devon, there is plenty of choice. Budleigh beach is great for swimming and safe for children who will enjoy the pebbles more than you think. Exmouth is a traditional seaside resort for 'bucket and spade' family fun and plenty of watersports on offer (popular for windsurfing and kitesurfing). Sidmouth beach has sand and pebbles with rock pools at the eastern end to explore. Branscombe is a bit further east but definitely worth a visit. The walking, pubs and beach are great. Further west along the coast in the Torbay area there are plenty more popular beaches on offer, including Blackpool Sands and Salcombe. North Devon beaches are long stretches of sand and surf with the easiest to get to being Woolacombe, Croyde and Saunton Sands. Watersports Wake boarding, water skiing, kite boarding and windsurfing are available in Exmouth. You can also launch your own boat from there or hire one. Walking From the cottage front door, you are on the South West Coast Path in a couple of minutes with its fantastic views, flowers and birdlife. Both east towards Sidmouth and west to Exmouth have fantastic views, flowers and birdlife. Dartmoor is about 30 mins away and with 500km of coast and 3,500 miles of footpaths, there is plenty to choose from. Local sports and leisure Budleigh Salterton Riding School provides lessons, hacks and treks. This area is also great for off and on road cycling. The Exmouth and Budleigh Salterton Cycle Route is an old railway line and is minutes away. East Devon Golf Club is situated on the cliff top above Budleigh Salterton and is regarded by many as one of the finest courses in the South West. The Budleigh games club is up the hill behind the cottage and has tennis, bowls and croquet. You can fish for mackerel and bass from Budleigh beach or take a deep sea fishing trip from Exmouth. Family activities Families with young children are well catered for in Budleigh with the beach and play park nearby. Bicton Park Botanical Gardens is lovely and just a few minutes away. Boat trips run from Topsham, Exmouth and Sidmouth. Crealy Adventure Theme Park is fun for kids whilst Powderham Castle is in a beautiful setting beside the Exe estuary. There are zoos in Paignton, Sparkwell (Dartmoor Zoological Park) and Exmoor (Exmoor Zoo). Go Ape! is at Haldon Forest if you are into climbing trees, and sliding across high wires and rather tamer are the Plymouth National Aquarium, Pennywell Farm and the Donkey Sanctuary at Sidmouth (which is free!). There is a Diggerland at Cullompton and fossil hunting at Charmouth or Lyme Regis beaches. The Cathedral City of Exeter has shops, leisure centres, cinemas and lots of restaurant options. Markets and local food Fresh seafood, traditional cream teas and local award-winning wines are all here in Budleigh. Local markets run in Budleigh, Topsham and Exeter and Darts Farm is a real haven for 'foodies'. Fresh fish can be bought direct from the fishermen on the beach and Otterton Mill has great home-made food, live music evenings, artist studios, and bakery. Historic Devon Budleigh Salterton is on the UNESCO World Heritage Jurassic Coast with its beautiful, pebble beach and old fashioned town. The pretty thatched village of Otterton is a walk up the Otter Estuary as is East Budleigh, the birth place of Sir Walter Raleigh. Sidmouth is an attractive Regency seaside resort and the National Trust village of Branscombe is full of attractive thatched buildings. From Branscombe is a lovely coastal walk to the fishing village and sheltered beach at Beer. Honiton in the Blackdown Hills is famous for lace-making, pottery and is a big antiques centre whilst Topsham is a lovely historic estuary port is full of interesting Dutch, Edwardian and Georgian architecture. Exeter itself, is the regional capital with sights such as the cathedral and historic quayside along the River Exe and Exeter Canal.
  • Lyndale cottage is very beautiful and charming. We suddenly felt in love with this wonderful house with its nice garden where we had breakfast and supper almost every day at Katie's large wooden table. We also enjoyed having such a spacious and fully equipped kitchen and it was really nice that we were allowed to use Katie's Kayak for paddling. In the well arranged house we found everything we needed. The location is ideal so it is just a 5 minute walk to the beach and even less to the supermarkets, shops and restaurants. Although we never met Katie we are sure she is a lovable person and definitely a great host. The contact was very easy and she was always available for upcoming questions. Finally I can just say that we had a wonderful week in Budleigh and we can absolutely recommend to stay here. Thank you Katie Achim
