Built in 1939, Dongchonjae It's not a fancy hanok. Seoul City and the government (Korea Tourism Organization) have recognized it as a traditional hanok. Dongchonjae has opened its home by a retired couple and has been operating since October 2020. Guests use 4 rooms, living room (Daecheongmaru), kitchen, 2 bathrooms (inside: shower available, outside: small but showerable), Numaru, and yard. The host lives in Sarangchae and provides breakfast and other services. Built in the 1978s, the Hanok House is an attractive hanok house that feels simple and special with thin and atypical rafters and low floor heights, unlike traditional Korean houses. When I entered a low-lying hanok surrounded by hanok houses, I had a special experience where I felt the Korean quietness intact. In order to share the special 'quiet moment' experience I felt in a low hanok with others, I opened the Hanok Stay under the theme of 'Providing a moment to settle in the past (around that time)'.
