Revitalising a 106-year-old traditional inn and its storehouse: Mitsuhama Ryokan, with 188 m² of space, including a Japanese moss garden and a semi-open-air bath (limited to one group per day)
┏━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┓ ◆ Limited to one group per day/private ~ long-established ryokan and warehouse experience-style stay ◆ ┗━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┛ ■ Location, History, Features ■ A 106-year-old long-established ryokan with a restaurant (formerly the Kawanaga Ryokan) in Matsuyama/Dogo's port town of Mitsuhama, surrounded by four white-walled storehouses built in the Edo period and four gardens. It has been gradually renovated and revitalised (currently in the process of revitalisation) with white plastered earthen walls, natural Kenji bamboo fences, and more.Originally an old house opened as an almost 100% inbound accommodation. We are conducting a semi open-air bath in the interior of the warehouse and renovation work centered around the water. ■ Soothing moss garden ■ There are three moss gardens: the front garden, the courtyard, and the back garden. Well water flows everywhere, including through a fountain, a basin, a stone trough, a stream between stepping stones, and a pond. The pond is home to koi, goldfish, medaka, tanago, and river prawns, and is a biotope space visited by wild birds. ■ Chick-in lounge (cafe/bar space), souvenir corner ■ You can drink authentic cocktails on the first floor of the main building. There is a souvenir corner with imported interior goods, accessories, natural stone and more from Japan, Bali and other overseas locations.
