Places to stay in Brandon
Tastefully renovated older mobile home, very clean and bright! Outside yard with gas grill and fire pit, wood included. Pet friendly with enclosed outside area for small/medium dogs right off the back porch. Washer/Dryer and fully stocked kitchen.
We purchased this older mobile home from a dear long time neighbor, hence the name, and renovated it in 2015. We did all the work ourselves so while not a professional remodel we are quite proud of it! It is a great place to kick back and relax and we think it is very comfortable. It has three bedrooms and the master has a memory foam queen mattress bed. The two smaller bedrooms have smaller single beds that are still quite comfortable. One of the smaller bedrooms also has a computer desk with an office chair and power/USB charging ports. High speed Wi-Fi is included with a Smart TV with excellent sound. There is no cable or broadcast TV although there is Netflix, etc. through the Smart TV and an Apple TV and a Chromecast for use. Decently stocked kitchen and feel free to use anything in the cupboards/frig for your meals/cooking, Keurig coffee maker.
Smaller street in a residential neighborhood that is a 5 minute walk to downtown Brandon. There you can enjoy food offerings ranging from pizza to French cuisine, a downtown pub, or a pastry at a great French bakery. The Green Mountain National Forest, Brandon Gap and the Long Trail are less than ten miles away.
  • Lovely hosts and a great location to do some exploring around Vermont!

  • We had such a wonderful time on our trip this house was a delight. Incredibly clean, the hosts added thoughtful touches and we’re quick at responding. Would 100% stay again!

  • Awesome host! We enjoyed our stay and would recommend Tom and Alisa’s place if you’re in the area.

    Patricia2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • We only stayed one night for a more business-oriented trip, but this WAS a cute hideaway and would have been fun to stay and enjoy Brandon, the cute backyard, etc. Alas, it was winter, but we had a very cozy night of restful sleep in a clean place complete with thoughtful local baked goods. Would stay again! Also, places to eat and shop are available, but we opted to travel 25 min to the Shoreham Inn and Pub for dinner and it was worth it :-)

    Jennifer2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Wow what a great stop, wish I could have stayed another night. The place was really close to town and near anything you need. Everything was clean and the beds were comfy. Couldn’t ask for anything more.

    Michael2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • We had an extended stay at Tom’s place and we couldn’t have been more comfortable. Spacious, warm, and with a useful outdoor area for a pet. Perfect proximity to Brandon town as well getting north or south on the main highway. Tom was quick to answer any questions. Would stay again next time we are in Vermont without a doubt.

Beauty meets function in this gem of a hideaway. Designed for comfort, visual as well as tactile, this charming home is perfect for a romantic escape or solo retreat. Filled with the work of local artists and lovingly restored, enjoy this revitalized 1920 cottage with all modern amenities. Located on a quiet forested hill, yet it's a five minute walk to downtown Brandon.
Basically brand new. Quirky yet classic. Comfortable space to relax, sleep late under the down comforter, have coffee on the sun porch. (The space was created with adults in mind; not appropriate for young children/ babies.) Lots of artwork and a calm color palette creates a feeling of relaxed luxury. Sofa has a queen pull out with gel foam mattress. Fully equipped kitchen . Guest bathroom has a shower. Open concept living/dining area. Flat screen Smart TV, wi-fi, DVD player and Bluetooth. Books, magazines and games. Sliders lead to a small deck.(During the warmer months, hammock and Adirondack chairs/table available.) Also available is a window unit air conditioner which we are happy to install on request. Presently there is a powerful Dyson fan with remote.
Residential and walkable to downtown. A mix of educators, law enforcement and families on our street. The area was once known as the Brandon Highlands. Out the door and to the right walk down the hill. You will pass a park on your left. Keep walking and you are in the downtown core. There are many shops : don't miss the Home store located upstairs over the bakery. Worth the climb after a delicious sticky bun. The bakery doubles as our wine store; many local cheeses too. Stop by Carr's Gifts: too many wonderful items to choose from. And most certainly visit the Brandon Artists Guild. Cafe Provence is next door-a must for lunch or dinner. Maes is great for breakfast: pancakes are a winner. Hannafords grocery store is downtown and if in Middlebury, the Co-op is open to all and has more of a Whole Foods vibe. Beer lovers will enjoy Red Clover Ale where you can BYOF-(food) a five minute stroll from the house. Some Saturday nights the owner of Sister Wicked Clothing Store hosts open mic shows from 8 till late. It's BYOB-(beverages) and a great way to feel like a local. You'll drive or walk right by en route to the house.
  • The little house was truly amazing. The host has thought of everything. This is such a charming and comfortable home. Will definitely return.

    Chris2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This is a charming little home with everything you could need. From bath sheets to appliances to music CDs, I highly recommend Karrie’s taste in decorating and attention to detail. Check in and out were easy and the whole experience was a vacation.

