Places to stay in Brattleboro
This spacious studio apartment is located in the former Swedish Congregational Church in historic Swedeville, a secluded hilly neighborhood built by Swedish immigrants in the 1800's. For years it housed Rick and Liza’s stained glass studio, which they have now lovingly and creatively transformed into a residence. The rental is minutes from the interstate and one mile from downtown Brattleboro, but the neighborhood has a rural and somewhat European flavor to it.
This 20x20 rental has ten foot high pressed tin ceilings, arched windows, stained glass, a comfortable queen sized bed as well as a twin sized day bed which converts to a king sized bed. The space offers a private subway-tiled bathroom with shower. The kitchenette is equipped with a small fridge, induction hot plate, toaster oven, microwave, french press coffee maker, coffee grinder, tea pot, dishes and utensils. We will provide the fixings for coffee and tea for your use and we leave some breakfast foods in the fridge. Note: We do not have a kitchen sink so we will wash your dishes each day if you leave them outside your door each morning in a container we provide. We have a lovely vegetable and flower garden. You can expect to be greeted by roses or peonies or morning glories depending on the season. The October foliage is outstanding in this area and this neighborhood has some strikingly brilliant trees. During the winter when it snows, the neighborhood looks wonderful coated in sparkling white! Please note that there is a long term rental apartment above this space. You may on occasion hear footsteps on the stairs above. Our renter is very responsive and respectful.
Brattleboro has regularly been recognized as one of the best small towns and best art towns in the USA. It is home to galleries and thrift stores, to a great farmers' market and a monthly gallery walk, to a wonderful youth theatre, a jazz center, and a wide variety of restaurants and shops. Swedeville is a couple of blocks from nature trails for hiking or cross country skiing depending on season. There are many areas for swimming and hiking nearby as well. We are 10 minutes from the Marlboro Music Festival and less than an hour away from Mount Snow and only a bit further from other downhill ski areas.
  • This was the perfect place for a creative retreat! Liza’s place is beautiful with so many thoughtful details- art, local recommendations, even a box of my favorite tea! Liza and Rick were gracious hosts -quick to answer any of my questions! I loved waking up to views of the garden and forest. With its location in walking distance of downtown and hiking trails, I could not have asked for anything more. I will definitely be back!

Welcome to the Tiny Art House! With a covered porch nearly as big as the house itself, there's plenty of room and a pleasing view of white pines and field grasses. It has a sleeping loft with a queen-sized bed and 2 extra twin mattresses. We offer one free one-time spa pass for quests book at least 2 nights (hot tub, salt water pool, gym, sauna, steam room and shower). Additional passes are $15 and do not have to be purchased ahead of time. Please read the full description of the space.
The Tiny Art House has a composting toilet, gas stove and oven, coffee maker, toaster, and simple cooking supplies. Spring water for drinking and light clean up is provided but there is no hot or running water (you can heat water on the gas stove). Tiny Art House is a ten-minute walk from the West River where you can walk or bike the 8 miles of trail along the river. You can take the 45 minute walk on the trail or drive 10 minutes to downtown Brattleboro where you'll find eateries, breweries, a movie theater, bowling, art museum and galleries, local shopping, book stores, hiking trails, and tubing and canoe/kayak rentals. There are also some great swimming spots on the West River.
The Tiny Art House is located two miles from the exit 3 rotary on route I-91. Most of the two miles are dirt roads. There are six other homes on our dead end road (Fox Farm) with lots of fields and woods in between.
  • Had an amazing time here! Ending up going by myself and it was a perfect peaceful retreat to relax, read, and keep things simple. The downtown area is close and has a lot of nice stores and restaurants. Honestly, wasn’t sure how the toilet worked but I managed and the bed was so comfortable!

    Lauren2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful stay! Three people and a dog stayed comfortably. Secluded in nature but close to conveniences.

    Jess2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great night at Chuck’s place. Everything was clean, cozy, and easy going, and felt totally comfortable and private despite being on a property so near other homes.

    Amy2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Fun space. The bed was comfortable and the house was delightfully warm. The stars were gorgeous from the porch.

    Michael2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely getaway for a weekend or more! We enjoyed being close to nature along West River and downtown Brattleboro.

    Andrew2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Pretty good place. If you don’t want a typical motel in the Brattleboro area, this cute and cozy mini cabin will do the trick. It could use a little work on the craftsmanship (walls need extra reinforcing, painting) and the door should be able to be locked from the outside. I’d also add that you should definitely make sure You have a 4WD or AWD car if you’re staying here. The dirt road leading up to it is quite muddy and difficult to navigate if you don’t have a capable car. Other than that I wish there was running water and a fireplace, but since Chuck was upfront about that stuff, this place met my expectations. I don’t recommend this place for someone over 6 feet tall and over 250 pounds.

    Anour2020-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • Chuck provided us with an unforgettable stay; his Tiny Art House is so perfectly cozy and comforting, especially for watching the snow fall on a Winter’s night. The place was warm and inviting upon first entering, and kept it’s homey feel while still feeling like a retreat in the woods. I cannot recommend it enough, and I look forward to coming back and making more memories!

    Kendra2020-01-17T00:00:00Z
  • Chuck's TAH was the greatest answer to our need of a "do nothing and relax" getaway. There is plenty to do in the surrounding area, and Brattleboro was the best to wander and explore. But don't let the size of this little cabin fool you-- it is well beyond comfortable to just hang around and play cards in! The porch was even wonderful to sit out on while it snowed, wrapped up in a blanket. Our stay was beyond our expectations; we even got to buy some of Chuck's art to take home with us! This is an experience you will not regret, and one we plan on reliving many more times!

The apartment is centrally located, cozy, quiet and private. It has been set up to be a comfortable retreat. It's private entrance leads upstairs to an open living room/ kitchen space. The back door opens to a deck overlooking a ball field and green hills. The sleeping nook contains a queen size , metal framed bed. The mattress is comfortable and the sheets are soft. The apartment is located on the second floor of our detached garage. We live in the main house on the premises.
Residential neighboorhood Close to downtown Brattleboro, I91 Exit 1, the hospital and more. From this location you have easy access to Rte 30 as well as Rte 9. These are the picturesque routes that lead to the Green Mountains of Vermont and all the opportunities for the fun and adventure they offer.
  • This was our second stay with Mary & Lance and it was just as great as the first time. We stay to go riding at mount snow (only 45 mins away) but conditions were too warm so we ending up coming back early going for a nice walk at Fort Dummer park right up the block. It was perfect! Had good food and beer at the brewery in town but their home is the perfect location to explore other towns near by. The apartment is so clean and the fireplace makes it so cozy. The snacks and coffee are also super appreciated!100% recommend a stay here!!! :)

Our place is situated on a plateau above West River with access to an 8-mile bike path, hiking trails, idyllic river swimming and cross country skiing. We're two miles to grocery stores and gas stations and 4 miles to charming downtown Brattleboro. You’ll love our place because of the beautiful land, gardens, pottery studio, and gallery. Our place is good for couples, soloists, families with kids, and furry friends (dogs must be on a leash when on the property).
The space is attached to our 270 year-old farm house but it has its own entrance. It consists of an entrance hallway, a sitting area, bathroom with stand-up shower and kitchenette with a mini-fridge, microwave, and an electric kettle for making coffee, tea and hot chocolate. It has a small staircase leading up to a large sleeping loft with the capacity to sleep up to 5. Fresh linens and towels provided. Air conditioning is available if you like. Children and friendly dogs on leashes are more than welcome!
Our place is at the end of a 1/2-mile long dirt road with 6 houses on it. We are located on a stunning plateau above the West River...a 10-minute walk and you're close to several fabulous swimming holes. You can also hike or bike the 8-mile long trail that runs along the river. If you want to can walk to the Marina restaurant and eat dinner with a gorgeous view of the Retreat Meadows and the evening sunset.

