  • A wonderful little cottage in a great location. Claire's place was lovely and clean. Breakfast was included which was good and had nice touches such as little chocolates and access to netflix! The space was perfect, there was only 2 of us but could have easily suited 4. Claire was a great host and popped by to say hello, and offered advice on the local area.

    Jen2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Our second stay at Clare's place, it's perfect for breaking up a long road trip with the kids, who heartily ate their way through all the breakfast goodies!

  • We had a wonderful stay in this very cosy place. It was clean, and the log fire kept us warm in the evenings. It's in an ideal location, and Jenny provided very clear directions so we had no problem getting there.

  • Holly Berry is very cosy & homely, loved the log burner! Jenny sent plenty of information about the area, it was lovely to arrive to milk, tea, coffee & even chocolates! We enjoyed a dvd from Jenny’s collection. I was celebrating my Birthday, Jenny recommenced the Italian, Bella Vita, 2 miles away, it was great! Perfect location to explore the area. We found The Red Lion pub to be very friendly, felt like locals!

The Little Byre is a unique, 200+ year old cow shed situated in the heart of Wellow, in front of the historic village green and Maypole (which is still in use today!) Renovations in 2017 have converted the space in to a perfect marriage between rustic and modern. The internal woodwork is entirely handmade, and the exposed original beams give the space a comforting and cozy experience. There is a kitchenette with a kettle, toaster and microwave (no oven/hob). Relax after a long day in the countryside, in front of the fireplace. There is a smart TV/DVD player, a radio, and there is wi-fi within the property.

There are many scenic historic landmarks in the surrounding areas, such as Southwell Minster and Newark Castle. There is plenty of countryside and history to see, whichever way you explore! To aid relaxing, there are two public houses in Wellow, both within a 60 second walk! The Olde Red Lion is a traditional country pub, and offers delicious home cooked food, as well as local ales and ciders. The Maypole is just across the road and offers everything from cooked breakfast, to afternoon tea, to full Sunday roasts. There are a number of local supermarkets within a few miles, and plenty of quaint tea rooms to visit. • What a lovely hidden gem! We stayed here for a weekend and it was perfect! Lesley was the perfect host, always very communicative, friendly and helpful. The cottage is so cute with lots of thoughtful touches! Perfect for a special occasion or an away from it all weekend! We absolutely loved it! 2 gorgeous pub/ restaurants within a 30 second walk and close to sherwood. Thank you again!

    Emma2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful space, very well thought out layout. Lovely and spacious, yet cosy and comfortable. The added touches were great and the made the stay even better than expected. We were met at the door and shown round, lovely private garden if only the weather had been nicer! The red lion pub was a great traditional pub less than 30 seconds walk, reasonably priced and very warm and welcoming. Will definitely be back!

    Zoe2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect place to stay after using the Centre Parks Spa. Lovely village with an excellent local pub nearby. The maypole is definitely the village centre piece. The accommodation is perfect with a light breakfast included! Enjoyed every minute of our stay!

    Stephen2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Such a lovely cozy get away! We were kindly welcomed on arrival and shown around the handcrafted cottage. It's charm and character shone through instantly and we had a very comfortable stay. Very clean and tidy, well heated, in a quiet yet convenient location. Would recommend.

    Laura2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Very sweet little barn conversion. Really impressed to hear Dale had done it himself. Felt very romantic and cosy. It's very nicely decorated. The stairs to the mezzanine are very clever but I imagine if you're less mobile probably a little tricky. Lesley and Dale are a kind and communicative couple.