    Martha2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Kerrie and Russ’s place is like a little oasis, with thoughtful touches throughout that makes it feel much more like a nice home than a rental. It was a bigger space than we had expected (and completely spotless), and fit 4 of us adults comfortably. Our friend remarked that the pullout couch was the most comfortable one she’d ever slept on. Even with the subzero temps we were toasty inside, and had a great time cooking in the very well-stocked kitchen. Thank you Kerrie & Russ for your hospitality!

    Justine2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Everything you see & read about The Little House in Vermont is true. It is one of the finest Airbnb’s we have ever visited.

    Mary Susan2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • The Little House was awesome for our stay. Clean, stylish, updated and in a great location. We’ll defiantly stay again next time we are in the area.

    Roy2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Kerries place is a gem in the Vermont area. Her organization, her cleanliness, the decoration, everything was above and beyond anything we could have thought of. We will be back because of this home. Specifically, this home made the trip for us.

    Chris2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • The Little House is a perfect retreat. It is very comfortable and all the little touches are greatly appreciated. Kerrie thinks of everything!

    John2019-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • The Little House is just perfect. It’s very comfortable, well equipped and well located. We couldn’t have wished for anything better! The town is within walking distance, yet the house is lovely and quiet. Kerrie made us feel very welcome. Our only problem was that our stay was too short!! I would highly recommend The Little House.

    Virat2019-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • These cabins were very cozy and just what we needed for a weekend getaway. The hosts were very attentive and friendly.

    Heather2019-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • This place is only going to get better and better. The cabins were getting fresh paint while we were leaving and new roofs were next on the list. I look forward to returning and seeing the changes. We loved our stay

    Justin2019-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • Quaint wooden cottages on a vineyard setting give visitors a taste of a by-gone time, while still having access to mod-cons. WiFi wasn’t available in the cabins but there was a full 4g signal and WiFi in the main building. Lovely evenings looking up at a vast clear sky free of any light pollution. Free wine tastings offering some truly interesting wines which can be purchased on site. The hosts are very hospital and our kids had a ball swimming and playing games!

    Niall2018-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy little cabins in a rustic setting. Calm and quiet.

    Phillip2018-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • Super cute cabins. Very clean and quaint, located on a lovely property. The pool looked very inviting, however it was a rainy weekend. We were allowed early check-in and late check-out. Would love to go back for some wine tasting and the Vermont fall offerings. Bonus++ pets are welcome!

Located at the junction of the Green Mountains and the Champlain Valley, this quiet space sits on 70 forested acres. A quick drive to Brandon, Middlebury College, Lake Dunmore, and the Green Mountain National Forest, this is the perfect home base. Enjoy nature in this secluded space and discover what Addison County has to offer from an easy to access location. Explore nearby lakes and plenty of trails, and events and culture are just down the road.
Spring and summer in Vermont are truly glorious. The cabin was built as a hunting camp by a logging firm that harvested timber here. We have built our home on the property and updated the cabin with plenty of amenities. The cabin is a nice balance of rustic, cozy, and comfortable, and we take pride in the beauty of this place.
Plenty to do nearby! Rutland and Middlebury Farmers' Markets, Wood's Garden Market, Champlain and Douglas Orchards, Falls of Lana, Silver Lake, Branbury State Park, Goshen Dam, shops and restaurants in Middlebury and Brandon, Rutland's Paramount Theater, Cattails Restaurant, Texas Falls, Route 100 Scenic Highway, Mount Independence Historic Site and Fort Ticonderoga, rivers and mountains galore! Still a working forest, the property is home to a plethora of wildlife, hosting two beaver dams and a designated deer wintering area. There are some trails here on the property, and plenty of outdoor space for you to enjoy. Enjoy colorful sunsets as herons, ducks, and geese fly in for the evening, or spend the evening out in the cultural centers of Brandon or Middlebury. Bring, rent or borrow a boat and spend the day at nearby Lake Dunmore, Fern Lake, or Sugar Hill Reservoir; make the stunning 1 hour drive up to Burlington for the day for cool shops and great restaurants; or pick fresh Vermont fruits and berries with views of Lake Champlain. The Moosalamoo Recreation area is right in our backyard. There is so much to do around here, you may not want to leave!
  • We had the most wonderful time at the cabin! Mark and Catie are fantastic hosts who gave us really great directions for finding them, which we did easily. The location is incredibly peaceful, and we loved seeing the chickens outside the cabin! The cabin is so cosy and sparkling clean, the beds were super comfortable and the kitchen had all the facilities we needed to cook a lovely dinner. The fireplace made the cabin very warm and relaxing too. We really enjoyed the fresh eggs for breakfast, and the maple syrup left in the kitchen for us was delicious. I couldn’t rate our stay more highly - I would return in a heartbeat!

