“Adrian is the perfect host. He is very attentive to his guests, extremely generous and full of information about the area and Romanian culture. The house itself is a genuine Romanian farmhouse complete with an attic to store horinka and bars where meat used to be dried and smoked over winter. The kitchen is modern and very comfortable. The big surprise was the toilet which was in the adjacent barn- modern toilet and bath plus a sauna! The neighbors were extremely nice, friendly, always smiling and despite the language difference, always willing to help. Even the dogs Labush and Ricky were very friendly and were waiting outside the front door with smiles and tail wags every morning. The house is surrounded by fields and rolling hills that begged to be explored. If you need to detox from the city and just listen to birds twittering and bees buzzing, this is the place to be.”
Lovely little cottage in the heart of Maramures, Romania. Small, traditional home in a village near Targu Lapus. The house not only offers the best experience of rural living, but also has the most breathtaking view over the area, close to the forest. The perfect place for a quiet getaway .
“I arrived at Mircea's house late at night, in the dark, guided by a picture of google maps and verbal directions, afraid of what I would find (if I found), and I was greeted by the heat of the fire in the stove, the pot with sarmale set to warm, plate with pies and bottle with oregano. The house is beautiful, clean, the place has all the magic of the village isolated from the mountain, from the walnut and the well from the yard to the neighbor from which you can get fresh milk. In the colder nights it was necessary to wake up to put some wood in the stove, but this is the price of the pleasure of staying in the evening in front of the fire. On a more practical note, the newly fitted bathroom offers the necessary comfort, one of the beds has a good mattress, the other 2 beds, but they are uncomfortable for the elderly. In the summer I think it is perfect, in winter the fire care skills will be needed. In total, 5 stars for accommodation and over 5 stars for experience.”
