It is about 3 hours drive from Playa but it is totally worth it. Maybe worth spending the night there, but if you leave around 7 am, getting there at 10 is just fine. There are some good local restaurants too.

It's also called the Lake of Seven Colors, all shades of blue. It's about 2 hours away. The Cenote Azul is incredible beautiful too.

For the adventurous. Lagoon of Seven Colors due to its blue and turquoise hues. This is a full day trip, 2 hr 49 min (241.3 km) via México 307, you can swim or take boat rides to bird island, underwater cenotes, and rapids.

Laguna Bacalar, or “the lake of seven colors,” is a stunningly beautiful freshwater lake located just over an hour from Mahahual. It is absolutely worth a visit and a boat tour. Most tours last at least 3 hours so plan to spend most of the day in Bacalar. We recommend DayTour Bacalar for a great, all-inclusive tour.

Bacalar is home to the "Lake of Seven Colours". Its magnificent. The fresh cenote water gives off intense shades of blue, hence the name. This is an all day excursion. Have a nice lunch in one of the many restaurants of the area, then hop on a pontoon boat for a cruise around the lake. Pack some snorkel gear, some bevvies and have a very memorable day. We just may join you.