    Anna2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was cozy and clean and near a lot of great hiking trails. The hosts left plenty of information about stuff to do locally and were very helpful!

    Hayley2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • This is the perfect cabin in the woods. It was our first time using the grill and we had no idea what we were doing, but our lovely hosts helped us get the fire going. Chicken came out great btw. Beautiful clean kitchen, spotless bathroom, trendy and homey feeling. The bed was soooo comfortable. Super clean, super private and quiet. Best sleep we've had in a LONG time. They also provided us with a list of places to see and do nearby. Loved this place, will come back!

    Tania2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommend. Mark and Catie are exceptional hosts and quick to respond. My friends and I had a wonderful time staying at the cabin during our ski trip. The fresh eggs and nice touches within the cabin were fantastic. We can’t wait to visit again soon. Must stay cabin!

  • Our second stay and it was just as great as the first time! This time we had time to walk the trails and visit Mark in his sugarhouse. The thoughtful touches such as the eggs and syrup were much appreciated. We can’t wait to plan our next getaway!

  • Linda was exceptionally gracious and provides a beautiful loft in the heart of Brandon. Highly recommend.

    Randall2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • The space was beautiful and spacious. We went to Brandon for a wedding at the Brandon Inn and the red barn loft was only a 2 minute walk away from the inn. The host Linda was super hospitable and responded quickly to our messages. My wife and I really loved the small touches she added such as giving us a small bottle of Vermont maple syrup and some cookies, which made our stay here even more special. The place itself was clean and cozy. We would strongly recommend anyone to stay here if they're in Brandon.

    Janice2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Cyndy and Kirk’s charming house is the perfect stay. The house is in a great location for winter activities and skiing, the comfort and charm of the house was magical surrounded by snow in winter and communication was so smooth in every instance. I would stay here again in a heart beat in winter or summer.

    Lydia2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • super comfortable and clean house that was an enjoyable stay for me and my friends. The kitchen was well equipped which was a plus for us cooking for the whole team.

    Brandino2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Kirk and Cyndy’s place was absolutely adorable. They were 40 minutes from the mountain we went snowboarding at, but the drive was worth it for the value of the house and the hospitality of Kirk and Cyndy. A slight mishap took place and Kirk and Cyndy were beyond accommodating, responsive, and kind about it. I am so appreciative of how they handled everything during our stay. When I return to Vermont, I will gladly stay at their place again, if they would have me.

    Devan2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • All-in-all, a really great spot for a family trip! The hosts were friendly and super responsive and their home was cozy and neat and provided the perfect “home base” for us. We especially adored the den space with all the windows and comfy couches. Perfect while making meals to keep tabs on the kids and have a pretty view of the snow and trees. Easy drive into Brandon’s charming town center and to neighboring villages / ski ranges. Little details like a deep variety of K-cups, fresh cut greens, luggage stands and shampoo/conditioner/shower gel dispensers were nice, too! (Bonus: Visit Ed at Maple View Alpaca Farm, too for a great up close and personal intro with 20+ friendly alpacas!)

    Lindsay2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing house in an locations with plenty of amenities!

    Anton2020-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • Outstanding. There was not a single thing that could have made this stay better. We were close to Rikert Nordic ski area and also Middlebury Snow bowl alpine ski area. Between that and Pico/Killington, we went just up the road to The Long Trail and hiked to the Brandon Cliffs. We couldn’t decide where to eat so we went to Indian in Middlebury, and French just down the hill (downtown Brandon) and then Italian in Middlebury. For breakfast, some fresh croissants from the bakery right downtown. And the bakery also stocks all types of gourmet items as well. While at the house, Cindy and Kirk planned for our every need in advance. I have been going to Vermont for more than 50 years and this is the very real Vermont experience.

  • The cottage is so cozy and well laid, each room with its own character and charm. We loved curling up next to the fire, playing games, and enjoying the local foods we found at the Middlebury Co-op. The highlight was meeting the llamas, an absolute must! Great visit all around - we are eager to return!

    Kelly2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had an incredible time here and can’t recommend it highly enough. The location is perfect for anyone looking to do a bit of skiing, hiking, walking etc. but it’s also perfect for those just looking for a wonderful quiet place to retreat to. We spent our time skiing and hiking, lighting a fire in the evenings and just enjoying the peace and quiet. There are many places to eat nearby if you don’t fancy cooking too much (though we chose to make use of the kitchen, which has everything you could need). We loved seeing the chickens wander past, and thoroughly enjoyed their fresh eggs for our breakfasts. Lesley was a generous and wonderful host and we felt completely at home away from home. We’ll be back!

  • We had an amazing time walking in the woods with the llamas. They were incredibly friendly! We loved meeting Badger, the English Shepard as well. The beds were comfortable and the living area was perfectly equipped with plenty of games for the evening. We couldn’t have had a better getaway from NYC.