My house is a beautiful 2 bedroom house with 2 floors in the famous tourist village of Edwinstowe. It has a bedroom, bathroom, front room, kitchen & stunning balearic style cocktail garden. Minutes walk from Sherwood Forest & centre parks. 35min City
My space is modern and very comfortable with all mod cons like the latest Apple TV, music channels, balearic cocktail bar, fire pit, evening garden illumination and seating patio on the front of the house etc. I have a very comfortable double bed in one bedroom and a lovely new corner sofa bed (double) in the lounge, allowing 4 guests to stay in total. The 2nd bedroom upstairs is an office space and is locked to guests. I also have beautiful 3 mile views over the fields and canopy of the legendary Sherwood Forest and a national bike/walking path that starts at the foot of my house and goes deep into the forest. I also have two good mountain bikes to rent out for £15.00, per bike, per day, so all my guests have the opportunity to see this stunning nature reserve in all of its glory. Please let me know if you are interested in the additional mountain bike hire.
My place is literally and instantly bordering fields and trees leading within minutes into the forest. In 5 minutes you saddle a river that is beautifully lined with trees. This takes you into the forest (also a great place to swim in the summer) either to sherwood pines or Sherwood Forest nature reserve. My home is also very close to stunning attractions such as centre parcs (1.5 mile away) rufford abbey (2 miles away) thoresby hall (4 miles away) climber park (7mikes away) sherwood pines (1.5 miles away) Sherwood Forest nature reserve literally starts on my doorstep and is a 5 minutes walk away. I’m also a ten minute walk to the village centre where there is a picturesque high street offering a bistro, French restaurant, brand new smart canteen and bar, traditional teak pub bar and restaurant in keeping with the area which is beamed and full of character. There is also a brand new restaurant opening in the old library, a cake and coffee shop, gift shops, 3 Chinese takeaways an Indian take away, Turkish kebab takeaway and a good old fish and chip shop. There is also a post office on the high street with a good sized coop for amenities. My home is in a very quite spot in the village overlooking fields, trees, rivers, Sherwood pines and the start of Sherwood Forest nature reserve. If you would like to ask any more questions please reach out to me and message me. Warmly, Cory

  • Cory was so great! He gave very clear information on where everything is. His place was spotless and gorgeous! It’s exactly like the photos. Shower and water were lovely, great temperature and pressure, plus there’s a heated towel rack! The house heats up quickly which is a bonus on cold, dreary, rainy days plus, added bonus, the floors are heated so your toes are toasty! And the bed is to die for! It’s very comfy and warm. He has a few items in the bathroom and kitchen, spices, toiletries etc, helps when you run out or forgot to pack something. Cory was quick to reply to messages so I felt confident if I needed anything, it would quickly get sorted. It’s also very safe, not only do you have neighbours near by but the doors have locks, so you can sleep easy. It’s an easy walk to everything, highly recommend St Mary’s Church ask for Harold or Graham. The cutest cafe on high street and Sherwood Forest is an easy walk too. The village itself is very friendly. The children’s schools are putting on nativity plays and there are plenty Christmas services. Highly recommend staying here!

  • We have just returned from a fantastic few days in loxley lodge. Liz made the trip easy with good good tips on places to go and a lovely welcome basket. The place was fantastic. Beautiful, stylish and we could cycle everywhere we wanted to go. We will definitely return.

  • We’ve just returned from a lovely weekend and family get together to celebrate my husband’s 60th Birthday. This place was the perfect getaway, a beautiful place to stay and high spec with everything you need in a lovely forest location with the addition of a large hot tub (plentiful room for six people) Despite storm ‘Dennis’ raging we made good use of the tub, had some cozy family time, and enjoyed a couple of forest walks with our dog. Liz (the owner) was very informative and courteous leaving us a wonderful welcome pack including a homemade cake, even putting up birthday balloons and banners prior to our arrival. Totally recommend this holiday let anytime of year ... I imagine it would be lovely in the summer too making use of the lovely outside BBQ area. Hopefully get to try this in the future. Thanks again Liz The Flannery Family

    Jillian2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing - you won’t be disappointed if you stay here! The location is spot on, and very peaceful, which we found perfect for dog walks (the spacious garden, with private drive, is all enclosed which was also great for the dogs). High-end fixtures and fittings.. You can tell that Liz and Paul take pride in this place and the quality of everything, from kitchen utensils to the wood-burning stove, is clear to see. I expect that I’ll be returning at some point in the future!

  • Loxley Lodge exceeded all our expectations! The lodge itself is beautiful, photos do not do it justice. Hot tub was a great perk! Location was beautiful, we enjoyed a long walk through the forest and Sherwood pines to a local pub for lunch. Liz & her husband live next door, and were very attentive to any niggles we had. The welcome package was so thoughtful with treats for both us & the pooches. The thoughtfulness and attention to detail continued throughout, such as multiple towels for inside and the hot tub, toiletries provided & kitchen essentials. We most definitely would love to return in the summer months to enjoy the bbq and cycling routes.

