Perched on the rim of ancient volcanic crater lake Kyaninga this place offers stunning views of the surrounding rainforest and the mythic Mountains of the Moon. Black and White colobus monkeys and an incredible variety of birds, including a resident flock of crested cranes, inhabit the immediate surroundings and many species live in the large, magnificent tropical garden that includes a meditation/yoga garden. Crater Lake House is a large house with an open living and dining space at the centre of which is a cozy fireplace. Enjoy spectacular views of Kyaninga Crater Lake and the Mountains of the Moon. This serene getaway is a 20 minute drive from Fort Portal. The lake is clean and safe to swim in, and you can enjoy beautiful walks along the 4 km rim, and/or explore the Crater. Enjoy this stunning location, with incredible views over Lake Kerere and Kibale National Park, with the Rwenzoris Mountains as your other view. There are 2 full time staff to help with washing dishes and cleaning. The cottage is situated on 27 acres of private land with 800 meters of lawn on the crater lake rim - all to yourself. It is a 45 minute drive to the chimp tracking starting point. It’s a great spot to go for walks, runs, bike rides and swim in the crater lakes.
