It is the oldest university botanical garden in the world, right in front of the Leaning Tower. There are ancient plants from all over the world and it has recently been refurbished and is now very welcoming.

The Botanical Garden of Pisa It was the first example in the world of "garden of the Simple" owned by the university. R1500 and was established, thanks to funding from the Cosimo I of the Medici, by the botanist and physician Luca Ghini, whose illustrative tables of plants and herbarium are still the source for Botany courses. The vegetable garden was very important for the study of medicinal properties of plants. Of the original structure remain the façade decorated with shells, the pillars of the gate and six of the eight fountains.
