KAIWA NO SATO This old house is an indigo mansion built in the first year of the Bunsei era (1804) during the heyday of indigo. The main house and the sleeping area (a barn where indigo was stored) have been demolished due to aging, but the historic living room and garden have been preserved to allow guests to experience a little bit of that time, and it is used as a farmhouse inn. In the old days, "Indigofera" grew on the fertile land of the Yoshino River basin in Tokushima Prefecture, bringing great wealth to Tokushima Prefecture (Awa Province). Ancient documents on indigo, including cultural properties, are also available for viewing. This is a rental cottage by the sea on Naoshima, a sacred place for art. There are two buildings, one on the sea side and one on the mountain side, and Lani is the building on the mountain side. Free parking is available on-site, which is rare in Naoshima. The building is a separate two-story building, and the first floor bedroom has 6 beds, and the second floor Japanese-style room can accommodate up to 2 futons, so it can accommodate 6 to 8 people. Please be sure to have an adult accompany you when going up and down stairs with small children. Also, there are many stairs on rainy days, so it may be inconvenient.