  • We had a lovely break here in between Christmas and new year. The hosts were very welcoming and greeted us with a super welcome basket including treats for humans and dogs. They really have a beautiful lodge l and their hosting is superb, giving us advice on walks and places to eat as well as being on hand should we need anything. The hot tub was a fantastic addition and Liz maintained it well and at prior agreement, the secluded safe setting was perfect for our dogs to mill around outside while we were in the hot tub . In fact this was as much a holiday for our dogs as it was for us and our Cairn was so relaxed he forgot to bark at everything! Thank you Liz and Paul for a wonderful stay

    Rosie2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Expect to be Wowed ... Loxleys Lodge is a gem ! Arrived Christmas Eve to a roaring log fire and a welcome hamper of fresh bread, eggs , milk , biscuits, chocolates , mulled wine and so much more... even some dreamies for Wilson (our Siamese) The hot tub was bubbling away too looking very inviting. Liz was there to great us and explain everything - a lovely host from start to finish ... nothing was too much trouble . She had even baked us a fruitcake (old family recipe) as a Christmas gift... (other times of the year she bakes scones with clotted cream and jam ) What a lovely touch, 1st class . Christmas Day was spent enjoying the forest location, festive feasting and fab hot tub dips . Boxing Day took us clay pigeon shooting just 5 minutes away from the Lodge . Fabulous Christmas? Truly the best ! Don’t hesitate to book

  • We highly recommend staying at this beautiful woodland lodge as it outweighed all of our expectations and was the perfect little family get away in the woods. Liz & Paul were the perfect hosts, ensuring we had everything we needed and included some very sweet personal touches of homemade afternoon tea scones - they were delicious!! Our 4 legged friend enjoyed his welcome treats too!! 🐶! The outside space would be perfect for spring/summer bbq's, however the hot tub in the dark nights was blissful! It felt like we were at a fairytale gingerbread house with the festive lights on the lodge outside to accompany the bubbles!! We will definitely recommend to family and friends for future stays!! Big Thankyou!!

The kitchen is well equipped, except for a coffee machine, everything is available. The cleanliness was very good and the hospitality of the landlords was very warm. You get a very quick nice answer on request. I would definitely book this apartment again and would recommend it.

Adorned with many original features but with concessions to modern living with fully fitted and equipped kitchen, full bathroom with shower cubicle, off street parking, internet.
We love living in this quiet village with pubs and eateries with all main facilities in the adjoining village. You can walk into the forest from here but remain 12 miles from a train to Kings Cross and within easy reach of Nottingham and all a major city has to offer.

  • If you're looking for somewhere peaceful, quiet and in the middle of nature - then this place is perfect. It's a great spot in a beautiful house that is a farm. You have your own living room and kitchen, all of which goes straight to the garden and where the chickens and ducks are - so good place to have your morning tea! Alison was also very hospitable, helping me to get to the School of Artisan Food and back (where I was doing a 3 day course). Was also lovely to be given fresh breakfast food, including eggs from their own chickens and homebaked bread. Would highly recommend it to anyone!

  • We had a fantastic stay at Bluebell Cottage. A quirky, cosy place with a well-stocked kitchen. Rooms a generous size, lovely bath. We took earplugs and didn’t find the church bells a problem at all. We soon learned to watch out for a couple of low doorways! All added to the charm of the cottage. Comfy beds. Easy parking - either just outside or in a very close, free car park. We had two toddlers with us and managed absolutely fine. Plenty to do in the local area. Thank you!

    Clare2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Beautifully presented, lovely big family kitchen. Spent day in nearby Sherwood Forest. No garden but plenty outside space for dog walking. Owners had thought of everything even pavement bbq set on a little trolley. Wood burner easy to light and at least two petrol stations nearby to stock up on logs. Light sleepers might want to take some earplugs. Very enthusiastic church opposite which chimes every 15 mins throughout the night

    Hazel2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely cottage with lots of character

    Jon2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely, quirky cottage that is deceptively spacious and easily accommodated our party of 6 (2 adults and 4 children between the ages of 3 and 13). We were more than happy with our first ever Airbnb choice and without question we will return due to its excellent location. Just a couple of quick tips for future residents.....For the lighter sleepers, it may be worth bringing some ear plugs as you are across the road from a little church which chimes every 15 minutes. Also the village pub, also across the road, only deals in cash - no Apple Pay/cards etc and has a strict no device/laptop/mobile policy.

    Lindsay2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Bluebell Cottage was a clean and well decorated home. Very usable space, close by to amenities and venues we needed to be at.

