The Buskett woodland was planted by the Grandmaster Verdala as his hunting grounds. Today the woodlands is one of the most favourite spots for locals to enjoy some family time especially in WInter.

If you think Malta is just beaches and prehistory, think again. This beautiful little woodland will take you in the greenest heart of Malta.

Planted by the Knights of St. John as a hunting reserve, the lush Buskett Gardens make up one of few woodland areas in Malta, popular for picnics and leisurely walks. On the edge of the gardens stands the 16th century Verdala Palace, which is now the summer residence of the President of Malta. The gardens have been identified as an Important Bird Area (IBA) by BirdLife International because they support large numbers of bird species , especially as a sanctuary to those on seasonal migration through the Maltese Archipelago.

Buskett (10 minutes by walk), was historically the hunting grounds for the Grand Masters of Malta. Today it is a beautiful little forest, with a large variety of trees and plants, some hundred of years old. The place is iconic to ravel in some thoughts, go for a brisk walk or simply enjoy a picnic.
