If you are in town for a conference at the AT&T center, you will be happy to know it is only 6 easy blocks away, 4 blocks from the UT campus, 8 blocks from the Erwin Center, 11 blocks or a $5-$7 cab ride to 6th street or the football stadium. The Austin Convention Center is just about a mile and a half away, for a leisurely stroll through downtown or a $7-$8 cab ride. Starbucks and Wells Fargo are 2 blocks in one direction, sandwich shops and pizza 2 blocks in the other. There is a 7-11 in both directions. Great Indian food and neighborhood pubs in easy walking distance. This home away from home is near everything you need! Parking is an assigned spot in a covered garage. The garage has low clearance (7 feet) and the parking spots are regular, car-sized spots. Large SUVs and trucks will stick out too far. There is paid city street parking ($1/hr) during day time, and it is free overnight and on Sundays. Host is not responsible for loss, theft, damage, injury or cancellation fees. Please make yourself at home on the front and side porches but we ask that you give some privacy to the back yard immediately surrounding the back house. Thank you! Central East Austin is a diverse and dynamic neighborhood that is just a few minutes from downtown and yet still quiet. In addition to offering of some of Austin's best restaurants and music venues, it also has important history to explore. In the last century, highway 35 was a tool of segregation, with east (of 35) Austin providing a rich community for African Americans. See how this history lives on through a plethora of old and new businesses is this burgeoning neighborhood! There is a parking spot that you are welcome to use directly in front of the house and there is also plenty of street parking with no permitting or street cleaning concerns. The closest B-Cycle station is a 15 minute walk away at Victory Grill on 11th St. Many of the 6th St restaurants and bars are a 10 minute walk as well. If you would prefer not to walk, there are a selection of ride share services such as RideAustin (our favorite), Lyft, or Uber. The street has two names, Hamilton Ave and Richard Overton Ave. Depending on your map source you may see either one pop up. Richard Overton is the oldest living American and American World War II veteran at 112 years of age. He lives down the block where be bought a house after the war ended.

Large back yard which is next to a Longhorn Ranch. Relaxing to sit on the back porch and watch the wildlife or the kids playing Guests have access to the entire house, back porch and large private back yard. There is a side area with a table and chairs in the shade which is a great space for coffee in the morning. The front is mainly for parking. We live on the same 6 acre property. Although you can't see our house from the cottage we are close by if you need something. The cottage is not in a neighborhood; it is on a six-acre property next to a longhorn ranch. It is near Buda, which has coffee shops, restaurants, wonderful parks. Southpark Meadows is also conveniently located nearby. There is parking in the front of the cottage for 3 cars. If you require additional parking or parking for an RV just give us a call and we will show you where to park larger vehicles. The closest public transportation is available in Southpark Meadows.That is a shopping center about 5 miles away. Public transportation is not available in our area.