Situated in the rural village of Boughton on the outskirts of Ollerton, Southview Cottage offers a relaxing countryside getaway with lots of character. Roughly 320 years old this property started life as 3 cottages and retains plenty of its traditional features such as oak beams (mind your heads on some of the lower ones!) but has also been modernised sympathetically to keep up with every day life
There is a lovely view to wake up to at the front of the house and plenty of space inside and out. Four good sized bedrooms and two sitting rooms mean you will always be able to have your own space, even in a full house! The house has ample room for parking with 4 cars easily fitting on the gated driveway and a large yet private garden and patio area offers plenty of opportunity for breakfast or bbq's in the sun.
There is a friendly family pub just over the road which serves good food and a variety of drinks and also has a beer garden and childrens play area. Ollerton is a short 5 minute drive away and has a large supermarket and a variety of local restaurants and takeaways. The house is ideally located for people who want to venture out with lots of things to do just a short drive away, these include: Sherwood Forest - 10 mins (3.7 miles) Rufford Abbey - 11 mins (4.1 miles) Sherwood Pines - 14 mins (6.2 miles) Wheelgate Fun Park - 16 mins (8.8 miles) White Post Farm - 16 mins (8.8 miles) Clumber Park - 17 mins (8.3 miles)
  • This is a great cottage with lots of space and character. Very comfortable beds, linen and towels were freshly laid out. Arrival was super easy and Paul was very responsive with messages. He is friendly and helpful and we felt like the place was our own for the weekend. One of the best Airbnb experiences I’ve had so far!

    Chaz2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is beautiful, much more spacious than expected, lovely pub just across the road and close to amenities. We really enjoyed our stay.

    Megan2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • We have just returned from a lovely weekend at Paul's place. The cottage has been done beautifully and had everything we needed for our weekend trip. The upstairs rooms are a great size and the little door linking 2 of them was a hit with the children. There was more than enough space for our group of 6 adults and 2 children (a baby and a toddler) and only a short step from the local pub too! The outside space looked fab (although we didn't use it as it was a rainy October weekend!) Paul was a great host and replied really quickly to my querries. I would definitely recommend and we would certainly book again for another family reunion in the local area.

  • Paul is quick to respond to any queries and is very welcoming. Would certainly rent the cottage again if working in the area.

    Steve2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • Paul is a wonderful host! He was very attentive to our needs and went above and beyond to make sure we were more than comfortable in his home. The house is so warm and inviting. It was well stocked with anything we needed for our relaxing weekend getaway. The beds were very comfortable, the patio and fire were amazing in the evening and the children (we brought FIVE) had such a wonderful time playing inside and out. We would definitely choose Paul’s home again for another weekend getaway or longer. There are local parks nearby for the children to play and Tesco and Asda are only a mile from the home. There are other things nearby for children as well and Paul is happy to give you a list of fun activities for the children just minutes away. Lovely home, amazing host, will definitely visit again!

We have the Maypole in the village green which is still used for a full village celebration on May Day - also, there's a great little pub just across the green with traditional home cooked food!
  • Lovely cottage which is superbly located. Extremely comfortable, quiet and homely. Two great pubs on the doorstep and a lovely little park just up the road. Perfect for a relaxing few days away.

    Gary2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Great place. Lovely area. Clean and tidy cottage with two lounges and a kitchen downstairs and 2 dbl bedrooms, 1 twin room and a bathroom upstairs with an enclosed garden with seating / patio to rear. Parking is available on the street directly outside the property. Two local pubs bit a stones throw away. Red lion the lesser of the two. The maypole was far nicer. Tesco superstore easily accessible by car in minutes as was less than 2 miles away. Nice bridle path if you turn right out of the property (downhill) for 20 yards and it is on your left. Runs alongside a pretty steam. About 200 yards and emerges out by a gated dog walking park (called millennium gardens) and a large and well equipped children’s play area). One word of warning - towels are not included. (Personally would happily pay a few pounds more to have these included). We were not aware so ended up shelling out a lot for towels for the whole of our party. But nonetheless had a great time and will return.

    Ian2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • My only criticism is the dinner plates are too big for the dish washer. The cottage is very well equipped and you only have to take towels with you. Lovely place. Very close to the Red Lion where your made to feel most welcome. Will definitely return.

    David2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely few days in White Horse Cottage - very comfortable and charming house. It was spacious, clean and well stocked - plenty of kitchen utensils, with the basics provided which is always much appreciated! Lovely location and fantastic value for money, We would highly recommend.

