Il Paradiso in Terra is one of them: a 3,052 square foot retreat in Sonoma’s Valley of the Moon, surrounded by views and vineyards. Here modern comfort meets authentic natural beauty, just steps from restaurants and wine bars, for moments of true wonder.
The space
Il Paradiso in Terra is an enchanting villa in California's Wine Country, situated near the Valley of the Moon and the historic Monte Rosso Vineyard. Nestled on a two-acre estate with stunning views of Mount Tamalpais and the Sonoma Valley, the 3,052-square-foot home offers a superb array of amenities for relaxation and gourmet delights, including an outdoor swimming pool and hot tub, alfresco dining, and a fully equipped kitchen. Three superb bedroom suites accommodate families, destination wedding guests, and groups of friends up to six in size.
The private estate has the air of an enchanted garden, with various living areas perched amid flowering plants, age-old trees, and murmuring fountains. The 50-by-18-foot swimming pool and in-set hot tub are located on the lower terrace, accompanied by plentiful sun loungers and a cool veranda. The 1,385-square-foot upper terrace is perched directly above the pool, with an ample lounge, a fire pit, alfresco dining, and lovely views. A variety of quiet retreats offer seclusion and serenity, including a meditation garden and pagoda.
The interiors offer a gorgeous balance of Old World elegance and modern comforts. Soothing, neutral-toned walls and furnishings give emphasis to the stunning collection of artwork, illuminated by abundant natural light. A fireplace warms the living room on toasty evenings, while glass doors open to the summer breeze. The spacious kitchen features generous prep areas and chef-grade appliances, and serves a luminous dining area with table for six. The house also features a game room with fold-out table and TV, as well as a small office space.
The master suite is located beside the main living areas, in the west wing of the home. It includes a king bed beneath arched ceilings, and opens through sliding glass doors to a deck. Its ensuite bathroom features a dual vanity, large shower, and jetted tub. One of the guestrooms features a queen bed, while the other has a split-king (which can be arranged as two twin beds if desired).
Located beside the Valley of the Moon (the setting and title of a novel by the area's most famous resident, Jack London), the villa is within minutes of Sonoma Plaza, Sonoma Overlook Trail, and several famed wineries including Glen Ellen.