Having traveled many times in my life, I have found that as a traveler, the best thing is a warm bed with a nice walk in shower at a price that doesn't break your wallet. I offer a nice clean room at a budget price. I live on premise, I am retired and spend most of time biking, kayaking, and walking on the beach, all when mother nature complies. My partner is a musician, so we spend alot of time on the road and are away most evenings. This is a quiet, clean room and very budget friendly
Quiet neighborhood in a Co-op Park--parking on premises, large walk in shower, WiFi, washer and dryer available, Kitchen is available for use, microwave and refrigidirator available for use, flexible check in time from 1pm to midnight, check out 11am. Same day bookings will not be refunded
easy access to route 7 .....in quiet co-op park
  • When we woke up in the morning our host was sitting quietly in the dark on his laptop, he waited to make any noise until we woke. When I came out of the bathroom he turned the TV on, and I thought it was so kind that he waited.

This small town getaway is within walking distance to good food, shopping, galleries and antiques. Also boasts great proximity to Green Mountains for hiking, biking, skiing, and is close to both Middlebury and Killington. The house itself was built during the 1930s and has much Depression Era charm. Kitchen, living and dining rooms, bath and master bedroom are on the main floor, as is a wonderful 3 season screen porch (our favorite place in the house). Two small but sweet bedrooms upstairs.
This is a four season home, with a three season screened in porch which runs the length of the back of the house. There is both washer and dryer, and an old fashioned clothes line accessible from the porch. Our kitchen is fully equipped. There is no dishwasher. The downstairs bedroom has one queen size bed. There are two upstairs bedrooms, one with two twin beds, the other with a full size bed. Upstairs doorways are low so you may have to duck your head.
The house is located in a quiet neighborhood setting, just a 5 minute walk from downtown Brandon, where you can enjoy food offerings ranging from pizza to French cuisine, a local brew at the downtown pub, or a pastry and a cappuccino. The Green Mountain National Forest, Brandon Gap and the Long Trail are less than eight miles away.
  • This three bedroom house was a lovely home base for our trip skiing at Killington (about a 40 min drive). So many details of the house are original, but very well maintained and clean. The kitchen is quirky, but well stocked with everything we needed for cooking. Having the master bedroom downstairs and two smaller rooms upstairs was perfect for us and our two children. Note: this house doesn't have at TV, at least not one we could see. We absolutely loved the opportunity to sit on the couch, talk, read, and rest instead. But if you are a big TV person plan accordingly. The little town is adorable and the house has a nice enclosed sun porch and backyard so I'm sure this house would be lovely to visit in the summer as well. We hope to be back!

  • Pat’s place was great! Three of us stayed here for a weekend ski trip at Killington. The place was cozy and clean. Only one bathroom, which might be issues for larger parties, but we had no issues. We would definitely stay there again!

  • Pat’s place was lovely—very quiet and relaxing. It was very spacious for our group of 6, including two toddlers and two grandparents. The house is a very short walk from Brandon’s downtown and less than a thirty minute drive to Middlebury, which is where we were ultimately headed. Pat was also accommodating to our one year old and provided a pack n play, which is always helpful! We loved our stay. Thank you!

    Kristin & McCallum2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • We can recommend Pat’s place with 100% confidence. The house is gorgeous & super clean. Everything you need is there. Pat is super accommodating (& dealt with our ever changing plans like a pro & with ease). Our only regret is we couldn’t stay longer & we can’t wait to go back! Do not hesitate a moment to stay at Pat’s place.

  • What the pictures don't show you is the big, beautiful back yard you can enjoy. Definitely should be a selling point in the listing. This is a nice, big house centrally located to Brandon and all that little town has to offer. You won't regret staying here.

Beautiful Lake Front Studio on Lake Dunmore! A wonderful place for any season. Swim, kayak, hike, bike, play in the water in any way, fish, relax. Nordic & Alpine skiing in the winter, ice fishing etc. Studio with full kitchen, full bathroom with tub shower. 15-20 minutes from Middlebury College. Great MTN or road bike areas nearby. Many other water activities and sports are available on the lake. Walkout basement to large screen porch & stairs to the lake. You must love animals to book!
The Green Mountain National Forrest hosts beautiful hiking trails minutes away. Paddle, swim, fish, relax or do other awesome activities on the lake or right here at the house and dock! Our south cove gets less traffic than the main lake so water tends to be calmer with less traffic for great swimming and snorkeling. This is a new space. It is also year-round with heat. Although technically this cozy quaint studio is the lower basement level of the house, there is plenty of light with glass french doors and full windows which in open to a spacious screen porch. The screen porch is one of the best additions to the property and has a wonderful sectional couch, table and chairs. Enjoy lake view while dining on the screen porch. Our lake also hosts the VT. Sun Triathlon Series; suitable for any level of athlete. (I did my first one with a team and we decided to do it the night before! Now I do them by myself. They offer sprint and Olympic distances. Well equipped kitchen with microwave, small oven, refrigerator, plenty of cabinets, WiFi plug in to charge phones, a small TV, and a beautiful screen porch. Dock on the water down the stairs. Private entrance for summer and maybe optional in winter. Our summer climate needs no AC. Other fans are available. YOU MUST LOVE ANIMALS! My three cats are outdoor cats. Also if you book in the winter YOU NEED SNOW TIRES. This is VT remember, so if you are coming from the south and do not know how to drive in the snow you could have problems.
Close knit community respectful of others and we expect the same for guests.
  • If you're looking for a cozy getaway from city life on a beautiful lake this is your place! Be it winter, spring, summer or fall this is the place to be.