  • This place is perfect! My friends and I were looking for an affordable place near Mount Snow so we could enjoy a long weekend snowboarding. This was close enough to the mountain that we could easily drive back and forth, it was in a beautiful secluded area which made it easy for resting after a long day, and the layout is super cool! It was everything we could’ve possibly wanted. Chuck left us some awesome local recommendations and was very responsive to all of our messages and requests. Next time we’re in town we will absolutely be staying at Chuck’s!!!

We are shutting down our AirBnB for the near future, as part of our home's COVID-19 prevention plan. We are optimistic it will clear up, just not sure when. We are 3 miles from Brattleboro center, near-ish to Mts. Snow, Stratton and Okemo, off of I-91. The Amtrak from Wash DC and NYC stops here. This is an architect-designed "high-performance" contemporary home, on 3 wooded acres, surrounded by forest and pasture. Large windows give eastward views of forests and mountains of New Hampshire.
This private, light-filled lower level apartment in the owner's home includes: - Private entrance that takes you past a lush, terraced garden. - Several picture-window views of the New Hampshire mountains to the east. In morning you can see the sun rise, and in the evening the mountains are basked in warm light. - Bedroom with queen bed, walk-in closet and desk. - New, modern open plan kitchen, with fridge, induction stove top, over-counter microwave, countertop toaster oven and quartz stone counters. - Living area with couch that may be opened to a queen bed, and a smart (internet) TV. - If you want more than one bed: The couch opens up to a queen bed and and we add a 4" mattress topper, which is comfy. We also have a queen size airbed. For either of these, please tell us in advance, so that this is set up for you before you arrive. - Full bathroom. - Direct access to the laundry area, also used by the main house. - High speed gigabit internet. Generally over 200MB download speeds throughout the apartment - Security: This is a low-crime area. Nevertheless, we have a security system in place that makes it safer for everyone, as our AirBnB guests who come from different locations may be less familiar with our area. How this is an Eco house... This "high-performance" home has a low carbon footprint, while being comfortable, appropriate to the surroundings, and well crafted. - The home is all-electric, 50% powered by rooftop solar panels and no fossil fuels are used for heating or indoor cooking. Smoking is not allowed. - Warmth is supplied by radiant floor heating. - We supply some food prep ingredients that we buy in bulk (local), in order to reduce need for guests who want to cook here, who may otherwise buy these packaged items. See House Manual for details that may help you for shopping, if you want to cook here. - We supply reusable shopping bags and vegetable bags. (See House Manual for using these at Brattleboro Food Co-op). - The walls and roof are super-insulated and windows are triple glazed. - Whole house ventilation system brings fresh air into all the rooms. - Hot water heat pump technology. - Kitchen cooktops are induction, which is energy conserving. - Front-loading washer conserves water. - We try to maintain good habits: Being prudent about water use, turning off light bulbs when not in use, and keeping thermostats at 68d or lower. Access to this country home during winter requires a car with snow or all-weather tires to get up the moderately-steep drive.
Brattleboro (occasionally referred to as "the banana belt" of VT) is the hub for a lovely area in southeastern VT. The town is a few degrees warmer than nearby and also very beautiful areas, because of its location on the Connecticut river. We love being here because of the mix of beautiful outdoors, vibrant creative culture, farm and food, independent thinking, and direct democracy in the form of town meeting and Select Board style of government... citizens here get to make a difference in the way their town is governed. Also, there is a little history right near our home. Rudyard Kipling wrote Jungle Book while in his home called Naulahka, 1 mile up our road, after he moved here (for a period) to live with his Vermont-raised wife. The back dirt roads within a 2-3 mile radius of our home are beautiful, and spotted with farms, maple-tapping forests and sugar houses, a cemetery from the 1800s, a wooden covered bridge, and other things that are fun to drive, bike or hike around and see. There are 1-2 short hikes or walks that you can do from our house, without needing a car. Just ask us if you want to know about it. Our AirBnB guidebook lists activities and restaurants that we recommend.

  • I very much enjoyed my stay at Roberts. The place was clean, quiet and convenient. It was close enough to walk to many restaurants and stores and parking was easy.

    Sheila2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy space in great location walking distance from downtown Brattleboro. I spent almost a week at Robert’s Airbnb. He was a great host, communicated well, and always about whether or not other guests would be staying at the Airbnb. He allowed full use of the apartment, and offered amenities like coffee, seltzer, and other snacks and pantry items. I would not hesitate to book again!!

We're two blocks from Main Street and it's just a few blocks more to the local theater, art and culture, a variety of excellent restaurants, and walking trails. You’ll love my place because we're so close to town, but not on a main through street, so it's quiet here. My place is good for couples, or a group of friends, solo adventurers, traveling professionals, and for a great get-away.
The apt has a fully equipped kitchen, microwave, coffee bean grinder and all, if you want to bring, or to buy your own food. if you need other appliances, just ask. Cable and Apple TV hooked up. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask us. Thank you for your interest!
Town is just a few blocks long. About 2 blocks from here is the best coffee. Mocha Joes roasts their own. There is a Food Co-op 6 blocks away, open to all, that has local, organic and all around great stuff. It is right by the Latchis movie theater. There are quite a few restaurants, in this small area. There's a bagel place in the center of town, also a small cafe called Bakery Arts, which has wonderful fresh breads and good lunches. Dinner restaurants are from the high end, Duo, to a small fish and chips place, all within a few blocks of each other and 4-5 blocks from here. There are locally owned used/consignment/antique furniture stores. There are several clothing stores, including a new and used clothing store that caters to the more hip and youthful minded dressers. Downtown has fine jewelry stores, Vermont Artisans which carries fine art from local artists, crafters, potters, and other art galleries with more eclectic, international artwork, a couple of high end, and ethnic, home furnishings stores. We also boast a couple of vinyl, and other music media stores, bookstores include eclectic, mystery and two used bookstores. There are several quirky boutiques, an ice cream parlor, a yogurt place, I think a few tattoo parlors and other interesting oddities. There are small shopping areas to the north, the south and west of town. Larger shopping centers are about a half hour to an hour from here.
  • This is a gem of an apartment right in the center of Brattleboro! Very clean; spacious and with tons of character. Really great host and a great value.

    Alexander2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful space that is very centrally located. We parked the car and walked downtown from the house the whole time we were there. Would definitely stay again!

    Thomas2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Four of us stayed here for a night to break up the drive to Vermont for skiing. Jaki was very easy to communicate with and was very accommodating. The place was clean and the location was perfect - right by downtown! We would definitely stay here again.

    Caroline2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment provided good value. It was large enough for two couples. It was clean, had good beds and nice kitchen. We liked the proximity to down town Brattleboro. Check in was uncomplicated. Directions for the internet etc. were plain and complete. It was also very quiet, which was surprising being so close to downtown.

    John2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Jaki was a prompt communicator, and her space was perfect for a weekend getaway with my partner. She was polite and the house was clean and adorable as well as super close to downtown. Definitely would recommend!

    Ellen2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • Jaki's place was lovely. We came for my birthday weekend and it was awesome. It was super cold and snowy outside but we couldn't tell - great heat! Communication was simple and smooth as well as the house rules. Both bedrooms were sunny, nice and spacious with one at the top of some slightly steep stairs. My friend who came walked around a lot with no problem - it was super close to the downtown area, hiking, and food options. The large sheet bath towels and huge bathroom were a plus! Pro Tip: bring house slippers/ indoor only shoes since it's recommended (not required) to take off shoes to keep the floor cleaner. We always do, so no issues for us. All three of thought this was one of the best Airbnb places we've stayed.

  • Very clean, simple, and comfortable. Terrific location in five-minute's walk to the center of Brattleboro village. Rustic in a nice New England way, like a well-tended vacation cottage.

