Take a walk up to the castle from the "York Street Retreat", you can walk along the road, or take a walk down Albert Place, through the play park heading into the woods. You’ll see the castle from the top of the hill. You can walk down towards the castle past the field of highland cattle.

Balvenie Castle built in the 1200s a curtain walled castle built by the powerful "Black Comyns", earls of Buchan and was the seat of the Earls of Buchan until 1308 when they met their downfall at the hands of Robert the Bruce, today it is held as a peerage by Malcolm Erskine the 17th Earl of Buchan.