  • Loved te porch and the lake. Sandy is a great host.

    Tim2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Extremely kind and thoughtful host. Sandra responded quickly to all questions and was very considerate in ensuring that the rental was what I was looking for and needed. Very clean apartment and beautiful view right on the lake. Laid back environment that was absolutely perfect for our vacation. I understand that Sandra is continuing to renovate the space, adding some finishing touches, and I'm sure that future visitors will also be even happier with their stays. Be aware that the apartment is attached to /shares a floor with the house and sounds can travel between the spaces (Sandra's family was very quiet and considerate and we were not in any way disturbed--but my mother had a cough/sneeze from routine pollen allergies and we worried that we might bother them!). Highly recommend to others looking for a relaxing NH getaway.

The Stable is a newly renovated space in our main barn, which has been used to facilitate educational programming for the last seventeen years. Spacious (32'x16') and bright, the Stable is like staying in a hotel room on a farm. We are only a mile and a half from major Route 7, twenty miles north of Rutland, twelve miles south of Middlebury and an hour south of Burlington. Lake Dunmore is nearby, Bomoseen and Champlain each a half hour away.
There are no animals housed in the main barn, which was renovated 18 years ago with a woodshop and a large kitchen for education. The farm surroundings include pasture, hay fields, overgrown Christmas trees, woods and quite often wildlife such as turkeys and deer. Our farm also includes walking trails through the woodlot, a pond, a roaming brook and a large garden. Foxcroft Farm is the home of Ken and Anne Young. We purchased 30 acres of land in 1985, and over the years added a barn, another barn, a house and several outbuildings. We raised our family, ran a small dairy, drove school bus, provided foster care, operated a nonprofit educational program and are now semi-retired. Anne is currently working at the local high school and Ken has been keeping the farm maintained. We have been helping to build our tall cabin and renovate a space in our main barn(formerly used for educational program)to facilitate hosting for farm stays. We have been sharing this special place with the local community for seventeen years and now want to make it available for a broader community.
The road is a dirt road, as is the driveway to the barn, which is 300' from the road.
  • Anne is very nice and thoughtful. We stayed here due to late planning on trying to ski in Killington and therefore had to expand our search for outlying areas to stay in. One day after we came back to rest, she greeted us with homemade cookies and muffins, and they were delicious. Communication was very smooth and the space itself is very clean with efficient heating in -7 degree weather.

    Alvin2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Anne was a lovely host and the Stable was a perfect weekend stay in the Green Mountains!

  • We loved this place ! It is in a beautiful setting in Vermont's Champlain Valley. We loved our walks on the country road and the peacefulness of the farm. It's location is great, close to Middlebury and Brandon. Both communities have great restaurants and breweries. Anne is a great host and she was made us feel welcomed. We definitely want to visit again !

  • You will not regret staying here. Anne is a great host, the quarters are clean and spacious, not to mention the peaceful, quiet, and beautiful setting.

  • Fantastic room with the best hospitality we have experienced yet. The owners takes very good care of the room and the property, the room is immaculately clean, and our hosts were kind enough to leave us a delicious fall treat during our stay (a great surprise after a long day of hiking).

  • The Stable is a very spacious, clean and welcoming spot on a lovely farm with tremendous views and sweet farm animals to boot. Anne made homemade apple hand pies and left them at the door for my enjoyment. The perfect autumn touch for a late September stay in VT.

We travelled to Killington and Pico for a couple of days skiing, and Houlie's Place was a great base for our family of 5 across the 3 bedrooms. Really clean and well presented, with great touches and good communication from the owners. Thanks!

  • We enjoyed the thoughtfulness that Paul and Regina put into their Airbnb. They provided us with free snacks, candies, and coffee in their extremely well stocked kitchen. There were lots of extra fleece blankets, although not necessary because the house was already warm. I highly recommend their Airbnb and I hope to stay there again in the future!

  • We had a great stay at Paul & Regina’s house. Everything was as described and the house was very clean. They thought of so many extra things to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. Check in and communication was super easy and quick. It was a great stay for our skiing trip.