The apartment is a recently-renovated studio with a historic charm. It features a big, romantic stone fireplace, tasteful, comfortable furnishings and decor, full kitchen, cable TV, wireless internet, a deliciously comfortable king-size bed, in a private yet convenient location.
In the 1950's the house belonged to the legendary Ely Culbertson- father of American Contract Bridge and author of many books on bridge as well treatises on world peace and utopian world government. He was a character! The beautiful wood-paneled walls, hardwood floors, view of our gardens, full bath, tasteful decor and a modern kitchen area make this space unique, welcoming and warm. The location is ideal; the forest behind and beside the house give a feeling of being in a quiet, secluded home in the woods, yet the apartment is only a quarter-mile from Interstate 91 and a few hundred yards from Rt.9, the main east-west state highway leading to western Vermont and New Hampshire. We are proud of our flower gardens which surround the house, including herbs and vegetables growing right outside your door; feel free to pluck some parsley or pick a tomato or two for your dinner! There's also a lovely place to sit outside for dining al fresco, and we provide a Weber charcoal grill so you can grill a steak or throw some shrimps on the barby. The bustling, artsy town of Brattleboro is only 1.5 miles down the road. Just steps away is Brattleboro's renowned Farmers' Market, with fresh local produce, wonderful food stands and local arts and crafts. Five minutes walk will bring you to Memorial Park, with a summer swimming pool and other features, and nightly softball games under the lights. Nearby are incredible hiking trails (there are some great trails right behind the house), swimming holes, canoe rentals, a terrific 18-hole golf course, and downtown you'll find unique shopping and fine dining (we've got lots of recommendations, from the tender ribs at the Top of the HIll grill to the exquisite gourmet fare of T.J. Buckleys.) We renovated the apartment with vacation rentals in mind; unlike many airbnb rentals it is dedicated to our guests and you're free to make the space your own. There's plenty of closet space, private parking and a welcoming, homey feeling that we're sure you'll enjoy. We do provide all the modern conveniences, including a dishwasher and large microwave, high-speed wifi internet, and cable TV with a "smart" tv that has open accounts for Netflix and Hulu. We look forward to meeting you and hope you enjoy your stay here at the Culbertson House!
Our studio is in a prime location in Brattleboro, near major thoroughfares yet secluded and quiet. Everything is close to here, but the same time it feels like you live in the forest. Steps away from the Brattleboro Farmers' Market, activities at Living Memorial Park, minutes from downtown Brattleboro. We're near a good 18-hole golf course, canoe rentals in the West River, and the funky and varied shops and restaurants of downtown Brattleboro are only a mile away. Ski and golf at Stratton or Mt. Snow, both about 40 minutes away.
  • We loved it! We were able to relax in the super comfy king size bed & enjoyed talking trips in to town. Everything was clean & lovely, & Julia & David have a gorgeous yard - an added benefit to wake up to!

    Corinne2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • The host went above and beyond awaiting our late arrival. Dave & Julia's accommodations are an excellent place to stay in the Brattleboro area. The Farm's Market within walking distance offered local insights. The picturesque covered bridge and public setting area provided a stunning backdrop for our photos. A quick trip to the Vermont Country store is a wonderful way to start off the morning if you're so inclined. I recommend Julia's place to anyone visiting the Brattleboro are!

    Carlos2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • Julia’s place is a real gem. She’s very open and communicative and extremely welcoming. The place has everything you need and more; it was very clean, thoughtfully furnished and very cozy. The bathroom and kitchen did not lack anything. The house is close to town, to a great farmers’ market and great trails to walk or hike. We had one of the most relaxing long weekends in a very long time. We loved it and hope to book again in the future!

    Ana2019-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • The place was as advertised and then some. Julia and David were both very accommodating and available whenever you needed anything. Just ask! The location was great, private and yet close to town. The view of the stars at night was awesome. I definitely felt at home during my stay.

    Scott2019-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • Well located, quiet with beautiful gardens and woods surrounding.

Cute 1832 cape, 5-min walk downtown, free onsite parking. Situated on busy 1-way side street. Please check the directions before you arrive! Tended with care 2nd floor bedroom + shared bath w/ tub + shower. Private kitchenette. Bathroom right across hall from guest room. Bathroom shared w/ 1 person, my housemate/friend of 20 years who keeps to himself. His bedroom + the guest bedroom + shared bathroom + kitchenette make up the 2nd flr. I live on the 1st flr. NO LATE CHECK-INS unless preapproved
Historic home that formerly belonged to Dr. Wesselhoeft, a German physician who practiced the Water Cure in the 19th century. Literature provided on this interesting time in local and American history. Experience a little taste of the Water Cure by soaking in the bathtub. Bubble bath provided. Please note that I clean the shared bathroom either the day before or the day of guest arrival, but the bathroom is also used by my housemate. He is mostly tidy but I cannot guarantee there won't be a stray blob of shampoo in the shower or something. Please note: NO LATE CHECK-INS (past 10pm) unless preapproved. LAYOUT: After you enter my home, you will be in a small entryway, facing a staircase - upstairs and to the right are the guest quarters. My bedroom and living space is downstairs. We will likely only cross paths in the downstairs hallway. You may feel a sense of privacy upstairs as my housemate is quiet, frequently out, and mostly keeps to himself. In your private, thoughtfully decorated room, an LL Bean down comforter will keep you super warm in winter, on a memory foam mattress with foam topper. There is a simple hook-and-eye lock for you to use if you wish when you are in the room. My guest room is exclusively used by Airbnb guests. Guests have commented on how comfortable the bed is, the convenient location near downtown, and the good WiFi connection. From a guest: “One thing that stood out for us was the exceptional bedside reading lamps--better than any hotel we've stayed in.” Your private room is well-insulated, warm and cozy in winter, and as cool as you wish at the height of summer - portable AC unit available by request. Free-range rabbit, Ruby, roams the house and might try to keep you company. She’s a little shy but also friendly. If her presence bothers you, let me know and I will keep her downstairs. There is now a lovely little kitchenette down the hall from the guest room, with coffeemaker, mini-fridge, microwave, dishes, organic coffee and half-n-half if you wish; various teas, and instant oatmeal.
My house is very close to downtown and all that Brattleboro offers! I am a Vermont native and can give you recommendations, directions, etc. Several hiking entry points walkable from my home. I am 1.5 miles from NECCA, and 1 mile away from the Harris Hill Ski Jump. Many guests have taken the short walk from the bus/train station to my house, and sometimes I’m able to give guests a ride to my house depending on my work schedule. -Don't miss my Local Eats!! Guidebook for lots of tips on local eateries. Yes, I’m a foodie. Many local menus (paper!) provided in an informational binder I keep for guests. May through October, there is a fabulous outdoor Saturday Farmer’s Market from 9am - 2pm, about 1.25 miles from my home. Highly recommended for delicious prepared food, fresh veggies, artisan skincare products, locally made wine, pottery, jewelry, and many other treasures. During winter, the market moves to an indoor location on Flat Street.
  • Emma’s listing is ideal for a value-based getaway into Brattleboro. I recommend it for its closeness to the downtown area. Her recommendations helped add a lot of value to my experience during the Presidential Day weekend

  • I was so pleased with the homey feeling at Emma's place. There was ample room for me to have privacy, get a little desk work done, make tea and heat up food, and keep my snacks refrigerated. The location was awesome for getting to downtown Brattleboro on foot. The bed was super comfortable - quality sheets and bedding, great mattress, perfect reading lamps and charging stations for phone and laptop. Friendly hospitality and housemate contributed to pleasant atmosphere.

Just a walk over the bridge from downtown, across the Connecticut River, to a trail up Mt. Wantastiquet for a spectacular view all around and back onto downtown. Walk away from downtown and it's just ten blocks to one entrance of the Retreat Trails, or a half mile or so to either another section of the Retreat Trails, or the West River Trail which goes all the way to the covered Dummerston Bridge, or the biking lane on the other side of the West River, along Rte 30. From May through Thanksgiving, you can bike or drive five minutes to the farmstands and international food stalls at the Farmers Market on Rte 9, and just a little longer in any direction to the many local farmstands offering their fresh veggies and fruit! In the winter, the Farmers Market moves indoors at the River Garden in the middle of downtown. We are also within a five minute walk or drive from SIT and the School for World Training, Marlboro College downtown campus, the New England Center for the Circus Arts, Brattleboro campus of CCV - Community College of Vermont, and the Union Institute and University.
  • Jaki's place was very nice, centrally located, and was a great place to stay for a weekend. I would definitely return

    Owen2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Jake was very prompt in her responses. Her place was really only a few blocks from Main Street, with roomy parking and an adorable space. She was thoughtful enough to set up the futon bed for us without our even asking. The view from the enclosed porch is great too.

