This trail is about 6 miles long if you follow all of it--most of it is rugged and unfinished. Makes for a great walk for families along the finished part nearest Easton's Beach, or a great run along the rugged terrain.

What better way to take a walk or go for a run but to have the ocean on one side and the mansions on the other ?

“If you’re planning on spending the day in Newport we suggest touring one of the many historic mansions! Most of the historic mansions are on Bellevue Avenue, apart from the few that are on the waterfront. The Breakers Mansion Tour (our family favorite) The Vanderbilt family summer home, The Breakers, is not only the most visited attraction in Newport, but it is also the most popular tourist attraction for the whole state of Rhode Island. The Breakers mansion tour is a self-guided audio tour, and it should take between 60 and 90 minutes. It provides a detailed history of the Breakers as you wander through the elegant rooms on the first and second floors. If you're traveling with kids, we suggest The Breakers 45-minute family audio tour allowing children and parents to "meet" family members and staff, as well as fanciful creatures like the friendly dolphin hiding under the grand staircase, the lions of the Music Room and the dragons in the Dining Room. “Best beach for families with kids. There are little to no waves and it's typically not that crowded. No food vendors or facilities. Just a nice laid-back beach. This was our go-to beach when we lived in Newport. ”
