“I cannot say enough about Dinny, her sweet apartment, and her incredibly abundant and generous amenities, in addition to the undivided attention she lavished upon me as her guest. I had booked with her pretty much past the last minute. No problem! We were able to immediately communicate about timing & the prep she was going to do for me before I got there—and she was leaving work on a Friday of a long weekend at the time this all transpired! She gave me a brief tour when I arrived: Keureg coffee maker with all possible choices of coffee or tea, all equipment available for cooking one’s own dinner (& for serving many people!), fridge packed with food... fruit, Dinny’s homemade blueberry jelly (addictive!), bread, butter, milk, cream, juice, and beautiful fresh chicken and duck eggs, directly from her coops out back!! I had both the duck and chicken eggs and was fully fueled for my days! Large living room with a pull-out futon, tv & sound system, bedroom with a beautiful antique double bed and 2 dressers, more quilts you could ever need on a cold night as well as extra towels in the linen closet, and FLANNEL SHEETS on the bed. Ahhh I slept like a baby. I stayed inside the whole 2 days—this was a creative retreat for me & I was busy writing. Perfect kitchen table and chairs to spread out one’s work. Conway is beautiful, out in nature, yet 20-25 mins from the restaurant & arts scene in the Northampton area; great for long walks at any time of day and near excellent hiking & all outdoor activities. Had I a whole week, I would have taken the time for walks or runs. Needless to say, I am still flying high on my sweet getaway to Dinny’s place, the quiet, comfort and concentration it provided me! Thank you Dinny... I will be back!”
Lovely Antique Cape with great location on Main Street - Walk to Ashfield Lake, Elmers, the Ashfield Lake House. Beautifully furnished and equipped with everything you will need for a country getaway. Canoe available on Ashfield Lake.
“The apt is very cozy and a perfect New England getaway for a couple exploring this lovely area of Western Mass. Not much is happening in Ashfield itself, but the short ride to Shelburne Falls is well worth it. At the recommendation of a couple we met at the Blue Rock Restaurant (very good but slow service), we visited Apex Orchards, walked the High Ledges trail and ate at West End Pub (loved it!). On our way home we took Rt 2 and enjoyed the scenery of the Mohawk trail into No Adams and Williamstown. The apt itself is very nice and decorated perfectly for the western Mass area. Laura has provided many thoughtful touches making for a comfortable stay in Ashfield. The sleeping area is a loft, not great for two couples, but good for a couple and maybe a kid or 2. The master bed was very comfortable and the shower was great. There is only 1 bathroom, and it’s downstairs. Outside, there are some chairs and a picnic table. Other people live in the apartments in the building, but they didn’t seem to be around much. It was very quiet at night.”
Sunny and open writing studio with over 150 years of literary history. Built in 1870, this lovely little house was where George Curtis edited Harper's magazine, wrote essays on transcendentalism , and argued for women's suffrage. The house has since sheltered painters, librarians, and poets.
“The Hope House has wonderful charm-- bright and full of books and plants. It was wonderful to see the backyard come alive with the change of season. Andrew was incredibly hospitable and made our long stay very comfortable. His recommendations for places to enjoy in the area were great!”
