Well worth a visit, especially if you are an English Heritage member. You can walk along the spit to the castle. Alternatively there is a little ferry operating (not year round).
Hurst castle was built by Henry the 8th and is at the end of a 1.5 mile shingle spit. It can be a tiring walk but you can get a boat back - check timings!