  • Houli’s place was absolutely perfect for our stay. Located right in between sugarbush and killington resorts made it easy for us to hit both places. Paul and Regina were very responsive and left quite a few thoughtful touches at the place.

  • We had a great stay at Paul and Regina's place. It is a very nice, clean house with all the amenities that you might need. We forgot a few items at the place and they were kind enough to mail the items to me.

  • Our experience in Brandon was perfect. We were in town for a wedding and were lucky enough to stay with Jim & Linda. The place was so cozy, clean, and they provided delicious coffee in the morning. They had great suggestions on where to walk downtown, and were simply the most pleasant of hosts. Also, Linda’s brownies were a much welcome surprise when we got to our room. SO GOOD! They also have a nice little reading room with WiFi and a television if you just need to kick back and relax for a bit, as well as some rocking chairs to lounge on the front porch to catch some morning sun.

    Maxwell2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Heading to the Brandon area? Don’t bother with the big Inns. A quiet room in Jim and Linda’s house was MUCH better.

    Maxwell2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Great hosts, great room and great coffee. The price was great and the fact that it is right in town close too all the shops and restaurants made it an easy and enjoyable trip. Will surely be back.

In this quirky 1825 post and beam farmhouse, the emphasis is on simplicity as opposed to luxury. Guests have included a solitary writer working on a project in the quiet space, a team of cyclists, a family coming together for a wedding, family attending Middlebury College events such as Breadloaf programs and graduations, skiers, hikers, foliage enthusiasts and lake and mountain lovers. It's close to Middlebury College, Brandon, Breadloaf , Lake Dunmore, the Snow Bowl and the Long Trail.
This is a very old house, filled with light and space. The open floor plan features simple period furniture, irregular wide pine floors, and a large field stone fireplace. It is et back from a dirt road and has a long view of the Adirondacks. The lawn is green in summer and cows moo nearby. The floors have wide boards and are creaky. It sleeps eight in four bedrooms. There are three four-poster twin beds, a single sleigh bed, two double beds, and a queen-sized bed.
The farm is convenient to the Long Trail, Lake Dunmore, Fern Lake, Breadloaf, Middlebury College, hiking rails and beautiful towns and countryside nearby. In winter, Bolton Valley, Middlebury’s Snow Bowl and Breadloaf cross-country are nearby for downhill or cross country skiing.
  • Sophia's farm house served as the perfect location for our organization's board retreat. Her home is lovely, very welcoming and open, and offered beautiful views of the mountains in the distance. I would definitely recommend this location for anyone looking to gather a small group of people for a retreat, reunion, or any other type of get together. You're also only a few minutes away from downtown Brandon, which offers a lot of fun places to check out! We'll definitely be returning for another board retreat in the future. Highly recommended!

    Keegan2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • It was our second time in Sophia’s place. Everything was great as usual. Thanks for your hospitality, Sophia!

    Oleksii2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Sophia’s house was exactly what we wanted - a comfortable and quirky Vermont farmhouse to stay in with our family while we spent a month considering a move to Vermont. The location was great, Brandon is nearby for quick grocery trips and Middlebury is super convenient too. The kids had a grand time tromping around outside and running around in the house too. We also got to meet Sophia and she is even nicer than the house. We’d recommend this place to anyone visiting with a family, or anyone who would rather stay in a place with character instead of a sterile Airbnb business.

    Zan2020-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • Sophia's place is amazing. The house is so cool, and you feel right at home in the quaint, private farm setting. We were surrounded by mountains, and plenty to do close by. Sophia was very kind and accommodating. I recommend to anyone, and we'll definitely be back!

    Amelia2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Really wonderful space - as expected with the reviews and posting. Enjoy! I’d book again.

  • Best stay ever lovely lovely home ❤️

    Ami2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • This is a quirky and charming old farmhouse. The host is responsive and lovely. Beds and floors squeak, sometimes you have to jiggle drawers and latches - If you want to experience the feeling and flavor of old Vermont country living, this is a lovely spot to do it.

    Elizabeth2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • We were visiting Middlebury College, about 20 minutes' north, with our three children and father, and Sophia's place proved to be a great home base for our weekend stay. The house was just as described: a nearly 200 year old country farmhouse with lots of quirks, charm and amazing mountain views. Sophia was an excellent host; communication was great, we had lots of privacy, but she was available to help at a moment's notice when we needed a hand. Highly recommended!