    A2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • My daughter and I frequently stay at Jaki’s place. Clean, comfy with a full kitchen... it truly has all you need. It is ideally situated about a five minute walk to town. We stay there so often that it’s beginning to feel like our second home. It’s not, however, so you can stay there too! Highly recommend!

    Susanne2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Jaki's was just what we'd hoped for - a great apartment within walking distance of the shops of Brattleboro. She went out of her way to make sure the space was cozy and warm before we got there. And cozy doesn't mean small, we had lots of room to sprawl out and relax. Parking was a breeze, the little amenities were there, and she greeted us before we went out our first night. We would stay again, maybe next time in the spring or summer to take advantage of the porch(es!)

    David2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment is spacious and conveniently located to access Main Street in town. Clean & quaint. Jaki is very thorough with directions for how to get there and how things work.

    Catherine2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Jaki was an amazing host. She was super responsive about any questions we had and helped give tips about the local restaurants and downtown area. She kept the place very clean and her instructions for check in and check out were very clear and easy. I would without a doubt stay at Jaki’s place again.

This barn apartment was designed for my parents with the idea of keeping parts of the old horse barn in view. It has a private garden in back for the guests use and is a step away from the trails in the Retreat woods and a short walk to downtown shopping, dining and entertainment
  • Beautiful surroundings including a very interesting forest walk ending at a medieval “Rapunzel” tower right behind the apartment! Easy walk through a very safe, artsy neighborhood full of Victorian houses (old “painted ladies”) to the adorable downtown. Locals very friendly. Super convenient location: post office, shopping, diverse dining options, awesome food CO-OP, thrift store and old fashioned theater... even a Walmart about 15 mins away. We can’t do “unplugged” so we brought aTV screen a DVD player and a bunch of movies. Our artistic juices started flowing and there was quite a bit of sketching and poetry writing in between. Brattleboro is very artistic:) All of this and so affordable, we are so happy we found this place!!!!

    Irene2019-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • Kathleen was a very gracious and excellent host. She was great with communication, and her rental had lots of amenities, including a helpful booklet on the town of Brattleboro. It's also super close to the main town center. We'd definitely stay there again when visiting Brattleboro.

    Alanah2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Sparkling clean, charming, and comfortable cottage. We wish we could have stayed longer!

    Rebecca2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely, quiet space. Simple and tasteful finishes and exquisite craftsmanship -- extremely comfortable bed and bedding, bountiful heat and hot water. May strike some as spartan (no internet service, no cable TV, no super-duper fancy kitchen gadgets....), but the space holds the spirit of Vermont. For this traveler, the understated beauty of the place was a balm for the soul. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

    Susan2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • Expect quaint and look forward to a simple yet warming and comfortable abode, close to nature and to town with peaceful surroundings. Perfect location to enjoy Brattleboro in its many facets. We will be back!

  • Absolutely perfect stay! You have a whole 'house', old barn, to your selves, which is so cosy and well organized. Kathleen and her husband are very nice people and supported us a lot during our stay. We highly recommend this Airbnb to all travellers :)

  • What a gem! I never thought I’d delight in sleeping in a barn. It was a barn, now converted into beautiful, airy, and spacious apartment. The host is delightful- warm, friendly and very helpful. I would stay with her again in a heartbeat. Loved the french and history themed books, the jazz CD’s, and the vegetable garden. Great location too.

  • Courtney's apartment was clean, very easy to find and the amenities were perfect. My husband and I stayed here for the weekend to attend a wedding, and the bed was so comfortable (especially since we spent the week prior tent camping in Vermont)! Even though the apartment is attached to a home, it felt very private, which we loved. We would stay here again in a heartbeat! Thanks for providing such a great space, Courtney!

  • What a great place. Clean, simple and beautiful, with everything you might need, and an intriguing design. I arrived late, and should have read Courtney's instructions better. It took me a while to figure out the entrance, but Courtney's instructions would have been the key if I had paid read them better. I had a bath in a spotless bathroom, and slept like a log, woke up so refreshed and ready to go.

  • Rosalind’s place is beautiful! The apartment was perfect, and we especially loved the luxurious king bed :) Rosalind was great. We would definitely come back!

    Britta2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • I booked Rosalind’s barn cabin for a little under a week, and my dog Brewster and I had a great stay filled with hiking and snowboarding, the dog only participating in the former. The cabin is private and the welcoming landscape accompanied the living space. Just as welcoming were Rosalind and Robert and their dogs who greeted with tails wagging. We did a few cool walks. The walk through Newfane town and up to the cemetary, through the stone wall, and around the pond was very scenic, and i’m happy i got to see all of it. We also did a hike in Townshend State Park, along the snowy trail which ran beside the creek. A sight to behold. Just above the state park there is a Jamaican food truck in the parking lot of a glass art gallery. I had some delightful jerk 🐔 there. Stratton is a great mountain resort for 🎿/🏂 and has a superb village and some of Vermont's nicest runs, at least in my somewhat limited experience. Can’t go wrong with this cabin 👌🏻

    Christopher2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Quiet, comfortable place to stay. Fully stocked kitchen for cooking, large comfortable bed and bedroom. Very much appreciate being able to bring my dog! Rosalind and her friendly dogs gave us a warm welcome when we arrived.

Cozy, airy 10x13 room in home of 60-something artist couple in safe, friendly, convenient neighborhood in Brattleboro. Comfortable double bed futon with a foam topper. Shared bathroom, kitchen, dining and living rooms. Less than a mile to downtown but also bordering woods trails. Room is on the front of the house so it gets light and minor street noise. Second floor, facing west, 3 windows. Room also has an upholstered chair, shelving, and closet space.
The house is a duplex, and we're on the left side. Our home is small, beautiful, with a relaxed tidiness, and lots of local fine craft and art. The Airbnb room is our guest room and library. It's on the second floor of the house. The bed is double-sized; the mattress is a futon with a memory foam topper, which makes it very comfortable. No pets live here, but we occasionally have dog visitors.
This is a wonderful residential neighborhood between downtown Brattleboro and Interstate 91 at exit 2. It is convenient, safe, pretty, and friendly. There are woods and trails right behind the house. There are beautiful gardens to see, and some truly unique lawn decor, by which I do NOT mean rusting cars. You've got the Lawn Sheep (note: not real sheep), the chicken sculpture, actual live chickens, giant ceramic vessels, lush gardens, and holiday light extravaganzas, all family friendly and enjoyable.
  • Teta and Steve are excellent hosts and provided a wonderful stay for me in Brattleboro. They are kind and helpful, and their house is cozy and an easy walk away from town. I would definitely recommend staying with them!

  • Teta is a warm host, responsive to communication, gave lovely and personalized recommendations, and made my time in Brattleboro very special. It’s less than a mile walk into the town of Brattleboro, which makes this a very convenient location for exploring the town on foot.

    Sharon2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Teta and Steve are wonderful, kind & helpful humans. I felt if I needed anything or had any questions they were there to answer them. I especially enjoyed the hot water on demand and the foam roller in the living room! I'd 100% recommend staying in this beautiful and artsy home.

    Marina2019-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • I got there sleepy and thought I'd lay down and maybe take a quick nap and then go out in town. The room was comfy enough that I never got back out. Would definitely stay again. Thankfully I hit the excellent Hermit Thrush brewery before stopping in and passing out, and you should too if you like sour beer. Cheers!