  • A lovely cosy, warm and tastefully refurbished cottage. Great location, ideal for us visiting family whilst we visited from Spain. Very spacious and the two separate living rooms (one with a TV and one without) are a great touch! A large kitchen dining area is also a great feature. Some great features and even a supply of tea and coffee! Would highly recommend staying here.

  • We really enjoyed our stay at Century House. It was a beautiful location and the house was very clean and well furnished throughout. The house was a real treat to stay in for our family get together.

    Dorothy2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • A great location for a family get together with bedrooms for 12 and enough space for people to get together, eat together or wander into other rooms for some peace and quiet if they wanted to. Great walks in the local countryside too. Heating and boiler can be a bit noisy if you’re trying to sleep in the room above it.

    Adam2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • We booked Century House for 14 of us over Christmas. The house is beautiful and immaculate. We had a lovely time. The kitchen wasn't really set up for cooking for 14 as the oven wasn't great but of you aren't planning on cooking much you will love it. The house is beautiful

    Laura2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Century House was a wonderful place to stay for our Christmas meet up, the house is beautiful and very comfortable, with plenty of space for a large group. The grounds are also stunning and well worth a walk around. Thank you!

    Jenni2019-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • Century House is incredible! The whole experience of booking and checking in and out was very easy, with excellent communication from the hosts. The place itself is absolutely breathtaking, even the beautiful pictures don't do it justice. There's plenty to do, both at the house, on the estate, and nearby. We booked for a big family reunion, and had young children in our group. Everyone had a brilliant stay.

    Emily2019-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • I would highly recommend Thoresby Hall. We stayed with a large group of friends and kids and the gardens were beautiful to explore. I imagine if better in Summer! They purchased high chairs at our request but they would benefit from stair guard for extra safety. The beds were very comfortable and it was an easily heated house. Very clean too!

    Trotter2019-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • As a family of 8 adults and 5 grandchildren (4 and under) we often struggle to find somewhere with enough space. Century house is absolutely amazing, so much room for us all to spread ourselves around in. The outside space at Thoresby park is awesome, so many places to walk, run around and investigate, with a well earned refreshment stop at the cafe. Thank you for having us ....... we look forward to coming back again

    Ann-Marie2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • An amazing space, this sumptuous house on a private estate was just ideal for our party of 12 celebrating grandad's 80th. With lots of room for us all, and great family attractions nearby (Sherwood Forest etc), the weekend flew by.

  • The cottages were perfectly placed for our party at the village hall. The fire made it very cosy.

    Clara2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is great for a large gathering

    Holly2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here as two families and had a truly wonderful stay. The house is tastefully decorated and the were festive decorations for our Christmas stay which was an extra lovely surprise. We appreciated the local activities and amenities including a visit to the Major Oak. The space worked brilliantly with two families and we could use the separate living rooms and kitchens when desired, or gather altogether (we could fit 13 around the one dining table by rotating it slightly diagonally across the room and we could all fit in either living room). The kitchens are well equipped including bigger pots and pans. We had a couple tall folk in our party so struggled a little with low door frames and the cottage in on quite a busy intersection so there was a fair bit of traffic noise (we noticed because live on a quiet road but it may not bother some). There is a 24hr launderette 12 mins drive away so if you need to do a wash during your stay, it is possible :)

Our beautiful cottage is set in the very quaint village of Ollerton. 5 minutes from Centre Parcs, Sherwood Forest and Sherwood Pines, makes for an ideal bolt hole for families who loves getting outdoors. Connected to the oldest working watermill in nottighamshire, the setting couldn't be more ideal. With a famous tea room, just next door, they make the finest tea in the country, as voted by the public! The village also boast numerous restaurants and pubs for you to endulge yourself in.
  • Wayne was great at communicating right from the moment we booked. The cottage was really special, it had lovely touches to each room. The living room was extremely comfortable & it was a perfect getaway. We loved the duvets they were so cosy & the shower worked a treat too. We were a group of 6 girls & we all felt we had a really lovely time staying here - Thankyou so much

    Alyson2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent communication with Wayne through text and email. Accurately describe accommodation and lots of home from home touches.

  • Beautiful Mill Cottage is in a great location and perfect for our family with young children. The safe and secluded garden was great for our grandchildren to play in. The cottage is surprisingly spacious, with plenty of room in all communal areas and bedrooms. The furniture and decor was beautiful and was like a home from home for us. This is a high recommendation from us as there were no negatives with this cottage. Wayne, the host, responded extremely quickly to any questions we had, I can see why he is a super host.