While close to Middlebury and Lake Dunmore, you can relax and find your peace at our tall cabin. It is brand new construction: beautiful, bright and practical. Situated on our farm in Leicester, the cabin sets 800' from our main barn and home. Your view includes pasture, pond, hay fields, Christmas trees, woods and quite often wildlife such as turkeys and deer. Our farm also includes walking trails, a roaming brook and a large garden.
We are only a mile and a half from major Route 7, twenty miles north of Rutland, twelve miles south of Middlebury and an hour south of Burlington. Lake Dunmore is a few miles, Bomoseen and Champlain each a half hour away, though you may not want to leave the cabin.
The road is a dirt road, as is the driveway to the cabin. There are neighbors in sight, though cabin is 1000' from the road: close, yet private.
  • The cabin was very clean, quiet, and well heated and the farm was a peaceful getway for us. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook with for the weekend and there were some board games to play. Anne was a very hospitable host, providing us with apple turnovers upon arrival and offering us the option of extending our stay at no charge when the weather took a turn our last day there. Overall a great weekend!

  • This cabin is absolutely beautiful, inside and out! Very clean and everything needed for a comfortable stay was provided. The host is very sweet and welcoming.

  • Great little house! A lot of space, away from huge towns and a great get away for the weekend. Fairy close drive to restaurants and Middlebury College!

    Brian2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • The accommodations and hospitality are superb. Anne is a wonderful host and who will go the extra mile to make your stay comfortable and special.

    Sue2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • A three day stay will wash away a months worth of stress. The school house cottage and the grounds that it is on are nothing less than idyllic. Your front yard is acres of beautiful farms and your backyard is acres of autumn colored trees. The air couldn’t be cleaner and the sky could not be bluer. Anne and her husband were warm and welcoming and provided us with a little tour of their farm a few farm grown peppers, a pumpkin, a squash, flowers on our porch and some of the best homemade baked muffins I’ve ever had anywhere. The school house cottage is beautiful inside and out and immaculately clean. The bed was comfortable and the kitchen well appointed enough to make some wonderful breakfast with farm fresh produce. The surrounding towns provided us with a few interesting places to shop and some very good restaurants though even if there were nothing to do you could well use your time sitting on your back porch looking at the scenic beauty of Vermont with a warm cup of coffee. If you spend time at “peace of the farm“ I think that you’ll be looking forward to going back before you’ve ever left.

    Michele2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Peace of the Farm was clean, the farm was peaceful, and there is plenty to do in the area if you’re looking for the Vermont experience. We walked the town of Brandon and visited the cute shops and restaurants, played board games at night in the house, we toured Baird Maple Farm, went for walks around Anne’s farm and surrounding fields and trails, gave belly rubs to Jetta the happy dog, went leaf-peeping, brought some charcuterie to Red Clover Ale Co. (tasty variety of beer), and so much more. I would recommend Peace of the Farm to ANYONE.

    Gina2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Quiet, quiet, quiet and super clean...overall, just perfect in every way. Things we loved about our one week stay at 'Peace of the Farm': fresh pumpkin muffins made by Anne, the Keurig coffeemaker, the linens, towels, the window shades, the open floor plan, a spacious bathroom and large shower, the marvelously comfortable king size bed, a well-equipped kitchen, the porch, awesome starry nights and shooting stars, Anne's garden, a small herd of cattle and two sweet donkeys, easy communication with Anne and swift responses to our needs. The home has heat and AC and we needed a wee bit of both during our stay given the changeable early fall temps, a lovely place to relax while nursing a knee injury. The home is conveniently located to wonderful hiking trails and biking, a winery, Branbury State Park, cultural activities and restaurants in nearby Middlebury, Bristol and Brandon. The farm itself is glorious, with pastures, fields and walking trails and the history of the farm is interesting. It was lovely to meet and chat with Anne and Ken. We look forward to a return visit. Stay at 'Peace of the Farm' if you have the chance.

Positioned on the lake, and on our 3 acres, we have a very qiet and peaceful setting, however both Middlebury and Brandon are just minutes away for skiing, taverns, breweries, great restaurants, movies, golf, hiking, and more.
  • The best house I've ever rented on Airbnb. Ideally placed next to the lake (fully frozen in winter) it's the perfect spot for a trip far from the city. Amazing hiking and ski resorts close to the house, you can't dream of something better. Kate and her neighbor Doug are simply the kindest people on Earth and they'll do everything they can so you can live a great moment in there. 100% would recommend and 100% will come back.

    Clément2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed a lovely stay at this cozy Airbnb. Kate was very communicative. Loved the little touches like coffee and firewood. The house is well situated for easy access to Middlebury, and we loved the nice drive to nearby Sugarbush and Killington for great skiing. Very well-stocked kitchen with everything we needed, a cozy library for reading and movies, and comfy beds. The lake is beautiful, even in winter. Thanks again, Kate!

    Emma2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazingly beautiful fall weekend at Kate's lovely, peaceful cottage. We were so comfortable there it was hard to leave! We appreciate Kate's warm hospitality, and she made our first Airbnb experience very pleasurable.