    Relaxing, private, picturesque
  • Amazing house, awesome host. I’ve stayed at close to two dozen AirBnBs in the past year for work travels, and this is easily one of the best. The house itself is just gorgeous. All the space you could possibly need, while still feeling homey and comfortable. The kitchen is very well stocked for cooking anything you’d like, and the living room is big, full of light, and a great place to relax. The icing on the cake for me though, was the master bedroom. The bed is incredibly comfy, the master bathroom is massive and beautiful, and the walk-in closet will give you more than enough space to store your things. The feel of the room is nothing short of luxurious. Christine herself is everything a host should be, and even left us a generous welcome package of snacks and food items in the fridge. The location is also really nice, situated off the beaten path and tucked away into the hills, but about a mile and half from the main road with gas stations, stores, food, etc. There are other people living in the connected unit that can sometimes be heard, but it was certainly not a disturbance to us (just worth mentioning in case you’re looking for total seclusion it could be an issue). All in all I would not hesitate to stay at Christine’s place again, or to recommend it to friends. If you’re looking for a place to stay in Brattleboro and are looking for a value, look no further!

    Ashley2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Christine's house is in a perfect location. 5 min from downtown with great food and a brewery. Nice and close to mount snow (40 min) for those that enjoy skiing! Great location, great house, great host!

    Nick2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Christine's place was great. If I had any questions, she would respond very quickly. She had extra supplies just in case we forgot anything. Also, left us some snacks which was a very nice touch. I would def. recommend the place to anyone staying in the area.

    David2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • My girlfriend and I stayed at Christine’s over MLK Weekend and we had an amazing stay. Christine came to pick us up at the bottom of her driveway because our car doesn’t handle any snow well and her hospitality only grew from there. She left a great gift bag full of local goodies and essentials, which was an amazing touch. Her house is also extremely up to date on modern appliances and the marble heated floors are also a great addition to her house. We’re excited to come back again in the summer!

    Jonathan2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely place! And I so appreciated the extras, the stocked fridge, which was so very helpful when visiting an unfamiliar place and you don't know where the grocery store is. I loved every minute, and really appreciated the solitude, quiet, and lovely views. Thank you! It is clear you care about your guests. I'll be back!

    Julie2020-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • We were thrilled when we arrived and the house was fully decorated for Christmas. The refrigerator was stocked with all the items needed to start your stay along with a delicious cranberry cake. Christine provided additional treats during the week. King size bed is super comfortable and the bathroom was stocked with any toiletries needed. Just a wonderful stay while we awaited the birth of our first grandchild. Time we will always cherish.

    Julie2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • Great area and amazing stay! Small details that topped it off, such as a welcome basket and a basket of small necessities. Highly recommended!

    Giovani2019-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • Christine made us feel special by leaving yummy, local treats, lots of excellent coffees and plentiful toiletries! With all of that, her home has a comfy, homey feel, so we were relaxed the entire weekend! She left all sorts of literature that directed us to fun activities and great eating establishments! After days of all that, we could cozy us with in her warm, modern family room to relax and chat about our day! Christine is a terrific host who is easy to communicate with! We definitely recommend her and her place to all!

The Nesting Box is located on the edge of the heart of Brattleboro. We are a pleasant three minute walk from Main Street. Our neighborhood is a perfect mix of family homes, commercial property, and community-focused organizations like the New England Youth Theater. We are right next door to The Whetstone Brewery's "Tap Room" due to open July 2019! and two doors down from the Cultural Intrigue Building, home of Mocha Joes and The Hatch. The Nesting Box is set back from the road, and is generally quiet and private. Our driveway is shared with the home that is in front and to the side of our home, so our neighbors are in close proximity. This is typical of many properties in New England and especially Brattleboro, but some may not be used to the closeness of other homes, which is why we mention this detail. Our neighbors are quiet and respectful people who have always been happy to answer questions or lend assistance when asked.
  • We had a great time at this charming location. Very unique space. I highly recommend!

Bright, spacious, super energy efficient. 16'Wx22'L'x19'H. Normal apartment sized kitchen, bathroom, stairs to loft. Residential neighborhood 1/2 mile walk to unique downtown Brattleboro with co-op, restaurants, hiking, rivers. Built new in 2011.
A wonderful large tiny house that we built new in 2011. It's Ideal for those interested in tiny (but not too-tiny) living. 16' by 22' and 19' high (abt. 450 sq ft of floor space) with full stairs to a loft that holds a queen bed with room for a dresser, shelves, and a full widow. Normal bathroom and shower with stacked washer/dryer. Fully-equipped kitchen with regular-sized gas cook stove/oven with hood and vent. Vaulted ceiling in main area creates a sense of spaciousness. House is super-insulated so it holds nighttime cool all day in the summer, and heats very easily with quiet Rinnai heater in winter. Shed outside with chest freezer and space for bikes and gear out of rain and snow. Small yard/garden space, crawl space storage available.
It's unique only in that it's a wonderful family neighborhood. Houses are tucked in tight with mostly quiet families with picket fences, yards and trees. Sometimes there's a bit of car noise on Pine St, but you're set back further then our main house is and it's not bad for us, except the occasional Harley. We love it because we feel safe, we know the neighbors, and we can walk to town and stores, are close to the highway, but also have a yard. Brattleboro is unique and we've got plenty of recommendations in the house manual for what do to, where to go and what to eat.

Entire 3rd floor apartment, 3-bedroom, upstairs from unique art gallery and dim sum catering service. On Route 9, downtown 2 miles, I-91 one mile; parking, secluded back yard. Apartment has its own bathroom and kitchen separate from our 2nd floor residence. No smoking on the premises and no pets please. No partying and no excessive drinking. All these house rules are not negotiable.
Third floor self-contained apartment in an 1880s Victorian building that has a first-floor art gallery and dim sum catering service, and our residence and artist studios on the 2nd floor. The apartment features three unique bedrooms total sleeping up to six, the West Room with two thick comfy twin-sized futons on the floor, wide enough for two people to sleep if desired; the North Room with a two twin-sized single beds; and the South Room with two single twin-sized Perlato rollaway beds. There are extra rollaway beds in the hall closet. West and North Room have air conditioning as needed; South Room has fans. This is a transformed attic - doesn't look like an attic any more! The only atticlike aspects are the door thresholds at 6'1" the sloping eaves in room corners and the cozy tub/shower area.
The house is in the village of West Brattleboro one mile from I-91 and two miles from downtown Brattleboro. The house is very conveniently located right on Route 9, yet there are woods and trails walking distance (5 minutes) from the house. A 10-minute walk from our building brings you to our favorite local pizza place and washers/dryers in a laundromat.
  • The apartment has 3 bedrooms with two beds each. Bedroom #1 has 2 twin beds. I'm 6'1" and fit in without my toes sticking out. Bedroom #2 had two futons that seemed to be full sized. Bedroom #3 had two twin beds that looked smaller than bedroom #1, I would recommend it for anyone 5"6' or shorter. The location was perfect for us. Less than 10 minutes to downtown where you can eat/drink at Whetstone. If you enjoy sour beers, visit Hermit Thrush. We went mainly to snowboard, and Mt. Snow is about 35 minutes away. I would recommend to any guest. Thank you Cai and Adam

  • Great space. Just as you see in the photos. Three bedrooms, a bathroom, and a kitchen. Beds comfortable, hot water, cozy space. We cooked almost all out meals with no issues. Hosts are great people!

  • Quaint old art and book filled house with a gallery and Chinese tea house on the first floor. We needed a place with three bedrooms, which proved hard to find in this area. Cai and Adam were welcoming and helpful. Highly recommend!

    Liz2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • This place was cute and cozy, exactly what we were looking for. Super clean, and everything was labeled and easy to find. I would definitely stay here again.

    Erin2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Cai & Adam's charming and unique property. Check-in was easy, parking was easy, communication with Adam was informative and fast, there were breakfast items and snacks in the refrigerator upon arrival (including fresh locally baked bread). The only thing we realized was a drawback is that there is no living room. There were 3 of us girls traveling together to visit NECCA for Circus Workshop Weekend, and we spent most of each evening sitting around the kitchen table chatting. It would have been nice to have a living area for these wonderful chats, but that was our omission during the booking process. Otherwise, everything was exactly as described and an awesome value!