    Gordon2019-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Had a really nice stay in the cottage. Loads of character and we had everything we needed for our weekend away.

    Richard2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Mill Cottage was great for our mini break with our two children. Location was perfect, 5 mins to Sherwood Forest, 7 mins to Rufford Abbey and just over 10 mins to Clumber Park, all great for family days out. With a Tesco and Asda just 5 mins away in one direction and McDonald's and Fish and Chips just up the road the other way, the location was just right. The cottage itself was clean and well presented and plenty of room for our family of four. We cooked at the cottage and had all the equipment we needed during our stay. WiFi worked well and we parked easily just outside the cottage. Beds were very comfortable and the shower was powerful and hot - always important! The village is quiet and although the clock does chime every 15 mins, we soon got used to this and it didn't affect us sleeping. It was all part of staying in a lovely village location. The only downside was the famous tea rooms was closed during our stay due to bank holiday, so we couldn't visit. Hopefully we can stay again when they are open! Thanks again Darren and Wayne for a wonderful break in Mill Cottage.

    Laura2019-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely nothing missing from this property, from the extremely comfortable beds to the well equipped kitchen and comfortable couches with warm blankets to watch TV with. A perfect away from home, home.

    Catherine2019-05-24T00:00:00Z
  • This was a really interesting place to stay being an old mill cottage with higgledy-piggledy layout from a time long-gone. The decor of the cottage was very well chosen, everything super-clean. The kitchen was great for family meals and there was lots of space for our son to explore.

    Noel2019-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cottage in a lovely small village. Close to local attractions. Rooms are spacious and beds comfortable. It had everything we needed - including all the logs and firelighters for an evening fire in the living room. Following other feedback I was conscious of the church bells before going as my partner is a light sleeper but neither us, nor the kids were disturbed by them at all. Lovely stay - thanks very much

It's ideal for group gatherings. Plenty of room for guests to fan out as well as congregate in the kitchen and living area. Highly recommend for large groups.

  • Lovely house, perfect for our hen do, just a 30min drive into notts centre. Really accommodating and lovely space 😊 thankyou!

    Maisie2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • This is a splendid place and Vicki and David were extremely welcoming and helpful. The house comfortably accommodated ten adults and one child, and could have accommodated more children easily. The kitchen and the sitting room were also large enough for us all to sit around with each other comfortably. This is fantastic value for money, which I highly recommend. There's a great pub down the road too... Thank you Vicki and David!

    Rachel2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Great for big groups, lots of open space and big rooms. The place has a rustic feel and we had a fantastic time all sitting around the fireplace.

    Thomas2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second year at Chapel Farm for a fabulous family festive Christmas stay (23rd -27th Dec). It is just perfect as a large extended family oriented space - very welcoming and sociable, with a large kitchen and table to all sit around, as well as a big, but cosy, sitting room to all enjoy each others company together. However, Chapel Farm is large and spread out enough (over 3 floors) to allow for some much welcome privacy and downtime. The annexe is also such a bonus in this regard. The location is perfect and off the beaten track - remote enough to be able to enjoy the surrounding countryside (Rufford Country Park is a lovely spot), but with two good pubs within walking distance. We encountered a couple of minor issues with plumbing and heating, but David & Vicky were great hosts and couldn't have been more helpful with instant responses to resolve these. Their communications were fantastic and reassuring both before and during our stay. Thank you x

    Julia2019-12-27T00:00:00Z

Full use of my lovely modern home, with 4 bedrooms (3 double, 1 single), en-suite and family bathrooms, lounge, kitchen/diner, downstairs toilet and garden. I live within 15-20 mins drive from Mansfield and Worksop. Chesterfield, Sheffield and Nottingham can all be reached in less than an hour. Sherwood Forest is less than 10 mins drive, with lots of nice walks in the vicinity. Easy on street parking and a relaxed homely feel.
Towels and toiletries are provided, and please help yourself to a hot drink downstairs. I'm happy to help you out with other things you might need, or may have forgotten so please do just ask. My home is very relaxed, it's not a hotel, but that's what I and my guests enjoy about it. I offer a clean space but my stuff may be around. I am a busy person but rest assured the house will always be clean, tidy and ready for you! I don't stay in the house but am easily available by phone and can be back in less than 10 mins if there are any problems.
The house is in a quiet residential area with no through traffic as it is a cul-de-sac. It's only a few minutes walk to the village high street which offers a Post Office, bakeries, butchers, grocery store and various take aways.
  • Perfect accommodation for four blokes on a golfing trip. Modern, bright and clean. Excellent breakfast foodstuffs provided. Very good communication from the owner. Can't recommend highly enough.