  • Kate was a great host! Her family home is charming and it’s the perfect spot with outdoor activities on the lake. Navigating check in was easy and Kate was always available to help if needed. We had an amazing time and would love to be back soon!

  • Eden's house was the perfect winter setting for our family gathering of 8. Seating for everyone in the living room for games in front of the fireplace, meals for 8 at the table, a great range and refrigerator in the kitchen for cooking. The 5 bedrooms provided comfortable sleeping spaces for all and we never felt too crowded. We took walks on the property past the beaver house and into the woods and were able to sled even though the snow wasn't deep. The property is surrounded by views of mountains. Phones and internet service were spotty but that made it more of a retreat . I highly recommend staying here.

    Susan2019-12-24T00:00:00Z
  • The house is very spacious and comfortable. There was only 3 of us staying for the weekend to attend a wedding, but the house can easily acomodate a large group. Very clean and easy to get to. The kitchen is very well equipped and with the grill and patio outside the sliding glass door in the kitchen, any type of meal can be cooked and enjoyed.

All the decorative details are beautiful, down to the dishes in the dining room. Donald is a great host who quickly answered any questions we had leading up to our Vermont visit. Quick drive to park, mountains or Brandon. Loved our stay!

  • We have travelled to the Donald's place on Feb 17th and stayed for two nights. We were on a ski holiday and there were 10 of us. The place was simply wonderful. Lots of space, we have all fit comfortably with 5 bedrooms, large dinner table to accommodate all of us. Kitchen that had everything we possibly needed. A wonderful living room with a fire place. Pictures don't do this beautiful house justice. It's well decorated, very cozy and puts you in an atmosphere of 1800s. It's about 45 minutes away from Kilington but overall it was a wonderful stay. Would definitely visit it again and highly recommended.

  • 10/10! We absolutely loved staying in Sukis guest house. The place was clean, safe and warm. She left breakfast treats for us in the fridge and provided excellent local food/ activity recommendations. Thank you for having us Suki! We’ll be back in the summer.

    Georgina2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • This place is great, very clean and comfortable! It's out in the countryside of Vermont on an organic farm. Suki, the host, went out of her way to make our stay memorable. There were fresh flowers on the table and eggs, milk, yogurt, scrumptious homemade granola and apples in the fridge. It was nice to get up and have breakfast food available, especially since there didn't appear to be any close grocery stores around. We got to the guesthouse just as the sun was setting, and it was absolutely beautiful. There's a deck on the house with two rocking chairs and it's a perfect place to relax and enjoy nature. Inside the house, you'll find a wood burning stove with plenty of wood and kindling provided. After a day of driving around to see the beautiful fall foliage, my friend and I enjoyed relaxing in front of the fire during the cool nights. When we first lit the fire, we had a bit of trouble with smoke in the house. I sent a text to Suki and got an immediate response as to how to alleviate the issue. We really appreciated that, since neither my friend nor I had experience with a wood burning stove. Maps and information about the area are provided. Suki came over to meet us and see if we needed anything. She gave us ideas as to the best place to see fall foliage and showed us on the map how to get there. She's very friendly and down to earth and she really made us feel comfortable. There is no TV but the Wifi is very strong and we were able to watch shows on our iPad. This is a great place to just kick back and relax. The house is clean, the beds are comfortable, it's quiet and peaceful and it's in a beautiful area. I highly recommend this airbnb.

    Susan2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • One of the best Airbnb’s to stay in. Suki is such an amazing host and very responsive. When we arrived we were welcomed with goodies in the fridge from her farm. It was such a thoughtful touch since we were trying to brainstorm food before getting to the house. The sunset is breathtaking. Hands down one of the best scenic views. I would recommend this place 100%.

    Marella2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second time staying with Suki and James. The farm is beautiful and the perfect place to relax and clear your mind. Sunsets are a special treat with views of mountains in nearly every direction. There are many outdoor activities, hiking trails, and farms nearby. Our dog loved running through the fields and getting a break from busy city life. The cottage is great for a couple or a small group, with plenty of space and a full kitchen. We had a great stay and hope to visit again.

Set on rolling meadows near Green Mountain national forest, this home is renovated with a country feeling and offers a private relaxing spot for your get away. Large open kitchen, dining room, living room and four bedrooms. Near many amenities.
While 200 years old, this solid original farmhouse is warm and comfortable yet nature is right outside the doors. Hike, ski, sled, etc right on the property.
Very quiet, best star watching on earth, freshest water and air, beautiful scenery, relaxation.

  • We could not have dreamt up a better place than Leslie's lovely home. Upon driving up to the house, we realized we were in for such a special treat. Once we got inside, we immediately felt like home. Leslie and Monique were very quick to respond to any questions we had, but we didn't have many because there was a binder there that explained everything we needed to know along with local treasures we should find. We are already daydreaming of our next visit to Goshen, Vermont. We want to make it a yearly tradition!