    Tawnya2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • Adam and Cai are great host and always make me feel right at home. Their place has everything you need and is very welcoming and cozy. I have stayed several times for business and personal trips and never been disappointed.

Cozy efficiency apartment with loft. Daybed downstairs doubles as a couch. This apt works well as a stay-cation spot too. Sanitizing of surfaces done in between all stays. We are close to downtown Putney, which features a live music venue, an independent bookstore (roasting their own coffee!) and local food co-op. There are lots of hiking trails in Putney, as well as cross-country skiing opportunities. Close to Landmark College, the Putney School and the Greenwood School.
The apt is a separate space, suitable for two people very comfortably, three if good friends or family.

  • Gay's apartment is a very cute space that had everything we needed to enjoy a night away from home. The loft bedroom was adorable, and so was the daybed and kitchen. My boyfriend and I were very comfortable there, and I would definitely recommend it! They also left a homemade chocolate coconut bar that was gluten free and dairy free, which was completely unexpected, but amazing because I have those dietary restrictions! Overall, it was a very pleasant experience.

  • This is a lovely first floor unit with lots of privacy. The bedroom is in a second floor loft but there is also a daybed on the first floor. The kitchen had everything we needed for a comfortable stay, with many thoughtful touches to make the place more welcoming. We loved the exposed beams, comfy flannel linens and beautiful views! The sulphur content in the water is pretty high so someone with a sensitivity might be uncomfortable, but we didn't mind it. Gay was great about communicating and very responsive when we had a question. We definitely recommend this unit to anyone looking for a quiet place to stay for a few days!

The House is so beautiful and the rooms super cozy. We really enjoyed the morning cuddles with Yuri, Isabella and Skip (Dogs) and Coco (House Cat). Breakfast was super yummie and it was the best start in the day with great chats with Kim and Mike. Feeding the Alpacas was so much fun and tubing in the snow on the backyard too! It felt like home for us. We’ll definitely come back!

We had breakfast with them and a nice conversation, Mike is a good cook. We had a very good experience at their home. It is in Brattleboroug near the the Vermont Country Deli. I recommend their place and would stay again.

  • Is there a better way to experience Vermont than on a cozy, friendly farm? Experiencing it with hosts as gracious as Mike and Kim. Rooms were immaculately clean and tastefully decorated. Each was independently climate controlled, and Kim even made an extra space in a the exterior for my son. Our wayward siblings were home from college and this was a pleasant respite for all of us. Mike took us on a special tour of the alpacas and goats (kids had a blast!) and we became best friends with their Burmese cat. My daughter would also like to add that the homemade lotion in the bathroom was incredible, and that she would come back to the farm for that alone. Also a great launch pad for skiing - we went to Mount Snow while we were there. Once the kids go back to school, we plan to sneak off and stay in the tiny house next!

  • This was a great place for my family of five. We have three boys, ages 5, 9, and 11. They absolutely loved playing with Kim and Mike’s three very friendly dogs and cat and getting a chance to feed the goats and alpacas. The location is a short drive from downtown Brattleboro, a quaint little cool town with multiple bookstores, restaurants, a movie theater and more. Cross-country skiing right down the block. Mount Snow and others are less than an hour away. Very nice Vermont get-away. Place was clean, breakfast was good, and Kim was nice enough to set up a tea table by our rooms. Nice touch.

A 4-acre VT dream house nestled in the woods just North of the West River yet minutes from downtown Brattleboro. 45-60 min from the ski areas of Bromley, Stratton, Mt Snow, Magic Mtn, Okemo, & Granite Gorge. Great hiking and cross country skiing trails right outside your front door. Built in 2008 includes many modern touches but feels cozy and timeless. Lots of natural light, open space and exposed post-and-beam construction make this house great for gatherings or just getting back to nature.
5 bedrooms with 7 total beds. Bunk beds are full-sized. 1 double bed is a futon. 1800 sq ft, but the many cozy bedrooms make it great for a bunch of folks to still have some privacy. Additionally, the couch is a lazy boy that's really comfortable for sleeping on, and we have a queen air mattress as well. 1 half bath located on 1st floor and 2 full baths located on 2nd floor.
10 minutes to downtown Brattleboro, 5 minutes to I-91. 45-60 minutes to Bromley, Magic Mountain, Stratton, Mount Snow, and Granite Gorge ski areas. Great cross country skiing right from house. 15 minute trail hike to West River swimming hole. 4-acre property with large lawn surrounded by protected woodlands. 4 other houses on the dead-end street so traffic is very minimal. Road is gravel but plowed regularly and not very steep. There is one little hill where my little 2 wheel drive hatchback with no snow tires has been known to slip when it's icy, but once you get a good running start it's fine.
  • Super cute cabin. Looks beautiful in the morning when the light shines in.

    Stephanie2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great location! Description on the Airbnb was a perfect match! Wood stove kept the house warm and we enjoyed the suggestion and the challenge that almost everything can be recycled! Chris is a great communicator!

    Kerry2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • This is exactly what we had in mind when looking for a VT escape. Chris was easily reached and the space was more than comfy enough for a group of 12. This is a beautiful part of New England, and we will most certainly be back. Highly recommend!

    Benjamin2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Chris sent me check in tips days before my trip and sent me message after I arrived to check if everything is ok. I think that is very thoughtful. The house is great. He has everything you need inside. The front yard little hill is perfect for winter sledding. Kids love it. I would definitely like to return to Chris's house next winter with my family and friends again.

    Jillian2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • My wife, parents and I stayed at Chris’ pad for a four days and it served as a fantastic home base for our stay in Brattleboro. The post and beam house has plenty of space - didn’t seem cramped at all - and had plenty of room for others to stop in. The rooms were bright and comfortable and Chris was easy to connect with. The house is located a quick drive to downtown, but at the same time gives you the secluded Vermont vibe. We would recommend it to anyone who is thinking about visiting the area.

    Seth2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • The house was lovely and perfect for our large group of six humans and a dog. There was enough space for everyone to have privacy. Chris was an attentive host who made sure we had all we needed. He was quick to respond. I would definitely stay there again.

    Susan2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Chris is a great host. We got everything we wanted and more. He was avialable any time I called, and answered my question. 5 Stars.

    Karl2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Chris's place was lovely! We had a very cozy stay thanks to the wood burning stove and comfortable beds. Perfect for our annual fall weekend in Vermont

Welcome to the Culbertson House! We are located in a location that is quiet and peaceful yet close to all major thoroughfares. A wonderful park with swimming pool in the summer and a ski hill and skating rink in the winter is only steps away. We are located about a mile from downtown Brattleboro, with its offerings of fine dining, unique shopping, diverse cultural entertainment and funky nightlife. The major ski areas of Mt. Snow and Stratton are within a 40 minute drive.
The one-bedroom apartment here at Culbertson House is a cozy and comfortable place to spend a weekend or a few months. Walking into the apartment you enter a pleasant living/dining area with a full kitchen, tastefully decorated with period furniture and whimsical artwork and decor. The bedroom features a comfortable queen bed, large dresser and walk-in closet. The bathroom is newly renovated with full bath/shower. Sit on the front porch and enjoy a snowy panorama, and in nicer weather a gorgeous flower garden that wraps around the whole house. The place has a secluded, private feel but is only a mile from bustling downtown Brattleboro and only steps away from the farmers market and year-round recreation at Living Memorial Park (skiing and skating in winter, swimming, softball, tennis and hiking in summer). The owners live in the same building and are always available for whatever needs and questions you may have. Culbertson House, a great place to stay in Brattleboro!
We love the neighborhood. We are close to town yet secluded and private. Shopping, dining and diversion are only minutes away. The area is safe, quiet and conveniently.