  • The house is accurately described - clean, comfortable and gives lots of space, and is well-located for Sherwood Forest, a great nearby park and Mansfield. Rachel was always on hand to answer any questions quickly. Lots of breakfast options left for us, and thoughtful touches of sweets for the kids.

    Jo2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Clean, large, well equipped and homely

    Hazel2019-08-04T00:00:00Z

Our rambling cottage sits between Clumber, Thoresby, Rufford and Sherwood parks. 5 bedrooms; two doubles with en suites and two king bedrooms, a twin and two family bathrooms. Accommodates 12 comfortably if some rooms are shared. Dining room is usually set up for 12, but we seated 68 guests for our wedding here, so non-staying guests could come for dinner. Beautiful gardens, a 5 acre field and adventure fort to play in too! Parking for 6 cars - up to 18 cars if you park on the grass.
Looking for a long isolated getaway with your family during April? Ask me for a special offer! Our rambling cottage has three receptions rooms - the sitting room, the snug and the dining room that is usually set up for 12 but could seat 70 if you have a special event to invite others to. It’s an ideal space for a family group of 8-12 people who wish to stay for a few days, for a work retreat when both accommodation and quiet work facilities are needed; or for a celebration when family may want to stay a few days - and invite guests for a meal or garden party. Louise and I held our wedding here - an informal DIY country wedding. Close family stayed 3 days to help set up and clear up. Some guests camped in our field! We used caterers for the main event - Pudding Pantry did a superb job, not just fantastic food, but serving throughout the day and they had someone on the bar in the evening. The kitchen is well equipped, including a double Rangemaster electric oven with 5 gas hobs and large fridge freezer. There is a further double oven. Perfect if you are planning a dinner party. There is also a utility room with over sized washer and dryer. Upstairs there are two bedrooms with king sized beds, two with double beds and en suites and one twin room that can be made into four singles. A double sofa bed is also in the dressing area of the master king room and a mattress/ camp bed can be put in another bedroom if needed. We are really flexible in accommodating different configurations, so please just let us know your needs. There are large gardens for children and pets to play in and adults to sit out in. The fire bowl can provide a great place to relax if the weather is fine. We love roasting marshmallows. A gas BBQ is also available. There is an upright piano in the dining room for playing and toys that are left are also to be played with. Cocking Hill House was the setting of Christmas Bargain Hunt 2018: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p06vcsss
Our cottage is a great distance by car to Lincoln (35 mins), Newark (20 mins) and Nottingham (40 mins). We are no more than 10 minutes from any of the major parks for walks, cycling, Go Ape and running. We sit neatly (within a 5 minute drive) between the royal village of Laxton and its traditional three field system and the wonderful Dovecote Inn pub for fabulous, high quality pub food in the evening and Thaymars for gorgeous ice cream, high teas and lunches. Slightly further ... (10 minutes drive) we have the Old Plough pub (also gorgeous food) in Egmanton and in the opposite direction Rose Cottage (on route to Sherwood Pines and Centre Parks).
  • The house was lovely and had everything needed for a lovely weekend. The house is much bigger than it looks but still manages to be cosy. Boat is exquisite and the reading room is amazing.

  • A fabulous space - James was a very accommodating host and the house was beautiful.

  • A fantastic house. Plenty of space for a large group- we were 10 adults, 4 children and 2 dogs! Great place to spend Christmas and lovely little touches such as the xmas tree and welcome treats. The warm mince pies were a hit! All the bedrooms and bathroons were lovely. Kitchen was well stocked with plates, cutlery, mugs etc. We were sad to leave and would definitely recommend to others.

    Kelly2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic space for a group reunion for school friends, the huge downstairs space is perfect for kids to play & just so helpful to have toys, stairgates, camp beds, kids cutlery, potties, shampoo etc all available - it’s like being at home , but nicer! No need to bring cooking oil, teabags and the like you’d usually take to self catering holidays - just lovely. It was a little cold and muddy to use the garden much but we’re tempted to come back again in the summer, and the weather also meant we very much enjoyed a cold Saturday late afternoon in the snug with a fire and a Christmas film. Easy to get to from all over the country which is why we chose it, and had a lovely day out at Sherwood Forest (good for kids and dog!). The welcome pack with snacks and a bottle of fizz also went down very well and was much appreciated. Thanks!

