The Allen Bates River Park includes a children's playground, a basketball court, BBQ grills and is the ONLY PUBLIC ENTRANCE to the San Marcos River, in Martindale. It is a beautiful park named after a wonderful man, Allen Bates, who owned a local plumbing company, that died at 53 years old. He left behind 2 young sons, a daughter and his beautiful wife, Hattie. This park is a tribute to Allen's enormous contribution to the initial construction of Martindale's first park.