  • Julia and David's place is convenient to downtown Brattleboro and major thoroughfares but in a woodsy neighborhood that feels private and peaceful. We enjoyed exploring the surrounds as well as relaxing in the apartment.

    Sylvia2019-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • Julie and David's home is super cute and homey. It's close to Brattleboro, which has lots of cute shops and restaurants. David was very accommodating as we were coming in quite late from Boston. He gave us great recommendations for nearby places to eat and things to do. We will definitely be staying here again.

    Kodie2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • A very nice place in a great location, with fun walks through the woods out back, which our dog really enjoyed.

    Jessica2018-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • Julia and David's apartment was cozy, comfortable, and just what we needed for our stay over the long weekend. It was the perfect location for adventuring -- the Brattleboro Farmers Market is one of a kind and within walking distance, and a short drive to delicious eats and beautiful hiking/park. Julia was very helpful and was available on site when we checked in -- she said some great recommendations of dining around the area. Thanks again!

    Diana2018-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • I had a lovely stay at this homey little spot in West Brattleboro. I was traveling for work and didn’t get a chance to spend much time in the place enjoying the convenient amenities like a full kitchen but it was quite cozy. I would have been slightly more comfortable with a more private curtain in the bedroom window as it did overlook the owner’s garden but I improvised as needed! Haha! I was right off of the highway with immediate access to restaurants and shopping either an exit north or south of the apartment. There was a bit of an odor to the place that resembled that of an old RV, but I melted into the bed so fast (it was very cozy!) that I forgot about it almost instantly. Julia was a great host and even offered me some medicine and other remedy suggestions when I fell ill with what appeared to have been food poisoning before I had to work an event. If I am back in the area I would definitely stay here again. Thanks, Julia!

    Jason2018-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • The house was exactly what I expected based on the description and photos. It's homey rather than fancy, perfectly comfortable, and I could easily see myself staying there for weeks instead of just a few days

    M.K.2018-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Julia and David are the greatest hosts, making the entire reservation process effortless & making you feel so welcome and at home. This apartment ( I am actually staying in the suite) is so sweet & perfect for the majestic wilderness that surrounds you right outside your window/door. They have everything in here to make me feel right at home, hot chocolate, tea, coffee. There's nothing missing, linens, towels, kitchen items. Just a wonderful, peaceful home/surrounding. Would return, any time I return to the area.

    Tom2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • The old converted barn was beautiful. It is located in peaceful woods right next to hiking trails but still close enough to towns for dining and shopping. It had a great old feel while still feeling perfectly clean.

    Dylan2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect place for a quiet retreat. Everything works- everything you need is there and it is quiet and peaceful. No need for ear-plugs. Pleasant space that is cozy and comfortable. I was there mostly to rest and recover - the quiet and the great walks just outside the front door made this stay ideal. Brianna was helpful and welcoming.

    Suzanne2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • This place is exactly as described. Incredibly clean and super cozy with some thoughtful touches from the host. My boyfriend and I stayed here for a weekend of skiing and the apartment was truly a snag. Brianna recommended a number of restaurants to us, was very welcoming, and quick with responses to any questions. Highly recommend this spot, I really can’t say enough good things about it!

    Meghan2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Brianna has a wonderful place in a peaceful setting. The room is spacious and clean and plenty of extras (blankets, towels, chocolates❤️). I appreciated the thoughtful touch with the homemade granola- delicious. Great Value!

    Adrienne2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Briannas place was just what we needed to get away from the city. It was hard looking for something affordable without compromising comfort and style but we found it at Briannas fabulous barn! The space was clean and well equipped for a family of four and Brianna was super fast at responding to all our inquiries. The location was also close to all we wanted to do and she provided nice little touches like yogurt, granola, chocolate and coffee which we all gobbled up! We really enjoyed our stay and we hope to be back soon!

"The womb" is a quiet retreat with radiant-heat floor, memory-foam-covered futon & private bathroom. When available, add a 2-hr mind-body-spirit healing session to your stay. Outside your door, hike trails to the Retreat tower & ski jump; across the road, swim, kayak/canoe or ice skate on the West River. Walk to downtown Brattleboro, a very hip place to visit ;) or drive to Mt Snow to ski (~40 min) or MASS MoCa to experience interactive art (~1hr). Enjoy your solo or duo adventure!
"The womb" is equipped with self-help tools and space to create, express and rest. Your private bathroom includes a tile shower and floor-situated heater, and a designated electrical outlet for your hair dryer (please ask!). Your kitchenette includes a mini-fridge & microwave. You're welcome to use (our) full-kitchen upstairs! There's a notebook available in your room, full of helpful information about what's in the room, the house, and the community. If you can't find answers to your questions there, don't hesitate to ask Ami via face-to-face contact, phone, or text :). Please note: the bed is against a wall and full-sized; it may be small and cumbersome to get in and out of for some couples, especially for the person on the wall/window-side who will most likely climb over the other for a midnight bathroom run!
Our immediate neighbors have small children and they are active around the house :). The neighborhood is respectful, and generally friendly and active :). Our driveway is a right-of-way into the Retreat woods, where people walk, run, bicycle, cross-country ski, and walk dogs.
  • My daughter and I enjoyed a ski weekend at Mount Snow, staying in Ami’s room 2. 22 -23.2020. It worked out perfectly. Ami is a warm and charming host. I highly recommend Ami’s pad.

  • Ami is a very welcoming and generous host! We enjoyed our time in her beautiful, peaceful space and appreciated her kindness, thoughtful touches and local recommendations.

    Kathryn2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • "The womb" is a lovely room with a private entrance. Appropriately named, the womb feels safe and calm with lighting that can be adjusted, a salt lamp, and rose quartz crystals to foster love and acceptance. The bed was comfortable for one but would be cozy for two. The private bath was well stocked and clean. Ami is an exceptional host. She greeted me upon arrival and checked in often to make sure everything was perfect. I would love to come back and stay in this place when I next travel to Brattleboro.

  • Fun location in the woods of Vermont. A local artist with amazing talent that you can see her artwork in town! Bright light in the space. Comfortable to relax and comfortable bed to sleep. Clean and very thoughtful for snacks and coffee. Even allowed me to check in early to enjoy my stay longer. Excellent experience.

    Michelle2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • Brianna's place is stylish and comfortable. It's just what I was hoping for with a secluded location surrounded by nature but still a short drive to town. She left coffee, delicious granola, yogurt, and chocolate--what a treat! Check-in couldn't have been easier. Since she lives in a different building on the same property, she is nearby if you need something (and very responsive to messages), but also lets you have your privacy. On note is that because the setting is a bit off the beaten path, some of the roads leading to the house are unpaved. It may not be necessary, but I was glad to have a vehicle with four wheel drive.

    Grace2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved staying at Brianna’s farm retreat. The space is a gorgeous quaint barn which has such a homey style and farmhouse feel inside. We loved the granola and coffee/tea left for us and the property was beautiful. Beds were comfy and the kitchen was the best I’ve stayed in for an Airbnb! Everything was clean and directions well communicated. She was very helpful and apologetic with an issue with the hot water which was being fixed during our stay, and it didn’t end up being much of an issue anyway as the hot water was still largely working. We would love to stay here again for another peaceful weekend getaway!