  • James's house was lovely and exactly what we were looking for. Loads of space and plenty of bedrooms to host everyone is our group. The house was well stocked with essentials and nice extra touches like blankets. James was a great host, he helped us last minute when we were cancelled on late and he was so helpful. Cannot say thank you enough times for the lovely stay.

A cosy cottage with plenty of room for 6 on our working family farm with wonderful views across our patchwork fields, complete with our pure white Charolais cows and their calves during the summer months. Nearly a mile from the nearest road, beyond the site of Jordan Castle, and sheltered by Wellow Park Wood, it really is possible to ‘get away from it all’ in this tranquil spot! See our website www.sherwoodforestholidaycottages.com for more detail
Jordan Castle Farm has been in our family for three generations and is farmed in a traditional and environmentally friendly way.
Wellow is the archetypal English village, with 18th century brick and pantile cottages nestling round the village green with its painted maypole 60 feet high. In fact children dance around the maypole and the Wellow May Queen is crowned on the late Spring Bank Holiday at the end of May each year. The village has a traditional pub (The Olde Red Lion) and a restaurant and Bar (The Maypole at Wellow), whilst riding stables and an 18 hole golf course are close by.
  • Great, quiet cottage, handy to local amenities. Lots of space.

  • A large farm house cottage set on a working farm, set well back from the road so very quiet, the house was warm, comfortable and has plenty of space and is a great place to base yourselves to explore the surrounding area.

An Edwardian property, standing in its own large landscaped gardens near the site of Jordan Castle with wonderful views across our working family farm. It is the ideal place for up to 8 people to gather and relax in four star comfort. See our website www.sherwoodforestholidaycottages.com for more detail.
Foliat House was orginally built as the Huntsman's House for the Rufford Hunt in 1904. Refurbished in 2010, the House is furnished to a high standard with lots of facilities for you to enjoy and make your stay in the countryside as relaxing as possible. Foliat House is situated on our family farm, Jordan Castle Farm. It derives its name from the 'motte and bailey' manor house that is now only visible as an earthwork. It dates from the 13th Century, the right to fortify the manor house having been granted by the king to Richard Foliat (father of Jordan) in 1263. The farm belonged to one of the greatest estates in this area (Rufford) until 1939 when our family purchased it at the estate's demise. It now extends to 267 acres (108 hectares) and is divided almost equally into arable and pasture land. The latter carries our 70-cow herd of Poll Charolais cattle. We have been polling (i.e. breeding off the horns) for over 30 years now. Our entire farm is part of the Countryside Stewardship Scheme, which is a government scheme to encourage conservation and help the environment. Over the past forty years we have renovated most of our hedges (only two have been removed in 70 years), planted over 1000 metres of hedgerow, pruned our 1860’s orchard, cleaned four ponds, pollarded willow trees and in 2000 completely refitted our 1796 brick-built barn. We farm in a sensitive way to work with nature. This is not new here but now has a modern name. It's called 'integrated farm management'. We try to combine modern techniques with an age-old love of the countryside. We think the amount of wildlife you are likely to see proves this.

We are only 2 miles away from the small town of Ollerton, with full shopping facilities including an extended-hours supermarket, chemist, take-away food etc.
  • A great place to stay. The 2 twin rooms really suited our group of 4 children. The kids loved the den area with a TV and toys. The house is spacious whilst very warm and cosy. The large garden was a bonus. I definitely recommend Foliat House.

  • Great location for exploring the area. Plenty of space inside and out. Stunning views of the countryside.

  • We really enjoyed our stay at this accomodation this summer. It was a nice place for the adults and also child friendly. We had four children (age 2-7) plus and infant and they were able to run around in the garden/house/play room freely and safely. It was also very close to some very nice and inexpensive play areas for the children by car. We really enjoyed being in an area which was close to the village for easy access but felt like we were out in the country.

    Isla2019-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely house in the countryside, really enjoyed our stay.

  • Foliat House is just as stunning as it looks, the views are fantastic, it's a total getaway. A 10 minute walk into the village, pubs and country walks are on your doorstep. This house is perfect for groups, there's lots of space to be together or have some down time with a book. We were a group of 6 adults and two children under 3, we all loved every minute!