    Emma2020-03-08T00:00:00Z

    Jason2020-02-28T00:00:00Z

This is a second floor apartment in a 100 year old home 1.5 miles from downtown Brattleboro. 3 rooms, plus a small kitchen and private bathroom. Hosts live on the first floor, but you will have a separate entrance. Easy parking for one car. Large backyard.
It's a charming, 100+ year old house. The walls are lined with art, many of which are original children's book illustrations. There are three rooms, which can be used as 2 bedrooms plus a living room, or as 3 bedrooms, or as a bedroom, a study and a living room, how ever best suits your needs. There is a small kitchen with a small table for two . There is a dining room table in one of the other rooms. There is a new queen sized mattress in the main bedroom. The other two rooms each have single beds that double as sofas.
We are walking distance from Living Memorial Park and The Brattleboro Farmers' Market (Saturdays during the warm months). Close to hiking, biking, snow shoe, and cross country ski trails. We have 2 kayaks moored on the West River, 2.5 miles away, that you are welcome to use. We are 1.5 miles from Downtown Brattleboro, 45 minutes from Mount Snow, 55 minutes from Stratton, 25 minutes from Keene, NH. We live on a busy thoroughfare, so when it snows we are among the first streets plowed, but the downside is that you can hear cars going by.
  • John and Kathie's home was the perfect respite during a busy family Thanksgiving weekend in Brattleboro. They were responsive and kind, and the place was so cute, clean, and comfortable. There are several great sleeping spots--my partner and I only used the main bedroom for sleeping, but the bed there was so comfortable and the dark curtains allowed us to sleep in. We used the kitchen to make some simple meals while we were there as well. While the house is on a pretty busy street, John and Kathie left us a very easy parking spot right in front of the house, which was very convenient. There are many charming touches in the house, lovely art, and we felt so cozy there. The house is well-located and it's very easy to get to downtown Brattleboro. One thing to note is that while there's plenty of space in the general bathroom area, it is quite narrow in the nook where the toilet is located and might be difficult to access for bigger people. We'd love to come back and stay again! Thanks, John and Kathie!

    Alison2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • John's place was perfect for our stay in Brattleboro. There was plenty of space with multiple rooms...nice to be able to spread out. The space has a nice older look though was perfectly functional and well-equipped. John and Kathie were great hosts and were very responsive to questions and providing with information. I would certainly consider staying here again if/when I return to Brattleboro.

  • Great place, exactly as described. Has everything you need. Clean, cosy and child friendly. John and Kathie really are super hosts.

  • John and Kathie were incredibly thoughtful hosts, with sweet touches such as fresh flowers, coffee pods, extra blankets and towels, etc. The apartment was exactly as advertised, which is a great deal, and the location was perfect. A very cosy, homey place for our week stay.

  • John and Kathie were great hosts. Their place is in a great location, about 4 minutes from downtown Brattleboro. Cozy, charming and sparkling clean, we couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay for a weekend away. Highly recommend!

    Jamie2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Loved our weekend at John and Kathie's place! Charming apartment with a lot of nice touches; we especially appreciated the shampoo since we forgot ours. Kathie greeted us warmly and recommended a Puppet Festival nearby which was a great family day with our one year old. We didn't have a chance to meet John but we loved looking his beautiful illustrations hanging on the walls and our daughter really enjoyed the bedtime stories left by the hosts. We will definitely be back if we return to Brattleboro!

    Amanda2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • Such a great location from which to explore Brattleboro! A mere .3 mile walk to the awesome Farmer’s Market and just a little further to the Vermont Country Deli. The space was large, comfy and clean and equipped with all you would need for a short or longer term stay. Being from Texas, I enjoyed sitting on the covered front porch every morning wrapped in a blanket! I had a nice visit with Kathie when I arrived and she was able to give me plenty of tips on what to do in the area. I absolutely loved this part of Vermont and will definitely stay again in the future.

Picturesque 1 room screened-in cabin on Blue Heron Pond in 13 acres of woods in Brattleboro, Vt. Just 3 miles from downtown. The cabin (100 sq ft) has electricity. Modern composting toilet out-house. Quiet sanctuary to create, dream, read, sleep, walk the woods. Comfy queen size thick foam mattress with a bed topper. All the fun of camping but comforts of home already provided. The cabin is a short 3 minute walk down a hill, from your parking place to the pond and cabin.
Blue Heron Pond - Is the inspiration for the books of poems - "Vermont My Home on Blue Heron Pond" and "Celebrate Life" by Namaya the poet - host. This is a wonderful space to create, dream, relax, and wonder. A nice combination of a Thoreauian experience with modern conveniences. WiFi at main house's porch, (or use your phone's mobile hot spot). Cooking amenities includes a microwave, coffee maker, electric kettle and heavy duty ice chest. Outdoor gas grill and an open fire pit. The cabin is not heated, but there is an electric blanket. Bathe in pond or shower at main house.
We are just 1.5 miles from an historic covered bridge on 13 acres surrounded by undeveloped woodland and friendly neighbors. There are so many things to do... hiking, tennis, biking, running, walking in the woods, and just savoring the beauty of Southern Vermont! Lots of restaurants, microbreweries, shopping and live music all minutes away.
  • Super helpful and proactive host Zoe / Namaya and their friend Heather! My opinions: Gets super dark at night, get used to frogs and cricket making noise all night, mornings are very pretty which makes it all worth it especially dewy mornings! A true cabin experience in the forest yet close to downtown, let me just say this - I will come again!!

  • I took my two daughters, ages 4&10. Our hosts were so welcoming and friendly, offering excellent suggestions for activities to do on the property as well as in town! We loved swimming at the dam at the Green River Covered Bridge and seeing the petting zoo at the Grafton Cheese Co! The weather was perfect, hot during the day, cool relief at night, perfect for cozying up to the fire and under blankets for stories. The girls had the time of their lives playing on the dock, catching frogs, making mud pies, taking the canoe around the pond... and they even came across the elusive Blue Heron on our last morning. The accommodations were exactly as described - the bed was luxuriously comfortable. The cooler kept our ice frozen the entire time and the grill and fire pit worked out perfectly. As a former Girl Scout, I was very impressed by the composting toilet - a far cry from the latrines from my youth. Everything was explained thoroughly and both hosts were very gracious and always available to answer questions, offer advice, and we were even lucky to see Namaya’s gorgeous art studio before leaving. I could go on... thank you for a great stay!

  • We loved staying in the cabin at Blue Heron Pond. The space was magical and one of our favorite stops during our road trip. Zoe and Namaya were wonderful hosts who went above and beyond to make our stay pleasant. We would definitely stay here again.

  • Zoe was so attentive and easy to reach, even though she was out of town! And so incredibly gracious to give us access to her actual home in order to shower after a long hike. The cabin was beautiful (and the bed was insanely comfortable!) All in all, a great experience, full of beautiful nature sounds, peace and quiet, and easy access to beautiful Brattleboro.

  • This little cabin was just what I needed to break away from the busy NYC life. It's quiet and private, yet not too secluded as their house is overlooking part of the pond. It's truly beautiful and was a great experience. The bed was comfy, great amenities with a composting toilet, well water and a sink to drink from, etc. Zoe and Namaya were GREAT hosts, always making sure I was taken care of! Namaya even brought me two bags of ice on his own accord for the cooler as I didn't have enough and I didn't have to go out and get it. The bullfrogs are LOUD, so bring earplugs but I got used to it and slept very cozy. Hope to be back soon! Thanks again!

  • A fantastic stay in the woods. An ideal bookend after staying in NYC for 4 months. The friendliest hosts around! Zoé and Namaya are the best. I had many a nice chat, and they had great recommendations for Brattleboro itself, which is just a short bikeride away. There's a pond for you to swim (or just float) in, which was a godsend in the summer heat. Not too deep, a couple of feet at its deepest I would say. There are small fish, which nibble at your feet - spa-like! The local wildlife gets a bit loud at night, but I found it to be a sweet lullaby. This could be classified as clamping. There's an outdoor shower, which was fine for me, but they also have a warm indoor shower at their house. I wish I could stay there for ages! Thanks for having me! Till next time ( and I must ensure there will be a time! )

  • Blue Heron Pond is a little piece of heaven... staying in Zoe and Namaya's cabin is like camping with a very comfortable bed... sleeping outdoors while completely protected from insects and the elements... We spent a blissful evening paddling around the surprisingly mosquito-free pond, communing with the water bugs, dragonflies, frogs, and resident muskrat... and after dark we were serenaded by a chorus of green frogs, which sounded like the plucking of banjo strings... on the Saturday morning we were there we walked about half an hour down to the fabulous Brattleboro Farmers Market... I recommend Blue Heron Pond to anyone looking for a quiet getaway close to a fun and vibrant small town...
